Terry can dot com and -- I was doing great until about five minutes ago. What's going now scheduled to report came like it plus it was a revision right -- really like it. It is easy it's it's one of those economies where you take three steps forward and then for back to forward one is just see. I feel like we're stuck in mud. They can it's like yours your hero they're walking through the snow drifts right and use EE sink a little bit deeper every time you're trying to get home. I understand Anderson exasperation I think there's a lot of people. Our households author -- same way where they just feel like take one step forward two steps back in and I had reason for up to let let's share. Our reasons for optimism. Until that -- report came out it at 10 AM. -- the this report came out. -- -- strong job market expected for Boston Cambridge Quincy mass New Hampshire right yes I read that and I say. You know from April to June 22% of the companies interviewed plan to hire more employees while 3% expect to reduce staff. Another 71%. Expect to maintain their current employee. Workforce levels and 4% are not certain of their hiring plans this year with the net employment outlook of 19% of you say to yourself can bet that's pretty good announced. But the problem is it's a sentiment number. Right it's an emotional it's kind of like. Consumer sentiment right right how do you feel about the economy not hard data. It's just lately wouldn't -- you were impression of what might be going on the economy additional data that we received. This came out a Gallup pretty gambling source. A few years ago only 8% of Americans surveyed said it looked like a good time to find a quality job. The 27%. Saying so in the latest survey looks like raging optimism -- three years ago is 8%. Thought it was a guitar right forgot today's 27%. -- with that number was back in 2007. 40%. So that's -- like it's it's all relative. It is already -- but those again you know whether it's a good time to look for job are you feeling about it what are employers viewing. The fact of the matters here are the jobs numbers this is how many jobs are open right now the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Does a study every month and they issued this report it's called the -- jolts report which really is job -- -- this is how many jobs are available. Last month. May revive if they told us that there were three. 1974000. Jobs -- in the last month in fact it reduced that down to 3990000. Chips. We expected. Four million jobs over four million jobs to be listed for this month. In fact we missed rightly coming in -- and -- only like 39 so. The you you again ate it reaffirms this whole quicksand economy yes -- say to get ahead maybe not. -- -- Well I mean I don't think anybody thought this was going to be quick right and we all knew and we knew. When you compare I mean for example. You know the numbers you were just talking with me and powerless to look back -- those were predictions for the second quarter first quarter. Increase in staff levels only 16% -- where it wears -- 22 so that that's something positive. How many unit decreased while backing Q1 place at 6% said they were gonna decrease where -- three. -- get you know these these are somewhat positive. We have to just look for the positives but I know exactly what you're saying it's not it's not quick. Lot of people -- think this is gonna happen you know overnight you wanna get those jolt -- report it to four you know four point five million. I'm a pretty patient -- to -- -- -- has been it has been thinking about how Danica. He did get bad they kept that. Do you see evidence that the job market is improving 6680. Is our text number we'd love to hear from you on that very topic do you see any. It's that the job market is improving in the job market is improving pair it W I think I think I hope everybody says yes they do see -- it's improving. It just is an improving at the pace that I hoped. Fast and right in and here's what it boils down to lows well if you are among those who are looking for job if you're unemployed and yes right well in that markets not improve. Right -- the economies like if if your among those looking for work or if you're grossly underplayed which -- -- a lot of a lot of folks right. Lot of guys or make it -- -- grand a year are now working part time at home people got in and that's that's that's what's happened. 22 part a big segments of our economy. The big question is you know is will it get better and win you know a -- test. And -- billion frustrated well I think a lot of people are getting frustrated I understand exit which sank a lot of people feel that same frustration. I don't know -- let's keep ticket at least that one step forward to write to us -- Canada showed we have for but he did a lot of good stuff that you finish a story on Muni bonds I don't know if you own any Muni bonds out there -- -- Muni bonds. The years this is the gist of the story the Wall Street Journal revealed. The mark up for the spread of the commission would you call right. The charges on Muni bonds. -- double two times the amount that the charges are on corporate pilots. And so if you're an investor. EC your your retirees sixty years old he's one -- safe and keep it simple you don't pay a lot of tax so -- do. You call your broker you go to E*Trade and you say. I want to buy Muni bonds while you're paying twice the commission twice the spread on the -- If you Laura corporate we're going to be joined by Anthony Valeri he's an investment strategist at LP LD's and tell us why. It's. Absolutely it sounds like rip off not to mention the fact that the state each -- Muni bonds Sosa. And so say -- work she's right we keep hearing. And you say Detroit. Yeah I mean we just keep here about the value of these bonds going down and down and you