Providing home care for their loved ones often times this is being provided by child niece and nephew. Is there anything that the home care provider of health care provider can do that would be beneficial for them where the family. Yeah it's absolutely happening more and more these days and and the lots of times believe and the the person getting the care does one pay for their loved -- doing for free. And lots of times a person who's doing the care -- have left their job -- so so folks you can't get paid by you must have a personal care contract in place. If -- a personal care contract in place and money moves from the care recipient to the care provider. It will look like -- gift for Medicaid eligibility purposes that -- result any five year waiting period. To get eligible so you don't want to trigger that five year period that upside is the money can't be transferred to the care provider net pain yeah. Downside is it's -- quotable. -- so what's taxable but you get -- right. The real and -- -- is a Social Security like it's a retirement and that's right. And the real upside is there is no five year waiting period so if you feel like somebody might not make it five years and year. You know providing care for them even if it's for a year you know. They're gonna do it you could transfer good chunk of assets and how to protect it from the cost of long term care and your loved one would probably prefer to have their daughter. -- for them as opposed to some -- that they don't know I'd call. 8668485699. Pain barrier. Impaired in here. On any other actually itself against the winter's not totally kill him until. At least the very easily and his latest. And if -- hurt what's happening earlier in the week. I'm trying to deny that he does that just don't listen to -- the -- the storm -- They said that last week. So holding. Your right right we don't get -- -- their talk and you know outside -- now -- inches Maddon. And then and coming off the water off. Well it's birthday time happy birthday to the stock market. All of this talk about this that you said we're gonna play it -- that these guys -- at. It's Monday bear with me here and yeah but in the old -- when you're in. And going back in time it we we didn't call united and called the capsule bottom of the market we eat we called it goes on March 12. And I did an interview with him down when he five. And you said to me is is this is this it is it is a desperation and I said yeah -- it's years ago I don't -- up and ask the question is that the bear market nice thing you know and I think it is. And for five years scanned the market has reached on we had just tremendous strength in the market. And I think a lot of people are asking that question by the way this is our question of the day is will live long enough to have a sixth. Birthday and you know there's a lot of stats -- me just give you. One that I came across in CNN money this bull market. Is now 1822. Days old -- think that's that's how long this market has been reaching forward. But it is not the longest bull market by any means now that we've had. In in the last fifty or sixty years that's right the longest was between 87 in 2000. Which was 4494. Taxable right now Brian -- and ended badly. Remember it was when you think back to. March of 2000 through march of 20030. Yeah as ugly three year for the stock that those who made big. During those years I'm probably weren't even. They don't remember those at your G-7 to 2000. And are -- there there may be. During that time period in this has got quite a way to go if you want Stan. -- double itself. It is and I think there's a lot of people that are sitting in them in cash certainly in their same Jesus thing too long in the tooth to get invested ten I'd be buying stocks. Or -- you know are we ready for big correction. We meet we're gonna be joined by Brad McMillan he's the chief investment officer commonwealth financial he's at a topless -- -- right. At the act and I don't know anybody that isn't concerned about their 401K plan and the same day I get the question all the time. You know should I sell my stocks and I go to cash -- and you know what. I don't know the answer I would wish I could sit here and say yes absolutely should sell your stocks on June 1 because the market's gonna crash on June 2. I do not have a crystal ball but what I do have is access to some pretty good resources in terms of who can find out. Well I think part of the reason it's people are real skittish to is that. While there indicators that some people have forgotten about 2008 and a lot of people have not. You know the 1% may be have forgotten about 2008 but the country. Has not forgotten what happened and and is still kind of modeling a long break so on you know people don't feel that great about it. Which is is one of the signs that maybe it's it's it's short. Well it's frustrating for people who are sitting in cash -- because it's been five years that they didn't sitting in cash and they're saying to themselves well. I keep hearing about this bull market but it's a relatively. Small segment of the population is only about half of investors right have money invested in stock so. Half of us have not expect