This is the financial exchange with the very Armstrong and chunks are now. You're exclusive look at business and financial news affecting your day your city your world. Stay informed and up today about economic and market trends plus get breaking business news every day. And now the financial exchange with the Barry Armstrong and chuck Exxon. Happy post Federal Reserve day everyone markets are down because the Fed is going to keep raising rates chuck and Mike here today Barry is off today. And now we've got a market that has all major indices in negative territory today. The there's a couple key events and I think you know are relevant not necessarily moving everything here but at least relevant to discuss. And so we're gonna start with a little bit of a recap. On what we learned from the Federal Reserve yesterday. When they released their rate decision at 2 PM. Mike first thing that stands out that they didn't. Raise rates yesterday yet they almost never missed. And they did also guide that the pretty much contract keep doing exactly what they were doing before which means rate hike in December continues to look pretty likely. Yeah I don't know about you the the only language that I saw you know any indication of any sort of concern about raising rates for. Slowdown would be there mention of the slowdown in business investment which we had talked about on the show weeks ago. I do it's clearly it clearly didn't change their policies because in the language they're using around the slow instead the rising rates hasn't changed. And to put in perspective what this is done over the last 24 hours. The expectation for a hike in December. Is now at 79 point 2% up from 71 point 1% so. Moving closer to an a certainty as we're now about 80% certain that we are going to seek a hike. In December. Beyond that the other still some questions you that would take us up to just under two and a half percent. As far as where rates are then. The big question then is why how many how to read you know kind of guided towards next year. Did the most likely target and this is what the the Chicago Mercantile Exchange their futures markets tell us. To Ike's next year's the most likely target about a 34 and a half percent chance there. And then about a 2.5 percent chance of either one hike or three hikes but to likes is is well markets are telling us. Is the most likely choice at the moment is going. It three through the end of next year effective exactly so this I think also is relevant in that this morning at 830. We got data out on inflation specifically what's called Producer Price Index which the Producer Price Index is a fancy way of saying. Pay if you're making stuff how much did all of your input costs go up in the last month so for example if your making tables. Did the cost of your would go up to the cost you're glue go -- if you're making airplanes to the cost of your metal go up to the cost of your carbon fiber go up. In what we saw for this month. Was that the PPI number. Came in a lot hotter than anticipated thanks a lot percent higher yet this is this is a big when he came in at point 6% when you strip out energy and fuel. Which tend to be your energy and food which tend to be a little bit volatile as we see a gas prices move. Still up point 5%. And so it suggests that you have inflationary pressures that are building here. In specifically would texting about this this is the first reading that we have PPI. Host China to care. It's it is and gates also by the way the biggest increase that we have seen the last six years. So you keep these things in context here yet as your point 6% who cares now as the biggest reader we've seen in six years it's an important number. It's one data point the last month we came in at point 2% so it's one data point it doesn't tell us that inflation is here. If you see the next two months of November and December they don't have to print this time if they just print in the point 4% range mean that were you know coast 5% inflation year over year. Watch out because once inflation Kenny gets out of the bottle it's really difficult to get it back yet so we see a couple of these come in hot. Especially you know kind of heading into the into the year. Again that the Specter that IE that that keeps me up at night what actually keeps me up at night aside from clowns just because they're terrifying. What actually keeps me Jessica arranged to have it is the that the Specter of stagflation. But as for those you lifted the 1970s I didn't but those of you who lifted the 1970s remember that. And this economy shows at this point some concerns going forward. That that's where we may end up Europe slowing housing market is slowing autos market the two biggest sectors in terms of consumer purchases in the economy. You got both of them slowing. At the same time that you have inflation creeping up like this. It's something that makes me nervous so watch these numbers over the next couple months. Ten year treasury yields still up over 3.2 percent so. You know you're now seeing CD rating get a two year CD and seeing him in the two point nine almost 3% range in a lot of cases. Mortgage rates where we with a thirty year fixed rate mortgage at these levels so I saw the average is up to five point 15%. From five point 11 book prior. There's the teaser rates that you see the average on those I think is still below five the most people can't qualify them just is right you know they don't have credit scores above I think 760. Is usually worry end up getting the best rates. This does lead us to our whole question of the day up right now on financial exchange showed dot com. Do you want higher interest rates yes or no. You can also add some context this if you want you can text us at 63566. And let us know your thoughts and rising interest rates may be one higher ones because you wanna buy CDs. Maybe you don't want higher ones because you wanna buy a house so. Again vote at financial exchange showed dot com. And also feel free to Texas at 63. 