This is the financial exchange with the very Armstrong and chunks of you're exclusive look at business and financial news affecting your day your city your world. Stay informed and up today about economic and market trends plus get breaking business news every day. And now the financial exchange with the very Armstrong and chuck Exxon. If you didn't know any better. Yeah same business Friday the thirteenth now Friday the fourteenth you've got all kinds of stuff going on and and really some strange things we have. This situation up in war it's an Andover where you have these explosions because of over over pressurized gas lines we've got a hurricane. This has made land fall down in North Carolina. All kinds of weird stuff going on right now. And yeah we've got some regular financial news to get to his well. But we're gonna get into some of these stories that really aired it just kind of strange to become completely Aston and obviously a little bit scary too. As you talk about the impacts of them talks out of Mike Armstrong we got Tucker still look. Run in the board for us and these things going out there we really can start off talking trade. Sharp is is easy way to get people to turn us off. Talk trade again. I mean it is the never ending its years ago way okay well let's get through as quickly as possible. President trump confirming new talks in the US China trade war but also. Continuing to ramp up some threats against Beijing is well. Yup so well. This has just continued to. It won't go weigh in today we seem to be wrapping it up and other places we should be wrapping up for Mexico cam day European Union but. At least the commentary out of president trump seems to be the yeah we're certainly not wrapping this up before mid terms and it probably not for the end this year. So yeah you don't think that there's something wrapped up for mid terms I do now please. I don't I don't accept I'm of the same opinion no Barea said look it's it's gonna be the best chance they have to make a deal. I just I will give it right now and if we play out the string united tickled to see exactly where we stand yet two weeks left in September at this point. We've got 1234. In October we've got about five and a half weeks until mid terms may call six and a half weeks until mid terms yeah. Now a lot of time. Now means at certain to wrap up what has been a real the difficult and heated negotiation. Which I think is at this point I think it's more likely to escalate India escalate. Bowers stadium put money on one vs the other yeah everything that's gonna escalate further route and being wound down before mid terms. What's the impact being when we take a look at this point. We've had tariffs on fifty billion dollars worth of Chinese imports. Applied since I believe July c.s starting to see them trickle in but. It hasn't made a huge impact today because a lot of these products are necessarily the ones that you and I are using on a daily basis yet I think the only to keep. And nine you're obviously the media ended is some degree ask ourselves you know we refocus on what might be happening down the road and what's being talked about. You know is the president and the administration wants you know tossed terrorists on 500 billion dollars over the goods but. What's actually gone into place so far has been relatively minor and polling of economists. Seventy point 4%. Of economists polled said that there really hasn't been much of an impact on the US economy so far because of these tariffs it's really the concern about future terrorist that has people nervous now part of it. It's easy for us to sit up here and say that simply because. You take a look threaten to England and we aren't necessarily in the industries that might be heavily affected okay. We're sitting there in the midwest and we are soybean farmers were pros in this scene G. Lost whole bunch of market share because I don't care what you say but I'm hurt I'm hurt right now we talked pig farmers they're saying gee look I'm having an awful lot of tried an awful hard time yes on my goods overseas is well right now so. It it really does depend on where you are in the country. But it is a blanket statement or oh gee you know terrorists in effect everyone this way right in the northeast were a little bit more insulated from some of these just because. We're not involved in a lot of these businesses and a lot of cases there are any pig forms in the northeast. It's just aren't nearly as many as you've seen down south threat. We don't have made agriculture don't have big manufacturing appears. It's a couple of areas that impact here in northeast don't talk a little bit about specifically the the auto sector when it comes to terrorists. We care because this is an area that has been front and center both because. Of concerns in terms of input cost going up as a result of steel and aluminum tariffs which. Those appear to be easing in some areas where I knew we had some exemptions that were made maybe 23 weeks ago for a number of countries on those. But more importantly. You've got US auto makers kind of trying to figure out they bring the hectic we build these cars because China's coming in saying hey we're gonna add tariffs on US made cars via exports China that are higher. The US say hey we want to add tariffs on all imports of vehicles. And US auto makers that they're going. We'll deal with passion on both offense all this is gonna do is make is built a whole bunch new factory spent a whole bunch of money in the that's gonna drive costs up in the short term because of all the money that we after recoup that. Yeah I take a look at the big list of industries that are impacted by US tariffs it's machinery electronics and automotive. If you look at the big industries impacted by Chinese tariffs were we talked about agribusiness we talked about news we haven't talked about the chemical's health care products but automotive as well so automotive is really the only. Sector on both sides of this that are really going to be hurt by both the US tariffs as well as Chinese terrorists if they. Continue to escalate in the way that you know people seem to be insinuated. And there was a survey that was done. Of companies in the auto sector this was done. By the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai and also the Beijing based American Chamber of Commerce in China in the reached out to people in the auto industry to hey have you been impacted. By the tariffs or threat of terrorist. The initial ready of US tariffs effective eighty point 5% of survey respondents in the automotive industry that big chunk that 75%. Say the Chinese duties have hit them. 60% of respondents say they were negatively affected by both US and China stairs now the goal of this again from. If you are looking at what the trump administration is trying to do here. That they're not trying to hide this is pretty straightforward. What the trop administration is. The US consumes more than any other country in the world and pretty much more anything and just about. What the drug administration wants to do is bring production back to where consumption happens that is the goal so. This is almost kind of the desired effect. If you look at this from the trump administration's perspective they're saying hey look we know we're making things harder for you bring your production back to the US wreck we didn't do this to make things easier for. Yeah I agree that that is exactly what's happening the difficulty for the auto makers for instance is that. They're getting that from both sides right so that China are saying hey if you wanna sell your cars here than you better darn darn well better make them here and so is the United States. So it there and caught a little bit in between a rock and a hard place it might be the case where in this seems very inefficient right. But you can imagine us military and efficient yeah yea you can imagine a scenario where you know all these. Auto companies are making the cars for that specific country in that specific quest country making very little in the way of scale and efficiency. Let's move away from trade now I think that we just enough raised enough straight talk it's well enough Smart enough won't we'll move on from there. And let's move over to a topic that we talk about this once or so we year because it seems like always comes up. You usually as were heading into the fall because there's always one or two ballot initiatives or something along those lines. And specifically. We're talking about minimum wage for restaurant workers and this touchy subject if you get into. It's tradition subject restaurant owners as well as workers as well as it patrons of different restaurants and I I personally. My personal