Investors are beginning to talk about Dow over 191000. Wasn't that long ago when you're sitting here gosh I remember like it was yesterday in early February of 2016. And I got struck how much what was the Dow trading at it as if we went back we dial back the clock. The Dow that are real basic February 7 of 2011. Was the bottom. And eleven was the bottom right does it. 5660. And here we are but let's say organ hit 191000 but my god news you're sitting at 181005. And change and made it there you see city no upper limit. And and we've had quite a rally in a very short period time hi everybody Berry and truck with you here on a beautiful Wednesday and we look at everything going on with the markets the bay beat the lead story today truck has to be the strength. Of the US dollar. Reaching 87 week. Hi not totally unexpected but it does create problems for certain industries in the United States. Yeah it it certainly does and the US dollar index is you know it's an index that compares itself to a basket of different currencies. And what you're seeing on this is this index has risen from. A recent low back in early may of around 92. Up to ninety sevenths of dollar strength and about 6% over that time period but I also wanna look at this over a longer time period just show yet. Some of the big changes that we've seen in this is a healthier way to look at it too by the witches and so. If you look at where we've been in the last year and a half since the beginning of 2015. We've been in a range generally between about 92 on the low end and a hundred on the high and so we're right in the middle of that range right now we haven't really moved the whole lot. Where you did see a ton of movement was in 2014. Okay. This was a place where you saw a massive move in the strength of the US dollar. And effectively what you saw as the US dollar index and 2014. Went from eighty all the way up into this mid ninety she's about a 15% strengthening of the dollar and 24. Team and many of you like that you looking your price of oil and still that's a good thing there. But imagine I imagine you were in I don't know central Massachusetts. Securian. You're in eastern Connecticut where there's a substantial amount of manufacturing activity. My gosh chuck you're having your lunch eaten by the Germans in the Chinese and and everybody else who's competing with few. You're trying to sell manufacture products around the world. In your back can you compare. Your sales to enjoy the strength that the US dollar to say I don't know mid thirteen. Holy how your your haven't a very difficult time selling your products. When you are compared Chu wa you know two or three years ago you're at about a 15% disadvantage in terms you invest in our ticket compared to where you were previously for businesses that especially operate on the margins. You know that's a thin margin that was a very that beckon me something. That put companies out of business or force them to cut jobs and that's that's part of the reason why you've seen US manufacturing. Struggling is that the dollar has been so strong and the reason it's been strong. Is because quite frankly every other currency out there. Is crap you know people always say oh million of them are by the Euro the manual people always tell the dollars terrible someone's gonna replace the dollar well. No this is a perfect example that isn't it it really is people have been talking I have heard so many people since 20082009. Say. Adult you know our current geez you know it's a world that's part where a mass never you know the Chinese are gonna. Become the new world currency. Look look look at where everyone goes when things get tough all the money has flowed into the US dollar to not say that at some point there won't change. But for the foreseeable future and by that I mean the next ten to twenty years is there any you know movement it. Any relationship to that story. With the fact that cash levels are the highest they've been in nearly fifteen years and went and saw so cash flow we're just talking about. Cash that you know investment managers and people have sitting on the sunlight why is there so darn much cash sitting on the sideline today. Well I think there's a lot of cash sitting on the island because people are still nervous and it's it's weird to say that people are nervous despite the fact the market market's all time highs again now. But you could almost argue that might be the reason that people are getting nervous is because markets are getting to those highs in people look I am very up for when I say what this market. You know this that this part of it that are pretty scary right now because it is. You know not based on what we are seeing. Out of pure fundamentals but just. No there segments of the market we can look at and say boy is a lot of bargains to be had an energy there's a lot of bargains to be had when you look at some of the financial stock valuations like gosh. They they're treating it tremendous discounts. What's so if you think the financial stocks are going to be in a position where. They are is heavily regulated in the future and if you think that the regulation is going to continue to get worse as many people believe it would will. Mullen can make the case that financials are probably pretty fairly valued right now despite being cheap by historical. I'm warming up for my victory. My victory lap of course associated