566. Is here if you're a stock market investor where do you think you should fall on whether or not you want higher interest rates no. Well it depends what your time frame news. If you timeframe as the next year no you don't want higher interest rates. If you're looking for the next ten to fifteen years doesn't really matter. Let's talk a little bit about Disney because apparently. Disney had a record annual profit are rumors of their demise greatly exaggerated. I mean they just made this big fox acquisition. It. This marvelous position is clearly paying off say you had black panther last this year and huge success I'm glad you are. They paid it four billion dollars from marvel back in 2009. I would imagine that's going to be returning. In just dividends these days in terms of the production that different now. Yet the that the series that does that films that marvel studios has now released okay. They have grossed over seventeen billion dollars at the global box office now credit granted it probably cost them you know it does significant chunk of change I imagine all those movies combined probably cost somewhere between you know six and nine billion dollars in. What it's too has worked out darn well for Disney in having them marvelous. So now they're working through this 71 point three billion dollar acquisition of fox they're going to be. Rolling out where they seem to be really focusing on there on their conference calls quarterly earnings calls. Is there direct consumer streaming service that is looking like it's gonna be rolled out at the end of next year. I still have big questions I mean weird questions. Will people pay for. Good is that that's the only question that matter through Google's paid for this. I just don't know what's the price can be we don't know yeah we don't know the price presumably less than Netflix has to be cheaper than Netflix is there what's the what's the base. Austin Netflix knows tenors and eleven I think it's 1199. 1099 a Lebanon and for the basic. Yeah that would what what's the basic cost and I'm gonna say ten I mean I gotta go over to Netflix now okay can put its enemy winzip it's 1099 cents eleven dollars and then like for more. Device. I'll blocks I guess it's like fifteen bucks it's fourteen gap in a lot of I've got the more devices because I subsidize my parents because there it is darn boomer new teachers that moved off their kids like pain and backed a call I am paying them back for college so I via Netflix pay them back about a 150 bucks a year and will be all square and about a hundred years. The zone HBO cost fifteen dollars a month Amazon crime which is kind of different you know it's not the same thing about chemistry and streams are assessed ten bucks down the Netflix is eleven. I can't imagine how Disney fox who come out and prices higher than those and expect to get in its customers on Disney I'm pricing whatever the streaming services at. 799. 99 if someone that arranged so here's a question any competitive with Netflix or use. Questions of 799 let's talk about that price rate job. If I'll pay 7991 I just go on who is who's 799 and I get Disney CBS and ABC and got an RBC's. I don't know if you're gonna continue to get Disney content and on I highly doubt you would at least not detect wanted to talk now pushing to arm up pushing out original series the full Star Wars franchise as are all of the marvel movies. I would imagine that you're not going to be getting content on any other platform going forward that. Maybe you're getting why Disney on Hulu yeah. But you're probably not getting all of the areas the contents the fox content they're putting out here think every Simpson's episode Evers going to be on here. That's huge if really it is a there's a lot of content that talks as the Disney can offer attic and seems to fit into their bowl I'll tell you what is on my a a parent with young young kids. I'm deathly buying this Disney thing is literally it's going to be every single Disney movie is going to be available street yeah I'm I'm shocked the kids out there. I'm panel looking into that sort of thing yeah I if I and currently on Netflix and I just had my first. Three kids in the last three years chair. And their plane Emery in front of futile to a lot of people are canceling that Netflix subscription I'm going to this death I'll look into it. So here's here's a question. As we talk there's all these services out there and everyone's trying to start when Disney's trying to start one up is the party has you know ESPN plus which it started. Which has been good so the average price that you're seeing on a lot of these it's anywhere from five to ten dollars each year. Subscriptions to people would boom people realistically pay for work as a whole Monica Garcia is the problem in this. This is that everyone got all up in arms about I don't want this cable bundle all the tales and ever watch him paying too much were heading back to that. A overcome go to the complete out here the problem on bundling it first becomes cheaper because there's a right in place I can get Netflix ten bucks Greek. We're essentially re bundle will note first you're gonna get everyone trying to charge five dollars it all these companies gonna realize gee we can't get everyone to sign up for five dollars is there's always so much money go round household budgets. Great it's you know you got a hundred bucks per you know cable and entertainment okay that's what it is there's only so much time to go around. Verizon's gonna come out like sixteen months from now and now with this new bundle streaming service called. Gable are happy that people don't realize that the bundle helps consumers far more than it hurts them. Yes Comcast charged you ridiculous policies related to the bundle. It it is nothing to do with the bundled people that are cabled you know and these animals and everything like that there don't look at them Buick you know I don't want to wicker basket channel or something stupid like you know what you get the wicker basket channel for free pretty much it costs like a but I don't want it that's what he does. But like why am I paying for that's what people are so I know but people Hallmark Channel but people are paying for that that's the thing they have to realize. Oxygen if you looked at what people were actually paying for in terms of the rights fees. It is ESP and regional sports networks in news networks other than that no one has any kind of substantial write feel like you go through what's let's take a quick break. But when we come back we're gonna go through what the rights fees are for different channels because you're not paying for the crap you don't watch actually. It's one of the biggest misconceptions quick break right back with that. Breaking financial news. The financial exchange with Barry Armstrong and chuck sub on the financial exchange radio network as you age it's not uncommon to entertain thoughts about how your passing will affect your family legacy claiming is not easy. No. Hi everybody it's Barry Armstrong and I'm joined today by