Okay. This is the financial exchange with the very Armstrong and chunks are now. You're exclusive look at business and financial news affecting your day your city your world. Stay informed and up today about economic and market trends plus get breaking business news every day I can. And now the financial exchange with the Barry Armstrong and chuck son. Three big stories to begin today's show we're a start off with the north eastern that's hitting. New England or had a couple thousand flights canceled we'll talk about that and ADP jobs report this morning it was surprisingly strong. In Berkeley my worst fears came true last night those cocktail party. And I got an email saying that there Google had resigned as White House economic advisor. After losing his terror fight with the press hi everybody it's variant truck with you here. On Wednesday. And that's never good news when you 2000 flights canceled. Not certainly isn't in and buckle up on this one because I've been. I made. They're they're they're different. Your office mural there are trying to say they're different versions of Twitter that you can go one and one of them that I tend to partake in and follow pretty closely is what I call whether Twitter. Which is all of the the the weather geeks. And there's a whole bunch on the discount over blow every storm in and say oh and let's forget eat feed it's not the this one I I have a couple pretty good Twitter follows on this in one of them has been pretty much spot on just about every storm this year. And what he is guiding on this is that. We know we're gonna get precipitation across New England the question is is rain or snow. And his guidance on this has been expect colder because there is just this whole bit of cold air that's coming in from the midwest and he thinks it's going to hit earlier than people expect. And drive snowfall totals a little bit higher as opposed to adjust coming is green so. That is what I am sticking with and that's that's that's the horse that I pitched mine on my right to. Well and you know the problem is yeah a couple thousand flights canceled. Think about it the ripple effect is yeah they're still the airlines are still going to be catching up on Sunday yet to leave if its gonna take them probably until Sunday to get everybody where. Want to be yet you've already got a couple thousand and obviously you're gonna go higher than that is this thing continues to unfold and you know there about 40000 commercial flights inside the US every day season okayed you know 5%. Then on Sydney get a couple more so you know you're probably gonna have seven and a half to 10% of all flights in the US canceled. And as you said there's a spill over there were all of a sudden. Now your plane that was supposed to go to Jacksonville isn't theirs there after reroute a plane from Orlando to get over the you know it's knows those things happen in order. To put things back together and yet it's gonna be my guess is Sunday by the time. Airlines finally get done their planes where they need to be. Good news coming out of ADP this morning in Asia anticipation. Of the big jobs report coming this Friday. Good numbers from ADP 235000. Jobs created in February also be revision on the January number from 234 up to 44. In all ADP number eight. It tends to diverged somewhat from the that the government number to put it mildly and some bones but it it does also tend to act as a confirming force in a lot of cases here. And so I think you're gonna get a pretty strong number somewhere in that I'm guessing. To twentieth to 25 dollar for job creation on Friday but the big thing that people wanna see in that report coming out on Friday is going to be the wage that's right that's the one that that people are focused on. But I think that the headline number is gonna be pretty good as well. Is last night I gonna say it was I don't know 63530. When I got that that text message saying that cone had resigned. Is it economic advisor. To the president and there's a big loss in my estimation I thought today I think two of the key people in the administration in terms of economic policy statement Lucian yup and Gary called. Wilbur Ross's it is plays a significant role as well but Gary Coleman's departure that's a real that's a shot now. In all fairness. I think you know our were. Both of the mindset that he could leave once tax reform bill had been signed in the loss of may we got a couple of months more out of them then we. Thought we might have anyway. It it in obviously markets sold off futures sold off overnight and then we opened up in negative territory today on this news. What what I'm interested though you know obviously cones loss is a big one because I. I do think that cone is pretty close to the smartest guy in the room as far as. You know how he handled things over the last year. But what I'm interested in is. Who comes afterwards you know is a vote is what it did lot of chatter that Kudlow is going to be the guy a lot he's a chatter that Kudlow was going to be the guy. A a the end and I'll tell you though that the problem you have there is he's. Just like Gary Cole he's a free trade. He has I though. I I'm told that he is a closer relationship with the president personal relationship with the president in Gary Gary and and the president had some friction. If you were call dating back to last year yuppie either some bit of issues there it's a thing with Tillerson Tillerson was getting along with president. But now you have cold on the show shortlist and and you Peter Navarro if it's Peter Navarro to look out Peter. Well he's a nationalist and you know. Take a lot of people are concerned. I know you wore a year you're concerned about this nationalist policy. That is being espoused by Navarro and pen and the president. What I like to do. Is take a look at the states. That are going to be most negatively. Impacted by these 25% steel terrorists. Yeah I mean you you've got one that is Ian a New England out right these are top ten states that will be most threatened here in that state is Connecticut. And Connecticut right now. Has if the matches are in and just make turmoil in the right Tonya. There are a 107000. Employees in the state of Connecticut. Who are employed by industries. That consume a significant amount of steel and aluminum the bulk of them are at either. Electric boat. Or you know other defense contractors you've got Sikorsky with some facilities there and so forth. But so you look at that say okay what does this do to their business and I was I was talking with a failing member of miners in the construction industry this morning. And he sent me these numbers to season commercial construction and they are seen talking office. Yet that warehouses. They're working right now that they are budgeting and each story office building 90000 square feet and they're trying to budgeted at fifty million dollars. And what he said is that in the last three days since this happened. There budget for rebar has had to go up from one million to one point six million. Their budget for structural