Jobs jobs jobs it is Steve Jobs Friday the first Friday of the month and we have the numbers. I'm may jobs report and try to think about it depends on what your favorite sports you know if if you are a big soccer fan you call this cracker jobs report if you are. In to boxing you say this is a heavyweight jobs report. You know you can go down the list. This is about as good of a jobs report as you can get just across the board only a couple of little blemishes here. But this is probably one of the best ones that we've had. In the last year or two and so we're gonna do a little bit of digging in your checked out of Mike Armstrong we got Tucker silver run in the board. And Mike as you look through the the head line numbers here. Just about everything comes through. With flying colors 223000. Jobs created unemployment down to three point 8%. Participation rate in the labor force holding relatively stable at 62 point seven. Employment to population ratio was up wages up. You know eight cents an hour for the month which is a three and a half percent annualized pace I'm out of breath but it's a good one. I mean yeah there's there's nothing on here that has me. Concerned I'm still curious win this wage growth is gonna come but nonetheless coming its common. Eddie has two we can't get any of we are at the lowest unemployment rate that we have seen since 2000. We're we're now up to one if you look at the way they officially measure wages went up two point 7% year over year wage growth. And we've seen a little bit of an acceleration in the last six months getting close to 3% so you're starting to see this may be turned the corner here. And in part of that just 'cause. There are that many unemployed people anymore. Night eight. I I I know that might sound a little harsh to people who were out of work right now because I know there's someone listening who lost job last week I know there's someone listening lost job yesterday. The good news. You should be able to find went pretty quickly in this economy we've got six point five million job openings out there according to the government jobs numbers aimed. Really have. About six million unemployed like there aren't that many unemployed people don't. It's it's really tough to be unemployed if you don't want to be right now if you want to be unemployed. We could we can find a place for candidate there's ways to do that but if you want that job. Man we got. We all kinds jobs who got us care jobs got retail job your construction jobs technical services jobs this is I wish we could've gotten that Tucker was working on trying to get Oprah c'mon opened the show because I really just wanted senator did and yet when we were just an open the show with her just go would you get a job in you can edit it if I can that's where were right now. I don't know like. I'm trying not to sound too optimistic here is there's you know we've got some negative stuff with tariffs that we're gonna get into this and that. Oh man this is a good report. What isn't what it lets lets think of it from a small business owner what does this mean for you if or big bets on the what does this mean for you if you run Wal-Mart or you on target where you run it a laundromat. Down the road what does this mean for the employers what do you they'd look. It means you're going to be paying more fully. And so what it means. Is that you may have seen a temporary short term peak in corporate profits because you may see additional wages eating into some of those corporate profits over the rest of this year. And that's not a bad thing that's. That is a sign of healthy economy when you have. You know effectively. You need to pay people more because everyone else and point. Now this is somewhat of our own creation because we're not having enough kids to replace our parents in this and Neal Baer is not here but on the bill as role for the job I guess and say you. Get off my lawn and have some kids colonials are right you know let's let's get down to business here what. This is the really really good jobs report to take a look at the household survey there's two different surveys that they do here the household survey. Shoot 293000. Jobs created which means that the numbers that you've seen from the one that they send out companies. This is real that dip in the unemployment rate. It's not just as a people drop in out of the labor force you've got people get back to work in getting you know really getting jobs at this point so. This is a really really strong report mark camera from Bankrate dot com coming on in just a little bit to talk a little bit more about this jobs report. But this really dovetails. Into a couple things that I wanted to ask about today number one on our whole question of the day. And you can have right now to financial exchange show dot com and order to go vote in this poll question of the day. Do you know anyone who's looking for a job. Can't find one today OK it's a question. Hey I don't want a job brown retired but you know anyone who's looking for a job maybe young college grad maybe someone in their thirties just looking to why you know change careers Dino. Is there any one day you know who's looking for a job to can't find went today and I don't mean that they can't find the perfect job I mean you know so we can't find a job we give they walked into. You know a decently paying place of employment. Could they you know you can't they find that's that's and I'm trying to aspect that it really bad the united current. One. Anyways head over the financial exchange show and let us know you know anyone looking for a job who can't find went today and then were also gonna try to help those people out. If you are a business owner even if you are working. In a business that is hiring and you've been having trouble trying to hire people may be your hiring manager may be just need someone. And what the wages are on the job what you'll pay. Texas it's 63566. And let us know hey look we've been trying to hire Leo homers for the last four months and we can't find any. Texas let us know we've been trying to hire customer service associates for the last two months text us let us know we're trying to hire counts whatever the jobs are. Texas at 63566. And let us know what your company is in what your hiring. His name it we can do little good today try to you know maps and people open to play matchmaker and a future first time texting the show make sure use the word fairy. Fall buyer messages get you only have to do a once so but those the two things that we want to do we run and heavily interactive show today. Number one hit the financial exchange showed dot com do you know anyone looking for jobs who can't find one number two. Text us at 63566. If you have job openings let us know we want to help you build we're up employment agency but. We could be free of charge so now that we've gotten all the happy stuff out of the way let's talk terrorists okay is this. This is the other side of the equation. Is we had the US yesterday. Decide to put in place. And not grant any further extensions of exemptions on the stairs put in place tariffs on aluminum and steel imports from Mexico. Canada and the European Union yeah. And this is. Well Agnes let's look at from a numbered if prospectus if you are steel and aluminum workers in the United States you are pretty happy about it and actually you the US steel workers. Size guy so. I'm on pulling up the the tweet right now just as I'd have to find the end. It's by the united steelworkers united steelworkers which is a American and Canadian. I don't joint union. That's towards the steel and aluminum industry and they came out against these terrorists and I'm not huge this prize have both Canadian American members. Some US steel production companies pretty happy about it. Here's the thing with Max both Mexico and Canada they import far more US steel. Then we import from. Same with the loomed so what are we doing here we are effectively. What is this hurting the US steel and Chile and trade with those two countries or what what is this. Mean for companies that are. Heavy users of steel so where we're talking construction companies auto makers what does