This is the financial exchange with the very Armstrong and chunks of you're exclusive look at business and financial news affecting your day your city your world. Stay informed and up today about economic and market trends plus get breaking business news every day. And now the financial exchange with the Barry Armstrong and chuck Exxon. We've got the G-7 summit kicking off we've got Verizon bringing in a new CEO we've got minimum wage proposals in the state of Massachusetts. And that's just the start of what we got to cover today trucks out of Mike Armstrong got Tucker's over here today as well Barry Armstrong is out for the day. Three get that little bit of fun on a Friday and Mike. Where better to have fun then that the G-7 summit I can think of a few dozen but I guess Quebec city's a pretty nice tournament. Quebec city is is phenomenal I I love Quebec city myself. But you've got these these seven countries that are going to be getting together you've got the United States you've got France you've got candy that you go to on the list. And if first tensions head and into this puppy here also Elsa you the last couple days it. Is not you know usually heading into these meetings you hear the GD escalation even if it's just you know window dressing yeah you you hear the well we're looking forward to a productive meeting we think that we might be able to get something done were really you know excited to be able to be at the table with all these people and you know be able to do something. Instead we get this and this is from 3 hours ago this morning from president trump I'm heading for Canada in the G-7 for talks that will mostly center on the long time unfair trade practice against the United States. Yeah that's not my idea well that investment. I would say that's not how you do it but that's how he does it. And that's what we and everyone else has come to expect so. Yadda I'm not sure what to make of that mean I hear a lot of people. Can add being panicked about this and you really concerned about how the markets are gonna react. In a worst case scenario it seems like things just stay that way dale. Well exactly so I I think markets have kind of become somewhat known to all of this talked about tariffs and trade her for the last six months because. You remember back in February when we first learned. That terrorists were being considered on aluminum or steel that's when we are seeing these you know Big Three percent swings data de and so forth. And now even with these G-7 talks you know really happening BO in the next twelve hours effectively. The Dow was off thirty points the S and p.'s off one the NASDAQ software like damn there's that there's no movement on this news right now. Now I mean. I don't personally like to see us you know having such big. Fights with our closest I mean these are in the earlier six closest allies ray in Canada Italy France Japan Germany United Kingdom all members of the G-7 summit tonight. We can't seem to agree on much of anything in or hurts the economy. At the same time we're all trying to the United States is trying to look towards China and really change our policy there and you know I don't like this is the way that we are you doing with our allies right now but it's maybe this is he just part of the DS wage agreements let's put aside late and dislike socket do we think anything gets done this weekend. Not on trade. I don't believe anything will happen on trade. Perhaps something happens positively in regards to North Korea this weekend. We've got the Kim Jung and trumps on it coming up. You know the economy and trade isn't the only thing that happens at these traders and retirement artificial intelligence the environment. Everything from gender equality to two wages so yeah there's a lot of different topics that will be discussed and potentially have room to. Two you'd be worked on that I don't think that it happens regards to trade other than potentially escalating. Terrorist. That's kind of the main thing the markets are looking out with regards this obviously the North Korea issue is going to be one that we talked about a lot over the next week as well with that summit set for. Four days farm from right now. But over the weekend trades going to be the big thing the markets wanna see progress on that tend to side with you and I don't think there's going to be any meaningful progress. On trade over the weekend here. Let's talk about where we might see a little bit of a potential backsliding on some the deal that was made and announced yesterday. You have groups of senators and congressmen who are coming out against the deal that the truck administration. Made with Chinese Telecom companies UTE. And effectively these groups of vol lawmaker saying. We we don't think we got a good enough deal here and we don't want this company coming back in the US and in any circumstance. And I want to give a little bit of background in terms of you know this whole discussion has been going on back in. Mid April the US banned. Exports to ZTE which is that the Chinese phone technology company. Because they were breaking sanctions and doing deals with North Korean written said the US basis said fine you're doing business with sanctioned countries we are no longer giving you any supplies for your products that pretty much put ZT out of business as he doesn't sound just about relies on we can no longer continue our operate exactly. Obviously you know that has been negotiated for months now and it just did come out that base is he tees it appeared billion dollar fine. And US enforcement officers will be inside the Chinese company monitoring its actions. And so you know on the surface and not a it doesn't seem like a terrible negotiation. At senators congress people like you said are not terribly excited about. Knowing and what's interesting is that you have the truck administration seemingly trying to do just about anything to work with ZTE. In this case. Even though ZTE as you mentioned. Was selling products to Iran win sanctioned and we know that the US just pulled out of the Iran deal and reinstated sanctions on Iran sees it many going. Gina doesn't quite make a ton of sense what some you know. Where's the coherent policy when it comes to the right now and I think that's the question that a lot of people in congress have witches. Look you'd you do own one thing on one side here. But why are you so. Anxious to kind of get something done on ZTE here and it's you can understand why there's a little consternation wide view congress kind of dragging its feet on this. It will mean again. I think you're looking at congress and the senate saying look we are taking this incredibly hard line and no it's a different topic I know we're not talking