This is the financial exchange with the very Armstrong and jokes are and a you're exclusive look at business and financial news affecting your day your sick leave your world. Stay informed and up today about economic and market trends plus get breaking business news every day. And now the financial exchange with the Barry Armstrong and chuck saga. Learning more by the game. It relates to the 737. And acts. Plane that crashed in Ethiopia we will talk about it Carlos go back in jail that look for Japan might. And finally we're talking about Tesla holy smokes if you shares of Tesla where you know it's going on the cart stock is down 26 dollars this year. Hi everybody it's buried truck with you here on Thursday morning and chuck the it good news that I continue to read about this 737 Max. Blame it it sounds like it's a confluence of yours sounds like there's something wrong with the plane but it sounds like maybe the pilot work quite as prepared to fly this plane. As they should. Yet it's a combination of things up pretty much what they said Ethiopia Ethiopian authorities yesterday. Announced that pretty much what what happened here what they what they believe happened at least was that this MC AES system. That helps prevent the 737 Max from pitching up installing. Being gauged accidentally because the censor that powers was damaged. And so it effectively that sensors thought the plane was pitching up installing when in fact it was not so this MC AES system. Told the plane's nose to pitch down pilots kind of realized what was happening turned it off temporarily. But when that didn't fix the problem quickly enough. They accidentally turned it back on. Just prior to the crashes when it sounds like now. And so this all stems from the reason that this system is in the 737 Max. Is because part of the way that you know bone marketed this plane was tapes can be more fuel efficient. But in order for it to actually be more fuel efficient they had to put bigger engines on the 737 which is a problem. Because the 737. Was designed back in the 1960s. When here's here's what's really interesting about it. It's designed to be you low to the ground in terms of its its landing gear very kind of shorten stubby. In the reason why is that. The way most people boarded planes in the sixties was a three jet way but through a set of stairs up to the planes so they built the plane. To be low to the ground to minimize the number of stairs. That problem doesn't really exist today. But they've kinda had a shoe worn in this all this technology into this plane and so. When they put bigger engines on the plane they had to move them forward so they wouldn't hit the ground when the plane landed. And that causes the nose to pitch up hence the need for this NCA AS systems so it's. The but the real problem is as I see. Is Boeing wanted to be able to sell these planes with the promise of pay you don't need to recertify your pilots it's going to be the same plane did add to nut about. In in wanting to do that. It's not so much that they took shortcuts it's more just that they said okay let's squeeze everything in that we can't even if it's not the best possible design. And that's why you have all these weird things that are new kind of on this plane like the system isn't in use on any other Boeing plane. If you don't need because they're designed brand new from the ground up not shoe horned into an old plane to try to make sales so that you know they can I can make sales more quickly. The problem is chuck that's complicated tax. It is emulate I almost. If they didn't have 5000 orders you know if this word the 747 where they were having these problems where they have I think like twenty more orders they have to fill. Big scrap the whole thing and say let's start over there with a clean slate. When you've got 5000 orders new producing sixty of these a month. That means you've got a seven year backlog on these planes and if you say hey we're scrapping it in building something new. That airplane isn't ready for a decade. Any thoughts on why the stock would be up today it's a nine dollars I think it's just on the the idea that they're getting towards at least identifying and be a closer to a solution on these problem to get these planes flying again. And get revenue flowing back to bone again. I heard a rumor this morning on here. What are you got. My rumor might Mikey in unsubstantiated. Rumor though boy is that part of the China trade deal is that China is in order and an additional 300 of these jets. If I mean if that's true it'll help but I don't think that's you know that's not enough. Why haven't seen that rumor anywhere so I guess this is it's even before the publication stage so. And look at me if it's true will certainly help Boeing. But they again those orders are being field you know for a long time at this point it's not like that's gonna generate revenue for Boeing today. Let's go on to a Carlos go to say yeah I told you back in November smelled a rat. And Japan has done nothing to dissuade my opinion on the AMP now their date they arrested him this morning. And they said well we've we found some more room eat some more fraud that we suspect. And my position on this track is invested arrests of 1 November 7 right. Yeah it was back in early. A November 19 I think was the first date and then. He was finally released on bail on March 6 though so about a month ago but about four months after he was originally. Arrested. And now they've re arrest him on these potential new charges. But. I think I tend to agree with US skeptical of first but the more you look at this. It would give it did they're not really providing a whole lot of detail as far as you know what's actually happened here they're not going in to. You know the not letting him be a speak with an attorney and a regular basis it's just it. It is still under house arrest I mean if it's if every if they've got so much evidence to bring it to trial retrenchment that the point that he would like keep arresting this guy. I would not visit Japan as a result that this you know there's a lot of countries on my list that I wouldn't does like I wouldn't go to Mexico. I wouldn't go to China. And I sure certainly I would go to Russia and I wouldn't go to Japan. Mean I don't think the average US citizens at risk over something like this nobody I I agree but at the same point. I mean you have no right so there right day they say what you shoplift it. While knowing that in chop Torre were resting new word keep in jail for ninety days 120 days this week week Merck could accuse you shoplifting. We're gonna accuse you Jay walking we agree but have you ever heard. That happening in Japan. I got. Again I'd I think this is kind of a unique case like an opening of people who spent a lot of time in Japan now that we don't get arrested on a regular basis. They act I would not I I think Japan looks bad publicity in oak entitled to hype I may have make them face it we could be sitting here. In six months and they provide. You know tremendous documentation. Carlos gold admits that he's guilty in you know then that I feel good dope but even even if I feel like him don't. I can tell you their legal system there track. Has a lot to be desired. Well it does reality egg and it's it's just a reminder that you know the legal systems and other countries are not necessarily the same as the US and don't necessarily afford the same protections. To people as the United States. Egg and I do think this is kind of be neat case you know and that the average American going over there is equally do not control a multi billion dollar business that. You know wants to emerge in Japanese assets so. Again I know a whole bunch of people that have spent. Significant amounts of time in Japan. And I'm not even talking about you know perfectly upstanding citizen I'm talking about you know people who don't flawed and you do dumb stuff just like everyone else. And they were really running any problems over there. There you know