This is the financial exchange with Barry Armstrong and chunks of you're exclusive look at business and financial news affecting your day your city your world. Stay informed and up today about economic and market trends plus get breaking business news every day. And now the financial exchange with the Barry Armstrong and chunks. The Federal Reserve. Piece today they will make their policy announcement at 2 PM. Janet Yellen at 230 in the afternoon will make speech. And mrs. yelling in my humble opinion suffers from a tremendous lack of credibility frankly as does the rest of the Federal Reserve. Why don't I say that well a year ago truck and I sat these very chairs and we talked about how the Federal Reserve was predicting. Four to five interest rate hikes in calendar year 2016. To the best of my knowledge truck is not a there have not been any so far in 2060. No I went back and counted last night just to confirm that there have been no hi Jim recount indeed there were no hikes this year I wanted to make sure I wasn't off and obviously when you're talking about numbers that big you can get a little confused but no we've not you know. Ike yet to see if MI EMI. Casting aspersions towards the Federal Reserve that are unwarranted. War where they. That's how could they be this wrong and I guess that's what. The questions you know they predicted four rate hikes they spend its estimated that the Federal Reserve spends 200 million dollars per year. On research nothing but research 200 million dollars a year friend of mine told me that. How could how did you and I'd be more accurate idea that we you know we don't spend half of. Well I think part of it is that it is very difficult for them to still capture accurate economic data you know people get mad. At the Fed and they say all the Fed's manipulating the data that doing this is the doing that. If that doesn't have the budget to get accurate data you say 200 million dollars some companies you'll get apple. Apple spends 200 million dollars just figured out how to market the iPhone you know fake to try to capture all the economic data and in the US using that budget. Sounds like up a look. You can't do it that there's a reason that. People typically trust private companies and their data over government data from and it's not because the government trying to manipulate is they don't have the resource in the ability they are one level removed. From the raw data when you're talking about economic growth if you're trying to measure something that you don't have direct access to. How's that going to be is accurate. A fan insider once told me that they always have to predict 3%. Growth than that their policies will work because otherwise why are they there. And he just did it depth incredible to me as we sit here in September. On the verge of yet another. Meeting and yet another. Have nothing there usually get no respect and is about a fact when you look at what's going on in Japan and Germany and some other parts of the world. It rates are natively one could argue that were hiking rates simply by keeping rates flat. Yeah you can make that argument there. It doesn't. Pass a ton of Muster when you try to dig into rigorously. And honestly I don't understand what the Bank of Japan is thinking what they did overnight it continues to push him into some pretty uncharted territory. And I just don't. Is central banks as a whole and I think you're starting to stream the limits. Of what's they should be doing in my opinion. All right hey let's talk about Wells Fargo made their CEO John stump had a tough day yesterday he was getting yelled at by Elizabeth Warren and other senators. The the this story. Comes around to basically. And I'm not really sure what he's doing in front of the senate yesterday I guess that that's where to start off what about it. The they called them in all they did was yell at that for for for our political. It's it as a sense political grandstanding. Well based on what you saw yesterday a noose you know I've covered the story for what the last week and a half that. Based on what we've learned over the last week and a half. It do you if you're stockholder. Would you vote to fire this guy. Here's what bothered me yesterday's Elizabeth Warren is they're saying you should be fire well. Elizabeth if you own stock in the company you can make that statement game but what what right does somebody who's not a stockholder. In the company have to say that the CEO should be fired its. It's a very difficult line because there's nothing right now that points this isn't like the Volkswagen case were I thought based on what was going on that there was a pretty clear path to the cease sweetened terms of how things were being dictated from the top down I don't know if there's anything directs that's going building mr. Stumpf to what was going on at Wells Fargo. But here is the problem. If you had a widespread. Abuse. Of fraud from. In a financial institution had 5000 people lose their jobs you know it's it's not a small number and when you're talking about something like fraud. You know there's there's some things that you can get away with it you're working in a financial institution you can say OK you know I'm gonna. You know you can skirt this and that it when you're talking about fraud and fraudulently creating accounts. It's something that's questionable it's it's not out of the question I would go so far is to say you have to resign you have to be fired but I understand why people raising the question. Well how how would you like your first if you won't share right and they did a proxy they said trucks ought to you'll own one share worlds far you buy one for what about 45 dollars. Yes it helps Xbox OK so and Tucker all I ask you the same question to EU you've listened to us cover this story. Ad nauseam right would you re in based idea he would chuck you wanna share you get one vote yet would you vote fire. Based on what I know now. No but I would clean house the regional level and. Anyone supporting Tucker Silva how would you vote your shareholder you have the right to vote how do you vote I can lean toward yes you do because it seems like something shady was going on there now. Merit in the it ironically. Warren is going to decide whether John Stumpf get fired. Not Elizabeth Warren it's going to decide he it's Warren Buffett will decide Warren Buffett is the largest shareholder. In Wells Fargo he's owned a lot of this bank for an awfully long time and he has been noticeably. Silent on this issue he is not made a statement. No you art he hasn't said anything to this point. And you got to imagine that you know mr. Buffett's probably gathering the facts right now it's gonna take a little bit of time for him to figure out exactly where this goes now Ike goes and I'll tell you look if there is a path that ends up hitting back to the C level executives. There's no doubt that stump should be gone but given what we know right now I don't think there's enough to be able to say that. I will predict now that there will be an early retirement for mr. Stumpf I had to guess. The early retirement announcement will come. On the Thursday before Easter weekend with a Friday before Memorial Day. It would be news dump and he'll say. Yeah I decided I wanna spend more time with my family 63 years old mr. stump he's been the CEO of Wells Fargo for I believe twelve years. Done an admirable job by the stockholders I mean he he they skirted the sec the the whole mortgage thing they were not involved in the in the mortgage banking crisis. No it's in this is what makes this whole thing from Wells Fargo I think so confusing