And stay informed and up today about economic and market trends plus get breaking business news every day. And now the financial exchange with the Barry Armstrong and chuck Exxon. One way or the other oil prices are gonna move this afternoon around 2 PM why while the president is going to announce. His decision as it relates to Iran's oil prices on the move this afternoon at 2 PM. NAFTA talks are under way you have to ask yourself why would the United States be insisting. That we Jews the increase of Mexican workers and and third topic will be. New federal requirements will put calorie count requirements on menus next week I everybody's Berry and John Maloney here. On eight Tuesday and son of a gun this oil story I blind really intriguing I mean. Oil rallied to seventy dollars and but everybody knew that Donald Trump was gonna pull out of Iran and that's where the that's right rally this every dollar is powerful but did they'd like. That action in a surprise to anybody was. You know. It's Huckabee is surprised that happens today. It's it's a question and it John Bolton in there I mean. EL we'll think about this would would president trump Colin news conferences say I called you all here to tell you. John Kerry and Barack Obama are geniuses. And I just wanna say what they did. I stand fully behind and I called you all here to tell you that I think that's gonna happen. Don't forget this is basically baked McKay he's gonna pull on the ran nukes deal. Which is why oil prices have come up. And why when he announces this which everybody already knows in oil prices may as they are right now drop because that's sort of factored into the market will that was my question they IS no less than six people today with. Will happen. When he pulls out eat it does it depend on now Iran responds so he comes in and he says we're not going to be part of this Iran nuclear deal. We're going to reinstate sanctions. And it's not like he's declared war on. But what does that do to Iran's ability to produce oil as it does it. Does that impede their ability to pump. He would end the waiver on sanctions against Iran which is a factor in oil prices so. What's gonna happen here in and is also a couple of different ways this could play out one will be a hard break. With Regis say okay where out forget it. The other would create like a six month period where there would be some discussion and and the whole sanctions issue. Would be put on hold for a few months. So that's usually what he does this yeah I. I'd be very look at the terror the right hour we're imposing steel tariffs 25%. And aluminum and steel right now in the lord and if that were. What happens which I think is the likelihood I think he could keep the possibility that oil could drop even further with VEE sea floor. Yeah I. I think is seller of oil pretty that you would yes in fact I. What about energy stocks a game I'm actually I'm actually looking to sell some energy stocks pretty soon here yeah I think we've got a pretty good run. I think they're pretty fully valued. And I see a world where. You know prices have risen quite a bit to put it in perspective. We're up. 51 cents a gallon at the pump. Year over year that's a big increase it is a big trees in and people are complaining that they are complaining you'll get any social media. People are posting pictures of what their pain at the pump right and they should I mean this is a big increase to happen in the last year. But a lot of the move that we've had has been predicated on the global economy doing much better in which it has. Kinda the problem is recently the global economy has not performed quite up to standards there's indications that little bit to slow down in Europe a little bit about it. A great in the growth happening in in Asian and the United States numbers are are good but not greatness of the projections actually that strong yen and so on the demand side we're not seeing quite the demand we expected an outside a on the supply side. The US could be reaching eleven million barrels a day by the end of this year worst Opel which is good. Great news for us it's also great news for prices so. The question I less from our enemies in the in the question I would have is I agree with the 100%. You know if if growth is eat them. And if the world is just like at least not at war. We're I think that this market is looked as discounted much stronger growth Ian and problems Middle East. If we get any. Change in either one of those things I think we could see back down in the sixties and well they re re not that's why don't you say we beat the 60s but that 3 o'clock but let me make you feel a lot better ten years ago today. I I was looking to buying a big car and because exclusively. Of the cost of gas. Ten years ago. May right now almost to this day we bought a Honda Civic because we were scared to death and I had no desire to and it served you well it it it has but. That that actually changed behavior I know other people in the room he can always asked that ten years four dollars and ten cents a gallon ten years ago may of 2008. What were you driving before you buy exit. You remember. That. Actually is driving a sports car but it's a long story but the bottom line is what we're paying 31%. Less today. Today than we did with the elevated prices correct them we were ten years ago there's a compelling argument to be made in Egypt have oil trading at sixty or 65 dollars a barrel because. Then we are incentive to produce domestically rated yet if you last acts on. And you said to them hey we can guarantee you sixty dollars a barrel for the next twenty years. They pump a lot of oil in the US and as we said yesterday there's a sweet spot here that is good for the consumer. And good for our economy and also varies you're telling me I shouldn't like a dollar 99 again. I don't panic at the problem is it's not great for economy and also I would argue that. Very very low oil prices. Actually leads to global instability because a lot of countries that go at war with the each other that and maybe get us involved. I'd like to see them less mad and it two dollars and 65 cents a gallon we have jobs they make money. Endlessly 260 fives 270 the Pope is not a killer well I think about the people that live in the center of the country where a lot of the oil production comes from thing about the people of western Canada. Where a lot of the Canadian oil production comes from eight they want they need seventy