with the price of oil oil trading. Woody 386. Who were getting close I get a get my three dollars and 87 cents a telling meet. I need 39992. Or anything riding on this the dollar. Well but that's my usual wager. But IDG. I was looking at some charts and look at all eight you know I'd look at anything that will reaffirm my prediction. And if we hit it I think we're gonna do it by August 18. Users and treating go out YouTube you open up the I don't know I don't know I don't know and here's what's gonna happen it just to forewarned. You'll never collect that dollar is if we get to the end in November I just say well it's gonna hit the 39 but it might take a lineup I dressed male put out. But 4380 sixes were were trading right now. I don't know maybe we're covering the story later. The related to energy prices. But it's a little surprising to see oil trading here at ten year treasury at 158. So ten year treasuries are actually recovered quite nicely in terms of yield in the last couple weeks. Let's see off this story at a broke my heart. This story and I got an email from them this morning talker you members you know dollar shape of them ideally that's number. All the number I'm a member UR Ohio power plant and I ordered them from them but I have a beard yup I have to shave mine that we do have a jive talker. And you know I've been out I didn't a proud member of the dollar shaped by join them. That it has to be at least a year year and a half ago in like I I joined them talk trade up because they're commercials. Downer the commercials are marketing yes they were funny yes I joined. It's a ton of money I I don't have to go to CBS anymore yet I don't have to take a second mortgage how the razors. Fantastic yurigan fantastic I sort of successful ones well expand. Spender experience Tucker three blades and spend more on his razors promote the need as his gym membership if that's not accurate. Well he probably uses his razor a lot more we could use less wealth. Like my point is about the story and in the resident disappointed. This last night they got bought. Why at this point about that because I like the little. You know I don't either something about Ryan from accompanied its you know started by. A little founder who's got some crazy marketing ideas guy's name is Michael do. And he launched the company that is funny YouTube video that poked fun at raiser believe companies and let's face wheat we all. Resent. Going into the CBS it's ridiculous to have them under lock and key now. Like if you get to when you push the button it makes this funny sound in the and the camera zooms in on you to make sure you don't. You don't know. Yet there are it's like Fort Knox when you order a CBS those dollars or nine dollars down verbally. No I saw a pack which 23 dollars. A ridiculous obscene amounts of any. They're being purchased now just to put this in perspective what do successful guy Michael duke and is he has signed up. 3.2. Million members for their mail order service which I am a member. It's a disposable razors services and other group meters and they they do its job of promoting. There are other services I don't buy any. Never bought it or B Billick lotions and she even asked you I mean they semi for the sample in Ontario for example to bad bought India other things besides razor blades from there would an investment. Well I'll tell you this is a yacht company that started back in 2012 and four years later. We're the billion dollars if he total investment was 1150 that had about a 150 million in venture capital that's gone and so my guess is. When it's all said and done out of that billion dollar valuation. I bet the Dubin probably as somewhere between twenty and 25% of that that don't have that. I was gonna ask you you know the way because people see the billion dollar price tag yet and I was talking to Jack Heath about this. This morning. And he he said well how much of it is the actual owner going to receive it's hard to tell because we don't read their internal documents but generally speaking. To raise that money he had to share a lot of the equity of. Oh yeah you read that he probably with each round that you raise your given away anywhere between ten and 20% a year equity and 20% left so he's waking up today and saying you know what. I actually have a couple hundred million dollars in my pocket. What I like is Procter & Gamble pre tax that is keep their playing dirty pool pursue in the guy and you know saint east older technology and patents and Alice which I don't believe I think you're the only he stole was their business. Aids is three million customers up and and a big part of the market sure looked at the market share they own now yeah it's down market. So Procter & Gamble shame on you for not by the company. Procter gamble trying to use a little bit of rent seeking trying to say oh no this is ours this you know and trying to prevent the new guy from getting in instead of simply going out and building a better product at a lower cost dollar shave club. Good for you Procter & Gamble. Now you better. Yesterday we speculated about the merger. Aetna and Humana. Anthem in Cigna. Well the Justice Department will seek to block to health insurance mergers in the next segment we will be joined by Leisle picker. From the New York Times to talk you about why these mergers may not occur that's up next from our insurer match dot com