to a lot of people who know the banking who have looked out at his book based largely. Performed a lot better than a lot of other companies through the financial crisis because they didn't take on risk where they didn't need to. And that's what this boils down to UN employees taking risk in doing something illegal that they didn't need to do and it's so out of character for the bank that I think that's what people were surprised by it. Ironically. During is soon as the senate testimony. Concluded. The value of Wells Fargo shares increased by two point eight billion dollars. So stockholders. And investors. Like you chuck had a similar. Response saying yet this is not a big deal in because what are the company losing market cap over fairly short period time was it down 121000015. Million. In that ballpark he gave back most of yesterday's gains early this morning when a dead yeah. Yeah overnight gave back pretty much all those gains and you survive now. Yeah and Bob Iger in early you get people it's one of the few financial companies that is that is down mean JPMorgan continuing to move Bob PNC. Bank New York you know all the all the big guys moving up the wells. Argo down a wonderful claw back you've got that one executive. Who's retiring at the end of the year with a 112 million dollars of that to package what are they claw back some of that that they go after stump for some of the money that type of stockholders. If they were Smart they would now. Tucker we have a poll question as we do every day what is our poll question how to lose and how does that but he participate. Yeah everybody can just color what sex financial exchange showed dot com and in. Cast their vote in our poll question today which is should John Stumpf be fired as CEO of Wells Fargo. So far 69% saying yes while 30% saying no. What is the what do the numbers 169. Yes thirty now while it 68680. Is our text number we're only talking about commercial real state when we return will be joined by David Lynn. He's the CEO of Everest investment property its commercial real estate firm. Jake who whose senior vice president at leader bank. Leader bank does tremendous amount of mortgage loans as a matter fact I've used them a couple times to refinance properties in the past. Jake how's the mortgage does it it's been an extremely busy Barea. There are a lot of people buying homes so that kept the purchase market very very busy and on top of that racers to an all time lows we've a lot of folks who are refinancing their homes eager to get a better rate or some cash out because their properties appreciate it that's there's gonna ask how does somebody know where they should call to refine. Well you know. Dude there's really 22 ways if they feel that the rate can be improved. Give us a rate and you know thirty year fixed racer all time lows. If you had anything in the in the 4% range frankly give us in my view he's something. Or if you need to take some cash and of your property wondered for a college tuition for kids or just at home equity lines of credit we have home equity lines of credit as well and the cool thing about that is. If you already had a green reader on your first mortgage you know home equity line of credit which will leave your first loan as it is an idea access the equity. Makes an awful lot of sense and you've got fifteen year fixed rate mortgages by your adjustable rate mortgage all types and flee we we have all types of that in addition to that were actually very active Jumbo and yourself. And properties have really appreciated in the markets in Massachusetts. There's been higher demand for Jumbo loans that we do a lot of that last year Berry were actually not the number two home purchase letter Massachusetts. It for you congratulations. All right we are joined now by doctor David Lynn now will be just give you a little bit of his background. He attended and graduated from MIT a three at your MBA from. I am writing yes all right and then you went to London school and economics to get your Ph.D. Aren't so. You know the he may not have the same educational background and I have. Which is a compliment. He's also the author of book the book is called the advisors guy eight commercial real estate investment it's available on Amazon.com. And any other place great books are sold. We're talking about commercial real estate because. Earlier this week Eric Rosen friend who I'm sure you're familiar with. Came out and said well I think there's a bubble being created in the commercial real estate market curious as to your perspective on that you work in this field every day. Well thank you to pick on an action. You know tacit persons in general around the world are very inflated because the cost of capital has been very low for two bunkers time. But where else are gonna put your money right it's really go to and his and Tina are yet here. While set and I think presses are a bit frothy and some of the global gateway markets of this country and put in the global context the US has been the most attractive. Investment destinations in the entire world for many years now Brent safety of the currency and you need your money back. It right rule of law. The fact that you know and things here few simple new example in China and other big reels it market you can and its volleys well so a number of things make this very attractive markets were seen a confluence of factors. Low cost of capital. Very good returns Yunus. And a safe haven to park their money said the global gateway cities go to our. Agreeing that their truck there what's that bubble and but very look apparatus which is that initial yield that you by the property that. And it they've gone that to record low levels that even before 2000 in under 2007 levels which is a in some way is a kind of alarming but in in other ways you can look at it it's real property and it has real intrinsic value in it produces an income albeit it and kind of load now you know 345%. David you know a lot of us look at the real estate market we say oh my gosh and wouldn't wanna own shopping mall today you know lady I I would think. That that's a precarious place to be but then I look at other sectors and antiquities seemingly somewhat underserved and speaking of health care you know I. I would think. Right now it is just my personal observation based on what I see going on but you drive by a major mall and they're not as busy do it online shopping. And yet you keep hearing about shortages of health care space. Well thank you that's awful for all or are now whole business model is about health care who it is OK it's. Commute I did not know in Houston it is the just just it's just my observation I mean the pop the countries getting very old are right. And EEU you keep hearing about shortages in and of of health care and health care space it would make sense to me that that price be pretty good place to invest. It is indeed that's where focused on the population's getting older they beat mr. returned to the 101000 per day. People find that hard to believe it is staggering you tell somebody that I I told chuck that may be a month or two ago. And he didn't believe me in any what looked it up in any apologize for not believe that. Well it's a huge population cohort it's nearly straw. And and the baby boomers aren't the wealthy Houston and help its population co were human history living along. While people unfortunately it appears he didn't. And and seen a part cost pressure on hospitals from Medicare. That relate to increase staff. The doctors there for issues has really mushroomed continued. And also the case Obama care and will bring. Thirty to