bucks they need eighty bucks. In order to keep their ship afloat it's a seventy elegant it it did was we said yesterday. We don't want this to be the road the nets to 110 right but stopping or so in the low seventies might not be the worst thing in the world. NAFTA talks are ongoing and I think there will be a deal made as a relates to NAFTA but the United States is insisting. That Mexican auto workers BP sixteen dollars per hour. Absolutely I would be in obviously witnesses I saw that headline said to myself what are they making now because I didn't know the answer that. Mexican auto workers are working for eight dollars and now if there on a Ford assembly line in there in parts assembly. Position to make in fort. And that's something that is unbelievable and show you something about the cost of living in Mexico it does do that no question about that but what we're trying to do was a row that labor cost advantage. And obviously bring back US jobs leveling the playing field that's the strategy here. Were actually getting some support surprisingly from US auto makers who understand I think the politics involved here which is which is good. The other reason I mean they built their plants. On bottles that said they're gonna pay eight dollars and stroke but I guess I remember not long ago when General Motors is paying sixty to seventy to eighty dollars an hour. To build vehicles now anymore so if you're like OK got to pay sixteen instead of eight I know that's a lot I know percentage wise that's a lot but boy it's a lot. More advantageous for them and back in the old days you think it brings Diop back at sixteen does that bring those jobs back the US. I the problem is we're still way above. So our numbers of them died last time I checked I think a lot of these jobs were in the forty to fifty to sixty dollars race here go lower than that if your entry level and trailer yet or four year they will need year fifteen to eighteen bucks an hour welding to see jobs come back if that's the computer compares to no doubt about that who basically that. The rework of mapped them has the US calling for 40% of the content of any chord the trees duty free with in North America and mosque come from workers who earned a particular wage levels so. It's setting a standard really across the board here. That that all of all the countries in North America must abide by now. Tucker you go to Starbucks pretty regular. Checkup times a week if that's the Judy when you order food do you ever order fruity just to share yet Lotte Berk sort of get do the have they always had the calorie count when you won an order in what would you order from. That's for yeah I mean there's there is yes there is it Keller Koppel on the menu and on the mobile app. Which is very helpful and I use that way in my food so there's you know sausage egg and cheese. I think average of 500 calories for a Turkey bacon sandwich with the nagged. Already 270. Dollars so I usually go that choice but it's very clear to us with the calorie count is and it gives you like fat content into and that influences your buying so yes tell you John. It definitely does in fact do it it brought to my attention look at it two or three items that I like equally. In I had no idea like item number two was 400 calories less than I am number one so yeah it actual drug behavior he does yet detector Beatrice next week. The whole country would poll next week. Every restaurant has to have the calorie count every restaurant really you know they and its it it starts. You talking about like your north and restaurant to I think so I've pretty much everybody has a menu has to do really knows how much calories are we want to warn people though. That already the people who play in this game are gaming it now get a couple of examples one is. They're did that they're describing their menu in ways that are calorie friendly an example an example of that lately. You like assemblage of and it I ordered because it's that it only has 300 dollars and they list with Al the dressing. Well you know yeah the dressing is like where all the calories our ability to Dallas as though I have no galleries and central and just a quick example I was at the airport on Sunday night. I was looking at a menu analysts I'm between a blt salad and even in on land of kind of a weekend -- thing about salad salad like 500 more calories than the blt. Was like once. Imagine if that didn't have a teller counter doorstep of the salad and gotten fatter pearl with no question about an hour and I'm just start to think now how creatively together gonna have. Wheeler McDonald's and a half of burgers. Without a blown. I mean yeah he skewing ones there in the we with the studies show is that. It and I guess there's no surprise this educated consumers use the calorie out. Uneducated consumers. Are shopping. At you know fast food restaurants. Could either don't care. Or at the table right by donors I'm not sure what happens then that there the everything they study John says Alia that the Starbucks consumer. Will use the calorie count in the McDonald's consumer won't use the calorie count I'm not sure that's accurate in and what I like is. I I think you'll see we we have a terrible obesity problem in the country and we have to do look around and you'll see it. But I I think this will help maybe it anybody who can read I think this is gonna benefit. Obesity rates are lower I've noticed in in well educated states. Regardless of climate produce are willing to win when you pick it up or Vista well you know Massachusetts has one of the lower obesity rates in the country. Places like Mississippi which has a great climate that you could go up twelve months of the year and exercise has a horrible obesity rate and I think is directly. Related to education well there's another reason we'll talk about that few minutes but our poll question today is busy calorie counter. On menus make you eat healthier and we just did an internal survey here at the financial exchange all three of us have said. That yes they did it does it. Absolutely influences my became the first place I ever noticed it. Was at 99 you're gonna 99 rest a fair I love that place. And they had their house like this is years ago did this this was. Data on the first around here 510 years ago and I said boy I really like that feature because it eyeballs to leak influence my behavior but. I wanted to know whether the audience it does Indian affect your behavior