This is the financial exchange with the very Armstrong and sharks are down. You're exclusive look at business and financial news affecting your day you're sick leave your world. Stay informed and up today about an economic and market trends plus get breaking business news every day. And now the financial exchange with the very Armstrong and chuck Exxon. A pattern exists in the pattern is every time the stock market rallies. We seem to see a lot of selling it follows that rally Dow today down 194. Points after a day yesterday. My head darn good news good games in the market yesterday. It's down almost 200 points today we'll try to explain why and we'll talk about how you might wanna re act to the volatility. That we're experiencing today's market were also be talking about General Motors. You know we broke the story yesterday morning is a matter of fact trading in the stock GM was halted for a period of time. And then the announcement came out so we'll talk about GM there under pressure the way from Washington. And take a look at what their stock is doing today hello everybody it's Perry and Christine Dunn joining you today we appreciate your stopping by for our program and Christine this market volatility. Is just you know it you take two steps forward in the end settlement and you take three steps back and that's or doing today. Yet people are really. Wondering how this year is gonna end up and what it means you're 2019 everybody's eyes on the consumers to see how spending is going as we begin our holiday shopping season. And you know news like GM's planned to cut jobs and closed down plants does not help the mood for sure I mean 141800. Jobs expected to be lost in the US and in Canada. Well that that's correct him and the as a relates to the volatility how much of that do you think is related to the president's comments. Regarding additional tariffs on China and it I wanna remind everybody tariffs are tax. Taxes increased taxes don't benefit anybody but he's talking about. In cricket import tariffs on top of the 25% that are supposed to go into effect on January 1 is a solid just posturing first meeting later this week or is he serious about. Increasing even import tariffs on China. You know it's it was hard to tell isn't it with him but it's people are taking it seriously enough apparently given the volatility in the markets and not so is a sure sign that. People just aren't sure whether or not so they can count on him reaching a deal that's going to be agreeable to both sides and he can't terrorists really do hurt both sides particularly in this instance to economies are so dependent upon each other. And you know a lot of the consumer goods that we've come to grow accustomed to you at reasonable prices. You know there all because of the free trade that has existed between the two countries until now. Well and it's even hitting companies like apple I mean you look at Apple's stock now trading at a 173 dollars. And he's talking about putting the attacks on iphones. Which. My gosh iphones are already pretty expensive and these taxes understand folks. When you put in attacks. The company doesn't paint attacks the company passes that tax on to the consumer just like a sales tax rate if if if if there's a terrible place on goods coming out of China. Use the consumer are going to be paying that increased cost in the form of attacks. At any rate let's move on to GM their stock actually down today 42 cents a share at 3723. We're learning more about the impetus behind the decision by General Motors. To lay off. Looks like about 141000 workers. Yes exactly and Tina the moves are gonna affect plants in you know the heartland Michigan and Ohio. As well losing Canada which I guess prime minister to go wasn't very happy about either according to reports. But Tino GM's rationale for it is let you know people's preferences are changing we're expecting. That more and more people are gonna want to buy electric and self driving vehicles. And so they're trying to free up the cash nor to invest in his new technology is so. From GM's perspective it's kind of a a short term pain for a longer term hopefully gain. Well you're right and you know these jobs that are being lost. They're good jobs in the urine Lordstown Ohio in your an auto worker making thirty bucks an hour. You're gonna have a tough time replacing that job. If you're a white collar worker an engineer in Michigan you're probably OK right your your going to be able to dean. Employment in some other field I think we're the real problems with the awful law. It's a suburb of trucks that there's actually quite a bit of work. That'll be available to a lot of those guys but that Lordstown Ohio those jobs lost and it's 12600 jobs just in Lordstown Ohio. Not sure with those workers typically do fine people employment certainly not at thirty bucks an hour. That's right and GM did say that as you mentioned you know significant percentage of the workers who are going to be laid off. On our white collar workers you know executive type jobs. On and in those markers right now at least you know while the economy is is in the seat that it's in which has been very positive with. With you know let a tight labor market you know their prospects are pretty good in terms of being able to land on their feet. How do you think that meeting between Mary Barra. And Larry Kudlow is gonna go to I'd like to be flyable yeah I was kind of wondering about that I mean she's definitely gonna have to stand firm because I'm sure she's going to be under pressure in order to do something about production neither reopened facilities or. You know I'll open new ones on. Expand capacity in some way but you know this investment in new technologies is is pretty important and she's trying to get ahead of the game so you know she's looking at it and saying you know what. Fiscally were at were doing up here right now we do see decline in expected sales of Sudan's. Mom and you know higher priced vehicles the suvs in all of that is you know she's probably looking not going all right now we're OK though you now. We need to we need to make investments in new technologies and get ahead of consumer demand. There's a lot of job morning coming out of the Washington mean the president highly critical saying that they better open up another plan to bring back jobs from China. This reminds me of the golden rule Christine. You know the golden rule is the man with the gold makes the rules and it's the stockholders in this instance I can to see guys like Carl Icahn and Warren Buffett. Going to marry bar and saying hey. The industry's changing. And you need to make changes in the way your running this company and as a stockholder. You you applaud what she's doing. As a human being you say oh my gosh my nephew just lost his job sports town my cousin just lost his job an awful law. And he's not going to be able to find meaningful employment that's the the