This is the financial exchange with the very Armstrong and chunks of you're exclusive look at business and financial news affecting your day you're sick leave your world. Stay informed and up today about economic and market trends plus get breaking business news and every day. And now the financial exchange with the Barry Armstrong and chuck Exxon. The big news out of DC today. FaceBook. Google and Twitter all making their way to Capitol Hill as they are set to talked to congress about. The scope of Russian backed manipulation on their platforms. In the lead up to between sixteen US presidential election chuck not a Mike Armstrong Tucker still be here today. I'm not gonna get into the details on what did or didn't happen because quite frankly I have no idea that's hopefully what we're gonna gain a little bit of clarity on today. Well here's one stat they did release before the testimony which is. On the FaceBook platform of these is obviously the Russian backed manipulation of the platforms which was Staten mainly done by this one organization that's backs Kremlin. Reached an estimated 126 million people on just the FaceBook network. So the question that I have as we look at this from where financials show. Is what potential impact does this have on these companies and on their bottom line obviously with the social and political thing it's it's one side of this. But these companies. To this point just about all of them have pretty much said. Look we're going to aside for merely obvious things pornography it did you know about child. You know trafficking and so forth Sutton the things that are obviously illegal we're gonna seven dollars or anyone ads that are placed on our site in one of the questions that I have is. Is this the beginning of a change where you start to see. These web sites are these platforms. Effectively deciding pay evened things that aren't necessarily illegal we don't want them on our website. I'm not sure it'll go that way but I do believe that over the next decade a lot of these. Yet these types of companies are going to be treated a lot more like news organizations than they are today. And that could include requiring. Specific statements. Around political advertisements for instance so who is funding this this video just like we have on television and radio and all that. What group is behind this this video. An end to this point those aren't those things are not required. Four Internet advertising in in the reason for that is simply because. Legislation often has a difficult time keeping up with technology exactly the people who are innovating oftentimes are able to move much more quickly. Then our elected representatives and and it's it's no no secret that our elected representatives. The quickest in a case and that's by design some of it our founding fathers and look we don't want to be having big changes year to year and some of it is just because of tennis that there at the rubble that our political system has almost fallen into at this point show the question that I have to. Where we stand right now is all these platforms FaceBook alphabet Twitter they all make a significant amount of their revenue. By either selling ads and having people view those ads or by selling the date of people on their platform to companies that are looking to target those or both. Or both. So the question is you know all these companies to this point have been happy to accept money from anyone saying okay look we we don't care where the money's coming from. All we care about is our bottom line you know it's not our job to police our platform. That's you know users can choose how they want to behave. Is this going to change that because remember these are publicly traded companies in and the reason people invest in publicly traded companies you can. You can name and number small ones with the biggest reason why people invest in publicly traded companies is to make money. That is that is the single reason why investors look at these competence. And so if you're talking about saying what I can accept money because of X or Y or Z. Can that potentially have a view they've immeasurable effect on their bottom lines well you've. Our receipts or did Twitter has already announced that they have removed 2752. Accounts linked to the Internet research agency which is that Russian firm that has links the Kremlin. So they're already beginning to do this proactive in the region their during the duo proactively is likely because they're trying to protect their shareholders by saying okay. If we're proactive perhaps the legislation is not going to come down as hard as it would if Regis. Put her hands up and said node. Bore for do we want. Where does the line fall. It as far as. A company trying to do what's in the best interest of its shareholders and a company practicing censorship in platforms that is that are designed. For people to have their voice heard and that's that's something were I I every did I time trying to figure that out in his. It's something that these companies are gonna have to navigate because. You know obviously the thing that we hear often is well why don't I don't want my view censored on Twitter I don't want my view censored on FaceBook and in and I understand that because the last thing that you want to is all of a sudden the idea that. You're not able to get your voice out just because of what your view is right but the question becomes. It's not about just necessarily your voice but also accepting dollars from some from people who were directly trying to undermine your system. Daria and mean what you don't want if you're the owner of FaceBook or Google or Twitter is the concern that your platform. Is going to be constantly question about whether or not it's posing any sort of legitimate news source hey you know if you're right everyone that ever goes on FaceBook is tossed in the questioning. Well finally some believe anything that's posted on here then you've lost your credibility as cup. Boy an easy one as you go on FaceBook and and they've been aggressive about going after. Postings from places and from al-Qaeda say okay we're in and it's easy one understand what you say look this is something that is obviously very destructive and in pure evil and we don't want this anywhere near. Our people but when it's things that are that black and white and it's. It's hate is their subtle influence that's being exerted by groups that may not want the best things for us. That's tough to understand because you know if someone's is a patent someone's head off on FaceBook it's easy to say what we don't want that because you don't. Wreck if someone is you know subtly trying to manipulate things behind the scenes it's a much to it more difficult argument to makes a lot. Tougher crackdown which is perhaps why you just have to include. Some sort of statements going forward about where the funding is coming from the United States coming from authorization that spending more than X dollar amounts. On this platform than perhaps they are being gonna be required going forward to disclose where that funny stomach. It's a catch of a little bit on the yes story from yesterday via the Paul manna for indictment. And specifically what I'm interest I read through the indictment and there's about three of four pages. In this indictment they go through. All pretty much all the financial transactions. That did that pretty much joke a lengthy list of transactions. That. Give me a pretty clear money trail of what Paul metaphor was trying to do from a money laundering perspective it's a pretty damning trail. Oh yeah I mean for anyone that's ever received any sort of Monday money laundering training. Which. If you are in the financial services industry you have perceived money laundering training it is just very clear that he's been layering funds and trying to get then you know. To be posing as legitimate money that you own it attacks so. Things do not look great proponent of Ford now we have to be clear in the indictment there's really nothing whatsoever related to. The election in theory it appears that all of this is stemming from. Perhaps activity that occurred around us in time for him but going all the way back 2006. Yeah day you'd pretty much it stems from 2006 all the way through 27 team but I'm looking through the indictment right now and what's interesting so if you go to page four to 31 page indictment then and on page four it starts to talk about. The companies that were created in you've got you know 12345678910111213. 