Stay informed and today about economic and market trends plus get breaking business news every day. And now the financial exchange with the Mario Armstrong and shocks. Is no reason. Able to expect that patriot fans have recovered from their Super Bowl hangover I was sure that Atlanta Falcons fans have not. What a patriots it yeah is say you back eight back in form more and its energy today I feel. Miles better today than I did yesterday what time did you go to bed last night last night meant. 830 and two outs in bed by nine talk to him and the try to get your rest ready to go. Hey I don't know you guys watched Jimmy Kimmel I don't ever watch him. I know Kimmel Fallon. You need. Fallon who's who the Tonight Show in who did this interview with Jimmy Fallon. He had a great guys I don't know with I haven't seen this yet Hughes interviewing his last night Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy Fallon correctly thank you. He was interviewing. Andelman. And Belichick. He had in months or in both of them at same time Oka and by the way I've posted this video. To our FaceBook page financial exchange shows dot com. I've posted the video but what a great line he told Julian Edelman that he should retire. And open up the chain of restaurants called cattlemen's catch my seafood restaurant chains up in the editorialized about how good alignment adding that's. Matter of the thought of that himself murderer you always got writers he's got writers have like a member Jon Stewart had 20/20 515 point now. That's it right I thought that was the terrific. But both ballot check and Andelman of course back in Boston there in New York last night. Nestle coming home last night actually so I was coming up on 93 or via and coming through does that relate on the way down. All these Boston Police cars it was team coming back only result in team having down the ever Owens opt in and everything you know only used this article is traffic stop. Going north. I mean traffic's always stop at that time and days so that you know there wasn't a whole lot of movement anyway is that dumb question. Them Clinton with a parade is today with days start 11 o'clock you know in the at the duck boats on everything and should be good dates it's that little. Only weather's not looking great out there operate I have never been to. A Boston sports victories here no one's. You don't want to ever been added via the 2013 Red Sox it was on the weekend it was a nail on Saturday and so I was able to lot to do that went that was pretty cool if that was the as the team after the marathon bombing and everything that so it was you know it was pretty cool and I'll tell you Mike Napoli I still don't think it's over from the a four years later he's still bill. Well we asked a poll question today. Which is are you going to the primary and our web site is financial exchange showed dot com if you wanna participate in the poll. His goal and let us know. I've never been allows it to work in his presidency. But he could have given us the day off. I wonder how many kids are playing hooky there's on. There are eight hole and expecting a million people I've got I've got buddies with kids that they pulled out of school already committed to and that no one's doing anything to one of our co workers is taking it took the day off Malcolm and yes taking her son. To agree it is a fun time really is a much crowd guy either but it as well I was at a good time. Now at any rate is our show streaming right now. It is very yup at least that is how people know it. Thought they were on the radio streaming on the radio and organized post on the other videos for now that's a leader you know you just. Con first ever over time Super Bowl attracts 111. Million people about sounds like a lot this'll. Be watching a sporting. Big numbers the fifth most watched Super Bowl. Ian history just behind the 20121. The second time the giants beat the patriots it is a little bit less than the the patriots win over Seattle two out two years ago which was the most watched Super Bowl went all time. With 114 this came in at three million viewers last which honestly. Per game that wasn't that exciting through the first half. Is pretty good here's something that I found interest in them you know what the single highest. Market was in terms of market share for this game in the US. Somewhere in the south many Pittsburgh. A higher percentage of TVs in Pittsburgh were tuned to this game than anywhere else which just proves that Steelers fans really wanted to rub this one in the face of Brady including. Yet it. Pittsburgh had the most TVs by percentage watching this game New England was actually eighth the Boston area Atlanta was third. New England as he yeah terrible. That hard to please a New York would have been up there even mind the thing about New England there's probably an awful lot of people that were home that were out at bars and so forth so all those TVs are on in. Yeah I mean ordered a bunch people of one house or don't want it lately I I'd fifteen people might none of those ten home now though whereas in Pittsburgh. Well you're not going anywhere if your team wasn't. Advertisers it pretty well five million dollars a spot. And imagine if the game had continued to be a blow out how few people watched right down to what I just dropped off just think about the numbers like safety into the third quarter that was 43. Every everybody in New England went to Pittsburgh numbers and Donna. Brett in not in Atlanta. The the town did at 57 share which is again here I'm sorry 57 rating. 82% of TVs in pits in Atlanta were tuned to the game Pittsburgh was the highest with a 57 point nine rating. Boston came in 54 point three with an 81 share. And then it's this weird mix you look at the other the other cities that. Did the highest ratings buffalo was the second and Norfolk Virginia was force which I guess you probably have a lot of botnet masters transplant there you know working in government or something. Richmond Virginia something similar. But then here's what I don't understand. Number six. Milwaukee. And but sad Packers fans and what senator I don't monologue I guess yeah there's probably nothing to do there. Minneapolis is on the list too so I you know that probably goes and but then it's all in a Providence Boston Hartford all those rounded out the top ten. We have some data that I came across earlier that pertains to. Viewership of sporting events and I gave that article to talkers and try to get a guest on it it. NFL. Sporting event viewership is on. Is on the decline rapidly on the decline in yeah are you gonna get back to trying NFL's making changes next year. Would they don't they aren't there and pretty serious negotiations to reduce the number of commercials they need to try ridiculous and number ads are up and they're also trying to do some things to speed up the the game plans and miss the I'd I'd say the commercials alone would be they issue. Real quick I don't know if you has watched Celtics game on Sunday at 2 o'clock dividend but yes yen. They went to a timeout but instead of cutting away completely from the game that just minimize the pitcher to pitcher. Of the timeout happening on the court and their commercials airing at the same time lot of chatter that you might he got from the NFL makes sense out. I mean if I wouldn't wanna like go lawyer from the TV fitting cut out from a personal perspective. I would rather see advertisements on jerseys with no commercials like they do and soccer yeah over an hour for I'd rather see that then commercials like imagine if you could get an NFL game done in two hours in which you could. If you didn't have come easily could get an at a ball game done in two hours easily two hours only deepens only about eleven minutes of action looking put a bunch ads on the field to put a bunch ads on the jerseys I don't care you know you can have you know rock sponsored by chick filet or whatever. Just do it and you know speed the game in theater find out who stole Brady's Jersey that haven't yet. They haven't yet some idiot. Like seriously. Oh yeah with a couple apparently this happened two years ago also somewhat to Brady's Jersey ended up getting it back. Now can I guess this is a pretty common occurrence for him after Super Bowls but. Don't give Tom Brady's Jersey arguably at all