studio. This is Barry Armstrong and I'm joined today by estate planning attorney. Potluck ski from the law firm of Cushing and dole in which your financial exchange quick tip of the day. Today we're talking about the top misconceptions. About. Medicaid irrevocable trust some folks are app. Apprehensive Todd. About transferring highly appreciated assets like real estate or stock into an irrevocable trust because they hear their beneficiaries. Will get the step up in cost basis upon their death. Is that true yeah and it's not true. And it's not true because many people think when you're transferring to again that word irrevocable. Vacuuming gift. And that's true if you didn't make a gift then you would have this carry over basis and you would have lost the step up. But the way these trusts a draft of the way we do much pushing and Dolan is remake it in incomplete get to the trust. That way you can put up 500000 dollar home that vacation home up on the late in the air without paying to get tax. And because it's incomplete. That's how you get it and number one and number true you retain the right to the income from these trusts. That causes you not only to enjoy the income but cost the and that trust and be included in your state when you guys. In the gross estate not the probate estate rate. Thereby receiving that all important step up in bases and for all you folks that means that it eliminates. All the built in capital gain. On the property that you put in there when your children go to. Get the facts about protecting your assets avoiding probate keeping your money in your bloodline and reducing your state taxes. Only this there with the charts graphs and numbers all day just listen to us it's the financial exchange with Barry Armstrong and chuck sun up on the financial exchange radio network. If Justice Department is preparing lawsuits to block to. Giants health insurance field. This according to a person briefed on the matter. Continuing its fate. Antitrust actions in a world wouldn't hear of whirlwind year for mergers and acquisitions were joined now by New York Times reporter Leisle. Picker to talk about that story which she wrote a lesson very. Are you doing good so. Tell us first of all what are your just reviewed the two mergers. And then maybe you can explain why antitrust officials are trying to block them. Sure that the players were looking at the first is Aetna which agreed to acquire Humana. The 37 billion dollars last July 3. Shortly thereafter about 21 days later we heard about and much agreed to acquire. They can now for 48 point three billion dollars that was after a yearlong pursuit. As much more tenuous deal. Is this something that has caught antitrust officials attention because it's cute and number one is largely heed this. The fact that both of these concurrent mergers happening that would decrease the number of the largest in church just to read from the five. That's a big change in just the environment and the industry since. Also it's been things that on a more political and perhaps even cynical perspective. Do you mergers that have been largely response Q these so called Affordable Care Act or perhaps more well known as the on the care yeah. And so he did jockeying there. And he that it. Perhaps blaming these mergers on the need to adapt in the world of obamacare. It and things that the antitrust officials are also looking. Explain that if you would lastly the relationship between. Obamacare. And these mergers because listeners are are. You know hearing this in the sand with what power they related you know companies emerged generally to gain efficiencies. And competitive edge so what does Obama care have to do with that efficiencies and competitive edge. Sure are well. We have to look at these deals in the context of a broader health care. I industry delete you hospital but had to scramble Q combined. And joined forces in that position group and then considering it of course has responded by emerging. And among each other him and so the idea that there is that they period you know become bigger players. Crackpot. And be able to be seen in a world where its peers and people that it's negotiate a way. And keep it negotiate with our also bulking up and merging and that they feel like they need to combined have more negotiating power. In a world where you know there's much more pressure on the regulatory guide. Given about the latest. Legislation. As a relief and health care. OPEC so. Given that how is it possible that the executives of these four companies in the investment banks involved how did they not anticipate this DOJ. Losses. That's a very very good question. I think political have to do you waste heat mindset as last year. Which way at one point. The biggest year ever or mergers and acquisitions and people were taking this very I geisha and Bolton is to combine. In a world where there was. You know less organic growth they thought that they needed to combine together and ordered Q achieve that growth. Now this these two deals existing. Against that backdrop where we've seen a lot as deals come under fire from antitrust official because of those bold and audacious move it but I think that. These four executives thought that he placed among other industries in public means do you do it well. Another thing to keep in mind is that the Aetna Humana deal. What thank her. What that deal was kinda put extra