steel is going from five to six million. In the total cost of the building's gonna go up by about four to 5%. Which means that on the back in the office rents are going to be four to 5% higher in order to make the numbers work is it's gonna get. Pass through. In war or you could see them just say that the developer or they're going to say Roberts say we're not gonna loan the money. Well and we saw that before member at luxury apartment building Copley Square that yes he built yup. And he'd be just what happens here folks is he you know it developer comes in in their running the numbers and in trucks case years of fifty million dollar budget. Which sounds like a lot of money and it is a lot of it's gonna employ hundreds of men that they'll be working on the project but the developer might look at those numbers and say. Gee it's already a hot market we think the economy's gonna slow we're not gonna do that project in all the sudden those 300 jobs are gone. Yeah it it and that's the concern with this it's not that this is going to hurt the US steel industry because the ones that are actually producing the steel. You will see some jobs flowing in there there there is no doubt but the question is do you lose jobs in associated industries. That are greater than the number of jobs you gain and also what does it do from a pricing perspective how much inflation doesn't drive. It it and that's the real problem when you look at its the effect of the. That are in industries that use a lot of steel we need to understand hoaxes companies are gonna cut back it you have a 25% steel tariff. That's gonna slow things down and there are going to be less people working in that industry. Maine has 20965. Massachusetts has 80000. Workers. New Hampshire has 31000 workers. Rhode Island has 141000 workers Vermont has 9000 workers. But what you have to also look at here's he Iraq come back this struck because we talked about this on Monday. I think this is a lot of bluster on the part of the president. I think it's part of it is he's ticked off that Mercedes and BM WR. Opening plants in Mexico as opposed the United States. I think he's trying to get a better deal on the NAFTA negotiations. Because when you look at the states that are most severely. Impacted. Buying these terrorists Missouri well that's a red state. Is that they they get they suffered the most under this Louisiana. He doesn't get any more red than Louisiana. You know you run through the vast majority of the states that are going to be negatively impacted when we talk about this were talking about. Thousands of jobs lost. That's his core constituency. He can't afford to protect these people off. You certainly hope that's the case polling leaving. Suggests that that might not be the casino and until Colin left account is it OK maybe maybe that's you know where where we're going with this Conan leaving. Opens up the possibility that hey maybe these are actually going through. And it and you know just because if if you thought that it was just a negotiating tactic and all got to do is play along for a couple weeks OK finally you what's the big deal. Him leaving kind of suggests that hey this this might have some teeth to it. Lost in the question this is our poll question today. Do you think we are entering any trade wars those of you would like to participate. In that poll simply go to our website financial exchange showed dot com and don't forget you can text your. Input as well 6356. Sixes or text number chuck do you think we are entering trade. Yes. You do it did you vote yet adjusted. I'm gonna vote no so cancel cancel me out. I voted yes let Ed I just that I just don't think we're gonna turn to the trade war but he it died I just think this is. An effort on the part of the press I think he's ticked off about these companies opening a plant in Mexico. And I think he's got a real. Issue with the NAFTA negotiations and ID you know so that NAFTA. Items in that NAFTA treaty are not favorable the United States and and and I believe they need to be changed you know that any big. There's an easy solution to this if if he really wants to make US manufacturing more than pat. Can you devalue the dollars. Devalued dollar and fifteen to 20%. Gallery act I think you're gonna see I Stockton Mosul last night he said 10% and happen pretty death they and that's good for stocks if you do that it's good for stocks and good for manufacturing and unity in the that's that's probably the route that you take to be completely honest. And devalue the dollar is not that easy. You may get subtleties to flick a switch that that easy to do if you work with the Fed need to say look don't like as quickly as you think all of a sudden you know a 20% decline. Or brother 15% decline in the last year and a half now I think the other 1015% you can do like gotta just move press the red buttons. How do you feel about four dollar gas. You know not great obviously and that's the big thing is one of the. Things are steel tariff does it kills the American gas industry and B is just all the EU you can brag and Vermont is the driver crossed elderly or the out. It's gonna kill ya gonna get it's absolutely and it destroyed. The the American the American. Energy sector it just I looked at ransom numbers on the sport Rick talk about a laid down so. Any right to vote on our poll it's financial exchange showed dot com or Texas at 63566. Up next we're gonna talk about eight problem. That America past it has to do with shopping online. While inebriated that's next on financial exchange. Like us on FaceBook and follow us on Twitter packs TSE show. Designed for those of you who wore landlords in used to collector checks with paper checks are gosh maybe still do. Was he rent allows you to collect checks electronically. Well Americans have a little bit of problem while shopping while drunk but before go to that story. But it just two quick review of our poll question do you think we are entering into a trade war. 36% of you think we are. And 63%. Of you are voting would be saying no we're not entering into trade were the only thing that makes me a little nervous here truck outside. There's a lot of signs that were not entering into a tree you know if you watch the Talking Heads you talk to a guy like cut it to audiences negotiation tactic on the part of the president. The problem news. If we are aware of that well obviously the Canadians in the Chinese Japanese and Max also aware that. And that makes me feel like you know might stick to his guns and actually entry into a tree. That that's a scary thought maybe because that's how things go sideways you're. You you shoot one guy in the shoot two year guys and huge directory of their guys and also that he'll 500 your guys. My big thing is I look at what's happened in the last week and it in what big money is actually trading on. And if you look at what has happened from an inflation expectation in the last week. Breakevens of the highest they've been in the last five years now so it's what that is telling you it's a fancy way of