four people an excuse in two. Health care system. He can get operations get hip replacement heart surgeries things like that and Damien eight deferred maintenance. Yeah also so we like medical rules because necessity treatment that's non discretionary after that like archery at retail. As another one of those things like yes you have to lead. And multifamily had to live somewhere in the multifamily office very the affordable housing option plans that it is more affordable. In many markets for example players in new York and Austin and then by and Tom. But your common and Margarito is spot on two there's been huge dislocation. Notes of the Internet over the last fifteen years. So it's news to be accelerated absolutely. You know there are Internet sales so that double digits. And then Earl yeah brick and mortar cells are close to 3%. So wouldn't when you look at a large retail mall rate it from an investment perspective are you looking at that and say well gee can we convert that into health care facilities somehow. As we saw one very great Syrian in the Boston area down now in Chestnut Hill used to be something called the atrium mall bread and in the shopping. You know we can we do you know that the retails nation of medical care is a big trend we're banking on. And so our format that we invest in the scope that the medical office building -- beaten and so it's an outpatient. Care delivery system easily connect to the house also those to be standalone or regional centers are very popular. Adaptive reuse of Rita says but but retail senators there are some of them are Diana Levine. And that does not grow anymore so it re tilted to succeed in this country needs be more experiential more service oriented flight medical. Like personal services like restaurants and those tend to be a little more successful and have hearts our ability it. We're joined by doctor David Lynn and we're talking about commercial real state. How does somebody your book is written YouTube he wrote a book called the advisors guide to commercial real estate investment that's for advisors that's that's for guys that are. Stock brokers investment advisors and fiduciary. But as a consumer. I'm listen into the show on driving down route 95 and I think all hey I get it right I think there is an opportunity how does an individual investor. Reese or healthcare real estate investment opportunities. One wrote another book called the investors cut to commercial real stick so this is for the consumer right for the consumer that's post under an institute. And itself also available on on Amazon and places. You know I think there's a lot of good information. About reefs so real it investment trust zepa which accompanies lot of public information available there actively traded. So that's great information a lot of disclosures and it's a good way to invest dividends. Dividends it for for a poke Richard reits tend to be in the mid threes are very good that's better than coach certainly somebody who's retiring race somebody you know tires for my idea understand handing it to me and obstruct your question. It David what we're of course that I have a lot of people look at you know there's a few different core areas of real estate you look at you get your basic residential we've got multifamily residential. Commercial industrial. In a downturn. What types of realistic typically hold of the best I know it's tough sector in a downturn anyways but which tend to be the most stable there and talk like that. As knowing the medical rules that report shows wouldn't disclose nothing that at. So medical it Israelis. It's almost recession purpose because you need to happen right yesterday. Yours yours aren't on your family members Shia and music that lets a hospital right you know if you have medical church certainly. If you don't go and and to care for that so. Alec necessity things like incursion into retail multifamily is very. Stores and that does very well recession because often people moved down there ultimately. At least advocates. Com and student student housing and Robert Trent last ten years in populations and balloons and and there's that are all else that you know certainly medical. In the Mobi format it is there's huge demand for it and we see that going on for the increase in the next couple decades. All right thank you very much for joining us that's for doctor David Lynn he's the author of the book the advisors guide to commercial real estate investment pick it up and Amazon.com. Over the power line this would be fantastic. In the testing out a new technology they call it aired gig and what they do is they put an antenna on top of a telephone pole. And pretty much what they they do then is there's a special I guess frequency and inspect the amount of wireless technology. That pretty much they they blast out that follows the Powell so. Not on the power lines no it's pretty much traveling around the powerline which is it. Kind of interesting how they've been able to do this this radio that frequently it's got to be a radio I don't know the exact frequency radio typically is to two longer frequency to be able to have something this directed so. I don't know exactly what they're using my guess it's some variation on microwave frequencies that what you're typically seeing for this type. Of attempt you well I get. Get signal to someone. But they're they filed pads for this technology. They're hoping to try some trials next year this could be something that if they're successful winning changer for AT&T. It's big. You know it's it's definitely big it's definitely something that can help them be one of the guys to stem the tide is people disconnect from cable and move in other directions. It gives them an alternative yeah right. Right now if you live in a rural area you may not have any options. But even like if you live here in the northeast there are many communities we don't have much in the way of options while in terms of how you get your Internet service now you have AT&T and everybody else. And here you know the other thing that's nice about eighteen tee does have to build anything you got power lines and place it anywhere that someone is you've got power on so just look you install one of these things. You potentially have been an act on them. Tucker Silva we're gonna be calling on you for the poll question we have a poll today. And it has to do with our good friend mr. Stahl CEO of Wells Fargo. Yes and once again you can vote online financial exchange showed dot com and the question is should John Stumpf the fired as CEO. Of Wells Fargo and it's trending slightly downward for the yeses it's at 61%. And the 30% know. But he we should require days are we requiring proof of stock ownership. No no malice or anybody yes and oh yeah. We literally anybody can you should only be allowed to vote field stock. The the cost if you're stockholder in apple you're pretty happy about this next story. Yes it cost to produce and I phone seven is the base won the cost 649. Cost to produce is about 219. Dollars now east ever feel like screw. I don't know keep in mind. Apple's got the margins you know those margins. Oddest day ago lowered their mean c'mon it undergoes more seniors probably costs a part of that was taxed paid like sixty bucks on an island in taxes should probably cost somewhere around 350 to build. You'd be more in Connecticut new cost more. Whose sales taxes tax higher. But yeah I mean look. Apple has always at bat mark why people like the company that margin to between thirty and 40%. 