This is the financial exchange with the very Armstrong and chunks of you're exclusive look at business and financial news affecting your day your city your world. Stay informed and up today promoting economic and market trends plus get breaking business news and every day. And now the financial exchange with the very Armstrong and chunks out. This is a day of confusion. Stock markets open but the bond markets closed. Is it Columbus there's a Thanksgiving in Canada they call a happy Thanksgiving. Who won that debate did Hillary Clinton win the debate or did Donald Trump with the debate I. I don't know the answer those questions it is disc jockey or job here there's just like the one question after the other it's a it's a day of fast confusion hi everybody. That voice was John Moody who. Taking over for the vacationing chuck exotic and my gosh they I you know. The bond markets close which I never understood. The stock markets opened the bond markets close yeah I'd I'd Columbus never really understood that either than the stock market kind of likes the fact that it won't get spooked by the bond market today apparently evidently and you know stocks rallying back. The the bigger question. And John Mooney UC veteran news man I'm just a money guy in. Who covered politics for many years and actually covered the Iowa Caucuses. From Omaha Nebraska covering western Iowa and in the quad cities covering eastern time was so what are these Iowa Caucuses that are great thing for the economy of Iowa as a whole world can verges on Iowa every four years town like New Hampshire Hillary they do worry that if you're selling PO cakes and Iowa and you make a fortune that's. All right well you let you and I both I guess all three of us watched the debate last night. What are your observations from the new brand. To. Round two. Trump clearly did a lot better. He stopped the bleeding which and I'm not being cynical it was a big thing for him up because I was envisioning coming in here. Under dire scenario where literally everybody would be leaving him that's not happening. I think what you need to understand is that two thirds of the people surveyed in the scientific poll done on CNN. Said that Donald Trump did better than expectations. That's about as good as you can expect him. The singer had to have been on his heels I clearly was on its heels he had first thirty minutes. A pretty good army. Look he you have to at least delivers OK performance he clearly. Passed that bar the problem Donald Trump passes. Well two thirds of the people think he did better than expected two thirds of women said that Hillary Clinton won the debate. And that's where this thing is being fought right now clearly if you like trump you're feeling even more energized today but if you're in that middle. Which is what it is all about here in the last few weeks. I'm archery go on a whole lot of those people putting tires on 710%. On between seven and 10% as either. Voting independent like the libertarian or there and are undecided or if you count the libertarian and Jill Stein and it's it's a lot more than that. It's a five or 6% who don't have a choice among any of the four candidates to ever made up their mind. And the other question what this could come down to is the intensity of support the one thing Donald Trump has really going for him is that people who like him love him. A lot more than people who like Hillary Clinton love Hillary Clinton senator pat that that's via the intensity of support is probably his strongest attribute the issue now is. He needs to grab a few million votes. I'm not sure those people who he needs to ground are gonna gravitate to him after last night. It's funny that last night during the debate my wife was. You know watching the debate intently. And I was watching the the currency markets and and as watching the peso rally. Now it was the first chance last night was the first opportunity. For traders to trade the peso since the videotape. Broker the audited whatever you want caller from the trump thing on Friday night and the peso rallied 2% does that mean that the market the investors are saying. That Hillary Clinton's chances of winning the presidency that much greater no question. You know if you. There's a lot of bias going yeah I mean it would no matter who you listen to someone's coming from an angle or has an approach. The peso ironically is the most independent way to judge who's doing better in this race. Because billions of dollars and it's been money they don't care they're not in the trump camp they're not in the Clinton camp there and the I wanna get rich camp. And when trump is doing better the peso does worse. When Clinton's doing better the peso does better. And right after the opening of a trading for the in the currency markets last night as you said the peso went up one point 5%. Went as high as 2% the most beautifully with the currency markets that is a huge. Move in the currency markets that tells you. The rest of the world is really betting on Hillary Clinton to win. You and I had different interpretations. Of the closing of the debate. Hillary Clinton was asked point out of redeeming feature of Donald Trump and she went in and said very nice things. About his children. And then Donald Trump really caught me by surprise when he made very. Positive comments towards Hillary Clinton I looked at that as his concession speech. Yeah I EU disagree. I think he was. Think he was really touched by what Hillary said about it you know it's it's not good enough you're sitting right in the same room Tucker your elected John and I are completely different so I looked and that is. You know Donald Trump's and okay this thing has gotten too ugly yeah. The I need to tone it down and he like would he said. About her was you know she's tough she's fighter she's guy will not wolf. Remarks were pretty classy I thought it was it was a nice sigh of relief wrote this debacle of an election season has been bitter the entire time so. It was nice to finally see them respect each other but the issue here is very things I don't think it was a concessions I don't Mel. Very things that concession speech I'm thinking he was just generally genuinely touched yes by the fact that Hillary acknowledged. He's good to I think that you've taken aback by the U wasn't it yeah. I can be rather it was a nice way to end it it really want to leave you feeling what a good do now in an effort not feeling a hundred like I minutes. This is it just days that was just my perspective too and you had me thinking. As easy as this is now and it's negative as it has been. Mean it really is a chance we can come together after all said and done. And that's what I think is gonna happen I think I do there debate I think Donald is in because he you know. But the third debate he's no he knows he's going to be losing by big it's ambulance. You liked the polls that come out on Thursday of this week. There in the field right now Monday Tuesday Wednesday Wednesday doing polls. Donald Trump is an Al Landon type numbers he's going to be pulling and between 35 and forty I don't want to vote out of Ali 40%. Yeah I I don't think the spreads can be as big as you think also I don't think that that particular polling. Is the telltale what matters is about a week from. Because we need to absorb that it's okay that the reactions don't you don't think the Monday Tuesday Wednesday pool be back here. It'll be accurate as to what people think about Donald Trump we just heard the worst possible news that just broke CI wish historic pages have a if you if you get a if you if you yeah so it's temperature when they're the sickest via it's not going to be eureka. But I think a week from now if it's still 55 points plus this thing's over. Well here here's what I think is is gonna happen you have to look at. The percentage of the population that's minority rate and 53% of voters are women. How do you think women ski. It's definitely not it that this is he's he's lost the Mikey he's losing. Undecided