this mean for them is the first question I have. Is American made steel. Cable producing all the steel that they need today. No not today so effectively what it means is your new party scene the scene of the prices have jacked up since March. By you know career of 1520 depends what you attempt front you're looking at but the prices are ardea and they are. Staying there are there any dips that happened before they are back up now so you're prices on these products are up between ten and 30%. And to tell you what this means OK Wilbur Ross the secretary of commerce the person who. Really is in charge of putting this policy in place he went on CNBC about three months ago Campbell Soup canned. And talked about notes only gonna cost couple extra sense there but then also said. Yeah the cost of an automobiles likely gonna go up anywhere from three to 500 dollars as a result of us and we have in the United States okay we can we can do some math here is now that's what we do want a financial show is math we sell about sixteen million cars a year. And so we do the math and say okay let's stick the mid point there and say it's going to be an extra 400 dollars per carton. These terrorist just if if we apply and just cars equate to a six point four billion dollar tax increase. On US workers there goes the tax cut. So when when I look at this massive case now we have cars now we have construction now we have Campbell Soup cans now we've got Coke cans that. You go through all the different pieces here you're talking about billions of dollars in additional cost. In it doesn't generate additional growth. That's that we seem like we just went through the jobs report where received companies can't find enough people higher. We are we gonna find the workers to make all of this new American steel. Well it varied to have the extra they just don't have fallen out of the ground to magically like little you know do we just go to the worker plan and Salem gonna pick to view is their right like let's just pull Motley. Where to Wiig weird we get them from I don't know. And and here's the problem is you're messing with supply and demand and what you're doing is you're reducing the supply of available materials you're keeping demand the same. In that has one affect when effect or it drives up the cost. Up so this is something that we need to watch out for. We're gonna talk a whole lot more about this and and how it plays and some of these other negotiations going on both take a break right now when we come back a little more talk on tariffs and also getting into. A potential resolution for the political situation in Italy that's coming up right here on the financial exchange radio network. We'll look cunning and shoe business and financial. It's it's a financial exchange with Barry Armstrong and chuck son on the financial exchange radio network. Hi this is very Armstrong and if your landlord or property manager I'm sure you've heard me talk about Z rent leader banks tremendous on line rent collection program I'm excited to tell you now about their brand new product called Z deposit this is another free program which streamlined the opening of tenant security deposit accounts three totally digital experience with C deposit landlords can open an account online invite tenants to entered their information and manage all their security deposits Z deposit also automate many of the compliance headaches for landlords such as generating account disclosure forms and will even send out annual interest payments directly to Tenet's -- called the Z deposit -- to get started at 78164186. And we're here to talk about a brand new product available for landlords it's called Z deposit dot net Jake. What. Barry we created a security deposit product to really help the problem a lot of blame border facing with security deposits which is. You know one it's time consuming to open the small internal security polymer science. And yet to go into the bridge yes signed paperwork and their small dollars and Andy turn. And it's likely to complaints in Massachusetts really tough for landlords and security deposit accounts. You have to give them ten in certain forms when they open up the count and you have to pay interest and you. And we should do all this canal through Z deposit all of that you can do through Z deposit it literally takes about forty seconds to open up an account. We handled the automatic forms that are generated the account number department commission statement all that said lieutenant. And interest descent of the tenant. Automatically every year. This sounds like something it's going to be very valuable to large landlords it might have 200 tenants and small landlords that might only have five tenths yeah absolutely with a large landlords. It's just a lot of hassle to managed so we make dad very efficient. For the small landlords a lot of them are afraid of nineteen complaints done correctly so some of them some of them don't even like taking security deposits were hopeful that this will help them do that. Folks if he'd like to learn more about C deposit go to their website Z deposit dot net. Or you can call and speak to somebody on the Z deposit team it's 781641. 8691. Start a bit more about tariffs you're what does this do Mike these the implementation of these tariffs to the future of these NAFTA negotiations. You know my assumption was that the reason the administration impose these terrorists in the first place was to get. Canada and Mexico to table on NAFTA. So far it seems like it's having the exact opposite effect. At least the initial reaction that we're seeing a future though and from from Mexico is they came right back and said this is unacceptable and we the are it was their own terrorists. Mary long term concern with this and has been my concern with these negotiations for a while is not the in you know economic impact if you're gonna do these sorts terrorists it's not a bad time to do on because our economy is from Boston strong and you can probably absorb the cost. The issue I have is if you're gonna impose these tariffs and at the same time trying get all of our allies together to impose tariffs on Russia or I've ran war China. It's going to be really tough after going nine rounds with them and why would I not been exhausted and then say oh now my team up with the it's to go after China who is you know. The real issue with all these trade issues they're stealing technology there artificially lowering prices. How you gonna get cannon that's gonna come to the table with how you hit France and Germany to do that. When you're just in the midst of you slapping on big tariffs they're gonna impact their own economies. Same well and we do have a list of the items that are subject to tariffs coming from Canada as well. Items that are subject to wait 25%. Tariff our iron in non alloy steel. Stainless steel being gets other alloy steel tubes and pipes. Here's what we're gets interest in though certain items are subject to a 10% hair okay. One of them it's pretty close to home in New England OK and Eddie's a 10% tariff on maple syrup and I don't think Vermont's can be too happy about that no. Probably not. Other pieces do that that filtering here pretty much any kind of pro two's okay. Cucumbers Durkin Perkins okay good. Perkins. Hurt him. Pick the best pickles out there by the way costs reader that's going on out there couldn't. But there's give it to be 10% more expensive you can go to Canada now okay. Any kinds of sweets jams jellies. Condiments including soy sauce ketchup and other tomato sauce mustard Mayo so. You know. You relish. Exited to I don't see roles on the list but that doesn't mean it's not soups and Ross whiskey silly you you go down this list and you say. You know what's the impact here. It creates smaller markets for Americans to sell their businesses into and so you say great now right of Americans have to buy US steel. We yeah but now we can't sell our products as cheaply elsewhere and so do you see an offset there were doesn't really matter anyways in this is. This is what happens in trade wars so. We're on day one right now we'll see where it goes but you have all been on day one for three