7%. And he assured me a thousand bucks us. Would you say cost of 300 yup this doesn't factor in marketing this doesn't factor in real estate this doesn't factory in salespeople you know. This is just the construction so I don't know the other pieces that's a and it you know it probably and other. 300 ordered box in order market in style and transport in this I still feel like that's what you did well. You know keep it might feel better knowing Houston and I think you've got to remember anytime you try to get through wanna know that. Experts are very I've got a great way it is for everyone here so you know you're getting screwed on something if you are buying something from someone you are is they're selling it. You for more than it's worth to them that's like that's. That's how this works. They if they wanted to try to cheer me I'm not working every time you buy something you get screwed every. And actually start rolling at the double him dog what would they could charge the here he said eight bucks in Australia but how much is in US dollars a dollar 25. And it's not Canada. He could probably get if you're like a good plays later like by some guys you pay for you walked into a five guys you locked in. We'll shake shack would never done this could involve creativity. But McDonald's McDonald's like it's nine dollars over right and I got out of five got all the flat at McDonald's sex. Really that much as the six mcdonalds. I would reduce the bread on. Anything involving hot dogs them on the interest you've got a hot dog and then instead of the other patty staying together you grind it all up. And so it is kind of sprinkled hamburger around so it. Yeah RJ talking about Dinara here it is probably no one out there who hasn't eaten at one at least once in their life but this is a company that. I think there's some questions about the stock has pulled back a little bit in the last month goal from the 220 rained down to below 200. Can you talk a little bit about maybe why it is slid and if you were bullish or bearish at this. Yeah I think the reason why it's slim and I think we've seen this across much of the restaurant space. In recent months is there's it's. Increasing concern about what or looking that's potentially a restaurant recession if you look at overall category yes insert sales trends that all the declining. Throughout the year. And most up on the traffic side to people are going to restaurants less often. And I think a big part of it right now has to do with the fact if you look at the jackets are price index for between restaurants and groceries. And how to much more affordable it's that the fight back suit the current source and that's what an impact on overall traffic at that the restaurants. But I think shortsighted for investors are right off just all of restaurant and has. Not like it's you know at this point spread of the reasons for that I had ample front and Aaron is that they're doing a lot eventually things it's. Did to drive greater throughput to make it easier to get into it in and now the restaurants the change in many to make it much more. Better healthier better for you we don't have handout from the menu he had an air locations. And then also the giving more to delivering catering which is a nice you know waited augment model sales but also highly probable that compliance up lots pulled back and I get the reasons why I think that this is one that's reduced amount via one of the leaders in the space for many years com. Urge is there any concern about valuation on this company I look at them right now they're trading about two time sales may be a little bit less than that. But. That the sales growth has been a little bit lackluster over the last twelve months really glad the last two years or so. Hasn't been at the pace that they they've seen previously is that anything that concerns you at all. I think if the person out if you look at the last nine months really the company has been well ahead not only the proper restaurant category but even exceeding. The task Ashley category receive a lot you know that's growing at high topping. Result are companies that group. And a lot of had to do with that those initiatives that the content source I think one of the key things that. In the mail and now in the pop world we live in is that it's not just you know have a great product yes have to be very quick and convenient it. To really cater to to consumers it's about adding technology and and maybe some actual labor to make it really hit a three month process get in and out quick. It's really connecting consumers may have actually been ahead or sales curve. But two point about actual revenue to part with possibly going on the air the title but every franchising the moving company implications to the hands of some of its franchisees. Which can impact the overall revenue number. But what have water term benefits. On overall profitability does think it was some of these initiatives are putting in place right now. They are costly up front so adding an idea that extra technology that action that labor. But the thing is that that that we have seen him really impressive sales result of those occasions that dom that mortgage think think it is not that all the company you know locations that make these upgrades. Now the to have franchisees do it which you get the silt that that the you don't also have to put up the cost itself. That's a couple real much margin tale land and yes and stronger terms about a capital by doing that that's our report comes stock right now. Let's talk a little bit about that our technology we've only got about a minute left so after be quick here but the you know I've used it there that the mobile ordering. And it's it's amazing how much more quickly can get in and out what kind of adoption have they seen there. Yet there right now. They are probably the industry leader in terms of a number of users actively use terror in terms of percentage orders coming at. They say that right now 50% of there their their loyalty program borders. Not comfortable by turnout they've got a lot of five and the mobile probably more than anybody else that's amid a Starbucks they got a lot of purchase station and that's what that also. What does as you know two point it's very easy to use it and frankly we've heard very little complaints about people would you know that the order get me wrong but also does it creep up a lot of capacity within the restaurants that you get people through the rest a lot quicker at this point. Are you very ancient story and that I think it shall have the blueprint for what that's to a concern or fear not start fast Agile company eloquent and parenting and try to emulate what what they've what they've achieved. Are good RJ thank you very much for joining us. RJ how to be from morning start talking about the narrow PNRA. Is ticker more than those up mobile order numbers are impressive they. If you wanna know what's gonna be in the business section of tomorrow's newspaper you have to listen to the financial exchange today. Because I promise you when you wake up tomorrow and take a look at the newspaper you read the stories in there. Front and center. Will be the story. Related to apple and their purchase of an automobile company trucks not a very Armstrong joining you on the financial exchange in breaking. News. Yeah this is a us story it's coming out of the Financial Times would that apple is in talk with luxury carmaker McLaren. To put a deal together to absorb the now McLaren. We don't quite know what the valuation is on the are and I privately held company but. I don't see I alluded to taking guests. I'm gonna guess they're gonna pay one point six billion US dollars on the guess they pay