but say who else is going to be spending some time in court the next day here too is that would be Elon Musk of tussle. Not only that did you get the delivery numbers that they reported it was late last night that I'm not sure what time it was I looked at my phone and and it text message saying all they they missed I didn't miss that likely to get clobbered in terms of there automobile deliveries. Yeah we're we're do you wanna start with you one's legal troubles of the deliveries to start with deliveries candle go to leave. So here's the issue on deliveries. Tesla announced yesterday that they delivered about 63000. Vehicles. Ian at the first quarter and estimate. For most analysts was about 73500. So they missed. They're pretty significantly by about 1718%. And Tesla explanation. Was hey we had more people that were buying these cars internationally and so we actually have about 101000 vehicles in transit right now to get to them. That out and out enough. Oh my point is will look. If you knew if you know that you have additional X if you know you have additional buyers that are near international buyers. Figure out how the heck to get your horse and so you can get paid like that's that's kind of your do your job as a company so. If that is true okay in theory we should see a nice little bomb for Q2 then but I think there's real question what I continue to come back to. Is you know they're doing this with this huge backlog of model three orders they have that 400000 initial orders that they were so proud of that they talked. Immediately after the bay big debut of the car I think yet to three years ago. And so they're doing this with all of that backlog. That eventually they're going to eat through probably towards the end of this year that backlog that backlog will be completely eaten through. And when I really wonder and what this is where I've been curious about for a long time is once that backlog is gone. Do they have the new demand are they still gonna find. 400000. People a year who want to buy the model three is here's what's interest in so that the well executed the question notre it is to they have. People that wanna buy 50000 or if you wanna buy it 35 so I think it did I even say in general OK and here's why. Out of all vehicles price between forty and 60000 dollars that were sold in the last quarter. Mail the Tesla model three accounted for 33%. Of all sedan sales in that price range so. In order to maintain this you've got to say that Tesla the model three is always going to be a third of all sales and that price range. I just don't know that's realistic. Going forward once once that hole. Backlog is easy and through you know it's like well one car's gonna sell a third of the models and price range him and the other problem they have chuck Hughes. Unity said oh lord have yes you know the thoughts on SUV it's just a sedan hatchback. Well in in beyond that here's another one that's interesting. The model S in model X deliveries. They went for 27000. In the fourth quarter down to twelfth. In the first. Know why by one of those for underground. Right when you get a model through a lot of people like the bottle three better than the model us I think the money we will destroy artery. If well if you look at driver reviews right people are raving about the three they picked that one thing you have to give them credit for. Is he is built a product were people. They like it's going to bumper doesn't fall from the snow brown you know that particular it is good that the bumpers to stay on the colors you know. Now we're at any time will tell but Tesla shares are down 26 dollars a share or 9%. And then the other issue hanging over Tesla. Is whether Elon Musk will still be the CEO. After. That judge makes a ruling he's in court today at about 2 o'clock in the afternoon. And it's on contempt of court charges by the Securities and Exchange Commission. And the judge is going to hear the arguments from both sides. And that probably make a ruling. I would think within sixty days she will make a ruling as to what kind of penalty if any. Will be levied against mr. mosque in the board of tests. Yeah this in this all stems from a tweet that he had. Put out originally back in August of last year worried that beer claim that he could take the company private when in fact he could not. And the new issue stems from a tweet Denon February 9. Where he said the test will make around 500000. Cars a year. Where the couple hours later you post a correction saying actually it was 400000 cars a year not 500 dollars so. We've we've actually gotten to the point now where we're trying to figure out if a CEO of a fifty billion dollar company. Has enough supervision. Over what he types in a short format message that sent out across the Internet play gets it when you break it down to its its its merits. Man this is like this the kind of story that on its surface is just kind of really don't like it's it's it's it's really dumb on one level but it's also. What people do trade based on what CEOs tweet out now. It's like it's a viable means of communication for better for worse and rule itself in court again in and so. You know that the question here is whether you lawns baby sitter was doing a good enough job. Our poll question today is will Elon Musk still be the CEO of Tesla in six months I voted on this truck I said no I don't think he will be. Either he'll stepped down or the gentle say the board he has to go what are your thoughts. And we I'm gonna vote I know is well with the on this one and by the way I think it's an of the baby sitter which are called Twitter sitter just his crown as it sounds nice. You know president could use one of those two winners out of the at any rate you could participate in our poll by visiting our website financial exchange showed dot com or you can text us with your thoughts on that topic. 63566. Unaffiliated but folks this is Mike Armstrong from the financial exchange I'm joined now by. Yeah I I go back to the first apartment that I ever rented us there were five of us in this. Franklin is terrible Somerville apartment. But we're all trying to coordinate our Renton it was a bit from NASA and kind of heinous. How does this all work on on the platform are you able to split out the rants of how does that really make the landlords like. A little bit easier. Shore Michael thanks so we created zero rents really automating simplify the whole range collection process for landlords and property managers. And what we do is we we basically if there's individual tenants will debit them individually and patched their payments together and sentenced to its. So landlords love it winner you know a single unit landlord or more of a professional landlord and hundreds of units. They use this product. For the reporting the automated rent collection for the tenant. Rent splitting so it's it's been great. That's pretty nice there you mentioned and most importantly it's completely reprise Harry get it offered for free yes hello our strategy has been a little bit different we don't charge tenants and we don't charge. To what we do is we actually licenses through banks. Who then offering to their landmark it's. And for being a client of that being too becomes a free service to vote the way in the hours and tends attacks at a number of different New England local bank set up more we do we have quite a few institutions are all available on the rent dot Nazis can go and see always adding new institutions. What more point as it relates to test you on plus chart. Does it. If he's the CEO he's still going to be the largest shareholder in the company. He still gonna have a lot of control even if he's not the CEO let's let's say the judge says yes your your immediate you can't be this you anymore. And they appoint you know one of his proteges. And then he is likely chief creative director he still controlling that whatever the CEO in the sealed vote do. It really depends on the specific set up a mean and I'm one level of