This is the financial exchange with the very Armstrong and chunks of you're exclusive look at business and financial news affecting your day you're still be your world. Stay informed and up today about economic and market trends plus get breaking business news and every day. And now the financial exchange with the Barry Armstrong and chuck soda. It is Thursday here on the financial exchange that means only one thing we are talking about jobs he gets the weekly jobless claims out every Thursday. But beyond that we also have ADP jobs report today as well as the government jobs report tomorrow so a full day of a couple days on hand. Even during a holiday week here chuck not a along with Mike Armstrong. Well no no Baird but at least we have one Armstrong available here today as we always try to do. And before we get into some of the jobs there is another merger that is going to be taking place or rather acquisition taking place here. Danone the French company. Known for known for in the US mostly that Dan in brand. Yogurt and so forth buying company called what we've. Foods liked he had air there and you know kind of specialty foods tech place they've got a lot of those organic brand so if you ever see that silk soy and Welker on the Allman milk in the I'll lower. I was land of lakes they have some of those brands as well so pick us in those more specialty areas that in doesn't have a whole lot of exposure to right now. Then pay a pretty significant premium in doing so was well paying out about 56 dollars a share. The stock this morning spiking to its highest level in over a year now. I believe there's only one other time in the company's history that it had been above the fifty dollars share level. But the stock spiking over 56 dollars a share as the company said they'd be paying 56 point five a share in cash. To holders of white wave foods so if you are a wait wait who shareholder. Made about 18% it it's not bad for a Thursday on a pretty ugly week. Of trading but let's begin to some of these jobs numbers now. Mike starting first with the weekly jobless claims totaling 254000. Vs an estimate of 270000. And I think more importantly. The four week moving average as well continuing to decline that's a number that takes a little bit longer because we are averaging the last four reports here. But that number declined 26400750. A decline of 2500 from previously. And you know shown that. Even if you're not seeing a ton of growth in it in hiring right now as we haven't for the last couple months you still don't see a ton of people losing jobs which is a good sign. True yet you know that that continues to get a little bit stronger there continues to be a lack of wage growth but you do see the jobless claims going down now again if you think of last few months she saw a few people again absent workforce which. Again impact jobless claims that this numbers. Decent pretty good rating gonna going in the right direction of. But I think it's beyond these even if you look at this number and specifically you look at the trend that we have at this point. We are now below 300000. Jobless claims for seventy straight weeks that's the longest stretch that we have seen since 1970. At air since 1973. Rather. And so I think one other thing that I wanna point out there is that when you look at the US population in 1973. It was only 211 million we've gotten additional 120. Million people out in the country now you still have this track record. This really that record going at this point in terms of weekly jobless claims so continuing to see some good news there and we also got in. But this isn't the most important jobs report out that's gonna be what we get tomorrow here but the ADP private payrolls report rose a little bit more than forecast is well. Yet did. Hear you so a lot of service jobs being really add in that reports as you know we can expect you lost in manufacturing jobs I think largely in part due to the rising value of the dollar. Be picked up a lot of service jobs again you know we'll get more information on that tomorrow but still still interest. How important do you think tomorrow's report is at this point I'm of the opinion. That's this is arguably the most important jobs report in the last two years now I think that the trend the last four months has been negative. You have I think some significant concerns overseas regarding the Breck Sydney impact that's going to have there obviously we know this is looking backwards somewhat but this a big. Report when it is enemy in the whole world kind of looking at us right because everyone else is floundering quite a bit China's in some trouble Europe's and more from Great Britain specifically in a lot of trouble. Nancy had a whole world kind of looking at this to see if the US economy is truly holding up for an hour for faltering like the rest the world then. Not to mention you know it's a job report heading into an election season which is always pretty big. It is and choose what to put in perspective just how dismal the previous nonfarm payrolls report was only 38000. Jobs created. According to the government report from last month only 25000. Of those in the private sector. So really some significant issues there and beyond that you start thinking and some of the other peripheral. Things that we like to look at things such as the labor force participation rate which declined. You talk about average work week which was pretty stagnant. Hourly earnings the young people simply not earning