human side of it but the fact of the matter is. These CEOs report to a board of directors in the board of directors of these companies are appointed by the shareholders of the company people who own millions of shares of GM. Are the ones that decide who's gonna sit on the board and I can assure you that those meetings are such that. You know the U you've listened in on this conference calls before Christine right date I mean that those meetings come down to yeah we have to make hard decisions periodically. And that's a General Motors announced yesterday they actually told the president they're gonna do this Sunday night. Yeah and you know shareholders invest in the future. In the future you know prospects in earnings of a company and so you know it is her job to look out and see the trends in sank. You know let people are becoming. You know more. Concerned about the environment. On looking not sustainable energy options. So you she sees the signs in the air right there and in autonomous vehicles are becoming a thing I mean they're good they're going to be our reality they're being tested around the country. On so you know she's trying to get ahead of it and make sure that she doesn't have every piece of what happened to jam before when it had to be bailed out. That's exactly the reason very good point there you know the the moves she's making now. Are actually very similar to Ford did right Ford eliminated their sedan division they they're they're you know sedan business in General Motors effectively doing the same thing somebody. But he still makes it and I guess there's always be some consumer perceptions. But not nearly as that is their work when you're thirty years. Exactly well particularly right now in this moment where you know you have a glut in oil prices so. You know oil prices and gas prices therefore aren't low enough rate now that people don't have an incentive to me to sit so again. You know she's trying to. She's trying to hedge your bets a little bit inside okay I'm an I'm gonna ride this and CV waive his lines it goes and invest in her future. So Christina have a question for you are you a real Christmas tree person or an artificial Christmas tree cutters. That is a good question so I am generally a real Chris mystery persons that we do by our industries recently here. Other others part of me that has always wonder ends may be easier to get the artificial tree but there's something about that fresh pine sense I have to say merry holiday season. You can buy today. Tan Yan on the things I've. I'm thinking about going artificial for the first time really only. Is it that pine needles are every Warren and then you know we've by U treaty. You know I don't know your prime buying your tree before the end November 1 week of December. In my tendency for December 15 usually I drive only by air. On an early conceit but economically. You look at the cost giving him by a pretty nice artificial tree for a hundred bucks right it would you pay. When you go by the lions club to buy real tree would you pay seventy bucks it. Well I'm not because I'm buying later in the season snowed under the bargain day outside a later in the season and there are few more bargains. And also I'd just like the fact that the tree will last after Christmas is confinement. He buy them only event in the day after Christmas Eve those pine beetles out there weren't. You know I'm home after Christmas you know for a few days of the mainly in accidentally tantrum entry. But I you'd Tucker word you. Ian on the real vs artificial Christmas tree you know life a living and household worth an artificial tree in a curly eleven house with a real tree and I got to say. I am leaning real tree because I do like. I'd to implement same as they actually do enjoy the experience of going out in public and actually shopping in picking out a tree and I don't mind I don't know what it is bottom. But I totally debt if you wanna go artificial because the clean up for these real trees it just a pain in the neck not only deal to clean up house. But the car audio for yet. And you don't finish cleaning up the pine needles to about August and I like pine needles in my clothes in like march still. So I'm I'm I think my accidentally this year has just like that I think we're gonna go with the the year official tree I don't blame him. It's it's just easier heats cleaner but you couldn't let us know you're gonna vote on this. You can participate in our poll by visiting us at financial exchange. Showed dot com do you have an artificial. Or do you have your real Christmas tree Austin, Texas with your thoughts on that topic our text number is 63566. When we come back. Jake tool and were talking about this account today it's called the Zuma rewards account and the thing that really caught my eye on this account is it's a savings account but sentiment that you guys are providing. Two point 05%. EPY. On that account how do you do. Yet it's one of our most popular. Retail banking products buried so. It's it checking and savings companion product Oka and if you qualify. You get some great reward so for example you 2.0 5%. EP wise you're savings account up 200000 dollars 100000. You get 1% cash back and all of beard he's suspending your debit card that's good. And you get a ATM reimbursements if you use in other things he Tia. And soda qualified by traveling in a Matta town there's not a leader bank branch nearby. I can use that ATM card number and be reimbursed the three dollars to order exactly that in so the benefit of that is that really expands a breach network you know he's any Yamon. It doesn't have to be leader main corn and if you qualify it's pretty simple unions to have your direct deposit and the bank at least 12100 a month for you need to use. You use you count at least ten transactions a month incentive for these statements oh. It's it's something that customers would do any ways of using right now right yeah it's great benefits. And yet two point 05% annual percentage yield on your savings try finding that in another bank leader bank offers it. It's called Zuma rewards account paying two point 05% annual percentage yield on bounces up to a 100000 dollars. To learn more call leader bank at 8776917900. A topics such as Christmas trees would be so controversial that our tax lines have lit up 978 writes. Very artificial trees come pre lit all the real trees were cut down in August I'm not sure that's true now in a match and not all the trees come pretty low that we had do stole string the lights and everything. Noon and particularly those relentless at says imperial look at it and they winless in things that city at one less than NAFTA do. Let's see 413 writes there's nothing better than a real treat to smell the look the fun picking it out. All adds to the quality that's true I mean we used to take her kids it was a big deal but cuter girl so. Literally. And there were often not even