about. Sanctions or with you yeah we're not talking about sanctions on North Korea and Iran were talking about trade negotiations with our European allies. But on one we kind of are yeah but it's not in regards to them breaking a bunch of the rules right today and nobody knows dovetails in the league does it's it's talking about the broader relationships. And so you know I tend to agree right if I'm Chuck Schumer fine. You know Mitch McConnell lower is it Marco Rubio want to look at this and saying. Look we are giving up you know negotiating with China on and you know some issues that we really feel pretty strongly about. At the same time we are penalizing our allies. Just for the sake of not having huge having free trade and I don't know I don't. It just it potentially weaken your negotiating procession going forward. Along those lines the US is now working out with Japan on putting together some trade talks in July under a new bilateral framework here. And this is going to be led by the US trade representative Robert light Heiser as well as Japanese economy minister. To assume it's you know take the ensued they are going to be hopefully. Putting together some high level negotiations. In July to try to. You know get get some progress made on. Trade with Japan this yeah and it sounds like the kind of starting with a clean slate here retirement the G-7 summit and you know what could really come out of this. This is one thing that could kind of be knocked off. If you're talking about potential new negotiations start with Japan. And something during the G-7 really comes out to this afternoon knock that off the rail. That would be one of my concerns here is if if if these July negotiations really get interrupted by the action at the G-7 that can be concerned. Certainly could be let's take a quick break when we come back really be joined by Adam Shapiro from Fox Business right here on the financial exchange radio network. The woman Cunningham and show business and financial. It's it's the financial exchange with the very Armstrong and chunks on on the financial exchange radio network. And we're here to talk about a brand new product available for landlords it's called Z deposit dot net Jake. What. Barry we created a security deposit product to really help the problem a lot of land border facing with security deposits which is. You know one it's time consuming to open the small internal security pop number sons. And yet to go into the branch gets signed paperwork and their small dollars and in the turn. And it certainly the complaints in Massachusetts really tough for landlords and security deposit accounts. You have to give them ten in certain forms when they open up the count and you have to pay interest in you and did you do all this canal through Z deposit all of that you can do through Z deposit it literally takes about forty seconds opened up an account. We handled the automatic forms that are generated the account number department condition statement all that since the tenant. And the interest dissent lieutenant. Automatically every year. This sounds like something it's going to be very valuable to large landlords it might have 200 tenants and small landlords and might only have five tenths yeah absolutely with a large landlords. It's just a lot of hassle to managed so we make dad very efficient. For the small landlords a lot of them are afraid of nineteen complaints done correctly so some of them. Some of them don't even like taking security deposits were hopeful that this will help them do that. Folks if he'd like to learn more about C deposit go to their website Z deposit dot net. Joining us on the line now is at its appear from fox business and Adam thank you for joining us today. Good morning do. I don't let's talk first about the the G-7 obviously it has been to put it mildly slightly contentious over the last couple days heading in none of the usual pleasantries that we see heading into an event like this. Is there any expectation of positive movement on trade here. An expectation. No thought that it is called the is that happens there's going to be a lot of Twitter battles watched later I mean you've already had for an announcement crone. From France saying that perhaps instead of achieve that and they can have a communique and statement from chief fixed. That the United States may be comfortable being isolated by the he fixer or comfortable going it alone as well to that's gonna go forward president trump actually tweeted in response that that. You know that we don't really need all of this tell prime minister Trudeau president macro on. That they're charging the US mass of terrorists and create non monetary barriers. The EU trade surplus with the US as 151 billion and and it's it's our arms and others and today they're all going in loaded for bear. They're could be perhaps some kind of agreement although president that instinct for the whole two days. So. Don't expect much of the change. Let's let's turn our sights just to where this market is right now we've had somewhat of a stealth rally that's gone on since the start of April. With the S&P rallying from about 2600 now what just shy of 2800 about thirty points shy there. It is there optimism in this market that there is still room to go even with the Specter of trade hanging all votes. I grabbed the Specter trade I mean the real issue is China right. And so when we talk about the potential trade or the steel and aluminum tariffs are not expected to really have that big an impact on global growth. And the impact on prices in the United States are going to be felt still for several more months. You know people are starting to feel them at the production level that you and I its consumers haven't yet. So there isn't that much concern as it yet about the steel and aluminum chairs the real question is what happens in our negotiations with China. And so a lot of attention is being paid to that but there's an expectation that that will get worked out I mean there's already communique today. On all of this from the business roundtable in which they're urging. President trump and the Chinese to one don't implement the terrorists under section of the real one. Which allows the US. For national security issues to impose tariffs that the roundtable thing don't do that and work something out. And there's this back and forth with China we've already seen it that maybe something will get worked out you have the agreement with the key he. To pay its concessions. And you also have the Chinese think it would buy billions of dollars with a back cultural products. But the issue and we in the administration has what about the intellectual property issues that hasn't been addressed yet. I am with regards to this market