view when it comes. To wages in tipping restaurants. I hate to dent in it and this is a personal thing OK I do not like tipping burqa is it places the responsibility in my opinion. On me to properly compensate in employee for the service that there do. They're part of businesses. That don't require tipping east active service generally I think Tucker does a pretty good job with the board. I don't tip him every day maybe I should and maybe he'd make highlight a five bachelor ratio cheap assets one putts I'm right up occasionally it's it's a route. I'll answer the data you don't know exactly. If you talk to a lot of restaurant workers okay especially restaurant workers in high end restaurants now. I use the example of obvious as we talked to Steve deep political about this all the time nosed obvious. And he says look my top servers they are making more than I would be able to pay them otherwise and in the act like Steve's not making that up late. If you or any high end restaurant. You're making a boatload of money in tips that you would not be making otherwise okay. Yeah and and that's a little bit of it you know I I understand your point of view on this but. And may and may be can be a combination of them but if I'm at a nice restaurant and I genuinely feel like I got. A either really good service not be really bad service them. I sometimes enjoy the ability I do enjoy it deleted you know impact that servers. That serves compensation to you like playing god. You like the feeling of control over another human being out that there's something wrong. I mean especially on the positive side if I'm at a nice place and I really feel like somebody went above and beyond to build its I think that's fair it's. I guess were I struggle is. Gee I guess I got it I it's night I gotta put this tip on the table in order to it to pay you know to make of that person to put food on it yet and that is the tough part you go to restaurants say maybe they're just freeze it is you know understaffed and you don't get great service but you look at. The eaters for all the food is like and ten years using it well and still get 15%. As persons and making money. What can publicize and opening it. Case where it's OK ONQ why not at an Applebee's and I ordered my steak medium rare and it comes well done. Well OK in my gonna do an investigative analysis to figure out okay did he rate the rate ordered down to. I don't know what actually happened I don't know where things went wrong during her ovaries. Hit it. Strong with apple not just saying like you know where your expectations are like a fast casual place like an Applebee's whereas you you go to adopt the nose you know expect top of let's say what denies it was not concede the obvious is obvious is never. Mel cooked anything Brad boarded there but it wouldn't happen their blessing that I went to a nice place diamond named Tony would say what to another nice steak house which I wouldn't do it is really w.s is my faith it is. Again I hate to say it really is that's where I went after I got engaged by the way Q got a special place in my heart. But so. Let's say that I went to a nice place and they didn't cook my food right in my gonna penalize the server went I don't know if it's his his or her fault ocean now. It's officials do so this is why struggle with some of the stuff is a puts all that responsibility on me and I don't know where things were wrong out of the cook had a bad day you know the you know he's coming in hung over maybe something's happening at home orchestra not Pena and you don't maybe a line cook and show a lot today yes exactly you know like this there's things that can happen. That are kinda adhere control and it's just like. Two I like. Everyone has bad days of work if I if I get paid based on the worst days of work I had panic at. It would be I'd like very good so I just I have a little sympathy to sometimes things just roll down real a real. There was future shoreline thank you so then this all brings us to the poll question which side you fall onto him first off the poll question should restaurant staff be paid and minimum wage. Meaning not you know saying OK once they collect all of their tips and yeah it does that come out and in my nose should the restaurants that he paid minimum wage and where do you fall let me just say this for a quick when I went to Europe for two separate trips. They did not expect that and they said that they were paid accordingly either employer. You know that's that's what they were crimes in our strategy is great service really great serve I took them anyways. But they were not expecting them what's elaborate service in Europe there injured but it does true that's probably true structure of. So I am of the opinion again it. I don't like having that responsibility because he keeps it. It makes me feel responsible for their well being and in our view that as you know the employer's domain I view that is something the employers to control so I should I would say. Yes I do think they should I don't wanna be involved and took. Mike. I I am I I would be a fan of paying. The restaurant staff the minimum wage guys to in order Chia eliminates a lot of that tipping that is I agree it's a no we're. Just seems unnecessary stage Tucker yeah I'd I mean I do tip by a never cheap ordered 220 you know less than 20% of that being said. It should be up to the customer to dictate what the employee makes at a restaurant. So that's our poll question of the day it's up right now financial exchange showed dot com. If you wanna tell us how were wrong you can text us at 63566. As well and tell us just how were wrong we are on this issue like why is it just a restaurant industry too that's on or stand. You know. We're here here's the other stuff that I struggle with that let's say well let's take a break and we'll talk more about this just as we got to take a break but we're right back talk a little bit more about tipping. We want to hear from. Thanks Steward diaries 263566. And let us know what you think about the stories we disguise your team to the financial exchange radio network. Go vote at financial exchange Joseph dot com and we will continue to monitor this about the situation up in Lawrence and over yesterday that was. Scary we actually had. When my wife's friends an upcoming to stay with us just because she lives in North Andover and they were told to evacuate. Effectively what you had here based on everything that we've heard. Is that there was an over pressurization. In some gas lines through out this area. That was served by Columbia gas now what happens in this case if they were a little cracks in any of these gas lines. The over pressurization can you over the open and also you've got a big gas leak. Or in some cases it can you create a crack on its own and you create a brand new gas leak is well. What happens in the reason why the whole town doesn't just go up all the ones. Not everyone you know he's going to occupied at any given point to someone might get home and put on the stove and all of a sudden boom there you go. Someone else comes only two cigarette at a different time in any of another one go but at one point at the early nineteen buyers going. At once and handle that this was like Iowa 330 in the afternoon some legislation late afternoon legend goes later. Yeah I'm right thank god had been 3:30 in the morning Morton's dinner time. Yeah and a lot of people don't work fortunately. Oh man we've only seen what one death from the so far 100. One person pass away I believe there are another posted twenty people who were injured as a result of this. And really some spooky stuff there was one reporter who was coming back to Boston on a flight. And you know had pictures out the plane window of this in it looked almost like a war zone like you just had the late just. Fires everywhere throughout the area scary it was really scary stuff. There is an investigation that's going on. State fire marshal's office heading that up and saying investigators are focusing on an over pressurization of a gas main owned by Columbia gas. And that's about all we know at the moment. Quick break here we come back we've got Wall Street watch and also talking about the MGM Springfield getting permanent clearance to. Time now for my whole street watch a look at the market's performance so far today thanks to Barry and jug right here on the financial exchange radio network. It is time for Wall Street Watson Mike let's start off with a look at nine source they are the parent company of Columbia gas. Who had all those problems in the awards and over there is is today. Nice or stock down 9% today yikes corrected that one of the largest fully regulated utility companies in the country