as much as they would like to. These are all key issues that need to at some point show some positive moment because. You've had this economic recovery going on for seven years now and you still have people that are sitting there saying. I don't feel like there has been any recovery in a big portion that's because look you still another wave group that you want in you still don't have. The overall participation rate I think that you want you to. Or I mean look at the types of jobs have been created board mega December losing manufacturing regaining servicers Europe's talking a bit about it pretty big wage discrepancy there. Yeah and so it's it's been I think kind of won that the major themes recently. You know again it's it's look you're losing jobs that are paying 253035. Dollars an hour and you pick up jobs that are paying eight to twelve season okay. Net net I didn't lose any jobs there but you aren't getting paid nearly as much on this and not creating. Anywhere near as much there's a big difference. In terms of what someone contributes to an economy in terms of if they are going out and physically building something you're starting a business whereas if they are simply. Pushing a button that you know at a fast food restaurant it's just not the same level of contribution as far as the overall economy yep and the fact is while those people that are. In those positions now. And we'll talk about this a little bit later automation continues to comfort them. You know you continuing to see those jobs not outsourced because he can't outsource a fast food job but you certainly can't replace it with a kiosk and. I saw a a automated burger. Burger cooker for where the faster addressed I don't know Boris autumn wind aside obviously machine that's going to do a better job cooking burgers and individual. I've never seen any trouble I mean I guess the one of the things that I always find with fast food have never found problems with food being. Under over cooked I guess that's one of the few things that I could say about fast food because the patties are so thin that generally you can't under or over but it it. But it's. You just wonder like at some point it's going to become cheaper Ted to have machinery in there and you know we we do with cars at this point how can you had to do with something like a burger at a fast food joint and it depends on minimum wage but today raised their point in year in Nasser Al right now I've been a lot of those companies are looking at them that's probably looking at a critique seriously here so we're gonna take a quick break here when we come back. Really talk about the sixteenth busiest airports in the world what are they that's coming up next on the financial exchange from our insurer match dot com studio. Hoops every time the candidates speak it could affect your bottom line if Piero election to only sixteen is already affecting you right here on the financial exchange this is the financial exchange radio network. Will get the step up in cost basis upon their death. Is that true yeah and it's not true. And it's not true because many people think when you're transferring to again that word irrevocable. Humane gift. And that's true if you can't make a gift that you would have this carry over basis and you would have lost the step up. But the way these trusts a draft of the way we Duma Cushing and Dolan is we make it an incomplete gift to the trust. Gonna continue to talk about it a little bit right now is well McDonald's expanding all day breakfast to keep their there's sales boost going in this. Mean this into a bit. Crazy to me how much impact their stock price but it clearly did and they're really just jump ball over the rights of their increasing a few of their breakfast sandwich in the they're going to be keeping on the all day menu I'd don't you mcdonalds enough to deal to know what. We don't. There does. It definitely does Eric Berry looks nothing more than mcdonalds if he would hear from them on now. He's obsessed with McDonald's it's like how many times as regular week it's not healthy it'll whatever is soccer it's not it's not healthy in multiple ways but McDonald's is going to be expanding. That all day breakfast are going to be at a endemic riddles and additional breakfast sandwich is that your big regret a thing I've had a lights and my arteries as Claude immediately Sam Young what is the exact. It's oats and just it eggs sausage cheese and the rating is soaked in maple syrup. Most of the whole thing is just soaked in Naples or begin with yes pretty much and it's delightful bite. Old man and you feel like crap. For certificates but if it's what's not good for the heart I don't have to try one of those that now that the doing all day I can actually do it like 8 PM in the go to bed right after an a because it is strategy and how perfect it was just knock you right out so from McDonald's again expanding all day breakfast there Tucker and and Mike when I ask you a quick question here. Do you think it if you were living I know both have you lived in and around Boston various points. Would you use a Boston Harbor ferry service on a regular basis at all. If I was living. So I know is Boston is certain to expand quite a bit there is not a good way to get from East Boston to downtowns of there were red you know reasonable -- quick and inexpensive fairy. Then yeah I think to be pretty attractive because there really is not a great way to get from me Steve to the rest of Boston right now our