saying. The traders who have a lot of money invested in this. Are are betting that something's coming out of it. Smartest guys that are we Gary is that and that's the assumption that there is the smartest guys in the room because they have the most money. Which indicate that they have the most money to lose in that they've got the most money to spend on research right the I think that's the theory behind smartest guys yes it is. Okay time for you two gentlemen to fess up I don't drink so it's not a problem for me but I can tell you. I've caught my wife on numerous occasions after we've come home for dinner she may have had a cocktail or two. Going online all of sudden in deciding to shop at Macy's or Amazon.com. While inebriated. Argued two gentlemen. Guilty of ever having done. I I went through a really bad phase of this about a year after I graduated from college where what finally caused me you know they talk but everyone hitting rock bottom youth he went through have his honoree had I I I hit rock bottom when all of a sudden one day a package shows up from Amazon and I have no idea what it is so I open it up. It's a book on the history of naval warfare. And and in I'm sitting there I'm going. The heck did this come from and sure enough I go through you know my emails and in everything and it turned out I had ordered it you know a couple days before but that was where I kind of said. This this this behavior needs to stop and so I've I've been I've been clean as far as drug shopping for the last probably 89 years body years now. Well average American spends 448. Dollars per year excellence and our asses. That's the Oscar in touch it yeah air America wants to know where Tucker so hopefully weighs in on this and you know he could even answer the question on behalf of your spouse yeah I mean I if I'm sure they have you know from time to time gone on ams on after. Couple cocktails in their but I do remember one. Instance were I was I had a few and I was overly responsible. Where I'm retired. I went to pay my student loan to a minimum payment for the month. And I accidentally clicked right off lone. And so I had to called him up the next thing Munich although I did not mean to do that's a little man do it more oil and mistakes you know a little bit. Mitt men men spend more while on drug spending and women that are 564. Dollars vs 282 dollars. And I was convinced when I saw the stories at all colonials must be drugs did dumbest. They're not actually generation at. X spends the most money on drug purchases averaging 730. Dollars less last thick more than triple colonials that's that's. Fifteen dollars a week. Yeah that's fifteen dollars a we want to drink to write like all the crap. I I have a solution I I have I have a solution and you guys might want to write this down. There is. And app you can put on your phone. That will prevent this type of activity and it's it's called drunk hey it's DR and KP. A Y. And you do. If you download that apple phone and it follows the knows where your bill rate. And if it sees that you're in the local saloon for three hours it's gonna shut down your ability to shop online. The the other thing that they could do in Google did this they they made this a Gmail option a couple years back. Where in order to send an email in innate problems people drunk emailing you know ex girlfriends and this and that all the Alter you don't wanna email. So what they do is they allowed users to set up that you had to answer a series of math problems before your email would be sent. And if you could answer them correctly it wouldn't let you send email. Us I'd like to see something similar done here. You know I think Debbie you know it's in and they're not easy problems is not you know too close to its at least in a little bit complicated you know where you got to do a couple steps. I like it I think it's good idea. Well it's it's the it's an a solution to a brought by I was just shocked when I saw these numbers and I said a cellphone to helping. They come across this snow corner metsu. And they did it 200 research on this that Generation X. or the worst. Offender by the way just did some math on this and this equates out to if we assume -- 250 million Americans doing this is our kids probably arc is the other two young and not enough credit cards are drinking. It equates to about a 112 billion dollars a year and in spending. What we did marketers noticed too so at 9 o'clock they start sending emails and special offers to people who work drunk there were they suspect might be drug. Anyway when we come backward at talked about the rise of old Buick deaths and we've got MarketWatch coming up as well that's been. Just like this on FaceBook and follow us on Twitter. Time now fall asleep watch a look at the market's performance so far today you don't marry him jog right here on the financial exchange radio network. Mike Armstrong is with this now for Wall Street watching my guess that H&R block is up 11% today is that just because it's tax timers on the Nelson work. Every -- to respect and it's obviously be big earnings time of the year that but there reported on last quarter's earnings and they're expected to lose about a dollar 29 cents per share they actually lost a little bit less dollars sixteen per share and and poster up they have in the stock have been beaten apple lot turned when attacked talked about tax reform initially. And has redone the fair bet we'll see what their actual taxis and public is looking like what they're port and exceed. Ross Stores which doesn't have a huge presence appear in the northeast as he they're down about 5% how come. Dad it's moved a little bit even further at this point so they had a pretty solid Q4. Earlier today they're down gorgeous picture half percent. The engine. Pretty solid Q4 but they gave. Tough guidance looking forward for 2018. So against teams are sales earnings for all good reporter in the holiday shopping season but looking out forward. Pretty weak guidance as you mentioned stocks up 5%. Somewhat of a shocking move today for dollar tree the retailer that had been doing very well the last five years but they're down 16%. In trading today what's going on. Yeah absolutely they they just missed the united way and I and a quarter where you know a lot of these types of companies have been had a pretty good. Good earnings could revenues. Dollar tree mr. didn't miss all that substantially been missed by a penny. When a company like this that is so low margin business and on revenues its gets concerning for investors obviously. Stock is down as you mentioned 16%. This morning on missing by opinion because revenues and a. Very good thank you Mike. That is Michael Armstrong with Wall Street watch. So chuck we have a couple people wanting to buy that book if you want to sell it missed and Tex lines 63566. What kind of offers are again. No dollar amount six pack execs history. There's a history seems to have the highest degree of interest and yes expects taken to some more light up deaths of it's it's got a special place in my heart