pressure on and bound and think that. To merge together and so. Date debut likely felt that it was worth the risk. I've to combine a wave that often and expect it to deal with those risks. Comment get at target Q agreed to something like I you know you know in a situation where they would have a year of distractions as it relates to getting approval from. The Justice Department is they they engage in what's known as day ever first. Break the term which and the borer. Aetna and Humana and at one point eight excited billions per can't amend that now. That's a meaningful amount of money in any out there that that's that's gonna be very difficult for the companies that are forced. To pay that break up. Absolutely and in and take this case it is slightly different. Unique situation where they are to report put out by those that Wall Street Journal in May not where they got ahold of them letters that went back board and executives between mr. Connor he's. Hatch a really good since. I have been committed discourse between the executives there and that lack of willingness to complete the deal still. It may be one of those situations and not case where. And and that less inclined to repeat that won the when he billion dollar one point 85 billion dollar break speech to stake out common but we may see other litigation as a result. I'll be darned read unless we did a great job thank you very much for writing about it and thanks for donating your time or cause we appreciate it thank you so. Let's let's just summarize that so people can. Understand the Ed. For insurance companies. That wanted to merge they'll wanted to get married. Very clear. To all of us that they are doing it to gain efficiencies I mean that's why you merged companies you do it in an effort to. Drive down cost improve efficiencies gained market share. Gain pricing power yeah right that that's the the logic behind it merger. Justice Department comes insane and how did the bankers and how did he executives. Say that they weren't aware they like I. It it's now up to the Wall Street they shouldn't be able to in good faith Wall Street you know break this Wall Street never price the stocks according to the merger UN. I've looked at this and said this looks like it's too much of an infant we were on the outside looking in but. It's just you know I think that there had been and part of it is you had seen in some industries over the last several years that. You had seemed kind of a blind eye turned towards. I don't wanna say monopoly stick practices but towards. In a situations like this where you have 234. Companies that really. Are the entire marketplace. And you may be bankers got a little bit complacent but. You know that that's probably part of it put part of it was also probably that they said you know what we'll take a chance on this and if it works out great if it doesn't. We've still got some fees and move on to the next whose break up these are enormous huge you're talking about close to three billion dollars. That was changed hands went thing that I wonder about is if they if these insurance companies in fact might have bought and insurance to cover. Which did it who thought. All right thanks for union where when we come back we're talking about Microsoft. From our insurer match dot constant. Making your Smartphone even smarter. Here it goes what is the name of the second human to walk on the surface of the moon 68680. Is or text number. What is the name of the second human being to walk on the surface of the news moon. My cousin of course Neil Armstrong was the first one I remember like yesterday. I was ten years old the talk to a mall it was a space. Yeah yeah do I text and if. 68680. Is our our text number first winner's first person with the correct answer wins a fifty dollar. Gift certificate to Arnold's. Hey let's talk about Microsoft. I mean I I. I was. Down on this company I didn't like Steve ball. Yeah I never liked him is. As a CEO he put on some great press conference though he did but he was kind of yeah he did he doesn't get it high grade America's greatest CEO bill based on the the stock price. Yeah he didn't do a great job as CEO of Microsoft I think they probably lacked a little bit in terms of product development while he knows there. Towards the end of his ten year they started to undergo some changes. And maybe that was him loosening its grip on the company I don't necessarily know and but this is a company that in the last three and a half to four years has pretty much done ever. Right such an adult well I'm okay I'll I'll what you make the credible argument for such as he's in new CEO he's been in there a couple years for it. Indian guy bright is as all get out. You like some of his moves I've got one move that is very much in question. What are you know like about it Lincoln. I think Clinton is a major question mark I still don't understand how they're going to integrate it but you look at everything else than what they are paid for what you look at. Even without what they paid Ford and questions about Linkedin but you keep everything else that this company has done. And they have pretty much transition via a significant amount of their business and cloud into recurring revenue sources as they move people off of the you know by office for 300 dollars that's all that you get. Now it's signing up for office 365 you're forced to pay monthly or annual