our text number 63566. To offer you get to use my first name if you're new to the show. And our website we can participate in the poll is financial exchange showed dot com does a calorie counter on a menu. Make you eat healthier the three of us claim. That it does I would depend era and there were two I believe Turkey sandwiches that I like equally I didn't ever preference. One of whom was 650 calories on the other 11100. Exam like. It's easy for you that was like a no browser price difference Thursday it pretty Christ may be fifty cents but I mean honestly it was 61 half dozen the other and I had no preference I like both equally. That one information about the calorie which I never knew it and totally drove my decision. When we come back we're gonna talk about some states where do you BC the problem is. Out of sight and we'll explain why it's out of sight that's next on the financial extra. Have a question for Berrian junk. Now you can text us at 63566. You know one it's time consuming to open the small enough security upon numbers sons now. And yet to go into the bridge yes signed paperwork and their small dollars and in the turn. You have to give them ten in certain forms when they open up the count and you have to pay interest and you. And we should do all this canal through Z deposit all of that you can do Thursday deposit it literally takes about forty seconds to open up an account. We handled the automatic form tendered generated the account number department condition statement all that sent the tenant. And the interest descent to the tenant. Automatically every year. Are many people count cards. And not calories. Genetic. Yeah and you don't you don't wanna like focus on one number the stakes spectacle cholesterol and urban by November low cholesterol number that means. A money you know never of a heart problem you know it's one important one factor B does want to be only one. Our poll question seventy point 5% of you like the fact that the restaurants are gonna have a calorie counter and you can vote on our poll. By going to financial exchange showed dot com. John earlier you were talking and demeaning factors fashion as it relates to Mississippi in their level of BC but 37%. Of adults in Mississippi are in fact obese. And that's a problem and another problem they have is a lot of people in Mississippi and elsewhere. Mike you shouldn't bury a trick surgery what is. It's where they didn't hole staple when they kind of literally take it you know obviously it works yeah it works dangers and yeah I kind of risky Chara Charlie Weis coach of the pregame news guy dad almost died yes you're right. But but it was very fact be survived yeah and you know is a lot that are right now but let it affect. Her but I. We'll look at Charlotte sums up my calorie count the menus. Mississippi goes one of two states along with Montana. That doesn't cover Barry after surgery in the Medicaid program. Which served 760000. People a lot of hope on the care policies. Won't cover burial after surgery peers and the problem with. You know maybe that's problematic because. You if you have somebody who's obese that wants to get the Barea after surgery rated in and it's uncomfortable in your YouTube. Literally can't eat. As much right B year your ability young ages is diminished. If you're. If it it's more effective. Van odd diet and exercise for people who were 100 pounds overweight especially if they have other medical problems like diabetes to put it starkly. The surgery. Cuts obese people's risk of Dale's death in. Yeah I I was shocked. Two issues and I agree I I think it should be covered. But leg a couple of arguments against a guy number one you know Medicaid is we're paying for Medicare. Right we it's it's our bill it's collectively what we're opening four. A popular Teva Berry after surgery typically cost between 20000. And 35000. Dollars tax expense OK again I'm not saying it's wrong who's saying there is a cost. On top of that. This is my own anecdotal fond of their reactor at first. It was I think exclusively a medicinal thing that you did you have to do it because all of else failed. I feel like it's become something that people who don't necessarily need it are doing it. And I think a lot of people who may be a good diet in May be some cholesterol medication. Maybe a little more exercise. They might be able to do without going to bury actor and I just have a feeling that at the margin we're seeing an increase in that population interest. There's a calorie counter on the menu make you eat healthier that is our poll question of the day you can text us at six. We come back we'll be talking about panera. Time now for mostly watch a look at the market's performance so far today but I don't Berrian jug right here on the financial exchange radio network. Time for Wall Street watch we have Mike Armstrong and Mike joins us now well on a kind of a messy day little mixed day on Wall Street Mikey got. Zillow and sea world how SeaWorld swimming today. So we keep world. Just reported earnings and out fairly good quarter from a company that has really struggled since I report team and they started trading. And stock spin too much cut in half their peak back in 2014 but nonetheless solid quarter they've lost. Less than expected about five cents last and there are two state solution the order they're revenue beat forecasts and the attendance increased by 14% compared to a year earlier. So on that news stock is up little bit overtime and a half percent so do it dollars apiece. Zillow. And besides affecting just at my house is gone down value last month which really made me mad. I did that at my own as I'm not selling uses you know it's a mind could it. Record deal I joke at Jim Cramer describes the low as real estate porn. It. It's I don't know I don't know I don't look at what was clever perspectives and Zola I look how zillow doing. Any further pretty good quarter actually days they are seven cents a share which beat estimates the app revenue was slightly above forecasts as well. They're guidance however was below forecasts that they also announced that their vehicle capping those be stepping down by the end of may. So good quarterback port guidance and now on that news the stock treating a little bit choppy used down. As much as 5% is now currently flat on the day so it's been that move and all over the place sport like the stock market and it. Little bit yes so right now as we sit. Dow is down