right like what you do. Exactly what I would do what was it the was the Gardner museum in Boston channel that art stolen that you know that float around somewhere on an ark black market and I'm sure that the Jersey black market to. Bedard and will boost when it'll be it Easter egg I just wanna hear the eventual story behind. You've got to believe that these you know there interviewing vocals from all the locker room attendants right it did those are your prime subject the suspects are sure not gonna. Huckabee eighteen I would think we didn't know all I highly doubt that I could see grow. Out doing it is a joke of them like pulling it out today and do a guy gets I think that that the that there will be very chronic move yes and like Brent gronkowski on the front of it so that no one else can use that I could totally see him doing that now. They will we won't be watching we will be going to the prayed that we would like to know if you are going to the prayed. Our website address is financial exchange showed dot com I don't think many of our audience members will be going because they're all working. And in discount tuning in as the work along the day. Hey we are going to be covering the story in the next segment there's a lawsuit that has been filed. And it's reed and leave it to the denial of education loans to illegal immigrants now here's what's going on you've got. 750000. Students or young people that were allowed into the country under the deferred action for childhood are rivals that was president Obama's initiative back in I think eleven or twelve. And now they're going to college in the ticket student loans so there's a group that is suing. To allow these undocumented. Immigrants or illegal immigrants. To get involved and we're to talk to Stacy Cali New York Times next about that topic and more from our insurer match dot constant. Breaking business news daily only here. Hi everybody very Armstrong here from the financial exchange and I'm joined by Jay tool who's a senior vice president and leader bank. And leader bank has an exclusive. Program for those of you who are landlords here corrupt collecting rent from one attendant for a 101 tenants. Zero it might be something you want to look into Jake talked to us about zero how long has it been around. We've been offerings he ran for almost two years now two years and his have been successful spent extremely successful we've. Offered his product to really target hardly in the hours were still collecting checks in paper form in this day and age. And the purpose of zero needs to really bring everything on the line between electronic but more importantly. Have a piece that it and forget it so what's Elaine more hazard ten and set up. And really there's nothing that needs to be done until the leases over. The rent is automatically drafted from the Tenet's account can you choose the date of the month does it always the first of the month or could it be that there there that's a sign attendant on the fifteenth could be the fifteenth of every month yup absolutely so landlords that's the initial date. Whatever day of the month that is. It will be the same date every month that'll be collected how much does it cost the landlord to set this all so it's absolutely free if the landlord banks with us OK so if you're idea landlord and you have your bank account leader saying you get this is you rent service for getter for free. Ask you have a bank account elsewhere will still provide a service for small monthly charge. And if you ever decide to move your bank relationship over waive the fees that's pretty pretty simple it's pretty cheap. And it's a great product our landlord perhaps the league club. Lot of our it's called zero rent and the website Ford is WWW does he rent dot net. Or you can call leader bank at 8776917900. To learn more 8776917900. On top of breaking financial news by becoming a member of public carries per game log on to financial exchange dot com and sign up today. The headline for the article is suit challenges denial of education loans to unauthorized. Immigrants the reporter on this story Stacey how Lee from the New York Times and she's good enough to join us now. On the financial exchange hi Stacey Carey you. Glad to. So please do tell us the story of myths he correct use five years old when she entered the United States. Yeah I can't go in Kenya and Guatemala that by her parents. I've not been back in my ears for the area of the country is Governor Palin ever aren't. As part action but I don't quote program feed back up program. Seen the label is tighter and I caught the currently here at the universe in California at Riverside. And nice though she comes in when she's five years old back in 1997 am assuming her parents brought her right. Has there it and this is all part of Dak know which use. President Obama's initiative what year was that and on how well the rights of tweet while he creates a backup program. Wouldn't as has president trump indicated as to how he's going to deal with the Dak Emery is 750000. Yes quite a large number of people they are obviously quite nervous about what I'm going beat you on the campaign trail that. Buried currently wrote the program called illegal and and he's now. And elected is it more magic about it but has. All that but apart who worked out so those under 50000 people that really scary time. So now these kids are in college some of them are are in college. And they lack the ability. To borrow money and a lawsuit who's filed the lawsuit. To submit without Paula it's not that you I'd been out front page that prevent other pilot error while it is low. I. We. Meet our. There it is. Granted that they can I'd let it. Overwhelming amount he did it for college. Are. Looking in our panel in to our college and mark. It an art for the third in new work print option. By the in the eight allowed people aren't we need programs and cool allowed him to our program. But at the very act or it's. And it didn't end up happy EU's. So who are The Who has Mitzi suing that she's suing like what. Discover. Right you are getting old I go into the light. He. He applied for a while ago he. And play in the is about as ignorant and I and then mentioned but then that allies. President. Put it in Britain and so aptly and he electing that emanating on her act and act like the ball issue like to work. That's what. The other is that you know our heart it's been. Many of the you're out. Without are working are earning money directly. Is to establish a government while. And those policies to our ball. OK so. Bill lawsuits in filed on part of pro immigration groups against Wells Fargo. For not making loans where the federal government won't make the loans either right. So what the I I'm just thinking now as a stockholder. In Wells Fargo wouldn't a stockholder and institutional stock or older even an individual stockholder I'd be looking at these loans saying well. What is the likelihood of myth see being able to pay back these loans. Right and that's the open. And the new program and as though people are able to make it where. Pat. A UK. Generally in the early dialing pound. Pretty similar to that would be the traditional. But I expected. That when. The bank heavily concerned about IPC. The way. Very good very good Stacy thank you very much for your time and thank you for the research on your article Pritchett. At Stacy tally New York Times. You know checked it this is a problem you think about how do you manage. The deportation of 750000. Undocumented. Individuals this this young woman hasn't been in Guatemala. For twenty years. No has hasn't been in Guatemala forged or years is working is trying to get her education. And you sit there and he's able of this is the exact type of person who you would want to keep right in the country because they're trying to contribute they're trying to. Build a life for themselves. And that is as a stockholder in the bank and on and Qaeda Odom a guy I'm looking at this announcing and the way. If well if violence stock in the bank I'd be I would want them to make that loan I wouldn't. Why not. It's it's somebody who's entered the country illegally you don't know if they're going to be deported right so. Think about the risk associated. With that under reading that lol well I guess the question becomes how much does that affect