fees there. You know they've they've done a tremendous job there they've continued to expand the entertainment division for Xbox and Xbox one and so on work they've done a nice job there. You know Windows Phone has never really been a platform that's been able. To gain any tape of major penetration that is still an area. That they do need to improve in them but they've also. You get into this cloud business which I've never understood. And that's where they're that's why the stock is up 6% today. Yeah I had it really is all about the cloud business that gets into that office 365 and so force. You know that is. You know one of the big things they've been able to do it successfully transition a lot of their enterprise customers to cloud based applications that are buying the box installing it on every computer. The downside to that move. It is a lower margin business but if you're generating more revenue you can make it up and volley. You know so that's really Amazon owns that space race is that Amazon's territory when of this they are not doing this is like Amazon Web Services where they are doing hosting and so forth this is. Office on the clock office hosted. Somewhere else of that you're effectively you login and that's how you are gaining. Access office and so forced. All right while a Microsoft shares of six point 3% at 5643. Here's a quick announcement on behalf of Cushing and Dolan. Many people. Maybe you are one of these people are afraid of giving up control to their trusty. When they use irrevocable trusts and I'm asked is this a valid concern in the answer is no it is not. Because let's assume you point your son to serve as trustee and you say oh my gosh I'd give an animal control of my assets. That's not entirely true if you give you make your son the trustee. Of your your vocal trust. In your son misbehave. Or refuses to do is you request you can fire your son as the trustee and replace them with any. Friendly trustees that will do so. So it's not about concerned give you not giving up control of your assets when you put them into vulnerable public trust a wanna dispel that and Cushing and Dolan is giving away a guide today. It's called top misconceptions. Related to Medicaid you're vocal trust we just talked about one misconception. He's like a copy of this guy here's the phone number you call it 866. 8485699. That's stole 3866. 8485699. Wanna learn about the top misconceptions related to irrevocable trusts call Cushing and dole and they're making their free guide available today. 8668485699. Chuck it was a vote on up quite a year ago let's say what. Nine or ten months ago that we started talked about Volkswagen. Lee was last September may be early October somewhere in that mark how much has that company declined in value. Since we started covering the story. So if you look at it when the story originally broke died it was a mid September last year. The stock the US on the US markets was trading at about 38 dollars a share at one point. It bottomed out around 22 dollars a share so lost nearly 50% of its value at the bottom. Today it's in the 28 point nine range it was still off about 25 to 30%. From where it was trading prior in this that they get into the fact that that stock had been up as high as fifty dollars a share. Earlier in 2015 before all this started so you're still at this point down about 45%. Right now and at one point you were down post sixty. And they're not dying. No they. We still do not have any knowledge as far as the full range of fines and so forth is going to be a process that much like we saw with BP. In the gulf. It's gonna be a process that probably takes three to five years unfold completely as far as long how much data we're sitting here a year out and we still. Dealers still don't know what they're being calculate where we don't even have that information so. When you start deal with all the different countries all the different agencies and an even in the US on the state level what we're talking about. It's it's gonna be another two to three years. You're right BP's been going on here you're it's a good five years and the BP was 2010 I believe. Mines and but they're pretty much done I think. They are finally just about wrapped up they still a couple of small pieces to go. But yet BP was 2010 so it's taken BP about six years to get as deep water horizon. I don't think it'll take Volkswagen quite as long just because. It's not really. There's not really dispute over whose fault it is you know it you're you know trying to figure out is it you know bear fault if someone else's. You know whose fault it is just okay how much you can cost. The Republican Convention has been a huge success. And how to I know that while it has drawn over 22 million viewers that alone on the first night of of the convention track. Which is kind of the weakest night of the unit terms speakers and and what's going on yeah they drew 22 million viewers CNN. An MSNBC. Ironically are the two big benefactors. Yes CNN has doubled its audience from about one point four million viewers to over three point nine million viewers MSNBC's viewership was up 35%. So this really tells because Fox News and pretty much right on the line is that same as before. All this really tells me. Is that you've got Democrats that are watching. Which is about more than had been in expect. Correct us significantly. You have a huge bump up