wonder if you're sixty years old that's -- experts that's right right so the last hour. We'll talk to you about that and we'll we'll get some streets scoop on that topic. I did have a an announcement for those of you like safe investments inherited this from leader banker friends leader bank. Are offering you. And hiring a CD this is for new customers to leader bank. If you are look if you CD maturing hears and what you do is take a listen to this tree because it's a two year CD here 24 months CD. At a rate in EPY. Of one point 4%. Now that to me sounds like a pretty good rate I checked it on Bankrate dot com I did not find any bank with a higher. Yield on the CD then one point 4% check yourself call your own bank call your credit union's CP can get a better deal. I don't think you will it's a one. Point 4% EPY. On May 24 month CD available exclusively from leader bank they have offices and branches in East Arlington Arlington center. Arlington Heights. Belmont Burlington in Central Square if you just wanna call perhaps you can do this over the phone you don't wanna travel down to leader bank. -- called their phone number is 781. 646. 3900 -- 7816463900. Tell them you want information about the 24 month. Fiery CD with an eight PY of one point 4%. Available exclusively. -- leader bank to the best of my knowledge it is the highest EP wide you're gonna find. Not only in the state of Massachusetts but anyway I looked on Bankrate dot com if you know something better -- -- -- 68680. The phone number again for leader -- 781646. 39716463900. That's the along on the short terrific. What day why are casino workers so opposed to obamacare have you been following this story I haven't but I it occurs to me these are all union guys yes that's right -- of the guys that put our president in office. Yes they did both times as they did with with the promise that if Obama care went through. They would be enjoys the benefits of the plan right they would be getting some of the tax cuts and take EUE get into office guys and I'll take care. Absolutely well as it turns out that's not the case at all. That -- -- unions are treated like. Employers not as individuals. There. Was well. A deal to qualify for subsidies that obamacare. So in fact there. Here -- health care is increasing in pretty quickly. And so they can pick it Washington -- slows their picketing outside -- hotels. In Vegas. What occur to me in this story -- that. These workers service. Industries. These union workers they may be the first be picketing in the first of the realizing that. Unions across this country they're gonna start real thing. That they don't qualify it was -- these -- yet. They put this guy in office you look at the percentage of union members voted -- just like -- And he exploded -- the equipment. I don't think about it for a moment and I understand what they don't qualify I mean what what would make the difference there you'd be any different than you. And your employees right I mean you're providing group. And the union is as well so what what makes them any different. It doesn't. The differences that they put an office and they -- there was going to be a little something extra -- notes that the unions are getting so I would say this is the first of many -- to be -- streets. Well they let. You report itself what they say. Said anyway. I heard talk about Muni bonds -- guest is Anthony Valeri he's an investment strategist for LPL financial. Anthony good morning welcome to the program. Who appreciate time now I written article today's Wall Street Journal about Muni bond investors. Paying twice in trading commissions for Muni bonds when they're compared to corporate boards while a deputy. But and I don't know that. I thought that report I don't know why is the right number but in general. -- that a little more expensive to -- packed and you know spoke on vs corporate bonds and that. -- epic reflection that. Municipal bonds are a little harder to trade. Think corporate bonds and outlook -- corporate bond market has taken has made more strides to make that an investor friendly market with. More -- issues that trade with an error transaction costs in the Muni market unfortunately. It's just so regional so it's so local. That you don't get debate on the issues that tree frequently enough to have. Narrower bid ask -- that would be the lower transaction costs. Can you explain that whole concept of spreads because a guy who's bought a CD your bought a stock before. May not understand how -- spread works when it comes to the acquisition of corporate bond or Muni -- Shares so a municipal bond government -- municipalities they have on that. Trade very much. And might have. They have self pride that is that for -- 99. And offers I don't 993 quarters that might. That could be -- that which is fairly wide in India corporate bond market that disparity. On on actively traded issue could be a point 125 or even just a quarter so there there could be a big difference. The other factor that comes into play is the the dollar amount to degrade the dollar but you have to invest the greater the block size the more that more bargaining parity capital. More that back to come down. But the other factors at play at that that's going to be -- of that that spread as we call it that transaction costs that come by. If you need it appears he again based on the Wall Street Journal article that there is less regulation. Over spreads on Muni bonds than there are on corporate bonds is that is that consistent with your finding. There's. There's no evidence regulation on both quite frankly I expect that in the union marketed only be. Worked a little bit more but. I would -- that we've come a long way in the media market to to improve transparency to improve the ordering -- municipal securities rule making for the MSRB. As a web