around Christmas. Finally writes. Very good morning we recently bought an artificial tree I already regret it although it's nice to already have it set up. I'm of the scent. A guerrilla and that's what you're talking about Kristi. Yeah exactly like the smell that new tree and the experience I think the experience of being at being able to go out and pick one as it was fun is on in dragon into your car. I made it to be my age Christine had enough dragging too. Are trying to tie it on your roof and then clean it up the pine needles in August and disease and I'm I'm I'm. You know I I talk a big game but it's all gonna come down to my wife's decision and it lets talk about CVS Aetna this deal was worked on earlier in the year. Mark portal weenie is the CEO of Aetna is walk away money did you I don't know if you noticed this Christine. When this deal closes to moral he gets 500 million dollars now. Payday that's not a bad payday it. Very significant what you think this is gonna do to the health care industry moving forward this tendon. Now me a pharmacy and then pitcher coming together. You know I I look at this and you you look at with CDS provides rate if they do a lot of care management in the pharmacy shopping for the drugs and and not. But they're they're adding that 20%. Of the cost year drugs. And then Aetna the insurance company their costs that their march 20% as well so. You look at it and I understand the via five years you know year year and combined two companies. And eventually reduce consumer costs but consumer costs are are getting just out of control I mean the you'd you run a small business Christine. You wanna put faintly you hire a worker. And they have three kids and and spouse. You're talking about 2000 dollars a month just for their health interest not to mention their 401K not to mention their dental insurance or any other benefits. Just there that you are having. Its rate means yes then to grant for some humane ever use either re exactly. So I don't know where the you know from a stockholders standpoint. It's good from a consumer standpoint I've tried using this CBS mini clinics and if you ever tried one. I have you know and for the really. Basic things. It you know works just fine you know theme we need to in and do a quick strep test or flu shot or some ninth and that's fine but obviously the more serious things you gonna bury your character. And even when you like if you just dual walked in to a CBS let's say you're just out there and their parents and sailors stop buying get a flu shot. Forget it you know it you're going to be waiting an hour to get a flu shot. Gets interesting it's actually faster allotments read you can in my doctor than to go to the minute clinic communities and the minute clinics surge you know and everything else is closed. Now they act I've been unimpressed by the minute thus far been Nate you know and even autumn fining with CBS's. I'm doing more and more of that shopping. Online listings like toothbrushes. Dental floss. Deodorant shaving cream racers I that's a fine line and a courtesy story. I'm not just that I mean Amazon is taking over another way isn't it I mean about the pill pack company Reyes so that's gonna directly compete with CBS's pharmacy. Business. And then Amazon is looking into it's dying insurance as well right I mean didn't we seen announcement a few weeks ago of travelers insurance starting to sell through Amazon. So that's going to be interesting to see how that impacts the cost structure and just also the overall kind of operating structure of companies like this one. You know always is cost go up a EE kind of wonder. When we're headed towards a single Payer type arrangement because. Costs are going up. Among both administrations of Republicans and office in the Costco did Democrats in office the cost for health insurance continue to rise so. I just don't know where how this ends in a ruptured ends well you know I that you end up probably with a two tier system. Where your you know your top 5% of the population. By its private insurance and your bottom 95% of the population is covered by some kind of a single Payer I I I don't know. Because he's just solely. The U look at all the profits and CBS's all the profits at this very. It is just there's too much cost in in the system and and and it paid that that the more I look at what's going on around the globe. You'd you'd get inferior health care. But at least it's affordable. And that's the big challenge now yeah we have good health care and you know the utmost to view that a Mass. General in all it's great to places to get treated. But is it affordable and is is it sustainable the other thing. Right exactly and you know our demographics in this country in our working Kansas as well as in itself. You know those bloated cost lives in a week down on the system overall moving forward in addition. So I was reading a boat. The security guards and it MGM Springfield. And the error picking a vote voting in favor of having that you knew what you think about this. Interesting isn't it I mean you would think that the the management would be able to me now. Placate them a little bit better I mean it seems like their demands in their reasons for wanting to organize. Seemed. It does seem. Seemed ripe for compromise I guess I would say you now and they're just asking for a little bit of an increase in and they're saying it promised increases haven't been delivered upon and that's why thinking about making him. Well they are and you know leave both these guys are veterans. The a lot of them are retired cops a lot of retired firefighters. And military veterans. And you know they're they're told when they're hired oh yeah I use the quickest for ninety days or bump up to eighteen bucks now word yet CPR training unity extra dollar department hasn't happened. And Michael Mathis who's the guy run in the show out there. As promised the law oh you know I'll pay attention but. The union is saying hey you don't have to count on me and it's a little talk more vote the union when we return we'll also give you full market update. Next on the financial exchange. Mike we're talking about two stocks both of which are trading in negative territory Tuesday. Bristol-Myers Squibb my gosh they're down 5% or two dollars and seventy cents. They are they yet they were in the process of testing their lung cancer treatment Tuesday combined trip about stealing your boy news. In the late stage clinical trials and they found that really did not. Improved survival rates and so would be the test failed and you know a lot of money get sucked into these. So the stock is down about 5% you know traditionally very difficult to value of these companies as some extension belt can be pretty unpredictable outsourcing that. Knew it sure is in me you know you never know when the next blockbusters coming along. A stock that is surprising me with its negative trend right now