yes that could be a case can be something where. You know the judge could say look you're you're not fit to even you know the judge to kick it back to the SEC you could say look you can even be in the cease we'd of this company anymore. You know it you're you're not even. Able to be in that position and I think that the big thing for me is just that. But when you buy Tesla Stockton now by car but when you buy tussle stock heck actually even when you buy a car to a certain extent. You're not buying just the car or the stock as it is today. You buying that promise of you on mosque and what he's selling it for tomorrow it's it's the idea of that whole ecosystem where. Yeah you go home at night and you plug your Tesla and your power wall that was supplied by your Tesla solar cells or solar city solar cells. And it's it's that whole thing because the car company on its own. Isn't worth sixty billion dollars in LA nah no one in the right mind will come out and say that it's actually worth that much because. You look at you know all your other major auto makers. And they make. For more vehicles than Tesla in some of them aren't even valued anywhere near where Tass news so. I think that you know you want musk is. Is very important to the stock price of that company could he be you know taking a kind of subordinate role where he's actually still in charge. Could but I at a certain point the SEC might just say what you can work for this company anymore they gets. You know here's here's the other thing let's say that he takes a quote subordinate role and then it turns out that you know he's sending leadership emails and doing all the stuff the CEO would normally do. Well SEC's gonna say. As we really do when he you know against that there's a pretty clear paper trail with the emails so I. I have some sympathy for Elon to a certain extent because look he is a guy's gotten where he's gotten by breaking the rules and being unconventional. And doing things that people tell me can't do so. It's not but I do think it's just when you have really creative people to not good at staying inside the lines and so I have sympathy from that perspective in that. Look and get words coming from on some of the stuff but. Look when when you have it took its its classic Spiderman with great power comes great responsibility. Like that's that's just the Dili on like you your held to a higher standard than the average person. In New York Times is reporting. President trumps manufacturing. May soon be coming to an end. Largely because of his terror policies. So we we picked up a lot of mean. Manufacturing jobs I think what about half a million jobs this present was inaugurated. Yet you added a half million manufacturing jobs. Including the past nineteen months in a row where we saw manufacturing jobs gains. We get the the march data coming out on Friday tomorrow so we're gonna see if that it's twenty months. But we did see is that in February. The growth in the manufacturing sector slowed from a job perspective. Down only 4000 net new jobs created for the month that's the weakest data in over a year. And what we saw from eighty. Plus 52 CNET German number that came up this morning I did it's it's a little bit spooky there. I've I've been harping on German manufacturing for the last few months just because. German manufacturing is effectively the European economy for better for worse you know that's that's what it is and we got some bad numbers there that won't talk about a little bit. Coming up we're gonna have Wall Street want to take a look at how the markets performing I can't tell you it's kind of weird but Dow's up 129 point that the NASDAQ is down seven. Also gonna talk about target. Raising their minimum wage to thirteen dollars down. Life goes on FaceBook and followers on Twitter. Down about three quarters of a percent but the second worst performing sector. Is utilities and other as a kind of strange bedfellows. On a daily this and we see the same thing on the positive side of the ledger to. Best performing sector industrials up about half percent. The right behind them communications services so there you've you've got this this strange mix there's no clear direction. In markets overall today we take a look at just the biggest individual winners and losers in the S&P. On the positive side Constellation Brands of 3.4 percent Dow. Up three point 18 Harley-Davidson. And analyst number 449250. Subject credit approval leader bank a step ahead. Notice you never hear about the fight for fifteen anymore or as the big deal maybe three or four years ago you have it. You know just lots of protests we want fifteen dollars an hour. Now at fifteen dollars an hour that that's chump change companies have thrown in the towel you know. They early let me target. Is raising their minimum wage to thirteen dollars that's our that's just for entry level workers rate with those skills training at thirteen bucks and now. Yeah they're going to thirteen bucks an hour starting in June for all current and new employees. In their planning on hitting that fifteen dollar an hour mark by the end of 20/20 so in the next eighteen months. That is. Going to be happening. This is also just you give you comparison. It's higher than wal mart's eleven dollar an hour minimum wage that just when new affect about a year ago. But it is below Amazon's minimum wage which they bumped up to fifteen an hour last November so. You know you're seeing across the board for whether it's retail or warehouse jobs and things like that you see an awful lot of wage pressure and that comes from the fact. Again you you talked to just about any employer out there I don't care what business there and they could be into trucking. They could be in banking they could be in. Hotel. What Polanski burst now they've my son you know landscaping company yet. That's really hard work unit that your out there in ninety degree weather you facts or your knees sore. If he has to pay big money. To finally it's. Aaliyah and and it is you know we're heading right in the tent that peak season worried also have. You know a lot in in the northeast a lot of the you know tourist establishment to start mechanical movements of the cape all the way up the main coast down you know through you know. Newport and things like that Rhode Island the mean you've got all these places that are sadness and gee we need to find you know Cox we got to find waitresses we got to find waiters we get final these people out and it's hoped to find him right now it's in and that you. They got a little bit of relief in that we are adding more foreign workers it did we increase our foreign worker permit by 30000 of them. Did little help a little bit I don't know fits it's big enough to make the age they you know real dent their just because. You know that it's gonna be spread across the entire country. But it's it's something that might give a little bit of relief at least out. As doctor pokes at the Chatham bars in yeah and they had a heck of timeless. On her. In all the surround and in. That's a premium resort rate they paid paid top dollar in theirs they're having difficulty finding workers imagine your running claim ship Ankara. A beach bar war and a B&B I mean. It's just tough to find workers because they they're first of all there's not that many young families on the cape. And once you have a lot of those kids are world worked that day that not willing to scoop my career as a kind of job that they want. Yeah it's it's we've we've talked about it before one of the biggest ships that we have seen in the US workforce. Aside from were older workers working longer. Is the fact that people in new starting at age fifteen up the rage 24. They're not taken summer jobs anymore. Not in the same numbers they used to it used to be go back to the eighties and I think the labor force participation rate in the summer was somewhere around. Like 65 or 70% for new kids that age range and today it's like 37 or 38% it's like almost half of what it