so while mom holding out for good offer on this one. All right hey. We're just talk about drunk shopping. On another note that it's a little more serious the law enforcers. Oh pioli deaths continue to rise and we have a head count. As of I think it was the middle of 2017. Totally lose 61000 people here. Yeah is. We just continue to see these these spikes of OP UA deaths lie and with what how this day hostess continued their. Buried in the past two months in my age group we've had two deaths in the past two months of OT. Who would you mean your age could be 284920. People you know go to down into my school to about two months. It's that the big thing is it's it's the synthetics like fentanyl which now you know you're you're talking about you know OP awards that are. Tens to hundreds of times more more potent than what you get. You know an over the counter medication and it's just. It it is absolutely devastating in and the problem is it's you can have such Trace amounts that what you've seen in some cases. Is that these OP awards are actually being used despite other drugs and people who don't even know that there taking them in some cases. Are just. Dying from you know it's you know there there being you're seeing now marijuana that's laced with this dolphins so. You know it's I've seen a couple cases of that in the last six months I think that marijuana is called spice and thank and it's just not good enough to know that's not this that's not bad on and that's the synthetic stuff. You are looking bleached. I'm this is going to. This is supposedly real stuff but I guess in two cases of high school kids who almost died because of marijuana that was laced with fentanyl. A trade the bill leasing that you're mentioning it right that actually. It would be a reason to legalize it in regulated gases that way you would know like these candidates that's being sold has been in. World news sterile fashion down and there's also some and you hold responsible you've got supply chain you can Trace. So at any rate terrible story after Portland. Coca-Cola getting into alcohol beverage business. Yeah Coca-Cola in Japan is going to be launching their first alcoholic drink ever. And you know it's not a guarantee that this comes over to the US. Simply because they don't always bring every product in two every market. But it is interesting to see them going down this road and I do wonder if it signals that they realize they may we have to make a little bit of a pivot. As far as our core products are growing as quickly is you know they have historically. In do we need to you go in a different direction here in this is a company that's been around for a 131 years now again be a 132 years old on May eighth. They've never had an alcoholic beverage before so it's it's telling you something about their thought process right now that there they're moving in this direction even just in Japan. There. Folks say a quick word if you are nearing retirement age and have yet to set up a trust a protector acids don't change the station for the next sixty seconds. As the united actually talked about buying it for clients who never did and in the sediment on the stock went way up in price. Oprah Winfrey announcing yesterday that she selling 25%. Of your company. That company shield a big chunk of that would shield my 12% 13%. Yeah and you know part of new looks this and says okay does she think that this is kinda peaked out. The other thing that I look at though is that she's in a ten Bagger on this meaning that it's gone up in value ten times and she bought it. So she's pulling out her initial investment. Yeah and and so I look at it and I say okayed you know part of his view we talk about diversification don't put all your eggs in one basket. You know part of it out and say OK maybe she's doing a little bit of that there but it does concern me when you see you know someone who's a big stake holders selling a quarter of their shares that's a big chunk wants out the market respond to. So it it's been up and down the last week actually has been down but yesterday we did see additional downward movement go from 61 bucks a share down fifty eights off about three and a half percent. But he backed up six and a half percent today so. Who knows. Tucker how long did you lose your power four in the storm last week two and a half days. And chuck how about you we had two different instances only about half now each. Well Casey you you've got hit very modestly yeah terms of an hour ago losses in the next town over means situated pages got pat Beck power out last night. They're about to lose tonight it is a lot of water early eighteen terms deepened so it's gone so martial him. You know I Wii sold Duke Energy recently to chucked out of our client portfolios yes we do Leone I don't think we own statement. It their reason I bring this up is. You know the east and act in New York I think you've got 70000. Residents without power 37000 in New Jersey I don't know what the numbers in. In New England. The if you read an annual reporter quarterly report for any utility company in the country. They'll talk to view it in they'll come right out and say. We need to do more maintenance on our grade we need to take down more trees we need to put some lines underground. And the problem they have is a political one track. They go to the attorney general four majors they go to the attorney general for new Yorker Connecticut or Massachusetts or Rhode Island. And the Connecticut and and they say we need to put. Fifteen million a hundred million dollars 200 billion dollars billion dollars into the grid. You know at the attorney general say no we'd lead the you'd have to raise rates too much would happily do so. Chalk talk are what you think about you are without power for two and a half days. And it was completely avoidable and unnecessary for you to BA without electricity. We have to pay more for your electricity because our grid. Our grid nationally is in decrepit condition. And needs media capital investments I mean how ancient by the utility poles. How wings and is that you know they mean brutal modern city go out today. Phoenix or you to. Part of the problem we have is our stuff is all above ground. But the other part is we don't allow the utility companies chuck to invest and maintain degrade in a proper fashion. Hey I do agree on some level but how much higher would people be comfortable paying. You know how that's the big question I'd be comfortable. Tucker's talkers tolerance from work for more about payment is very high rate now as you go two and a half days without power. It it's very well. The other thing on Angel at the other thing is you'd think about it I was driving through town all everything was out thinkable the businesses that to shut down. It's an illusion there was a money. Yup it is it and look I agree but just remember the cost of seeking that in two real underground as opposed to elevated. It's depending on the the kind of always going possible to do it's it's three to five times the cost and that's that's the big