serves about three and a half million gas customers and you know. Obviously with this issue here there's going to be a big investigation the stock is down. Two dollars and sixty cents which comes to about nine and a quarter percent as you mentioned and it's definitely too early to be making any conclusions about. Culpability but. Decade clearly this wasn't just some sort of coincidence with seventy plus homes catching fire so. Obviously investigation common stock reflecting net uncertainty stuck most of billion dollars in market cap on this news. Does that seem a little excessive. Probably. Yeah I mean billion dollars things go out on I hit today but late. What what do we ever seen something like this we have a billion dollars in claims from especially if fully regulated utility company. Now the question is doing they have significant repairs they have to make like of the gonna have to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to repair damaged lines that's day you know at any question about it you know if you've you've got. A number of lawsuits plus author payers. Maybe it. Maybe billion dollar losses. Now back craziness amongst opera's base you know has received typically. Stop marked just overreacting Izturis sorts of negative news. But varied yours yours issues this company forward. Some good news for MGM Springfield they have landed a permanent operation certificate from the Massachusetts gaming commission. Who pretty much said that. Keep doing exactly what do we like the way things have gone for the first month down they they got that permanent operations certificates. Seems to be I don't know either begins may plans to go. The gonna do this weekend on the early in my my wife's out of town it's going to be busy and I you know I've figured hey why not an overt and go to the casino for that to our Ryder can be couple hours but I'm Michael Saturday night for a little bit just to Tennessee what's going on and what it looks like more insular view ambiance of it was like Saturday. Apparently according to. I think two's Mike Mathis the president said that their revenue was way over what day forecasts initially and are opening weekend. So they I think it was a 150000. People went someone then I'll tell you what I'm really here is to seize the numbers for foxwoods Mohegan who Rea. For the fourth quarter this year here that's the move this week in shock. You think that deals now what it by ten ships get ten free Turk. Let her know she put tolerance but all this and that's they've always had cheap hotel rooms down there but. Really casino Alia I've always late in looking at the foxwoods mohicans in their consistently. High two's. Consistently and maybe it's just that Mir said that weekends when I used to go I just had enough. Loyalty points or whatever that you know about the prime time of course it China whales that come up. This is blown up because that's you know I'm on the whale plane at the ten dollar table you know stay here for very little. TB dollars on the U Springfield that in the MGM. Apparently they. I guess you know appeal the take home this record unfortunately you know I I won't be able to apparently I've been beaten in terms of first person kicked out mixing in I don't I won't be the first person kicked adds the MGM for counting cards and Tommy highland can now claim that rare distinction. They're first return of a state license business for doing Matheny said that was pretty cool art calendar and I don't take long at all reminder it's not illegal but they'll throw you out pretty damn question F -- yeah. Didn't make it very far apparently this was. That they've already out in front apparently a handful of card counters and says they open on August 20 fourths also highland take exception to the term cart counter he turn for the terms skilled player. Were all on the same page here. Everyone's got an ego you know it's just call what it is your card counting you count the number of cards that come out. And then it helps you when Peltz and form your strategy now I've been told what it is I just died when I see this picture of where one of those like really bad. Disguise an epic defeat last Tuesday because there are signs that stuff like that the F total yes. That Agassi that folks as you near retirement. Dot com Chris and dole has been helping families like yours for more than thirty years and they can help you to call 866. Story. 5699. That's 866848. 5699. Hurricane Florence. And made landfall earlier this morning in North Carolina. Expected to rank among the top ten costliest hurricanes ever and they might be it dodging a bullet on this works its landing as a category two which I know it still is there is gonna dump a tightly they're not gonna have the year the wind took the win that rich houses down to their foundations just massive flooding this thing is just pretty much. Parked right off the Carolina coast it's not going anywhere so just keep sweeping more wetness in from the ocean. It's happened it's still sitting right off the coast prohibits downer cat one right. The other the rest is down in like eighty mile an hour range with the flooding is going to be. Absolutely horrific now you're talking twenty to thirty inches this is similar to what we saw with Harvey in Houston the difference being. You'd you'd have better drainage in a lot of areas disuse and pretty much a parking lot for the most part. But the issue is what if once this thing gets England it's the stuff starts coming down through the mountains and stuff like that it potentially has some problems there you know North Carolina and South Carolina are very flat towards the coast and they slope up. You know it this has the potential specially you know I've got a ten foot storm surge that's coming through like a lot of these beached house just getting swamped completely via. Man. Again could have been a lot lot worse have been you know keeping up with family and friends that are down there and it's it's not good but you know no one's house is or blowing down of these groups are coming off so far witches. Good but in the flooding is still yet to come in from that's going to be a very serious issue. Yeah I was talking to while my parents earlier this morning there and term about a hundred miles England. And they did just that kind of had the first in a little mist and you know wind gusts that come through so nothing major yet but protecting them a little bit soon. Mission there if they still make sure they're got a life jackets on. Let's go let's talk a little bit about this a story about Hawaii and airlines. Launching a new nonstop route from Logan Airport to Honolulu. It's it's always been a little challenging to go from the Boston to Hawaii if you want to load times are routed through Sanford Sysco Dallas LA one of those three. And so this is going to be a ten hour nonstop flight covered about 5100 miles. It's going to be billed as the longest domestic flight in US history yeah so. This is a big deal here yeah that they say that there's already 500 people you know Bostonians today flying to and from Hawaii. So I mean it makes sense here. If I didn't have time annual kids or be very very tentative deal to bring about a ten hour flight he's known. All I don't I think they'd let my wife who's like. Nearly nine months pregnant on the flight anyway says that's that's fine nothing happened but. This is. This big deal. It's it's pretty exciting I think you know it one of the things that's always held me up about trying to go to Hawaii is okay got a community takes fourteen hours to get there the LA alternates where is this date you know it it did make that a little easier the time change still gonna be miserably slogan be up 1 in the morning there but. It's it's what is it seven our radar attention. Think 77. Somewhere in the ballpark so this is an exciting and direct Boston salon and Honolulu five days a week. Ten hour flight which definitely sucks but if you know if you're gonna wire there's no player over take. A cut then. Also some big news if you're into marijuana. That. When you say into marijuana do you mean like. Intuit or like business wise into a ball Oaxaca no. If you like marijuana if you're trying to make money off marijuana there's some big news in Massachusetts or Massachusetts credit union and become the First Financial institution in the state offer banking services to recreational marijuana cup. East at GFA federal credit union which was founded back in 1938 to serve the French Canadian immigrants. Eyes had courted in Gardiner said their rated jump into that sector. Yeah this this is too big for the recreational. We've industry in the Massachusetts this how it's done in Colorado to his New Orleans Erica and I idea I would assume