everything and and had not participated. In in the gains that the market rally -- -- -- in one of the problems and I think a lot of folks have. Is they're saying to themselves and I had this conversation many of our listeners in the say. Well buried in the market's up 140% the market's up a 130% -- have been a five year bull market. I wanna go to cash in my answer always is okay if you go to cash what will you earned on that money. You know answers none -- -- right OpenId in an 80s80s up are you willing to do that are you willing to sit in cash. And what is the event that will bring you back in when -- you come back in and buy stock or do you need a 10% correction a 20% -- would you dissent and another 40% gain. Yes you certainly could it's happened -- you look at the records now yeah I mean you go back to the year you referenced it 1987 through 2000. It was a bull market that lasted 4494. Days right well let me give you an idea. We're about a 170%. Increase. That was 238%. So. We've got a ways to go before we get one thing I will mention is the stock market is down today he'd -- the Dow down about 63 points. And shares of -- are down. About 1% and I don't know it no updates on the and the jetliner the 777. Well there are updates you know but none of it's good that's for sure I mean they still don't know where that plane is still have determined that that slick in the water was not that. Of and you're playing. -- C report on Bloomberg noted there was debris found on the Vietnam coastline. I know try to I don't I haven't seen what happened did daddy was. The have reiterated. What they thought was at or what they thought was a life -- you not had writer's true. The story out of Malaysia does not bode well for shareholders balling right now bowling -- stock is down two dollars and 44 cents per share or one point 9% it's down to him it's at 126. Dollars this year. Rumblings already facing some issues you know they've been dealing with the issues with their new planes the dreamliner that they thought was going to be in LB all these huge contracts. You know with Dubai and with all kinds of of other foreign countries and they've got issues as well into battery issue. Right now he is referring to another and another problem now forty of those planes they found cracks. In the wings these are planes have been delivered to -- user rights -- is still the factory that's right so -- have to. Usually number one delayed on delivery because they can backtrack and try to take care of these issues -- -- -- to try to figure. Why in the world that happened forty times over so obviously there's some kind of flaw in the design. So. It's not good in the new Boeing plane goes down. 200 plus people on board and that makes for really rough week that is supposed to be one of the safest jets out -- well know jet is -- if there's a bomb on board and that's. Really the question I think that investigators are grappling with right now. Did that plane blow up and Scott yeah. You know over and over again I keep hearing experts -- -- told him why can't find him well number one it was seven miles -- So there's some question as to whether you know debris if he is playing blew up by Obama and I am saying is because I'm some kind of aviation expert. But only because I've been. We know -- nomination since Saturday morning at 7 AM. I've watched these aviation experts that they -- were saying it. If this plane of the bomb went off planes and work two bombs went -- and play in it were that were time. And that could disintegrate by the time comes. All right well -- lose we will follow that story for the next couple hours rate if you get any update -- messenger that -- If you ever run wondered why some people are rich and maybe you're not as wealthy as you might like to be. One of the things that impact your wealth is how much do you pay when you borrow money. Right how much interest rate pain on your car -- what is the interest rate on your student loan what's the interest rate on your credit cards -- Chances are it's higher than one point 99%. Having low interest rates is a function of one you have to have good credit rate if Democrats -- in the seven hundreds. If you have equity in your home though you can use home equity line of credit from leader bank to debt he really low interest rates as a matter of fact. You can get it low interest rate of only. One point 99%. Eight PR it's fixed for the first twelve months. And then it's going to be primary. For the life of the line no closing costs associated with the leader bank home equity line of credit. At one point 99%. You can call and get an application submitted over the phone to do this over the phone. Call this number 7816418600. I would ask you this question. What is the interest rate -- -- what is the interest rate on your home -- with the interest rate on your student loan with the interest rate on your home equity line of credit. If it's higher. And one point 99%. Why would you call leader bank he can reach them at 781641. 8600 the leader bank home equity line of credit. Is issued at a rate of one point 99%. Fixed for the first twelve months. And it's going to be primary for the life of the line there are no closing costs associated with the leader bank one of credit call 781641. 