This is the financial exchange with Barry Armstrong and chunks of tour exclusive look at business and financial news affecting your day your city your world. Stay informed and up today about economic and market trends plus get breaking business news every. And now the financial exchange with the very Armstrong and chunks so I. We are receiving surprisingly. Good news as it relates to. Sales and earnings. And as a result the stock market is continuing. To rally hi everybody it's very truck with you here. On a Tuesday after a long weekend three days with no trading but we're starting off with some gusto today Gallup EV four points. And it is slew of this story that we start with last week we talked about how. Burger King may end up buying pop buys looks like it's gonna happen 79 dollar fare. Yeah it does seem as though it is going to be happening there would be about a one point eight billion dollar deal. First reported by CNBC this morning in it does appear. That this deal is going to end up going through here not entirely unexpected as you mentioned we have talked about this last week in typically where there's smoke there tends to be fire on these kinds of things so obviously. You are seeing this happening here and you know from here. You know you you typically looking somewhere around twelve to eighteen months probably that is deal to close it's not too complicated so might be out while you're along you know it might be a little short but you're still talking probably nine to twelve no okay. And obviously you're gonna see some job cuts on the back and I don't anticipate any changes on the. Franchise things I was surprised to see the news coming out of Wal-Mart. Same store sales. In the US rose one point 8% for the quarter that's this tenth street quarterly increase. Foot traffic rose by one point 4%. And e-commerce sales for Wal-Mart route 29% of the speed jet dot concert kicked him. Yeah I think it's it is most likely be jet dot com influence there and and obviously. Pretty decent quarter for Wal-Mart are that they are having to spend more which does. Yeah it does raise some questions about how sustainable this is in the long run because typically your marginal cost on that type of thing. Goes up as you get past the easy to reach customers so it is something that raises some questions for the long run. They are seeing some success with that at least and that's something that you want to see from a retailer like this that has been somewhat challenged by each count. What they have been and I tried using the jet dot com website again this weekend and you're right it is clunky. It's it's not as user friendly as Amazon I tried it trying to login they make you putting your password with the Amazon and you don't have to do your fingerprint yup. Injury and it's just not as user friendly the jet dot com or app that I'm referring. No it's it isn't quite there and my hope is that. Now that it's internal with Wal-Mart hopefully in the next couple years they should be able squared away but keep in mind Wal-Mart doesn't have a strong track record of success there what if if I am a Wal-Mart shareholder what I am pushing it in if I'm a big ship via what I'm pushing that board to do. It's been whatever you need get me that was Amazon engineers and bring the mean. They cried out once they tried that once out and California but they didn't bring in a tech guy now they have attacked because they they hired the guy that was running jet dot com. We in you know part of the problem is is that the way that Wal-Mart built out its entire back and moves into it was entirely built to try to fulfill. Delivery to its so worse her you know right where's Amazon from the ground up said look the most important thing that we're going to do is figure out. How to get things to customers and that's what what's always been important to its yet have an outsourced all that matters had a way get things the customers. Wal-Mart is trying to have. Trying to turn this ship and it just takes a long time when that administrative. Expenses at Wal-Mart up three point 7% in the fourth quarter cost of sales edged up point 8%. But again same store sales that's when I was look at up one point 8% Home Depot. Holy cow that you know if you have questions as to whether or not the housing recovery is real. I can tell you from personal experience I was out looking at open houses this weekend in the city of Boston with my daughter. And you'd walk into an open house. I walked into one open house acidic as a unit takes two seconds to look at Condit up. That's a talker of the group that sits on how many people come through fifty people left to open house that's small it's you you're seeing like 75200. People. Any starter homes anything like that yeah it's not so it's a lot of young couples your age that are walking through these -- in we're looking at two bedroom condos. In the south and in in back bay. And they would and then they would tell you. Knee in in order for you to get this this condos listed let's just say hypothetically it's listed at 800000 dollars a two bedroom Condo it's a thousand bucks afoot but. Got a bio Padres in in the back there the south and 2000 dollars a foot but it's at they'll tell you flat out you generally have to bid. Up to 5%. Over the asking price you have to weave in the inspections and yet the wheat your financing contingency. If you wanna win notes. If this knocks it end and it and you save that right you say oh that's crazy the prices are too high. But then you look at it in DC law it would cost to rent that unit. The rent to still more than the cost of caring with hope Condo fees mortgage. Insurance they pay the cost of carrying these two bedroom condos shoes looking. Are running. You know 4000 dollars a month maybe 4500 dollars a month if you're paying that much in total mortgage costs and insurance the red would be more than. The the police were I originally lived in Boston I was when I first got out of college. I was about halfway down Beacon Hill we had a would a two bedroom there. And two bedroom with nice roof deck and everything in your throat to we're paying 18100 dollars a month each of that no total while. Okay. That same apartment I just pulled it up just see exactly like what the estimate would be that estimate for the right there and I again have anything I don't have any actual data on it. But the estimate for the rent there is thirty. 