that this is you know. Borrowing a model from California. Or from Colorado where. Big nationally regulated banks kick in interpret the more local credit genes might be. Bigger the credit unions might be able to so it's going to be adjusting this is the eighth barely small credit union to its only about 500 million dollars in assets so this does have the potential to be you know pretty good growth path for them if they could figure out how to make work. I think there's still be some questions about you know hey did they run neo afoul of the law and any areas in doing so. But it's you know this takes away if they're able to do this. Did this potentially. Takes away a lot of the questions about the recreational marijuana business in Massachusetts and that hey. You mourners met you know you're just gonna have these facilities sitting around with tens or hundreds thousands of dollars in cash and suitcases. Now they might not have to the location. Make sense is there added they're mainly coming north of the Worcester area and from what I understand a lot of the at least the growing facilities are out there are a lot of the video warehouse where they're growing sense to be out in that general vicinity so I think location wise this might make a lot of sense Virginia offense. Horribly we spend our money each year because I had no idea until I read this article Amanda. Just how much crap we spend our money on. Rate so American bent ordained when he 900 dollars the year lion restaurant food prepared drinks like RC and lottery ticket so it. There are a lot of you know things that were anybody on nearly potentially. Let's talk about restaurant food one of the things that blew my mind was that 38%. Of Americans dying out at least three times a week. Now. Does this statistic are we talking breakfast lunch and their combined is that just dinner. We're talking about restaurant food in general the week setting the threat it once for dinner with early up that response it. I'll be interpreted the question. And what you found on. Average was that even you know the the average person you're not those people pay you know buying three plus times a week. The outburst was going out for food 2.4 times a week that just seems like a lot doesn't it. I think it depends. For some people that might be a ticket that they don't you know and up into them or leave it there are we the money that they can be aiding. That's for other people it might be okay it has. You know six month the American APC. Eric but if this financially. Amanda looking at. This number I wanted to little clarification on it. Since 25%. By prepared drinks at least three times a week now that doesn't mean they're going out to a bar three times a week that could be. They're buying a lot today they're going out and buying a smoothie those are included in that category correct. Exactly were talking about non alcoholic beverages like Cosby like he like it. Maybe things like back. What about lottery players how how often do do the worst defenders play the lottery in a lot of cases. Great the lowest earning how well they're playing the lottery at least. Went the week were packed up more than a quarter of these people so they're spending in total more than 400 dollars a year so lottery ticket. Amended do you have any statistics just go back to turn to broker Germany thing on alcoholic drinks. With. This study we that it only aligned nonalcoholic drink got a would be interesting to see you know how people are gaining on alcohol. Yet that would be bad for me so I thought I could tell us or they may. Amanda what what is interesting is you know we we talk but this 2900 dollars a year that people are spending an average but. There was also in another Bankrate survey that's at 42% of Americans. Are comfortable the size their emergency funds is there's a big disconnect between what people are spending their money on and and what they should be spending their money on it seems. Absolutely I think people are not really. Really realizing that they're spending all the fun. The date could be using it better ways yes that we you don't have it money be or you know are breaking down our group that needs to replace. Maybe it but it's it's your priorities that the that our. Very good demand thanks for the time today we appreciate it. That is Amanda Dixon from Bankrate dot com orgasm I think we all know that the best way to go about your emergency budget is you know by winning lottery ran towards her and why why you know or dragon king's. It's it's it's the classic you have to spend money to make mark. Right field. You first Leslie teacher and business school. Mentally when the game now that I think about it I'm a little bit less surprised about 30% of people dying at least three times a week because there are. A few instances where I'm on the road and buying lunch for tougher for work. That's what surprised me over the last the 25% spending money I'm prepared drinks three times that we can 10% pursing lottery ticket three weeks prized equipment. I'm wondering there must file lottery tickets times a year neither I usually just immense gifts or something like you know by. I mean I've rarely rarely go a lot of my way to get a lot I'll only play if it's like huge. Mega Millions of or what have you a huge jackpot has got to play as your odds are so much better Altria. Being. People do this is a step ahead but but why are we stoop or I turn to applaud Hillary I know none of justice. Or the frak chino mine knows so. We know that most Americans don't have 400 dollars put away in emergency now. Are we so short sight it is my question what myself and this to be all kinds of don't crap when it comes arch arch or go to casino district and I'm. I'm going to a casino this weekend you wanna talk about don't claim top of the list of the chuck their people go to casino every weekend all for the most part I used to. Accurately Aaliyah when Africa graduated from college you cleaned up as to go to will sometimes it'd Lago Vista came out net positive but you know there were times where analysts note that negative big talk of money you know honestly. Okay where is Rick coming from this like it wasn't good all the time people just like instant gratification. I think right. There's a portal around that they do but I guess it's like as humans we are not very long term anchor no no it's it's funny we have the ability to think long term but really bad. You know we can think about OK five years from now I need to do this but we don't think about anything we have you today in order to get to that I think is apart people especially in light meals is you know they don't really worry. A ton about savings because they wanna know oh how fun in Jolo where as they like what am I gonna do economy years old you know. I eighty. Canyons. Hi this is chuck and Mike from the financial exchange were here to talk to you about the questions that you need to. Ask a potential financial advisor Mike there's a lot of different types of advisors out there. And one of the big questions that I think people really need to pay attention to. Oh for your client but they must in fact be in the client's best interests can give an example of how a fiduciary approach may differ from someone who's just acting as a broker for client. Yeah absolutely so when you take the case of Sam broker may have a slew of different investment options that they can use and let's say you're comparing two different mutual funds and they might both achieve the same objective. But one of them might pay the advisor 5% commission and one of them might pay the 3% commission. Under those circumstances the broker's fee no free to choose that 5% product because it pays him more. Whereas the fiduciary is going to be in a place where they must choose that product that is truly in the message their client and if they don't. Then they stand to face legal repercussions. Folks there's a new guy out from Armstrong advisory group this month that details all of the questions specifically the top ten questions to ask a financial advisor. Working our way towards the weekend and right now. Just about all eyes appear to be on the Carolina coast as we are seeing warrants. Make her arrival there really earlier this morning making landfall and then. Kind of just hovering right on the Carolina coast at this point. Expected in some parts two dropped eighteen to 24 inches of rain. The winds did not appear to be anywhere near as strong as they were 24 hours ago. Max wind speeds seem to be in the eighty and ninety mile an hour range which is enough to make really and comfortable and take down some tree limbs in this in that. But not enough to be ripping roofs off of houses so does appear that from a wind damage