core value out agree yeah I mean I have nothing wrong that I take to hang on ferry to us seaport. Com and that's 45 minute ride to Boston from hang on and it's a great ride up and seventeen dollars round trip so why not another one and also just in got close to Boston you do up when the goes from I believe it's Charlestown into the downtown area as well. Is there couple small ones but they're two different groups considering. Using are setting one up from East Boston to vote the seaport as well as some other parts. Of the city at this point still in the early stages of figuring out whether or not it will be able to be profitable in any way shape or form. But just another way that you may be able to connect that area without digging an expensive tunnel and expanding mass transit and so forth which. Obviously we know with mass transit projects in the northeast and specifically Massachusetts. They don't typically come in anywhere near budget or on time yeah so it's an experience that you you would figure with day a new ferry don't have quite that issues there. And I getting around that area these days the seaport area is really difficult so it is if you haven't been there a few years driving around is tough there's no parking anymore. It's it's tough to get to there's no real public transit there so if you did have a fairy connecting you know a little bit different parts talent that area might be a good idea. It is it is very difficult to get around some of those parts that have expanded quickly here. Let's talk now about the sixteen busiest airports in the world. You know talking about these different airports here and I think what what stands out to me the most is just the continued growth internationally but what start at the top of the list actually with the one of our favorite actually probably no one's favorite domestic airport probably one of everyone's worst nightmares Mets Atlanta. Hartsfield Jackson which just about every flight seems to go through. But I know is just you know sometimes it train wreck just to get in and out of just because of how big it is actually over a 101 million. Passengers stand well it's its services 80% of the US population within two hours I mean that that's that's really speaks to the key as to why it is so popular if you can hit. 80% of our country within two hours and it's a perfect it's per for tub it really is an odd coming in second on the list Beijing capital international airport to. Well percent lower or 89 million passengers last year. You continue down the list Dubai coming in at third fourth Chicago O'Hare so another big US hub there. And as we continue to go work further down the list Tokyo international airport Heathrow Los Angeles international airport Hong Kong. Paris Charles de Gaulle. Dallas Fort Worth well clocking in at number ten and is stumble. Number eleven Frankfurt number twelve Shanghai number thirteen. Number fourteen Amsterdam fifteen JFK in New York. And Singapore airport coming in number sixteen but what I found amazing about this the sixteenth busiest airport only half is busy is Atlanta. Yeah mammy it's an incident and other elements. I was I guess I was a little bit surprised that Dallas I don't think I'm ever flown through Dallas and I know it's a big airport but I am I guess you're connecting a lot of Latin America at the last. You you see that I think you also tend to see. It acting as a hub for a lot of the midwest similar Chicago in particular if you're kind of in the southern part. The country see a lot of connections through Dallas I've gone through there in order to get some place on the Gulf Coast before. Just it's it's been a way that I've been able to get down that way so. I think in general you know you continuing to see the most rapid growth internationally in particular. A lot of these Asian airports continuing to rise of the ranks pretty quickly whereas the US based airports are a little bit more stable at this point. As far as the overall numbers of passengers. And so forth. Let's talk a little bit about a another travel project that is potentially. Under way in the near future in this is a a line of trains. Coming from Hartford and Connecticut. Yes so while I'm. They're finally start to put a little bit transportation and that area I mean you talk about the few toughest season I've seen a few tough times it's in the trying to connect Springfield Hartford and New Haven which going to connect up to the I think that's the metro north rail to get into New York study. Via which I think could be really good toward you know all of those cities Springfield. You know could use a little bit transportation especially if they're gonna have that new casino up there that would be really good to connect those cities together. Because there really has not been easy quarter of travel between those. No there hasn't been in a particular we've talked an awful lot on this show over the last several months and really in the last year about some of the companies that have been leaving Hartford recently down. And some of the struggles they've been having there so this might be away. That you can start to get a little bit of a boost in that region and in particular. Springfield as well as you mention that casino that's going in movie do end up connecting this at some point to the metro north there which does service all the way down to New York City. But you you effectively provide a pretty decent alternative to Atlantic City I think for a lot of people via The Who