thing is what do what I do you think is if if you have a telephone pole the gets knocked down. If you have sections that get knocked down. Eight just dump them underground then you know like yeah. Once one's gone don't try to put it back up. Don't been underground at that bowl we had a bunch of fallen utility poles and it put him back up obviously mall underground you know I'd take that approach it's like this house gets knocked down near the beach take don't rebuild it you gotta move Leo because you're you're done. It just feels like it's never gonna do a domino like our managers and I've utility poles around for the rest in my life now to look at those ugly outsource it and authorities there are in the northeast you Marty I greatly. The cost the U we ran through the numbers with a guy that worked in the utility industry him and and you're never gonna see these lines underground northeast that we can still maintain the better. Like they're different types of polls that are more tolerant to the high winds there's things you can do to degrade to improve it. The problem is your politicians. Walt allowed but because here's a thing Tucker right now having gone without electricity for two and a half days is willing to pay 20% more. Chuck had to interrupt this for thirty minutes each he's not willing to pay 20% Maury. Certain part of me that would but it's I just think the majority of people already think electric rates into line. Well I can tell you the guy is running hockey rink in Foxborough. He's outlawed paint point there's nothing to it now in early. At the guy just running a seafood business he's doubled pick when he now that the guy running a server farm you know they they don't wanna be doing this stuff. The key to the knee is simply can't afford but the problem is I can tell you these power outages you're gonna get one tonight. The east power outages are going to continue to get worse because if you read the annual reports they will tell you. Our system is our electrical grid is not being maintained properly they are warning the attorney general's and you know what the attorney general's. Don't have the political hot spot. To go to the electorate and say yes you're going to be paying it's a pain 200 dollars a month to be paying 240 dollars a month or an improved to grit Siegel whose power. For 72 hours and is the Adobe another series of power outages that were reporting on two on for sure we have a all right coming up we will be joined by. Hi this is chuck Zahn in I'm joined today by an estate planning attorney Todd lots key from the offer of Cushing and Dolan with your financial exchange quick tip of the day and Todd we're talking about how your mobile trust's operating. A lot of people are afraid that if they transfer money into an irrevocable trust that they give up control of their assets they have to ask permission to do anything is this a ballot. Concern. You know it's not a valid concern but it's one that I can understand right people in general are gonna say. I heard your vote Coble trust you lose all control and and for a lot of years that's true and for different kinds of trusts that's true. Not for the kinds of trusts if you're concerned about Medicaid protection this kind of irrevocable trust. You do not lose that kind of control at all what kinds of things can you still do in any probable trust that you don't have to give up control so let's say you put your house. Can live there you can pay your bills you can rent it. And you can sell. And you can buying a house with the proceeds and it doesn't even restart any waiting periods it's a wonderful flexibility you can also put in your investment portfolio. And and you don't even limit. The types of investments that you could invest in just because it's inside the trust some people get concerned that their trustee may misbehaved you have the ability to change trustees if that's the case you do have the ability to change trustees and put on anybody else that you would like so. You have that kind of flexibility as well and you can even change beneficiaries. On the trust so. Folks in valid concern you don't lose control when you put assets in these trust in you don't give anything away. Folks there's a brand new guide out from Cushing and dole and the details these very issues it's available by calling 8668. Horry. 5699. And Brian thank you for coming on with us. We're talking about today. Anixter International. The small cap distributor. Distributes. Networking security products and got videos have been in professional you know. I'll also wire and cable and utility power products that you know utility companies which would use transformers poll hardware stuff like that and also allow. Also the concern themselves do you value that should be here because they offer services like inventory management world record companies actually does that for their customers to. Palm Pre assembly integration configuration that that type of thing. So what's the what's the bullish case for them going forward. Well so you know with the kind of lumped in with with. Industrial distributors and as you might now that whole group kind of competing. Earlier this year again with Amazon isn't going to space. We think that that it. As overblown for the whole group especially. Especially Anixter because they're in other dairy product oriented and and really a lot of technical experts used. So really we don't think dead at Amazon can really protect them much and in terms of coral drivers to there's a tie that's there they're big but it was either senator. You know what to grow error on the wire and cable the practical in America. I don't benefit from US residential commercial construction. And you know another another trend that's positive for them as Christine we in kinda act. Control and locking hardware and network security we're moving from more on the chemical product offering. To I electronic. Products which is good for them to that's higher margin. And so we think a ladder of our growth drivers their margin should come back. Associations during industrial markets are currently recovering and then you know another turner certainly is interesting is he's Geithner paid regulated. And by the only case either a large special dividend in or. Bought back shares intact historically two thirds of their free cash ball went to do shareholders. They stopped it because of the couple acquisitions that we think that there and the costs of start to return cash to shareholders in another child from stock. Is there anything about this business that concerns you that potentially could derailed in the next year to. You know it's it's you know they they. Probably have to their their business dot com and from. Projects in the constructions sell if that type of work where to slow down and did you know that that could hurt their world but. I guess I think there's there's there's enough. Sealed drivers out there sales growth drivers out there and it really. Doesn't concern us much at this point in you know we think that going forward to distance firms should