executive vice president from leader bank mr. Jake tool and were talking about this account today. It's called the Zuma rewards account and the thing that really caught my eye on this account is. It's a savings account but sort of a god you guys are providing two point 05%. EPY. On that account how do you do. Yet it's one of our most. Popular. Retail banking products buried so. It's it checking and savings companion Oka and if you qualify. You get some great reward so for example you get 2.0 5%. EP wise your savings account up 200000 dollars 100000. You get 1% cash back and all of your visa spending your debit card that's good and get ATM reimbursements if you use another thing seat him. And so do qualify I'm traveling in a Matta town there's not a leader bank branch nearby. I can use that ATM card number and be reimbursed the three dollars order exactly. That in so the benefit of that is that really expands average network yeah he's in need yen. It doesn't have to be leader main core. If you qualify it's pretty simple unions to have your direct deposit go to the bank at least 12100 a month for you need to use. You use you count at least ten transactions a month and center for east Dayton itself. It's it's something that customers would do any ways of using right now rightly gets great benefits. And yet two point 05% annual percentage yield on your savings. Try finding that in another bank leader bank offers it it's called Zuma rewards account paying two point 05% annual percentage yield on. A bounces up to a 100000 dollars. To learn more call leader bank at 8776917900. Or visit them on line. Leader bank dot com. It's called zoo book rewards account ZEUGMA. 8776917900. So continuing our talk about cable costs. I found some good data that the data have some 2014 just because it takes a couple years for this stuff to come out so it it's a few years old. So if you go back to 2014 the average cost. Just for one TV not looking at you know who's adding in phone in this now but for one TV if you wanted just the cable. The average cost just for TV was 45 dollars obviously if he added in Internet and phones and multiple TVs yen up and 1284050. Dollars. The median cost per channel in that 45 dollar bundle was fourteen cents. Mean that the average cable bundle had 321. Channels him. A 160 of those channels cost less than fourteen cents a month. The ones that actually add up in and actually generate the cost ESPN back then was six dollars and four cents per subscriber and it's about nine. Sized dogs or since freest and perm as they would their street racers 599. TNT. OK because everyone needs to watch more walker Texas ranger repeats. A dollar 48 the second highest cost per cable channel easily and I'll. Fourteen NFL network dollar 22. Disney Channel dollar 21. Fox News 99 cents USA is in need more walker Texas ranger repeat this 83 cents. ESPN 274. Cents TBS 72 cents. Fox sports 168 cents. That is incredible yet all and is five times more at the close of four times when the closest competitor yes. If if you look at this you would think and you're not wrong the only things that American what Americans watched our sports. Disney movies. Fox News and walker and walker retire from her that's it offered a law and order and Rondell and and exhausting redemption yeah yeah other than that like you would if honestly like that's probably pretty much what America watches to be honest. They get it's it's not that. We're what do is is HDTV and alaskans it was and probably entry fourteen athletes are out of he has quite as popular is that Iowa or doesn't I'd love mr. Rupert. So HGTV is 23 cents per subscriber as a 26 teams apart and any other tales you wanna take a look at. ST watch. But not not them drill. My wife repaid some eight to ten times more than 23 cents a month for for HDTV and yeah it's it's it's a the fixer upper it optional day it's it's activated our pretty. What's up with the show's done through. I notes it's okay yeah that's a really big still watch the reruns. So some good news for the folks who were laid off by poppy geno is and De'Angelo with the sudden shut down. Last I was really sad it was overnight and now. Honestly lake so. I don't quite understand how management thought they were going to get away with that has. First of all there's a ton of people eight that you don't really like pop genus Indians look to begin with in beat there's a ton of people the social media backlash about this has been. Awful for the company just as there's an Hussein. A case of some you know high priced hedge fund has taken over my pop gene isn't laid ever went off without notice why am I gonna go there right. Hasn't been good there is good news for those pop gene isn't De'Angelo workers. Domino's Pizza restaurants at a 115. Locally owned locations in the New England area. A look now hire a thousand people throughout the Greater Boston area to fill roles. In particular. A man by the name of David Jenks who owns 29 Domino's franchises in mass choose to New Hampshire said quote. When I heard about it I felt just wasn't fair they had no notice a felt terrible these guys are out of a job right before the holidays. These stores are also offering one week quick Christmas bonus pay. Any part of GM's employee who works for dominance for 45. Army's signed into a public genus. Probably since childhood but I'd gone to the Angeles pretty frequently it's. Little bit I can see public geno has does that feel like they were. That fast casual like chain like you're supposed to go in and dined there and I just don't think that people wanted to pizza restaurant generally yeah these days I don't think they serve alcohol either so no bit of a downside. I can kind of see how that business model failed to. And really nothing wrong with that. You know it is it a little and their busy. The De'Angelo stores I would into always seemed busy so yeah I really earn yeah. Mumbai metres pretty dead all the time broad manner is that was shut down. I haven't checked the and at Roland now. But does some good news for those workers against tough time a year to want to be in you know and it went especially. With no notice at all immediately how did someone in in all the people who were in kind of the chain of events that you know led to making that decision. How could not one of them say gee maybe we should you know let people know that they're being fired and shutting down instead of you know just. Locking the doors on the Sunday I mean Thomas and really bad if they shut down especially Daryn you know patriots season