about 23 points a little bit under 110 of 1% and yes he about the same as a pretty much flat today but trading all around this week to the Talbot for. Waiting to the Irish and announcements that markets are a little bit here it's too where that's going to yeah. Kind of on hold until that aren't Mike Armstrong Wall Street watch thank you very much thank you okay so totally gonna show you Sperry to take a look at this appraisal here yes I. 978. Writes Gerri what I wanna see is an overhaul of our education system in America to get rid of home act classes. And make them food and nutrition classes and make it mandatory class great idea and I suggest I wrote back to 97%. How about. Including a personal finance class. I just gonna say that would be perfect then you're dealing with two issues that everybody needs to know that would help their life. In every way made a run for president I'll I guess I was born here so I'll. Otherwise that's worth I'd be all know amend the constitution first then we'll get you to run and that's it that's a great plan. And then 617 writes Berry that's why Weight Watchers uses a points system which is a culmination of calories fat etc. were ideal Weight Watchers works for a lot of people what what are my coworkers. Has tried all kinds of different programs. Joe's goes back to we like to be you know the problems so you stop eating it. Gain weight yup but the good news is it. He detector makes a great point that Weight Watchers does address more than just simply one calorie count and it's it's a whole picture perspective that's that's great. 72% or audience likes the calorie count on the minions but surprised that they Adobe hired me honest I thought it would give I think the other 28% the same government should get out of our business not tell us yes it's that's my libertarian ports world that they're saying that in you know I'm sure they think it's a good thing with excellent idea of the government force that's true. That's true. Panera Bread. They're expanding their delivery service in what makes there're delivery service a little unique is that they're doing it themselves yet and it's all as I am assuming. It's all lunch hours straight what I would office lunch does that I would think so and it's a great idea because they said Nader is the office once thing makes a lot of sense they make charted in ball instantly start in Boston now. As a pilot in the area around Fenway Park a six years ago so this was a real trial and error place for them. They found out it worked. End up part of it's it's really part of the permit or its pushing into things like apps kiosks. And other digital technology the kiosk is perfect since the big 25% of their business from there. Which is fantastic and the when they implement the delivery. They pick up an extra 5007. To 500 a week in sales and the other thing these companies have learned is the people who use these technologies spend more than the people who don't we don't identify a higher income richer it's a law office yet it's a hospital staff that's as well take it out here we have to work through lunch let's order some open air right. And and not how the price is you know annual care about the three dollar delivery fee you just want. Food delivered his it's raining out you can't get. And on top of that it's people who were tech savvy even Wal-Mart has found that people use the Wal-Mart ad spend like 50% more than those who doubt that tells you people were packed friendly more educated have won it spent. You know this kind of downside of having a a really upscale restaurant in an upscale neighborhood is you always have to be cutting edge you always have to offer the very best the newest latest most up to date now the probably years they've been around fifteen years. In it's an old little fifteen years in that business is an older location. The meeting a large capital investment just to renovated and keep it up to the standard they wanna be image that we you know we already out of place in Wellesley used to wood great what does it they're opening in Wellesley in about three weeks in a little blue ginger. And that's an inch state that's a different type of platelets a very small space it's not a it's not a big right I thought it was already run its not know I drove by the of the day. I don't know how to do blue ginger you know do you remember I mean side Alia I injured it it was nationally famous again as internationally famous. And and I never liked the place because I go again I go there and then I'd have to go home and have been if I never enough to eat. I I think their game plan is let's be where people work and let's be where people live so I think it wasn't the Celtics let's go to where people live right next to Dover Sally. Now just leave it at it and it it of Wellesley is a very affluent town but. The the whole. Upper and steak house I mean it at least. A hundred bucks ahead right go to the right I I I find myself. I don't like them because I usually and pick up the game tax cut back and and it's with the you know the kids wanna go yeah. And it's so overpriced. I can make you better stay at home while I date yet I mean look it's a Italian by definition and it's expensive by definition but they're focusing on what is the new Wellesley location. And the other Boston location which is overlooking four point channels so bright they already have a place in Boston I've been to that one. I wonder if they thought maybe they are kind of cannibalizing the wrong business took as a mean you know I'm very specialized audience you know a hundred bucks a head to think differently between. Ruth's Chris coarseness and Woolen ski or capital growth and business aviation division victory they're all really good you're right it that there are holes. Like. Well as long as one of them doesn't drop the price. Somebody else's pain and Greta I think that that's that that's that's my attitude a lot of you know nearly ought to buy me dinner I don't think the best job in the world would be be being a waiter waitress at a place that because. You know when you start looking at fifteen to 20%. Tip on both kind of built of those six figure waiters yet if your server. And then I add you know what any one of those three. Your personal you're very good what are you doing four times the work of someone serving 25 dollar meals no no it's it's just that you have communication skills. You relate to people well. And your make an underground a year yeah be it and sometimes substantially more expensive here in new Yorker and eight of those guys in Boston. 