three billion really. Yeah I think you're gonna pay premiums taken from being a private company and in absorbing them and apple know it's not official but I'm seeing and where two billion. And that's yes that's what a lot of people are speculating so it's this look I've been very skeptical Apple's. Forays into the automotive industry because they've never done it before. They don't have any manufacturing experience all apple doesn't make any of their own products they outsource all the manufactured in there but McLaren doesn't make many cars he'd throw. Well they don't make many but they do manufacture east and so what apple is trying to do here is they wanna go after the luxury car market which I think makes sense I don't think. I don't like the idea of apple trying to go and make. A mass produced vehicle forever when it's never Apple's done it's there's a misconception that the iPhone is you know that the phone forever one. Iphone's high and fault if you're a luxury fault. I agree that but I was looking at the price of the McLaren it's a million dollars for car I mean who the heck is gonna pay a million dollars for a car and apple car. Well there are not going to I don't think they'll and a pricing them all in that range and I don't think they're going to go after the high end Mercedes and BMW mark so hundred to 200000 range and kind of where that where you see a lot of the top and castles right now I think that is the market. That they want to go after simply because the margins are gonna be fatter there and they're going to be able. To really build a premium product I think that is how they're going to go back out I think they can compete with Tesla. If they absorb a McLaren and actually bring in a company with automotive experience. I think they can't go before this I am I had no faith in them to be able to in this. Ernie on us English McLaren you would think of as an English company in the are located in England but they're actually owned by a marine but. Sovereign funds. Right yet to what's what's interesting about this is that. Much like who was the other two trying to remember this is an admission that apple can't do this on their own. You elevate you had all those engineers quit or get fired with a new we reported we reported that. A major portion of the apple engineers and their card division I quit or got fired within the last two weeks. Is like wall they argue and advance this is like Wal-Mart buying jet dot com it's there admitting that they can't do on their own name and I have to go and by someone in order to do. We thought they should have done this from the very beginning you thought they're going into trying to create your own car was a mistake I I thought they might buy somebody like GM. The evidently are going much higher and or thought they could buy tests they could have bought tests they get by Tesla I don't think they wanna pay the premium for Tesla. New well right in their buying this for 23 billion dollars compared to test food cost like 40000000030 million. What is interesting is that you on mosque would be a very interest in CEO for apple. And Yao would need kind of Steve Jobs ask. Yeah I mean it's in in that would in the year you were trying to cook to his role as geo aware of Tim Cook is. The best operator out there is phenomenal in terms of those the vision. I don't know manner that he eat you know operators are diamond he built like he dictionaries error one totally. He did what Steve Jobs needed him to do to build up right in the they were flawless with their their execution from 2000 through. 2010 and they didn't make no mistake name his name the one product that he came that's like earth that they didn't make a mistake and that is all. On Tim Cook. A idea I'll take that as a concession on his epithet at. Well yeah I mean hasn't created no and off angrily at. But he covered a headphone jacks your job as the iPad owner look he's again I don't think he is a CEO I don't think he's the guy who's that visionary but I think in terms of guys who execute. We'll look at what he is like you've never have issues like with the Samsung phone blowing up. All right we we have a poll question today and you get to decide. As to whether or not John stump he's the CEO of wells farm you. Yet to decide as to whether or not he gets fired actually built in order to decide that yet though shares of stock. Elizabeth Warren seems to think that she's allowed to decide. That he gets fired but. Tucker Silva with our poll question and how to people participate people can go on our website financial change or dot com to cast their votes and so far 66%. Are saying yes that John should be fired in 33% are saying no and that. 68680s. Or text number governor Malloy. And the state legislature in Connecticut. Have evidently reached a deal to keep this a Sikorsky. Headquartered. In Sikorsky. Headquartered in Connecticut. Yet this is a deal where a state of Connecticut is going to be providing up to 220 million dollars in state aid in exchange for keeping. Sikorsky in the in the us state and potentially increasing jobs there. They've agreed to build 200 of the CH 53 K king stallion heavy lift helicopters. In Connecticut until at least 2032. So. Gives them an additional lifeline here in order to keep the company in Connecticut here. So horse he had them over a barrel. Oh they I mean just about any business today has Connecticut over it. Judiciary of their losses in the they they lost GE. In and that's when it all started unraveled that's when Sikorsky knew hey we can get whatever we want. I mean if if your business in Connecticut. You've got some leverage its it unit that you have to be a big business right if you have a hundred employees don't care. Rate if you have 8000 employees then they care yep you got you know you get it over a thousand employees. They start to get into that that range where it makes it real impact on the a state Connecticut on. How much money do you make you make six figures in I was surprised when I read this it's hard to feel story. For somebody making six figures that a new survey attempts to drum up some sympathy for the depleted bank accounts of these high rollers. Close to one half. Of those who earn a 10249000. Dollars a year have less than a thousand dollars in their savings account shame on you. It's pretty amazing when you think that I of people thought even say it just put 1% of their savings away in a basic savings account now obviously cast doesn't earn you a whole lot. But you still only to have just a basic rainy day fund that it appears that the more money people make the more they spent their their water tends to find its own level. Go banking rates did the survey and they founder would what's shocking is it almost doesn't matter how much money. No date people spend whatever they make it and evidence of that as you look at. Professional athletes that are making under 2000005000000010. Million dollars a year. Invariably they seem to be broke within months of their careers and. Now a lot of times that they've bought their family of vehicles and clothes and everything that you know it shopping sprees in this and that and you know unfortunately this is this is proof here that even if you are making a hundred a 100000 a 149000. A year almost half those people don't even have a thousand bucks put away for rainy day. On Wednesday as we talk to business owners we invited business owner every Wednesday to join us in studio talked about what they do for a living. Name pronunciation and it. Watch a lot of basketball ought to look Lithuanian basketball players that's where I get it from I think so we've