perspective the worst case scenario was averted. But Mike this is still going to be expensive as hell stormed cleanup is you talk about the potential. Flooding damaged. Mean that eighteen to 24 inches of rain is not really anywhere in the country handle. No man this is expected to top the him be in the top ten list of most expensive. Hurricanes in US history so. Certainly dodged a bullet on the wind front twitches. Good to hear I'm glad because that's you know that's written and really results and heavy deaths but the flooding damage still. Going to be shown and going to be severe have an update. For a mom I'm mom my around my mom and. Pattern Durham so I just got text actually wind is picking up endurance or was the reins of power outages in terms do so far due to falling trees. But they still have power at this point so more than half a million now without power in North Carolina. Yeah and it's it's gonna continue to get worse as the winds start to while move further in England where you do obviously have baker trees so we'll continue to monitor that as we go. I do wanna talk a bit about our whole question of the day this is up right now on financial exchange show dot com should restaurant's staff be paid minimum wage. Instead of relying on tips for their earnings Tucker what kind of results to we have thus. Fall deaths so far 61 point 7% of our listeners say yes they should be paid minimum wage and thirty point 2%. As saying no keep business. Text us your opinions as well at 63566. And curious to know where you stand on this issue. Personally I do tip because I feel that I'm responsible for. You know obviously providing a living wage for new of these these people were working in restaurants so. I've an awful lot of guilt that makes me tip pretty well. But I also hate taping with a passion I hate it I he that I hate America with him it's something where. You're making me judge whether or not the service is up to a certain standard and I don't know if it's necessarily. The servers fault and something went wrong I don't know if it's someone in the back whose studio and having a bad day. And sometimes things just go wrong and it's no one's fault. If you're server yourself I'd be mentioned in your opinion as well guys you've worked in this in this in in the restaurant industry and you NS server whether via high end restaurant tour you know being a big nationwide chain Texas at 63566. Give us your opinion on this do you think. You when you're working and insurers still working in that industry today would be better off for the minimum wage pay or the tipping method. Variants in your opinion. You know it's just lay it I think think this way in and we get these all the time here here's what that we got from 203 and I'm not picking on to a 3 but I am. Come no bad service deserves a bad tip their company in a restaurant needs tips to afford good help and help to weed out the bad and figure out how to do so well. OK let's look at some of these businesses that don't. Use chips are okay and see if you know they have problems with weeding out you know bad employees. If if you go. On it and try to think of a good example this. We're we're we're do you not tip it seems like you tip everywhere now first which bothers me. Retail shop via. That's a bad example to retail landscapes in nightmare these days. And. Journal thank. Like where's where's somewhere that you get good service but it's not dependent on tips. Answers. Answered. Getting you know your tires irritated some depth look at you go to an auto mechanic down okay. Do you have to tip the auto mechanic sure not no big build it and they shall we were there here's the cost of the labor OK they show you right on the receipt. And generally your wheels don't fall off when you drive out of healthcare sector. You know to be doctor. You know you don't have to why has he compensated properly by. The facility he works and there'd be very easy ways to replace the tipping method of determining what's the answer what. You could just lead you know. Customer satisfaction surveys at the end of dale other ways of doing this static. Alleviate the need protecting. I just think it's an outdated waiter puts all the personal computer and just now I'm not a fan. So that's our poll question they it's up right now on financial exchange show dot com. Sears reporting widening losses and tumbling sales they continue to closed unprofitable stores. Leading me to ask the question did he have any profitable stores. Do we know presumably some where's it just happens one bright able and why also they open. So away. You know based on this reports here is actually up about 13% today that's what dollar 35 a share but keep in mind it's it's partly because they're down 11% going into the earnings report these people were expecting it to be absolutely detrimental. So this story this year is here the key take way I see is it's costing them a lot of money to close these really unprofitable stores. But at least the ones that are still staying open have better sales numbers and the ones that close because they're comp store sales numbers are getting better. There's still terrible they're declining quarter over quarter recorder. But they're getting less. Sears stock by the way in the last 39 months is down 97%. It placed third in it a little over three years they've lost 97%. Of their value is just there's nothing left to. 148 million dollar company. It's it is just one of those great American companies that no longer is is going to be around unfortunately innovator die speaking of another nut company but a well a classic brand that is dying out here. Volkswagen getting rid of the beetle in the production after. You pretty much eat years making these little guys yeah you know I. Would have never driven one of these but it was like seeing a month there eight is the old ones of the new one either I mean they ignited I don't voice yeah I mean the old ones are cool down nostalgia factor but in the new ones is kind of cool to see one out there this year are you know when Bynum that's it's they only sold 151000. Of the best in the country -- I have only been inside 11 time I've never been and one idea and one person duo Mir and ones that one to enjoy your parents and the bug. Nothing nothing about but it is. As just you know. It's then missed out defector that seems to just gone away. Is there important appointment its. Really wanna sit amber met the Volkswagen bus. Haven't talked about doing that I think they were talking about it. I think they're talking about doing it felt in the concept car for recently. Yet they're wrong I'm not a big hit beef and bed. And abuse equipped vehicles of this since they Marcus of their coming down it's actually going to be in 20/20 two OK it's it's four years now he's going to be all electric yeah that's particles that's so late is the daylight and huge demand for testing looks cool I like. It's it's really hard to say that they something like this could look cool but I'm gonna I'm gonna show you what the concept looks like in tell me this doesn't look awesome. Does that equal but they're missing now for next year because the RV sales in this country have been through the roof and I think this would sell really really well to. It sounds that they wanna go totally electric bill in I think that's the big things I don't think they could have ready that quickly. But this is retirement after awhile I was younger generations are really getting into recreational vehicles I would honestly and those are through the roof yell Laurie you know this shot. What would that mean in this context is quite quick or easy that's why are these sales are up right yellow. Now now OK I just a parent traveling what can we talk that the anyways. I've often said hey I'm not on the electric vehicle train yet. This VW boss. Could be the car that gets me over there. I just don't care if it's electric or not I just want whatever is the most affordable item I just think if I just callously functional it's got a ton of space like. I would probably drive around in an electric VW boss. I will probably drive around and which ever vehicle is going to be long term cheaper for me if I don't have to buy gas and it makes my car cheaper than great algo by the electric car if it's not gonna be cheaper than a hit a by the gas cards that. GM were calling a million pickups and suvs in the United States that we've seen a whole host of recalls this week at a Ford Toyota seems like it or better spent one. Everyone's been recalling this one apparently. Is a steering defects. In these large suvs that has been linked to thirty crashes into injuries doesn't seem like it's like any deaths at this point but apparently. The power steering just goes out on