14151617. Eighteen you've got seventeen companies just in the US that were created. That money was funneled through. In Cyprus you have 123456789101112. Different companies in Cyprus you've got three others. Not two companies regretting one in the UK that money is being funneled through and then all of us and on page seven you go through and it's paid 7891011. Twelve. Thirteen fourteen it is eight pages. Of transactions they have records of pretty much funneling this money into the US tax were correct so. It's I don't know you know exactly whether or not this is a case that is a slam dunk that is a long shot or anywhere between. It doesn't look like. It paper trail looks if there's a lot crappy. I powered inching charges with the failure to register as a foreign agent and which was a charge that has been used only five times since it was created in the 1960s and only actually charge somebody with that are actually. And char so that only one time in in history it's fifty years usage. Yes we've it'll be interesting to see where this goes we did have by another shoe dropping yesterday. With George popped up was pleading guilty to lying to the FBI remains to be seen what other potential indictments are out there but we'll certainly keep you up to date as we. Start to learn a little bit more. Store from apple today apple considering. Dropping Qualcomm components from their new phones insurers Qualcomm are not performing well on this news. Yes a year to date call come not to pursue the QC EO and that stock price is down about 16% year to date 20% over the last one year I didn't see what they're they're moving it all today chuck. Qualcomm yet there they are not in in good shape today they are. Down about 7% Imus show in addition to those numbers that I mentioned the Ford down 7% today. So it is basically right now Qualcomm. Provides most of the a lot of the chip making components in in Apple's phones and accounts for. A very large percentage of their revenues so last year they sold around 3.2 million billion dollars in oranges apple about 20% of their total chip sales. But also they receive royalties from apple for it whenever they're using these in those wrote these were about 30% of the total earnings for that company. Who exactly would apple go to his replacements suppliers we have any indications yes so they've been working with two big ones Intel and be attacked now worry if you're industry expert you've been looking at them and saying wow their chips just. Aren't quite as good and so we whether or not apple can truly shift all the way away from Qualcomm remains to be seen without. Really suffering performance. And but you know clearly the concern is there breeze otherwise Qualcomm stock wouldn't be getting hits of that. Does this all just go back to lose patent debates and so forth yep call comes got some very serious fans and they got the rest that I mean they do have the best product in the market. You know that apple wouldn't be using them if they weren't the best out there. Dot CA I think it's getting the point where they've been stuck in his legal battle for a few years now about the loyalties about the patents and you can see really coming to a head of the next two years. It's tough for apple to give up that kind of technology though. We're gonna take a break and coming back we're gonna talk about changes at the top for Samsung. Jail is hoping he could spend a little bit of time explaining how easy grant works and why it's a big advantage for landlords. Absolutely vary so we we developed the rain to out of me the whole race yet because right now. You know with the landlord when you're getting rain checks. It's low it's unpredictable. Missing envelope the great line but mostly waiting he might not get all the rent until the tenth or fifteenth of the month furthermore if your landlord on vacation in your rinsing your notebooks you know to what he does is it really digitize does know. It makes the ranked electronic payments and allows for roomy cheering for multiple roommates and apartments that's great if you're renting out to college student absolutely. It's predictable it comes at the same time every month. And it's all on me. And we put together our mount Russian and us of how we can't we. Crunch the numbers this is definitely a good one too good on. Counties this is definitely the mount Rushmore of candies what are our four choices Tucker we have Snickers. Reese's. Kicked that into works I think that's the absolute mount Rushmore following candy. Yeah I was or agree an and to be honest if someone has you know different thoughts and someone says oh you know I want Milky Way are all I want skills get out. Get out. Beauty you're just you're you're misinformed the four best Halloween candies Snickers receives a cat and twitch that's what we have four pole okay. Head over to financial exchange showed dot com and vote right now. And we're gonna what you know we have kind of what ends up being the winner at the end of the day I am firmly on team kit Kat. Reese is on the way yeah Reese's from banquet I recess it's basically cats and second it's a second forming a type 1 this morning at 8 o'clock explain to me a little bit about the but what makes always okay morally huge peanut butter fans. It is not not even that might it's like Olympia park but the Reese's recipe is just. Unbelievable just they put that that's what's out there I think just ask India there. It's it's just it's gonna blow all in and out of the water so it's not a note worth debating. Is just the best game yet there you know this. You're gonna look back on this time delay. What's his name George king from New York my daily news New York Post not for Pedro Martinez for MVP back in 99 left but you're gonna look back twenty years now do you feel like. What the heck was I think you know now OK I don't bail out to all our listeners who wanna participate in this debate head over to financial exchange showed dot com and vote. What Tucker what are the early results that we are getting right now I'm on I'm again firmly team kick outward like Stan. You sir you're in second place much like it should be 54%. Reese's is leading the way fall by ticked at 27% and then Snickers and tweaks are tied. For a third fourth. I'm good at nine I'm gonna make a personal appeal here too. I just don't want to lose to talker and Mike sued anyone who's on the fans go and vote knowledge and I now get on there after recent anyone's on the fence. Head over and vote for team K can now on the Sampson. Samsung Electronics shaking up there on their leadership here. Yeah I mean and another company that has just had. It almost. Reminiscent of Volkswagen type issues so way they're there they're leader is in prison. And for basically gave if anyone has been saving and or rock the last few years so the former. Is a prime minister president of South Korea former president effectively was being it was almost a puppet of the the Samsung CEO BS or San Sergio is route paying massive bribes through there and impacting a lot of policy. He's in jail now they have completely shaken up the whole company but it is basically a leaderless company at this point. I just kind of a strange structure to begin with where there's three different segments were led by three different CEOs and that was done to. Basically. Not have to worry about any antitrust rules and South Korea but it is continue to be a shake ups they have new leaders leading each of these different units on Thursday you know it it is really tough to run a company renewed facto leaders in prison well and it. And destruction that you see in that that Sampson uses isn't unusual for these South Korean conglomerates that noticed eyeballs. And it's effectively. The these huge companies that you know their businesses can span anything from me you know. Ought OV you know you know cars to computers to washing machines and they do everything in between you see a whole bunch