Republicans continue to watch pretty much the same numbers that they watch for you know in prior years but he got a lot more interest from across the aisle. Well the difference though now is CNN. Is not as liberal as it used to CNN has gone very conservative. Yeah I think I thinks about running CNN bodily as a good friend Donald Trump's. You they the quality of the reporting on CNN continues to kind of bounce along a very low bar at this point I mean CNN is pretty much. Widely ridiculed for some of the things they put on at this point now as far as you know that when the Malaysian plane was missing their big guys saying that it was in a black hole. You remember that that at that might be. It could be it's I mean it's not impossible so he wasn't wrong necessarily. But you know certainly you are seeing a much more interest this year than in prior. Yours we have speculated that Roger Ailes would be leaving. Fox and it's pretty much a certainty. Now we are getting more information that Roger Ailes who's aged 76 by the way. He's been the idea what went he start there was a big thing as sick as you say midnight put it on the -- he put on the air the guy's genius yet he's been there twenty years at this point but it does appear that he is likely on the way out foxes commented that there review is ongoing at this point they're not giving any additional details what I'm hearing is coupled insider tips and yet they're negotiating the deal. But they're too big shows Hannity. And O Reilly yeah those guys have contracts. That say it heals leads weaken. Most they can avoid their contracts they chose told that this morning by an industry insider interest and could you do see. Bill Riley ending up on CNN. He doubles and be interesting to see a play that much I mean he's he becomes a free agent if this deal goes through. And that baby what's holding it up. They need be saying OK we have to tie up O Reilly I think he's the number one guy. At fox say they do that spotted believes they gave the and they they lost Hannity wouldn't be the end of the world that he lost the Riley I think that's a huge blow them. At that probably agree with that as my opinion. In Megyn Kelly is up she's up next year. Yeah and as you'd want the people that. That said she was sexually harassed by news yeah I think with that I think there's probably more questions about if she ends up staying wants her deals. Lot of money on the line anyway. Roger Ailes evidently on his way out. Acts. It at fox. Up next we'll be joined by Jeff Stafford from Morningstar we have any stock to talk about you know grab a pencil paper also give you the answer. Information. Time for a little bit of stock talk and we have Jeff Stafford from Morningstar with us today. Jeff thanks for joining us. Boehringer crap and Jeff were dug about stock here with the ticker Ciampi is Compass Minerals International. What exactly does this company do for people who wore no. Shirt so as you said Compass Minerals is that in the coming that many investors may not be familiar with we think it's a wide no company which means it has a long term. Sustainable competitive advantage. The company produces road DI think stalled and fertilizers primarily at facilities Ontario Louisiana and you talk. Compass has been on business follows pretty simple it takes resources out of the ground but importantly it does spill at a very low cost. And that compass has built built this formidable cost advantage based on two characteristics of the largest salt mine location in geology. Now the state companies that over the last five to six years seems to have stagnated a little bit in terms of its price what do you see. Not from this company that makes it attractive to you today what's changed. So we think this stock prices and held back over the last couple years by a light winter weather what I mean by that is. The company's main regions in the midwest haven't gotten as much no if they normally do. And that's put pressure on the company's salt volumes. Bursting return to normal winter weather over the long term we think this stock in trade higher as the company sells Morse fault in the future. Who the are competitors in the space is there any companies of similar size that are doing Mr. President. Parts of you know larger companies that might just have divisions in this area church. So probably the most well known competitor is Qaeda NASA German company that has since stalled out that they can beat on the East Coast. They're really because these markets are so regional. Compass does it faced a lot of competition for big competitors in this primary midwest market the K process is probably the the best example of a competitor. On on a larger scale. How does that how to be the contract work for a company like this are they multi year deals are they typically. One year deals one month what's what's the typical setup for contract from them. Sure not to interesting part about this business the contracts are typically one year. And the main customers are governments and municipalities so they fine. These all contracts in the summer months before this those facts are actually come. And they're signed at a price point with the volume range but the volume ultimately depend on how much its nose in that region but the price is predetermined. Going into this season and that's led to. Less volatility in oil prices beneath the and other commodities. All right