400 a month. That's a long time that's and that's a seven and a half years. It tells you what's going on with the the real steamer it's gotten out anyways Home Depot the reason we were talking about real stays Home Depot reported. Fiscal fourth quarter sales and earnings that topped Wall Street expectations Tuesday providing further evidence that the housing recovery still has legs. The retailer. Said that the announced a 29% increase in its dividend that's nice if you're shareholder. And shares are up 3% of looking for the same store so here it is. Comparable sales up five point 8% increase in at number two we're just talked about Wal-Mart how they're happy with the one point 8% same store sales. Home Depot's same store sales up five point 8%. I mean it's a big number especially at my Home Depot. Is a 180 billion dollar company to dual. Five point 7% year over year sales increase that is outstanding day they beat their projected top spiked two point 1% you're doing well. There's huge numbers there and we'll get lows numbers either later today or tomorrow with the latest that. I think you probably see. Pretty similar statistics. Coming out of lows which makes it bodes well. I'm big into my point on all of this is it bodes well for construction of bodes well for the roasting market lot of deferred maintenance and it's getting. Plowed back in Allan and Pete were doing the work on the jamming I get some stuff but on start deal more can that I got one room I'm gonna be replacing some wars and and things like that and you know that's all coming up this year so it's you know on the kind of in the same boat have been in my place for you know 34 years now and hate that some stuff that I need to do that I haven't done at this point. Two thirds of Americans are not putting money into their 41 K plan I found this shocking absolutely shocking. But then I learned. That about 85%. Of small businesses and my son owns a small does he owns a landscaping business yup. It is now before game plan. Yeah and if it's partly on the businesses I wonder if you include things like a traditional higher rate of what the numbers of something it's not employer sponsored but something that employees. Can contribute to. But it's it's not entirely surprising because we've we've seen all these studies where you know 40% of people couldn't scrape together 400 dollars in case of an emergency. We see the balance is where. You know people are trying to retire and only have 70000 dollars to their name and they spend 20000 a year or so they don't have the amount they need there so you go to work for a company like. Well we're talk about Home Depot now even if your part time they're gonna have a 41 K plan yet. But you go to work for a small company which in most people work for small companies we forget that in Italy but here's the things or someone such as ourselves and we don't have a 41 K so we wouldn't factor in this even though we offer different plans. Yet the simple you know is are we wouldn't be considered in here what is interesting though is remember that over the last thirty years the transition has been. From those defined benefit pension plans to Ward's defined contribution plans what this is telling you is that. It as that transition has happened people just not been good about taking care of their own retirement. What I think you're gonna have a crisis I think in the next twenty years. You're gonna see my generation baby boomers enter crisis mode they're gonna be eighty years old and completely broke. I don't think that's an water gap that unlocks an accurate our poll question today is do you concurrently. Contribute to a 41 K plan. The way to participate in the polls go to our website financial exchange showed dot com. Do you currently contribute to a forward Kapler now many of you have planes available work you know there's a lot the article goes on to cite chuck. That a lot of people have them available work but you think about when you get your first job you are broke right you just graduating college. You've got student loans you've got a car loan perhaps you've got rent and then all of a sudden you're looking at they say would you wanna put 10% of your pay capital right you can't afford. Notes it was when I first started doing mine it's still probably took me about six months or so I think. To get started in even then I think I was doing fifty dollars a month just it's all I can handle the talk to they got to get started doing to start small kind of work from there. Pay up next heard talk about the Boeing plant in South Carolina as you know. They rejected the unionization vote that occurred last week we will be joined by Christopher drew. From the New York Times to talk about why why did the workers reject that unionization vote we didn't fully understand you're gonna get the answers to that and much more. When we return. From our insurer match dot com studio. You've got Korean Chirac. Stood on the financial exchange radio network. We've been offerings he ran for almost two years now two years and his have been successful spent extremely successful we've. Offered this product to really target hardly in the hours were still collecting checks in paper form in this day and age. And the purpose of zero needs to really bring everything online meet electronic but more importantly. Have a piece edit and forget it so what's a landlord hazard tenants that up on and really there's nothing that needs to be done until the leases over. The rent is automatically drafted from the Tenet's account can you choose the date of the month does it always the first of the month or could it be and there that's a sign attendant on the fifteenth could be the fifteenth of every month yup absolutely