these vehicles and then comes back on sporadically stance and the driver. Obviously has some difficulty steering if you in the middle attorney power steering is gone. As it ever happened to you guys know I've lost my RC four it is scary. Film sure. But my car about a year ago had a recall out on. It wasn't anything that sounded remotely dangerous but what it was. Apple's trying spells trying to sell we're at that time upcoming album is this happening with her every Friday at this time. Every single time or get a case of Friday's. Apple's trying to sell expensive phones in China will work go. Now. And here's what in the United States we all. Everyone in this generation. Those I would say under the age of 35 maybe yeah grew up with a much apple products in their lives. So you add the aipac the iPod you have been. Booker media that giant was the old like iMac I mean it was it didn't tell them you know handle those products the Chinese didn't grow up with that. There's not that same. A dedication to the brain and that you have here in the states I don't see this work. Do you think you know one of that things that apple even though you know date they don't have that you know built in history with apple. One of things that apple always sells hate once you're part of our ecosystem it's really hard to leave because it's it's it's it. Could ecosystem. And I agree there. But that's not gonna pick up new customers. Who knows so the biggest competition they're facing is against the android platform obviously yeah and how why is that why Wallace allow away makes most phones that opera yes he get them obviously you know Samsung sells in there as well. Butts. You know it it is a case where part of this you wonder if any of this gets caught up in kind of trade war that no consequences well where. What if you're sitting there in China do you say hey I'm gonna go with the Chinese company make my phone instead of the US one analog set that's just doing. Talk dollars and cents here at the starting price of new phones by apple in China yeah range from 950 to 14100 dollars whereas the rival product by. Since your wallet wallet while away. Start to 660 dollars. I mean I don't see. Again they don't have that history being attached to the apple brand which a lot of Americans did because of the famous and you know incredible. Innovation that they have an iPod. That didn't happen and so I don't see where they're regarded as customers for a. One in and you mention that price difference here's why that's such a big deal OK in the United States per capita GDP is about 59000 dollars it's pretty much works out to about what the average person makes in the United States the average house shall we talk about yes that's about 61000 dollars per household. China. Per capita is only 181000. Dollars so they're making a third as much. To really tough sell you make eighteen grand a year it's tough sell to say embarrassment 14100 been on the phone. Right now that's not. Ignore the fact that I and I concede that number that GDP per capita number in China increasing by 10% a year. But he's still have a ways to go. To catch up to you know American discretionary discretionary might they have spent on this earth. What did you back to our whole question of the day up right now on financial exchange showed dot com should restaurant's staff be paid minimum wage instead of relying on tips. Tucker what are the results now just 63%. However listeners say that yes the restaurant staff should be paid the minimum wage well 36 point 8% saying no but we did that several text messages. Coming and Otto had Anthony Edwards. You know I I think we're avoiding one of the importantly we're looking at this very much from the consumer and the employee's standpoint. Or kind of ignoring the fact of the employer and it away from the employer perspective pretty darn difficult to. Get rid of tipping and no implements Justin minimum wage across report in less it is something that is mandated by the state. If all of your competitors are doing the same thing makes it a lot easier but. You know let's say you're just a random restaurant in the south end of Boston you say they were getting away with Taj area and just paying you can't be original and why did you know he gets the problem. Because it's confused. We did have a couple tech. As you mentioned Tucker one for six or three the incentive to provide good service or work hard in the service industry would drop those who would still be servers and bartenders in the industry. They have to load the rest the text. So it would just wanna be there to complete their hours not provide answers fantastic service without being. I don't mean that or combat service you're gonna get fired exactly exactly you you're gonna that in your job you'll get fired. But that's how it works in any industry that doesn't have tips it's not just generally hot and morals like he has something now has again paid minimum wage if they're doing that they're gonna you know fired I'm yeah we don't see this it like let's talk about the growth story radioed to the grocery store now I don't. I don't typically get terrible service when I go to the first five await the needs to be accountability at every level that's the responsibility of the employer. He customer yeah I'm here to buy something I'm not here to tell you old dad employees should be fired. It's your job as the employers figure that out it's a broken system you know. Now talk about I mean specifically other industries that our entry level type jobs that don't require tipping so I just mentioned. A couple retail grocery stores what else is there that is a real entry level type job that you typically don't seek tipping. Costs entry level I mean he's that athletic. That arm. Did certainly the taxi driver industry customer service like calls on earth sort of maybe. I guess that's more of an entry level job that doesn't tip. And I'm Carly weasel we and I don't know I can't need to find Blake is so many of them are in a the restaurant in you know they did you think that those are typically what you think it was kind of like an entry level job it's the only time how does not like case. Yeah it's mainly the the service industries that are those intro jobs and it's got a very intrinsic link to tipping even you know helped hotel services restaurants. Drivers to hotel services that that's also you know attempting to at and I'll I'll give you an example. Okay. You go on a plane now okay you took the flight attendants now. No they're bringing me food a premium two weeks you're not to my retirement and I'm now okay they still bring you what you like it not like they just sit there and it's not don't respond to you and why don't we took them. Because they get paid. Exactly silly I look at in the it's just I understand the rationale on one level and in I'd get that the systems entrenched. But it's it's just something that. They don't like so which cities it's it was San Francisco. Washington DC and one of the city that in my ex Seattle shipping channel being deceived but the results are a few years. And take a quick break when we come back we're talking about Smartphones with folding screens. Hi this is chuck and Mike from the financial exchange were here to talk about some of the questions that you need to make sure you ask your financial advisor if you're considering hiring one and Mike what are the big questions that I think everyone needs to pay attention to is who actually making the investment decisions when it comes to what goes decline its portfolio what what types of different situations and be seen as ours who makes the investment choices in portfolios decline. It's taken very significantly mean everything from TO a small independent advisors action running all those portfolios and investments themselves to completely hiring that entire piece of the business out to a third party why it's important that you understand which what is happening is because you want to make sure a the person that's making the investment decisions has the qualifications needed to do so. Understands the markets maybe has a chartered financial analyst on staff and B if they're not doing it themselves are there any additional costs to using a third party for the service lets talk about that second piece of particular how much additional cost you end up running into if they're outsourcing that management oh well I mean I I've seen numbers as high as another full percentage point if not more during the case where say you're paying your advisor 1%. And they using a third party money manager you might be layering on an additional 1% cost mainly doubling the cost of investing for. Folks the question of who makes the investment decisions in a client portfolios just one of the questions you need to ask a potential advisor and our strong advisory group has put together a new list of the top ten questions that you need to ask a potential advisor all you have to do to get it is call 800. 