as uninteresting statistic. Maybe a day or two ago. If you strip out FaceBook Google apple Amazon Microsoft and Netflix those six companies. From the performance of the S&P 500 it's actually negative this year instead of up four and a half percent. Is there any concern that this market just doesn't have a whole lot of breath to it and that if any of this leadership falters you could see this thing Paul partner hurry. Well there is concern that this thing could fall apart hurry a lot of people there are. You know saying we're due for a correction and remember a broken pot is cracked by day. But that you just said that there it is if you strip those out and S&P 500 negative. That would be to turning for a lot of people but remember that the Russell 2000. It's positive. And that's really the indicator for. Whether we're going into recession for a lot of people on trying to look at the new year to date the Russell 2000 is up 8% outside percent. So that would be countered the people who say look if you strip out the big tech from the US and 500. It's it's indicator of bad times come. Well and it seems to be also we're we've been getting some data out from the Atlanta fed who I know that they can be a little bit to put it mildly a little bit inconsistent when it comes there early project predictions on GDP. But it looks like Q2 is shaping up to be a pretty solid quarter this. Yeah well look look at the labor numbers mean you don't have to be a genius to read what's happening in the economy. Not only is unemployment at the record level full employment three point 8% for the and it went figure. But wages and and get walking on the wages. Wages rose year over year about it two point 7% but the non supervisory wager over year growth is two point 8% to two and I did. And heard the last several years that's been flat and it's now growing stronger it but it's nowhere near what the Federal Reserve wants. But the economy is on fire although it GDP growth hasn't it before percent that some people would like it to be but there's a good bet will be well break. And when I talked to a lot of economists is that consensus that I seem to hear is the reason that we can't get to GDP growth of 4% is just as we actually don't have enough workers you just can't add enough hours worked in the economy right now. Then if you look at hours worked they've been you know stagnant. It's hour two hours per week so they've been flat. So yeah they're we have a shortage of people and use up for the first time. That we have more jobs than people to fill the jobs. So that as an argument aid to you know maybe we need to open the borders let people into work if there's all kinds of ways you can go with this. But they're just are not enough Americans to fill the open position. Good Adam thank you for the time have a great weekend we'll catch up soon. Adams are from Fox Business talk about the state of the economy at this point. Here's my idea chuck massive huge tax credit for having children. So that we can have workers 23 years from now we want to bring back child labor to. Adoptions. You know. What's interesting it's maybe it's only in the last hundred years not I'm not an advocate of child late. But. It was really good read by you guys are it's ours great when he starts that you just know that you're going somewhere that you shouldn't yeah. It's amazing how children have turned in to liabilities over the last hundred years instead of being asked to used to be you had eight kids because you needed them to work on your form you had nine kids because you needed them to work in your business. Now you have one or two kids because you have to spend 250000. Dollars to raise them for eighteen years and then you have to pay for college on top. Estimated cost to raise its. In the northeast that leader cracked 250000. Dollars for college gets you wanna know why people aren't having more kids because they are money pants. Money it's your right we've got to labor shorts today and new kids tomorrow isn't really gonna sell that red green and the robots Verizon bringing in a new CEO they are bringing their chief. Technology officer in to that rule starting on August 1 correct tons dasburg use the former CEO. Ericsson it is technology company out of Sweden. She was ousted their for you really just a failure to be able to halt the slumping sales they've been seeing and it may take a look at Verizon and clearly they're in need of some sort of shakeup last five years the stock is basically flat you basically just been clip a coupon if you held on to that stock for the last five years. They're really being treated as utility company these days and I don't know would Howland went Verizon starts to move away from that. Well and in you look at the growth for all these telecoms. Was the fact that they had people were buying data plans that didn't have data plans didn't have Smartphones. Right. Everyone in their mothers got a Smartphone. If they like everyone who's going to does my mind 99 year old grandfather got an Apple iPhone about a year and a half ago when he has when you are maxed out. They give you are at capacity you apartment so I I remember. Having this discussion. There are similar discussion to this. When it Smartphones just are coming out while the iPhone was 07. What was the Blackberry blackberries were kind of a 203 time member having this discussion in like the early two thousands where divorcing in day and everyone's got a cell phone today. Where's the growth gonna come from and then boom Dina plans and really expensive Smartphones came. Is there something else along those lines that maybe it's that maybe it's the Smart home that you know these Telecom companies into substantive could be they need to find something. Talk a little bit about minimum wage in Massachusetts right now. There are negotiations. On on trying to keep a ballot measure. Off the ballot this fall to raise. Minimum wage up to fifteen dollars in Massachusetts but the two sides can't come anywhere close to an agreement right. Now they can't pay its charm are being combined that they sales tax cut from six recorder down to 5%. They obviously the retail association does not like this proposal. For Barry very obvious reasons not one bit that this sick weighs us. Into our poll question of the day up right now on financial exchange showed dot com what should the minimum wage be we've got four options Oreo. Ten dollars an hour twelve dollars an hour fifteen dollars an hour or. No minimum wage to head over to financial exchange showed dot com in vogue right now what should the minimum wage be 101215. Time now for Wall Street watch a look at the market's performance so far today but I don't Berrian jug right here on the financial exchange radio