their ability to pay the loan back right Ian let's say. She does get deported to write and she's back in Guatemala what is the likelihood. Of her being able to repay 20000 dollar student I'd say it's greatly diminish but again these loans are typically paying or the people taking these loans are typically paying higher interest rate which you know typically offset that risk that's how banks typically manage risk there's so. If I'm a shareholder I'm sitting there saying look as long as you're appropriately valuing that risk which that's the big question is how do you value. That risk. Is always your appropriately valuing them at risk it's no different from any other race it's no different from. The risk the life insurance company takes on someone when they usual policy there there are skydiver and it's more expensive city you have to value that risk. In different ways that that's kind of how I look at it if I were shareholder in one of these banks this. The hornet's nest for the president to try to address they eat you like the VV. The travel ban met with. Worldwide protest can you imagine if he started to try and deport these 750000. People I wouldn't try to pay I just think it's if it's it's eight absolute. Nightmare it's easy to write it would be a I mean that the scale protests that you would see there what I think it clips anything that we've seen to this point would would you say the ACLU generated for donations when we get these 1000002 weekends ago did 23 point nine million in normal year they do three before they did six times what they normally do and a year you know be yeah I think he leaves this alone I hope he leaves this one alone. In goes after the more pressing issues more pressing issues being. Tax reform but I'm hearing now tax reform I want you better not till next year. Which Natalia that's that's going to be very disappointing to a lot of people who voted for and here's the thing if you get things like tax reform and so forth done then it builds you the political capital to then go after. Other things on your agenda that Hillary and controversial exactly because then you can go to someone and say look. I delivered tax reform like us that I was going to and here's something that I'm looking to do and can you get behind this where's otherwise you're just starting with this it's well. You give me all stick and no care the problem he has. Chuck is if he gets the economy going. Rate corporations are going to be screaming for more workers. They're saying hey we might need we need these workers don't doctoral that was allegedly you talk about the demographic problems that we have skewing older right now. Lot of these undocumented kids they're younger that's your new influx of workers to fill the void. They when we come back we're looking at British Petroleum and GM they both reported earnings how'd they do we'll let you know. From our insurer Mets dot com studio. We're doing tribute today based on Queen Elizabeth the Second she ascended to the thrown 65 years ago this week. Were doing trivia about things related to the British monarchy. Who is first in the long I mean to the throne of England are next in that might be better way to. But the question who is next in line to ascend to the throne. England and the question at the text number 68680. That's our Texan Regis simply. Respond first in his first winner first listener with a cracked in two wins 25 dollar gas card who's first in line to the throne of England. Is it. I think this whole monarchy things just weep. They they in this day and age. To have it king and queen and prince like in my I get so it's just strikes me as being very. Range. Melamine a candlelight it. You do and it doesn't do anything you know it's just kind of air it that there they're treated. Like royalty Japan as the same thing. Now you know I don't the Japanese emperor doesn't have any power in their society at this point but is still be off a figurehead for the country yeah. No news it's weird annually BP shares down 4%. Trading at about 34 dollars and 24 cents and you know they the of managing their business as best they can. Price of oil hit them hard mean he. You you know to remember it was one year ago where oil was trading at 27 dollars a barrel today it's trading at 54 dollars and yen. And this is a company that in particular BP tends to have a lot of higher cost operations a lot more offshore and in place that are difficult. That you drill. And as such they tend to struggle a little bit more in situations where the price of boils lower. Then a company like ExxonMobil which has. More deposits and easier to find it easier to drill areas and so BP obviously struggling a little bit here they still narrowing their losses. When they're all said and done in terms of what we call the replacement cost loss that's based on the average price of oil so. They're getting into better financial shape but. Keep in mind this was a company that it was worth 14050. Billion dollars and it it takes a long time to turn that ship and I think they're finally starting to get there. But this is a ball. In the roof. Dividend on this is over 6%. In a lot of people's Euro are justifiably concerned. As to whether or not the company's going to be able to maintain their dividend. An analysis of the company would indicate that if oil averages 55 dollars a barrel to 52 misquote. Illustrating 52 dollars a barrel. If it stays at 55 dollars a barrel they should be able to support the dividend goes back give it averages. And if if all this I knew that a massive decline in the price of oil back into the thirties they're troubled and I think he had a problem. Yeah they they certainly do if you see a decline backed down there. What would cause that either shift in demand which I don't see huge downward shift happening I think we're kind of on this gradual flattening right now or. If you saw a ton of extra supply come on line. And this is something that is interest in to watch as a risk I was taking a look. The other day actually yesterday. At the Baker Hughes rig count yeah and rig counts in the US continue to climb right now we currently have 729. Rigs operating. Compared to. Less than 600. Where 158 rigs in the last year so you've seen. About a 25% increase in rig count in the US it still is below the peak that we saw 34 years ago. But you are seeing a resurgence there. And I do wonder where you end up seeing oil capped out for the long run if it ends up being kind of in that fifty to seventy dollar range you know wouldn't be surprised if that's the area that we shouldn't from. Well that. Statistic. Really settles the speculation. As to where we can afford to pump for years we do know the answer to you we you'd hear that. You know he had to have seventy dollar oil in order to pump and now we're learning that rig count rises at fifty dollars of. Cost or come down a ton on any of the new kinds of drilling and you know it's it's been something that's been huge to seek keep in mind though. We are still. Way way way way way off. V the highs that we saw on recount war Tenet 2010 through 2014 range you go back there and the total rig count then at that point. We were no worth of 18100 rigs okay. Today we got 700 that are operating now so we trend is the one where they are more the net trend line trains moving back up at this point so you start to see a rebound there. On the other big thing is that. Which interest in Seattle this is the number of natural gas rigs actually continues to decline just because they're getting so much more efficient it. All the increase pretty much on the oils now. One and that natural gas is trading at low prices well. Yeah will it in you don't have that many dedicated natural gas rigs anymore is all the fracking and everything kind of works you know in concert there are so it's it's interesting to see. These trends here but you are seeing some additional investment coming back into US energy. GM shares are down as well GM shares I own this actuarial BP is well should disclose that GM shares down four point 6% they'd been on quite a run but they announced earnings disappoint. Yet they have been in this comes there their previous quarter they they had a great quarter stock actually rallied pretty significantly on that. Going from the low thirties up all the way is high is about 3838. So a nice 