so landlords that's the initial date. Whatever day of the month that is. Christopher drew from the New York Times you've been covering the story about Boeing in South Carolina as you know there's a vote for unionization. There are last week it failed and Chris is gonna help us understand why hikers for Dario. There are a good bit. So how many bowling workers participated. In that union vote down South Carolina last week. About 2800. And about having 4% of them voted against Jordanian. We surprised. Not really they had tried the union tried a couple of years back and had ended up suspending. Election and advanced when it knew it didn't have the votes. And I think they were trying to get now. Before. President trial there's a couple of openings on the National Labor Relations Board who probably appoint Republicans were. Who could make it harder to unionize I think they wanted to give it another shot before he here. He got to do that. So help me understand why a worker their make and what Tony when dollars an hour in South Carolina. In the same workers same machinists noting in Washington are Macon 31 dollars an hour. So I'm in South Carolina why did I vote against the union out of maiden at 50% increase in my weight. Well if you if you could get yeah that same contract I think. You have to keep in mind. That. One of the reasons bowling even went to South Carolina about seven years ago. And they built a second assembly line prevent new 787 dreamliner plane was to get cheaper nonunion labor. So they can have leverage against the unionized. Workforce in Washington State. Which has gone on strike in the past and the machinists union. Opposed by going to sit decisions certainly respect to open the planet that Carolina and they wanted to. In Puget Sound so borrowings have been able to. Keep in front of workers at South Carolina an idea that the union never once you guys even have suggested. To begin with and so how much Kenya trustee. The union and even though it workers in south airliner in less than one in Washington. You know they look around him and South Carolina and America a lot more than. People and you know friends and there's another count and South Carolina so. That sort of are. That makes sense to you though Chris for a mean just I'm thinking on the five year guy in South Carolina great memories gambling. And I know like get 31 boxer at least a higher we need to buy join the union. Yet 74% of the workers said no thanks they eat or they are there's got to be. This is what what is the problem that unions are having getting across the workers has eight the you know people it's not just in South Carolina this is happening in other parts of the country. Exactly I think workers just scared you know I mean we've had. Several decades of unions have had trouble for decades been with globalization and outsourcing animation. You know state they're competing. With each other to have the cheapest labor climate then industries they're moving to you know we have the sun belt phenomenon before and and with the right to work state companies are looking for the cheapest labor force. And so. You know people are scared so a lot of people would rather have a job than. Then. The most money if if they think there might be your rest of the Japanese making more money one of the things that didn't get much attention and has borrowing vote and the other leverage Boeing had. Is that another year to. They're gonna. Start to. There against their plan introduced a new middle sized plane because they're about their competitors and beating them in the middle sized market and they got to decide they'll have a competition where that we put that plant. So if you're in South Carolina. You know if you don't unionized at this point they got a huge leg up to get that plant and a lot more jobs. In the area so. They in your thinking hey my cousin who's out of work might be of the get a job with the new Boeing plant that's been higher. 5000 workers. Exactly exactly and now Bo what's interesting is kinda. Has started this inconsistency. Whereas president come. You know on the one hand he wins. The election partly on the strength of blue collar workers. Obviously everybody union workers who voted for him because it they also felt they were left behind by it you know economic growth and more prosperity we've had they haven't recovered since the Great Recession. And yet. At the same time. And a lot of economists say. You know point back to the days when unions and blue collar workers relatively. You know made more money than it was back in the days when unions are stronger. But the same time you know a couple days after the union vote trumped what counted. The Boeing plant last Friday and and North Charleston, South Carolina. Because Boeing was introduce things a new version of the dreamliner and he went there for that. Ceremony and so. On the one hand he was celebrating the new plane and American jobs and exports but at the same time there's. You know in effect celebrating going right after they had beat back this. Union attempted. Attempt to unionize could have lifted the wages at the very kind of blue collar workers he wants to see and make more money. You know crisper I I don't talk to as many union members as you probably do but one common message that I hear from guys that are in unions is they feel like leadership doesn't do much for them. You know they get to jam. They feel like union leadership leaves them hanging out to dry. They pay anywhere from two to four hours worth the wages every month just to be a member of the union. That's that's the gripe that I hear Harold that's consistent with the messenger receive. Yeah I think that I think that's a fairly common I mean we've had our union scandals in the as. Now in the old days of the Teamsters were in bed with the mob in the union leaders strip and unions. And I think that stemmed even then there's going South Carolina case. You know. There was there's like 800 dollars a year or something do's and even even with that amount of money going list. Prevailed. Later