network. Time for Wall Street watch Mike let's start by looking at stitched fix what's going on there. Cystic tricks reported earnings stock is up seven and a half percent. This morning. A database they reported earnings well above consensus estimates. It's are just taking a look at the numbers here now. Crow profit of nine cents a share. With revenue loss coming in above forecasts. I just adding more subscribers this thing's getting relatively popular at this point about doc you sign there was the big guy electronic signature firms out there and I'm moving around a lot today but some news from them they're not this is the first time they've reported earnings since they IPO earlier this year. They actually earned a cent a share whereas most analysts have been expecting them to lose seven cents a share revenue beat forecasts. Just a really strong quarter and as well as the upgraded their guidance so initially stock was up about 4% about flat right now you know knew her company on the market not a whole lot of analysts not a big following at this point was being Tennessee where move to the next few quarters all right very good story that we touched on briefly yes they Amazon scoring the rights deal to stream twenty Premier League soccer games. He had me this is exciting for one of you guys in this room you watch really soccer. Ally I love to I don't watch much side as I'd like to will be changed things for. It's it's nice just to have you know potentially some more games coming through via you know socially it's always been just more accessibility and things like that. Me in and I think really for Amazon I mean this shows that they're continuing to make bigger pushes into sports they've already got some football games on there yet there's an FO Laurie yes they're gonna Thursday football now the dual in this working too much for merely soccer today. Odds and a lot of NBC networks as though NBC sports they have some even like at CNBC shows and games it's splits are defined in the states. And so the votes it's Saturday and Sunday morning right notes it's it's perfect you wake up you give slap yourself you know couple legs on the the frying pan and you're watching Oprah merely it's been as good as it gets to think this is only here in the United States and hands on those against at least allied I believe this is only four the United States maybe it would surprise me up broadcast rights in the UK album huge accident there if the legitimate right exactly deal dead. Yeah I didn't see anything with regards the UK but will see some big news coming out of Canada and maybe they're gonna be have a little fun at the G-7 summit actually hurt her campaign declaring a major hurdle in legalizing recreational marijuana mr. McDonald's say that the going to be getting rid of some quote layers of management as they tried to streamline their operations. You little bit more nimble and cut some costs here I mean you know a lot of these fast food chains are facing this. And you're seeing it's this is a completely separate program to tar Mattis corporate jobs but you've seen it in you know the digital order screens and some of these McDonald's used one yet. The keep us I have seen them I haven't seen immunity I haven't either but I've just been reading that they are pro union and then more and more of these chains and where are they is like I I know they've been saying that adding them all over the place I get to see one I haven't made that they're looking at different ways to cut costs frankly so they can invest in these. Yeah in these ordering kiosks which have high upfront costs but obviously the only cost on the road especially for talking about higher minimum wages. He's off pretty quickly. You know I was thinking to be fair I don't think I've been to a McDonald's last November. For so maybe that's why I haven't seen one day I rarely I went in Dallas cousins one across stream Earl severely hung over so we just one tournament. That would have been craving right now do and like I just I hit some Grupo action I before the end of the as a helpless. Determine whether or not they have the kiosks and I'm winner Johnson got a little mean Tucker creative if we're gonna you know bill this to the show we have to you know do some Greece are actually. Them that's the thing that your opinion on hunger again on your horse and you know there to McDonald's. You know where I see this really applying. Your have a horse airports. It. Airports and all the highways ops. And that's really high labor costs of these companies are definitely airports have you flown through Newark in the last yeah Allah and believable airport where did all that terminal so if you go through the united terminal new ports so good yeah every single restaurant. It is if receded every restaurant has iPad but at the bar cafe table every sees as a task or you just order there and and magically someone shows up with all of your food afterwards you pay right there you know your guard anyone it's all done rated that seat. And it's it's pretty cool actually it's critical to I think you can watch TV on it you watch TV they've got this like the video poker on bar games and stuff that the video poker and you know find you know differences between the two pictures and stop the jeweled. Eggs. Is this a candy cross all of this stuff like that so it's. The it's kind of where the future Golan and at the McDonald's right on you know where the track thinks that it. You know acting there's definitely room for growth with this company and find ways to squeeze more profit. For labor costs. Talk about squeezing more profit out KFC is moving to quote me replacements. For some holes there products that it's not what it sounds like. But what does it sound like yeah well what when I hear me replacement. Of the UK it is littered literally like grinding up like bones in this life that's what I thought at all even though I thought of what tofu. Yeah what they're actually talking call okay. This is I don't know I don't know how you guys great guys and on this I think this is so fascinating cool you do I think it is I mean I don't wanna eat at. Yeah Kentucky fried tofu but all the stuff that they're doing AFC. In terms of like developing d.s like meets Grunin Petri dish for dollar what do I know it's not that this is a really has bigotry just meet sounds interest. Yeah this is like Kentucky fried. Oh vote. So tofu and what's what's safe is. Six and is the ads like the flight hour based. I don't know it sounds like Satan it's. So it the doubles in the food via and so I mean this is once epic KFC's taking but there are a lot of companies that are out there are also developing these. You know he's really cool technologies. Replacing meets I think it's pretty I