of these companies. That are set up in Korea in this way just because it tends to become the dominant form. It did that did not the dominant corporate structure for so. You know the three biggest ones that you see out there. Our Samsung Hyundai and LG yeah you know those three kind of they effectively run most of the Korean economy. And so Samsung going through some huge shake ups trying to unwind itself from this. Untangle itself from this political. Turmoil that's been going on over in South Korea and. There just isn't Selig there's a whole lot of oversight over the company MEA used to be and their change notice now bay used to be at the CEO is also the chairman of the board and it just you know when you have that's her situation going on. He you don't have much oversight of your company even though is a public trading company just. You know who wasn't a whole lot of oversight and you know back check going on what was really going on in San this company. Get some updates on what's going to be happening from a health insurance perspective next year obviously some changes coming as the drug administration canceled the CSR payments to insurers the cost sharing reduction payments. What this means if you're if you don't make a whole lot of money you're actually gonna benefit from this but if you are above the thresholds to receive federal subsidies. You're gonna get whacked pretty decently. Yeah so overall premiums for the private health insurance market are going up somewhere in the thirty to 40% range. So premiums going way up however the subsidies that people receive are based on how much those plans cost in comparison to their income so if you are. If you're due due to receive a subsidy IG might even get a bigger subsidy or you will likely get a subsidy here subsidy this year. That might even cover more of the cost of your health insurance if not pay the entire thing. Sowed the Costa subsidies are going to be going way way up for the US government but if you you know if you make. 100000 dollars self employed and purchase your own health insurance on the markets. That's where you're in a lot of trouble that's where you could see your premiums going you know through the apps that group. In the prom is the the people that are gonna get hurt most by this again if you are a low income person you're subsidies to protect you're gonna be fine. If you're making north of 250000 dollars 300000 dollars a year say OK I can absorb this. If you're in that suites. That middle class area that always gets whacked your household income between 70000 a 150000. Appearance in serious trouble you are going to feel a little bit of pain. Time now for mostly watch a look at the market's performance so far today thanks to Darian jug right here on the financial exchange radio network. Stop Wall Street wants to well look at some of the big stories that are moving in the markets today. Let's start our first Mike with under armour. Down about. 15% today not good now pretty pretty huge after what has been on honesty just a terribly terribly year for under armour to forgettable year for them. AA it's it's lost more than half of its value since January 1 this year there there earnings actually came in above estimates they beat on earnings expectations but revenue fell short. And that has been a key focus here is whether or not under armour and find a way to sell their apparently in a market that is. Deke recently focused on brick and mortar retail which is where anger is really made its name and so they continue to struggle with that you know adapting to this new toys for centric market. Start by Kellogg focus the company that I know has had some trouble adapting well to the changing tastes of consumers but. Alec shares up about 7% today a year to date there's still down but it nice quarter yet a good quarter areas like you said adapting to changing tastes. People just Ernie has much cereal as the added few years ago so I've stock that you mention is down it was down over 15% so far this year. This morning it's up nearly 7% religious on the news that they beat earnings revenue came little bit higher than expected reiterated their guidance for the rest of the years ago. People cast expecting a little bit of a rough quarter again here for development they should middle of the bed and and it's either you guys serial. I used to I don't anymore man and now open again ice. I ate pizza and grill I don't know if it's made by Kellogg go. In it's kind of a boxer but no line of cereal milk and all new and occasionally I'll have some weekend from the scandal generals. Fruit loops. My wife eats fairness here now she'll come home and again in the programs reports that bolster which can discuss it. Mostly real feel the gross and we geared. Secondly I don't wanna boats at such a weird about it we talk about Africa breakfast or dinner all the time I'm not total cereal for dinner no Lotta times a little too late you know. Eggs and toast and sausage and I try to Sarah were talking like. Cool Oki group we dialect coach to go out and confident talking about like Cheerios Ehrlich adults is. One of them and usually looking for I wanna see Avery. Dinner when you're a mile no I don't wanna bowl of cereal it's usually it's sweet just naturally. Accents doesn't make sense and so are you that wreckage yet I get a eggs breakfast diners phenomenal option against Avery eggs. Beta whatever you that that's a little bit more nor less paper and actually do and is a breakfast burritos. Delicious ops I mean that's strange to. Put down a little weight and that the fact that let's talk a little bit about this rule from the Department of Labor. They are effectively. Changing they're trying to move on Roma and Obama are ruled out overtime and trying to make some changes to its so that they can revise yes and let's go back industry. You exactly what this Obama are ruled that they tried to get through and failed to do so was that went through last year so effectively it was going to impact over time workers in the target here ways. Some of those managers at places like Wal-Mart and McDonald's at the him mainly retail places where they said okay you're a manager. And because of that we can just pay you let's say 30000 dollars a year and make you work as much overtime as you want we don't pay for because if you manage employees and you make I believe over twenty. The 723660. Dollars per year that we don't pay overtime so the Obama administration want to increase that number to 47 for 76. And it was blocked by a judge saying hey you know it you're basically just overriding a ruled that congress already wrote yeah that's beyond the executive power that's executive overreach. But now it's stuck in the courts so with the drug administration isn't now able to take it back and revise it they wanted it changed the ruling a little bit maybe use some different numbers. But because stuck in the courts have no ability to do so current. So pretty much they're trying to just get this out of court at some point just so they're able to actually go replies yeah so you know. Presumably you know if you're thinking what the term administration would do here. If there are going to make any revisions and all I would assume that they would just decrease the dollar amount that would be required to pay overtime. And maybe just put that it like an inflation ran around if you just used an inflation writer based on the number that they passed in 04 which was. 23660. That number would only come 33000 dollars a year. At what point you have to expose that 47 to have a pretty significant gap between those two. BP up about two and a half percent today and knew that they are restarting their buyback plan. Yeah I know these oil companies have not really been moving much at all in spite of increased oil costs. But finally you're starting to see it hit the bottom line here they beat their estimates by nine cents a share really doubling last year's numbers based on. Just higher revenue and they've continued. To be able to cut costs across the board so. You know with oil old really BP is now saying that they only need 49 dollar a barrel oil in order to breakeven in generate cash flows to their star now buy back again. You know now you again