be growing it kind of for the 6%. Built in here which you know and yes. At least twice apps. Very good Bryant thank you for the time we appreciate it. Brian Bernard from morning start talking about Anixter International detector on that company if you wanna look them up is a XE. So how does that get impacted if the dollar devalues truck. That's a company like that mean you would you would imagine that they're going to receive margin compression. Discuss their input costs are gonna rise so it's probably. I meet in general. The way that you typically see stocks perform if if if they currency weakens stocks tend to rise on the news simply because they can pass a lot of that through NCC higher sales and in higher profits that there at the people who typically get hurt with they devalued dollar in the short term are individuals and households just as their wages don't quite keep up. With the inflation that you see in. You know it could be a case where you see a return of nearly kind of stagflation you saw back in near the seventies in the early eighties. This is the financial exchange with Barry Armstrong and chunks of you're exclusive look at business and financial news affecting your day you're sick leave your world and stay informed and up today. About the economic and market trends plus breaking business news. And now the financial exchange with the very Armstrong and sharks. We'll. Learned last night. That Gary Cohn would be leaving the White House says the economic advisor to president Donald Trump. And on that news stocks sold off last night around the world markets were down because areas such as influential and important. Aspect of the trumpet administration. Chief economic advisor he's a free trade guy but he was strictly opposed to Donald Trump's terrified. Well this morning when the markets open they're down about 300 points on that news. And right now truck they're down only a 130 points and what it tells Vietnam interpreting this is no hard data to support my thesis. When the way I interpret this is the stock market and big investors are saying. Okay. We know Donald and you know he said news channel blocker up but he said he was gonna build the wall in unity about all the New York statements he's made during the last two or three years none of them actually happen Grady didn't locker up but he didn't build the wall the death. A lot of what he talks about his bluster. And I think what investors are doing is looking at this and saying okay this is a negotiating poorly. Per his NAFTA negotiations which are ongoing today with Mexico can't. It is certainly there's there's a chance you see that a Mina. I've talked a little bit about what you see in the bond market which is reacting a little bit differently you know the bond market seems to be a little bit more concerned about this right now. But it's what there's there's a chance that it is just all bluster and these terrorists never end up being implemented. I think that again cone leaving. Is a sign that maybe he viewed that wasn't the case and and that's the one thing that worries me. Yeah dollar debt that you raise a good point and I think it'll be. Very important to see who takes that role going forward I'll tell you what that would make me feel good is if Larry Kudlow took the job. Because that would mean the free traders still have a voice in that negotiation we still gets talked to him. Probably in about a fact I wouldn't count on talker for two more show idling on the same thing doctor try to get him a some actually couple hours it goes on CNBC so. He still making the rounds. But I I don't know if you beyond Torino on note. Nearly a week we have a poll questions seat you know you can participate in the showed a number way you'd participate in our poll witches. Do you think we are entering a trade war thirty point 5% of you think we are 69 point 4% you'd think we are not entering into trade worse that's one way. To communicate with us through our poll question financial exchange showed a com and then don't forget to text us or text number is 63566. That's I get in touch with us. By the techs line. Let's talk about the storm that was in the storm that is coming pretty tough on the restaurant industry. Yeah I mean it's it's certainly is a mean these the kinds of things where either millions in some cases you just have people who choose to stay home through the storm NC don't have the trapped in other cases you might not be able to open maybe don't have power may be your employees can't get in the and so there are cases where you might not be able to open if you wore a restaurant owner it's not as big a deal on a daily this on a Wednesday. But if you look like a Friday or Saturday stormed homes at huge impacts because that's when restaurants make their money. Well and all the food that they had stored went bad right yeah they had to restock their inventories. Now they're just getting restock directive probably just guts restock with the inventory and now would they lose their power for another 72 hour. Yet it if you've got restaurants that are kind of on life support and and DO in dangerous shape. Couple weeks like this can knock him out. Bury my him my finalize the general manager at T deal malice and situated which is right on the harbor. Yup and they have been out for going on there they're only gonna return tomorrow so six days they've been out closed so they've lost all agent David generator. I believe they do but who's such a significant storm that you know they couldn't the power was out pretty much. Eight there was ramifications are some damage and like you said the inventory they got to restock twosome at a prep for that. You know for about 101000 Boxee can buy generator. Every year for your house and for about 20000 dollars in violent for your business and you know with these storms and with it decrepit condition of our electrical grid may not be a bad idea. TV we're actually covering a story about batteries that. I've got a generator outside that that signal light Saber you don't need it very often but when you need it it's a lot of money lady di Europe we'll tell you how much money you lost as result of just the inventory loss. My father in law now in a father now. Ask them. They'd be curious he beat me analysts say that and then what about your. There or I don't know they got hit hard to nine hours as such to a no no I saw a city where it was just yeah I mean later says they just got back power yesterday pretty much. And patient they might lose it tonight and then I loses sign up. CVS. Racing forty billion dollars chuck. And two some pretty attractive yields some of these bonds to a safer fixed income investor. In you get a lot better than you would on treasury by NC BS bonds. Yeah a big big bond offering your forty billion dollars from CBS largely to finance. Their purchase of Aetna which is gonna cost about seventy billion dollars in total. And the the bonds are anywhere inland. From two years all the way up to thirty years the thirty year portion. Yields about an extra 2% over. The underlying