women I've just said no way. No way I am not vote for. Yeah I'm sure so sure there was a whole lot of them decide when to begin with and and and the proof that trap I think with your thinking. Is. There is a difference between upper income women and lowering them. An. Women already liked Hillary Clinton there's not a lot of low hanging fruit out there for either candidate and women there were already gender gap. It's already placed the Democrats always win. The problem Trump's gonna have here is it's not just how many women now suddenly say oh now I realize that really don't like to ultra it's going to be Howell. How angry. And motivated to vote so what could happen is a greater turnout among women. Pre disposed against Donald Trump anyway are now gonna vote and those people were staying home. And not politics. The I had already tired of it's almost November and future in the air conditioning and here I'm where you're not applicable. On the Dayton which would you take an 8%. Pay cut it to work from home yes yeah I didn't have to commute. I spend Arab how much time do you spend commuting to work. I'll talk time jobs retired irony took a 40%. It's forty and forty minutes each way from it so if these if if I said hey you can do your job from home do you take an 8% expected now now. I would not address. I would take the percent I can't do my job from home so it's not an option for a media with how long we your commute when your work done in tedium. You know I was lucky because went workplaces I worked out were very inexpensive to buy realistic it's I was able to buy it really nice place really close to where worked. And I was never more than twelve minutes more and you've had I actually came home for dinner network that night at the the 6 o'clock news came home for dinner Aikman came back to do that the 10 o'clock news. Well tell everybody how to participate in our poll yet people can just cast their vote on financial exchange showed dark comedy it's our poll question today. Which is would you take an 8% cut to work from home. And so far the nose or in the lead to 60% and that Derek that's our poll questioned 68680. Is our text number up next are we talking to. Leader bank does a tremendous amount of mortgage loans as a matter of fact I've used them a couple times to refinance properties in the past. Jake how's the mortgage business these days it's been extremely busy very. There are a lot of people buying homes. So that's kept the purchase market very very busy and then on top of that race are still at all time lows right so we've a lot of folks who are refinancing their homes either to get a better rate or pull some cash out because of properties appreciate it that's I was gonna ask you how does somebody know whether they should call to refinance. Well you know. Dude there's really 22 ways if they feel that the rate can be improved. Give lesser rate down and you know thirty year fixed raise her all time lows. If you have anything in those in the 4% range frankly give us the rink and you might be able to do something K okay com or if you need to take some cash and of your property wondered for college tuition for your kids or you guys have home equity lines of credit we have home equity lines of credit as well and the cool thing about that is. If you already had a great look raid on your first mortgage can get a home equity line of credit which will leave your first loan as it is and allow you access the equity built up in your home. Makes an awful lot of sense and you've got fifteen year fixed rate mortgages five year adjustable rate words all types inflamed we we have all types of that in addition to that were actually very active Jumbo lenders so. As properties have really appreciated in the markets in Massachusetts. There's been higher demand for Jumbo loans we do a lot of that. So last year Berry were actually not the number two home purchase Lennar mass. It uses it for you congratulations. Vote your conscience there aren't just vote go to financial exchange oh does come in castaway. The real estate market is fox it's red hot especially here in new England's. We're joined. Hi Jeff shot from re Max and show real stake Jeff orient. Good morning thanks for joining us so Jeff you know we're sitting here it's October of 2016 I remember talking you in the spring. And you were telling us about bidding wars that were breaking out for houses. What is the most expensive time for somebody to buy house. Most expensive part of buy out who's going to be in the spring and summer months but. I know we're biting her wallet. Survey hand it it it really. I didn't believe the data and maybe the big order and they are so. I knew something was off and I wanted to dig into the reason why. It's the most expensive apartment you'd advise because that's the biggest tact that's what people are buying the big out here. Albert square footage your Albert's side I'll actually larger than. Than when your parity to winter. Yeah so to speak so it's not just the season Allen the it's because so what does that mean by young families are out upgrading the size of their homes in the spring and they only do it in the spring. Right the one that big thing that he constantly. Europe per year they cut buckle that. If if you're young gambling and they use it you'll get a great school that Kirk. I'm number one your most like going to be moving up as a buyer so I'm your budget already used on these barker or do that but number 20 in order to you that. You need to be close by the end of August order burger you've been to that moment. So. The move sooner you know and you can't move toward a winner or fall on. And why I'm really all that that article law not really biting the migrated there it doesn't just peppered de. Just marketing I mean very few called Maine. And we were sitting down talking about the value your home today. I would be used in the cop pull in the springtime breaks your property often. Those numbers and that that dollar you know that burned witches. Auckland why I. Thought that these numbers that they were siding was put it correct. So what kind of homes are on the market in the fall or the is that all the leftover inventory because. A guy like you wouldn't you say if I came to you today and said analysts on my home would you say to me well let's wait till the you know February march. Absolutely not I mean so bringing it by our debt back that I ordered by Al. Spring ball by ball and then winner and then others actually one of the lower times. The dog it over the middle alive you know bought back to the slow time for actual circuit activity. Right now the but over inventory. From that remark it is act actually and bounds or coming off the market and September October. But act one of the better I believe or not order actually that are out. You're not having nearly as much competition on the market is actually dormant when a month that it actually be a great time. The figure out on the market. Jeff this is John firsthand story yeah I twelve years ago I have to I moved here and I have to find a place in December. So I was looking like literally a week before Christmas. The good news is I was able to get really good price the bad news is I had nothing to choose from. I mean there were right literally like five houses on the whole South Shore that were in a popular price point available for sale also. I got a good price but like it was not the cheapest room. Well and that's why add the seller on that really dug them a bad. In order taker now off the market winner because you just don't have any competition. So it you waited you were able to wait you know another three or four month. There ordered a lot more out regional book yet but it that things aren't you would have a lot more out there so it. Kind of year you're you're you're you're darned if you don't your card bill so. Jeff with with. You know inventory levels being so low is throughout New England are you starting to see more people list their homes. We are and inventory levels there they're