got halts that's a cabbages thank you. With us today outstanding I'm glad I got through that. You did great you did great so in import European electronics business correct but you're in this whole thing we keep hearing about the connected home. That's correct and when somebody says it to me I look like a note that they're talking about that in all honesty what is it connected now because I don't really well. Basically it's you know I think that term that is used mostly over the past decade is Smart and mark you. It's released as the immigration not just your audio video but these days it's like. You know my lights that I missed that thermostats in each act SQ generation security system. Odd door locks. Eyes nose and pat in the door. And codes so cleanly. On. Email and stuff so it's just. It's kind of a way to communicate with house and it's it's great because you know these days because commodity it's time now in its right around audiences like. Okay tonight the lights are right at the heat and. Or immunity away for month and on economic progress exactly. Is it a whole cameras to be the yeah yeah like to see if you want people doing cameras aren't sure yet we do a lot more that these days so the that your name your company is soundscape that's what services do you all for it. I'm pretty dazed it's. Health it kind of starts with the whole audio video thing and whenever because Enders company called controlled for and they're the ones that kinda you know. The integrate all the stuff but it all starts with that one room weekend's TV and you know as you know it's like well most of the TV and cable box dvd player in yup roku and apple all that so it starts with what we call home theater controller movement and that'll do you know it's one remotely. Of course it's also happened Scioscia Smart about it. Device you can control that also men but basically it's the starting point and it has the brains inside too and communicate to. Light switches your HVAC control how does that. Really explain that part because I'm I suffer and mine and he was controlling. His air conditioning. From a hundred miles away because he knew it was going back to the house and he'd been away for weeks and turned off the air conditioning. Any wanted to be cool when he got home so how do you do that over the phone and he and Ali did is he what is happening and ask what he's duties he used changing the temperature cocker. In his house that was a hundred miles away. While worsen in Connecticut well. Basically the systems network pace so I mean this is the first part of this new is does that you know and signing the network and you know obviously we're still the mercy of them Internet providers but. Because it is a network space program. And from your phone songs are you know whether it's sheer Wi-Fi you you know load the app and say hey what's the temperature my house and what's. Eighty degrees that are you know. Can change absolutely. So where does the homeowners. And that's that's a year. You you you you buy a new house you're building a house you're building a new house that's how that's front easy right. Sure I mean you know it's also designs for you know cute. We can use existing structure is it wireless original running cables in your house vote for him council light switch to. Communicate. Back to control. I think. Where to start aliases and that's tough spark mark what's that. You know so what you do what's important man in the beginning with its its really an education process is not a lot of people though that. While I can control from under thousand miles away yet so you know we try educators best gospels look here's all things can be. And it's a sense of pride or. And each year in some who hires so yeah who. Who is at all like the rich people from Nantucket the words that your client. It's it's a mixed bag because referral. The first. Thing I regret. I can bet that you know by a unity at a thousand voicemail messages when you back your. Oh so. But he you know there's no like one's demographic and color. Hello I mean it's. Again it gets down to likes you know so it's it's what's important. Some notes on. One's spouse that's music sports TV sports so everybody's customizing. With the correct correct. So what's the typical process you come out you can expect out what needs to be done to talk with people figure out what they want and then afterwards how long's typically take to get the work done. Depends on the scope were coming but yet in the beginning it's a lot more. Conversation and stuff like that so we come out obviously for free and check out the house and it's really more discussion like you know what kind of music to listen to know what you do in the morning we go to the coffee. You know do you have. Financial news network router do you feel this idea of sports or whatever and so once she kind of natural down to. What they do and then he's start educating as far as what can happen yet so it's eleventh via big picture questions ago. So who do you hire like Jews like I'm I'm trying to envision. We you do you walk in in my house and I say while I wanna put TV here and I don't wanna be of the listen to music out of my deck and I want to -- of control the temperature. From far away selecting home but I also wanna have cameras on my house because it teenagers and one. He would keep and I'm sure they're not burn things down we. So I'm trying to envision what type of worker in what type of employee do you bring on to facilitate the service. That's been our biggest challenge because finding workers oh cute I mean because it's not like. Nugget 25 years to this so you know within the industry and a lot of people you know the guys that are. To agree to and happy there and happy and making lots of money and you know but it's it's you know so. Understanding electronics is one thing you know I think the key thing as far as Canada we look fours is really communication. Yeltsin talked to decline in and kind of understudy typically electricians. Novel no we tried that. And it's you know because. Electricians have a code you know which we also follow not Burke Connolly outside. And then of course it's it's not just electrical so I mean you can get a guy that understands electronics. And myself what you know construction note on them on. It certainly gonna put a speaker in that wall and you assess optimal what's in the wallets apple consenting typing it you know so you have to understand. You know how houses are constructed. So what do you typically do for an employee. A little bit of both you know again I as site. Used to run Tweeter it's like you know trying to popularly crews and do you know brought in England like. OK as long as you understand the concept to communicate well and you know mechanically inclined and your willing to learn at a fast pace than. That that's that one you know group works him maybe young gunners like that. And then there's guys you know thinking my teacher hopefully anger that you know have experience and it's you know we tried both avenues with better for him. I cannot and mixed reviews from. So how would you rate the employment market today in terms of finding help do it because like I talked to guys in the trades whether to each BAC plumbing electrical. Construction and they all tell me there have and it Dickenson at time finding good worker. 