treasuries of the same ones so if you were to go and take a look. At where thirty year treasuries are right now who's pulling them up just a three hour change and Terry is 3335. Through fifty right now at 314 so you know if you go out thirty years he can get 5% on these I don't know if you wanna be buying thirty years CVS bonds at this point. Yeah I hate every day that whole sector could get really Pollack is a stock hasn't done very well has it. Now stuck in the stock hasn't done greats. But. You know it is a case I do think rising yields are starting to become a reality and know that there was concern on that front coming into this year. Aimed ultimately everything that you see now appears to be pricing those in. Game and I think. That's who we are going to end up with higher rates than a lot of people were predicting at the beginning of this year. Big appetite still fixed income you know among senior citizens there look you know if your senior citizen. You can cash your stock portfolio by thirty year CDS bond 5% call right call today. Well on in here here's the thing though like let's say you get the US the ten year up to three and a half by the end this year if that starts looking attractive to some folks that'll Tuesday that's pretty high rate he's he's suggesting ten news and three a year end. I'll go out on the island race down Tucker may I got a like out of a Guatemalan. Rate write that down put on the prediction priority. Is chuck say in ten year treasury 3.5 percent by 123118. I don't know if how many post organ of the prediction Malden. That's another it's a little crowded dance and kind of a small is Calvin Johnson still up there no I took him down while he's down why she's tired. And Johnny man's utilities CU making a comeback. They would signing him. Bill Belichick needs quarterback great Y waste a draft Nikki just pick up joining and so for you know bag of pucks in the promise you get him he's still need quarterback. The hook will. Smith & Wesson weary on Smart guns why would Smith & Wesson be opposed to Smart guns I would think this would be a boon for them the big fortune office. You you would think that they'd be able to simply be out charge more on on these these Smart guns here. They are saying the other two concerns they have they don't necessarily specialize in technological development. And they also worry that it might hurt demand from their core customers non their core customers might not be interest in Smart bombs. Those are big things they said. That he Agassi imagine if everybody had to have a Smart gun right each day's trading year old and give us mark Smith & Wesson makes Bangkok. Yeah I mean if if you'll get from that perspective. They they could make a ton of money that way I just I think that they would get some push baggy is it's clear the NRA doesn't want to go down that road. And and obviously Smith & Wesson is pretty much knew saying they looked nots of the more interest to them. Well we'll see unity death politically Eleanor how tracked how. How much it. Appeal that would. Says that the the criticism that you have on Smart guns is if the technology malfunctions. And him you know all of a sudden it doesn't work the way it's supposed to either someone is not supposed to be able to fire the weapon does or somebody supposed to be able to fire the weapon. Can't ray all of a sudden you've got all kinds of liability out there and that's probably what will. I look at just be in you know not try to get involved the gun argument but just from a monetary standpoint. I would think every game gun manufacturer in the country would say hey yes we we beasts that very supportive of this technology. If that's the only kind of guy and you're allowed to have it treated all those old guns right when you do those you have to destroy them and everybody gets Smart. I just heard just I've just talking about now. You know as much of the gun industries in New England or even got to the New Hampshire Connecticut Massachusetts. IE DA dot or best US. VI EDA dot or. We wanna hear from you. Thanks Steward diaries 263566. And let us know what you think about the stories we discuss your team to the financial exchange radio network. And it is distributed to people renowned for their craftsmanship but. In today's auto world. Start to fall behind the couple key areas and here to talk about that is Adam Roberts from the economist and Adam that we is that it. But the picture on how before we get into the issue their facing today. Shall also predicted quick and consequently ought to be a big companies lined both bargain that the east ten million on the year. Fight to be among the biggest property is in the world but the real accent the German car companies. Indian premium content they make that very bad audiences not actually. Premium models that are out if you look at BMW's. Game in the eighties. How the courses. This is let Jeremy dominate in could fault that the hole between income in the world they come from Germany. Why is that the case. And I think that the history all. Great you mentioned the let crops and sit as a wonderful tradition of manufacturing industry. Let this be small companies in the mix Stan could come up and they have a great do a lot of investment in inflation and recession development. Just. That is the other Germans spending 22 billion euros the year with such and development they put a lot of emphasis on. Sometimes small things making them until sounds comforting and no we are soaring when they closed with a good one. And sometimes catastrophic like being utterly at developing and bags antilock brakes so that the small stuff that goes on and find the cup. So let's talk a little bit about the changes that are happening in the automotive industry and how these German carmakers are reacting let's talk first about the shift to electric vehicles. What do the different companies doing on this front. So who I. As you just mentioned that the base if he got a woman nine normally see that the heat increasing demand for electric com. Hasn't been very well that because the Germans to down eleven that he is sending these big expense deduction recount that democracy. These two powers or otherwise I'll buy petrol engines. There's been much slope and the other brands app shifting to electric they don't want to give up. The compete for the authorities saying that politics and I don't want to rush into an exit when that didn't sell well from the initial. The traditional approach to power in congress. And so there's really nothing yet on the market to content that attend that or even and you Jackie of them over the coming out with a New Mexico on. They learned the small concert for the mid am at least that's the most popular most popular lexicon in the world. Lol all the Chinese electric that coming up determined that means that he's when it comes to an actress. Another place where they seem to be lagging a little bit is in the race Ford driver Lewis vehicles we've seen a ton going on. Both in the United States as well as an Asia on this front I mean obviously go