2030% rally. In the last couple months. Little bit of a pullback here just as you had currency effects that really played in two. GM's earnings year how to that end up happening while the dollar got stronger and any cars they were selling in China overseas elsewhere unfortunately. Weakened a little bit and so they just came in a little. Weaker than expected there. Another company and I think we have to be genuinely concerned as to their survival. And that is seers and on the don't care now. They're down again today I am looking at the chart and chuck they're trading at six dollars and 37 cents a share. In the last year they've traded as high as nineteen dollars a share and they're having a great deal of difficulty. Borrowing money they're done. There is they're done at this point the air. In order to ensure Sears debt right now for the next five years. If you want to insure ten million dollars of debt costing four point six million what that's telling you was that to get that market is pricing in a 46%. Chance of default. In the next five years when he gets that bad it usually so. Why would the stocky and be trading at six dollars. If there's a net value is based on the real state they only something like that you could potentially see some kind of and that is the speculation folks like if you look. If you if you look around the world Sears has some leases. And some real estate value. That is grossly undervalued and I think that is the play here truck I think that's what's supporting the stock prices. Bill have but you have to wonder what is EC years leaks worth even if it's in a terrific location. With the absence of retail shopping or the decline of traditional retail shopping one has to ask themselves what's the value that weeks yet. It it's difficult to see who is who would want that space because of the decline of big box retailers has been one of the key themes over the last five to seven years. When you deal with something that's in a mall like that I do wonder if maybe get someone who comes and says hey can we turn this into something multi purpose potentially. Me or something different you know bowling Alley with this in that you know things like. But those are kind of one off instances there it. I mean it's it's difficult to see how much this company's going to be able. To return stockholders if they do go bankrupt just because they're liabilities are so significant right now but key money cup he's only worth. 645. Million dollars or you know their debt problem will reach ahead win. Vendors refused to ship. And I'm not sure that far away in terms of years eventually says look we just don't know we can pay you and vendors start saying what they never say that they just don't pay. Rate so yeah you know all of a sudden near Samsung is getting paid for the television's number. Levi's is not getting paid for their blue jeans. At at some point if they stopped paying their vendors that's when they hit the wall I still can't believe the stock rallied after the election last year now. Wouldn't go to this stock was trading prior Q was the election last fall was trading at 110 wait. Okay then it rally all the way up to thirteen thirty was a 20% rally. Because everyone was gonna go back to Sears now the Donald Trump was president. And then no one win he just had a miserable Christmas season terrible. And they're selling off their brands they as I read in the story here they're selling off more and more ten more. Which is their appliance diehard brands. Sears home services it's apply her hair business seers auto senators think parity move the craftsman brand I think that's gone at this point so it's Stanley about that to what he had just like what is. This has been a company that over the last decade has been so horrendously mismanaged him vets. I mean again they were when when you look at them they were one of the biggest. Big box retailers in the country this was a company. That when your folks grew up with seniors I grew up on your very that was not long ago now see the air the air prying gaze though. Where you know back in that you know the seventy Brittany prepare even like whenever we needed if there was a lawn mower this year's appliances and Sears like that. It's it's where I like I don't honestly know it's if it's where I grew up getting all of our our arts is an effort. A murmur drawn on that early to mid ninety's have so yeah that was my parents do you guys remember the Sears catalog Turk now that was a big thing now. You know lately that the world is changing and some retail if you look like get a a Costco. Or BJ's they they've adapted very well right but then other retailers you look at your JC Penney years years. My gosh that the list goes Macy's I mean they just they are free fall. Just terrible execution that that's all it is it's they didn't adapt quickly enough and we know one business that typically kills you and retail it takes longer know which he has been on the decline now for 1015 years so it takes a long time there. But in every industry if you do not adapt you die we saw that in tech with you know digital and Wang both big employers around here from in the seventies and eighties what happened. Didn't adapt. You know we saw with Blackberry technology ray didn't adapt to the iPhone and look where they ended up its if you do not adapt as a company. See you got the CEO hall of shame rate me you know the guys that run in this company via the about the job Lawson. You know in the disruption in likes. That occurs as a result in Sears just next on the list evidently if hey coming up we will be joined by air and bush from the Motley Fool who got a couple stocks for you grab a pencil paper and we'll also have the answer to our trivia question. There were talking about I'll Live Nation Entertainment correct. Bullish or bearish on the. I am bullish on them. I pay I think when you look at lightning union bank would have to recognize that it is the category killer especially when it come ball thing. Concert and it meant is that you literally everything on their business that. I'm 60% of the US production market and don't take it that there were at over 80% market share among elect has production. And on so many of the venues that are used and it manages the economy the top artists. That are out there altogether. Like me has really built that business machines with incredible it competitive advantages and related to why real. Sort and I think that. That it that the concert market it there's about 10% and you elected pretty remarkable when you think about it I think that those quickly. It doesn't occur that quickly and much of that is international. And that the huge growth opportunity for like me. Especially as today. Are able to acquire a lot of the music festivals and other big production that are out there they by majority stake of those businesses and then went. Capital. Cranked out a distribution and replicate. That at all around the world and make it much more profitable as they viewed about. They really are brilliant machine at a business what very long runway and really how competitive candidate. Aaron I believe was either three or four years ago that live nation bloc Ticketmaster and and pretty much merged into the goat to place for concert tickets. I know there's been some talk that you potentially have some not you but that there's some potential regulatory concerns on the antitrust side of things does that give you any pause on this one. Now it doesn't it mean and that is why I mean I think when you look at that picketing means there there are a lot of that's all you're insert like near our upcoming it is this problem. Is that America is growing it still. Is providing a lot of it and he knew people especially. International. I can't. When you look at it and ticketing industry overall you can really divided up and the UE that you got that primary and secondary market. And right up Ticketmaster really is that especially dominant in the primary market so there's a whole other side of the big inning industry. I mean it regulatory. Britain maybe. Maybe are there to some degree but I'm not you're about that. Errant ways the company not profitable on a long term basis. Shirt that I think. When let me in their financials are actually a bit accomplish is you look at you know the net income of the company it. It tends