months and now it's been implement. Now so you sit there and you say OK well we'll see where this goes if all this good news on the jobs report you have an economy. It literally is is humming as well as it came because there are enough workers to higher. And then you go into Venus. And oh. Again today from the economic standpoint I don't like get to but I think it could be absorbed I am more much more concerned about the political ramifications down the road of trying to get our allies the table it's not about whether. Can be absorbed that it's it's you're creating a barrier that you don't need right now rest it's its. Why are you causing problems when you don't need to yet everything else humming along you're you're chugging along on the economy. And then you do this but. Let's talk a little bit about Italy they seem to making a little bit of progress. In trying to form a coalition governments have they don't need to go back and have other we have snap elections to try to figure out who's gonna run the country it looks like. The two biggest anti establishment parties low media and the five star movement. Appeared to be striking a deal here. Yes so if you yeah if you came in on Tuesday and saw the market tanking is largely due to these concerns and Italy. The bond markets were really throw an officer was selling Italian bonds and buying US treasuries and German bonds he sob bond yields go way way down. The story was that these two parties had initially elected. The an economic. 81 year old economists to the economic ministry which really has a lot of control over the top eight Italy's membership in the Euro zone and that was basically vetoed by the prime minister the president. CI that create all this concern about no man than me elections that are based. We're going to be able. Condemning the Euro zone and Italy's participation and it's or are they gonna figure this out it looks like. They are beginning to figure out they have replaced the economic minister. They're pushed him with someone that no one really knows anything about right. But at least they don't have a clear and stated. Opposition to the Euro zone nephew that's for. Let's move on talk a little bit about costume costume came out with their third quarter earnings. And the came in and they said look we we had to effectively give away some margin here. Because we had price cuts that we had to make in order team business we at higher freight costs. And so. Not a great quarter for them just because. They maintain some of their sales but they did so at a pretty high cost they did they mean you're seeing the gross margin slipping down to 11% for this company I mean you have the grocery business is a pretty tight margin business. But Tosca is traditionally don't hold that up with a better Jude their membership model. I think. I think that this is going to be. A very common story that we start seeing for a lot of US companies you've got costs on the rise in cost usage starting June 11 they're raising their wages that's exactly right they're raising their wages across the US from you know between 141415. An hour. And they have to near retirement this jobs report and Costco you did they're just like anybody else they cannot find good workers at the current wages. I think this is very very indicative of the types of earnings reports we are going to see from these companies that have had years. Of cheap labor cheap cheap fuel costs. In just easy margins you know what I'm really curious about this year. How's UPS Howard UPS and FedEx and hire those seasonal workers for Christmas season. When there's no one higher. Good question. Time now for mostly watch a look at the market's performance so far today but I don't Berrian jug right here on the financial exchange radio network. Time for Wall Street watched and Mike let's start first with via a new national oil company Brazil Petrobras down. That 9% right now that's going on. He had a news is that the CEO has unexpectedly stepped down. Yeah you don't like to hear that news obviously. Markets. Pounding it right now if you talk about Indy seemed here. Different allegations of fraud and corruption in Brazil almost daily and when you hear a kind of ominous story like this that's exit at least Wear mine mind goes right way. Not good let's CEO what's going on with though Wynn Resorts they're down a few percentage points is well that's rights or stock is down right now about five dollars thirty cents two point 7%. Continued that can be continues to try and you know very clear up their past they've their cut ties with that numbered for companies that partnered with. I've recently Mohegan Sun has filed a case with the with a judge in Massachusetts to throw out the the gaming commission's. Rice and user license here to the Wynn Resorts saying that the gaming commission did not do a good enough job. Researching the company in uncovering these issues. Don't know if that's entirely what's on the stock off but like I said wind down two point 6% as of right now. Interest in that is Wall Street watch some news from FaceBook they appeared to be on the verge of signing some new deals for some new shows. On their FaceBook watch platforms. They are so I hadn't been very familiar with pay FaceBook watch program but I think the idea here is that they are trying to find. Some legitimate news sources to. Counter what has become if faced its reputation right now is fake news and so this to me how can this go wrong fit news. I mean this this seems to me to be. A effort to counter that and so they're gonna try and find some you know route legitimate news personalities to host shows on their platform. I don't I don't see the demand for this deal I. All I do. I absolutely do. If it's news source gesture it's gonna get the millennial started like watch the actual news content as opposed to I mean they're not watching fox and CNN or anything like the problem is these this is exactly where there's gonna come from that's who their contract with us to get fox and CNN. Over on to face sure is the fact that they're on FaceBook and conducted the start watching them I should clarify I mean my point is that they're not gonna go on TV and find it but if it's on there computer. And our work yeah I think so when I could be wrong I could be wrong. Well they you know there in the middle negotiations doesn't sound like the negotiations have been going. Fairly well FaceBook doesn't really seem to know what their overall objective was here they've been changed the terms of all their negotiations. You know they start negotiations cancel them stirred them back up seems like a bit evade. Rushed mess right now. Which is shirt and while yes usually grab you know when you start negotiations and a completely rush to mask the use it on and. FaceBook these aside what it wants to be. It he would be everything every one can make everyone happy and I think that when they try to straddle these lines they get themselves into trouble because. It's it's just. If it sounds. I ended on the put it like this like they would we just wanna be friends with effort you did you fallacy via their new commercial yeah I did it's it's in which you kind of empty white hope. Empty wife told him you're just it's it's it's one of those commercials where it's oh wait. It used to be so great we used to be able lake things you see things about you elegantly built crap and then we turned into the place where the Internet heat's. Other go to the dominoes are but now. Where exactly dominos that is we sock but we're gonna try not to sockets much. It's just the way. You know it's just I've seen so many companies do that there was a Wells Fargo ad that came out and took that approach there was one for Hoover that you might have seen this at the same thing. It's like guys went every one does that. In the no one follows Yahoo! it starts to ring hollow that the follow up is more important in the message to Domino's was so effective because at the end of the day it's pizza. Who cares. Exactly what we like who quit errands you'll make a bad pizza you say great now gonna go to Taco Bell instead right. When you're Wells Fargo and you ruin someone's your spam or so