changing it it it's really all bike right. Won the story that really are being thought about it is higher price point inventories start to bill. A lower price point it. Over at odd that or is still extremely tight but. You know there are some true rape buying opportunity out there but. The good old adage. Location location. Built this true on different locations of boring better than different areas. And then you know different barker started to slow down so. You know made it all. It it up the pain and at that big broad stroke there's there's a lot of indicators out there word started to crack the market current beaten in the toward grow. And a question and I'm looking. I thought might find out is that upper increase of Bob aren't quite right in human Torre is back on the start you back alone. Now that'd be going to be attempting to seat have a first time homebuyers need the nerves start to see millennial finally buy homes. Yeah they were actually number one purchasing world. And in 2015. They were they bought it in about thirty to 33%. Of all that out of the available for sellout here. There are out there buying it and one of the big things that are actually heard you talk about is millennial there's maybe more than generation the past. And on the millennial generation actually believes. In homeownership and being a better investment more than and other generations so I picked a mole on your generation going to be. A really really big. Good great thing for real and they've. And they've put off their purchases and there's a lot of pent up demand I agree I think this could be huge huge issue. For the next five to ten years. Well in the here and restarted it and look out the question on now that. You know that there dabble in their jobs learned to deal that earned you know that you're a Great Recession are kind of being put behind them. Are they going to be the one early debt and make huge difference and and and potentially make sure that we. The slowdown in any. Right right right look thank you very much for your time gap we appreciate it. You know I think the that the child from a land deals is that the Arabs being forced to buy because the high cost of rent it's actually cheaper one quick point to an east all the markets in the country the place that had the biggest decrease in sales price. From summer to fall Hartford West Hartford East Hartford, Connecticut new the entire country eight point 2% drop between summer and fall. You know and that you can't Billy mine geographic that's a timing issue exactly. School. Hit a dollar eighteen at one point and I'm looking forward now and I've got the pound trading at a dollar 23. Today now it's not all bad when your currency goes down in you know this is the really good thing actually about a global economy is that. It's like an equalizing factor as your economy gets in trouble in your currency gets weaker and less attractive. Guess that doesn't actually make sure products more appealing overseas. So what's happened here is you've got a weaker currency that's. Actually boosting UK sales. Abrupt exports now. I'm so it's it's like a balancing factor what they want to bring things into the country. Makes it makes it tough so it's a very difficult time signs of stress. Certainly a weak currency and a lot of uncertainty right now. Going on in in Britain. The only if it and the I mean that 118 trade something may have been technical problem and in a lot of thought that broke and I saw it metadata calling her fat finger I love that expression fat finger like someone OS fat fingers made a mistake I made a mistake. And put a big bite in the shouldn't have gone in but. That there really are very few tangible signs of economic distress in in Britain. In point it has held steady there really is not going to be drop off the stock market is held up pretty well. The only occur government owns a strong it it's at some point you want your currency to stabilize. And it was that long ago Jon worthy of the pound was trading at 240 to me right and if that's a sign of concern down the road so there is there's definitely fear of problems down the road that so far. Fingers crossed it hasn't been that bad in the real world. Quick announcement on behalf of Cushing and dole and you know somebody hit asked me the other day widely. Need to create trust the fiery have a will you don't you you can go through. And and continue to just use your willed the difficulties your they would often through probate. In probate costs if you haven't gone through this experience yet we learned is that probate costs about 5%. Of the gross state. So let's say your mom she's a widow. And she dies with the state of 700000. Dollars house of bank accounts and higher res. You know some real property and she dies with the gross a state of 700000 dollars if all she has is a will. You can expect that's gonna take a couple of years to take to probate in that the cost of that will be 35000 dollars a lot less expensive to use that trust. Cushing and old is giving away if free guide this month in the month of October called back to the basics. In the phone number to receive the guide news poll free. 8668485699. Paltry 8668. Both saying they may leave London as a result of the bricks it. And chuck has always maintained John that the bricks it's never gonna happen. I don't know how it doesn't happen at this point the French are saying get out. And the British voted to do it yet in what I read this morning is that the latest guesstimate. Is that wrecks it begins next march right so you know everything's in line for it to how I'm trying to think how it doesn't happen. You know like who it would have to occur for bricks it to knock and not happen. Could they have another vote thinks I I think lesions those two out three in the keep voting to get the result we like right they voted in it was an ankle suit doll like you know I was ability. Disputed vote. I voted the week so it's it's going to happen I think the issue here is. Trying to. Figure out. How you can accomplish what what the voters want to do without. Killing your economy and part of that as you've said. Is maybe taking a look at some of the rules with respect to businesses. Doing business domicile in London. To make it so that they don't all want to leave the pad how do you accomplish that I mean he gators the gators passport rules and and I think that's the thing that's moving Goldman Sachs they're sane Hayward and moved 2000 workers big question is were they moved they moved to Frankfurt in Paris. Both of those countries are not real great places to go in and if you're an employer well Germany is definitely stepping up the sales pitch. And Frankfurt is making it very aggressive pitch to try to get these companies Frankfurt could be. The new capital financial know that something would that be a change. He about where Frankfurt was just go back. Thirty years. Frankfurt was shell eggs Saturday yeah I mean that we quite a turnaround but you know. There economy has has done very very well it's been one of the real leaders of that part of the world. And you know you could be looking at a transition year. Pretty historic of London no longer beating the financial capital of that part of the world that that's amazing to think that both. Goldman and GP thinking about that and Jake and JPMorgan CEO saying that. A Euro collapse is five times more likely than it was before the birth to vote. Do you think do you believe that they they that the Euro will collapse like. I can think they stick together I don't know well you know this is all those things like byte of the brits it's like saying when you're like five times more likely to die at the deadly can't certain that's unusual that's a rare cancer or else but he still really don't have a very good chance of that happening. I think when she JC I think that Jamie Dimon was taken a little bit out of context of this comet saying. The chance of a collapse is a lot higher but it's still very low. And he said that yet this will reduce the GDP of the UK that's but that's not a disaster you'll create years of uncertainty. And that's not a disaster so I think what he's saying is this is going to be a challenge it's going to be difficult. And what bottom line is common sense you take away one of your healthy players. In that union. And goes away that means the success of the union by definition is reduced him. I mean this is a healthy player. An important part of the union now and it's leaving so that that cannot be a positive mill. Not only is it certainly can't. And on that movie we like it we said the British pound trading at 123 and I think I saw the Euro trading at about what 111. Yeah went eleven on the Euro and about how both of those currencies. Have devalued. In the last couple years you don't but I I keep going back to thinking about Gisele Bundchen and and when she said and meanwhile Carolina. This. I don't admit to it and number any country it is that. You know I think about win schnabel when she says when that when that your would. 