they always have those deals in all the time from pop gene knows. Did they are we out don't know is that like football specials and promotions and everything like that. Quick break or get back real Wall Street watching talking about why you dealt stock is down 30%. Total stocks moving around today Activision Blizzard the first doctor I ever owned. Down 14% today YE. Once a series this. By have a tough time investing in companies you're if you're if you're not. Tracking the individual names the games that are coming out you know annual basis against the year in tough shape its stock down 14%. There reported earnings they beat on earnings by two cents a share but their revenue. For Corus current quarter forecast showed some weakness due to its destiny franchise has not been selling very well I'd never even heard the destiny franchise which is why can't invest in the stocks. But stock in I if you take a look at the trend lines this company over the last five years print pretty tremendous but a pretty rough and volatile this year this year there. Right around their 52 week low at this point there wasn't the call of duty subscribers down to. Like from 352 million 345 million was down her. In other news in terms of companies that have been a struggle for much of 2018. I know she came and caught a stroke so it's General Electric and I say it jokingly but I honestly I I don't know the stock has had. Either back to back days or even a three day run of positive movement yet this year aside for maybe the first couple weeks when it rally a little bit. But GE down an additional 7%. To date stand eight dollars and 48 cents a share. The last time GE stock was this low. Was during the financial crisis. And actually I don't even know we got down there during that time we have to go back to the 1990s the final last time was the slow. What's what's going on today. I JPMorgan analyst Stephen Jessica that is price target on the stock 26 dollars all the way from ten. Most recent earnings report was worse than expected on pretty much all fronts in his opinion. It's. We've talked about 30 at I don't wanna beat a dead horse here but we talked about this at length I just don't see what not you dead horse yet I mean that's the thing it's still kick him. Now well the stock is now down seven point 3% down to eight dollars 43 cents per share. 52 week high at this point was at nearly 21 dollars per share so pretty much cut into a third of its 52 week and. In the stock did actually get is Louis 573. During the financial crisis it would get a get a little ways ago. But I mean pretty much that this stock is being priced not like it's going out of business but just like they don't have. But it is her business row. So really tough tough times for them. Another company that is a season struggles today is Yelp. And Yelp if you're not familiar with them when you go and give Google a restaurant or if you Google. A hotel or maybe guys shopper suffering like that at that and use small time they're one of the companies that allows people post reviews of local businesses. And Yelp stock is off 29 point 1% today. Year to date they're pretty much where they started there but it's a bad. Bad day for them here the yeah it's re looking really really accidents are they were right where they started before today so now they're down 2%. For the year. It's not looking terribly good for Yelp right now. They had done a lot of re pricing around how there advertisers. Contract with them there's no fixed amount going for urged that it made about a changes there. That probably attracted some new clients but clearly has been impacting cash flow. The revenue wasn't all that far off from their predictions I think per the issue here. Is the CEO went on the call and really just wouldn't give any real guidance in terms of what happened the quotas. We do not leave there's a single or pre dominant factor that led to the shortfall relative to our expectations the brother combination of smaller operational factors that natively. Affected productivity. Excuse me not that hasn't it doesn't mean anything that to me means you have. Vast management issues and you can't identify what the problems are what is Yelp do. Better than anyone else. There's the question I always ask with companies like what they do better than anyone else. And the only thing that I see that they really have a competitive advantage on I don't think it's their company doing anything better it's just that. They have a larger. Bucket of reviews than any other company that I've seen in their advisor tool does this trip well it trip advisor on different things has little bit more if you go to our looking for a hotel or international okay have much more a substance that. I've found restaurants domestically Yelp is a far better resource for me that trailer that's. Interesting. Interesting. Steve Wynn suing both Wynn Resorts in the mass gaming commission. Is is gonna get ugly. Seems like it's he's city claiming that. The Wynn Resorts has provided to the mass gaming commission. Privileged documents. About the investigation into a sexual misconduct claims against them. This is just something that we really can't guess as to what's going on here we have no idea what was said during the investigation how or why it's on that information would be privileged. And it's going to be and it sounds like Serbia court case what exactly is he suing forts not stop the construction or anything like that it if I guess what I'm getting at the opening of this casino does not appear to be in jeopardy Odom you know I don't think that's the issue here. You know Steve went has divested of his stock is no longer involved in the company I think he is ripped him basically suing and saying hey. I don't want a bunch of this information that was passed to launch the masters is gaming commission which he alleged shouldn't have been passed along to become public. So it in so it sounds like this is. Almost equivalent to. If you know if if you're home was illegally searched by police without a warrant or something like that saying look even though you obtained evidence the way you did it was illegal show so you know that there's something wrong here so it sounds like that's the direction. That things are going. Seems that way folks if you save money for retirement you're ahead of the game because a significant percentage of people nearing retirement age really haven't saved anything. Having the money is one thing but knowing when and how to take it is another. So in a story that we have