8600. Point 781641. 8600. Are we promised you that we try to get you an answer as to whether or not is bull market will celebrate a sixth. Year birthday and we got some help that capacity -- we are joined by Brad McMillan Brad as the chief investment officer commonwealth financial Brad good morning. Good morning -- ordeal. Good good so. Help us out here have you heard we're debating. Along with our audience whether or not this bull markets Tennessee is sixth or not six year. I think it's quite possible. Because what we have here is we have a fairly long lived bull market it's been supported by fed easing expense supported by an improvement in the economy. If you look at it it's actually I think the fifth or sixth longest bull market dapper. So it's not like worrying completely unbroken territory here. So he could go -- but there -- signs too worried about as well. I worry yourself and I came across and and maybe can help me dispel it if you think it's not an important issue but. Margin debt hasn't margin debt are we borrowing more money to buy stocks and we've ever for a before. Yes that's absolutely true margin debt is it an all time high in terms of absolute dollars. What's interesting I I actually did a study on nests and what's interesting it's not necessarily be absolute level of margin debt it's. It's the margin debt as a percentage of the economy as a whole. As a percentage of GDP. And also how quickly it changes over taught at the matters. Now I mean they. Mean that if we get a correction it's going to be that much more accelerated. It's certainly could mean net and in fact what we're seeing here using using the metrics I just talked about you're only two times before. Where was -- margin debt is high in relation to the economy as a whole as it is right now. One was in 2007. And one was in early 2000. OK so. Those great early 2000 was on we had a pretty good correction right. And 2007. Week he didn't really falloff until 2008 but it started in 2007. Well that's why I say there are signs to worry about any other thing to worry about it in both of those cases what happened was margin debt. Was it very high levels that they grew they -- very very quickly. And that is also what we're seeing -- Which. When you see -- margin debt they do when you see the margin debt and then use also see investor sentiment seems to be. We we haven't had a good correction since 2011. It it almost seems like we've forgotten the lessons learned back in 2008. I think that's very true and if you look at the actual statistics for retail investors you. You're starting to see that in fact they are moving back into the market and increasing numbers. And what I do I work with financial advisors and you know a couple of years ago people were saying I wanna be cautious I don't want to run any -- and other saying. Well how did we -- last year you need to take more reps. And that's contrary site right there. Yes it is it is wouldn't let me ask you -- site I run into this this is a problem anytime I engage in one of these conversations with some of our audience. And they'll say to me. OK I wanna sell my stocks always asked them what do you do with the money went to sell. And -- exactly that's isn't that isn't that a real issue PSE if you sell your cash. You're gonna make I don't know two or 3% less than the rate of inflation. But you're also gonna exposed to a different set of breasts which you know have a heart fairly high correlation promote -- that's with the stock market. So you know to some extent the moving from one financial assets into another is kind of an illusory project protection. There's some protection there but not as much as people backed down. So you know there's different ways to do that I mean if you concerned about the market you can buy insurance in the form of ports against say a -- absentee. He Kia. You know that's one relatively easy way to tell -- another way to -- it is to just look at and say okay if they declined to certain amount I'm gonna go to cash and see what happens. Now the problem with that is if you do decide to do that you need to decide when you're gonna get back and tell. The problem their Brad as you're trying to time the market current. Well it's under certain circumstances timing the market actually leads to is superior returns. Arguably were under those circumstances now it's not a slam dunk but it's a -- proposition. It it may be that I -- do you know anybody that's had good success over a long period of time timing the market because I don't. Not in the US markets now and I think if you look at Japan -- that would have been a different story. And if you actually look at when kind of the market timing approach works and when it doesn't. And I've done the study. It actually makes sense when the markets are at historically high valuation levels. And the reason for that is when they're expensive there's more of a chance of a larger to court. -- ninety -- so what are you telling your advisors over their common. Well right now I don't think there's any reason to frankly be too concerned because of the technicals remain solid. You can make an