don't know of kid sees the right. Place to start with a full meet growing like because if it tasted anyway it is all about what's at what is dredged in and all the spices that if at all and then why don't we just get rid of the meat to begin with just give me more than fried stuff. If you're going KFC elect a camera and a meal there amass some fatty meal fatty check and then. Extra medical all you can go to KFC in debt follow me rates to hopefully you'll at least you don't walk into a salad place and say man where's the meat and you don't walk into a KFC and say. So I like something low calorie and low fat yet again I'm not gonna they're not gonna get Britain there you know I know deep fried chicken and also to just gonna have this stuff on the menu I would try a filly to get a lot of wasted tofu is nobody's going to I'm just on the I would go in and of businesses stick to their core competency is saying look we don't need to be everything every one. We just need to be everything to people who like us. And I I disagree again I think this is the right move at this point in time where more and more people are trying this stuff. Having it on your menu you can adjust your supply based on to and it doesn't work rates rapid but. Acting having an on your menu and seeing and testing it out I think that makes plan is sensor. Meet replacement place I love this stuff more. Rates down to a seven week low. Seeing a little bit more activity on mortgages as well we now have by the thirty year fixed rate mortgage. Down to four point 54%. Down a couple basis points since then. Adjustable rate mortgages down below three and three quarters now makes me feel pretty nice about my three point 875%. Thirty year mortgage to Iowa a three quarter but it's a it's floaters so I guess and arm I got four years left until that puppy adjusts upwards at some point in me to be refinancing. But yet that that three eights and fives so yeah I'm already at about mount a summary text summaries accidents or in cream. Which is a move your effort we have I'm right with yet. And then somebody else chimed in from the 617 same western Avant Alston has a McDonnell's kiosks around awhile we get it checked out launched today I'm gonna take a look at that you know western and we got another one that's are. Wakefield mass in Everett I guess both of these self of the kiosks as well. I'm certain way and we feel weak field and I'm nowhere Cuba as you what north away yourself short himself ordered ninety you don't go north like right now whenever now it's gets there and mix in north of Braintree. Any credit taken a financial problem just a wanna help people limited to just divorce although I can tell you divorces is one of them. Bigger concern or how many people happen again it's more common and so yes I mean the way you do it is what the language or put in the trust as you simply allow. The children to service trustee so they're doing everything like it's their own their own asset buying and selling it Sandra but they appoint an independent trustee. Who decides when distributions can come out to the child if anyone at their siblings know they should be an accountant or an attorney and they can remove and replace pulled it really the boss they don't get stuck with a you know some crazy attorney that's in there that that doesn't wanna give out assets. We're joined now by Taylor tapper from Bankrate dot com with they add new study that's come out about American's plans to retire and how much money did he did tell me playing how we plan on just never retiring Taylor thanks for coming on so. Tell slowed about the study guy you want with a responds like in dies. This study says that six in ten Americans have no idea how much they'll need to save for retirement. What what do we make in this study. Yet thanks pat me on I keep that he took Eric in that they don't need retirement. And that's you know like that it I think and so. It means that a lot of people are. Bickering heir apparent need the government and the idea of what apple have to have. Same sort of and it living in retirement and they do now other working. And that means that they're it went up for retirement so it just could not get that it is. Wow so what about the idea of what about the minority that did think they knew how much nature to hire though it were they saying that they would need in Carter retired on the road in terms of dollars and cents to say. Chaired an estimate was about the if he thousand dollars is the third median response among people who did have an idea. And that's probably less than on need but at the same a lot more than the average Aybar actually at the sort of medium. But it yeah I think that people. Are marked an unrealistic unrealistic at a clinic on retirement. We found that about nineteen million Americans. They're paying to retire which means about eighteen between Eric and are going to be wrong. A lot of people think that is working working its magic pollution you know having a retirement savings. But if you look at the data that have occurred batteries are credit to another quarter about it if he or. So if you'd working full time job to make madam now in your seventies is very very small so. That's sort of magic bullet went in there for. Yeah I mean it doesn't doesn't it look like it you guys also dove into his sort of the advice surround retirement how many people there what percentage of people are actually. Asking for advice on how to retire and what to save it and that centers that are. Yet about. The a quarter people thought he may cancel by their. Parent at spamming them where brand. Another 10% you retirement calculator. At the bank. Some people are currently information is going to it's bridge or sister made it to the baking using. I'm a lot of people are doing anything. So which is. Really I guess that dug it out of the back that. He would have on Kate are armed it and at all. You know it's it's not terribly surprising and I think that people need to let you're not gonna have a big number no luncheon my memory. One point four million dollars but you need to have a general and where you're going at a point. Then. So. There is one piece of information here which was a little bit. Disappointing but at least seemed a little realistic especially this week when we got the the status retiree programs like social security and Medicare are likely running out of money even sooner than we had thought. Sounds like 61%. Of your respond be said that they're pretty much assuming that's our security isn't really going to be a part of their retirement plan. But it didn't really really just because if you look at the data rate now. And you wreck that the we found that the number sense that it Ecuador napping security. And that's