he's United Technologies they're down seven dollars and 37 cents. On news that they're going to be breaking up the company that's usually very positive first. It is indeed I think long term investors elect to be positive on this news but the plan is to spin the company and three separate companies Otis is there elevator division carrier. And and their division that their division actually acquisition of Rockwell called into focus specifically on the aerospace division. The stock is down this morning because he's been off sir. Christy let's get back to the story about the security guards and MGM Springfield. Here's what I think it comes down to you've got this union coming in saying hey we want to unionize the 200 security guards at work. Act. MGM Springfield. But there's a cost that your worker it's gonna cost you what about four hours a month your work half a shift every month just pay your union dues is that true I didn't know that. Am a union dues are not free and what you're paying for is. You know union representation they don't you don't get any benefits that four hours a month that your that you're donating to the union cause yet the whole. Bit they're going to be able to get you an extra fifty cents or nine extra dollar per hour. That that's what's always. Kind of turned me off about unions is the cost. To become a member then. Well and you know you eat. I guess that I guess we have to kind of wait and see whether or not just the threat of the union will bring MGM Springfield to the table I mean it seems like the requests are not that outrageous in terms of pinot. Just being able to get their raises that have been promised them. You know they I think the the challenges in a good economy like this. You know pay the workers are gonna have some leopard they're going to be paid. In a bad economy if your rate in the union. New years the first ones to go because your sale you know we're paying security guards twenty bucks an hour call it. And now the economy's gone south that we can replace you for twelve bucks an. News in theory the union protects you but it. Fact of the matter is. The company needs to get ready you and jettison expenses were just a General Motors right a lot of those workers are you UAW members and the east of that pixel. Have you been to the MGM out there it's. Not yet I have been invited. You know we've typically had Mike Mathis we have Michael on the show them. You know just Tucker you if you've been invited Tucker mean maybe your tighter with Michael I have not. But we do have cars or read his drive there. It but I don't know dictation. But that's not a I. That's minority turnout and a carpet yeah at. Speaking of the red carpet we are rolling out the red carpet on December 10 I'd like to invite you. To the Tuscan action in Burlington Massachusetts I will buy you lunch that. And it's going to be good event we do these about once a quarter. And trucks ought to will be there will be here. In the three things that we're in new address is the tremendous market volatility. We're seeing I know many of your disappointed with your portfolios in down you know in some cases and when he maybe more maybe more than 10%. Or talk about market volatility. And tell you what we'd do as a company. To try to take advantage of and I think that information might help you and there are some criteria. That I use it's it sounds crazy. But I use something. It's the the ten year treasury yield and then I look at the dividend yield on the S&P 500 it's a little complicated but I can't explain it to you in person. As a relates to the different sectors what sector of the market. Might be more attractively priced at which sector of the market has calmed down more than other sectors of the market. It's an important event in Germany right see it it's if it's if Germany did to learn about. The phone number is tall for its 803934. Zeros or 1800. 3934001. You're just talking to Michael about United Technologies Christine let's talk about with the divisions that they're getting rid. Well it looks like they're splitting into you notice escalators. Splitting that elevator. Division out and as well as the I guess Pratt and Whitney jet engine group. They're really going to be focusing on becoming an aerospace company kind of their core business. You know so they're getting rid of carrier which is that never the in Indiana there's that controversy. Before the election about that a carrier offshoring those jobs to Mexico. Their bring those jobs back that was that's one of the companies that in the United Technologies decided to sell. And Otis elevator there they're selling that in the end they're gonna keep date they got through that merger with Rockwell Collins now. The the the thought process. Behind this and if you look historically. The companies that you spin off and in this case that would be carrier and Otis. They tend to do very well after the spun off because now they have a dedicated CEO. And they are focused entirely on growing. The air conditioning business where the elevator business so that curious. And then they'll do well now from United Technologies standpoint. They used to use those companies to cut a smooth out their earnings unity you know maybe the aerospace. This this was in the toilet. But they got bailed out by the air conditioning business or maybe the air conditioning business was in the toilet because housing itself that is okay because they got bailed out by the elevator business. That's sort of things you give up. You know you don't have that the first of the diversified conglomerate. Date in that he had when he had all three of those companies owned by the same entity. I I like the move I I think it's the right thing to do as a stockholder but I don't own shares of the stock. And the stock is down. Stocks down 6%. And it's all based on this news. Or seven dollars and 65 cents. 120 dollar covering the story because you know there are large employer knowingly Christie they they have thousands of police struggling right. We gotta wonder too. You know in terms of where they see they growth opportunities in me in the seems to be signals while they see their growth opportunities in aerospace. And so that's kind of an interesting player right there in terms Fino what are they seeing in the market. That. You know I mean we've seen how you know real estate to it's mainly housing Boehner real estate is kinda calming down. You know that would affect something like you know that is elevators. Insurer and you know with Terrence and everything that's gonna impact the price of consumer goods which could impact you know company that does air conditioning systems they care. So you know where's the growth you know it's just in the they're basically saying ms. Bergen as you know take a ban on the air space. We haven't talked about GE in a few days and they are another conglomerate. Their bonds rebounding a little bit as some bargain hunters