that they can go by the house they wanna buy. You can't just apologize for that sorry doesn't go back together sorry it's not a pizza it's act hopes. Anyways I think yeah. So I think that it is fair to throw FaceBook in that same. That same baucus high power influencers like Wells Fargo. And I guess to a lesser degree Hoover's well you know they put people's lives in risk. Anyway this Mike archer in like you have watched president trump lay out his agenda very carefully because we know the decisions he makes may affect our clients and I'm a fiduciary which means. So there's a lot of milk being drug raid they've they've seen sales declined 3.5 percent. Or in the last five years which is a very big drop it doesn't surprise me one bit I mean take a look at the supermarket you've got all these different alternatives to milk they just didn't exist did it go look at all the shelves and shelves of alternatives to milled rice milk owned and milk soy milk chocolate. And I guess that's that war. That's just an the group I don't know in order you. Nobody here is about eight. It's well that the problem I think is also the people moving away from serial and that's a big place that it don't distort now we have to add on built in their diet is like you know Tucker was last have you edible series. Two 2007. The pick it's it's been a little while like I'll have an occasionally I remember growing up I had cereal every single day my parents had cereal every single day. I don't do that and loops. Now says that the stuff was just awful for. Yeah I mean I the only reason I have as much milk I always had milk in my fridge says Portman cop and like. Half I just all the bulk are anywhere but from my coffee I don't get more than anything else and if for cooking. Yup if I'm asking things sauce it's yet if I'm making me I needed delicious by the way chicken pot pie the other night which was phenomenal you will little note for our data from scratch Alia. Income available to show up on yeah no big deal. Just a couple of things are Sharon tells her own brands like old house and your picture on Twitter and next week next time. But yeah I think I still used for cooking it. I never sit down at the end of hard work gotta go man a glass of milk would be great there well I finally just after two gallons of whole milk a week right now. Two gallons and you've got twin girls all this undated an ego. I got to know me I know that our situations are will be different but yeah I still see the demand for it. The big thing that I don't really understand is. David I think the success of these different products has all been based on health benefits which to my knowledge really haven't been proven now. An all out really. You know and it in every food likes to claim that they're the healthiest like you could go on the YouTube and you could Google you know health benefits of anything. In this going to be someone who claims that every food as a health you know short of twinkies because I think we can all universally agree that twinkies. Are in no way is good for it except that maybe they do preserve your body so you live long and that's about the only way quite get there. You know no no good dairy farmers definitely have you know some issues to work through as far as the overall demand for their product. I think it's just a messaging issue. Yeah they haven't changed they haven't changed their branding their messaging in my fifty years and they just need to combat the fact that. All these other brands are beating them up from a health benefits perspective the other question that I have this is just talk about the sales of fluid milk. I wonder what's going on with that she's sales to Jesus knows it's not good for you. Jesus was going to be sturdier feel he has no it's it's tough to quit Jesus says its I tech refugees it is tough adequate geez. Todd we're talking about your new guy it's called deem mystifying trusts here's a question for you. Is it possible to protect your children's inheritance on talking about. After you die from their potential divorce which might not occur until five years after you passed away yeah and that's a wonderful thing about trust is so many people get tied up with taxes and probate and you know what. They do a lot after your dad. Never mind rate while you're living in this is one of them so the answer is absolutely yes. You can protect assets from future divorces of your children and and not even just divorces. Any creditor pick up a financial problems don't wanna help people limited to just divorce although I can tell you divorces is one of them. Bigger concern more common people happy again it's more common and so yes I mean the way you do it is what the language or put in the trust as you simply allow. The children to service trustee. So they're two and everything like it's their own. Their own asset buying selling etc. but they appoint an independent trustee. Who decides when distributions can come out to the child if anyone at their siblings know they should be an accountant or an attorney and they can remove and replace hold it really the boss they don't get stuck with a you know some crazy attorney that's in there that that doesn't wanna give out assets. And it's that's sold discretionary distribution that protects it from any divorce when they come knock and looking for money when wanna get divorced him the estate. For more information member of the eyes the mark hammer from Bankrate dot com joins us now at a dig more into the the jobs report mark thanks for joining us today. Great to be what you know is bracing. From earlier conversation now is worried you're gonna say something like and speaking of cheese but thanks to think about it that take that opportunity. I'm glad you went there and I didn't even have to Sany absolutely. You're just you're helping us out a ton to them. But mark this was a really good jobs report what stands out to you was being kind of the the key piece of this this puzzle here. Well what I would say at this point in the economic expansion which just turned nine years old day of this month is relatively speaking a little like trading for a long distance race slow and steady wins the what do mean by that is. I you do not want to have too much acceleration at this point otherwise you really do you rest the recession from essentially building up. Too much beam. And we can't be accused of that at this point that'll probably. Back you know some people might argue that you. You'd actually want a piece of moderation and economy right now to sustain the life of the expansion of so. What I would say is that in terms of this report it's really sort of the in tyrant the outlet. That there weren't any sort of a particular point that apparently a 2.2 and say oh well that part was you know really less than optimal yes. Wage growth remains. In consistent. The others the special and the state as we'd like to be I don't know we'll get their during the expansion it's been over predicted for you are now. But they know in totality SS Tuesday it's pretty good book report. Mark Warner things that I've kind of come around some curious where you stand on this. The major thing holding this economy back from moving more rapidly right now is the fact that we don't have enough workers is now the second month in a row were below 4% for unemployment. It's tough to hire out there. It's tough to hire first stop. I think that still there's a reticence on the part of business and reticent can also be because frankly they don't know how to do it at this point. Relative on the part of employers to pay more but well you know try to think about. What the options are instantly that were to break about this topic that's very real. Areas were read know that a wages are rising include. Construction workers truck drivers. Part of the reason for that is there's no alternative right you can't outsource homebuilding aside from doing sort of reprieve abdic doesn't work across the board. Until he ought buck shows up what the truck that literally a drive that attend the bill. Can't go without a truck driver you can outsource that out by the country for example and so. Those cases people are paying up and there