100% on upside I have the same you know challenges is that we should worry is it lack of inventory. Lack of inventory thing you know because you can you can train somebody new you know they have those keys skills were up. But again it's it's also a time thing so you know if you got a guys it's not really aggressive and young and he's. You know doing a warehouse job Macon 25 bucks an hour and you say well on the change of life now and take good care of you who you know learn a great experiences. It's much easier. And you know can be replaced by a robot for a fifth week yeah you mention the warehouse worker. There are 800000 warehouse workers today and they're all gonna be unemployed in the next five years because if they don't know that. He immediately if you work in a warehouse today I hope you understand your job is being eliminated that robot but that's besides the point this is a job. Your job would never be replaced by iRobot has everything custom. Correct correct so you know it's like. You know when you we have conversations with folks like that it's like okay well yeah I can't you know pays that much fun you know we can lead ski view career path right in if you can always thought the job in five years or more yes that's how to. Listeners get in touch with you that one if period student in talking about a job war if they reached it in finding out about your company's services and if you can help them with these connected homes while its web site itself to abuse at some landscapes that's plural. This next story brings a smile to the face of shocks audit it has to do with that Harvard endowment. It does and what we have seen from the Harvard endowment is that. There investment returns on their 38 billion dollar endowment. Have been relatively muted compared to some of their peers in fact in the last ten years Harvard has averaged just seven point 6%. Which trails Dartmouth by one point 2% might I ask them and is actually fifth there rather sixth in the Ivy League. Behind Princeton Columbia which are tied for first place with ten point 1% annualized returns. Cornell. Trailing the pack at seven point 2% what's the problem. That the bad managers now. Did it in a different way of managing money they do they've always manage their money a little bit differently in terms of how they've done this they've effectively use some more of a hybrid model. Where they give money outside managers but also managed some of internally liberal trading desk which I would have been kind of amazing isn't it. You know that the fact they have that but they're trying to figure out what to do in terms of a higher outside managers would be if they want to keep their own internal trading senate the exact same way. But the fact is. You know the last couple years last decade really has not been the strongest Ford and Yale historically has been the model that everyone's tried to emulate you know just keeps dude. 10% annually for the last ten years 45 billion dollar and you know they endowment there. I Princeton. Prince stand it Princeton was tied for first with Colombia ten point 1%. And I think you find also about the three the three endowments in the Ivy League that word the strongest performing. People who have headed the mob have been there Princeton's. Chief has been there for 21 years Colombia's for fourteen. Yale's for 31 years now. They say that part of the problem at Harvard is there's too much pressure. On the guys and that they its local pressure in everybody's second guessing every investment they make. A look with great power comes great responsibility Spider-Man taught me that and its new outlook if you if you wanna sit in the big boy chair you gotta kinda an opponent have both been rare and energy yeah you make lots of money Jesse's pressures and out you don't want the pressure don't take the job. Irrevocable trust again the phone number one last time. 8668485699. Good news for those of you who own a Samsung. Bomb phone. They are getting about half a million new phones today. Yep 500000 gonna be available as of today Sampson is leaving it up to retailers to see how they want they still slot at the New Orleans and new ones know they these are not nearly as exciting as the previous ones they are unfortunately for people who were fireworks and there's EST can't use them as you know starters are pretty quick. That he would admit it is pretty quick turner. It's been what two weeks maybe two and a half since the start yeah like the era their maiden Korea writes in the and the batteries I think are made in China the ones who were exploding. And they they're getting them here I'm I'm impressed that missed a full animal you better hope they fix the problem. But you better hope they fix the problem now. What do you make of this story and and what are your thoughts on the EB five. Visa program if you guys don't know what it is it's a visa program where foreigners can effectively body. He green card and then eventually citizenship in the United States. For about half a million bucks. You know what the program was intended to be used for was for development of underdeveloped areas that's why. The investment was sought after unfortunately what we've seen. As that the program has been marred by some pretty significant abuses the most notable one being the odd Jay peak fraud. That. It was a cover what was that about six months ago maybe it was earlier this year their members and an early in sixteen yes six or seven months ago and in general I'm in favor of the EB five program because what it is it saying look you're not from here. Invest in the US and you're able to. You moved to the front of the line in terms is and should be got to invest at least 500000 dollars so there we're talking about sizable investment in US for businesses and US areas. But there's so much fraud in this program about in terms of where the money ends of going. Well they've been using it to fund real estate developments and really when I heard about the program initially I was enthusiastic about because I thought it meant. They were gonna buy I don't know like a motel. In a remote area that and run it and fix it up and raise their family there and become pillars of the Ryder almost half or. You know you figured OK it's a situation where you know you go into a part of Detroit that's struggling and you start a business there's that you can employ it cool things like that right. One fortunately not trying to develop you know condos at a ski resort that's not quite what the program was intended for and so. You know I think that a lot of businesses that use that as a way to find additional capital they wouldn't have access to otherwise. And I think that you need to find some way to adjust that just of the you know running into the same problems it's it is a problem. And it. It expires at the end of September right so we're talking about a week and a half this thing's going to be gone. I think you'd I I would like the program to continue I I think yours if it's a wise thing. To allow wealthy foreigners to coming to the United States and by citizenship I think there needs to be better policing. Of the program and it needs to eat a I don't think you should be of the use it. To buy a finance a Condo development he now because that's what's been happening refine it to ski resort in Vermont. He didn't we see some of these salaries for Wallach at Stuyvesant town in Manhattan and things like that I mean it's the the whole idea it was supposed to be 500000. If you invested in a remote and depressed area used Detroit as an example. You know there's different parts of the country that you could uses examples that are economically depressed I see going in you buying existing restaurant in them. Hartford Connecticut Springfield Massachusetts. And and and you think that's good you know they open up Chinese restaurant there gonna try to make it go but they're gonna hire workers in and pay payroll taxes