have swept in and you know looking at their stock it's down a penny today at seven dollars and 56 cent to putt at 756 per share. But their bonds starting to come back in value that's a good sign he would you know the bondholders are usually the most critical. Set of investors because there'll black and white their numbers driven. In and they're bond values are coming back order that's good news for the stock eventually. Although. Bloomberg is reporting that. You know GE shares leased yesterday had been impacted and doesn't look like they are covering today. Just because. They're wondering about GE's finance arm. Yeah distress in the offshore offshore oil and gas sector is on. Impact seeing on the energy industry and and so that could impact she's finance. You know we think about fifty dollar oil ranked a lot of their consumers are in that energy sector. And if that oil goes. Stabilizes at this year goes lower that it impacts there's this company's ability to buy. Product from General Electric and also makes alternative energy much less appealing right if you get if you buy idea barrel oil for forty bucks. All of sudden wind turbines and solar panels become less attractive as an energy source. The other you know you brought up the unknown as it relates to G finance that's always been the black hole. Of General Electric pick but also their unfunded pension liabilities. And I mean that's that's massive. Lot of money analysts is actually citing an acquisition that they made into when he fourteen may acquired this group called the milestone in aviation group and they paid just under two billion dollars for it. On and they assumes no right down since none of goodwill which means that that business accounts for almost 75%. And she capitals reported goodwill. And our rate down of those assets because of the distress in the off trial oil and gas sector. Really impacts that GE capital unit and so that's a cause for concern. Yes I would pick it is not good news. They up next we're going to be joined by Robert hole over from seeking alpha and Roberts gonna share of stock with us. You might wanna do yourself a favor and grab a pencil and paper because this stock is up today. On a day with the Dow is down a 120. Robert Colbert is we have seeking alpha he brings to us it thinks stopped to chat about this morning it's called stone castle financial corporation paying in their giving the simple forward as we proceed. Good morning Robert well. The show wearing very. It totally nuts on a lot of community banks are the years they offered that corrections act that the local communities. They're dependable. That he sort of been. Without all headline of the big money and I. They usually do first lien loan local businesses they ought apps on the major market share in the community. The community bank should do well the rising rate environment. In addition congress passed legislation that made you which lowers regulatory or a small back. However there at the Bob. Community bank yield averaged only around 3% the most. Start a dividend yield for Robert you are right talk about the dividend yield is two to three that. Absolutely there you know there are at the U -- they're dependable but below. You know our service that it dividend dark plot. We have a solution for subscribers and that don't test well financial core banks. And banks as this unique business model they're closed end investment company. They're actually lend money the US community bank of curtain on the equity investment in that. They give investors. Here are healed exposure to community bank is these guys at no credit default. There are 2013. I you know banks you know over 7%. That are you'll problem. Okay let me ask you question though he said it's closed end soon five buy it for twenty dollars and 87 cents today. And I decide thirty days from now I want to sell what am I gonna get pork is that don't what I think of clothes and I think of closed end funds. Like Taj take a pretty good haircut would come sun sells things. Well actually our market didn't start to burger erupt over 9% 2008. The bank had actually done quite well. What what was there is that spot market. That's an understatement business exhibit that. It does do that a rising interest rate to elect is a rising interest rates help the spank it and help the stock. Well it helps that it helps the people they lend money to buy music community banks the bank of bigger spread. In that the that the they're they're also getting the news because they're expensive they're going that. So they're not I actually operating there they're not operating branches that right there they're making loans to. You're you're smaller banks is at a site how I understand the rest. Exactly right bank the the financial company. And then they go out now make the bird. Investment are on the act with common equity investment. Or. Maybe debt investment. It. In local community that there. Know everybody's attracted Robert everybody loves that idea the 7% dividend how sustainable. Rectified by this thing. They sort of be paying this dividend is a dividend. Is now it's it's it's it's a dollar 52. Again BO the pay that to me in two years in three years it and how how long have they been paying that. Well there there there are pretty good Eric records of any. The year's Vienna. There's. He's here. They've been there actually raised. In 2000. Seventeen move that over here. Oca. But they've been they've been paying anywhere but they start at 33. Into it. All. And then it's gone up in the thirtieth but not you know not a huge dividend growth. But they do. Now that that's the key thing is you know. Do they have a coverage ratio that allows them to continue to pay that dividend the year. That was bent at the music they're out the line here. That wouldn't. Right. Well what I like is that not operating branches I think the branch businesses largely dead. And to be getting away from that makes sense there in the lending business is risks associated with that means the economy goes south. Unity could this of those loans could go back on them. There's a hidden value to it and bank. In it's. Chief officers CEO as the primary. Expert on the community bank. Specter in the U and all that give lectures suit regulatory eight. Robber we gotta get out that music means that were coming to the end of the first hour of the planet to exchange the symbol for that stock is the eighth. In X. When we started trading this morning the markets opened up the naked terror leaders. Pretty bad was down almost a couple hundred points a game. However we've had a little bit of a recovery the last ninety minutes in the Dallas only down six points now the S&P is actually up four points and the NASDAQ. Is up. In nineteen. Hi everybody it's very and Christine Dunn with you here it's a Tuesday morning and we begin today's power. With a conversation about oil which Christine I have trading at about 5226. Per barrel