that probably not true because they you don't have a lot. You're gonna rely rarity with what people do now perhaps the current retirees and the thirty perhaps their parent and a quarter require. Now and then I am a pretty good security's so important and people. And if you're not eating any third army now that security is going to be you know that one of the biggest certain income for you when you're. The report came out. Earlier this week is not surprising. That we've known this for a long time. That they trust fund will run out there or at which point benefit will be reduced by a quarter. And all of the money going people come from payroll tax but that girl workers or pay. So there's a identity edu legislative fixes the map is in Arabic typical figure out if you've been in political will do that. Rankings usually hugely popular rather raising taxes on not taxpayers are reducing Social Security benefits right. Exactly yet. Yeah I I would I would now like in the pocket and clean Perry for you know what we're gonna benefit there I think something's going to happen order. Benefit cut actually take place. But that's politically are the thing about that report that should be that the that the one positive thing that people who have. Of this sort of dim view of what our security and get them if you would think that that would our people save more for retirement. Increase the retirement savings that they've made the calculation. Almost got a very aware of the art art or way to save more in the the but different the but it does not seem to be the case. There's this sort of collective shrug their ardently in. People don't really know what to do with it'd be that the problem too big bear a lot of people and but you know at this is going to be your life in the last they're like and they try to. Take the time and on it happening is that important thing they've sort average is important to you as your mortgage is being at the app that sort of imminent failure at. Senators to Mark Taylor tapper from Bankrate dot com of the recent study about Americans and how much money they need to retire appreciate coming on Taylor. Further proof that we are we're at we're spending economy were not receiving economy. If there's a lot every week had a residents and four main buckets. If an immediate annuity where you give insurance company mine they guarantee pension yet fixed annuity which is just a predetermined rate for a predetermined time. It index annuity and variable annuity and those two become a little bit more complicated. When we talk about the different kinds of annuities which ones might be more appropriate for someone who wants to take on a little bit of risk in order to get some additional growth. Well variable annuity typically is one where you take on more risk you're basically investing in different types in the market. With some guarantees attached to them whereas an indexed annuity you have no potential for a loss. But you have limited upside potential as well in a fixed annuity is probably most similar to what we see with they CDS certificate of deposits except it's not FDIC insured and absolutely correct usually the terms are a little bit longer than a traditional CD use it won't see for instance a six month fixed annuity for your general. We have the G-7 summit going on up in Quebec. President trump just landed up there I saw that his plane was taxing on on the runway in get ready get off the plane there so we've got. But to dig into one of the G-7 and whether or not there's going to be any. We'll continue to issue with hassles auto pilot system. Chuck Todd Mike Armstrong Tucker Sylvie here and Michael start first just recapping on what we've got coming out with the G-7 summit this weekend. Yes so obviously it's been pretty contentious leading up to a Twitter has been the the main news source for leading up to this. To this meeting today the general consensus at this point does not a whole lot of gonna get an entry there might be some other stuff done nine. North Korea in China but on trade between Europe. You know Europe Japan and the United States. Marriage she's in North America with Canada in the mix it doesn't seem like there's going to be a whole lot. Getting down there. The the G-7 economies by the way Canada France Germany Italy Japan the UK the United States. They represent 62%. Of the net worth in the world 280 trillion dollars. And 46%. Of global GDP in any given here. I wonder what just China and US alone nor. Between the two of them probably about thirty to 33% GDP I don't know from wealth perspective. What China has there. I can pool up actually adjusted it's 29 trillion dollars China's number two to the United States act racked via so about a 29 trillion dollars next to that too underneath trillion as the total net worst of the world. US is number one at well what we just hop forward writes that now US well just surpassed. 100 trillion dollars for the first time. Pop the champagne. Out. 102. Million dollars us just as they get emails a little nervous yes you know you sit there you I don't like he speaks a boy a gives it. What goes up must complete it is that is a bad in my that cynical that's the first thought that I have is how long diagonal line. Absolutely not you know we are an interesting way to measure this isn't just the number of dollars that is you know it's it's a cool benchmark and it makes Brian nice banner. But in inching way to measure it is the amount of net worth as compared to your personal income right so how much you're worth vs how much annual income your producing. That hit high two back in the first quarter. Actually it's the is that this is the current high 685%. Is the average. Net worth. As a percentage of disposable income and that is far higher than the last peak we have before the Great Recession which was back in 06 were repeat data 650%. So not only are we. Wealth the wealthiest we've ever been but where the wealthy as we ever been even in in comparison to our income. In I'd also like to point out what we call on the buffet indicator which is when you take the the value of the US stock market and compare it to GDP. We're getting pretty close to an all time high right now as well at this point not corporate equities are worth 142%. Of GDP the previous high that we hit. Now was back in 2000 during the tech ball when it was a 151%. Of GDP. So that just you know makes you feel a little bit nervous there as in voluntarily cringed. And just tell you how bad things can get just to make even more nervous the low that we hit during the financial crisis was 59 point 5% of GDP than and that was back in 2008. The low all time. Nikki minuses of this is somewhat reflective of interest rates and so forth as well. The all time was in 