134. And that she didn't want to be paid in dollars and more you know she would only accept being paid in Europe and it. And she absolutely call the top yeah. So I mean if you're a results should become our economic indicate when Jews insists on being paid in dollars only double in short the dollar doc talked perceiving him Booker again our net now. But that that's what the shoeshine boy talking about the stock tips remember that that's that that's something screaming. Uncle Sam has a big student loan problems do they ever I mean you've got all these for profit. Schools that you've got massive defaults and and that's gonna go away I mean that's that's already being unwound. But where you are also seen a lot of student loan defaults there law students grad students med students. There's there's a clause in the student loan program that allows these loans to all be forgotten it's called the pub. Look serviced loan forgiveness program was approved in 2007. You know. This really grabbed my attention Berry is I thought OK if I go at the civil service or something you know I'll get my debt reduced or eliminated. This actually affects one out of every four workers. In the United States. We're talking about people who work for 501 C three non religious nonprofits. Child or family services agencies. State local federal government or tribal government including schools in the military. One out of four workers affected these were up big deal well. Here's what happens your loans are forgiven. The average person has ten years after ten years the person has about 30000 dollars of debt. Surprising. Surprise surprise people who took part in this half an average debt of 60000. And you know why that is. Because you know you won't have to pay it back. So what's happened here you have a lot of people who ordinarily would be getting a bachelor's degree at UMass or whatever. And they don't you know what. Let's go for a graduate degree and had suffered forward or embers or whatever may be. High cost and no big deal because you know what after ten years upperclassmen. So. The potential year in terms the obligations the government is huge right now. Know a lot of people participating in this but the liability for the government is unbelievable here. And but in its own unit growth in a provider of law schools that are recruiting students on this program. And it provides a perverse incentive because it's enticing students to get graduate degrees they know they won't have to pay for. It's it's exactly the opposite of what you would want to occur. Offered this product to really target our landlords were still collecting checks in paper form in this teenaged. And the purpose of zero needs to really bring everything on line between electronic but more importantly. How did he said it and forget it so what's a landlord hazard ten and set up. And really there's nothing that needs to be done until the leases over. The ranks is automatically drafted from the Tenet's account can you choose the date of the month as it always the first of the month or could it be the fifth there. That's a sign attendant on the fifteenth to to be the fifteenth of every month yup absolutely so landlord cites the initial date. Whatever day of the month that is. It's time for ETF talk as him so turnout we're joined by Alex O'Brien from Morningstar. I don't Alex. We're glad to we're talking about. Powershares S&P 500 high dividend. Little volatility. Exchange traded fund SP HD is the symbol. And it seems to be trading at about thirty dollars a share so what exactly is this animal. So this is looked on that basically recorder it starts with the stocks in the S&P 500 and and ranks those stock based on their dividend yields. Takes the highest yielding 75 and then all of those stocks. It ranks them on their bowl told you over the past year. And filters out the most ball point spots what's lawful portfolio of the stock's been up ball toll filter is an important one because simply focusing on you'll keep court considerable risk if you think about habitat to stocks that offer high dividend yields a lot of those companies are paying out. A large. Portion of their earnings as dividends which means that there's not as much of football for Hugh protector dividends should their earnings ball toward the colts will be screened does it helps filter out some of the riskier high yielding. Names in the portfolio. So I think that to focus on yield and risk. Izzo one that can lead to a better experience over full market cycle. Yet the key thing is over full market cycle because 90% of the time you might be right but my argument is that we're in that 10%. Where everybody's involved buying low ball everybody's looking for the safety everybody's running these screens and that's exactly where the biggest bubble the market exists right now. It it is a risky yes so. Eat you know there has been a bit of flights seek Uga last year's these types of stocks are trading higher valuations may have historically. Our vet said this this particular fund still leans pretty heavily into value stocks. So I don't think that Peters. You know a ball almost certainly in terms of valuations they do you think it's necessary to set. The proper expectation that hey this is a good strategy in terms of risk just returns over or market cycle if you have a long horizon. Com it's probably not going to do you as well as in the recent past I think a lot of those on low border at strategies have. On outperform. Well in large part due to expand valuations but it do you think still going forward that the strategy for long after it tumbled but attractive risk we just want. It's up about what 20% year today. Yeah I haven't looked at the year to date numbers but since its inception in 2000 and well in sept and October 2 doesn't Walt so. From from that November 2012. Through September of this year it actually outpaced the that's a hundred by about 2.2 percentage points. In outpaced the other rocks 1000 volley by about three percentage point to it has been on. A bit of a terror in terms of performance I'd wouldn't necessarily expect that magnitude about almost going to orbited do you think that this. Is still a really attractive strategy for people who are looking for are more income in terms of what their stock portfolio can provide. With perhaps or will there must respond traditional. High yield focus strategy. And and what can you give some examples of companies that would be in this 'cause there's only fifty right. That's right and the composition the portfolio can change over time as well as you can portly change that Stephen examples in the names the portfolio. There's Ford Motor Co. which you know offer here pretty decent that any yield. You have names like caterpillar. Packed car which makes is a truck maker. You know AT&T is pretty high dividend payers that has brought to a hospital in terms of its stock performance because you know they. It has a relatively stable. National stream throughout the recycled. Kind of like utility