today. Yes and you know the market in general has. In. Really suffering from oversupply. And concerned about the growing trade dispute lows which. You know the markets have been reflecting as well in general with the ups and downs have been going on as we await to see how the long and a long held meetings on between China and the US will take place against later this week. You know just the big question is you know the United States is really ramp up their production of oil in the past. Caught ten years it all started really you know what people are are crediting president trump with the increase production. And he deserves some of that credit but it really respected Dick Cheney and George Bush that's when the beef that. The the whole idea of becoming energy independence began. End. Now we are producing yet the question is though how much do we have to get per barrel. In order to be profitable getting out of the ground it seems like it ranges depending on the region of the country. That your all of that oil out meaning in Texas she backfield get out of the ground for forty bucks a barrel. But in North Dakota because of positions are tougher could be as high as fifty. Right. And one. Shale Schiller was saying that fifty dollars is really that magic kind of and number. He was saying that you know fifty dollars they generate enough cash is still grow their production single digits. But Acer glam below that and that becomes a problem. You know if you've ever repay. Her per gallon for the last thanking gas hypocrisy. I'm trying to remembering now I think it was just. Over three dollars a gallon if I'm remembering correctly. We've putted on the highway. Yeah I was I was traveling so they always get you there attitude semi seven yeah. They should be coming down I mean if if if this price of fifty dollars a barrel holds we should be paying about 249. Upper for gas when you if you if you do and the problem is that prices are all these sticky on the weekend. You have a sniff of the price increase in man the guys at the pump recent price immediately. You'd on the way down they'll say you know at the tele two's while we have to sell our whole supply. We we we just bought this gas we pay to recognize who lived salty too. Seems like they're awfully slowed. To bring the prices but that's just it. Let's talk about an email received I don't know if you got a copy of this or not Kristy curry to use a Frontline. Any road to be yesterday. Very I heard you talking about robo calls this is during yesterday's show and I think you'll enjoy this story a few months ago I went on to. They do not call site and filled out a complaint form. Against Rachel from Kurt services robo calls I've been receiving. Usually about two to three calls a day for several weeks now that is not an uncommon story I get a whole lot of these calls I was giving them for security services. You know they come out and install security system. Last month. My friend received a check for 42 dollars and 35 cents per class action settlement against Rachel from cart services. The check was real and I have cashed it with my new found wealth by have been motivated to file more complaints. Against other numerous robo calls that I continue to receive. So I guess the trick here Christine is good to do not call registry and you can file a complaint I didn't even know to Judah. You know I did and land mine I was curious keep yourself on as well because I feel like the number of robo calls and interestingly a number of Chinese speaking Robocop. Just yeah just ask it like upstate New York somewhere and they keep calling yes sir I just don't answer to mount. I've attempted solution that has been a bottleneck at a give me your phones always ring. You know what I decide barter them and a storm yeah it is annoying you weigh votes terror. Is terribly and an 88 Q we still have a land line has why full let me disconnect. In what I'll end up doing is I'll be home on Saturday. A full ring off the hook so finally I end up usually just pulling for. All. That it's just it's earned aggravate so do you sells a favor books if you're getting these calls. Right down where you get in front end. File a complaint. That do not call registry I can't tell you check for 42 bucks my friend. But who knows you might view and and if nothing else Tucker you might stop the the calls or at least will the calls down there are a couple maybe I should start picking up the phone sort of go to this website do this yeah. Says. Don't have a caller ITT caller ID is I don't do I've noticed now that some of the caller IDs identified in the span had he gotten. I hadn't seen it identifies span yeah that's interest yeah and yeah I've started to get spam messages on my collar right time yet to stand question mark and usually it's like some kind of like random local number on your cellphone a lamb on my limb land mine yeah interest now. So Christine did you read this story about the C pap machine it's kinda creepy is that. It is so creepy how companies now are spying on us in so many different ways and I was horrified. To learn that this poured gentlemen in this story had been spied on by his insurance company received past that just hit ball. Yet the way it works. Uses the the C pap machine that you get from your insurance company right unity yet. If you're gonna Wear seat Pappas for people who you know abnormal breathing at night and can tell if you if you're stopped breathing and if the the other probably creates is it stops you from sleep to get a good night's sleep if you're waking up. You know hundred times a night. Well the C pap machine stops that from occurring. What the insurance companies have done is said well we don't wanna pay for this machine because it's expensive. And lesser gonna actually uses so they have a device that's connected to the Internet. And it tells the insurance company whether you're using the machine and whether you're using it correctly pot. If you're not using it correctly what you're using it correctly to send you an a or reward this congratulations for using your machine. But if you're not using it could correctly they'll stop paying for it. It's. It just feels like such a violation and particularly where in this case in the story. The out patient was saying he had no idea about that and you just have to start wondering you know we have all these rules supposedly around. You know patient privacy and on that well you know at what point in the chain. You know do insurance companies have an obligation to explicitly and make it very clear that they're collecting information like as he clearly did not understand that which is just feels wrong. Yeah now. It is does he got to wonder too about your prescription drugs to Israel you're an every get a prescription your doctor tells you finished the prescription needed if you're feeling better. Finish the prescription. Of most people go right you start feel better what he