have enough cash ought to cut their dividend. And so things starting to look a little bit better for BP which has. Really since the oil spilled in a very cash strapped company. Well it in good news for oil companies that oil prices have moved up very quietly into the mid fifty range out. And if it's kind of caught consumers I think a little bit by surprise because it hasn't being you know one big move for all of a sudden it's up five dollars and a day right it's just been slow and steady creeping up there. And here we are today in west Texas intermediate at 5409 which is. Think about his ties been in two years now. Yeah and I'm wondering you know. Whenever we see oil gas prices going up which Internet. You know be really complaining I'm wondering if it's just because you know we also on get so low that we're just thinking well you know back up the portrait they are now it's not that big a deal. Or is it just because it's slow so slowly you know continue to rise up that we. You know having claimed that much is just and it just slow steady click up every week it's it's been very gradual and put this in perspective a year ago. The national average then this is for a much reply. The national average for regular gas. Two dollars and 21 cents gal yeah today it's 247 again so yeah it's a little gorge it's been eleven or 12% hike yeah in a span of a year. But it's it's been late 1% a month it's been very slow and gradual. In just kind of sneaks up via a sneaks up on all the Sidney go with a gas station is sitting there you go and we it's it's fifty dollars for tank is at forty you know it's it's sixty for take instead of 45 wood and that's that's kinda where we are right now it's good for the oil companies yep but you know if you do go out and buy that US UV in the last couple years you sit there saying. Mile border refuel list of the eight you're still are right if you just about whether Zeph serious traction you're still. I've at least where I and that situation I still wouldn't be complaining about the gas prices yet I think when you get over that three bucks a gallon. Area that's when you start to look at things gotten. This is this is starting to buy into that. Softbank apparently dropping the effort to what try to merge with T-Mobile. Any any reason why it they're just. They're two very big companies. And they're really just having a tough time figure out how they're going to value Sprint's stock and get this to work together. This is the I think that third time they've tried to do this and the third time that it has failed negotiations to get this through. Surprisingly you know initially I read the story and I was thinking while Verizon and AT&T out at magic Arabia on this. But their action all trading down based on the fact that they are all hoping that they would merge that competition would decrease. Yeah I mean obviously it's consolidated market to begin with a mean you really have four companies in the country right Verizon T-Mobile sprint and AT&T that are the dominant players. And this would reduce down to three I still think I've I'd like to see someone look at these companies. And say there's there's none of competition for for for the average for answers you know like they consumers just don't have. The options that they need and part of it look there is a massive. Massive upfront cost to developing network infrastructure yeah I mean that's the thing like way. What alternative do they do they really have no cricket wireless yeah exactly. And you've got these I mean true there are these other plans like what is that there's a Wal-Mart branded player and he kennel and again at wal mart's an item rename it. But I think they just use the other networks so it capabilities so they created their own network. No it's you see that the number of in it in a number of situations here but I find interesting is on pulled up the the subscriber numbers actually. I go to Wal-Mart thing is called straight talk street. You know and I think would be really cool. Ballmer you've got these thousands and thousands of locations all over country tower between those locations starts. Or bulletin idea and so I like I was mistaken actually aliens costs cricket wireless is a subsidiary of AT&T made out so you there are literally. Five companies operating in the US for cellular service seat you have different you know as Tucker mentioned and his commitments we have different you know licensing names. But you've got Verizon with a 147 million subscribers. AT&T with a 139. T-Mobile with seventy million split with 54 million. And US sell Euro is US cellular with five millions of types. So I mean if you could if you combine sprinting Mobley would have had a company about the size for AT&T still not quite there with Verizon but you would have had three very big. Players and just doesn't look like it's ever gonna happen in berries mentioned this in the past I think people are gonna start to realize that they don't really need. That strong signal that Verizon offers because there's Wi-Fi calling available around the majority of phones right now Subaru has got to watch other start to market to people is that it's always that map BC. They told rendering images like well now I kind of what the that a price. Always full of red but whenever you're in the spot where the red supposed to be you're sitting there going. One bar. During March and up and you know of how so far. If you travel near you really you don't if you travel for work you don't have much choice you really need to do on the top networks I think you're absolutely right. If you have a cellphone in your mainly using it in one city. Or at home. And yet you don't need to be with one of these young costly providers go up switch it up in front of those are going to be on Wi-Fi in 95%. Of the time anyway certainly are. We're gonna take a break and when we come back John Blake from Zacks is joining us for stock talk. Right here on the financial exchange radio network. Everybody it's very are strong and I'm joined today by estate planning attorney Todd lot ski from the law firm of Cushing and dole and I were talking about drafting tips. For your Medicaid income trusts. Todd you know I keep reading almost on a weekly basis about stories worse states are challenging. Durable global trusts and Medicaid applications what's up with the increased scrutiny on these trusts. Yeah the problem is that you know many more and more people maybe are trying to draft him more more lawyers are trying to get into the field that that may be our race. That's the safest way to say it and and they're putting paragraphs in that that just caused problems if you if you wanna put it in English because a crack in the ice yup and allows them to reach in and you know grab those assets from the trust and it's that that paragraph that causes the problem and so they're starting to realize that rather just receipts are true yeah. States are saying you know we're gonna we're gonna take a closer look at every one of these trusts and see if there's a way that we can find a crack and that it's well makes sense now. Whipped eight would have been. What's the result if you lose if you go to a fair hearing you lose what happens while if you were to lose that the assets basically the assets in the trust that you might have told your clients are going to be protected from the nursing home. Are no longer protect they would be considered comfortable that's. And exposed to the cost of nursing home care so it's a big deal it is a big if you lose it's all about drafting Jerry it's all about making sure war. You put the right paragraphs in the trust. Folks if you have a Medicaid income trust you may wanna have it reviewed to make sure that your assets are in fact protected. He can reach out Cushing handled by calling them at 8668485699. If you copy. Of the October guy it's about Medicaid income trusts. Most of you choose to download the guide from their website which is legal exchange showed dot com. The financial exchange would Barry and chuck is alive on FaceBook and YouTube every morning beginning at ten and this is the financial exchange radio network. We're joined now by John blanks from Zacks talk troops about a couple different companies. Morning