to be young crop of that a lot of that has spared depreciation and amortization that I'm an Indian working capital that when it went and picked at. There's this company and actually generally passed well and that pat coordinated broke records further bury past generations. When it comes to the actual acts that thing they're law. Yeah looks like it's just some funky counting there in terms of however things realized so. Oh -- bush from the Motley Fool is talking about Live Nation Entertainment the ticker on the if you wanna do a little bit of research on your own. Is LYV. I was surprised to hear 10% growth. In concerts big I'll. And that's a big number well that's I guess now for musician. That you really have to go on tour in order to make money because you'll really get he'd. For years we've always been how they made their money is always Turin but now it's it's more important now but it's always been where the real money is just because. The record labels would you know own the contracts and so forth and it's always been if you want to make and real money as a musician and you've got to be doing much even the really high they guy you think about somebody like Adel yeah she that. Top musician in the world that hurt Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga Lady Gaga up there I mean there's. There's W I take a bill that is but. So even somebody of that. Stature. Can't sell enough. Albums. To make a living so adult would sell enough albums to make a living she would not sell enough to make eighty million dollars a year election. Her album sales my guess are probably. For someone like her when she comes out with new stadium guess she probably makes 57 million did hear that but shall make another 75. Yeah all three are major indices the Dow S&P and NASDAQ cities and intraday records. Over the course of the morning thus far in terms of the sectors that we're seeing leading this rally right now. Your consumer discretionary seems to be the strongest sectors wells industrial and technology. Wears you lagging sectors. Energy down a bit as oil prices have come down as well as a couple of yet BP report. Overnight in their stock selling off on disappointing earnings there and telecoms utilities so little bit of a flock. Out of safety and in and some more aggressive stocks or growth oriented depth and prince did not have a will and neither beaten 60%. Of Americans that I find this staggering. 60%. Of Americans don't have well if that includes me. Yeah you should know why. I have no wind to give anything to late yeah I'm married yet romantically. And I know what lake literally I'm thirty have no Ewing and house it's pretty clear how everything works there's only one person four to go to right now. I don't have any Brothers and sisters and I don't have any kids while he went for I go to is my wife or your parents while it go to them because it's the younger players. Yep that's why he would have with paddle out that you don't want your your parents to fight anyway I don't think it would happen now. No again I have like this is the thing I could include people like talkers not even married Mike Tucker does need to well. I'm an Xbox I could get some things that upset if I get dibs. All right Mike you'll hear us you'll real property you own a condominium but but again everything would go to my spouse were after going through probe. Will still must go through probate now. You know you don't think you need to will now once they have kids on the I'll get one but at this point like with no kids no Brothers and sisters like there's not many choices for who it's gonna go still seems like a lot of people walking around with. 60% I mean it it it is that I'd be curious to see what the percentages are by each new you know wonderfully 30% of people over the age of forty dollars and dollars are talking about. 42% of US adults have a well. So adults is what that eighteen point one which the official definitely if it's eighteen it's still steadily to Wheeling your twenties while little windy Unita will. As soon as you have kids you need a well or few or if you get married and have siblings you needle. That's what I would say is your wife had an excellent. She. How how my ass it's gonna go to her siblings. They have no claim on myself then. What if she does. What's left you with me well yeah and Shiite near konduz shield party economy and now a little. I got everything figured out there I'm I'm I'm on top of Vista it's a staggering number it is stagger. Again I I'd love to see it by each because again like if there are you know 30% of people over forty and don't have a well that's a huge number. For that but if this is just including like someone who's 22 years old and does not well then. I would argue they don't win. Power producers oppose legislation. Helping the millstone nuclear power plant. This is a and I'm not a story that's gonna continue. For many years going for you we built as a country. We built a lot of nuclear power plants back in the 1960s. In the 1970s. These are old power plants that are inefficient. And they are very expensive when compared to natural gas plants. Yeah and pretty much you have four different power producers that have come out and they've said look the state assistance that Connecticut is giving to this millstone plant. All it does it drives up the cost to businesses and residents they're cheaper options out there they were lower cost safer options. And so by continuing to subsidize this plant look all you do is driving up costs for people in the long run here I tend to agree with that. Approach now you think nukes are gonna go off line are we gonna see the we've got one. In Plymouth Massachusetts this one is located in Waterford Connecticut. Are we gonna see. More and more of these nuclear power plants going off line. In are they going to be replaced by natural gas for the next 5060 years I would imagine gas is going to be replacement the problem is it's sort it. You know it's so difficult to get these plants offline because there's it's a long process first double. And expensive it's expensive yet take all that waste somewhere and we don't really have anywhere reported at this point you know there's no one's a central area we'd tried ability you can mountain out Silvia of odd that it consistently get shut down. It's it's very difficult shuttered nuclear plants once they're up and running him. You know it's it's tough noted the other program Clinton plan in Massachusetts. I believe they just extended its operating like for a couple more years after they'd said it was going to be shutting down. So it's easy you know there are real problem the lack of in juniors to work on things right. Is nobody going in that you like if you're an engineer rate your scientist you can go into the fueled nuclear power plants why would. It's the sun's setting industry. The wind farm off of block island is operating at full capacity after repaired now. It was built the components for the wind farm in block were built by General Electric. And evidently one of the workers left the drilled it. In one of the turbine groups. And its group the whole pulling up but they've been working on repairs and like a doctor Levy explanations patient costs now that or the tournament. That is that this is expensive the lately the only they're counting on this and this is the first we in part this. That the company that built this wooden form. Is also now trying to build one off the coast of Montauk in it'll be a much larger when the one up block island BT if you have a chance to go to it's worth it. But the this was. Basically the an experiment to see if they can build one an opera. With wind farms designers and am just pacing what do you read scientific terms. The cost of maintaining. There's a lot more when you compare wean the sole right. Solar has an absence of moving parts as a means. To beat these darn wind farms require me. They do require maintenance and in particular the offshore ones do have higher maintenance cost because obviously got to take a boat to go out that he can't just you drive up on either car by school or something like that climb in one of those ladders up the back to work on I don't wanna do that. Is that that's that is you most terrifying job in the world if you're asking me like. Is the windy a hole right yet you would build