argument that the market can continue to go up and at the end of the day that's what seems to be happening. But you need to be conscious. What can happen and what might happen and know what you gonna do it when you get a bill. Do you think any sectors are overpriced right now like you look at what's going on in the NASDAQ and you look at what's going on technique and technology stocks. Like I I I look at some of the valuations and -- cinema soft he would like how can Tesla be worth that much money you know like that it. That just screams bubble to me and then every time I save the stock was up another 10%. Well that's the thing the market can stay crazy -- longer than we can stay solvent. But if you look at if you look at Tesla for example. The argument for that it's not a car company. It's a battery company. And that to -- makes sense you look at Biotech I think there's a -- you know what you're looking for signs. Irrational exuberance could steal a phrase. You look at the number of IPOs that are out there. Why are they are so many companies looking to sell to the public right now. His money's easy pick. Up. Easy money out there -- all right -- Brad thank you for mark for joining us we appreciate it. Good talking he would thank you you know -- they'll be some information released this week that'll help us. Figure this out -- we get the jolts report ranked. That's -- job surveil -- job listings report. Yet Thursday claims and retail sales. But really you know additional earnings to next month and it's full month so we're we're sitting here right what is it march 10. How can it keep it army manufacturing was down 18%. Does the market would would crater yes -- in China China's it manufacturing base to capture. Sharp. By the -- story right it's that's the number one news site you know this I have to say. -- it's not surprising that the markets are out there are a lot of things going on national they'll last week the markets rebounded. You know despite what was going. But the Ukrainian story is not legal way and Ukrainian stories starting to have an impact here in the united state. Number one. News and talk about. -- talk about that -- the when I wanna know bill is you know what's what's going on in Russia. The Russian economy is not exactly booming economy right. Is not a not a place that people are dying to immigrate to you don't you don't hear of a lot of people saying boy I can't wait to go to Russia on vacation. Their shirts and they come out looking just like your shirt does now -- and as you can imagine -- -- run -- his -- to the cleaners constantly would be ridiculous. So I buy their LL being shirts that are like pre start there is -- for Britney -- can't believe what they look like it's amazing it's amazing. So that's a really cool things they have that we are back but apparently they have a pair of boots a really cool but they do my daughter by your boots -- -- has taken on what is -- -- and so -- so there has been a hundred million dollars as a result. To upgrade their stores and to expand their stores and they gave their employees and 8% below business center. Yeah first -- they'd given him a bonus in years. So lot. Good for them we had to stick around to get the -- issue didn't go through those tough years where they were trying to make things 8% to heck of -- bonus -- -- that you're you're making fifty grand a year he's got a bonus for Brent thank you. That's the captured justice Anthony -- -- -- fulfills a full time employee it's a been report me at that that's good money. Good for them needs at Rainier it's a company that did the right things. You know they got the bad times and good reason to. Did you see this story here at a California I think this is really interesting it's sort of leads to another trivia question to a one -- -- today. Really interesting because you know how we keep talking about income. Spared you we've got you know 1% at the top and nobody -- Well they're they're -- you state that proves this more than the state of California can. And Jerry Brown is out there campaigning again. And he's talking about this gap on the ticket. In the -- Californians. Millionaires. Keep you know household with assets of more than in dollars it increased three point 6% since Democrats have been in office -- year 2011. Compared to 3.5 percent across the country can. And the number of people who were. I had to collect food stamps has also increased in that time eighteen point 2% in the time period in California. First nine point 4% nation. So they have more millionaires per capita and more people on. On food stamps. All of this last for four years. That Armenians living advertised -- to him out there you're in California. You'll see agencies here but not as much you'll see billboards in California. Saying you're eligible. You might be eligible for food stamps and they give them out to their illegals like they can't write -- mean eight. But in California also leads the country. In illegal immigrants are great and rightly aliens what are called immunity they are people that -- girl problem right right I like I target date they've got an issue. -- will indeed did you run. The percentage of the poppy California