in the and that sense on so mostly names are. You know pretty big blue chip companies. But they they are more mature in the Q&A pale pretty I'd been yields. Nine get two point 1% just buying out plains and LAS and what kind of yield premium I gonna get by by getting this. So. Right now basically yet. Based the most recent data that we have on the underlying stocks in the portfolio. This is yielding about four point 1%. Are based on the award currently on now now that. Let me. You know changer for time and I wouldn't necessarily buy this specifically for that you'll. Buddy it is going to Q and ice you'll pick up over it. Broader based value were dividend strategy. Cost always comes to mind what does this cost to own for shareholder. It sure is at thirty basis point expense ratio that means it's thirty dollars for every 101000 dollars that you have invested would just. Comparable to similar types of the Smart be that type products that are using these types of strategies to ultra stocks. Very good very good Alex thank you very much for your time we appreciate your spectrum I think John might the impression I again it is. You like the idea just not the timing of the idea yeah the problem low volatility is everybody's kind of gravitated to low volatility. And we all want global food we like 20% returns and so volatility. And if you guarantee me that I'll hire you. Yeah and end it there it's a great concept of that four point 1% yield is obviously very impressive that's double what the S&P 500. Issues so that's a nice yield cushion the problem is that low volatility as a group. Has underperformed the stock market violet about 7% in the last four months ago. There's been a little bit of a global short term but I think he's right through the course of a long cycle that's a pretty good place to wait for correction yeah. Eric tuck it away in your portfolio yet and the whole point one is is pretty good and those are companies that. Likely going to be able to sustain or grow those dividends overtime to ski thirty basis points in the T app world sounds expensive. Boy now it does doesn't ever since fidelity woke up a in a fidelity woke up about six months ago that gee we'd missed out on the whole ET I think and now the error start small maybe they're brewing the coffee. And they're coming out with the exchange traded funds that are gonna be either equal to or lower. Then what vanguard for fidelity and Schwab we've both done that and able undercut vanguard there's a real race to the bottom now. On expenses great for consumers it's great night is a loss leaders are trying to get your assets under management but you know what. If you just wanna put your money and index fund and like that's all you want it's never been cheaper if somebody's out on to sell me gallon of gas for a buck are by absolutely all right. By Todd what's the from the law firm Cushing in Dolan and we're talking about the basics of estate planning. Todd I've heard that if you don't have a trust in place a married couple worth two million dollars. Could end up gifting 100000. Dollars to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Is that possibly true. Not only is it possibly true I think it's (%expletive) It's a fact I mean Anne and basically that the reason that is focuses. Because you have a million dollar exemption here in Massachusetts. And that means that I can leave a million to someone other than a spouse and my spouse can leave a million to someone other spouse and there's no tax. But when you have that simple will in place that leaves everything to my spouse when I die feature and you think you don't have anything else to do well. I die I pay no taxes my wife pays no taxes but my wife now has. Two million dollars for example right so she's got everything that we had together. While when she guys isn't two million bigger than one million. Her exemption is one million. My exemption is lost is wasted so now that two million dollars is gonna be taxed in Massachusetts state tax you on the whole ball. Not just the amount over. And attacks on the whole boat in two million dollars in Massachusetts is. A hundred brands such a voluntary tax like you say you're making a gift to the commonwealth you put together that trust whether they be re vocal folks or irrevocable if you want to add nursing home protection at the same time. These trusts will shelter. The million dollars purse by house thereby eliminating. Happy Thanksgiving everybody I don't know maybe happy Columbus Day in the bond market well know the bond market's not open. Is to bury our friend and John. Only filling in for trucks off is evidently. In trucks world to vacation in the stock market's open and and I will mention. A pretty nice rally that's not part yeah that's nice not having the ball mark you know because my hunch is just looking at these numbers a bit to the bond market we keep it in trashed. Yeah because oil's the stocks are up. Feeling. I would think that bonds would be down in yields up that wire stocks. OK I mean there's no earning season starts. This week but hasn't started yet so there's nothing coming out. Jobs report was baked in on Friday. And yet stocks are at the gala. 140 point yeah I I think a lot of it is less political uncertainty. Well look there's a lot of things going on in the market Hillary conservative president. Yeah I I think it's markets is telling me here at the pesos being very strong. And with equity markets being very strong also I think that that's kind of telling you that there is less certain less uncertainty. In the political by the way and the financial exchange network is is massive but we actually have a listener in Springfield Missouri today over that is my Graham. Who's not in three years old wife Jenny listening into the financial exchange I do need to give mission though because each. I always thought hockey game. Anyway it's either there or listening to that sort of thing but on so I think I think markets are seeing less uncertainty here I agree I agree I'm looking at across the board. What I don't understand and I'm hoping you can shed some light. Crude crude oil. Trading at 5197. Prepare well the saudis goddess in Davis and the Saudi oil minister today said. He would not be surprised if we touched sixty dollars from my year and this year. Now I would be I'd I would out there I think everybody. But again. It's important because language is important here because the saudis are the ones who started this price war. They care by themselves and because 87% of the world. 87% of the product is not from Saudi Arabia nobody but they took two million barrels a day off the pump. The future cutter cut bank price and they're not going to but they're giving language that's theory. Bullish for oil they're talking. And they talked it down to force its significant don't underestimate the possibility. That you could have a good spike here. You quoted that one thing I cautioned you about if you won't shares in in a lot of these energy stocks like your British Petroleum Chevron ExxonMobil. Sixty dollar price stag party. Good point really good point that's that's a concern I've I've expressed that people say oh we're going to sixty well. I think that is assumed because right now these stocks are trading at every large price pretty signaled that. They're trading on the basis that sixty is coming so they absolutely great points while companies like Britain British Petroleum I really question their ability. To cover their dividend. Act 52 dollars and 42. Is that right there right at it yet seen he'd. They need sixty bucks and curled our dividend and a lot pensioners relying on that end. Well right now they're paying out all of their earnings and dividends that's not sustainable so they need to get another 510 dollars a share the front part to dollars a barrel. To maintain an active. Over the long term as Eric called John you're highly resistant to the concept of self driving it's I look at it a problem and skeptical yet he's just. Because I think you have to have