workers here are. Spent 800 hours. You know a year parties and what he's gonna get Ford. I think there's there's skepticism. And means somebody's. Workers who work in a plant like this banking airplanes in month. You know they're pretty independent minded people that are kind of skeptical can do people there used to working with their hands they can. Pick any thing that they kind of look at and union leadership is just another bureaucracy. That take their money you know and they wanted to. Do that in about an album. Yet another empty suit Christopher you know right there are quite well thank you very pressure time for action. Thank you Christopher drew New York Times and I think unions and the tough road to hoe here in the become very unpopular. With the American worker. Well they have an aside from and we've detailed it went the the fall in the decline of unions over the last fifty years where. You know you've gone from a position where. You know UN I think at one point the F thirty to 40% of American workers and unions down to now I think you're somewhere hovering around 10% or so. Many think about the 400000 workers that are union guys that paid in their pension plan that had their pensions reduced you know they can't think that. You when that happens time and time again. Those guys you know they're in the seventies now or in the sixties they're telling their kids don't draw any union. As I get screwed by the union goes to be fair it would have happened whether or not they were in the union anyways now that the debate for another day. They when we come back. It'll save ten to 15% I'm not clear on this is the footage stored on the cameras that sent to the insurance company automatically. There if it's stored on the cam. I would do it if it were sent out I'd be paying more just because they say why you drive and you would think that they were just be stored on camera and they if you got into an accident your insurance company Billick well let's roll back the tape yes so if there was something like that I'd have no problem with that. I've always easy to speed. No I just drive too much so it's you know one of the things that Jack up your rates is driving a lot and I drive twenty to 25000 miles a year so if it's sending that info back it's actually gonna hurt me. But all it faults for his behavior and enacts that we want to know what happened. I've got no problem with the so anyone asks. We'll senior citizens be getting a rate hike in there automobile insurance and the answer is yes and let me tell you why. You know on certain year in a poke fun at needles but it. The second highest rate of texting and checking the Internet while on their film is people over sixty. We learn from your mom and dad now we learn from you. Just it is what is is there a point candy crush I don't know that that I don't. I aren't your parents' house an airplane candy cross all the time car insurance rates are gonna. I just and until you. Have. A slowing down to you reverse this you know back in 2011. Which is that six years ago 52%. Of consumers. Had Smartphone. Today it's 80%. A Smartphone being. You know and anything guys that likes that swore to me my buddy is a plumber right geeks and I'll never get the Smartphone. He's got one and you know what he loves has brought Wenzel business he he loves his Smartphone ease ease. Talking on his phone to lose grants and me me me the key with a video chat and all that any. People. These Smartphones are amazing devices they're they're they're they really are you think about the transformation of society as a result of the Smartphone. But. He had their doubts. While it and I'll tell you at some point someone asked to get serious about coming up with a solution if it's not that hard to people are dying it's it's just that we've. We've pushed against advocates are now of what a fun in the passenger seat I wanna be able to. There are ways that you can deal with this and you just say look if I detect that you wore in motion at that speed on the ground can't use. 77 forces chuck speaking for myself I often use my Smartphone as a GPS not checking mess up and that's fine I did I didn't say well if it is that we should have a cradle for. He's got a yeah much right now the the I bought one from my wife she's very appreciative about one for myself. He put in the cradle and Jeff you went up there you can charge simultaneously gallery can put Leah I ordered our depth I don't have any problem with people using it for GPS and ten bucks Tucker it sandbox yeah a box and ends. But I won in place your order today you have a thirst. Like I can't tell you how many times and the worst part is what people try to do is you'll see them and they've got their hand down at their psyches are trying to hide their texting and driving. And because of that there looking like straight now actually as opposed to look if you're gonna text and drive please hold it up in front of where you're looking. You don't what did you tell the right here my son. You know don't put it down by where the viewership is that doesn't know anyone any good it was the upfront about it and then you get arrested and hopefully I mean really as you said look. Treated like a do you want what you get arrested for that fine first time we get you know some kind of Big Five second time your license is gone gone now called today you know I eat I don't know that. You need to have jail time with a bullet. Loss of license. The insurance companies and ended the ones it. That really crackdowns V they already are the problem with the way the insurance companies address it they raise everybody's rates so even though I'm a good behavior. But my behavior fine. I'm gonna be paying for the bad behaviors where. If you leave the insurance companies were allowed to somehow say oh. Talks between build it shock is texting while driving we're gonna triple his insurer or rent a drop them all together. You know what you need is something like gay Madd Mothers Against Drunk Driving that came out and they were the ones who push for all the changes to view why