down the list has slowed Google. GM across the board that you know just about every company seems to be involved on this front. We're not hearing a lot from those high end brands that typically are the first ones to make a big technological shift. Yeah that's it that's it would seek appointment in god guns and the idea of what comedy is in Germany you you wanna get a big powerful content you sit behind the lives you'd like that down hill took on the most speed limit. You know you just raced down and you'll in control. To hold model that try to that is that you know it's a rowboat. Maybe don't even from Bangkok book written by the algorithm you're not in child. I'm determined to be because getting around a bit because it threatens them model of what is what is it can't. And I think they've been much slower in public on the same. On the other hand behind the scenes that you have lead in the eastern teams or that development they are looking at the border IKEA. In the pit that he the whole that they all do the response that that he hated being much. And getting them to for the things that can live and hasn't been getting home. Now EU countries historically have been. Much more rapid in imposing regulations on how and where people can travel as far as. You know additional taxes on gas you know encouraging people to use smaller vehicles bike lanes you know use taxes and so forth like that. But when I look at this the German Economy makes a huge portion of the EU. Our air EU countries going to necessarily impose restrictions on gas powered vehicles if it effectively cuts off their nose to spite their face. It's a good point at least being. The German government lobbying bury all the bulk of the of the car companies have been spending too much regulation happy EU metal. That would that would limit on emissions. Of carbon dioxide emissions that. Not that my trip oxide that they didn't in this city. That the European Union is quite reluctant that. Too many regulations on the. What we're seeing now in many cities and I'm talking from Paris but it's also true in London. And all of in Rhode now. Is that man that sentence if he told wanna read about it position I'm beginning to bring in their own restrictions. I'm just a couple of weeks ago we had a couple in Germany saying that German cities and stopped due to take and bring them home. People can't coming into the sentence. And that becomes that tackles a lot of doubt about what the people on the going to be around much longer or even you know the old internal combustion engine will be on site. You write society Europeans are reluctant. Regulate that that golden gate but he's the pedals might stop today. And obviously one of the places where we're seeing the greatest shift on that front is in China where I believe within a couple years they're gonna require 8% of all new vehicles. To be electric vehicles one of the biggest makers for China. Volkswagen. Yes that was you're absolutely right that China is really pushing and that it could count the Chinese have very good at making the country that most. Without people heaviest part of an electric current capacity in the Chinese and leave the got into the act that got political and about the Caribbean but he's been making capacity. We'll determine the full behind that happened caught up on the battery. Now that the Chinese that culminating in the Backstreet they don't want to push the development of electric car. Popping also of course to reduce pollution and that takes city and so I think it's them they're gonna have to catch up to convey need to not in China. And they can really be racing to catch up with an account. Very good Adam we appreciate the time today and thank you again for all the work you've done on this. Thank you Adam Roberts from the economist talked met German carmakers fallen behind in a couple key technological area. They sure are less than a year after buying its West Hartford headquarters. And manufacturing plant with financial help from the state. Colt's manufacturing company has been sued in federal court over accusations that it has shifted work out of the plant to save money and laid off workers that's not a good book. Yet they have by scene the number of union jobs at the factory drop by about 200 since 26 teen. And you know the question is are they shifting these jobs elsewhere or is a case where sales simply aren't good enough they have to get rid of jobs. Simply because they're trying to keep the doors open at this point. Well earlier this week we've talked about how Smith & Wesson has laid off 25%. Of their workforce yup. And COLT back in October 2016. They discontinued some second shift operations and laid off about fifty workers then they've had additional cutbacks since then. But right now there are only 288. Members of the union still employed at the factory down from 506. Just a year and a half ago. Coming up next ran out demonstrate a story. Bet Californians. Are a little bit different than the rest of us I was gonna go out on malignancy Californians are down that would be rude I'm not gonna do that. But they're certainly different than those of us on the East Coast that's our next story on the financial exchange. Hi this is chuck exotic in I'm joined today by estate planning attorney Todd lots ski. From the offer of Cushing and Dolan with your financial exchange quick tip of the day and Don we're talking about how nerve Opel trust operating. A lot of people are afraid that if they transfer money into an irrevocable trust that they give up control of their assets they have to ask permission to do anything is this a ballot. Concern. You know it's not a valid concern but it's one that I can understand right people in general are gonna say. I heard your vocal trust you lose all control and and for a lot of years that's true and for different kinds of trusts that's true. Not for the kinds of trusts if you're concerned about Medicaid protection. This kind of irrevocable trust. You do not lose that kind of control at all what kinds of things can you still do in in your probable trust that you don't have to give up control so let's say you put your house. Can live there you can pay your bills you can rent it and you can sell. And you can buy another house with the proceeds and it doesn't even restart any waiting periods it's a wonderful flexibility you can also put in your investment portfolio. And and you don't even limit. The types of investments that you could invest in just because it's inside the trust some people get concerned that their trustee may misbehaved you have the ability to change trustees if that's the case you do we have the ability to change trustees and put on anybody else that you would like so. You have that kind of flexibility as well and you can even change beneficiaries. On the trot so. Folks in valid concern you don't lose control when you put assets in these trust in you don't give anything away. Folks there's a brand new guide out from Cushing and dole in the details these very issues it's available by calling 8668. Horry. 5699.