may be interest in heading in a different direction. Been down there since Atlantic city's been struggling quite a bit in recent yes that's at an afternoon train lines canola. At a whole lot of new jobs are threatened to benefit approach that from the multi pronged approach and in the one thing I always wonder about with trains is the cost for it is. I don't have you did you at least take took the trainer do you still take the train at all from mob Boston down in New York ever. Yeah I have and I've done it here in there and effort must decide that and if I'm going alone it makes some sense yeah. But if I've got at least two people understood drive and park and other pay for the parking and vehement on schedule and probably still save money and Paris and the train. I am amazed at how expensive that train that is I remember it used to be even just you know 78 years ago was you know maybe 8090 bucks each way yeah I was looking for I was just curious the other day and was poking around like 180 dollars each way not given for that the Acela train which you know stole it goes like what eighty or ninety miles an hour now but you're talking the big strain that takes four and a half hours it's like a 190 dollars each way. A testament to how about flying in these days. Yet that's that's pretty true at this point so it's a new line going in there we'll see if there able to what generate any business and whether or not you're going to see any travelers going there. Let's do a little bit of trivia here. Today. We are going to be doing some Hoover Dam trivia our trivia contest. Is brought to you by Arnold's lobster and clam bar it's located on US route six. On US route sixty Easton Massachusetts once again 68680. How much did it cost to construct the Hoover Dam. Some news out of up PepsiCo today they reported earnings before the opening bell. Just inching past their estimates today yeah I they they beat estimates pretty good earnings. I was all surprise -- we think about the Coke cause Pepsi's and the new sugar taxes that are going into place and one of anticipated this but you dive into little bit deeper and it's it's really their food brand they're doing quite well yeah a lot of the food brands as well some of the new still beverages that they have bosh started and they're really tried to grow in the last couple years that's where a lot of the growth was four Pepsi on this report here. You break it out and it the core business. Really still grown pretty slow the north American business only rising 1% year. But you start to dig into some of those different pieces as you mentioned the Frito-Lay business which includes the Reno was lays. As well as the simply line of snacks which they very rapidly growing line at this point. That rose 3% so a lot more growth happening there. Then in some of the core businesses that I think people of typically thought of when they think of PepsiCo at this point. We are gonna take a quick break right now when we come back we're talking about real estate and a couple of the different questions that people have. With regards to real estate both if you buying real estate domestically. As well as some concerns that are happening in the international real estate market right now that is coming up right after this break. From the financial exchange insure a match dot com studios. Dot com for more information and once again taking home a fifty dollar gift certificate there. Very good very good indeed let's talk a little bit up out. Housing here Mike we've seen. An awful lot of people that were hurt during the financial crisis largely due to either for closure short sales whatever may be rushing and 7000007. Million in and you're starting to finally you those people. Getting ready to get back into the housing market at least some. There are at least qualifying field again back into you know whether or not they're going to jump in wholeheartedly is still. Of debates that as of the end of 2014. Of the seven million about one point two million their credit scores are good enough to qualify for Fannie Mae loans of approximately. And the estimate is that by and of 2019. Bad numbers in nearly double. Its credit score the main issue that a lot of these folks are facing that's a big piece of it you know a few at foreclosures. That that really really impacted your credit score and it takes a long time to drop off the the rating and that what that also assumes that you didn't have any other issues related to that so you know if you think about a case you foreclose in your home. But did that also mean that you probably delinquents and credit card payments or car payments he had a lot of different things added up on that credit score so it's not just the home foreclosure that impact people. Do you think there are any people here how big do you think is the group of people. From that segment that. Doesn't necessarily want to get back into owning a home because of how scarred they were by the experience I do it's do you think there are a lot of those people out there. You know obviously very hard to say I I would assume cell you know if you think about it right now if if you're getting back there sure. If your credit is just again good enough to get back into the housing market you're one of those people that bought in 06 or seven and you're looking at the housing market right now I mean depends on the area but I'd be thinking you know. Pretty long and hard about it seems pretty similar to what we're feeling bad in 0607 in