you're right back in the eighties you you need some organization like that to come out and made a concerted effort because this is just batted the season it is just is bad and it's only getting worse. It's 978 I got a 25 dollar fine because my GPS was blocking my vision through the window while. Like windshield or window. Who windshield you put it off to the right irregularly sets but I do mine right it's off in just a little bit to the right. And I put itself on Centre here dash err well a little bit to the right the program is so I have a clear line of sight I wonder if he had it may be right in front of in front porch it was like left. By the window you might have had it right by yup blocking like Amir saw it here I'm you get I've seen that a couple times. There'll be is this this is C a problem that's not gonna go away and you're right it's gonna be some advocacy group that says hey you know. What I would be ticked off about it. Because I'm gonna be paying more for my insurance and I know my car insurance premiums are going up and why. Because the it's. Because people are taxing other than me. Yeah you know certainly that's a reason to do with that you're darn right I'd like to say avoiding estate taxes may be the number one reason. And I think it's important for people realize that that with the state taxes federally being high. You can never forget about the state in the state estate taxes so yes there actually isn't what you should do is. I'm assuming before you pass away. You know you should have these trusts in place in if you create these trust whether their revote global war irrevocable nature depending on your wish. We are still going to have buckets inside and just. Quickly the pockets that are that are created when one dies are designed to actually. Call today to book your trip 80255. 38. 802553881. Britain Matthews from the Motley Fool joins us to talk about a couple stocks today Brendan thank you for joining us. According Barrett. But let's start first with company called lying technology. About eight billion dollar company can you tell our listeners in on what exactly it is that they do. Yet so people might know this company from there it is relying set them. It's basically a stand out arc the year or that article martyrs that you used in place or brace is because essentially there there'd biggest product by. We do we like it because we think that they've got a lot of opportunities grow as people. Trade in for the each year are cleaner and better looking don't turn out clear plastic liners vs medal race. The what do you like this company at this point year. Also if you look at the population of developed world. Get either about 75% of those people. Slightly crooked tee at about a billion people. The number of people who get thirteen straight and are treated is only about ten million. Each year there were looking at a huge opportunity for more and more people to. How their how their teeth straightened and as the leader in the clear. A liner to pick of the into the wind and the wind technologies benefit. What type of competition is there in this market. Or that the biggest competition there's a couple of thinkers they're not getting treatment that's probably the biggest issue the second issue is. Is is basically people going what battle races. In terms of similar. Companies to them they're really good market we don't there are other companies like smiled Iraq but into alignment is far and away the leader they've spent. Twenty years building up the technology to bring Aaron. And relationships with doctors and get a big lead over two batters of other part corners. Very good let's turn now over to a company that we've talked about some other folks I think in the last couple weeks that's Borg Warner. This is a company that is pretty tight in. Chew the automotive industry but can you talk a little bit about the company for our listeners who don't know lot about them. Does their eight part supplier focused on drive train and engine parts. We've held at every major auto manufacturer route they're the biggest customers are our Ford and Volkswagen. And really what they specialize in is part that help you would fuel efficiency. That it biggest product group which is about a third of their selves Turbo chargers. So they're really focused on. Part for your for your engine to drive train and improve fuel efficient. And where do you see I guess with with oil having come down so far in price is that still a primary need for a lot of folks or are they actually struggling a little bit there. So. I think. I think the long term trend is towards fuel efficiency having more more cars are. More fuel efficient I think what people will be used Beltre that fuel efficient yuck to get a bigger car respect. So you can. The big fuel efficiency as but make your car more that we can have sort of a bigger car more features more like our that are. Anything out there that's potentially. Holding up their business or that could be an issue over the next year to. So the Big Ten and in in the short term is what's going on with trade deals. Specifically NAFTA that you're about 35% of their business outside the US. And I think there's a lot of fear among investors is why this quality copies political arm burning. That trade restrictions are out prevent them from continuing to grow. But they have a lot of doubt a lot of flexible capacity and we think debate airing. I react to whatever trade deals come up. And switch. Between countries bear manufacturing capacity. Very good Brendan thank you very much for joining us today. Yeah much pride Brendan Matthews from the Motley Fool the two companies that we were talking about there. Borg Warner with a ticker BE WA. And whole line with the ticker AL. G and in a line was the dental company young and full name is Align Technology out. And they again they make guides those are envy is aligned braces that you know you don't even see anything when when you have meant did you Wear braces and I did yeah I had the old metal ones. Yeah you're on a fixed income your gun in salary