duties the his trophy for it just forget to take the pills. Yeah other U you have to wonder too how your information when you go pick up that prescription is being used as well I actually had a situation where. I had an unfortunate. This carriage and yet nine months after I supposedly conceived in the only one who allegedly knew. That. That I had a miscarriage doll was my doctor. On I was getting emails from similar lack in everything congratulating me on the birth of my baby that never happens. And we figured out that the only other group that knew it was good old CVS with mine. Prenatal appointments yup and they sold that information for tidy sum the horrid did I went and tracked down the marketing manager for that. You know yes sir Anthony and I told her hey you know what you better be careful how you using this information wow. It. So Tucker get ready you're going to be inundated. Oh well you flooded with emails and everything like oh I think ever seen insomnia. You you have seen anything yet. I. That little testers and it drop it to the world this December I would greatly for the date accurate called his own music actually. Unity list boy that's in and with the official date for doctor Chris for C. Christmas maybe yet it's meant to December 20 burial put on the board but but in July with a whole way Coca. And our way today at 6727. To. Put all that down on how long how long bearing. I could. Do the height. I can do the wheat induced sex. He did pretty. Strong and how tolerable life talker. She's a five foot six. But its next time and ink oh. December irked when he sat December 27. Mania. I'm gonna go with seven pounds or around 74. Minutes. Made seventeen inch. Gender about sex and life as they don't like it now. You like the old a couple of note that despite the gender. Now I've seen plenty of those but. On just like the surprise yet chuck by the ways and team girl in ounces yeah. Yes give me a date. You know you don't you know chuck what do you call that day week after the. That's I don't usually does right at a quote I got that right yeah he has like four different gases which ends on its future. He's still got that went raw right. Maybe half a dozen guesses on Amazon HQ two in that game right. I got. Or put that out when he's not here is that this year he's pointing idle mine eyes that's. Coming up will have trivia for you end will be talking about fast food companies which had fast food companies like we all would meet to. You know I was gonna ask you Christine if you shopped on Amazon.com. That it would be an oddity for anybody to not shop at Amazon.com. I think he is like everybody's gotten out there absolutely I mean I have to say on it's become. It's become an indispensable part of my routine I mean. Just the other week my son Matthew had had a band concert. And realized you know a day and a half before the concert that he had outgrown his black pants so he. Click click click and the panting and Harry in time for the band concerts yes indispensable. It's funny how little boys grow rapidly is this the Arabic. Yeah well we're talking big seeded three inches over the past few months very unexpected. If. Let's talk about mistakes that people often make and I'm I looked at this list and I said you know I die I'd make some of these mistakes. First of all Lotta people opt for the free two day shipping. What's wrong with opting for free two day shipping pay for what a year and a title like get my stuff fast. I was actually surprised to learn this as well you know I didn't know that Amazon automatically adds her words to your Amazon account. And and then apply them automatically to qualifying orders if you don't choose the no Russian banks like as the two day shipping their free prime shipping them ways is a rush shipping technically. But if you opt for the free shipping and give yourself a little bit more time. You know you can you can get these are war it's just great I'm gonna look into that pressure. Do you IG of the Amazon prime credit card I do not I do not I figured I have enough credit cards and donated Netherlands in 190 how it works though. I believe you get you get points rate her words towards forgiveness 5%. Right so. If in what you can do is use those points towards the future purchases so. What you might do is lunacy averaging a thousand dollars a month that's fifty dollars of free stuff. You can get from Amazon if you put your credit cards. What about timing your purchase heady time your purchase practically. Well I guess. I guess that Amazon has a service actually that lets you watch certain deals so that not only you can. Do you the price watch is in time your purchase that way for the price drops but. You know I mean analysts are saying just in general people need to still shop around more in the thing about having primus and your tendencies just to go straight to Amazon. The shop around and say. You know. Bet that's the best advice that you can get the other thing that my wife does and it's quite effective issue voted and shopping cart not just with Amazon with me Cesar wherever she's doing online shopping. And they'll know that she wants to buy that table cloth or whatever the images. And they'll give for a discount on cheers and bought and weaker to. No cub factor and say hey you know you look at that table cloth and they just went on sale for 20% off then shall. It you know he's. Bargain hunting would that she does it. Christina I didn't fully understand this next headline in had to do with Amazon becoming an advertising. Giant. At a pick of Amazon is being in the advertising business. But it was the way it's say it works where it can. Market multiple products and also you know sellers of products can actually purchase spots. On Amazon itself it is now the third largest online advertising. Company after Google and FaceBook. So that's pretty significant and I was really. Shocked to learn. That's you know I mean this year the ad revenue is gonna double to about five point eight billion but over the next five years we're looking at a five times additional increase. 