used to be. Things have changed and I'm not sure that's actually. Good for society now I know. The argument I hear from young thing parents would be well you know he's taking and in an unpaid intern ship or. He's going to work camper inability they're not doing. Pacific gas and electric announced the appointment of the chief executive and ten new board members on Wednesday to improve the safety culture. And operational effectiveness. At the embattled California utility it just took a peek at their stock truck. Trading at nineteen dollars a share that's down from me 52 week high of 49 dollars Berkshire. Yen and impede Jeannie obviously trying to figure out you know how to go through. This bankruptcy that there are in the process of you know working through right now and come out on the other side. The big thing that they are trying to figure out right now. Is look what are the safety problems that we have that we can reliably deal with and I think also part of this is going to be. They had we'd give interface and negotiate with the you know California government. To get through any type of rate increases we need to neo. Budget forward you know these safety programs that we weren't undertaking previously. And can we do that in such a way that pay the state of California well actually grant us the rate increases we need instead of trying to keep rates down just to keep ratepayers. An I guess that's by the ultimate question here truck you first I wouldn't touch the stock because there's all those unknowns you just referenced. But you know the big change the board and they bring in a new CEO. And that that entire board and that entire seat is that new CEOs gonna be asking the same questions we need more money. Lately we have to charge your customers markedly more money for their electricity or rent the same damn problem we had. When when we kill. Well on in I think if if you want answers as to how they gonna go about this look no further than give the composition of the board members they're bringing in one of them Nora Brownell. Is or was the commissioner of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission so it's someone who's tied in the regulators pretty closely. Another one Jeffrey blight she is a partner at a big law firm that specializes. In this kind of interaction with governments for May have kind of almost lobbying on behalf of utilities. And then. Yeah they've also brought in in in near kind of discussed. These changes with three investment firms Abrams capital management Knight had in redwood. And I think those when he talked about you know what what they're trying to do it take. They're accessed capital so okay they're looking and saying okay here's what you need to do in order for us to consider making investment in your company to try to get out of this. Which which is a long way of saying. Rates have to go opposite I mean to me I get a kick out of it people politicians. Shouldn't be involved in this this needs to be separate body that is not politically influence because the problem is he news. Local states as an example Massachusetts. More acutely has to run for office right yet she's charged with the responsibility. Of determining. How much utility companies can charge for their electricity in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts but how do you. Sir how do you build a body that really isn't politically influenced at all. The key is it at some level either. You're going to have you know a group of people that are appointed by someone who was political in or you can have direct voting on its you know. It's I don't think the answer is to get away from me a political processes your kids you can't. Like that the reason that we have the elections in this country is because we say hey that's a better political process then you know dictatorships like that you have to pick. What works. So I think it's okay how do we build the right political process so that these appointments are politicized you know the same way. That they have been previously in the you don't have the same things happen. But here's the problem with that theory track is people died in California than him and the so do people investors lost a lot of money people lost their homes. And it's because of decisions made by politicians 510 and twenty years ago. But how well what's what's the solution to get away from political decisions Obama's Danone. You expect that don't have an answer I just I what I can tell you is that there's Major League who were killing people right now with the way we're going about the process. Oh I I don't disagree but. You can't get awake at some point everyone in government whether they're appointed directly indirectly however it. That there's politics that's involved in all this the key in my opinion. Isn't to pretend that politics doesn't exist. But instead say hey how do we build assistance that the worst impulses of politicians. Are you able to be easily. You put through this policy. You know it because the ears that they if you lost your home or your loved one in this fires. Indy it and turn the clock back and say would you be willing to pay an extra 15% for your electricity. They'd all say yes of course at pale and an extra 15% if that's not really fair to everyone always wants to. Pay after the fact and something goes wrong. You know note if if you ask people in Massachusetts right now. Yes people in New Hampshire and a US I don't Rhode Island do you wanna pay an extra 15%. Analysts say no but the second something like this happens they say will we would have paid more or nobody would know. After we went through our five date power outage after hurricanes and are a lot of people that would have been well in the pay much more for their electricity. Death bits and and then you know six months after that dude that's in the past they'd say Q why are we still paying these high rates you know. Ironic because we will pay for electricity that we take care hurdle. Right they're right it is something goes you know your grass is getting to our better get out there at a yup right. The driveways hawkish I've that are out there fixer house he beat me I gotta pace of if it paint it. The electricity the holiday. When we get that without electricity outright that the actress you know it's really not that much. Yeah the parent company of corona Constellation Brands is going to be selling off about thirty different subsidiaries. In a one point seven billion dollar deal we gonna be selling these brands. In this tobacco companies rate is two Altria bought Jules. Which I guess isn't it isn't campus that I would think that the tobacco companies would be all over the campus news. Yes you you would seem to think that they would be kind of the first ones in the door they're just because they looked that they've got in had a gross and got a track record grown stuff and they have the other side of the equation that they've got the a massive distribution as well. I think the one thing that might be a little bit difference is just. If you look at the wine and spirits companies they're more familiar I think with dealing with kind of distribution on a state by state basis discuss alcohol laws differ so much from state to state. And I wonder if that might play into the equation as far as just having the network of contacts on that side of the. Things. Could be. In the end up today about economic and market trends plus get breaking business news every day it's. And now the financial exchange with Barry Armstrong and sharks done us. We're seeing a pretty good rally on Wall Street. The Dow up 154. Points in the S&P up three points NASDAQ is off nine points but one stock in particular. Is having a very difficult morning that would be Tesla. Tesla shares are down 24 dollars a share or eight point 3%. On news that their first quarter deliveries. Plummeted and I think the fact that their. CEOs going to be in court today doesn't help hi everybody it's aryan truck with you here on Thursday morning and