and Allison your wife come Tillman says oh by the way little Johnny. Needs you know 5000 dollars worth the dental work and it's not covered by your insurance no it's not that the only thing and dental insurance. If ever looked at the map on that it's not very good it's it's pretty much terrible if you ever need anything done other than the basic cleaning. They pretty much don't cup got a set of settling have to pay like 180 bonus pluses across I think you're almost better off. Not having dental insurance I did the math I don't want to sit in the life why do we have dental it's that it is not good for us really people make in any money on it is the insurance company. Called to. Cushing handle we're talking about motivation to create in a state plan here's one how Todd can somebody. Ensure that an ex daughter in law or an ex son in law. Is not going to take half of my child's inheritance when I die in the event that they got a divorce. You know I don't think I'd sit down at a client meeting. In this doesn't come rate guilty do you bring it up Purdue the client for. I think it's a combination of ball but but once you mention it if they don't mention that always think about after death well I know and when you mention it. They jump on. One might spell out who is here at lower divorce is so prevalent. I guess that's the pro and here's the worry right you guys you both you leave each of your children half a million dollars right. And then three years after you're gone they get a divorce you're gonna lose half a 500000 dollars on a good rate. And so what we try to do is inside the trust again another family reason to do is they play a non tax reason to do and they plan. And and we inside the trust we create shares for the children and we have independent trustee if you will making one decision only. And that is in their sole discretion to make it distribution to the child. Or to the grinch in fact sole discretion provides all the creditor protection that they need from the divorce in the future. I don't mean to lecture but it's a good idea it created state plan keep your assets in the blood line. I've been worried for the last thirty days that the stock market is getting a little bit ahead of itself I'm looking at the gala being truck. It was. A couple weeks ago where we were celebrating doubt 20000. And 21000. Dallas is literally right around the corner and the Dow's 20732. Are my fears unfounded. I don't think so no. But I'm nervous Nellie I'll tell you that so it's look this is a market that by just about any historical metric. Is a little bit overpriced right no can I please explain what you mean by that. Historical mister Heatley. He taught him priced earnings ratio price to sales is if you look at you get a basic things like the price to earnings or price to sales if you look at what they call the cape the cyclically adjusted price to earnings ratio. That's another one that has grown in popularity the last. 1015 years and it's showing its overvalued right now this market by just about any metric. Is showing that it's probably somewhere between ten and 20% overvalued depending on how you want to look at but. We keep on. It keeps going up and to be fair. Interest rates still tend to be at historical lows even though we've come off that bottom. We're still low by just about any type of long term measure wouldn't answer that something that does make stocks you know little bit more attractive there. And what do you do if you being you just. EE Geithner tax refund right and its twenty grain and you wanna invest. Dollar cost. Dollar cost average speed up Miller put that term is look don't put it all in on day one you break up in the sixties to break it up and twelve and if you want those talks a month for how long that is. That way hey you're doing gradually get the best overall price. And it's going to. And you know kinda bring some of that risk as. You know leave we talk about why the market's rally and I think. Part of the reason it the market is rallying is it to anticipated. Deregulation. And I'm gonna give you an example right now and give you an example where government is getting involved in regulation in an area they have absolutely no right to be. In it has to do. With a federal agency. Beginning an inquiry into auto lenders use of GPS tracking no explain witnesses before we. Before I go on my idea my tyrant my tirade. I am a tie credits sports for I am a tyrant but I go on tirades. This is federal agency. Is going in approaching banks they've written to banks saying hey we understand that you're putting GPS devices in cars so. You you have a friend shocked who's got really bad credit maybe they went through divorce they electorate job loss. They way they've updated their credit is just horrible. But he needed the car to get to work right up until they find a bank or credit union or lender of some sort. That will loan them the money to go and buy car now admittedly the interest rates are going to be competitive the interest rates are going to be. 121520%. Up on that Karl. But the lender. Goes to the dealer whether it's a used car new cars irrelevant. The lender goes the ambulances we're gonna put this GPS device. In the car in it's it's part of the deal if you wanna borrow money from us. This is this is part of the contract do you we're gonna put this device in the car. And if you don't make your pain your payments due on the first of the month. We're gonna sending email on the first telling you were gonna disable your car. In on the second of the month we're gonna. May gets in your car won't work so you might have your car parked her friend's house and eagle and started but because he didn't make the car payment. That car won't start. I I think that is just Smart lender like I've I'm saying to myself this is terrific because the banks are making money on that deal. But you're friend who has bad credit is able to buy car will be no I'd otherwise wouldn't be able to. The I think that looking at this from the perspective what they're doing is kind of skipping over the real issue which