a world where everybody is in that same mode. And so this transition that I think is going to be over truly a generation. Is gonna take a want to beat people more and more people are coming around to your way of thinking I lose. You know thinking oh we love self driving cars by 20/20 people have. Some. Features like you can buy self driving car now at a drive on the finally you can drive across the country. And not really have to be to involved in driving process you can buy those cars today. But in terms of the fully autonomous car. It's going to be awhile but you are starting to see California for instance. Issuing self driving vehicle testing permits to taleo and legal and that's a good sign. Yeah taleo a French auto parts maker we go privately Atlanta company. The design and sell electric vehicles yeah I I think semi autonomous use essentially here and we're gonna get more and more autonomous. As time goes by and the day when you can get on route three in March field. And not have to drive into the you know that the exit at the airport. That day I actually that is not that far away and I just think that there are a lot of obstacles to make you fully autonomous. Not to mention the liability that might not work. Evelyn Carson park themselves. You can you can buy an art today. That'll parallel park for him you can buy a lot of cars were parked themselves in the Grimes get into the driveway he opened drugstore and boom it takes you in exactly where the cart needs to be. And there's elements of driving will be. Autonomous one after another after another over the next several years and decades how does this impact your thoughts on two industries. Insurance companies. And body shops. A guy ever a friend who's he trying to buy up automobile repair shops. And I took them aside. When you're you're buying body shops. You can buy these things cashed out. If you ever looked at the body shop business right here you know it's all insurance companies getting money from the insurance but yet the work part forward in the margins have been. But the turn over tremendous amounts of cash and people are there accidents are way. And a tremendous number accidents. But and junior in that business. Accidents the whole idea of self driving cars is to decrease automobile accident ED percent. Right so you would assume that and its its rates are based on payouts and number of accidents that rates will collapse insurance company correct. So I mean that's that's the hope I just think were a lot further away from the date going to be easier than that then you that you think how well impact impact will be huge if I could see this. If what you're talking about becomes reality I could see auto insurance as something that's under UN umbrella of your home insurance the words. Yeah in case is a problem with your car. Will pick it up just like if someone slips on banana in your four are now that it could be just you know incidental policies include under liberal. But isn't it interesting that technology has actually cause an increase. In automobile fatalities. In automobile accidents are talking about distracted driving race. Ten years ago. You didn't see kids driving down the highway check in the arena right and I should just pick on kids had saved my generation uses everybody and yeah the but that technology. Has. You know 25% of automobile accidents are due to distracted driving primarily due to texting and he art so. Back that out. And then back into you know safer driving because of technology. Unit ED percent reduction in out of it could take. Johnny could take to your point. Thirty years. Tucker might be collecting Social Security because before this becomes reality Murray could take that long that's what a lot of lot of futurists are saying you know their call me out there and bury your wrong it's gonna happen. They acknowledge that it's going to happen but they say the that period of time at which it becomes accepted is going to be room. It's gonna take a lot of cooperation. And a lot of this year so many variables. Including. The variable of the core being able to identify any possible object to any possible whether any kind of thing that could somehow. You on that road. Right now they're nowhere near where they need to be taxed or makes it very interesting point you know as we move towards becoming increasingly autonomous. What about replacing hov lanes as he or she suggests. With autonomous lines I think you I think that's a great idea I think one lane in the highway. On a major thoroughfares will be. Port on the scars and I think little attract people to them is it'll be very high speed yup because you'll be of the goal 120 miles an hour you have that way but are you gonna differentiate between autonomous vehicles in that lane as opposed to manual. Think you'll. He allowed in minor or no idea who is excellent as you'll still see jerk offs in the outlying enough to score a hundred miles an hour not that not the ticket 2000 election 95 camera is of the fifth. That's its autos with the W the other passengers in November I got a lot of us don't you know don't need to remember they're gonna have. The the feature now great Britain's already experimenting with this where you're gonna be cops are going to be able to disable your vehicle electronically. You see that nod to see that the V are in Great Britain they're introducing. Technology that would allow police officer rather getting in high speed chase may be just push a button and disable the car. Interesting well let's another. Weapon that they will have been in in law enforcement no question about it but would you know. Also at some point we did. Get to a point where there's only one plane on the highway for non autonomous vehicles like and it's like we don't have one of these drive and a slain here now. And he up next will be joined by ten years he's from the National Association of Realtors gonna talk about the jobs report. They came out on Friday would impact does that have on the rules that market would impact does that have on interest rates. You can alert all of that and more from our insurer match dot com studios. Well it is the first day after the jobs report jobs report came out on Friday at 8:30 eastern time we're joined now by. Ten years from the National Association of Realtors to. Talk about that report and how it may impact the markets and how me and packed house. They do again. Are you good night I was I was disappointed by the jobs report unknown on Friday that was not terribly enthusiastic and I. I feel like it's decelerating. What are your thoughts. I would agree I think it would did have a downside surprise that I think it's an Oprah. Overall. You do OK in and how would it would. What made you positive what what was the positive because I looked at 2554. Lever participation rate is still anemic. And if you're not working between 25 and 54 auto you're doing. There is a good point the upside from my perspective what you know in the big picture we've come back from a sharp drop in the spring. I don't know where where to an extent muddling along or remodeling our long and it's fairly strong on that we've tacked on nearly 2.5 nine jobs in the last twelve months. All right so witty how do you think this'll how do you think the employment market will impact housing in the coming years. Well again people. Given on garden by right after her any job but it over the next year Q I think it. Pretend very strong. Trent in our buyers a year can down the line once they've got that equity and incompetence behind them to it is this is really good signal for the future house. Would in a healthy market now healthy housing market. What percentage of the home buyers are first time homebuyers. Typically it's right around up 40% in what is it. Currently it's right around 3032%. So it's still pretty low relative to a healthy level. It is pretty low but it is trending upward you know it it feels like they're more first umpires are these just are not where we. Should be given a very large. Demographic that we're talking about. So in terms of the real estate market does that mean it looked continue to strengthen. Yeah absolutely there're couple things constrain this group we have we have relatively weak growth of logic appears that's turning around this. Very important group. Incomes are growing in this group but they have student debt and faced tight credit restrictions particularly in the credit score dimension obviously LTV eight or a lot of programs that you need but as we TDs. Improving more programs in one part one receive income group a group. That part and it's well and future. Which wouldn't lose what's a healthy level of homeownership. There's unity in it if it probably was too high back in 2005 and six who what where. What level homeownership can rate can be supported in this country. You know when we hit 69% that would help that would as. Probably much stronger that's sustainable. 