tussle top stories top story today in my gosh for company for fifty billion dollar company seemed to be the lead story pretty regular. They certainly do and what what's interesting about Tesla stock at this point. You know oh a lot of the people that you know speaks so fondly of the company. You know were the early there early buyers of people bought in 2013 you know thirty or forty bucks a share in the eroded up to 250. Violate 2014. The fact is if you've owned Tesla stock over the last five years now. You may next to no money. You know it's for all the talk about all this is a growth company it's revolution. This is why we get concerned when companies out race near kind of reached too far beyond their real valuations is pay if the company runs up so much. It takes awhile for the sales growth to catch up if it ever does and you might end up with a stagnant company for awhile even though there's still pianist shown improvement from a year ago. Hey that's kind of baked into the stock price to beacon. Well in the stock market saints down today mr. mosque has appointment judge today at 2 o'clock in the afternoon related to. Tweaked that the SEC. Is accusing him saying hey. That you didn't get this run through your regulatory. You're supposed to be which caught us senator and Tweeter Twitter sitter twitters that are yet you needs twitters that are. What he's got pretty and he said he uses to voters that are. But he didn't and now he's in court. Lord knows about the judges rule as the FCC's argument is. You. Judge you rule prettiest that orders that are he violated that rule what he gonna do about it. What the big question is what does the object to date as you know the mosque has not helped himself by throwing rocks at both the SEC and Judd. If on the judge to throw the book. Well my unclear of is does the judge make the judgment here does it they just simply kick it back to the SEC and say you guys do what you want with them now. I I'm unclear on that. Well the the SEC is asking first but the judge to rule on his defiance and breaking of of that rule I think what the judge does that then the SEC can say well because of the ruling came down from the judge you can no longer be easy. Okay okay and that's that that's my big question our audience today surprisingly. Most of our listeners think that Elon Musk will still be the CEO of Tesla. In six months I voted no I don't think he will be. I think he'll have some other title within the company you'll still be a major stockholders though a lot of influence. But I don't think he's going to be CEO like I don't see how we can break out usher he wants to be the CEO yeah he's he. Ilan is a brilliant artist now. He are not need the spotlight though. They still have the spot he likes being in the public guy he can still cut that you know it's a he can but he can't. Be you know it's have you ever heard of a rock star you know. Doesn't exist you know like. It's what all the glory because if you're the CEO you know the glory that's what it is no one ever talks about like a rock star vice president like ultimately. You on muscle right hand man is the person who were. The windows that you know it's less. It'll work here if you are the rock stars he opposed to promote it to see Il yes exactly. Well our poll question today and you can participate by visiting our website its financial exchange com. Will Elon Musk still beat the CEO Tesla in six months if you prefer to text us or text numbers 63566. Saw an article in the New York Times today about drug sites up ending the doctor patient relationship. It's restaurant menu medicine. Basically pot of people millions of people are ordering drugs on line without getting medical consultation so. Yeah and it's you know at this point when you talk about the you know the stuff that is being. Prescribed via this method the biggest one that has kind of in making the rounds over the last probably year or so I would say is this website called Roman which is you know to get you know generic Viagra and all that stuff. But what what's really interesting about this is. Would that they have licensed doctors who work for the company. But they're not really doing a sit down full consultation necessarily they pretty much just enter some basic health information on their own. And the doctor says kind of yes or no and so. It's it's a case where you know for purse neither aid just knows what symptoms to report in order to get. These drugs or you would just be put something in that you know might be wrong but still ends a -- being approved you know really sitting down and talking with the doctor. Or something you know that's a powerful you put in your system I mean. It's easy you don't have that same relationship and you know tell me how many times either you and Matt be it maybe you've done this to. You you have a health problem right at some point. Where's the first place you go you Google music of it what's wrong with me should should my head be hurting like the united admittedly yes sharp pain in lower left abdomen what if indeed Google it and it tells you a you're dying and beat there's nothing they can do have been down the WebMD radical yet like you Google any health problem and within five minutes you're convinced that you're dying. And so. I just. I think my concern is that. Patients are really in the best. Point of view the investor and the best seat to me health decisions on their own just because. They often don't know we you know the range of real the range of symptoms and how good or bad things can be. And so you know this kind of takes the ability to actually talked to someone who's. You know qualified away from patients they might get the drug they request but it might now be the drug they need. Just tell you that there's an appetite for telemedicine doesn't yes very much so. He very much so you know the beat the Roman newspaper. You know erect tile dysfunction so a lot of people don't wanna go to their doctor for that cuddling. But if you do it by telemedicine. And and I think many medical conditions if you could you know if he'd check your blood pressure hole. If you could go in and get a quick blood test done and then talk to your daughter doctor and computer screen. You know for a lot of people especially people who live in remote areas would be very attractive alternative medicine. Yet that the toughest things is getting people to be you know do those test reliably on their own giving example for for blood pressure then. It's very specific in terms of how you have to measure your blood pressure you have to be sitting down feet flat on the floor not moving your arms not talking to anyone. They really keep you can't be doing anything so let's say that you decide okay I'm gonna take my blood pressure but you're on the phone while you're doing it. Gonna give you an inaccurate reading. Yet in it and then if you put that reading you and the doctors here at gate you know who haven't seen UN how are you took the tester gonna say. You've got really have blood pressure when really you know you were just kind of leaning down to you were tying your shoe while you were taken the test and didn't realize he couldn't do that. Well week in the see it's it's an interesting time in medicine because. There's an appetite port in the again be you know people don't wanna go to the doctor time that this novel right. It's true subway yuppie if he could get that delivered. Without happened to. You know maybe because they about how our how long do you wait a doctor's office peace Torre actually see the doctor thirty minutes forty minutes. A wait that long in my mind's pretty quick come easily. 