you know pay either. Absorbing of them that have. Sucking it up on the cost. Peace or a passing those increases along in another case of where you don't have to pay up. Where you can substitute eve of the labor outside the local geography go out for example your auto maker going up by the country your auto maker. If you can substitute technologies such as putting the iPad in the front of the fast food restaurant and putting that person either. Behind the counter or somewhere else. That's for the substitution occur. I think frankly in some cases employers are. Accepting less qualified workers that hoping that he that they can give buyer they can train them up. And I think you know in a perfect world you do what Wal-Mart did this week and that is announced that they're gonna basically put their own good and put Leo good of their employers employees. Basically subsidize education for their workers would be great if that well as a nation we can do network probably not. At one point five trillion dollars of student loan debt but Erica was epic. The complaint Ares hear from people you know talking about the lead a force force participation rate in the U six number use six numbers but to me like that the lowest. Like reached out the regular rate since. Just about 2000. Force participation rate is still you know certainly lower than it was back in its peak at the high sixties it. I know I am really have a tough time token any holes in this in this report. Well I think I think if you wanna I've been a bit that the easy target is the wage. There's. Economists wool almost universally say that is the function of among other things two things the that is first of all obviously low inflation but secondly low productivity gate. There's a fair about it head scratching the goes on that says maybe we are capturing the actual productivity gains that are going on. But then. But does that mean that that's not to explain the wage. Problem or does that. At some point in that just big investor conundrum. You know I think right now we just keep fingers crossed about but he expected can't continue on my dad by the way we just published. A courtly economists surveyed this week at Bankrate dot com and know about it economist responding among the roughly two dozen looked for a reception in the next twelve months which obviously more content of the jobs creation as well. Or at least do an end to the growth. About 13 of them. The recession beginning in the next 44 months and and about 80% the occurring in the next three years I think what they're basically doing right now Wednesday. You know from a historical standpoint it ought to end by then because. You know we could come up all kinds of reasons why it ought to begin but the reality of the that we are seeing the circulation so to be a corporate special pride. Very good thank you mark we appreciate the time today and not a lot of cheese there I'll tell you. Well you know you can always ask about on the. It's great to be. Outstanding have a great weekend we'll catch up with the soon that is mark Hamrick from Bankrate dot com talking about the jobs report. If you miss the the data as we went through would die at the the top of the hour originally. I guess the first top of the hour sister coming back to the top right if you missed the data. We saw job growth of 223000. Jobs for the month of may the unemployment rate down to three point 8%. That you sixties it was down at seven point 67 point six of the spread there. It's only three point 8% spread we were around four and a half percent. At the beginning of last year's so that under employment index coming down as well. Wage growth for the month up eight cents per hour. Average weekly wage is now at 928. Dollars per week a year ago 901. Dollars a week so. Again the EU you do the mass BCG were still not quite where we wanna be from a wage growth perspective mark talked about that. And it's you have months like this but then you have a monthly last month where only saw force since dean. Just eats its inconsistent at this point it is and it's inconsistent it's been but Eric you know that when he was has been inconsistent it's been pretty consistently. Low. And that's fair in a very. Presumably we have to see at some point. We get all these people texting and that it can't find workers. Presumably go beyond the past these are wrong. To consumers these increased costs and just hire. Higher paid workers I think a lot of it too I think we're starting to see it on the lower end of the scale and that's where you wanna see. The minimum wage workers are getting bumped up wages. Lower to middle income workers that's where we wanna see increased wage growth because that is the biggest piece that impacts. The economy. Well in and that's money that gets spent right away I think that's what you reference exactly if someone is making a million bucks a year gets an extra 5%. They may spend they may not if someone make in 20000 dollars you gets an extra 5%. There's a minimum they're spending that money folks that's all the time we have on this hour. There's a lot every week had a president of four main buckets. If an immediate annuity where you give insurance company in my and they guarantee pension yet fixed annuity which is just a predetermined rate for a predetermined time. It index annuity and variable annuity in those two become a little bit more complicated. When we talk about the different kinds of annuities which ones might be more appropriate for someone who wants to take on a little bit of risk in order to get some additional growth. Well variable annuity typically is one where you take on more risk you're basically investing in different types in the market. With some guarantees attached to them whereas an indexed annuity you have no potential for a loss. But you have limited upside potential as well in a fixed annuity is probably most similar to what we see with they CDS certificate of deposits except it's not FDIC insured and absolutely correct usually the terms are a little bit longer than a traditional CD usually won't see for instance a six month fixed annuity for your general. Today about economic and market trends plus get breaking business news every day. And now the financial exchange with the Barry Armstrong and sharks done us. Jobs Friday here on the financial exchange and we've got a good one. I got a good one with his jobs report I'll tell you that much coming in with 200. What do you 3000 jobs created for the month of may. Unemployment rate down to three point 8% the use six under employment index down seven point 6% as the lowest we've been. You know I think sixteen years now on that indexed. Pretty years on the U 418 year immediately everything is just is just chugging along right now here. Wage growth getting better this month but remains to be seen whether this is. Near the start of a new trend or just kind of another inconsistent month here. Put overall mean. If you grade this out I give it somewhere. Probably B plus a minus it's it's not perfect as I'd love to see higher wage growth but it it's Coke's net pre close its so. Good numbers coming out today. You know I don't starts. A wage higher wage growth by end of this year I would just be shocked I had I cannot imagine a scenario where you can get. This much lower unemployment without wage growth doesn't make it doesn't make and his. That's going to be etched in CO plays with these terror stokes of companies have higher cost to pay for goods they're buying. They might choose say we are not going to give people additional wages. So watch something to watch there let's talk about this new service from. Now Wal-Mart this is a a new service. Cold jet black. And it's first of all the name I think sounds kind of depressing to begin was jet black yes I think it's sleek. You know we eat it sounds to emulate. Attacked he died it sounds paradise but it doesn't sound sleep to meet cents bleak it's like Blake. Rule would lately blacks is not again I don't need it I. I don't know we've doesn't do a lot three but let's talk about what it is that it's a platform that they've had in there program in their internal incubators are I doubt it's a program by