1983. When we are just 32%. Of GDP at that point that's the value of the stock market. Is there Nestle chart that shows the peaks and troughs at this and oh yeah I did what I yeah I got it right here. Yeah looks like that it's it's really useful for our radio listeners yes sorry that's that's pretty fast him and we can posted on to the FaceBook page or something like that. He had you know I am one of two things need to happen right for him revert back to the mean one of two things happens either. Judy the. Increases a lot faster than it has been or stock market comes down yet is that if if interest rates keep moving up. These kinds of valuations are necessarily sustainable you have to have more GDP growth and then then you can say OK take. Let's say over the next two years GDP grows 8% in the market doesn't move at all OK they say in okay see you know you're like a 120 130% okay like we've we've got a little room to run. If all you've seen is GDP going up 2%. In the mark can we go so much higher than that just because otherwise what are you actually buying it's not good value there so just something to laugh keep in mind. New tax laws obviously one of the biggest changes in the new tax law is the fact. Well there's there's two when it comes to Holmes number one the reduction in how much you can deduct as far as interest on mortgage number two. These salt production now capped a 101000 dollars in state and local taxes. State and local taxes yet are capped out now and yeah there's been some. That there's no real data on this yet hey it's very very early to be making any sort of assumptions here but the theory would be. People start moving from high tax states over to low tax states or even high cost counties. You know out of those and into community to think about a city like New York you know if you work in Horry and or live in Manhattan you pay one extra 9% in income taxes are maybe it's they might be less than. Well it it they'll give you examples even just within new England and specifically can look within Massachusetts now OK let's say that you're someone who for the last twenty years your family has lived. In. I don't know what's call it milk. Okay and no he's got high property tax now you say you know what. Ahmed down the kick is property taxes are low is known since their kids to school there's property tax or a whole lot cheaper down the caperton you're seeing people even make it moves nearly got him so I guess it's yet. And yeah I think it will be telling I again around the edges I don't think it's going to be all that Hugh Jim Massachusetts wallet is known as tax that you sits. Isn't even really in the top six in terms of high cost states say the top six should be new York New Jersey Connecticut California Maryland and Oregon. Six highest tax states I'd be really really interested to measure those. Populations. It's the civilian thinking new York and Connecticut over the next decade and see what really happens there. Yeah Connecticut you have to kind of looked take with a grain of salt is they've been seen population had options anyways in York and California Norton California designation because you you've seen those populations grown significantly still so I'd be interest in C. Knew where things go with this new tax code in fact. Tesla the the car that crashed when was this the one in March. Where a car was using test was driver assistance feature apparently the car had warned a driver. To have their hands on the wheel now we have confirmed. From the NTSB's that the driver in fact did not have their hands on the wheel during. This time around human error it turns out. Hold on a minute so. To bring this up the steering it reminded the driver to put his hands on the steering wheel. Fifteen minutes before the collision. We're not talking oh seconds into the equation here to my fifteen minutes born now. That's not saying that this guy wasn't distracted that is an indication that nature's hands aren't on the steering wheel early on spot. Yeah probably doing something stupid but it's not like the car screamed out hey you're not get a crash for two hands on the wheel and in doing anything it was fifteen minutes before this accident actually cap its Opel. It did. And I blame the driver but I I'll sibling to us and they're still working kinks. Here. There is a governor named Phil Maggie who is a consult on this and says that the the maximum hands free time with out in alert should be about two minutes is otherwise you just forget there was the depth and as. Potentially what you have here so it's again these systems are not perfect right now and these are the things that you need to iron out before these become mainstream. Yeah you know it's also accelerated. Just seconds before the crashes bumped up to 71%. Or 671 miles an hour right before the crash. Which you know if you've never seen something hit something else that 71 miles an hour it's usually. Not. Would we'll take a break here and when we come back we've got trivia right here on the financial exchange mixers to graph that were also talking a little bit about target. And then a recycled. And apparently they're poking around the Boston seaport district. Yeah they apparently already own nine acres in the seaport. And it's right or all right along summer street perfectly with the area. I didn't realize that they had a location there already bills I mean makes sense right if you if they're trying to. What they're trying to do with the spaces you know it very different from say the Pentagon. Or other areas they really want a military and civilian to have a place where they can bring and you know professors and engineers and not necessarily people with high security clearances to be able to just. Work on innovative projects. Super would seem like a good place to do. I see this very similar to what the the deer did back in the 1960s with. Robert MacNamara as whiz kids where they did they kind of said okay we need to design where we're gonna go over the next thirty years I see this as being a similar type project. That they are likely looking to kick off feared so it's going to be you know about 500 people that they try to bring in here. We like how we are at this point I think south of credit card but it was a Triple Crown. But we just had one like the whole attraction still three years ago was like oh we hadn't had one since affirmed that it believed in 3735. Years or something cool is it big brown is that who has now was crown American Ferrero Americans that's been around as the one that they it was -- there was always one that they thought was you know gonna get there. And the weather for the first two is absolutely atrocious there could you the last trees at preakness has now. It's cloud which I guess