population that's until it's answered it. Just. -- because I'll try to get it let's see if we now right. But the percentages but it's just too weak is the fact that -- increased between 2011 now eighteen point 2%. That's a lot so witty do you have a trivia question -- well so this you know it leads you start asking what kind of what's percentage of people on food stamps here. In New England right so while we took a look at this and down and in Massachusetts 13% of the population is its. In Vermont at 16%. In New Hampshire 9% Rhode Island is at 17%. -- huge unemployment -- there it is well. Maine is 19%. And Connecticut I have to -- surprise connect 12%. I would have thought it would be lowered significantly. Every seeks sit here they already have it Hartford new Haiti and Bridgeport days it's like. That those are really bad neighborhoods. -- New Hampshire though isn't it striking New Hampshire. You know of the long -- -- at a state was lone conservative state out of the six New England states and they have a 9% of their populations on food stamps. Look at me in 19% of the main population is on food stamps. It's. Part of that. Streak on the streets are very rural population evidently very impoverished populace. Well it. It leads and we don't work out question of the day era trivia question but I just -- all the information was so interesting it lets you know it's amazing. How much of the population. Food stamps -- where do you think is the highest. Number which date. I just said that that discrepancy is pretty dramatic and California were highest in the discrepancy between billionaires vs those. But that's not the highest state when it comes to people on food stamps. So which state do you think has added I -- today it's not. OK now we know that means the highest in New England at 19% of its not very far off. Being number though which is so it's higher than me yesterday so you would what stayed is that if you know the state which state went up to about 8% the percentage is 22%. Easier to guess which city do you think it is I think in Alabama. Right that's of course to well it's definitely tendencies of -- Kentucky is were on the -- states in the country because definitely. It's definitely the worst states in the country worst in the country which is pretty clear. Me. State it was report states to -- -- with the coast. You can end up ups upstate. -- Start. 686 cities or text and or what state has the highest percentage of their population on. Food stamps. And if you know the answer you win yourself belief least 68680. What's this ideally that company way fear there may is a woman did you make a lot of news. But the -- -- furniture -- -- and emulated right I deal by. But hey you like it wouldn't buy a bureau wouldn't buy a bid though like I tried to frequently what kind of furniture would you would you buy -- just outfitted a house. To buy anything online predator and I am are they on the chopper but. I think that at this is just when I see wafers name out there it's from Amazon. So if you serve alone or in the only fair separate from and I'll tell you you know -- -- -- search Amazon you see like from other distributors are from a storm only fair is. All over well yes well actually what with what we have with welfare department were correctly guys that. In the beginning that was their soul. Web presence was on Amazon. But now they have their website. So -- you can actually go and I am assuming its -- -- dot com I don't know I haven't tried it. But now they have their own website and they they wanna go public and growing sales mean they are growing -- revenue. Like there revenue has increased dramatically since they have actually open up that their marketplace. In 915. Million dollars of revenue in 2013. That's a 55%. Increase over the previous year. That's pretty darn good they're gone public yet they are on public -- did not officially new -- Regis suspecting that there aren't that they're going. They resolve this venture capital that's that's recently that they're going public that so we're waiting to hear from them and and and if they do. They'll be set up as probably the biggest IPO out of Boston this year. He has EEO have -- 182 year run recently we use for ulcers at Verizon Verizon for Verizon. To. I -- AT&T and price break. ATT's and pricing more thanks Dave can't -- They they cut the price of their mobile share value plan by fifteen dollars. To 65 dollars a month the carrier announced this weekend the price. Is for customers with one full line using the four GL TE network and includes two gigabytes of data. Plus unlimited talk and text in the United States. So that's pretty good deal is it. Nader -- they're getting into with that T-Mobile will that. Remember we read report on active earlier this year when when that show was going out there electronics it was going down. In Vegas that team local ball Aussie you're stopped they're just making huge. Seat. In an effort to -- -- the -- -- working it is it is and it's got AT&T really shook up at the time AT&T -- You know they were offering all kinds of crazy things. That kind of branding -- -- that as has T-Mobile. -- come back that is well yeah they're definitely the three are