wind farms in the windy places you know if they think about it they got a feeling of where are always things that I don't wanna do that it's not like a radio tower that could be open a common area. But yesterday they had issues with that one turbine and they've been operating the other four. All along this time even though that fifth one hasn't been operating but they are getting some replacement parts in that is going to be up to lock Pasadena. They do it'll be very interest in two. Just to see I wanna I wanna see how it works is the one off a month. Yet that's gonna be what I know this one was only five but turbines the one on my target thickest point five or thirty it was larger. But it is also going to be fees in China they're gonna do 25 or thirty right away. But I think they had the capacity that successful to increase that dramatic falls so actually yes it was going to be thirty miles off the yuck coast there. And it's going to be fifteen turbines is what they're gonna be built dean yeah if that surfaced the first phases and isn't it a phased in I believe so that I think they're trying to get the option to add an additional 45. If it proves to be successful so potentially up to sixty turbines. I think that. And that is. Another pretty good place to put it Connecticut. Lost General Electric. General Electric moved its headquarters in 2016. To Boston hundreds of executives have left Fairfield Connecticut and are in the process of moving to Boston or they've already done so to build a new headquarters. Now the groundswell has started for Aetna. To leave Hartford Connecticut where they have been since I believe whose 1853 think about it Aetna. One of the largest insurance companies in the world is being headquartered in Hartford Connecticut since prior to this global war. And now they're thinking about moving their headquarters. To Boston so we asked the question why we're gonna be joined by Matthew Ridder. Matthew Ritter is from the Hartford house majority leader he would talk to us about Connecticut and what could occur is that going to lead why are they gonna leave. In what is Connecticut and do. Perhaps to try to sweeten the pot to get them this day. That's what our next topic is from our insurer match dot com studio. He's from Hartford Connecticut he's the majority leader in the house I'm Matthew welcomed the show and thanks for joining us. So what's the latest that you can tell us I saw this story in the current last week about potentially. Aetna leaving Hartford Connecticut and moving their headquarters to Boston Massachusetts. Look I don't have any more update then what you pyrite about it and we for different things Myers at an article in the Boston Herald just this morning that someone sent me that you know talks had cooled off. It helped in Massachusetts and had to what I can tell you that and that has been our efforts in Beijing get history and all my conversations with no fear. Their top officials they see a teacher Hartford and a strong strong into the city. And so you know look there he Aetna and police 50000 people across the globe. At 6000 Hartford. They're gonna expand output per. From time to time are gonna look different options. But I don't think that this sort of stayed listing view war that this is a done deal literally be hard for and I just I don't share the sentiment. Not today but I do something by the so ensure that this is this is major. Decision it will mean with that we in part for at least they have not told us that in any way shape or form in the attic. Matthew had have you got any concerns that the business climate in Connecticut. Has become unfriendly you currently fives are left. You've lost GE now. And when these people leave these are high paying jobs and it's got to be impacting negatively your real estate values and your tax base. Well let me let me let me say this yes I have concerns at the end of the day. Like everybody should appear about our state budget our future course -- we've had some challenging economic times we also have to budget last year we did not raise taxes one dollar we cut over a hundred million dollars and spending. I was ourselves to do Bob if you look at our recent dual Sikorsky to look at the quote. Electric vote counted one in the area. We have a lot of good things come and outlined in the static etiquette that to your point yet to make sure that you're responsible value Belcher budget is limited what you could do. But I think. You know art art tax climate. I think. We're very mindful of it were aware of it now we understand what apple Agee and also offer it to GGG left it's true that moved their headquarters to Boston. They received enormous taxes have missed it in Massachusetts. They still have hundreds of police in the state of Connecticut. And they they left for a different culture and one of the tax structure. And states are always gonna compete against other states did nothing we can do about it we have seen in Connecticut to the same thing each other we've neighboring towns that. Fight over at a Wal-Mart because our property tax structure. And so abatements incentives those things are here Tuesday etiquette have to play that game like masters and will continue to play it will play aggressive. You know in talking to some of the executives from GE and Aetna and Pfizer. One of the things that they told meet drove them out of Connecticut. Was the hiring of income tax on incomes greater than a million dollars is that a 9% income tax on million plus incomes in Connecticut. Now our income taxes under certain percent for those are in over a million dollars in the western new York and New Jersey and Massachusetts. Massachusetts is five. I apologize to you got it lowered doors we are lord in New York Rangers. So what else can Connecticut due to be more attractive I mean you you look. You're the number of employees in Connecticut declined year over year I looked at pay the workforce total for Connecticut the end 2016 vs 2015. Which that match the that's got to be a black mark on the Connecticut resident bit the fact that your workforce has declined. Predictability and sustainability are there predictability is really important. For our budget going for. And we inherit a lot of long term passes that were trying to except I give you a great example that we just last week voted to extend. Some payments into our our pension fund by twelve years because we had not done that. In 2032. Democratic it would vote six billion colors two would. Pension fund for its employees. And that it had number opposite on payable when you're by anybody around forty billion dollars. And again that's not inherited by this that would invest in here it by the general assembly by this governor from 1939. To 2009. The static etiquette did not have one year. Make you actually valued payment to that pension. Only in 2011 to start doing. And so you have a lot of things that are hanging around our next that are not our fault we're trying to storm for a long term basis. That move that we made last week was praised by Moody's it was great despite the Connecticut business and industry association of leading. Business advocacy group here in Connecticut so we'll look at what that working together. And I think the budget we passed this year will to your point. Continue to offer more stability Tor companies I would very mindful of that but also mindful that look. People have a lot of decisions to make some of the chaotic it tumble battle to get incentives in various places and so I don't. I don't read too much and you know someone from Massachusetts offered a huge tactic of the company they crossed the border. Just the way when it happened dedicated doesn't mean that those states are still in either it's gonna happen more and more and that's one. Matt you have one of the most educated work forces in the country you have one of the best schools systems in the country your your your grades if you will. It whenever I look at top educated states in the United States Connecticut is generally in the top three if not number one on the list. What what is the plan to keep that educated workforce what is the plan to develop and innovation economy. In Connecticut. Well that's great question that has been one of them the struggles you know we do we know I'm from Hartford a born and raised and by the way by the