220 point four billion and that's more her. Then all. Television networks worldwide. I mean not that that combined increase net revenue is more than all television networks worldwide that. That's just here it is cut in interest musically let's say you're gonna buy a I don't know kitchen cutting sports for a and you you put in there are you know wouldn't kitchen cutting boards. Daniel C when they pop up with this is sponsored right or if this is Amazon's choice. That that people are paying for that position. And you have traditionally in retail that happened to me when you walk into their groceries to share. You know companies are paying literally for the position on the shelves right how close to that check out counter or people tend to kind of doesn't pick up items as they're going through. You know there's there's a whole science it's evolved around us in terms of you know how consumers purchase goods when they walk into historian Amazon has clearly refinements. You know with the way kind of tracks how people shop on site. In fact what was really interesting was I mean it's fine tune it so much that 92%. Of people who. Start their search for product in Amazon ended up buying that product on Amazon 92%. So what does that tell you Christine I that tells me people workshop. Because they don't have the best price so I like I find a Aral but you notified if I'm looking to buy something on him as a especially if it's more than fifty bucks right. All look at Amazon and then I'll look at jet dot com because a lot times yet the same item or same manufacturer. And a lot of times I find that get back on to be less expensive than it was. Yup that you know a lot of people who are going on line you know their prime shopping for a really specific item also Amazon stunner really good job. You know getting people to buy kind of those everyday items were they don't have to think about it they just wanna go back and pick it up rate. We think about the food I ate hands in the daily household goods where. You have a lot of time to shop around for those things you just want Iran to your nearest store son's case Amazon and and pick not. Yeah I am NDP say that dollar rate save by and sponges for the Kitchener them like that prank. You know so what you save a dollar you eat it with Amazon it's so fast the other sites are not as user friendly in my opinion. In terms of like you've got all your addresses loaded into the Amazon says you're shipments up to your moment to matter here shipments of two you know your second hole. It's it's all in me the other sites or I I find them to be not as user friendly as Amazon.com that's just my opinion. I'm just another industry that Amazon's going to be shaking up I mean we're going to be seeing changes in the way the advertising agency. The agency world works now because of this. In keeping my misses this is going to be very important to Amazon's bottom line because. Right now it's cloud business currently provides the bulk of its profits and we think of Amazon after retailing in the cloud businesses so he's been a big part of it. But as soon as 20/20 once it just a couple of years down the road he had business might be bigger. Yeah. It's that's exactly right. Eight coming up or be talking about rural means let's I don't know what you Christine but I haven't had a good Caesar salad and quite awhile. Topic related to tree and I will read the quote. The only deal would be China has to open up their country to competition from the United States mr. Trump's head. As far as other countries are concerned that's up to them. Ends again. You know that the president has done many things first bottle in his two years in office. Less than two years in office. But what I will criticize him for is not going after intellectual property that issue in my opinion Christine. He isn't he he should be focused. Like a laser on the fact that the Chinese. Lie cheat steal as a relates to American intellectual property they have a Chinese soldiers. Military an inch from China. That are attending American universities and not telling the university's it there in the Chinese military and they're always there to steal our intellectual property. Why does the president not focused more on intellectual property that and instead continues to talk about tariffs. I decree few there I mean you know you don't wanna amenities to say cut up your nose to spite your face I. Am you know why why punish across the board. I agree with you at the issue of protecting IP is Paramount and something that obviously. You know US companies not just US companies or mean worldwide everybody cares about. But you know these terrorists are hurting more than just that I mean consumers' are gonna start feeling the pension you know several retailers came out Wal-Mart wrote a letter. Published a lever pat published the letter publicly. You know earlier this file saying look these terrorists are going to hurt every. And you know consumers' are gonna start feeling it in their wallets next year. Well they are and and now the president saying well you know I'm gonna put another 10% tax on all the items that I missed. Al part of this could be posturing. Before it goes into the G-20 meetings and to be lead begin on Friday. Thursday or Friday G-20 to the thirtieth since then you know so that's Friday and look I. I don't rush your sitting in on those meetings and I'm not. It is it's hard to anticipate. It would his tactic is part of this could be Austria in a part of this could be because I've got to believe. After the mid term elections he wants to make a deal he once this economy. To continue. Along. And if you put you know you talk about 500 billion dollars of taxes. On American consumers disaster tariffs are a remind everybody. Tariffs are nothing other than attacks on American consumers that's not gonna bode well for his popular. But you've seen the impact in the markets as well I mean you know apple hasn't been doing very well and and that's because people are starting to. I just how they feel the iPhone on both sales and also their ability to produce them without having to pass on the costs of these tariffs. You know on to consumers so I mean we're definitely seeing an impact already. You know I think investors are missing the mark on it and I'm not trying to tell you the should be buying or selling your shares of apple. You know they may. Virtually all of the profits in the Smartphone business the eighth at ticket the last time I checked. Day in and Turkey could ask it this Turks are. I think they make a 102%. Of all the profits in the sports field is so if apple gets negatively impacted by terrorists. One has to believe it the other companies whether it's axle which is a Google product or Samsung which is Korean product. Believe that those those companies are going to be adversely affected as well. So. Eight what did you think of this Netflix for conservatives it's a fox streaming. For five bucks a month never heard this before well what's interesting about. This is that fox is really trying to get ahead of you know this trend where younger viewers are you know moving to streaming and there are not subscribing to cable so going back to early conversation about what's impacting. Other channels. And you know fox is interesting because. You know they they have a very dedicated audience they don't even call them viewers fox calls their audience fans and so they're trying to make sure that fan base continues into that millennial generation. But their old need the fox viewer the average age of the fox viewers 65. You know the and that if you're an advertising you don't want sixty next route 25. 37%. Of the people who signed up for this for this out came from mobile device so there they're trying to go after the younger market.