in a big in a big war -- pricing and it's good for consumers. Good for consumers not necessarily good for stockholders the beginning of the down and -- AT&T shares this morning are down thirteen cents at thirty to 41. Now you might say to yourself well that's not often well they were Ty is 39 dollars a share while during the last year parts of that gives you an indication. Now if you buy shares of eighteen today AT&T today he loved by them for 31 or thirty to forty here you're giving a tax qualified dividend of five point 7%. And usually pay 50% taxi getting. That's a good dividend for right five point 7%. Very few people are gonna argue that five point 7% dividend is healthy dividend and you'll have to pay taxes on a rate 15% that's a win win. Pay out what state in the country has the highest percentage of its population on food stamps. Purity no part of the answer. We'll give you the rest of the answer when we return. What state has the highest percentage of its population on food stamps will have the cork in -- for you momentarily. But more importantly. Right now you know Jim there's a lot of stuff -- did you over the weekend did you read the president's budget. Well I didn't read it you know like it highlights from this Robert Powell. Right after show that he's coming up right when he's going to I'm not -- -- he read the 74000 page tax code in the -- jump right over to the president's budget. He joins us now Robert Gallery today. Well Barry -- -- let's go to Georgia. I wanted to talk to you about your article regarding some of the hidden. Items inside of the president's agenda and budget I read some of them as well showing what an exciting like pilot. Some pretty significant changes going to be made to Social Security his budget were to pass. Right that the good news is that he's -- -- at least drop the proposal to. Have the annual polls security cola. Possibly an adjustment. Tied to change CPI. And he said that in order for us to do that that would have done in the context of a grand bargain would deficit reduction plan. So that's a good news that that that's say that the that's that -- That would have been lowered the -- is that seniors guts -- away Europeans and others to block against. One on -- The did the big thing that happened -- Medicare also was having about four and seven. Billion dollars in cuts over the next ten years. And most most of the savings would come from. Align Medicare prescription -- repayment of Medicaid in -- things but. Is about 68 billion dollars in costs that would be spread on to beneficiaries in the next ten years and people need to know about vote. So some of those include increasing the income related part being part. 50000 -- we talk about that. Last week people on people don't know that they're getting. That they at the table for part -- -- he would have -- come over certain. He 5000 severely reduce that level to eat 50000. About it without yeah. And then today that it they're increasing brand name prescription drug co payments -- part the requiring -- released a higher part B deductible and then increasing part B premiums. The beneficiaries who by generous Medigap policy. So a lot of changes that would come if this you know budget -- it. So it sounds like the the the agenda is penalize people who saved for retirement and accumulated wealth during their working years. Yeah notes that because it's a positive incentive. Dave yeah is it the right thing an analyst -- you find that you know people are robbing Peter and Paul easily. I can contain as much as 400 dollars for almost 400 dollar treat Medicare part B right if you happen to have a lot of income post the other -- five. So that that that you know the the bad it is. If your state very talented no problem in -- more -- -- -- -- -- the other big change various perhaps to do with -- IRA. So. They have been the proposal right again to a proposal but it would require. Our -- a raw fiery owners at age seventy and a half which is same as or other retirement account is now. That's -- open in the first place you know warranties. Adamant that. Don't give beneficiaries and only you know they have to take on these when he inherited but it grows tax. Deterred forever and lead Don and that would go away. One. It's just that it hits just keep on -- on -- I'm afraid dealt with directly to only proposal buried and -- what what will happen here as it will you know go through a round of negotiations. And I suspect that some of that psychopath but not all that. Knew him then there is some stuff in there about Social Security to jury that like you you're not condone the file and suspend and all those. Yes no that's not been where people are you know sort of taking advantage of that a loophole it's just how obscurity is organized but people are now being told to take advantage of bio. The claim suspense strategy which allows band to you know have their spouse -- there at the spousal benefit. And at their. That. Increase and -- and get back on the date seventy and and you know it's legal. And so right by the government -- watching this is beyond me you know most people so they -- but it is only a small practice people actually I think follow the strategy.