12160. I've never talked to Steve to flip obvious on his guys in there are sixty do well. Bartenders. Waiters waitresses and a that they all have a story of one night when they walked out there with an unbelievable. Amount of money and you know I heard one of the Red Sox guys took the team out to eat had like 8005. It was a Ramirez. Yeah team had 8500. Dollar bill. 1520 version of Islam. It's a good that's a good night. Three and a half billion dollars to boost the Green Line with new and longer trolley cars mean Boston. I'd just my opinion here and I don't drive in every day. But I'll tell you what your son loose in the city my daughter and there is in full disclosure he works for the T. Otis yeah so I I can't beat up on and it can be I hopped on so I actually think this is one of the smartest ideas effort the tee in a long time I just always summons text of its you know you have a lot of wacky expense of ideas. You like this this is fair to put his. You're dealing with boosting the Green Line and anybody takes the rapid take transit Boston knows the Green Line is so. Under the capacity is nowhere near where they need to meet their these these trolleys are packed around the clock. And this would boost their capacity by a 100%. In what would do is you'd give you new longer trolley cars. At a cost of three at 3.5 billion dollars over believe it's ten years. But 200000. People a day take the Green Line in more would take it if it didn't suck. Absolutely right that if the just it would be. More eat it if it was better. People would use it more in this is the most inefficient worst experience on the entirety in my opinion on the Green Line. So but again the considering a number of improvements that would overcome longstanding obstacles is here's the other prob Barry the reason why this hasn't happened. They have short loading platforms which of your problem for these much larger. Trolleys they a lot of renovation work to do there's tight turns at some location take those out which got a problem. But if the right improvements are made the team will be able to by a 164. The 65 or more trolleys over the next decade. That are forty feet longer and hold twice as many people. Doubt that would be a game changer and I really think he would be in the best interest of Boston and more people take public transportation. Than any other way to get around so fortunate to hold the biggest lobbying effort against this effort will be. Who card yeah yeah you look historically. Car dealerships. Kill public transportation projects. I think though we're gonna have more and more areas of you have to where cars are not even allow UK it's it's. It's untenable for those who are drivers who objected of course primates that affect the matter is try driving around Boston it just happens to be raining. Peppered its nose yup you it's it's a nightmare in and much of that is due to people driving around try to find a parking space that's actually a large part of the problem so. This would help a lot this would double the capacity in the Green Line up above two kids go to WDC. But the Roth conversions a little bit of a mystery for some folks are Mike what are we talking about when we talk about. Roth IRA conversion yes so unlike the traditional for a one K or IRA where you receive a tax deduction for putting money into an IRA. The Roth IRA you put regular dollars in you don't receive induction but any of the growth is completely tax free number of advantages there there's no required and distribution and can be uses they're really good source of tax free income later in retirement. When you convert in higher to a Roth IRA which are doing is you're taking money out of that traditional account. Putting it into the rock paying the taxes up front. In order should never pay the taxes on the growth down there. So this is a case where you actually voluntarily decide to pay the tax usually with the idea that you're going to be in a lower tax Prater rather rather a higher tax rate later on. And so this gives the ability to not pay taxes diary later. Absolutely correct so oftentimes people do it in a year which there and lower tax bracket intentionally. But you got to be very careful about when you do it. Folks Roth conversions they can be a little bit Dicey just trying to navigate the different tax brackets and so forth. And so are strong advisory group has put together. A great free guide to give you all the info you need on raw diary conversions. It's available right now at our strong advisory dot com. This is the financial exchange with the very Armstrong and chunks of you're exclusive look at business and financial news affecting your day your city your world. Stay informed and up today about economic and market trends plus get breaking business news every day. And now the financial exchange with the Berry Armstrong. And sharks done us. You know the number of BP people collecting Social Security is reaching a record I would talk about it has it reached the tipping point. Then we're gonna dig into the Comcast story they're trying to by fox and I'm not sure they can afford it and then finally. Third story on the agenda today is imagine this job. You get a notice from the company. From which you've been retired for ten years. And they say yeah we can't afford to pay your pension and well it's happening. And we're gonna talk about eighteen stir who suffered 829%. Reduction in his monthly pension. Hi everybody it's Berry and John Mooney with you here. It is eight Tuesday. And Social Security beneficiaries top 62 million people in the United States every time we turn around that number goes up in the reason for that is 101000. Boomers celebrate their 65 birthday every day so today. 