doesn't matter if you're watching on TV against Baltimore and generals is kind of thought that's just days just like depressing down there sometimes. Mean we live in Massachusetts. Not a whole lot better in terms of whether it's by a select group on Baltimore's entrance that's fair Starbucks making their caught be a little bit more expensive gel I know. How effective have they yet did what I just stepped in to yes Starbucks dorks you guys aren't happy about this and talk to. I mean what's going on and why you and happy that they're jacking up prices of between 1020 cents which I know a debt problems there already some ungodly expensive maybe it's just it's like a 1% increase yeah I mean not a three dollar profit incentive increases in Seoul grind day. Coffee which sixteen ounces which goes for 262. Right now is going to be 2% needs. Why why why they can hike in these prices what's going on I mean. World trade profitable Dunkin' Donuts is raising prices and they're not so maybe east Richard accuses Mel never thought I consider it can be switched. It is I would go to companies is not one year and fortunately. As that are on the result and ended there is IR Braylon when I was on a road trip randomly. Went to come visas 99 cent coffee is again it is great for France I start to get pretty embarrassed about how much. How many times stop it Starbucks in the afternoon together Colbert news 375 bird. A small ones like the 3:50. PM and so I've had bot I just bought the Trader Joe's Colbert. Yeah. I've been stress tests on an outlaw all the ball and just mix with water and if you want Cramer whatever. Toss it and there. I would get a cold group maker that you for a it was Christmas this year yeah and she loves to dispute he put it in like literally 24 hours in advance and it's ready the next day for too much reporting form. It's near bottled stuff that mix with water. This is why the world is now it is today if you can't even figure out how to make coffee without having to wait for its fall along these lines Starbucks is you know obviously continuing competition with McDonald's. On. I'm coffee sales but Starbucks now has more locations in the United States then McDonald's in this suddenly got a minute troll about fifteen years ago went out for expanded as well isn't this unbelievable I don't know what to think ID. It's the old joke he's got you know four quarters and an intersection there's a Starbucks on every one. Yeah I mean the fact it would have more locations and mcdonalds now part this is McDonald's have been closing down to. I mean bat I don't know that we're at peak McDonald's numbers of stores right now. He I'm wondering if they're looking at Starbucks. As. A valuable meeting place for people and that's why they're opening more more places I don't know. Because there's so much competition out there you know I don't like dolls come which was terrible packed. All the time and you're right if you're trying to Panera Bread if you try to bring a laptop and a somewhere and get a little bit of work done you're probably not do it McDonald's and let's say you bring up valid point and a I don't know if it's really generating revenue for Starbucks in the people sitting in the historical book they just lifted the wife viral right where you don't even have to make a purchase to get online to get on their lives that's interest in two why did. Either way it's it's something that certainly at the Starbucks just look in duke is this is the exact problem they ran into I think it was like 05 or six there and into this exact same thing. Well Monica joins us here talkback couples social media stocks today and. Paul thank you for coming all with us. It. Or doing well let's start first talking a little bit about Twitter the stock has been on an absolute hair this year. Don't from the low twenties up into the low forties now some nearly doubling over that time period. In the last years since it in the last 52 weeks it has more than doubled is this one it's still hasn't outsiders just getting too pricey now. Yeah I think that's a great question it is our hearts are of value on a lot of traditional metrics and they re in the our shots. You'll become being consistently profitable in the past where it where profit. But I think what could hear YE. Not as we counted the and that is. People like Jack Dorsey strategy. Really embracing wide media they export and news that that. That it help. People were engaged on Twitter again you're a girl picked up. Revenue growth as well I think that the reason why the stock a lot of people me included. You can written off. That you would invalidated by even being it's a quicker. Paul just let everyone that I talked to who has a love hate relationship with Twitter as as a platform they say why I love the ability to get information quickly easily and directly from the source. But they heap all the crap they have to read through and ordered to get it is there any fear of fatigue of people using the platform are we seeing any cracks. In the armor there. I I think that's going to always be a bit of a concern. I'd. The bigger issue with the birds Twitter is that that. I think people are finally comes the realization that that's beyond. Twitters something that the media. Our president was that a lot like these athletes love that they are in orchard but. Twitter the type thing where a lot of casual people about other people's tweets that they. I'm mom. That's I think you know a big difference there I think it's really a platform that has that. A certain feeling in terms of what the the growth might be added that a really trying to become like FaceBook have billions of users I think the better. Strategy to twitters to meet more at a dollars from the hundreds of millions of users and add. By increasing by Padilla. About a year and a half ago. All kinds of rumors that Twitter was for sale you know pretty much up for you know anyone who wanted to buy it they ended up not making a sale of the company. Is that completely off the table this point. I haven't heard those rumors return and now obviously with the stock price in what way has it that Twitter be much. More expensive and difficult acquisition. And I. I would argue that you know Twitter like being in the position we're. They have relationships with all all media companies that doesn't wanna get boxed in to say just one that media company that decides to. Acquire so I would be very surprised if Twitter were all this gotten past soul to archer media. What's been over talk a little bit about snapped chat and this is a company. That really is that a challenging. Start of the year I think they redesigned their platform that all kinds of backlash against that they're facing increased competition for Inkster Graham.