510 minutes now men. I get a good one keep him here for no way to I don't want the competition. I don't want to get too busy. I understand I understand. Let's talk about we work we work is swept up another start up. In a bid to bolster its strength as a global workspace company so we work as I understand it. Is basically. Temporary office space race. It's yet that there are glorified landlord that you know offers perks no they they dress up their spaces so they have bars in though men table tennis things in all like all kinds of fun stuff for employees. But the acquisition that they made here. It's somewhere because in between 20250. Million dollars. And it is a company called managed by huge that they bought. And pretty much what it does is this company helps to. Handle a lot of the back and assess these big going to maintaining an office so. Things like keeping track of cleaning and office supplies. Requesting handyman and cleaning schedules. You know this the stuff that keeps an office going but no one ever really thinks of and so it looks like we work. Is trying to you know bring this all in house instead of having to route rely on outside contractors to do a lot of this work. Trying to bring this in kind of as part of the package that they can offer and my guess is you know. Realistically there probably trying to cut cost in doing this my guess is they're trying to cut cost you know so they can have wider profit margins not so they can you make their places and. Affordable. They are pretty affordable Lee if you look at temporary office this I have been used we work in particular but. The United States declared war on Germany enjoyed the first world war we will be asking trivia questions about World War I. What was the name of Germany's plan to fight eat too. Front war and in shore victory for the triple alliance great question. Great questions that'll put. On New Zealand. Are our text number is 63566. Listener number nine with the correct answer will win the fifty dollar gas card if you haven't played Turkey before you must put my first name's Mary. Before you type in 6356. X elect to do that the first time playing true. 63566. What was the name of Germany's plan. To fight two front war and insure victory with the triple O line 63566. Avengers and gain another Disney movie coming out. Sold a lot of tickets in advance which I didn't really knows a thing. Yet it's it's. Big down in terms of if you wanna go for me on particular opening night or things like that on these big movie releases. But the deal here is that. Fandango which is a company is owned by Comcast that the the dominant player and Internet movie ticketing. And they broke a single day record that was previously set by Disney Star Wars the force a weakens movie back in 2015. And what they said here is that this avengers in game movie. Made more money in its first six hours on Fandango then the full day record set by the force awakens. So that's pretty oppressive the force awakens by the way opened with 248. Million dollars. In its opening weekend. And so that's kind of what year you're seeing him targeted here now. Four avengers and game last year. Avengers infinity war which is the prequel to this. Did 258. Million dollars for the first weekend and it's the biggest open in the United States in history. Did 679. Million overall and just north of two billion worldwide. The expectation expectations. On in game are that you could see north of 2.2 to 2.5 billion dollars when it's all said and on. So you've got this movie character is coming up this week candor it's in three weeks. And there's our way to sell to borrowers and naked parties they could sell more tickets this this thing is going to be a monster. It's going to be. I I went to Seattle easily go to a lot of these. Superhero movies just is I kind of feel like if you've seen one of them we've seen all of them share but this one you know they've they've kind of teases say it's kind of the end of you know the story involved while law. And it was really good actually it was a it was a well put together movie I'm I'm not a huge fan of the comic book movies generally had I haven't seen most of the other ones leading up to this but. I didn't feel out of place and feel I didn't know what was going on it was it was well done so on. I I think this is going to be an absolute behemoth and no not really going out on a limb when I say that yeah sorry. And yes but this is going to be a monster for Disney here with its crappy movies. It won't be. It won't be it's because it was shot at the same time as the previous one and directed by the same director. Well you know so it's that they're not trying to come out and say that they actually pretty much kept this a secret that no one knew that this movie was going to be coming out this year. Everyone thought infinity war last year was that the end of it. And there is a twisted the end of that mated it to be continued in that turned out they had already shot the sequel without anyone knowing them beat them. Wal-Mart and the baby business. They are there make instant upgrades in there their baby registry. Trying to gets a new parents on board there I think this probably comes on the back debate Toys 'R' Us and babies. Wal-Mart kind of saying hey we can you get people in the door. Early on and then keep some of that Toys 'R' Us businesses kids grow older. And so you know this is a pretty big thing here especially since what they are doing is well is there really making a move into digital on this so that. You know you can create a baby registry online without even having to go into Wal-Mart store anything like that. And NATO question notre currently compete with Amazon's. By doing this. Now you know Amazon's copy what Amazon already has but did it doesn't mean they shouldn't they. There's me Bulldog I without plotting I think the advantage to Wal-Mart says. He's young parents like to go in and see the stuff that there's a lot of impulse buying it goes together and if you're in the store to buy diapers. But did you end up buying. Pulleys and other baby. Be picky these. There's so much of the baby crap. It's a long list is the one thing and it was about all my friends that have babies the amount of crap in their house now is just. Mind blowing but he can't even walk through there so it's it's it's been take the baby is the smallest person in the house it has more stuff than everyone else combined. You noted is it's that first child. It is yet. We yet that first child everybody every grandparent. Every aunt uncle neighbor friend feels the need to you know. Hope you parent and give you always hate it they remember their kids. And you you can hardly walk through how's it did yup it's hard but it's as if to throw away some. Of that. My wife the only toys that were buying your cardboard boxes and sticks. As you'd guess that tells. Now so I do have of really funny story those so mind my in laws this year one of the things they were gonna do is an April fool's prank that they didn't do. There are gonna send a bunch of people wounds to my wife's office. And they didn't do it I love your in laws but here it is like me they were gonna send a bunch of pink balloons to my wife's office in just. So they see what happens you just throw a grenade in there and see what goes on that and they decided not to at the last minute that would have been genius thought it would have been so funny I would everytime I told Tucker's wife is pregnant. And you should be you know yeah oh yeah it's a we have beat you predicted that. I guess should put that on the prediction wall I got a lot of trouble. It's an effort to fanatic he. Never doing that now that didn't end well it didn't. He yelled that yelled that. His family my family my wife all lord knows awful. To be an earlier right I just wanna remind him but he. I was right to be I thirty Tucker's wife was pregnant before Tucker infused I also think that you're the person that congratulated my wife on her engagement before she posted about it publicly on FaceBook. It's possible I think you might have done that as well yeah. I lack a lot of the social graces and told okay it's entertaining. Yeah me in the problem is people are laughing with me. Laughing. It depends see them both a teacher beauties from what I've told. But he hits it pretty consistent. If they're there they're not laughing