63% go where we are now is below the historical public ultra 65%. To. This is understandable level. Right. Yeah I've added we're at a point they said we're a couple points under the under the historic norm. Do you think though that that with this under owned in east team this demographic of Generation X. it's that wants to buy that's paying a lot of money in in in rent right now to think they're gonna push a big increase the next 510 years that this could be big support for the industry. I think it's great point betting getting access to that apply it to real question we saw a lot of that. What would have been owner occupied to apply shift over to the rental market. It's almost single and went after it after that I think crisis and foreclosure crisis. Right now it an avid dirt on supply at entry level community. Level price point there's still there's catch up and has prices drop and underwater bar club owners. Bring their inventory to market that would help Q. Creates on the spot but again. It is shifting from someone who owned an underwater to a new owner that doesn't that doesn't turn. Moved the needle terms of homeownership rate we just in MarketWatch. We can win are the building's gonna come back and look at permits I look at housing start to mean those numbers have been disappointing for as long as I can remember. And when I talk to home builders they sell they tell me prices still are high an effort to get them to put a shovel in the ground and they're having trouble borrowing the money. And that's very good point turn number of constraints if you know access to credit Christmas smaller builders. Now we have questions about the durability of these young buyers I think that's kind of moving towards the wayside. Regulation they're also they can turn around the world to begin here and a Derek some builders. In and then try to midwest as well Texas. Really in the in the crust and dot eternity to get into the market. Putin finding ways. Create a waste through a town homes more tractor. I can I'm more of a model of a small part of land. Did you bring them to go lower price point we're hearing a lot of anecdotes of more action and that's intentional portion of market bigger Kerry were wore off the stork nor. We sure are both ten thank you very much for your time we appreciate. And fears from the National Association of Realtors and you know John as long as we've been alive and covering these markets. You've never really had a robust economic recovery without house. No you haven't and this may be just the opposite oftentimes housing leads the economy deaths in this time the economy. Eventually lead housing so something to keep and I noticed almost a lagging indicator so far we look at what people are painful. It's no wonder they wanna buy it's it's totally in favor of buying economically and it was just the opposite not that long ago you're young family your pain 234000. Dollars a month in rent both. Look at look at Bob thanks beat them by half million dollar house that I know. With the principal and interest not tax continue to cut along and a pain to get to trim the head shiny new roofs have no life I mean and it's wonderful. That's terrific a couple of nice places therefore. Eight Samsung. Just can't get out of their own way they are now halting the galaxy note. Seven production. I guess even the new full. That they produced news. And it's X exploding but it's his thing but it's smoky. It's smoking in earnings while in your pocket when the smoke there's fire yes there was reported last week the personal southwest flight. Had one in his pocket and he said there's smoke coming out of my pocket I mean it literally this is with the new phone that was a replacement. At the enemies is supposedly one. Doesn't catch fire and so Samsung is now halting the galaxy note seven production and who can blame them. And now companies like AT&T you're saying. We're not gonna sell or trade them or so I mean it's it's a real problem is when flow in the well I didn't get my iPhone. The reviews because her partner's I've gotten any update them. The sand and getting tomorrow and it was. I don't and use regular it was black ones and that's with the ways in thousand dollars for a phone. The cool ones in the right. One giant won with good memory but it's a thousand dollars and 1027 dollars for not. It looks nuts that's your choice there's a cook breakfast each. Should drive me to work it should my lawn I mean thousand dollars for harmful it's ridiculous let him and has been to make the big auction. Do you think it's just that seed with me here with their charge if they don't lightly you. A recent U give the ability to complain about prices. Drew I okay should just shut up you're no longer has any credibility on complaining about. And high prices but you look at they keep my cents at one is that T-Mobile that give you one for free noted the amateur likeness that your contracts seven year contract written. And it's her 500 a month the idea and it's for right in the three. They a vector be talking about tests are talking about NFL Leah the ratings continue to decline for the national football. Yeah as the questions about test was ability to afford that solar city purchase which we announced a little while ago yeah. A change of heart here Berry because just a couple of days ago Tesla was saying it needed to raise money. By hearing. Well now they've gone back and check the books and take up a calculator instead no we don't need to this quarter. But they're playing a pretty close the best the Ari if you're a couple problems and I worry about four tests. They're manufacturing. In California. I don't know that there's more expensive state in the country to do business I completely agree and not to mention the fact that they just simply don't have the scale. Of the General Motors and it is a question make a fantastic car. Looks beautiful runs. Fantastic but do they have the steel to be the global manufacturer and the jury's very much these jurors in my case I wanna see. With the actually deliver the model 34 in in terms of the price. You know I think it's going to be closer to fifty and his thirty or order they decide to sell this thing at a loss and that's what people were concerned about it I begin to be competitive can't sell half a million of them a year ago that if you dig your own grave. The more you sell the more you'll lose so. Yeah I think it gets some challenges this is a visionary guy I still see this. As being. Part of a larger company like a Ford or General Motors. Where Fiat Chrysler saying Ilan come on over here. Let's let's let's help you make this power. Tucker did you make any money playing draft kings this. I did. At 134 dollars. I lost nine dollars and he's very frustrating as with all day. Definitely up this. New ago we got to pick your players you know I I had and it's. I have yet organized great. Good players yeah those that I was in three different contests in two more double ups so you bet five dollars and if you're in the top like 101000 look at these double and so did that twice and then again while Collison and so ago you