site out there where individual investors can go and check pricing on individual securities so that they know the price they receive or being offered. Whether it's a good one or not unfortunately but it to market -- got to be careful you know there are on -- out there looking to to boost their bottom line. And you'd do just that that do your homework and unfortunately any market forces you a little harder to do. To watch yourself on on the -- Do you think he does it have anything to do with the fact that -- most corporate bond purchasers. Our big institutions in mutual funds were as Muni bonds are being pot purchased by. You know my mom and dad and individuals and 45% Kim a Muni bond purchases are by individuals. As opposed to corporates which is much higher with what does that weigh into this at all the ID taken advantage of the individual investor -- Anthony who. And I and you know right I don't -- speaking Spanish percent but I I agree I agree with that I I think that there's a component that. Yes the institutional investors much more active in the corporate market. And for that reason I think that -- that's part of the other part I think is that the corporate market -- a better job of going to electronic exchanges to issuing debt that is more. More likely to be treated with a lower transaction costs focusing on March liquidity issues whereas in the media market we haven't quite come as far may. That's but just not quite the there's there's that aspect to it as well this idiot -- -- -- Bryant -- thanks very much for your time we appreciate it. Anthony Valeri investment strategist for LPL financial. Hey you know I just can cut to the chase here -- I think what happens on Muni bonds is these makers and it did not regulated the same way as a corporate right which is. -- -- silly when he does the anything about a logically right wouldn't you want a higher degree of regulation on a government issued ball absolutely as opposed to corporate but they're not. And so it's it's buyer beware in that kind of the situation. And unless EEE in less urine fall if if you're advisor is a fiduciary right. So that means he's strictly working on feet and he's required by law -- -- -- get the dead best -- and desperate on that bull shark. If -- deal with a guy that's working on a commission you need to really be EU what would -- that he was telling was that. You know buyer beware right right right right may be more about who you're dealing with than this. The -- itself -- Double as the spread it and double on up on a fixed income security I thought it just it means we used to what I'm try to tell -- is that. If you're buying an individual Munis. Ended your buying them from a commission based broker. You'd you'd be I wanna rethink that whole process is just some advice from local there. Thanks a little bit are you feeling better today. -- -- uncle Barry and answer -- Attorney general. Golan after he -- wins so it's that's over with and this stinks you know. At least dental providers -- go into nursing homes. To countless places where people need dental -- can't come to them. Well they call those in house calls essentially what they're doing -- they were. -- -- Billing Medicaid for. An additional charge. Which. Which they called house call eight and also charged for the appointment. So what they're doing it just so everybody's clear this -- You'll get the name of the now that. Dental company would go to nursing home they -- ten patients right in the build them for ten travel right. Right -- and in each and each visit was a house call. We evacuated read it for someone that it's a lot of gas incident so it's called. Health drive corporation. And they've gone after them they -- dollars to the system. That can answer any jail time or anything like that practice is gonna have to pay it back and obviously there be reined in what they've reached a settlement with the doctors there this is in the first needed. Now we have -- when -- east and lastly -- -- weeks ago weeks ago that it essentially saying that. And it's having just gone through. You know my own personal issues with an elderly grandparent and although we went through. You aegis -- sell many companies. Well yesterday we're highly critical of the attorney general's office from your increased from -- today. Is she she would appreciate you went from a go to a nearly 24 hours. -- -- Martha well listen there's a lot of times I personally think which goes after these individuals like this mean girl office they're doing with date with the to do. Their job that is there to like something about the banking -- you -- you don't like it which regulates you don't mind which goes after the bad diesel regulations coming off. She was over regulating the banks and would I EC. I have to speak on behalf of the banks in the mass bankers association because they're -- -- Atlanta -- and and there's there's truth in that there's a lot associations are for their sorry bankers in this state because we're so Democrat talking about Massachusetts here right Hampshire. The the the financial institutions are few are fearful. That retribution look and feel the need to be spank that I didn't say -- -- it again uncle Barry coming through. That might give a trivia question for. Cash but so many pitches and that's -- -- questions. This -- questions because he rules. That's something we talked about yesterday. Well but -- specific fields and she's so this direct Columbia business school -- that does expire. At. It's really accurately about status. But there's a portion of what Larry Summers said a few years ago about women in the sciences and mathematics field. It's true he said that. Men and women who were hiring hired the -- for the position twice as often. Places that they had that they had the same and he attributed to. -- because I think that.