very good we'll Jeff I appreciate you joining us and thanks for all the and voted. Of course our firm and Jeff Stafford from Morningstar and the company here was Compass Minerals International the ticker on ECD and peace. Now I'm looking at this company turn this is small company. Only two and a half billion dollar company two and a half billion dollar company so it's not you know talked about you know 2030 billion dollar behemoth. As far as the overall revenue and what they do you want an annual basis into about a billion dollars a year in revenue so are not talking about a tiny company necessarily. But you certainly are not looking at a company. That is. You know 88 titan of industry. Doesn't move a lot the stock they and look at it debate it's 51. And here's something that we should probably spend a moment on. Earnings per share diluted earnings per share four dollars and 36 cents per share. And they're paying out two dollars and 78 cents of the fourth 3436. Of the bringing in yet in the form of dividends so. I look at that and say well that's pretty darn good in terms of the coverage ratio it's. Stable in terms of the odd dividend payout ratio what you look for on companies. You don't want companies that are paying too much of their earnings in the form of dividends if they if they do that. Well it potentially means them after reduce their dividend of their earnings are reduced. And it also may mean that they're not able to reinvest back into the business and grow so that's right big reinvestment as the biggest issues and exactly so I think the the level that they are at somewhere in that 6065%. Range. Pretty acceptable when you look you compare bull dividend paying stocks. When he starts he stocks that are open eighty to 90% range and it'll vary based on the industry but. Yeah I'd I'd advice you take a closer look at those and if they really makes. Here's another thing to be aware as it relates to that particular stock we're talking about compass materials. Minute excuse me Compass Minerals International the symbol forty Ciampi if he'd take a quick look at the stock you'll see it's. Paying two dollars and 78 cents a share in terms of a yield that equates to three point 8% sees save yourself well that's that's pretty darn good you write a making three point 8% on my money. And I'll remind you that that. Yield is on a tax preferred basis meaning that. If moved from the vast majority view you're gonna have to pay a 15%. Federal income tax rate on that. Whereas if you get interest on a bond or if you get interest on a CD you're paying ordinary income tax rates which could be as high as 43%. So. One thing to remember when your buying stocks always inquire about what is the dividend on it. Check the coverage ratio woody and covered greatly is that I wish they didn't use words that complicated that. Coverage ratio just means that are they earning enough is that company profitable enough. To consistently pay Al that dividend doesn't do you any good to buy stock in the six months later chuck you learn that all we can't afford to pay at that dividend. That stock will decline very rapidly company to cut the dividend. Yes so it's again when you look at a company like compass. You know again that dividend is pretty attractive and it does appear to be in a pretty decent range as far as how much they are paying out. And bring it up because there's a survey that's done. And it's it's done 11 time a year just under half of US workers said they felt satisfied. With their jobs last year. Did happier state being in a decade this according. To a new report from the conference board it's a research group that focuses on economic and business conditions. Yeah 49 point six. This is pretty much since the early eighties you have seen a steady decline. In job satisfaction numbers in the US they were above 60%. In the late eighties through the early ninety's and but really starting about 2000 we've struggled more than 50% of people who say yeah I'm pretty happy with my job. Just over half or fifty point 6% people surveyed said they are satisfied with their job security and 58 point 8%. Reported a high level of interest in their work. Second only to the 58 point nine who said they were happy with their coworkers so imagine go to a job where your coworkers think. Satisfaction. Was highest in the state of Texas 56 point 1% it was generally higher in the western half of the country. The board does not break out results by job tight. Job type but they found unsurprisingly. That satisfaction generally rises with income. 61 point 2% of people who were earning a 125000. Dollars or more. Report feeling satisfied at work that's the highest proportion. Despite. Steady improvement over the last few years. It is unlikely that the US workforce will repeat the high eighties achieve get this. In 1987. And 199560%. Of workers said they were satisfied with their jobs struck no loyalty anymore. 