with you can hear that a lot. Here's the percent I hear that from my wife but at least their laughing. Right right that's that's my job it is to be to provide a little levity to your day. Today you don't need any levity because the Dow is up a 147. Points the S and he's only up appointment aztecs are Utley. Actually down sixteen points at 7879. Price of crude oil is down a penny. Pole here in New England in the and you might have police in Florida. Taught what a question that comes up quite often is. What are the implications. Of transferring your home to your kids in order to protect it from the nursing home yet that's one of the worst things you can do it makes my teeth which line really bad because. One you've given up control over your home front doors anymore. And that's not a comfortable feeling if my client I heard a live there. Two if you wanna sell you can't snot York if you do seller where's all the money go to the kids. Never mind all that there's a huge tax implication that comes from this if your kids are great kids right. If you bought your house you don't usually go thirty years ago you probably paid a little four. Now it's worth a lot. Right and you give it to my touchpad sale was tax free when soma house's tax free except it's not your she gave it your children this example and that's the problem. And then you give them your basis. And if you give them your cost basis all that Hilton gain. Is gonna be taxed to the children so that's the tax prop you don't get that tax free sale when you can literally tear kids you don't that's a big night. So I mean right there if you have given it to them now now even if they agreed to sell it they got to pay that. Acts that you don't have the money you hope they give it back Q and then there's just tax. Nightmares have you ever thought about the best way to own and protect your home or even your vacation property. On all of the alleged benefits of CBD products ranging from royals too soft gels to companies. Well it sure she'd a lot of this truck I don't know your observation is it just seemed like. With the advent of campus. Eat eat it security. You've got arthritis it'll cured if you got dementia. Campus here areas like it to cure yet it seems like there's some pretty outlandish claims that are being made and in fact in this letter that Scott Gottlieb wrote on March 28. He says that these three companies have asserted quote unfounded egregious claims about their products' ability. To limit treat or cure cancer. Neuro degenerative conditions autoimmune diseases OP Hewitt used disorder. In other serious diseases without sufficient evidence and the legally required FDA approval so. You know at this point CBD. Is in terms of the marketing and in what you have companies are saying about it. They're marketing more like a lot of these supplements that don't go through the FDA approval process right and it sure seems like they're making some claims that. Look I don't know their true were not for all I know what could do all of these things but. It's probably not a miracle drug that cures everything known to man. You know like if it were we probably would have been you'd like if it were why would anyone who smokes marijuana ever get. Sick and you don't it would bothers me is you know this false advertising is one issue. But the yes I think it nobody talks about chuck it is how strong campuses today I read a report the other night. It's like ten times as strong. As when those cute they got a good stuff now. I hit a good bet you don't eat it. You're starting to look at the psychosis issues that are caused this result in a regular campus use. In and that people. They call it it's harmless well I tell you the more I read about it and the more concerned I kept a case that we may have. I am dobbs somewhat concerned that we may have rushed through the approval process. It varies state wells and I know it's the political process and in this is what we do. But boy. You do some research about the side effects of campus especially on young people you know 1617. Year old. Yes soccer before young men they could have been more than fifteen years old. Spoken away in that way you know what's what's where where these fifteen year old going to be. You know ten years from now twenty years from now after you've been spoken to open. Together the bulk of the issues seemed to really be. With regards to. Younger usage and you know just hate you know if you are using. Marijuana in that game in your teenage years that's where you really have the higher risk of things like. You know mental illness and so forth developing it in general most of the research that I've seen at least once you get into. Premiere mid twenties two point 425 range. A lot of those risks tend to dissipate but the problem is we don't really have a good way to figure out OK how do we keep this out of the hands of 161718. Year olds just because look if if world legalizing it. Well we know already that you have. Issues as far as. Keeping alcohol out of the hands of people in those ages. And so why would we think will be any difference in the case of marijuana. Now let's parroting media a lot of it comes back to the type household you girl and how well informed me. I've I've seen cases where parents have educated kids on the dangers associated with you indicate still use it if but it's it a lot of it I think comes back to household in which you want but what kind of parents. So we yet we we have finally seen the official launch. Five G technology. Sounds like news in Korea. He's South Korea I guess it's we are taking credit for being first at South Korea is taking credit for first. Yeah you've also got Verizon in parts of Chicago and Minneapolis activating their five G wireless service which is. Oh well and good except for the fact that no cell phone currently sold in the US can actually access those five G networks so. That's what five easier group. But no phones concurrently access them. What about personal computers there're other methods using I'd like to try and thank has already raised about how fast it is. Addicted download you know like the elect's pick some of the pages that you two that are have a lot of data on them then. The fact sent to Wall Street Journal become cool to just to check and CD you notice a discernible. Difference can't connect on anything. You you probably won't be able to connect to five G networks with any mobile enabled device probably four. I would say at least six to twelve months. Apples and they're not gonna do little to late morning. Okay what about it desktop cassettes not mobile it will just dubs don't typically connect through wipe through via wireless protocols like that they'll connect to Wi-Fi but that's a different protocol. Then what we're talking about five G. Assess the way you got away united and coming and away. Six to twelve months. The F men and that so when we'll IP you'll want my next phone be fired chief don't depend so long you wait. If he is so I know apple I believe has said they're not building five G and until next year's iteration which means you probably waiting eighteen months for an apple phone. I have not seen any information from LG or Samsung on their phones and when they may be five G enabled the apple I believe is gonna be about eighteen months. As my phone now lose I think it's I've got a seven plus it's got to be three years old. I would imagine yes somewhere in that ballpark and I don't know cracked screen. Which is impressive. Impressive I've got a few screens and they wolf. I can't wait for for five G is it our cars have to right. Potentially. But it's again it's it's not something its second B standard and everything so it's it's can't take time for this to roll out of me keep in mind forgy. Was about as three and a half to five year roll out for most metro areas to actually get you know consistent four G service in new look around now lot of places in metro areas you go just outside you know ten miles outside a major city. You don't