Wal-Mart for its program by Wal-Mart and what it is it is going to be a fifty dollar per month program. I'm Ariel put keep on here. Where it's at it's it's fifty dollars a month. And it includes parts such as gift recommendations we tell someone what you want and they held. Cindy recommendations. Bill wrapped gifts for you they have quicker delivery easy returns but it's 600 dollars a year that it is now insanity the gaffe. Is there a lot of cross over him and I'm missing something but it doesn't seem like Wal-Mart really. Caters to people who need a personal shopper. Now I don't know try. Probably a high powered executive making three or 4000 dollars a year that needs to quickly get. Flowers for his wife on her birthday and needs to get a gift for his kid over the weekend and works eighty hours a week and so you. Humor her this is very attractive. Maybe I don't. Democrats are out of me but I have problem is you that top -- copy executive is not shopping bubble mark but that's the thing that's the service is not dedicated to Wal-Mart only they go to pottery barn they Gasol I don't go to a number of different retail. I grew yeah I've threw just Wal-Mart. Think you have a tough time attracting it. In some regard I can I can envision the back my head. Crap I forgot about this event coming up. Let me text this company and other sent me a few ideas for gifts that yet and happened for me and dropping off. I assume that same day it's not the same day it's trying to work. We don't have any idea how well this works either in that this is one of my questions on the so if you go into the guts of this. A lot of it is powered by chat box not by actual human beings than. And so you wonder you know how good they're going to be making recommendations and things like that. A I have questions about how well the going to be able pull the softness. A couple of years back every company in the world had all this excitement about chat thoughts it was getting a new way that customer service was done in. We don't need any customer service reps and more is chat bots are here that's sock. And that that if you ever had to deal with them they're done. It's awful it's Timmy you're human. I agree there and Wal-Mart doesn't know from what I can see anything about artificial intelligence which is. Something that you need here now maybe maybe they do but it's it's just. You know I looked at some of the screen shots that like they're trying to. It to show talking about like what this could be an and one of them has someone texting. Lilly's diapers stat and it says he orders confirmed for these diapers it'll be delivered tomorrow okay but. What if you haven't shopped there before. Right so you have to go through kind of giving you this information to begin with and then you know it's just. I just I wonder how good it's going to be breezes not same day delivery no. No it's if a player that you are a month I want same day delivery. It's I mean like fifty bucks a month is not a small chunk of change now apple released the so I wanna within two hours you know there's there's there's a limited number of people who were probably interest in this to begin with. I mean I think we need to I think we'd take a step back because none of us currently have a personal shopper. And maybe if you have a personal shopper that your paying 3000 dollar Wal-Mart here. Nobody you don't have to be you can have been sent to a number of different story the entire idea this platform is his personal go anywhere. His personal shoppers and go anywhere so maybe. Obviously we are not the target audience here now to be no clearly were no. And and to be fair the person who. Came up with this idea for Wal-Mart is one by name Jenny fleiss. And place if you don't recognize her name I guarantee you that one of your spouses will. Places the woman who invented in founded ran the wrong. Which I don't think if you are familiar with them it's a company that rents high and dresses that people can Wear to weddings. In they have grown massively and I think they even might be profitable at this point as a privately held company. So fleiss does know what she's talking about I'm not that I'm not knocking. Her because I think that she's very talented and in in pretty astute at these things I just wonder. If wal mart's brand is a bad scarier for this product that's why it's called jet black. I guarantee you go on this app there's not even any indication that is a Wal-Mart product. Of how we can sign up from we have to check that during the next break see if I can. Gillick a Fremont or something like that that be curious to see what it actually looks like. Some news is some bad news for Boston Beer Boston Beer company having to pay New York. So self driving cars like we've we've seen a flurry of news over the last couple days here. In particular yesterday. Softbank saying that it's 92 billion dollar vision fund's investment 2.2 five billion dollars into GM's driver was car units you know at this means to me. What movers. Out of this game what you see what Hoover did the other day now Hoover was apparently in discussions with Google over there Wayne Moe you know as to whether or not they could contract any of their self driving cars. If Hoover could contract Ramos yes. But at that epic that's that. Boy yeah I mean that was the company were all talking about right when we retire with a self driving cars Google maneuver it doesn't sound like it anymore like GM as far surpass surpass uber. Well it seems lake GM is made some strides they'll tell you it seems like wave which is Google's self drive in division is just about their way more apparently has placed an order for up to sixty twos 62000. Chrysler minivans. Can drive up price of my minimum purchase. We talk about your minivan purchase debt he decided. Have you made a choice of buying a minivan does not due until well you know my third kid is born leader in the new were used on. Probably. Can justify additional 101000 dollars for a for an hour. Well here's the thing is if this program rules that you might not even need to buy one. You could still show you could keep and tossed my kids and jumped at an event that you keep a normal man Michael Aris. And name give your kids this self driving minivans. And they're big enough to be able to get themselves in and out handle everything that they need to right at the what price to curse the adjective but this is this is big here when UC way to move policing these. Orders and this comes on the heels of them placing another order last year for the 20000 comptek compact cars. From jaguar Land Rover. They appear to be getting ready to scale up to roll this out for real and you know they. They've been working on his part kinda tried to rush this project along they hired a whole bunch of engineers from school. They pretty much stole all of the computer science robotics people from Carnegie Mellon university in Pittsburgh. And they tried edges and you throw money. And Google's been working on this for like ten to fifteen years. They've got millions of miles that they know what they're doing and it seems like you don't start talking about ordering 60000 minivans. Right unless you know you've got a product ready to go right. So it seems to me. They're getting pretty close it sounds like what they're gonna be doing is rolling out a full driver lists taxi service starting in Phoenix and pretty much moving up the West Coast next year. And next Austin and if it's gonna be fasting month my first question is how they're gonna price this thing. I'm sheep my guess is it's gonna be about the same as who I wanna bet there and cut five and 50%. I don't think they need to act may be about at their I think they will. And here's the other thing we talk about algebra and at that well we we talk about how wages for whoever drivers is a big part in a 25 to 30% of the overall cost. Remember who is not making money right now. So they can't cut too far from there and still be profitable I don't know if you go that far Underwood who for dollars so I'm curious to see where where this goes but. It sounds like we may have be real self driving service by the end of this year in Phoenix that's so I