literally been talking about for almost a decade right now and that just does not seem to want to go away. Apparently a federal judge has now blocked the keystone XL pipeline permit from allowing construction US district judge. And Brian M Morris. A present Obama appointee has. Denied the construction asking them to redo review that was bad done back in 2014. They basically claiming that. The information that was done in 2014 is outdated at this point Albany's be re reviewed. How does things or is built. It was originally proposed by the way in September of 2008 so were actually over ten years now discussing the keystone XL project believe that. Is expected cost around eight billion dollars that thing I can and believe that TransCanada is still pushing for this thing like. It's just been such a disaster in such a public relations nightmare. At some point they did there's two ways to look at it on one level they could prop was allocate some cost it's not gonna happen let's just punt to move on to something else. On the air they might say. And we've spent all this money we might as well spend a little bit more to see if we get it across the finish ass it's ass is it just seems like this is never going to end so we have another delay here. Now at this point also energy related. You continue to see oil. Extending its declines we continue to see. Oil really struggling to find. Any type of Bob bottom right now down now down to sixty dollars and eighteen cents a barrel off about 1% from where closed yesterday. In this does push us. Firmly into bear market territory. Not for oil right now obviously at this point it's not something that's necessarily having a huge impact on the US economy's mores investment coming out. But I was talking about this yesterday Mike. I've got some concerns that prices dipped down. You backed into the forties or so I really don't see that it's something that at the same time that you have this new kind of inflation rising and other places and a slowdown in housing. Things can get a little bit normally. Yeah it could get real ugly I don't wanna CO I don't wanna see oil pop back up to 120 either no I just I really would rather stay in this sixty to eighty range I think that's a really healthy level for oil. And am I but let's talk a little bit about some cause and effect here is let's talk a little bit about the hiring and sanctions what happened there I mean there are set to go into place. Then they were reversed. But I think some of the issue here is everyone was expecting these sanctions are gonna place. All these countries not everyone. Aka yeah I'm producing I never thought they'd go fully into effect. So everybody started producing a hole. S ton of oil. And base that is just in of oversupply at this point. Yes so he he pretty much what you have right now is to give me an example. The US in the last two years has gone from putting out eight point one million barrels day up to eleven point six million. Like 35% increase talking going to be okay. He liked that. Ass time you can make it. To stunning amount of oil and okay that's that's just an ass time it's it's actually day it's there it's a real measurement that they use to go. Anyways as we as we continue to look at the big thing that you have here. Is you know a lot of people we again we saw all the articles published in you know late September early October hey watch out oil could go to 20020 any sanctions go into effect. Know whenever kind of sat back and say gee what if they don't actually go into effect because the US government. Doesn't have the leverage to be able to push them fully into it and it's exactly what we have ended up seeing. Right now. Let's take a break and when we come back we're going to be talking about a rival to Tesla that Volkswagen is pushing. And also who Google is picking ahead of their new health care initiatives that is right after this. Every year to benefit the DAV Disabled American Veterans and last year. They ended up raising over a 100000. Dollars. For this cause we always make a donation every year. On the big thing that you have to realize DAB what they aren't they they're pretty much is their nonprofit charity and they really tried to provide support for veterans. Of any generation a unit served at any time. And they've helped over a million veterans in a whole bunch of different ways that's on a yearly basis they provide almost 6151000. Rides for veterans attending medical appointments a year. They assist veterans with over 250000. Benefit claims annually. In these the people that are out there that have you know sacrifice. Their time. Their bodies in some cases their lives you know really making sure that we can do what we want to do back home and so if you want to donate this year. Please call 7814751540. Continuing the oil talked that we had previously. And I file this under claims of I don't know what the heck to think at this point. Goldman Sachs says there will quote be an oil shortage in the 2020s. To break. First of all OK let's let's talk about he's here here's the question that I always have with something like this so 2020s. First of all that's two years away not really about 2020s you know forty year Angeles now okay. 20/20 nine is ten years out so first of all were dramatically completing you know short term horizons and long term. If you wanna say hate in 2042 we're gonna have this be a problem okay like great. But 2020s. It's too wide of range not just in terms of you know of the times band that it encompasses but also. It's it will target time horizon again we've got short term now meshing with intermediate and long term. That this is the kind of prediction that. I'm not saying that they're fundamentally wrong is I don't know they may well be right. But this is the kind of stuff that I urge people to look at skeptically just because it doesn't really tell us anything. It doesn't. Am amazed pointing out. The thesis here is that. There's been in a lot of pressure to naught invest in new oil drilling projects from the mainly due from. Governments and citizens that are not interest in having. Fossil fuels surveys and because of that there's just not going to be enough new supply coming on board in 22 money. And I would argue that just doesn't make sense that's not how supply and demand had it's it's not I mean if if price goes up then we will find supply. It to bring price back down or we will transition over to different two different. You'd be used as you can you can substitute with gas can substitute a number of different options