necessarily have or G even steal. B when playing it advisories. For development let's say you're you'd need him. You know prostate surgery and that's done or you can do that over the phone. It'll lead you spy chief technology so let's say your surgeon that you want to have turned laps it's you can't get it done in Worcester right. But there's at a surgeon available in Shanghai. Yes he can do that surgery from Shanghai using robotics and five G title and I I'm not having Internet based surgery absolutely not I at the future. Edison a no no no no no no no this is its EU what does this signal goes down what if you lose power. I used to hurry all I know why am like I just don't want someone like that I don't like the idea somewhat 8000 miles away. Cutting me open no no no it is the future of this old use your. You're juror. Your your your surgeries. You know yourself playing soccer there's no doctor Bill Clinton in the emergency. And note that this this this is my biggest fear aside from you know drones attacking me in in terms of my biggest technological fears. Remote surgery and drone attacks. I'm good. Delegates government it's government of men. Coming up we're going to be talking about. President trump and China's prison G perhaps announcing he summit hasn't happened yet. We wanna hear from you. Stewart Barry to 63566. And let us know what you think about the stories we discuss your team to the financial exchange radio network. She passed. Wall Street Journal is reporting that president pro Palestinian announce plans for a summit was China's president. She in pain on Thursday. When he meets the country's vice premier signaling. That contentious trade talks between two countries. May be nearing conclusion would Nazi re hearing. The other thought is that you know typically when you get to the point where world leaders actually start meeting not just you know deputies and so forth. That is usually a sign that you're getting close to the final agreement is not usually near of those people that. Passed the agreement doubt it's they kind of get together just for the ceremony of signing the whole thing. So near that would suggest that you're getting closer on this what appears interest staying. Is this according to a report out of the Wall Street Journal. Is that it does appear. That the United States. Is trying to well I keep these tariffs in place. Until Beijing actually completes. The overhauls that they are scheduled. Are supposedly scheduled. To undertake according to disagreements so. It's not something it doesn't appear the US wants to simply say. Okay we've signed an agreement and now everything's well and good tariffs are gone it seems like the US wants to keep terrorists in place until they see meaningful progress being made. On a number of these issues which to be honest and I'm not a tariff fan. What if you have been placed near negotiating in you have a country that historically. Has said one thing in done the other a lot of times. I do think it makes sense to keep him in place until you see. China live up to its commitments. In Abu what do you say to the American farmer in the American workers and manufacturing facilities because they're getting hammered on this. Well they are but look. Again my my view all along was that when you go down this road. It's going to be a painful one but if you're going to see it through see it through. You know you you don't go halfway to quote breaking bad is no more half measures bombs you go all the way or you don't do anything because. If you just simply say. OK we believe UN and will Paul the tariffs back yeah. We've seen this story from China before. Okay we've seen how the Chinese Government. Will say one thing and then do another thing one of the things that I've been reading just in terms of BF trying to read between the lines in these negotiations. It doesn't look like a lot of these promises would be fulfilled immediately looks like there's like a 78 year plan. Or fulfillment here. And so there's plenty of time where three years down the road the Chinese Government could say well the situations change we're not gonna do that and you know it's so that's one of the things that does make me a little bit nervous on this is pay if we're really not such a long time frame. It is a very easy argument the community in the future well the world has changed we're gonna do something different from what we agreed to. And it paid they may be looking at the election to thinking okay what are the chances that president trump will be seated. I wouldn't be surprised of their looking at that I mean look it's in it we're getting down to if we're starting to get towards you know election season I know that were you. Eighteen months away that is it like it's it's true like in use in the US at this point. Speaking of the Chinese truck I notice that MIT. Is hitting the pause button on its relationship. With Chinese technology firms while away in ZTE. Yeah MIT's saying that quote they are not accepting any new engagement or renewing existing ones with while way or ZTE. Or their respective subsidiaries due to federal investigations regarding violation of sanctioned restrictions so MIT obviously. On the cutting edge of BO in many different projects relating to national security. And the fact that they are saying look we need to pump the brakes on this I think is largely due to the fact that. They just don't want to be attracting potentially you know additional scrutiny wall. You've got some of these investigations going on. Depending on the outcome of those I could see them getting back involved with swallowing or ZTE but for now it sure seems like there we are kind of playing this a little bit. Cautiously. What do what percentage of the MIT student bodies Chinese. But you can find out and we do little Google it's it's a large number. I'd be surprised if it was less than 9%. Let's see if I can pull this up here OK so international students make up about 29 point 6%. Of MIT student body. Let's see if we have a breakdown by very wide choice though if you go 29%. That's from a lot of different countries. As MIT. I still think it's of this school world like you know the you know the Harvard people at the Princeton people and Stanford people disagree. But in my opinion you look at the brain power comes at a MIT noted the differences the MIT kids are. Scientists. Believe you'd get brilliant people coming out of it better thinkers coming up Princeton Harvard and Stanford. But they did the pure scientists tend to come to. I have the information by the way on the composition of the international students there. In 97 and a half percent Chinese. The next closest is India. Which is about two and a half percent. Canada is about 2%. South Korea's about one point seven. And then France Germany Singapore Spain Brazil in the UK are all between three quarters of a percent and 1%. That's Iowa show open my guess is that probably shows up as China. I would imagine but let's 37 and a half percent. MIT student bodies from. Amiga moved through I've got a full list here we go to Taiwan though it does show up separately apps actually. So it's about. Point six point 7% 83 students in the most recent year. Attended him I guess he does is kinda on pretty. Yeah pretty close to percent number. Actually enhance our that was exchange students not full time ones let me see what we have. At that how do you spell Taiwan there it is. It's about point six CA eight point once again you're pretty close. Pretty close yeah. The I wonder how many of those Chinese students are military. That data note does not. That's a big thing news nobody talks about that put a lot of these Chinese kids that are going to colleges here in the United States with the you're. You know university in Everett Chinese military there's tears as. Gather data as it's. The Dow was up a 124. Points the S&P is flat at nasdaq's down 22 point crude was down eight cents a barrel trading at 6238. Have a great day everybody we'll talk about lockbox.