3934001. That's 803934001. Or if he'd rather get it online you can go right now and Armstrong advisory dot com once again that's our strong advisory dot com. Securities are for two securities America incorporated member finreg SIPC and advisory services are there securities America advisors incorporated Barry Armstrong representative Armstrong advisory group in the securities American companies are unaffiliated. And include. Larry show can the financial exchange on FaceBook FaceBook dot com slash the financial exchange this is the financial exchange radio network. So wanna get into a couple text that we're talking about with regards to. Tipping vs minimum wage. One from 50 wait says no tipping minimum wage is that you pay either way minimum wage will cost employers a heck of a lot more in the past that expense on the another person from now where was it's 50 wait also said that as wells we got a couple there. My point and I'm not trying to pay less. I'm happy to have it all wrapped into the bill if you want to make my deal 20% higher as a result of your employment cost that's fine. Just be responsible for I just don't wanna be responsible for properly compensating your employees I'm happy to pay more. If views is quote I'm gonna pay the same amount either way. Weeps I'm not trying to pay less giving a restaurant that'd be successful. And built by. Billing themselves on the idea that hey we're completely getting away from tipping attracting customers because of that no now I don't think there's enough people like me now. That's just my view five awaits as part of the push for wages is income taxes to fund the government. So what you're saying is that the reason why we shouldn't do this is because we wanna encourage tax fraud. That doesn't make sense that's not a good reason to not do this thank. That's just not how this works so Smartphone so we talk a little bit in the last segment about apple. And some of the higher priced phones they're trying to sell in China. We mentioned the company while way based out of China they announced plans to launch a whole global Smartphone so it's going to be a foot Smartphones that right. It and we've been here in rivers about this from more than just one Smartphone maker but it. Does beat pretty darn cool Gloria you're getting to the point where it's a pain to fit these Smartphones in your pockets now. Mandate full global one would be kind of action I don't know Fabio to fit like girlie man purse around Michael they horrified that this to. I mean they'll make went Korea you can have a really really. Hate folder one of these full assurance at a look big I mean like. Who's seeking only have one fold late you could have the sting like a map like you could have and fold in the lake a tablet that you keep in your pocket. Would only do wonderful. One pulled one full to start near nobody needs to fault. You know I mean as Samsung and apple one of the highlights and cutting her. And multiple faults. Both Samsung and apple or in this party it. And in a reason why this is coming to fruition the the previous issue with trying to build affordable Smartphone. Is with the LCD screens. You you have to have a bezel around so you have this big line right down the middle there it's like OG like that's where my phone fools. With the new screens that oh let's OLED screens. You don't have that same best guys the same reason they can build like the current ones and things like that. And so that's why you now have the potential for a full mobile phone that won't have a gap in the middle. Not a good. Not a good series in news if you make your business on selling laptop computers. Or tablets or any sort of computers it it feels like it's really interesting is in that we seem to keep merging towards a smaller number of devices you just think about how many things used to have in order to do what you do want your phone strike. It used to be a candidate carry around my digital camera and then have to carry around my phone and my checkbook. Think all the things in now all of a sudden it's taking too all that here. We're gonna see continued merging it into new one divisive and I think it's gonna be one device and watch for quick access to a public that do you think that the you remember the Google glass from like 45 years ago yes you think Smart glasses we'll ever get. No I don't I think Apple's in the work work and something up their two. I just don't see it let me ask you is some but when was the last time either view bought. Your own personal computer laptop. Or anything of that sort three years ago three years ago. It's been awhile I haven't bought a new personal for my own personal use computer since college. Every job that has provide new laptop that I can. Use for work in the news for personally supine news. That I have no idea why I would die and personal computer at this point I mean just gone back to the full bowl thing like that's a good parent with. They were killed laptop industry but I think that's the next revolutionary step for Smartphones. Is a full double screen. Yes they can put in your pocket. It in specifically I think is that the one thing that I think prevents us from getting into the point re gonna have. Yes of them that folds out into a full tablet. Is that right now that would be humble little is is that right now the battery technology isn't there are if that's if it would it would just be too bulky in your posture of if you can get to the port Rican shrink the battery down because battery tech is evolved. You can get you know something that is literally going to be paper thin you can fold up just like a piece of paper and put in your pocket but the battery tech isn't there. It's nine the only thing we seem to be improving on what battery tech is making it charge faster rather you know and he did so nice you know it is yeah but it's not you know it's not that I mean that's probably good news. If they can really evolved the wireless. Charging than you to a point where the need to get smaller it just can be charging anywhere. You know people talk about you know the bigger phones that we've gotten the reason why we happen wasn't the more battery. Yeah that's that's part of the reason why they've moved to do is bigger form factors. Hi this is that Mike archer we've been helping families like yours with their investment strategy through last thirty years and whether you're working with our team or another advisory wanna give you some free advice. So Jeff Bezos yesterday launching 82 billion dollar fund. To help homeless families as well as create preschools and called the day one fund. And pretty much business coming out insane. Hey look here's what we think it's gonna do but kinda like Amazon and we may get into some things that. We didn't really anticipate at the beginning. Yep is one you know big billion to big tech billionaires who had yet to really announcing what he's going to be doing with all this money in this kind of inched thinks he's worth a 150 billion dollar yeah I mean he's the the wealthiest. Person in modern history really good point two billion dollars and one point 5% year networks. Must be nice. Most in Heinz Field. But today you had Zuckerberg you've had Bill Gates coming out and you know really commuting to charitable cause with a lot of my dad and Warren Buffett has come out with you know what we're all their pledge were all their pledges that upon their half their network half of their net worth yeah that's I mean. That's. Really really respect that it to say hand and am I'm gonna be giving away half of mine network towards good charitable cause that in today. And yeah I recognize that they live a completely different light than any of us in this room but nonetheless that you have to respect that what's going owners. I do to a certain extent you know it's one thing to give away half your networks. It's another to give away free cheeseburgers through September 30 futurist. And that's exactly what Wendy's is doing this is the greatest promotion in the history and a promotion and that's a trend that. So. National cheeseburger today is a thing by the way I'd I didn't know what what when sister September. It's yeah in four days. So for the rest of the month with any Wendy's purchase. And using the fast food chains app you're going to get a free cheese burger at participating locate a single the day single. It differently is what what's the difference one patty overheard. The I don't. I looked at or JVC north or however many paddies you want and I don't. But win it. It's not a one time offer this is oh you're going get one free murder now this is you can go to Wendy's eight times a day in day eight free burgers what's the catch. What we mean what's yet to download. Yet now the when he's out the app you gotta you gotta order from the app oh yeah yet it is reset once today's CK is eight times to take him. But you could use it once today. CA get I think that when these price factoring in here is and it's it's going on from I think from now until September 30. But the factoring in that people aren't going to be doing this every single day because otherwise they'll die. Say possibly best case scenario worst case scenario somebody might do it like five or ten times but they do it every single day. Passed away as a fifth in a this is kind of a trend that is starting to pick up through September 29 chick filet. Is offering free orders of nuggets to anyone who creates each Tripoli one account or signs in yet in their new marvelous we decided to recruit was given away free blizzards for weak isn't it when I called as. Download via this but I called Starbucks effect. 