instead in this. Feels like the new quote peak oil hype pomp and you know peak oil if you you know if you remember was the theory was pot meal widely publicized back in the ninety's only we've we've. Drill and be able to access all of the east to obtain oil word we're not to be able to produce more the company said. If there's demand for it will figure out how to get it out of the groaned fracking OK so. This this to me it brings to drastically of peak oil. And figure I'm not saying that won't happen but that that premise is outlined here are the reason why it necessarily would he doesn't. It's it's effectively saying companies won't want to make profits if they're there and I've never seen a company that didn't wanna make a profit and a pass. Folks what. Volkswagen. Reportedly planned to sell in electric rival for Tesla for less than 23000 dollars you and everybody else did obvious that if anything talk reply listeners just say we want to try to do this it sounds more like the latter. They they're talking about shifting three German plants over two electric vehicles I would think that it's a very long time have received here in the United States probably first appearing in Europe before coming over this way. And I don't mean that Volkswagen does have the scale to do it they probably have the expertise to be able to do it. But they're way behind the bar here. By the way have you seen the of either view seen. The new. VW boss that the targeting for 20/20 love the look VW have you seen anyone. Does that and yes although it I think it is wise because it has look at go look at RV sales. Tucker don't look at hipster buying Arby's off the roof when I have kids and how much is gonna go for I don't care when I have kids and buying one. War realistically how much is a gonna go foreign you know millennial going to be buying us well I am a millennial and I've said it doesn't matter how much it's gonna go force so yes I will go to class thousand dollars you -- it's not going to be fifty Volkswagen does all the car's totaled I don't care about the price we'll know is it's I'm talking within reason is Volkswagen just hours arsenals within reason Nokia doctors Volkswagen of any cars priced at 55000. Yes. SUV. And maybe more but I'm Tony lake this thing is almost like you just the looks phenomenal it's got all kinds of space it's. I'm really excited about that new VW bus I know people wouldn't think I would because a it's electric and B it's a big you know clunky being but. This just in the students out there it just kind of captures my heart. Yeah I always have to revoke Wayne's got such a bad name kind of envisioning this like electric car and I just see them bring it on to the test. The testing floor and there's just like a guy in a Volkswagen outfit like to us meekly sneaking gas and the other candidates haven't. It's electric guys fully electric or Edwards accumulate a hundred mile extension cord included hit you know it's there's going to be some gimmick like that. Your world stay informed and up today about economic and market trends plus get breaking business news every day. And now the financial exchange with the Barry Armstrong and chuck son. Well we've made it to Friday. In the market almost had a good full week. And then the feds said it yesterday they were gonna keep raising interest rates now we're down about 1% most major indices today almost there. Almost there but not quite we'll see if this holds up over the course of the day Chuck Todd and Mike Armstrong here. Bear is out for the day we got soccer run in the ship and let's talk about what we learn from the Fed yesterday anything anything meaningful that you gleaned from. Well they've really reaffirmed December rate hikes that almost seems an issue and at this point unless things dramatically change in the next I don't know thirty days here. So almost definitely going to be having a December rate hike. Really just Rea reaffirmation of the only single piece of information that I garnered from that report was that they are keeping in guy on fixed business investment because you did see a bill that pretty significant drop in business investment. But other than that it seems like nothing really in the way of policy has been changing. You can probably bet on one rate hike in December and at least another tour next year. And I think the big thing this really hasn't adjusted probabilities for hikes next year we're still looking somewhere probably to hikes is the most common one that we see out there now is chance for either one or three is well on I'm expecting one not two. But it pretty much did maintain the status quo and fortunately. The status quo is something that's made people a little bit nervous when it comes to interest rates a tape we've seen you know that the ten year treasury rise one and a half percent in the last two years. Mortgage rates then have risen one half percent the last two years and that's starting to put pressure on housing so. There's some concern there Steve got that going on. And it it just I think you continue to have inflationary concerns after the Producer Price Index data we got this morning. That came in way hotter than expected I think in time will tell that's a one time blip or start of a new trend. But that number came in in almost half percent hotter than we were expecting. The good thing that I'm you know almost glad to see is I did not see any wavering in terms of commentary we had a terrible month of October in this you know the Fed chairman's. Words came out we really didn't see any commentary from the Fed. Wavering based on neo unfortunate marker to marker turns the month of October no back walking event you know blocking back news prior statements that really just saying. Hey it doesn't matter to me what the stock market's doing care about the economy in the economy really hasn't changed at its core. This leads us to our poll question of the day it's up right now on financial exchange showed dot com he can go over there and vote to please don't vote if you're driving but if you're at any other situation. Don't vote. That's or any other situation go vote at financial exchange show dot com the poll question is do you want higher interest rates Tucker what kind of results we have so far. Right now it's shifted to 5050. We've never had one and that way before now we have its allies yeah it was it was majority yes for the first hour but we've seen a shift here early in the second hour. Yeah our first city fifty if your CDs saver if your mortgage is paid off if you if you