John thanks for joining us. Yeah. So why take a look at GlaxoSmithKline. Read obviously been in the news not so much that I've heard recently but last year stemming back to the China bribery case what do you think about him right now they're reaching. What may be a five year low right now. That is yet he hit the thing I wanna bring to people's attention as it's very very scared testified that major ninety billion. In market cap stock that's cheap. And the pain of five point 4% and the deeper you get a fifty cent a share dividend every quarter. So. Now this is a stuff that's just got hammered earnings per. For reasons that are still somewhat spurious last week at you can get an entry point an eighteen month low at 37 bucks to share so. Everything was thrown at 44 hours this year beckoned you know it's you know obviously your earnings growth on the outside and it was really well 5% 2% injured. But if you look at Brent I'm. You've got a incredibly good entry point. The protector you're in the position and you can pick up five point 4% annual return that package worth looking at the U if you look at for an. What's there you know what's their big downsides here I mean is that dividend in any danger at this point to they have enough you know patent revenue to really be sustained and long term. Well apparently from their earnings report there's this you know put the dividend into played last week was cheap and that he might do would deal with visors. I want that spiders a bit gossip they've made by. That try to split title what they call consultant and they just basically I company's more than they banded you have are indeed they do have a pipeline. But I really felt most of their earnings with buying time Doug brook from other people solve the problem here. If they don't get you know a ticket to rest you know competition but it too small an internal pipeline and they start buying people. They could start to look at taking the dividend that is a society here a bit. Then as we don't have the job at this point in time they are. Marking DeVon it up a penny for furthest. Extended a bit and then by the developer and got a yourself. Italy is the world supply at a portfolio context put it competitors like this. Yeah I mean absolutely right you rarely see such a large pharmaceutical company with a dividend like this trading at such a low at this point time in this market so definitely an interest in play let's switch over to a very different company tough real Lionsgate. Well I had JW if you're pumping blood last week with network for two weeks ago with no applicant dessert and Netflix is gonna put together. Eighty gigabyte is the equivalent movie equivalent. Productions in in the second year. That would effectively doubling. More than doubling me entirely studio production of laws are different now instead. I haven't gotten over the Culver studios which is one of the ancient. Under Europe's studios that it's in in in the center of the old Hollywood network you've got a Renaissance because of that this video streaming of I think it prepared their recent TV. I am but principally in Panama okay and it happened Vancouver and then got used to be eighty duck is shared right now after getting hammered because they had some trouble with the TV production there about a thirty bucks sheer. But we haven't got a lot of life and that the public harassment because it's starting to be clearer. But they're turning things around and made a deal would abide stars I think in Europe Africa and has struggled with that. Incorporating that good now that are reporting bit on the let them forever. This is probably a great entry point to get into this doubt you've got. I'm not a good Netflix and Evan about business and less sweeping and I don't know but they've got that they can Huckabee positioning for some of it. Ask us as long as they're getting some of that massive number you would. Think that it helps the bottom line a little bit as a pay any dividend. Now it doesn't it doesn't say. Any any dividend at all it's only six billion dollar mark kept up a lot smaller than practical Smith Kline knowing this you know what we've been attacked a man who did just. Speculative idea product company. That just maybe you know I like everybody like throws stock at that couldn't double right you don't have the ability practice you're here and have a go at thirty now. It could double. Yeah well they're playing a very interesting and very quickly changing environments so I appreciate John's life from Zacks talking to us about GlaxoSmithKline. And Lionsgate the ticker symbols there GSK. And LFG got a thank you very much return John. It. Yeah two edged in place I mean you Tom I'm looking for real deep value of those two companies that look that way. And with those kinds of companies as John mentally you have to be willing to accept there could be some downside in the short term or significant downside in both case I mean that they're they are seriously have some downward momentum or at least. Lacking upward momentum at this point. So all the time that we have for this hour of the financial exchange you haven't gone and voted or polian head over to financial exchange showed dot com. Tucker Silva Michael Armstrong and chuck is not a from the financial exchange radio network. After a rare down day in markets yesterday markets are back in positive territory today with the Gallup. And relatively quiet day but things kind of back on that slow and steady track up that we've seen. Over the last year's U. It's you know looking at a sector by sector basis year only two sectors in negative territory health care and utilities generally thought of is a little bit more conservative and so. Still you know it's money continuing to shift towards risk on at this point people seem to be. Willing to pay for. Some of these price year companies right now and as long as that continues this market is gonna keep moved. It continues into it doesn't we have arguably the most important financial exchange poll question of the day up. Probably in the last six months or so I think since we did the object flee McDonald's one button today's poll question is what is your favorite Halloween candy. And we we listed the top four top four candies that we have there about what they're for it the mount Rushmore Halloween candy we've got Snickers. Reese's. Kit Kat. In twits there are no other Halloween candies that you should be giving out and wanna hear about Skittles and a warning about milky ways I don't want your butt plain old fashioned Hershey bars like tonight it's these four if you're not given these four out. Not do how we write ups are. No Apple's. Would back candy couples and I hear chuck. In this day and age and Iran I settled down the you can't do that note to stick it where we're given that he knew one off for how this here. You get a guy that wet bag at Keeneland get through scoops a key to walk and happy Halloween. Hope you like avocado to toast to head to the governor Purdue that avocado toast for Halloween this it's a record like. It will be edit your house in like two seconds some had a tree X. A well played. Head over to financial exchange showed dot com. And you can vote for what your favorite Halloween candy is the four options against Snickers Reese's kit Kat in twit I am on team kit Kat. Where we stand right now. The Smart guys Mike might deny myself far team Reese's since fifty percents however listeners agree with us he doesn't front runners. You with your kids know that you year you can even clear kit Kat. Into second place is tied for second place with two quick seat he just got nothing necessarily might NI in our listeners have a leak palates to yours track that is that is the fact. I'm calling on all of our act as a matter I'm calling on all of our listeners really easily to champion by the end of the day. All listeners. Team Kate GAAP financial exchange showed dot I hoped for when three is joking with candy corner omens joy candy corn trying to. Porch on what about it at any point. Those things off. That's that's it that's a tough one that's that's one of those things that gives you like that cold chilled it you know just kind of makes you shiver just it in peoples of the movement but