know look it up your tips from from Tucker and instantly out of my system that I was bragging about does not work is never asked me for any question well I. I'm an expert but I would say that we talked literally I think Ben Roethlisberger. In the epic I have him and Antonio Brown I had in place and I received. I hope that I that you picked like no one else play option won the food. The front and I'm not I'm not really good. It just gives you sought to do is otherwise mostly accurate mostly good patriots game mr. that a lot of people are caught him. Tonight and I have to. Why are people not watching the numbers you can lie but the numbers the numbers are. Down 12% they're down 11% 12% which is a big drop. 12% in very critical double. Yeah at 12% demographically. In the eighteen to 49 key demographics which is a huge dropped 11% total adults. That's a big drop now obviously patriots fans gonna say it's there's a good Dell it's not as a group. Now just think about it logically. No one in New England is not watching the patriots because a good deal we got that letter I hate I would also mop and a watch Tom Brady I don't think so. And if I'm in Jacksonville. No one in Jacksonville is not watching the football because elective example. They don't want it to thirteen sticks out because portals as it is an interception machine. They're watching because who bill. You know for over penalized Tom Brady are the people who were angry about Tom Brady are watching the NFL and a huge numbers why are people watching. And museum in Asia five and the numbers are. Spec number one is unprecedented interest in the presidential election and then that head to head battles against debates. In about in events conditions or yellow which is a big it actually went four for five games of the season so that's a big factor. Another factor is this whole issue of players not respecting the National Anthem I think the person I think that's the bigger issue. It should be but it's probably not as big a deal which you think especially if you're in that market with a crappy team right it is San Francisco and in another sock. Right so here in San Francisco when you're used to having perennial winners right. And then you get these clowns that are desperate just rejecting the fly. Don't you don't you just say hey I'm not gonna watch period I'm never gonna watch self and people protested that absolutely that that's a negative and I think that affects I think a defeat for patriots fan. And you watch the pats. Many don't watch the 4 o'clock. It's like a mad about the league mom mom and watch you know that the Denver game yesterday in Denver and Atlanta against the land enough for them a medical bill that at least some biblical character. Couple other reasons they gave an I think this is a huge one. The absence of marquee players Tom Brady suspend until I guess maybe good elements and it's been a factor in the back they took palm radiant way and which had to dump from that's pretty stupid thing as far as there are people in LA that would watch just hoping loses. Right portal watch this he's a marquis put it on and retire her term and Peyton Manning is a big deal Peyton Manning is a big. Got a big deal in the NFL if you don't believe me turn on watch all the commercials they would be putting them on commercials if he wasn't a marquee. Guy like a lot of people CI I don't. Think it's the debates because the college numbers are. College no college football Tucker viewership is up for college football is early dissidents from interest and citing its war against behavioral got a lot of criminals in the Indian share. You get the the disrespectful behavior on and and I think that I think it's the younger generations looking to stream more than to sit down and watch. TV is like we always talk about it yet they're cutting the cord injury and not college and everything and they'll just go and find highlights on the Internet. Two other factors one is over saturation I think that there I think Thursday night football is the single most stupid idea that ever happened and I think it's that classic example over the top behavior but it league there's too many games on TV not want things and reason why I think Colin colleges up. I have a city. X one. I'm a huge college fan but I cannot hear a two on and I didn't realize there's like forty college games on. When I'm watching TV I had no agenda of these channels are they going on the rundown assay while there's a forty to 49 game with four minutes ago. I clicked that it takes into the that game that I didn't even know existed so. College football is war games on workings of interest individuals. And it's tailor made for people all over the country. Gotten a lot lot of opinions a lot of different factors because that was one reason it will Null FAA if it's the election. But based on what we've seen for viewership in the soccer caf and number December. I UTC big employer in Connecticut is going to be reducing their pension obligations by one point seven. Billion dollars well I guess it. Yet the offering a certain former employees are beneficiaries a lump sum distribution and transferring a portion of its obligations the prudential insurance company. Of America again this is a league issue you're going forward this is an obligation that. Could cripple a lot of companies that don't manage it properly UTC trying to stay ahead of the game here you know dealing with the important obligation you know they there. Tough year for cram burglar yet you know a lot of the issues affecting the economy are affecting them one is it's hard to get good help. And think about it on jobs that may not be the most desirable. You know grabbing cranberries. Is not like at the top of the list of what everybody wants to do you gotta pay to get people to do that so they get rising production costs. Decreasing crop values. Changing consumer habits people aren't as many of them. And why. I iced drink cranberry juice all the time that's the fourth. I'll ocean spray movement haven't moved a bunch of everytime it's on sale now at Shaw's from. Because I don't know who basically took the scene fingerprint reader that you have an iPhone or. That where you're can't wrap around who think it would land on. And record here and there. Each European corporate second and update your registered on that time it will. Occur on how many times people metric. So how big a problem. Is. The is gun violence. And and you know illegal gun use. Relative I guess this do we really need this technology. Yeah well a bit in the all the headlines in the United States is the match. Your air attacks knowing that. And mentally unstable people go in and chewed up either ordered. And and and those are terrible terrible. But that is technology that can help. This technology actually addresses what is. You think in terms of the number a bigger problem in the United States. Two thirds of all conduct in the US. Are actually ground. And hold an image would take two thirds. Two thirds of welcome got the record that I and many of those particularly those that are committed by young people. Document would a guy that doesn't belong to you as a person. Likud for a police officers. Could department because he appeared in went duty at some of their guns get stolen from them. That's says nobody would it would paint this technology in to clear this one spectrum reading. The panacea. There are of course realities. You. Fingerprint technology that exists today which if you don't you're so you know it works but doesn't it. And a lot of gun advocates saying. Creative and I don't think my guys that might take it in the way yet eat them myself you know bird or an edit in snakes and situation. I have a direct one of the reasons why. That's marketing efforts haven't really comment or write what you know we talk about technology are on your show and one thing at. By all others and a half it how that is developing you have a kind of came away from the reporting. With the feeling. You know what if we can talk about him.