101000 people right now have a birthday is going to be anything left for us where the same age. Yeah I'm doing your little half of what the actually he's a lot. A considerably older and I. But anyway in a few years I'll be having an effort they party too right now 101000 people turn 65. Every single day. Now put this perspective that 62 million talked about. There's a 127 million full time workers in the United States. There are so that means with 62 million receiving Social Security benefits. There's 2.0 five people working. For every person receiving. Those numbers don't add up real well and this year. The number of the amount of money coming in from people actually working. Is going to be less than what we're paying out we knew this was coming. Okay that's where we had a big his chipping it's a tipping point we have joke you know we can't sustain this. I we deal with this and we talked you know chuck and I and you we've talked about this ad nauseam I mean we're probably looking at. Extending the retirement date for the next generation. We're probably I heard numbers this morning. From the knee guy. And they're saying 67 so bumping it up another two years never win may be used during the Reagan or Clinton bumped in two years. We're from 6567. Via again faced him on the 66 and eight months yet I think will happen now is the next generation Leo okay. The youngest of the more meals will be able to receive its 67. And the with the over throw the money is received 67 and then down to you know 669 or even seventy and in in defense of why that makes sense. Which security was created. The average life expectancy was actually 66. And they civil since the average life expectancy is 66. Let's help. Older people who need help in their final months pass something that'll be there and they won't die in poverty so. I think standing at over time. Phased in up to sixty or seventy. Mimicked once since I heard that as a potential solution raising taxes big problems. You can fix Social Security at the relatively easy fix to fix it attic. No answers. I know the answer I just like it's changing the system it's it's increased. Eighteen PL ETV. Yet EST can take some back and the system. Like I I haven't heard any solutions as a relates to Medicare. With that does not involve dramatic increase in the Medicare tax yet the numbers just don't add up in when I say changing the system. It's two things number one it's not reveal even come close to paying for itself. Secondly the cost of the procedures that are covered keep going higher and higher and higher. In everybody wants to be told they they can get whatever they want whenever they want in terms of in terms of procedures story of poor care or poor care yes and you know we hear talk yesterday that we may be a lot closer to single Payer health care with. Warts and all that. Out of necessity I've been there island. Yeah Kenner we had a three years. And when it what you end up with in all likelihood is is a two tiered system a basic system it's like public education for wrong and then and a tribal system it's like your private education and you can opt out of that you get a benefit and everybody else will be in the same pool. And unfortunately I think that ran. And Comcast afford to buy box there in this bidding war Disney's trying to buy fox is some of the fox assets were. Right now Comcast making good bid that. If you look at the stock. It's a they they're in trouble they they're they're cable right I mean I like Ike I don't know that I was would you buy Comcast stock action of looking at our. My radar screen I don't own it I don't all right now but I I'm close to buying it if it goes a little bit lower because they actually do. Make a lot of money. I mean they they generate a ton of free cash in they do own other things they own NBC universal they only of the Philadelphia Flyers and 76 and sports. Pretty good diversified portfolio. They'll fire the anemic applies now in but. Does that you can't win everything that they're they're they're fairly well the first orbiting become even more diversified because. That plug in to go home. Would they be allowed to by fox that's the 64000 dollar question here this deal is probably even Comcast is admitting. They probably wouldn't even pursue this unless. The Justice Department gives the go ahead. On the pending AT&T Time Warner deal you say why would be in close. If the government shoots down the AT&T Time Warner deal which frankly doesn't have all of them much overlap. That tells me that the regulatory environment here is hostile towards any kind of deals like this that we're gonna protect the consumer by simply. Keeping you from getting to be is really the argument against pieces. We just want we want companies to do it. That really is the argument against it. But fox has agreed to sell 21 century fox assets people out there don't be confused because this is not include like. Faux news and other aspects the fox owns. 52 billion dollar price tag the answer your question as to whether Comcast and afforded the answer is he's OK can say the board we've got the money line up wild. They've been lining up money that. They've been meeting with you know Goldman Sachs and every housing you know how much were you would just would you lend us so they must have a good business plan Goldman lend them money. And look they're highly profitable company if tremendous assets to back it up I'm sure they have a business plan work but. You know we're really seeing a major consolidation. In media and entertainment and in distribution. And we're in a world that we have to all be able. Well we'll see what happens. Imagine this you've worked for a company UPS is the company in your teamster. And you're participating. In a multi employer pension plan and there are a lot of these plants throughout the country John you. And what's happening is these plants and we talked about this five years ago I warned people this is coming it's it's it's starting to hit the fan well. It did hit the fan. You have a a gentleman by the name of Harry ban all Stein from New York. And he were he worked as a teamster for UPS. And he worked thirty years as a truck driver or UPS. And he was promised a 5141. Dollar per month pension. By the New York State Teamsters conference pension and retirement fund. And he retired in 2006. He just got a letter saying that his pension has been cut by 29%. Because again when you have pension like that a private pension it sounds kind of government it's but it's not. That's a private pension if we knew of a private pension. That pension is only as good as the private entity that you entered into an agreement with the and look I love defined benefit plans beat I wish I had we we all wish we had one. But the downside of the defined benefit is trust if they got jacked that benefit doesn't come through you get nothing or rigged it reduction. My estimates are nag I haven't researched it recently when I did John. They were more than 400000. Retirees guys like Harry you know who are gonna suffer from pension reductions I've got a couple clients while that are