yet America. You're like a horse and buggy yeah let's talk a little bit about Dunkin' brands they were up about 6% today. There's 6% yesterday rather on news of a potential. I out of my getting that right that's right so I mean Duncan has kind of been rumored to be looking to buy outs. Really for a long time me that kind of comment on the rumors that they might be bought out but. In particular right now and it's rumored that jab holdings is considering taking inched in Dunkin' brands jab. Holds JB holds Peet's Coffee. And Krispy Kreme would probably their most well known brand Caribou Coffee I'm Karen Brooke I'll be stomped down some some town coffee roasters. But really the biggest known ones are pizza and Krispy Kreme. Green mountains under the now to. Are cured in agreement under JO connect here and there are rights then I take that back you agreement would definitely be up there. But considering teeing taking them private obviously the shares moved a fair bit yesterday based on that news. You know presumably it would be neat to take a premium for those shares. I think it Duncan could use this I think that Duncan taken private could really have some money invested in two. Just focusing on their technology. And focusing on where exactly they expand to and not needing to worry about those court of the courtly earnings calls and this can be pretty huge for them. What do you think you mean they've tried so hard the last couple years to try to build out their menu because that's the big knock on Duncan is they're jammed from the 5 AM until 10 AM yeah. In this kind of quite like it there's not many people go into by bacon egg and cheese at two in the afternoon now and you know where Starbucks has really done well with those incentives you know I think they did things like a comeback for your afternoon coffee will you via have to rice added and all these different centers that have now. They don't do anymore but they got those people you know hooked on that afternoon coffee is I used to do when I'm working in the city I would you know I wanna go again the office for twenty minutes ago walk order star bucks and they really got people thinking about that and Dunkin' Jess has fallen flat all of that and they are facing. A lot more increase pressure from McDonald's and cafe where the thing with star marks is that it's become more or meeting place where you can meet up with you know potential clients are just friends in the afternoon hours Duncan Archer's dislike. And I don't want really meet here it's it's not a welcoming Mel environments. You know it's I would say it's not a welcoming environment but I think if you are looking knows it's still a lot I don't leave it ultimatum all welcome his knowledge no one ever wants to just sit down and hang out at Dunkin' Donuts for quite a bit of you your new Starbucks Niguel lake. Comfy chairs they've got Wi-Fi they've got you know music yeah I was essays starter is just a little bit more professional if you're looking to have you know it meets some meat business meeting or something like that when do that'd Duncan where I would add at a start I don't think it Duncan's not welcoming only that that feel perfectly comfortable to sit him down though. The current I think a lot he would disagree with you I think I wouldn't mind seeing Dan Duncan donuts agreement morning paper. It's it's little it's just it's it feels biz it feels almost. And it feels like stressful. Yeah emissions because everybody's in a rush yeah I guess that's not really Dunkin' Donuts fault but I'm not just different vibe there the environmental they've cultivated it's it's totally can you wouldn't go to a bar to get work done. Barca be perfectly inviting but you're not gonna get work done while people were you know slinging drinks around and depth that made absolutely agreed if you're going to try and meet some for business premium pitchers Starbucks over Dunkin' Donuts. Yep that that is definitely lacking on the Duncan's side is not a place for some hang out for a few hours and drink and eat there. Harpoon acquiring Ipswich based brewer clown shoes beer. And it is a pretty interesting move Tucker wanna talk a little about the senate earlier big beer guy. Have you had anything to cloud your previous I think like once or twice but I'm not really. An expert on them. I've got a couple things but I find it interesting just because we were talking yesterday about how Sam Adams is is re branding and moving towards cans to try to get the humble O'Neal's more interest in their beer. Here harpoon going on saying okay we see a good local brands that we might be able to grow with their distribution. And I like that approach yet you know now is similar to what you saw with Constellation Brands buying ballast point nicely balanced point effort. Nets supporting kind of a local brewery or are encouraging. More guest. And it's also way they don't have to do the R&D work you know that they're not going out and saying OK let's experiment with formulas and play around and there's say hey we've got some that we think is good and we're just gonna try to use our distribution network to take you to a bigger group of people. I'd like to see. More you know more of these kinds of deals for some of the bigger brewers' you've seen it. AB InBev bought goose island at a Chicago a couple of years back and that's been I think a pretty good move for them even though there's still. Having trouble you know keeping just normal Budweiser and bud lite sales moving. It I think you have to see a lot more of this consolidation in this in this industry has gotten itself so fragmented and out of control that I think you really do need to season this consolidation what I you know I'm surprised here. Harper is gonna continue to operate cloud chooses own separate brand. So I guess that gives you some scalability but not significant as if you're just take it under your own brand. Yeah I mean and I'm trying to think lake. So do we have any numbers on long enough to pull up on how many might lake microbreweries have popped up in the last five in ten years I've no idea you'd even measure that mean you must be. In you know fifty to a 100% growth rate of the next of that last five years of sleepers drop and I mean from a local. Prospective they'll pop up like a bunch as Massachusetts amazing okay so I'm now on. I'm on the US brewers association website now okay. And so in 1986. There were a 12424. Operates in the United States. A hall a 120 forces only to our state okay. Over the next decade stayed relatively flat in 94 was at 601. Every thousands from 94 to 2000 and went to 1566. And they come leveled off for the lot next you know five years. Ian 2016 there are 5300. Registered breweries in the United States. Yeah. 1980s. Yeah I think you and thank them all annuals for our own merit. Allowed yeah I mean it did totally taken Xperia. The financial exchanges live on FaceBook and YouTube watch Barry and Joseph discuss the issues of the day and see which one smiles the most. Is who's the financial exchange radio network. Oh. What are the questions surrounding tax reform is if only eight corporate tax cut is able to be pushed through. What's actual impact on workers' wages how much the people actually get in their pocket the companies are saving on taxes. Here to help answer that question is Henry her from the economist. Henry thank you for joining us tonight. Henry. With what we've seen historically with similar situations is there any data that bid gives us something that we can kind of based research on or we just kind of guessing at this moral us. Make the buddy that cool cut on weight is look at what happened. But I hate apple and you know I all in other countries around the world. And the problem with that they must warn you not that it is very atypical when or not what might happen but why out like but he. Abbate on back. What is it a weight right but all out and don't. From a corporate. Are a part of that article about where. So what is the White House saying at this point this will result and as far as additional wages and what are they basing that on what would study is they reference. Like that paper. What happened in the hall. On but at Whitney you you know I went whoa