league team sponsored by the yet. I've grown up and I would tell you that. You know if you look at Hartford to look at New Haven you look at Stamford bigger in big cities. That is a concern is is retaining and attracting young talent. And one thing if you if you haven't visited Hartford recently we've got it over true. Thousand units a rental market rate housing condos and apartments. Built for about a capital region development authority the city grimace could by 8% last year so you are seeing this begin to happen we have UConn. I'm moving one of its on larger branch in downtown Hartford we have an entertainment district it up and running. So those things are beginning to happen to young people wanna live walk the city. And they want with your other young people. Hartford is where it is today from five years ago or even ten years ago is light years ahead Stamford speaks for itself it would success and track record. And you're into eight and at Yale which obviously big draw so we we think we're invest in our cities and I can tell you this budget it's gonna come out to mark the governor. And my talks with him. I think if you live in Stamford are certainly haven to be very very pleased. At what the state is trying to be continue to draw. Visitors and residents to our cities and make them more competitive heart attack. Very good in you mention electric boat I mean that's gonna help the state law 2500 jobs. In it you'd 2500 or 3500 net new jobs over the next five or six years. So that's pretty good for New London county. No question what we have a lot of successes and by the way the small that the suppliers in the contractors these companies are almost every town in the state need to reach a huge accorsi the same thing I mean we had number runs and Sikorsky of the small businesses impacted by the deal we struck with them and it was over a hundred and they were I think. Under eleven out of a 169 count in the data competitors like that so. At the end of the day we have our successes but you're right I mean we are mindful. Well when company like that the speak we don't ignore them I talked to some of that company it seems like almost every other day or every week. We wanna help them and I think they wanna be part of Medicaid and grow but they're looking at QB do and so actions are meaningful and boards are powerful. And we're very mindful that going for. Thank you very much for your time Matthew appreciate it thank you guy that's Matthew Ridder ease the house made majority leader talking to us about Aetna and their potential. Departure. From Connecticut from Hartford Connecticut where they have been headquartered since the 1853. To Boston Massachusetts. Alitalia if I I still think. Given the medical hub that Boston has become yup you think about companies like Tina. All the Biotech companies in Boston it's a very attractive option it is opening like that yep all right. A great gig they give you know be myself eat eat yet no privacy. You're treated like. I would be a terrible queen is good food probably aren't being bad king to I'd be really happy. Everything heavy I'd be heavy. At Soviet nickname in history to have became a heavy and me. How many presidents of the United States have served during the reign of Queen Elizabeth the Second great question and then the top one. 68680. Is our tech's number first listener with the correct answer win 825 dollar gas card. How many presidents of the United States had served during the reign of Queen Elizabeth the Second. One technology that I've not kept up on that evidently is attracting a lot of capital is 3-D. Printing what are the applications 3-D printing. So the biggest thing that 3-D printing promises in the long run is instead of the process that you used today in order to make various goods which is a productive process where. You start with a big hunk of metal and gradually you know what color shape it in the what you want instead of removing. Metal or plastic in order to get what you want 3-D printing is what's called an additive process you start with nothing and add a little pieces until you get the shape that you want. What it promises in the long run to be able to do. Drastically reduce our transportation costs because you don't have to ship things to where there need to just build them certainly needed instead your ability to say you have a large. Factory facility in Nevada yup you you build a three deeper into their because you know certain components. In your factory are gonna break area. Exactly so that way you don't have to deal was shipping or let's say that you're building a bridge somewhere instead of going and meeting to have big deal being shipped out on you know complicated trucks and you know wide load trucks and so forth. All you do is you supposedly you're not supposed Liu in theory in the future can just fabricate their steel beam. They are through this additive process so. I'm trying to envision the size of the print will again this is how things go in the long. Okay short I was thinking used used for small Ike is everybody used. Thinking about this is probably saying to themselves. On thinking about the copier that I've gotten my office and that's what it's gonna be for short term uses but long term it's the industrial user where you can potentially really end up saving some money about medical equipment. It in the hospital. Medical devices I don't know enough about it to be able to speak to a fully there. But what you're seeing now is think about make something like fake it. Would that be like let's say you're getting your hip replaced. PG could use it that is one of the big problems with. Joint replacement rate other tips knees elbows up is always you know it doesn't ever feel quite the same because it's not the yeah and I don't know if this process would help improve that from a field perspective or quality perspective it's really on a man off sides but should be able to match up better with the size and thank you think if you're getting downing is in theory you can do that today just through wave productive process it's just is that the big question is the cost. You know that that that's the big thing that this affects is not necessarily more precise and just because. It's actually a slightly. It's a more energy intensive process in some cases. Because anything that's based on metal really predict right now is typically using lasers in order to. Effectively keep powdered metal to the point where it melts and then shape it into what you want okay. So a lot of this is being done in Boston. You single out an embossed there's a company that and why were reporting on this his company called desktop metal. The just raised 45 million dollars from. Alphabet BMW and low. Smart money. What might we Newsweek completely different industries. You know when you consider that to the lake and any time alphabet capital gets involved him myself what do you know. Yes but they're also wrong more often than you know Unix you never hear about the companies that they'll output you know I I don't bloody work for a company. That was up previously funded by Google and companies Knightley it picked up big did mobile scavenger it's turned in enough. You know it's those so it's like yes and understand exactly you know and or Google threat think like two or three million dollars so we're not talking nothing user. But. In this case you know 3-D printing continues to be I think an intriguing. Concepts but still not quite ready for prime time but if if and when you finally get 45 million dollars meaning. To big chunk change but if and when you finally get it to the point where it's feasible. And cheap enough to roll out and it changes. Everything does the difference. So Hasbro CEO came out and was talking about this on there a conference call yesterday. And it's a pretty basic and pretty simple explanation pretty much what he said is look. When we sell something someone we do a ton of follow up to get feedback and really try to engage our customers in what it is they like and what it is they don't like them and then they listen to them actually now. And it's you know it's one of the easiest things for companies to do. Is you know for them to simply say hey. Are we doing good job is there anything that we can do better. None of companies do that but Hasbro taking a lot of feedback customer