covered by these plans. In the country now the older you are on the less of late cut you'll have to take. This fell Harry got hit because use 55 or so when he retired right he's only in his sixties now so the logic is what he can go back to work. But the I've got a client is in his seventies. I don't know that he'll get any cut in his pension yet and tough to go it's tough to gentle guy who's 78 we got to go back to work right in any other thing is in fairness the people who were younger than that. Likely art in defined benefit plans. So they're probably in you know 41 K plans because they're the largely phased out but it's a girl funeral blue collar workers very sad and and union members yet right. And a lot of them probably wanna be in the union in the first place and remember the union it's taken anywhere from. Two to four hours a month yup and your paycheck and that your union dues exactly and there there the union is supposed to make sure that your pension is solvent. I agree I did pretty upset because I met senior teamster yet and you paid your loyal. Card carrying teamster. And in you've been paying your dues and supporting the union for thirty years yup. And then east and it's not exactly some little fly by night operation regulars the users right if if they said this is my benefit. I can take that to the bank was all black people turn on unions if they get this YEE talked to a lot of guys out there Whittier cop teacher teamster. People don't like the unions that they're forced to join. Well that's that's a raw deal no doubt about that but a warning to again that those pension if you if you're involved in a pension. And you have to understand that that pension is only as good as the people who were promising. You wanna see a talker you'd be scared. All of a bullet Tucker never gets here he's going to be in the next I don't like snakes I'm gonna have him petrified. And we're also going to be doing trivia today trivia today is a Starbucks is our topic is an entire yes the we're so. If you know a lot about Starbucks. That's what the number of projected it is the numbers there at their projected increase at a much smaller rate but the problem is. Even a much smaller rate that you are very very large number today. The average cost of a four year private private college education is a 167000. Dollars. Actually strikes me kind of well yeah I was just saying where around here I think though number would be higher and again that's just educational and that's not including any meals including any housing. I don't think that's even including any books that I've pretty much your tuition bill. Four years 167000. But how do you how should you all your real estate Todd if you're real estate is in a nominee realty trust. Is that going to be protected from the nursing home in also will it avoid probate when you die. Doubt most miss understood. Trust I think in the trust world it's not even a trust the phenomenon the relationship nominee realizes trust I know but it's not. What I mean by that is. When you put your property into a nominee realty trust folks please go look at who the schedule beneficiaries are that you listed to separate piece of paper attached if it's the children and you gave way to the children beauty but don't anymore you don't realize you gave it away because it takes effect immediately not your death what's the difference. And many people think that that doesn't take effect till your death. More importantly if it's. If it was like my wife and I and then the schedule beneficiaries as my wife and yeah well that we didn't know one thing that went right back in my name and my wife's name sorties are lighting and point it would even aboard probing so why is it being done so because lots of times people might go to maybe real estate attorney and anything can help the trust in the throat in a realty trust. We used realty trust it's just important that the schedule beneficiaries. Is another state planning trust revolt cobol or read her mural correct they're not a person not your kids not yourself. Please look that up if you've got one of these you know it sounds pretty basic how should you'll your real state but he gets complex as you get older call Cushing handle and and receive their brand new guide. Fina elf. As a major player really I think in bringing health care into the online Europe then I mean they really are the forefront of this and they do a heck of a job. Elliott management owns eight point 9% of their of of of -- health or race of their big player and it. And they think the company should be doing more to expand much more rapidly and honestly I think they have a case to be made because. The hell really has been fantastic. At. Taking the experience. Of health care on line. And I'm surprised it hasn't been adapted quicker I would think everybody would be using and it's been slow to catch on Elliott management thinks they can do a better job. At getting if the health all over the country now they're if it's trading at a 150 dollars what's the 160. Eight it's. You once exactly once sixty this year which was a 27%. Premium. Much of that premium has been beaten up it was our home when this was announced it's up again today so. That tells me that they think it deals can be done the thing that means there's a ten dollar. We have that he bought it today right if you're convinced that it's been going to make ten bucks each time value of money arbitrage. The risk you have to deal doesn't get done be really careful doing some like that because yet if you're brightest thing about couple other companies PetSmart did this yep BJ's did dismembered BJ's one product correct and it right now it's looking like a really good that if if it's up 250 dollars that tells you want two things. Either a that he is a really good chance to go private at a 160 dollars or perhaps negotiated a little bit higher. Wore the thing is. They imply what are the some other health care companies say why you know would that be nice to fold a Fina health into our operation. And envoy is not a huge companies to six billion dollar company yet so a large player in health care might society. While we just put them under under our wings any concerns about Jeff in malts involvement. He's chairman of the yes maybe you'll have the female health logo in the celtics' uniforms next year. Their starter houses and you have them opted to skip a starter don't know an aunt and here's the caveat here I think this is