cut is that they used. More what I. And when he corporate and you it'll it'll when Batman. Back. Or what it that way that that they dot that that vote. Quote I outlaw. All the coal act out of wood on what do they could depend on our barn auto. Back on May oh. If you think about it. It is that bit about it. That it. Rated corporate or company that. It and another bank. I. While. On eat about it. Up coal mine of a deal that would be about this series. Oh. Like me and you know I development route but within yeah. Apple. Might. The corporation the one I know what. Is there another case to be made for cutting the corporate tax rate even if it doesn't have a meaningful impact on wages. Oh sure yeah yeah. And I had to all. Be directed that wait they call. Knight might be in the way that felt the weight is right there it economic right. It built. In. Eight US. I think the issue but why. That they at that. Back all that old is out there and made a call right. What I want you on which we owning a bite. It is done but it but there's that the middle law. That. Way on the co op bank ready like oh what. It's not they know what they're without. And a Y and Republican degenerate reaching all I like it at all all to point out though not. Don't wait. But what. About the. One of the criticisms of a potential corporate tax cut is historically been that when companies go about trying to reallocate that capital. As opposed to investing it they may simply increased dividends are buybacks. Which could increase the disparity of wealth in the country have we seen anything like that historically. Shall sit. On that. Team which is about. Money that. Bold thing by America corporation. And all that wall. Whistle blew in all the more I ought to what. They've trying to get money back by area off an. Army went. Going mad money I've met at a local. But it by about money. Is it Republicans Paul are right. At that when. Now. We operation holiday equal. To be touched. And and it it but that cherry. They're. You play in it and all the immune Batman. And the reason you'd expect that happened over the like apple apple I stored I'd be all apple acts in. Pat now and why he'd be more. Today is that more ethical and what happened at the mine anyway. I'm like well don't quite get it got it that bring that money back will be back it up and you happened in 2000. Gergen Henry thank you very much for the time we appreciate and thank you for the researchers did as well. Yeah absolutely that is Henry her from the economist talking about the potential for changes in the corporate tax rate always maintained. That. Eight tax at the corporate level. Is a tax on the partly on the gears of the economies on on the mechanisms that allow you to produce wealth and so. By lowering that as far as possible you'll have the greatest possible well. To be generated it doesn't address the question of what you do with that while once it is generated. Yeah I don't think it's okay you know I think he's right that the White House focusing on this being a middle class. You know raising income is a false way of thinking about it because it it. It made there have been no real research to prove that that's the case that's not a reason for not doing it exactly you've got you've got record numbers of companies. Locating their headquarters abroad because of the bad tax policy that we have in the United States. Address it that way hey we need to lower the corporate tax rate or we're going to continue to lose companies. Two in our foreign competitors because you know what in this day of technology it is easier and easier and easier. To do so and that's simple message just a simple just as easy as Italian you. But questions remain about whether or correction is coming we've got you covered every day with what's not and what's not from Mike Armstrong. Mornings at 1030 only on the financial exchange radio network. Joining us now to talk about the latest guide from Cushing and Dolan is Todd lets you estate planning attorney at Cushing and dole in the article as titled designing the perfect irrevocable trust. And Todd. Again I guess off the top people have some questions you know you hear the word irrevocable. And people get a little bit nervous about giving up flexibility in the ability to change things can you talk a little bit about how these trust to work and how they still give you a little flexibility. Yeah you know I think that. And super important because. An example of an easy example is a lot of people and and you probably need to shut that you know their home for their vacation home could be the most. Important but our largest asset in their right. Oh absolutely I mean for most people it's it's the biggest thing that they have. And and a lot of times they'll stay even if I'm not comfortable putting money in and I am not saying you shouldn't be you could put your investment portfolio and just look at from a homered and vacation all the work out a million patient home port street at the I got 850000. Dollars about that in the truck. And I are that meeting by saying you know what folks. You aren't going to change your life at all. You're gonna be able to live in those alternate vacation in the home you're going to be grandpa how's the future rent it or rent the vacation home. You're gonna be able to pay all your bills and you're going to be able to sell either one of them any time you want with no adverse. Income tax consequence. Which means you still get your 500000 dollar capital gains exclusion on your house that you're spelling it. And you would not start over that five you're waiting periods they ought to worry about that. And you can use the money you know the people from here and go to the Florida and buy a house in order in that same trust. And all can be done almost exactly the same as you do it now is it a little help from the trust me. So what you're saying is that in terms of ability to buy and sell property in the trust in terms of ability to continue using the properties. There aren't any restrictions that the trust is placing on it. There is there is no restriction use that bind so and I part about it once it's in the air. You wouldn't forget about the track is not doing obtain all my bills on my own personal checking account just like what or. And you know even if the pilot had returned for the truck you're not right in your home your vacation omen most of us aren't. And in that regard and I ended up and I forget about it. It's that easy when you're doing these these trucks so at least put realist. And these trusts the basic way it works you put the assets into that irrevocable trust and that S it is protected against Medicaid claims after five years. After five you're exactly right it is in fact I just got to another decision now yesterday I. From a client who had unfortunately done in the first match we did that truck. House was in the truck and he now on Medicaid and approved in the house is just got that decision yesterday he knew where the top. Now what really good news for the people not so much for me good news for the people. Outstanding what time we appreciate the time and thank you very much and double catch up with the soon Oca. Todd lets you from the law firm of Cushing and Dolan and we are giving away. The guy that we just discussed there's titled designing the perfect irrevocable trust. In today's October 31 it is the last day to get this guy is not going to be available after today this is the final day. That we are giving it away as it is the end of the month. And it is only available. Online suit today it's going to be taken down at midnight. Today on the 31 thing you need to head out there. And you go to legal exchange show. Dot com. You enter information you can get it all for free. Right there it's easy to get in the gives you all the details you need to know to make sure that you have the right irreparable trust set up for your state once again. It is the free guide designing the perfect irrevocable trust. And it's available only. At legal exchange show. Dot com. Talk a little bit about Netflix and house of cards. Netflix. Announcing that they are ending house of cards. Coming on the heels of the other Kevin Spacey allegations earlier this week. And that the first