49 now 49%. Of workers are satisfied with their jobs you back to 1987. He was 60%. Yet what's changed. No loyalty. No loyalty on the part of the company's her on the part of the company's you you look at what's happened since then and it has been a steady erosion of things that used to be a staple of American companies when you talk about pension plans when he talked about the rise of Leveraged Buyouts and all the cuts that come after that. Whether you're talking about the into the job cuts that we seem to see so often at this point and bumping up stock prices for exacts. You've seen all of those things become the norm in the last thirty years and I think that people. Rightly so don't feel that their companies are very loyal to them. And as a result. The you. They treated job I think is something. That if they don't really view was a permanent thing anymore they see it is something where they could be cut at any time which is the truth. It is the truth you know whatever the what do what the downsides. Of the big corporation. Is. You know see they can walk in one day. And and I had this happen Nash who's the week before Christmas. And the company that I worked for had been acquired and on the week before Christmas they came in at five. Nice guys don't imagine that I mean I just couldn't do that it was a big company news debate I won't name the company. But. You know that that's. That's it. That you're right about company loyalty right be easy on you could be a hard worker for an extended period time. And they'll put a bullet union dues to satisfy stockholder in and that's just the world we live out there's a lot of text messages coming yet. On this and the we we should dress coupled to a three tribe being an auditor of banks eat your soul from the inside out. At that that would be a tough job does not being an auditor in general DS know what that role than an auditor is auditing. You basically go in and you you'd use stir you you find bad things right. Deputy pretty much everywhere you go no one wants to talk to write you eat my dad worked in internal auditing. And you know what happens who's the president of the company you're the CEO we'll see eightieth. Look I need you to go to Hartford. Because we've got a problem up in our division in Hartford. Only among men. And that's the one that matters he women. Wish we could be on their last dime. And melts drop. Yeah in the still buy a ton of money on it and under underwear for a woman is much more open and I have pairs that like six hole all right it we don't attitude usually we do not need the details lot of levels placement and a lot of holes. That's pretty darn good in her estimation she does this type of reporting at the Wall Street Journal. And before we get to that question though I have and another quick question for how you do enjoy and a very good so how much is a slice of pizza in New York now. Well it depends you know a really great right now 33 dollars and even have that you can get a ad dollars like that's that's really good for the money I have to that. Very good at art let's talk about this fifty dollar Smartphone. I got here about 89 ally now on agreed to an up and let it that you are. Yeah you know it's terrible is. New York pizza. Is just so much better than I was not technically it's not even close to that bagels and our. Letter I got a bagel place Joanna I don't know you. I will send some bagels down your way though. Break break if it's extra for the state is no good bagels and there's no good pizza in New England. And I should say not good challenge except I have knuckle on his that is I have a bagel guy. But Amazon coming out with a fifty don't eat you know you can ask each year the year became its pride on this. Credit camera you're not helping Joanna your order throughout the parents are I got here my two co host Eddie Dee Dee. In an indicate it's it's it's awful. Got a guest here and I'm here to talk about my comment and this topic I'm not here to talk about people their bagels oh to get to bed that. Fifty dollar Smartphone we're led violent how does that work. A bit of interesting at the fifty dollar Smartphone it's sold through Amazon Amazon doesn't make the phone company called WB's Al you know. Make its own unique low cost mark on the pro actually cost 100 dollars. But keeping their happen. Amazon is putting ads on a lock screen here very similar to an Amazon Kindle tablet or. And so they're knocking down on the phone by fifty dollars. That's the first. Pink and blue make it means low cost content selling them for pretty much you know act Costin away. 21 analyst he's that we think it's bone basically cut about eighty dollars to make and you know sort of whatever it was you know. Meet in terms that design and other types of resources you're getting are really good value here for fifty dollars. You start to pay the you know Verizon or AT&T for your subscription fee but. So it's saving you what maybe forty bucks a month. No actually. But they got it unlocked and installed. On its own right that as we move away from contracts what happens now that we Dyer found out right so have fun like the iPhone and the iPod expects. Actually started 650 dollars right now mark that city's that you go you buy back on either for 250 dollars. Or you dated carrier. Look out pay a monthly payment plan and I paid for that phone thirty dollars every month or twenty dollars every month for the next two years and at all Matt solid. In this case he died at sixty dollar phone. It does not work on bright and our brand it does work on T-Mobile and AT&T. By the sound you don't get a sim card and debt and they're estimates and heater or T-Mobile or I actually think it's related travel divisive here. You're traveling you need to really keep it right to make phone calls or text messages overseas because pop in a local sim card and that's how this thing work.