terms of recent rises in house prices. Here's another question kind of tied to that a lot of the people that lost their homes at that point they had children that might have been 151820. Years old. Do you think a lot of those. People now growing up and into their twenties and early thirties are gun shy because of what they saw happen with their parents and their friends' parents. And that could. Be one of the explanations I mean definitely see the younger generation renting a lot more than owning their own homes. That could be part of the explanation apart other estimation people just wanna be more mobile be able to move from city to city and not be tied down to specific location. It's inching trend that we're seeing much more moves to the big cities. And less people move and at the suburbs. Could that change in a few years with their birth rates going up possibly. Well there is a certain I think you know. There's a certain case to be made that not everyone necessarily needs to own a home in it for certain people who want to be more transitory. Owning a home can actually be a hindrance to them if they wanted to move during a downturn in housing cycle. Yet a lot of people that were underwater and had to go through short sale or something similar. Susan very real issues. There as well and maybe not everyone you shouldn't have homeownership quite as high. As it actually was a wanna talk a little bit about insurer match now. Your financial strategy has to include a thoughtful insurance plan insurance exists to protect your assets and our friends at the insurer match agency. They can prepare a personalized plan they gets you the best coverage. At the best price. Culture match 844. 99 match that's 84499. Match traffic. It's awful they're more people on the road than ever before that means more risk for axes just coming home from the holiday weekend. Aside it was three or four different axes just a twenty mile stretch of road there. Match or go online at insurer match dot com Mike continuing to talk about housing here. US of you now on your second piece of property correct you moved out of the original starter home and now you're into. The second one at this point. Talking about some of these things for people to. Avoid when buying or selling a house I wanna see just kind of what your process was for dealing with some of these this is a list. That was put together. You know really looking at some of the biggest issues that people face when buying or selling a home the first one. Is ignoring the big picture that you know people get so focused on narrow features that they can miss. You know that this Elvis plays you know it's got a great hot tub not realizing that it's in a city when they wanna live in the suburbs right yes. Oh what this you know one of the main points to make here is that you know focus on. It is folks on the big picture of what the big one of the biggest things they say is okay if you're buying a home for instance for your family and you're trying to you know make it the best thing for her family will the main concern inch pie be your commute. So if you're near. The fixating on one feature like a big living room more day. You know I nice backyard. But ignoring the fact that it's a two hour commute you be spending more time with family that it doesn't really make sense for you so a lot of times people so. That's that's one of the big folks this article was just making sure that you don't you know focus on something small that's not going to really impact your life. But you know I think overlooking big expenses a lot of times people simply look at the the sticker price the price they're willing to put down for the moment they say okay can buy this house for 200000 dollars not realizing it might cost them 5000 dollars to move another few thousand to get you know new stuff to feel. All the rooms they actually want in the house that you talk about added insurance policy talk back Adam taxes now and I think a lot of times people simply look. At that top line number instead of going through all of the different things that you have to do after that. And a lot of times yeah people say well look I you know what I had you know money for the down payment in my bank and now I don't have anything for any of those. After yeah now a lot of people bulls just look at that saved you know trying to reach that big number of Obama considering some of the future costs like improvements in taxes and insurance. And in India the other big thing is just getting it too attached to a particular property whether young emotionally attached to home you want to purchase and over bidding for it or emotionally attached the current annual event and be unwilling to be a recognized the fair market value for that now. Adding another one and this is another item that's touched on here. And we just mentioned it briefly to before buying verse renting looks some people might be better off renting if you're think that you are in a situation where you want to be job hopping in a year to. Look no one knows what the real estate market is going to be like in a year necessarily good. Be buying you know seven and all of a sudden he can unload a place he'd be buying in 2011 and all of a sudden price are shooting up so it. Yeah it you can't really try to. Shoehorn yourself into buying a home. If maybe you're better off renting one in the short term. And it's not like a stock pretty high transactional costs for the exchanging real estate and a fifth. If you're