is wise the bank making that loan in the first place. Well you know who were we'd go to decide whether bank makes well right. They get by have a if you would if it stops we're talking about loans cars that are being repossessed yeah that Soledad that means that they should not have made that loan in the first well I'd I don't know BCI like the idea because. What happens historically what happens with these devices people make the payments. People say well geez you know I've got so I'm not gonna go out to dinner tonight not gonna go to a bar. I'm not gonna take my wife out on that day because if I don't make that car payment. They're gonna disabled car yeah I think if you don't like the idea well like I think. It's you know if you've got to bank credit if you haven't paid your bills or you're looking to buy a house and if you crappy credit nobody would loan you money. And they shouldn't write. What's wrong with them loaning money I think this is just really strict discipline. With somebody who perhaps in the past hasn't been a. A good race of the two things that the the feds are looking into one this one is whether or not it was properly disclosed which I do think look if you're going to do this you got to tell someone that this is actually I guess or some instances there were some case we're like people didn't know that our they they're claiming to have not tried by. Well I am just. I'm go I'm going by what here so I can't just make something up yeah but I think the other piece. Is making sure that that information is only being used. For those specific reasons and now that you're tracking where people are actually going and things like that because of what you wanna do was track where people are going after they've bought a car me. What what what he'd do. Like now they're tracking it so they can turn it off in their tracking so they can repossess the the only way that I think this should be used is in such a case where hate. You you are behind by two months or what at 12 months what evidence of being eaten at that point it's okay we need to find the car we can turn it off but it shouldn't be active prior to. I don't know why why why would be active before I have a problem I'm just telling you as an investor if somebody came to me it's a very I'm starting a fund. And minimum investment is a million dollars. And we're gonna loan money to people would bad credit. It's a little guy like I know there's a lot of money being made that's the yuppie like you are. Bad person to make money on if you have good credit yup right if you pay your bills on time. Nobody makes money and you like use your credit card come bill comes in you pay the darn thing off to get two points right is so they people who pay their bills. Are not where bankers like to land where bankers like to land are people who bad part is bad credit people they can charge when he. So I guess my only question is again what we're looking at this from the perspective of their being a problem like if something goes wrong. That's the only time that I think this system should be turned on why the need to be tracking and before him. Like it if everything's going along swimmingly why the need to track bloody need to know where the car. So give it so I'll give you that but I I went like this is the government coming in and saying. Well you know we think it's unfair because here's what happened. There's a woman. Who had one of these devices that her daughter is sick. Right her daughter thick inches of fever she needs to take her daughter to the hospital. She didn't make the payment so the card didn't work. And so they eat that that's an example right where they did. In and gave the liberals are saying well ELD they should've they should be doing so well you know what. The if you regulate this I won't investment. What that you need to make sure there's some basic safeguards that what happens if there's a stability issue which we know happens on things like Carl what if there's a billing issue and all of a sudden someone thinks they haven't gotten patent attorney car I think he could work through that issue made him an email but I think he said please don't ever worked anything with. You'd think you can work through billing issue with an email look you send save if payments due with the date today 21 up so your car loan payment is due today. And they go to auto drafted from your checking account. And for some reason the banks screws up right so we will it's not a consumer which we know happened surrounds the bank that makes a mistake. The lender the the person with a lean on the car. Then sends an email to you say hey we didn't get the 300 dollars from your bank and we're gonna turn off your car in 72 that's what that you build in some basic standards like hey it's not the first time late yet to have yet to miss payments in a row or something like that. Is we just do it one random weird stuff happens sometimes I agree Betty and by appointees did it EE I and you start regulating. Right if you start saying and I'm one of the month. On the one with a million dollars it's gonna invest in the fund. To provide cars for people with crappy crap. Right if you start making all the rules tighten and you can do this and you can't do that and I say screw it all investment money somewhere else. I'm not going to be into. Who's just last week when you're talking about how the world is awash in gaffes in the world is awash in oil. And now I read a report from marketwatch.com telling them my gas prices are really 280 a gallon by memorial. Could it opened up a little bit just because this is a time a year where. And it amazed me that is always I guess happens the same time but yes it's scheduled. But he tend to have a little bit more maintenance work that's done on refineries and things like that and so obviously. Capacity drops down a little bit so what you typically sees gas prices tend to rise this time a year anyways just because of that. And what you might see here is in concert with OPEC cutting production more than most people expected them to be able to