just doing some math in sixth 2000 minivans. If you're just paying twenty grand peace formula can. Nearly one quarter billion dollars were you you don't isn't as big spend you don't invest a billion dollars in minivans unless you mean. Hang on was that a prediction chuck as small prediction which it which part and this year Phoenix self driving cars almond. You want on a minute Janet Jackson on in just way mower just women cup just when you put on the board and the year. Put on the board great headline from Wall Street Journal normally you'd seasonally New York Post Samsonite CEO packs his bags a week after a short seller attack line back. Well if it but unfortunately. Says Samsung did not Sampson Sampson night. There this yields has resigned a week after. A short seller claim that he had misrepresented himself as having eight doctor. Sammy smaller young saudis denials were way off. This kind of that strange stories or it has brought the attention by. Blue orchid capital which is a company that has a very large short position and all of the short sellers have the weirdest names blue orca avenue. Nonetheless a paper to get their basic 48 page report just railing on Samsonite. It's this weird story where the CEO. Had spent a year curtain. Basically rolled in a Ph.D. program. And I've according to him obviously my friends or call me doctor is a joke and I didn't like get riding really strongly condemn that and than. Somehow. I got referred to his doctor and a lot of SEC filings regarding my company and it just kind of ballooned from there. So basically is the report came out and said you know the CEOs of Sam's eyes portray himself as having a Ph.D. when he clearly does. Along with a whole lot of other issues that the company. So not good there and obviously. You know this is a stock Samsonite I believe yesterday then was up on this news actually. Just because they were but they were down twenty for is 21% over just two days odds and make him back all those losses they are an additional 8% today though are there and I think Hong Kong actually. Halted trading on the stock for a few days. Dance what it looks like so a guy a near is down pretty severely there is news to minister restated bunch of numbers. It is in regards to accounting packed practices and pour governance you don't. Generally. Accounting practices and I'm gonna step away from one what's. Ticket quick look at our whole question of the day this is up right now on financial exchange showed dot com we had the big jobs report out today. Unemployment down to three point 8%. We have 223000. Jobs created so the question that we had. On our our poll question of the day. On financial exchange should ducked on the you know anyone who's looking for a job who can't find one today Tucker what are the results so far. We get 46% of our listeners saying yes. They in fact. Do you know someone who is looking for jobs can't find one today and obviously 53% are saying no so it's pretty close there I'd be curious text us at 63566. Let us know he if you're someone who voted yes in this poll. What field is that person looking for work in Kazaa and I'm curious what what kind of jobs people are looking for that they can't find some manufacturing. Is the counting is it to bar tending. I am curious to know lake where people were having trouble finding jobs. Because we continue to see really good jobs numbers to Texas at 63566. If you or someone you know was having trouble finding a job. Let us know what industry you're in. He's I'm curious to see you know where this is where this is a problem. Vermont. The great state of Vermont is now becoming even better the gonna pay you 101000 dollars to move there and. From hole like Alaska. What kept. Alaska they date payola is as simple it Taylor citizens basically oil or oil yes argument it was like Alaska yet similar to Alaska. Well it's. Different but it's different at the same look at that they'll pay you to move there. You moved to Vermont and they're gonna pay ten grand to basically boo lived there worked there and pay taxes. In this they they budgeted funds to support a hundred grants for the first three years are pretty much they said look. We're going to throw million dollars at this over the next three years and then twenty additional workers from each year on. And so it looks like. You know that they're pretty much saying we know that we can't get people to come and open businesses in Vermont is its. Vermont is I believe it's like the second least populated state in the country behind Wyoming. And so we know that it's not to be a center of commerce because you just don't have enough people wreck but they're saying look. We want you come and work remotely from Vermont because we think we're great place to live we think we have great people we think we have been of great yeah of natural. Speech usually talking skiing hiking biking whatever enter into trees. Lots trees. Vehicles are they make an interesting case in that. How different is Vermont really from Colorado when it comes to what you have from in nature perspective we're always is all I wanna move to Colorado because. You know post in the mountains and I can hike and ski in do this and that is just. Better I mean a regular car sponsor Vermont is just more extreme. Higher my ears how all the Vermont people all over you I didn't mean it you know better and Al Saleh to I just mean that these. G generally speaking if you compare the skiing in Colorado vs Vermont. Most people would say the skiing Colorado is generally better than all from high listeners just turned off the show and rob I'll tell. Michael tell you this if you look at where any of the US national ski team guys come from Anelka from rather the best years because the conditions. They are a lot tougher and has nothing to do our. To our strong advisory group got the truth about annuities Mike. Let's talk first about some of the benefits of annuities when it comes to tax deferral that's probably one of the main advantages that you get through the use of ingenuity. Correct I mean if you think about it traditional investment let's say you go out in your bias CD that's paying you 3% interest. You're paying taxes on that interest on your 1040 every single year. With an annuity you might be able to get that same 3% rate of return. But all the taxes are deferred and he decide to take that money out that can't be an advantage for somebody in high tax bracket today. Other benefits that are on there you have the ability at these writers either income benefits or death benefits on annuities they are and that's where things get a lot more complicated and it's very much dependent on each individual situation. Yet there are writers on there that can guarantee you that you get a certain amount of income for the rest of your life. But depending on your own current income situation that may mean up valuable there are things like death benefits and market protection. All sorts of these different things to be written into these contracts but they do come at a cost. The downside due duties the two biggest reasons that people have issues with the sometimes. They do lock your money up for long periods of time was surrender charges some of the newer products are able to reduce or in some cases eliminate those. And also you do have to worry a little bit about taxation on the back and taxed at ordinary income rates as opposed to at capital gains rates folks all this information and more. They say video pads ten pounds. But don't tell Berrian judge in the financial exchanges lives every day on FaceBook and YouTube. This is the financial exchange radio network. Sort of got the data from the Pew Research Center that shows that. Teens actually might be leaving FaceBook and it's certainly isn't good news for FaceBook but the follow up question that I have is after we get through this is vote that they eventually join and start using it once they. Stop being teens and start becoming adults. I don't think so. I mean the good news for FaceBook is they are attracting a lot of older users. But typically the trends tends to follow what the thirteen to seventeen year olds are doing eventually. Mean and maybe not