don't our own then extra degree for. Which seemed so low for so long I know there's some pent up demand for higher interest rates from lot. A lot of sabres. And add to the list of people that don't text and if you're flying a plane trees. Automobile this is not addressing it I said if you were far more things after flying a plane you could deal the text is everything's. Automated. Bloodied and I chemical fire was dry like it if you are in front of the controls of a moving vehicle. Don't text us a guy that's her otherwise thanks for qualified that statement 10 lawnmower. Right rider mower now. Don't text if you're in front of the controls for moving in the equity refrain from attacks in the financial exchange until you have either stopped or exited the vehicle. Otherwise. About it you know flipping burgers yup bratwurst and happens drop the phone and burn it. No drop Burke. Even worse. Google picking a new person to lead their health care initiatives. The previous CEO of Geisinger health system David Feinberg is going to be taking over. Who is David Feinberg and what does this mean. So I mean I've been waiting to see what Google really puts out there in terms. Be developments in the healthcare arena bee's have been spending money on a to have these coal companies they're doing. Really experimental outs their stuff. I personally I haven't seen much that Google has put him they've invested money they've clearly bring on important people to oversee the stuff. But I have not seen a lot and other doing stuff with him mosquitoes in with malaria. I know that they've been trying to decent you know innovative ways to address health care. Really just haven't seen any results. Yet in in this is kind of if it's interesting accused Google has you know their their moon shots division which was Google X for the longest time. And in this was kind of seems like they're. Building in the similar wayward Heyward is kind of looking long term we don't have any concrete plans but we wanna do something here. But we haven't really seen a lot come out of it yet so I'm curious if if mr. Feinberg is able to start trying to get some more concrete things going on here. Maybe that's a navy they're getting to the point where they're saying hey were rated star bring items to market or bring ideas to the public and we need a somebody who's. Had that sort of expertise in the past abuse. Well he hears something just that there is a little bit comforting to me so. Back in 2008 Google launched a an effort called Google health which was there attempt to create in electronic health records database they close in 2011 because apparently didn't catch on at all. I'm pretty thankful that it didn't get like is there anything more terrifying right now than like your medical records being in the cloud and you can they with Google that. You know it just like with all the privacy concerns that we have out there. I continue to harp on this data privacy is going to be one of the biggest fundamental things we need to. Worked on and really protect over the next twenty years and in it's really important to get that right. And I don't know who was the company to get into this what I find comforting is that one of their health care companies shares the same name as my daughter. Oh that's nice. What. We didn't realize named Darwin know Google planning a large New York City expansion where they can be set up shop. Ed them and everybody else it seems like so Amazon is projected to add big plans to there to their. Name is iris is due to presence. Alphabet is adding a one point three million square foot building in saint John's terminal in the west village area so. I'm kind of surprised at you know I'm not content and downright surprised. By the fact that Amazon choose parts of Europe apart there eight utility haven't officially they haven't it hasn't come out two numbers are pretty substantial at this point. That they're going to be going to New York Jeff Bezos is a master in his direction. Not really about history straight forward. But Google thing Google. You know putting pretty significant plan there it's only another 85 hundreds. Staff numbers it's not a huge move it's like they're going to be 30000 employees there. I've hundreds don't know anything to sneeze it's not at its it's a significant its nuclear increase there. It. Say between both of these you know New York is not really ever been thought of as a tech call. Does this did these companies going in there changed things as far as the perception of New York. And how many years ago. Seven years ago maybe maybe a decade ago. Mainly by Alley Bob and the CO their to really try and you boost sales. Side celebrates. People who are single app that happens every year on November 11 and started in 1993. Okay so way off I've been around for quite some time but really making a dent at this point so last year. The US Cyber Monday generated six point 59 billion dollars in total sales across the country Black Friday sought additional five billion online sales the same year. In China singles day a single day just on Alibaba as website turned 25 billion dollars in sales. Just from all involved just from Alibaba Group in 24 hours a purchases. Two and a half times what we saw in the combination. Black Friday plus Cyber Monday. Do you watch singles they by the way is on November 11 now has all the numbers are ones pence. Not exactly that's not bad actually restrict it it's just become this huge thing actually passed I have been reading about that there are parties there are festivals it's it's this. It's it's pretty much a national holiday mean it's it's absolutely huge at this point not the main goal obviously is to you know sell whole bunch of stuff as well. Did the total of the total that was gleaned by the way the told that was made by. Not Chinese. Online retailers last year and he mentioned the and the only about a total the total altogether was north of fifty billion dollars in and day. And I'll bow at home half and half of incredible JD dot com apparently made in other big chunk nineteen point one billion dollar. Guess I shouldn't be all that surprised you the bad if you look at Cyber Monday sales and Amazon's app and is on it's probably more and it seems recorders. You think it's that much I would I wouldn't be surprised at. Yeah yeah it's it's it's let's call fifty to 70%. Sort of forgot about veterans day this weekend and our Boston affiliate WRKO is hosting its annual radio Thon benefiting the Disabled American Veterans. DAV last year are you raised over a hundred grand for this great cause. They're nonprofit charity that provides a lifetime of support for veterans of all generations and their families helping more than a million veterans a year in positive life changing ways. Securitization provides nearly 6151000. Rides for veterans attending medical appointments they assist veterans with. To a quarter million benefit claims every year and 2017. Last York you raised over a 100000 dollars for deviant they're certainly open to top that again this year if you would like to make a donation please call 781. 