question is it do you think these things are related in any way shape or form. I have a second one which is you know how to studios tried it to navigate these situations at this point. I don't know how they try to navigate this and yes I think they're related and Alitalia is I also think that this is probably not the end of these allegations for Kevin Spacey Kate seems to be that once you have one of these cropping up. You have a whole lot of them that were never reported and then worried. What's gonna come out of the next few weeks and months in regards Kevin Spacey. And I mean really one of I would say one of the most awarded and you know famous actors of our time he's always been at a very beat a great actor and be very very likable guy. This and I think this a career killer for home I pisses you NASA I I think this. Could be in pretty much the end of his career. What's what's interesting in all of this is these kinds of allegations they seem to touch. So many people in. It in in Hollywood you know obviously we have Harvey Weinstein we now have Kevin Spacey. Previous you know you've you've had a number of people. That have been implicated. And it in alleged to have done. Terrible things as far sexual assault is concerned if if you are a movie studio right now. I don't know how you try to plan your schedule going forward because. As an example Kevin Spacey as a movie that's supposed to be coming out. You know who witnessed an -- movie too with Oscar buzz in this in the reads directed by Ridley Scott and this is not some in the art show to collect call all the money in the world and so. I don't. Think this is it's so complicated you know we have had corporation's deal with these issues and clean house and that's wouldn't happen in the eighties he stood -- to clean house. And make it very very clear to there. Effectively employees independent contractors whatever you wanna call these actors and producers and executives. That's no longer going to be acceptable and that they are going to be black ball from the entire industry's so if this sets. Keeps up I know that you say that in it's it's it's the right thing. To do but how we make. How do you find out who has skeletons in their closet or you don't like and and that's that's what I'm looking at his age so we can't and you can't figure out who's got the skeleton closet that you you set up the process to be able to. Have people in your in your companies that are going to deal with these sorts of claims and have the right reaction after the. Here here's the problem. Hollywood is a star based business okay this is not something where you have. You know claims agent for an insurance company who does something and hey you can move on in the machine goes on OK it's not something where you have a waiter at a restaurant or does something in the machine moves on. This is something where if you have a big name. It's it's a huge deal in beyond that the other thing. These projects are often booked years in advance his so sure but you've seen it dealt with with somebody like Bill O'Reilly I mean a huge star that but Bill O'Reilly is only going to show. It's an ongoing show that's not something where you necessarily spend the money already craft is that contract it can't and don't forget. Now if you have let's say that you have a 200 million dollar movie yet that you have two big stars and and you've already paid the you've already done all the marketing expenses and two weeks before that movie comes out. Something like this happens what what you do do you do you can't just say we're not gonna show the movie and party spent all the money but is it disrespectful to the victims. To show like these these Russian huge problems for gas studios because it's not something like you know Riley where you say an ongoing show we're gonna cancel we can get out in the contract yep you party spent the money. That's true hey you know and it maybe there's going to be something written into these contracts going forward for recapture clauses say if we're a free find out why scallions here closet and now we're gonna be read recapturing all these payments that we put to write it for the cost shooting these movies exactly is as. You see now this is that the way that movies are done in Hollywood there either incredibly low budget which hey you can write that often say okay great did you know was in this anyways doesn't matter. Or you talk about these big budget tent pole films were all the sudden. You've got you know quarter mile a quarter billion dollars out there that you sit there saying OK if you Disney here if you're Sony Pictures you sit there saying. Holy crap what are what are what are we doing this at Whitley. We have serious it is just off if it is a huge problem for the because he introduces all kinds of uncertainty so. I'm very interested to see studios' deal with this is as you say. They need to be proactive they need to have the right things in place to protect victims but they also need to figure out. We go about you know trying to you know build. Marketable franchise going forward and this could come at any one of our stars the F. I mean in your town about filming activists point 56 years out way before they release these films big big plan going into this so you're right there's a lot of sunken costs into these they're gonna figure out how to properly allocate another lettuce was Netflix is first original series don't forget that their house occurred Assange who has that yeah. I haven't I've watched past the second third season but I am sure it still has a lot of depth stories and go this this was the first thing that kinda got people interest to get. So it's done just like that mean they're gonna more more season but I don't think dead space is going to be in it at all. And up and the other night now it's right has got to score scramble lead a one more season. I think they might be canceling it. For one I read there they're gonna have one more season and then that's. Spin from what I read Kevin Spacey is not even on the set this. This is where. Netflix is gonna earn their keep it gives you look at those writers and you know of if you have someone like you Kevin Spacey is so forth okay he carried the show. Now the question becomes a case can we take the show to that same level with out him and let you eat you say no but. Gives occasionally the loss of someone who kind of dominates the room. Can actually result in more room for other people kind of move up and in taped a little bit of responsibility so this this is how. If you are a stockholder. You not necessarily you're not upset with Netflix saying oh what they need those years and Hussein. Okay now are gonna prove how good of a stock you now you're gonna prove what you can actually do. You know how it's. We're safer Netflix here I mean in house of cards is note not there you know this is representing 30% of our revenues and house of cards is not. The huge viewer platform that they have on here and there very well diversified as they are made in. In it speaks to the fact they've been able to develop all these different properties it and that's what you have to do there. Let's take a break and coming back Christen Wong from the New York Times do we talking about the subscription boxes for closing the ones that can be every month how you can use those. Try to find your own personal style that's coming up right after this break on the financial exchange radio network. Yeah so you're talking to a guy who pretty much has five different versions of the same dark suited wears a white shirt every day at work so why did you just start by telling us exactly what these companies are doing and how it's really shaking up the industry. It's pretty fact that there are a lot of different companies have come out and strong carbon that except probably the two most popular ones but the big difference between. Do you think between Al. The different types of services. Is there are truth subscription boxes where you get a bock bock a quote every month and you keep that you don't send it back so much maybe it doesn't bad or something like that. And then there are trying to buy services but I think they're probably a bit of more interest in business model that you are.