based. We true for much of the country except New England. But there's a factor here and to win one that's worth worth noting that what's happening is because a lot of colonials or delaying the age of which they. By their first home. Get married they certainly down yet it's move from like the mid twenties to the mid thirties so in much of the country where housing is a lot more affordable. A lot of kids who would be normally buying that. You know 160000. Dollar entry level home from. Are either still living at. At home to help pay their debt back from college. Or they're renting in a city in an urban environment because they wanna be close to work and they like though that urban lifestyle. That person is now 32 years old and in making. Above middle income money in isn't interest in the one or 60000 dollar home. There is in the 280000 dollar home which outside an old England. Get to a pretty nice home or back on entry level as Jerry Kansas if you're an Idaho here in Iowa that you're gonna get nice out when I lived in Kansas everybody upon graduation bought a new home Eric yet I mean it was a 1121000. Dollars. And it was your starter house that was restarted house right and then you work your way up we hit 3032. Then you moved up to the next level and what's happened dues. Because the whole process of settling down. Has been moved forward moved up. A lot of these kids are going for the just skipping the whole entry level home right its move up what's happened here. And I think Tucker can relate to this is you do of the phenomenon of key of kids returning. Home to stay with the parents to help pay down their debt and save up the down payment. But because housing so affordable. They're not moving beyond the entry level at age. Thirty there having to buy an entry level here which is as much as a move up house would be in the midwest and does does that make sense Decker and sent any better. You really got. And you know if if if Tucker was living in Kansas City death I can afford relies totally you know be happening we'd be hanging out with you with your parish to save for down payment to buy up more expensive home. At age 31 out of where government but we are we're suffering from brain injury in New England because people young people. Are saying to heck with it. It just the heck with it I'm not gonna stick around and a doctor and even though making 200000 bucks a year can afford to live well in New England. And in a move my practice to South Carolina wrote in a joint practice in Kansas your scene people young people young Smart people. Core mobile regularly if you're if you're young and Smart you've got a technical background if you're an. 22 years you say. Where'd everybody go let's additional population growth here look at the population growth of all six New England states it's stagnant it's in I'm talking 2030 years back. We've grown into your point look at Arizona ya get look at Portland to South Carolina. It go to Texas in the population growth that's occurring there meanwhile we keep getting these housing numbers were scratch their heads trying to figure out what's going on now part of it is this dislocation. Caused by the evaporation of the entry level market. Is it housing the entry level market is the most important market because it then forces that entry level owner to move up. And to move ahead that's why realtors slow first time homebuyers who gets the plot deals online yet right the you get that first time home buyer they get to sell that first time home buyer house for 45600 pound a box. But then the person itself passing insulin elected they get paid twice and that process is disrupted by the fact that we've taken away that entry level market is expensive places to live. It an album markets we've taken to wait because kids of stay at home and they start the process later and skipped the entry level portion. When was the last time Americans were this optimistic. About the real estate market will have the answer to that question when we return to the financial exchange. We have breaking news as it relates to Iran. And New York Times reporting again no surprise here all sanctions against Iran. We'll be reinstated. The US is. As expected withdrawing from the Iran deal and as we mentioned yesterday and today. This is this is well known by the markets and they say sell on the news. Oil was down a dollar thirty barrel again to 55 now it's quality and why it explained that lately what's the mindset. OK if the sanctions there are coming back. Because is the president is unhappy with the deal it's selling the news you know who we we've we've wondered when the market was tanking in the stocks have been going down 10% three weeks with the economy booming. The answer is because the preceding several months the stock market took off in anticipation of the economy would be moving in the spring and it was in guess what you sell the illusion by the retailer to sell the news. Everybody knew this was happening we've known about international tension. We know about the situation with the Iran. The rumor was bought it when it does happen they sold where we go from here his whole separate thing with this this event has been discounted by the market. A majority of US adults 64%. Folks continue to believe home prices in the air local area. Will increase over the next year this according to a survey is released yesterday by gal. And you makes people think prices are gonna go up. Effective gonna. You don't make people think prices do go to our reverend 2009 they're Arab. Real estate it's gonna be practically given away within four years of it will buy a home for nothing because it's gonna. Well they say that because it went down in 2000 what's happening here is prices have gone up slowly but steadily for several years. And guess what Americans are used to back the prices go up so be careful as trends don't last forever they don't last forever. And and I'm a contrarian in many ways. But I do look at the real state market and I talked to contractors and talk to clients work in the trades. And what they'll tell me John is it fair labor shortages. There are input costs are skyrocketing. Cost of lumber. He talked to somebody national lumber take a look at home Depot's quarterly report you'd like you CDs input costs that are on the rise. And you try try hiring so make. It to build a new war to renovate a bathroom. First of all you may have difficulty finding somebody willing to do the job.