that's on that. That is going to be a million dollars if you wanted to be. In that part of the year country like you are to be in San Francisco's gonna million bucks the Latvian man who's going to be in the and the beast still. You're supposed to have to buy a business they're not buying business knows that they're doing his. Basically finance real estate investment yeah which the you know. You know if it's not what I had not one of these would anyone had in mind. People asking what the poll results were yesterday on the legalization. Of recreational marijuana. I saw them turn it we don't want people participate it was I think it was like 65% said no right. And we a lot of coaches it's noted record number of double voting on that so. The vast majority of our audience saying no in the in your working on aghast as well to about this young girls are all we've done is giving you. The proponents. Perspective on legalize recreational marijuana we have not yet and everybody. This perspective of somebody who's opposed yep in the year chief of the Walpole police department will be joining us tomorrow at 1018 to you provide the opposition. That's Carmichael whose that is yes chief John Carmichael. Good it blows it out of the idea a good segment to to have been and will for certainly share the results of I'm you know couple stories that we are following on whale. And that one I'll read this headline T oil and gas could see the longest period of declining investment in the history of the industry. The other story is how bad off as oil rich Venezuela it's buying US soil that's that. And then oil lifted by hopes a deal to cap output fall in new supplies. Did a lot of stories regarding royalty is a very important commodity I don't know that there's a more important commodity right frankly and oil. Anything about what do we silver gold. Copper polite give those that grounds by having no alternate gassed out there's vehicles and and need the oil is. They platinum how many people use it under these silver and guests and our computers need gold for instance. You know if it doesn't have an industrial part and electronics. As it entities that. A connector and seasonal lot of those but it's it's still a small piece of that yet oil look. Far away I think the most important commodity that we have because without it you don't have the trucks that are going to and from those construction sites you don't have airplanes that are flying things internationally up. You'd you just don't you don't have boats that are taking things internationally. It is the most important commodity. I think we have to. I'm glad we agree. Pay so to that end we will be joined by actress lane he's in the oil business sees he's an oil per produced not producer. And oil delivery company. Any ace and a service company in a plumbing company the math fact he's my oil and he's gonna join us in the next segment talked to us about. Floating your oil prices ID do you lock in now I think that's an option Greek and say OK how about one Milwaukee in my price for the winter. Or he can buy certain number of gallons today. That it wanted to 89 and two days and the average Apple's service dealers around 229. Seats when Nina that is great news for oil customers. Now they're now you know we. Recently we've covered some stories Chris related to the dangers of buying cheap gasoline and have been some documented stories where there unity go to a no name gas station. And the gases. Deficient in one way or another and does a lot of damage to your home. Is the same did thing. He can the same thing be said it does flood damage to your car is he in the same thing be said about home heating oil. Honestly he would Barry I don't think so there is a difference between home heating oil in net with full service dealers many of them are putting. Higher efficiency additive and and and they're also selling a buyer eat which is a clean there. Lower so far. And it helps the systems they company no longer so you actually gain efficiency so you're getting. Kind of more miles per gallon out of that. That. Gallon of oil but this account is no I wouldn't say it's gonna hurt your system I think what you really have to be aware of it's just to Europe due diligence to make sure that they aren't sure properly. Make sure that that they're going to be there when you need them adult which could take it too low so what there is a problem that many of them adjust. Honest guys with a with a truck or two and now they're trying to make a living. And they need time to get to your house or they may when he ran into a weather problem or mechanical problems so that's really it's not so much the oil. It's what it's a delivery process. Okay so what about price walks in you. When you when you're sitting here 'cause the last couple years probably were great years to locking your price because the prices kept coming down. But if you're sitting here at 229 a gallon. Can you walk that price in today and make sure that you're not gonna pay more than that for the balance of the winter. Well you're absolutely right the last two years were not good years what goes that law and and quite frankly I. There was a lot of stress I heard a lot of trust trust customers about. We are trying to decide winch airlock and how much are locked in at what price and and it today I mean the prices soul so soft they historically. Yeah you could block it in if you want a two part. We have probably we have thousands of customers and I've that we don't have a hundred customers that have won it aloft and they really just wanna focus on. Getting a good price and they wanted to conserve. They want to have burn a service. After the last two winters my old went are you up quite frankly I think a lot of people would just not. That's focused on. On there of this current went that they'd just been kind of lulled to sleep so they should get its service to. And they should take the boat. And conservation. Call mass save if you haven't already did an energy audit those who have a prudent thing to do a lot lot in his not really that popular right now. What how lost indeed need to have your oil burners service. It should be done annually that's a good rule of thumb if you use if you have a very large house in using thousands accounts and then have it done. Happily Tutsis and as well. By you know the other thing is that a lot of folks are diversifying how he get home it's not just a the central heating system they'll have a propane fireplace so they'll have. These new doc systems that not only cool. You know the Mitsubishi had tickets to date state dinner only cool but they eat. So it's that it's that. There's a lot of diversification out there as far as how you're a teacher home. Chris you were talked earlier about your oil tanks and not to let it get to lol I have a gauge on the top of mind in it you know it's I think it says full. Three quarters half or quarter in an empty on it at how low should you let it go before you order you next tank of oil. If you are using your calling your oil I would call it creates habits and it came between half and a quarter. Executive supplier plenty of time. And how long does it usually take that if you call your oil man at three aces he's gonna come out. In a week in two days what's a reasonable I would. Six million people two business days to do is just able to oftentimes they they can make it that tape but depending on whether an eroding. And how many trucks they have. That that dose of actors. All right Chris thank you very much for joining us we appreciate you take care that's Chris lane and he is the CEO and owner of caravan lien whole oil.