475154. Row and negate that number again the number 7814751540. You know a topic that we've talked about a little bit over the last six months and in a move that. Has pretty much been telegraphed I think probably since the end of the summer yet the FDA appears poised now. To really kind of bring the hammer down on the sale of flavored. Who use. 75%. Since last year to about three million individuals or 20% of high school students. I wonder what I mean I guess probably back in the days that seventies we probably had smoking rates get as high as that but. I felt like in incredible. Incredible number. For those of you with high school students I've talked a few people I do high school age students. Texas and 6356 or to wanna hear about you know how often how prevalent doses. The regulations that are going to force their basically only you know sell these products. That bait shops. And tobacco. Shops with the idea that these two companies here these two types of places are a lot better checking IDs and gas stations pretty much. So some fascinating stats actually so in terms of and this is data from the CDC actually. Just going back through the 1990s in terms of high school students who are currently participating in frequent cigarette use traditional event. It was in the eleven to 12% range for much of the ninety's. Before going down into single digits about 68% depending on account of the year that you're looking yeah. But even if you strip that had so kidnapped frequent cigarette use but just current cigarette used by high school students. Still was around 20% as of now as of 2009. Which is shocking yeah. But that the numbers I mean there were it it looks like back in 199736%. Of high school students had smoked. Within the last year. I can't then it went down at seven days must sixty's and seventy's at numbers must have been 70% EM trying to find. With any anything from boo both I think our I doubt Dana that you know it I just can't find anything from early as a compass are pretty Gannett death. Keeping that information on the Dem apparently these these are just everywhere and I guess I mean look it's it's probably no different then. You know regular smoke in terms of being a white people start and so forth it's just. I think that students were likely to they probably think that this is safe for even though there's not really any long term data about whether or not these things are damaging in anyway. Yeah may very addicting that I don't know. I mean you tell me I don't look at the advertisers for these things but our people unaware that there's nicotine in these. Probably. I mean in nineteen year old Sammy Texan in nineteen year old nonsmoker nicotine addict I mean. It's it's there you go. There you go let's do it a bit of trivia here on the financial exchange on Sunday is veterans day and so we're going to be asking trivia. About the armed forces of the United States that in a great question here actually gonna get to. In just a second the winner of this question is gonna get a fifty dollar gift certificate to seasons 52 and a tribute contest is brought to you. By seasons 52 they've got 43 locations nationwide. Including two in the Boston area and one in West Palm Beach. And seasons 52 was on a mission and that mission is to provide you with a bitter week. Visit seasons 52 today in Burlington. He's going to while win this prize here how many American presidents served in the military. Texas at 63566. If you know the right answer. How many American presidents served in the military at port it was a good one yeah and this is one of my favorite ones that we've done to this point. But if you get the ranch and if you the fifth person with the right answer. You're gonna get that fifty dollar gift certificate. Coca-Cola is apparently trying to launch its own energy drinks despite owning almost 17% in monster energy drinks and monster. Really enjoy and. It's yet not too happy about so monster and Coca-Cola entered into an agreement. Back keen 2015 and so as part of the agreement Coke took a sixteen point 7% stake in monster. And they basically reached a distribution agreement saying hey you can use or distribution network to get your drinks out there and I mean dramatically has increased sales. Four monster they also gave them their brands for two other energy drinks that they had what were the other ones. No less Nazi dad exactly cities you know kind of smaller ones that got moved over. Part of the agreement was hey you cannot go sell some other branded. Energy drink you know you're gonna be exclusive to monster now. But there is this it sounds like there's some carve out to say hey if you branded as a Coca-Cola energy drink. And maybe you can get away with it that's as being fodder for right now is whether or not Coca-Cola can create their own. Coca coal energy product and sell it without breaking into the the agreement with months. And that's who they wanna call they wanna call Coca-Cola energy and the divers will be Coke coal energy no sugar. Which would seem to fit the fact that it's under the Coca-Cola brand of monster saying that they don't think the exception applies. This is just going to be a battle for legally uses again it's it's really going to be about wording on a contract read it we don't have a contract in front of us as is going to be one of those like what's the definite some what the definition of the word is is like is it's gonna be something like that that decides it. But monster not happy. Part of me wonders just if monsters big enough now that they wanted to try to get out from under the stake in buyback the rest of their company curbing energy drinks expected to generate fifteen point three billion dollars in sales in the United States this year who buys these things at Cingular to -- call it presents. Is it. Aria I mean might remain we're just pound energy drinks are finals aren't getting is that no it was awful. I would imagine we're gonna take a break when we come back we're talking about.