thirteen to seventeen may be it's more eighteen to thirty. Is where that ends up by what what's the data show in terms of what they're using so the Pew Research Center revealed that only 51% of teens thirteen to seventeen are using FaceBook that's a 20% drop since 25 team which is huge. YouTube 85% say they use its 72% cities ins to Graham 69% that he snapped chat. Twitter 32%. And Tumblr is the last 14%. What caught. I just notes it they are. If there is any unite I used Twitter to get news and and look interesting piece of information. But man what a crappy platform. Yeah I mean Tucker and I know you're big Twitter user I have now used a ton just get news and everything but is there any bigger cesspool in the world than what you see there. Knowledge is really not as everybody hides behind you know these user names pretty much. You know I I think if you had to provide your actual name. MB verified thing to be a different different outlook and what are. You don't the most surprising thing about this survey was to me that 14% of teens are still using Tumblr. Primaries tomorrow pilot could entire toddlers right images of something I don't even quite know I think it's like blogs. And Internet stuff I think in some blogs and pictures and whatnot but they haven't kids. Get off my lawn but yes it's when when I'm on the Internet and the information superhighway. You know I I just I I don't know what Tumblr is but. I wonder if some of these people who were using it who are using FaceBook now as they get older they say OG everyone's on FaceBook. My office. Do they migrate onto. Could name and maybe that is late in the game. And now he's going to print on the other thing not doing that in your sixteen year old that just don't see why you get started thirtieth here's the other reason why this really doesn't matter. FaceBook owns instead Graham right exactly right. And on a day it's the same company and answer is eating snap jets one trade via so it's they own where all the teams are going so yet they might not be on FaceBook. But that's like saying oh people stop buying cattle like the other still buying Japanese media. Does it doesn't really matter Dick's Sporting Goods is trying to follow. Best buy his playbook after other athletic store bankruptcies what does what does this mean this headline for MarketWatch in. It basically means that since so many of the athletic apparel companies have just gone out of business and athletic supply companies series it was a big one around sports authority ports authority has merit and don't know if it's worth thirty when out of his few years ago we is go out of business and other foods but that was electronics who was mow Dell's didn't they go to know O'Dell's store around there was one other one from like New Jersey that. Went down I thought. But I mean the idea is that infant in the face of a decrease competitive landscape may be decks can. Do little bit better here they need to an answer digital business and they need to focus on according to us farm and it just focus on private labels and improving the in store experience. They do I mean. Ye when you go into these stories it could definitely be better in store experience I think. For a lot of sporting goods store is making proprietary stuff that you only get there rate news maybe have a baseball expert check the kids swing. Maybe you now have golf I. All pros there skates are golfing business kinda what killed it and stop playing well in golf burn but Syria had experts urged. This store for the Wall Street Journal regarding Amazon it's titled how Amazon wins. And it's it's fascinating in terms of how would they tape. Effectively partnerships with companies and eventually turns on ahead and and say oh now that we've learned everything about your business. We're gonna do a better than. Yeah and I mean I think that's the main argument you could make. With Amazon being anti competitive as. They're really really good at this you know they have this massively. Huge. Cloud. You know did Amazon Web Services business that accounts for 73% of their operating income even though it's only generating 11% of all the revenue. And they basically have businesses on here that. You know they try and do all sorts of Hillary different computing and Dan algorithmic modeling and Amazon basically figures out what they're doing and says. We can do this so it's it's as an example I'm not saying that this is a company that this happened to. Amazon may host Nike's website chair and say oh gee now that we've warned all this data about how your customers actually behave. We're going to build an easier way to sell shoes and we're gonna make sure that you can do that via we do things better than ninety. That's that's pretty much what they're talking about doing in the problem is that companies come to Amazon and a lot of cases looking for a technology partner. In what they end up with some times is finding out hey we got a partner for a couple of years in an Amazon turned around. Undercut our business based on what they learned and all of a sudden our sales are worse than they were before and whose fault is that. It's the it's the company's yeah. Don't go into business for your competitor. You have to know that Amazon's main business is still retail down and so if you are a retailer partnering with them on their technology side. Yeah you do have to be a little bit wary don't get. Yeah I mean you got to go into that eyes wide open you know if you're if you're trying to sell something in your giving all of your personal and proprietary information. To look it's not like it's a public utility folks it's a privately there is income while publicly traded but it's a company it's a for profit business. Now Amazon still does have. The the bulk of this market right now Amazon owns about 42% of the cloud computing market right. They're growing about 45% a year Microsoft's cloud business is up 94% year over year. Google's is more than doubling their smaller pieces though what you might start in it seems like you might be seeing. Some retail companies pushing back and saying look we don't want Amazon to eat lunch so let's look in a different direction so we don't put ourselves behind the eight ball. It's it's too bad and other companies didn't realise this earlier via but it seems like some of these horror stories out there. Are kind of waking up other companies what's going home. Well Samsung continues it than the Microsoft in the rules as long as they put in the right protections for their customers might see their businesses continue to grow as fast bats at Microsoft the number two is less than a third the size of Amazon's web services right now. We've seen over valued purse saved by. The fact that there continues to be is eating its war. I'd pack back I repeat earlier this week about how it seemed odd that on you know the game in the market. It ain't got companies like. Based in that lake. And I'm holding up relatively well in some respects it's as if the market is treating them as the he hated because of their market dominant position that it in from Microsoft. In that category as well that you know let's be honest here these are still cyclical companies with higher valuations that not century's involvement in with that. Coke and Pepsi in the utilities for the world that have steady sluggish growth but at these big dividend. You know Microsoft obviously is that they need to advocate it there but you know a lot of big tax there are not what I consider classic out. And he wants companies to stop investing in infrastructure and our nation and spend more on their employees see it actually happens well and in. And we know the companies have to we've seen this in the construction industry where you're starting to see an uptick by the way beyond the latest jobs report construction numbers were. Outstanding the last two months 21000 construction jobs added in April additional 25000. In May soon two very strong months for construction. Also seeing some good numbers. In manufacturing. For those months is well 250181000. Jobs created. In each of those months. As well let's take a quick look at markets as we head towards the top of the hour.