myself included. You may see gas prices and a bump it up a little bit. In the next two to three months prior to that big Memorial Day kick off for summer now Nancy had just about the time when erased the boats in the water and didn't ready to drive to the cottage. Gas prices yet this this study is showing that you might see gas prices up to an average of 285 a gallon. By Memorial Day I was driving around the other day and I still see a bunch to fifteen to twenties in that range. So this would be. Net somewhere around the twentieth 25% bumping gas prices right California. They were with their pain at prefer not to there there's a reason I'll have on. East Coast maybe he paid in the California. Made the top income tax rate and to California's G thirteen or 16%. Either gas tax news through the root for me everything's expensive you know top tax rate is thirteen point 3% income tax yet. And that's on top of the what 43 point 7% federal income tax. Frontier well over 50% and and that doesn't factor in your fight him. That's another six point eight and as a factor new Medicare that's especially if you're in there you're talking any top tax bracket in California. All in your paying somewhere in the ballpark of 70%. Naw I Z fears the fighting you mentioned the six five the Mets aren't going all the way Tony five. Is selling her perfume like crazy at all places at Amazon.com moved up to be one of the top sellers in the last couple days here let's just needed to prop up. It just surprised. It is a little bit surprising because he would figure that a lot of trump supporters probably wouldn't be so supportive of Amazon and I I don't do you. They may be the range rightly get the extreme. Trump supporters might take that attitude that most people it may be it may be at reasonable. With people like me. Are addicts. About politics one way you know they can you you follow it you lead into the election but the election's over you get over in one. Now I've never Bork oddest or because Paul and nor have -- somebody asked via FaceBook last week you know would you let politics. You know. Wait you're purchasing. The young news there in Canada and care has made in China starting to change a little bit. And yeah and yet I think a lot of people to say look whatever gets the best price for the product I need not think that's what most people were typically looking for community about that's kind of how we ended up with Wal-Mart now. You know Wal-Mart home deeper look at Home Depot did local hardware right lumber yards on the amount that's on me he used to have. But there would be local lumber at least double look hardware store in our town and people go there because it's much more convenient. Any storm a couple local on lumber yards up in the New England area you've got a couple upon knowledge seacoast inn on New Hampshire we've got one knee in the there's a couple of and it's not like past thirty years and I'll know it's just all those places just got eaten alive by the home Depot's Yahoo!. The world each one be reduced computer programmer employment. Up by up to 11% since been a big debate. You know the H one B visa program is it good for Americans or is it bad for Americans and we've heard both sides of the argument I TV talk to a tech worker. Bill scream bloody murder about H one B visas will tell you it's terrible depresses wages but that if he talked to the founder of draft picks and use them as an example right they love the H one B visas they say hey. He a lot of our workers are people here on H one B visas and they they bring a lot of creative talent to your table. This study seems to indicate that and in this is done by university seems to indicate. That H one B visas do in fact deep Presley that's yet to be fair this. Mean it was done by two guys by the name of John bound in Nicholas morale of by University of Michigan. As well as guar of con of the University of California San Diego those economic programs are about as it is again you know University of Michigan. I don't know many people know this but back Ian the post were actually the pre World War II where. University of Michigan was effectively. Beat the center of a lot of the economic development that was happening in terms of statistics and afterwards it's where a lot of the best statistical economists. Tender resides just because their programs are so good. But this program this a study has not been peer reviewed yet and the model isn't that they've built. Does not account for policy changes so it's showing that. Yet there's there's a pretty strong likelihood that you saw some reduced employment wages but we can't quite get everything together. Toys 'R' Us recently laid off between ten and 15%. Of their corporate employees. At Toys 'R' Us when you have young kids. That's where you shop but the problem Toys 'R' Us are having is their same store sales declined 2.5 percent in the United States. And they declined four point 9%. Overseas. This must be an item Toys 'R' Us must be suffering from the Amazon that. I don't even know for its Amazon I'll tell you what I think it is is a lot of toy makers are realizing. The smaller independent ones at least. Are realizing that the try to get into a big box store like Toys 'R' Us. It's so expensive in the margins are so thin that what you're seeing a lot of people do right now is opening up their own storefronts on line where they don't have to go wholesale they don't have to pay for shelf space they don't have to be competing. And they're able to be much more profitable in that situation and I think a lot of toymakers are simply saying. We obviously the big guys are still in Toys 'R' Us but a lot of the other ones you know you'll be your high demand products they may be avoiding it just saying look we can make more money doing this on our own. Yeah I find that shopping for the stuff on line. I enjoy more because they give you ideas so right because I don't have young kids anymore. So if I go to new Amazon and I say hey wanna buy gift for an eleven year old girl in my nephews he yours all right so I can say.