communication and really just engaging their customers well I think that other big thing. It's up another 2% today it's at now has those trading at 9679. And there 52 week range and just take a look at the 52 they're based Ares are curious about this is they're based in Pawtucket,. Rhode Island. That is low sixty dollars a share in as high as well right where they're trading down 97 dollars a share in the last year. Yeah and they they got down into that 68 range right around this time last year so if you had managed to buy at that bottom there May Day and they're saying look I'm about fifty. Percent last year to number. Missouri becomes the 28 right to work states what does that mean while Missouri adopted a law Monday. Allowing workers to avoid paying dues and union workplaces becoming the 28. Right to work state and the second to do so this year. Following state level of GOP victories in the fall. Yeah and this in particular when you look at what it means. In Missouri. Missouri has a number of Bob vehicle assembly plants there I know they've got a couple different ones I think and trying to get a couple more MW Ford has a big one in Kansas City area Ford's got one that's four point seven million square feet with 7000 hourly workers there. What is this probably mean. Hey you're you're likely going to start seeing you continued demise of unions. In states like you just think about it you work for Ford or you reference and what is the factory worker for me. Per hour now 25 all all in with benefits are based I. Base pay probably in the 25 to 35 range depending how long they've been there because depending on the union I don't know it forwards. With the union UAW union dues are. Most unions will require that your working anywhere from two to four hours per month. Pay your union dues yet. Yeah in and save your raisin family unit three miles to feed right. You're saying yourself well what what and what am I getting from my unions sued to justify that payment. And and actually it I take it back that's for plant is the only one that is left in Missouri at this point they've previously. There were it used to be it through the ninety's yet three or four other plants there but that Ford one as the only one that's left in Missouri now. Up next or be joined by Nath Nancy stopper stone. Insight performance we're talking about these survey that was conducted measuring optimism in the business climate throughout New England. I don't Nancy. I. Good so tell us first I'd like to know. How you conducted this survey in other words it was it did you call business owners and asked them questions was that an online survey how was it conduct. Yet what an online survey we partnered with aunt and a smaller business association at new England and and without and up company's all about. You know what there. Seeing now in terms there outlook. Compared to previous years and what but in the future. So our business owners more optimistic today than they were a year ago. Yet they didn't need it we are being optimism growing and they are expecting better needed Indy. Better result in word a year ago are we thought that they eat at her and of the people responded. Arguing better now. And they were a year ago that actually wrote even over the meet you're with a brother that year in a certain rate all the. What when was the survey conducted were the dates. We conducted at at the very end he thought it. Then in November to summertime for. Was it after the election. It. So windy would be conducted the survey YE eight everybody's optimistic everybody's bullish. Is it because tax rates are gonna go down as a deregulation. What. What's the motivating factor the impotence if you will for optimism. Yeah it aren't really protecting their understanding that we in that specific question. I think there is you know an increasing confidence you know that we've been seeing over the last year ever been and it. Maybe that's not the number of years ago we seen this growing. Isn't confident each year in each year it seemed to get stronger and stronger. You know and more commitment it didn't didn't like being given an employee and that's kind of where we're being in the growth. What is the biggest challenges when you asked employers say OK we you know you're running an electric manufacturing business or pharmaceutical company. Were medical practice what's the biggest challenge that employers are facing today. The biggest challenge that they. And we found the recruiting what is really interesting and forty per cent a very fun and and I didn't mean rating at that challenge. And I think that the patent scheme you know that take whatever labor market here in New England low unemployment rate. At eight that the big competition out for good workers. I mean good employees and number Q when we were concerned and then re eating your employees. Injecting it challenges out there are market. Would it did they thinking do we need conducted the survey at our businesses generally feeling like hey we're gonna make more money this year. Yeah that would. Probably that they get away with equity or pennant. These are expecting it patent seventeen even better to be up. I'm again that real growing confidence in their heart. Very good Nancy thank you very much for your time we appreciate it. Nancy sap. Look out gold in bonds are sending a signal reminiscent. Of 1987. In 1973. In the market crashes that ensued. Gave got both bond yields and gold rising at the same time wins in both of those crash is was a signal. Of what was coming a little bit you saw people selling out of Bob bonds a little bit just because they were moving in equities in the short term but also moving into gold as a hedged there. And that's similar to the type of activity that we're seeing right now is a little bit of movement in two gold. Which is gone from the mid eleven hundred's up to the mid twelve hundred's pretty quick time here. It has it has a now the V thing that. I would warn you about it is just because you had a set of indicators. Looking this way back in 73 and 87 does not mean. You're going to see a repeat of it in 2017. Kind of reminds me you know people say sell in May and stayed away. Right to worry you know it yeah I don't get into any of them market timing it's just it's too dangerous well how about this one. The stock market does not do well when and in AFC team wins the Super Bowl. Again it just happened. It did. Oh boy. Well but it you know heroes I know exactly here's why I think DiMarco actually do better. If forty out the last fifty times when an AF CE 80% accuracy rate they got me the market's done poorly when an AFC team wins. With that means to me is that there's no relationship between the patriots winning the Super Bowl in the stock have nothing to do with it. So I think you're more likely to have the market do well this year because the chances are we over tear returned to the mean rate that. And announce their independent events it's 5050. It's like cal if you're hoping your point is they just come out pads the last five times as you know details sixth. Nobody doesn't it mean if that as time goes by you're gonna return to the meeting at some point it does in the long run but he can't predict any of the specific instances. We think about the labor secretary Indy poster. He he had an illegal alien working for him as a household employee. For three years. It's gonna get through copper and I'm sure he's not the only person who did that. Common you know it's it it's pretty common I'm sure if you went back through the records of ever winning congress river when the White House. I would bet that 90% of them have at some point him. You know it's it it's a lot more common than people think yet he he brought it out. He's eased somewhat controversial. In his son his previous positions mean the left is gonna go nuts over this. When the left supposedly like him more because of this. That would that be the kind of thing it's a positive legacy it and at that way I doubt it. And then Harvard records a one point two billion dollar. Investment loss they they actually brought in enough money so much money and even with that money the their endowment went down. You just you gotta be careful when you're talking about Harvard does not up to the quality of a Dartmouth education. If there are closing comments for today.