1000% as the stars as they Starbucks affects our bus came out here and crushed it with their mobile ordering in mobile application and increased sales some crazy amount. This that the Starbucks. And that they are. Jumping on that bandwagon because it has been highly successful Dunkin' Donuts has been pushing people get on their app to I think they had some sort of promotion recently. It's a trend. You know we know where I think there'd be a good market for this. I don't know if anything like this exists already. But a white label up just for standalone stores that want to have a mobile app. You know let's say that you open mics up and and you say GA and I can't pay a Smartphone developer did you know develop an app for me. But just something where you pay 400 dollars and you haven't apps that you can take mobile deliveries. Mobile orders that I I think that will be phenomenal to us for you know single location restaurants that want to do something like this. Wasn't that like kind of what a problem. Does essentially the online ordering all that's for picked up America and that's for delivery rather I'm I'm saying look like what if what if you just had an apple to churn out yeah edges like you just want hey I just wanted to have an app so that I can you sell stuff in my restaurant to have people order on line. Interest on seven anyone says maybe it exists it it might exist said it wants this homeless people without phones can be totally bombed. Well that's true the good. Well it is so it could. I know that was set as a joke yet it in specifically. But think about if you're someone who doesn't have a Smartphone or a little bit upset that you can't get free food. As possible and how often you shop at Wendy's otherwise they'd been main driving factors they want to you right ditch who has a lead you know to get on their app. That's all owners yeah it's pretty tough to not have a Smartphone and I know a lot of people that don't have them but I don't know I mean with. With everything that we're doing national phone Smartphones today it's becoming more and more difficult don't some airlines now charge you to go print out your boarding pass my uncle does even haven't email address that's a couple some. It's got it's amazing I've never seen anything like it's awesome it's it's pretty spectacular but yes it is national cheese burger day promotion is going on at Wendy's through September 30. No word yet as to whether or not they'll be doing weigh ins on a daily basis but. One can only hope that that's part of this. Mike what you know by the company in oh. I know they make a decent looking car Chinese electric vehicle maker and I you know they just went public what last week. Two days ago two days ago a two days ago pretty recently. Had a pretty lackluster IPO they went down in the bottom their range they start at 626 that they were 76%. And I yesterday. Yet this second day of trading this was not that one point will pretty much they they got up to twelve dollars and eighty cents from that 66 he's arranged. Which is pretty impressive given that. They're not really doing a whole lot of production at the mall they're not but here's the thing I mean. This is a you know Chinese start up backed car company they're backed by ten cents effectively your backed by you know the Chinese Government. With all of the issues you're seeing it Tesla. I hate to see this because you know an American company going deck stacked up against the Chinese company. If I were betting on one of them to be more successful and put my money on and now. Why. I just think that Tesla is such a disaster right now from a management perspective. See I look at a company like this and I saved. How do I know that they can do what they say they can do you know they've they've got a couple in a couple vehicles that are out there in very small production. At the moment but. And look at and say look the there's been so many stories of Chinese companies with falsified accounting in this town and and a look at it's like. How do I know this is the repackaged version of that. I I don't know that's. But you know the amount of manufacturing that Tesla had to do over in China and the amount of technology that frankly the Chinese Government has stolen from you know US auto manufacturers just wouldn't be shocked if they had this. Near the technology sadness lockdown and were able to really mass produce these things a lot faster than test him. Now let's start by Goldman Sachs. With their new CEO who scheduled to start working in that role on October 1. David Solomon. Running at his leadership team and it's not really rocking the boat too much I don't think you know some people who are minority in pretty high places. But obviously it is going to be a shake up at the top four Goldman Sachs. Any relieve signifies a bit of a shift. Among Goldman Sachs and a lot of the big banks getting away from. What was a very big portion of their business which was generating revenue on trading and that's just disappeared of the last. Decades really since the financial crisis that's gone away. And not because you know people are buying and selling stocks they are but all of the competitors have just said hey we are going to. Cut the cost of this across the board and see a trading revenue just hasn't been theirs they're really relying a lot more on investment banking. Yeah and so what you have is mr. Walter who's taking over as the the chief operating officer John Walter in that is. He is 49 years old and right now he heads that investment banking arm as you mentioned. And then the other person who was named to this leadership team Stephen share taking over the financial chief he's 54 years old. And he is kind of overseeing their pushing the mainstream banking with that them the markets product that they've rolled out over the last few years so. It's as you mention it's a it's a signal that they are moving away from that trading model and it's you know it's it's it's really resisting. Have to I mean you take a look at you know the Schwab's and Fidelity's they're charging next to nothing. To trade and there's a lot of new startups that are during the same thing and so you you really have to find a different way to make money in the sector yeah he's you certainly do. Let's take a quick look at markets just as we head towards the top of the hour. Taking a look at where we stand at the moment. For US markets the Dow was up 63 points at the moment the S&P is up the re. NASDAQ is up sixteens in NASDAQ and Dow outperforming the S&P so far today. Gold right now is down five dollars and twenty cents and notes oil up a dollar thirteen a barrel closing back in on seventy dollars per barrel. And very quietly over the course this week ten year treasury is closing back in on 3%. It actually. At 1 point this morning we actually top 3% for the first time since early August so after dipping back down in that two point 82 point 85% range. Treasury yields rising a little bit that's something to watch year. Just as we go and and the reason for that. Is. As treasury yields rise it does result in more interest expense for the US government nor to continue to fund operations with the bigger and bigger deficit and ask government's home buyers. Lot's different impacts to our economy isn't sure it's creep up yet this is something you know it's it's been quietly happening here but. So that that bears some watching so pay attention that as we continue to go through the fall. That's all the time that we have. For the day to all time we have for the week and we'll be right back at it on Monday with more financial exchange.