going to be holding for two years me very very difficult for that property to appreciate when you consider those costs very significant so we're gonna get that article put up on our FaceBook page we'll get that posted warrior. Later today. Quick break right now when we come back we're going to be talking stock talk with Jack Moore from the straight on the financial exchange from our insurer match dot com studios. Force dot dog here on the financial exchange we are joined by Jack Moore from the street. Jack thanks for joining us today. Yeah. We're doing well let's talk first about PepsiCo here this company that reported a little bit before the bell. Showed a slightly better than expected. Earnings you're in a curious what your thoughts are on the company. So it's important we go into Jim Curran and our triple cut the other and it's it's only gone for awhile. It. An epic its quarter as Kurds why it really has kind of people name looking on dirt and there's an operator. And you'll throughout going to stand which. I ain't got that what. They don't all of it and years. You right now and it just showed in another order and that. On the bullet stick in strict orders of market expansion and and that in it and of the incredible but they don't do a lot of looking very. Well what did he not what what it simmer racket companies it. It that he next the right thing and all the rocket to the volume that the anti I've. You've purchased is the product and the price and that go that next group all important price curve that's kind of the alt a option. Usually a lot of these companies are having that are right in order to get the ball so. They had another Corwin as strong audience strong right thing and accurate at least on an open. You just later that would operational. Even indeed Eric RBI operators business literally look at any metric and you have and night and there's pattern in Europe which. In the Internet based and is experience people so I think that. Aid and it still trading I believe that it is it like this out a code is on a lot lower. And it actually being encumbered. It's it's not the law large numbers. So. I think pat is still a solid and on. That's the Pepsi has a pretty stable 10% earnings growth trajectory and curious how how often they tend to boost their dividend at a company that is bumping that up every year and if so by how much. Yet neither liberty. And that they have practiced it all up and bit bitter race at Berkeley order in great with that bit that bottom line that they have a I've passed. Theory. Well operates and they. They're basically I had it had their act and carpet company the girl that he and you want to. I'd accompanied it literally broke up passed a bird in and there are interred and our current and a burden I cola which it actually. How quickly they can turn matter. That inventory of products that I. Failed and ask. In terms right down the bottom line is 100 infection are back are you. Aren't they think. You know they'd they'd buy a background that. I've just kind of that are there sure annually and Manuel Lara are a dividend which I know they want you. Aren't even sure are you rise it will increase in deep go round that reach out and he's a big target. And then you have an active yield around and act yet by about. And it healed so I'm an advocate that you aren't T he company that lumber up by about and certainly an opera. Their dividend but these these guys organically prop. Give any concerns are with regards to the types of sugar taxes that were. One recently instituted in Philadelphia they're being talked about and other cities now is that something that could impact Pepsi. Yeah I mean it's definitely consideration I think that what it means that he is very burst. And it it acts as net actually. You know what has and driving a lot of the it's the consideration I think that. They've been very valuable to regulatory change is it. Days. You know initially written your engine and after that. When you are not a regulation. What happened. The fleet wide ranging I. He that it actually they were able that they they'll that there Ayers. Parent and I called electric mail and computer able to really whatever brought about them. On and it aptly. Adoration the basic pretty. But he loved about it on the conference call and birchard trans parent term and truck. I'm a reasonably good going to be. As crippling. Are you know. Let's talk now about white wave foods company this company obviously being bought out. By Dan known today. And I'm curious is this company that you you know had some bullishness on prior to this new based on their portfolio of of products they offer. Yeah and I'll be honest humble thought oh. And later out burger. Your outside. It did her along with our largest position but a lot I don't bring up he the that's about it but I'm you can talk about we we do have to. It's an NRA I would figured that I'd never own a company just the Coker option that we actually. Do we knew that was a a potential. And it's certainly we were waiting hoping it happened but. Regardless of the company's growing wheat are there that aren't they have there in grand I mean you you you look at the any of the credentials supermarkets and act a bill a lot of these. Editors of the markets and there's a one of the few companies where the editors are elbow yet. Like we've products which include like Christ our yank. A local brand pop album and now in the good accurate at bat. And so what what it it and it is one for all out there. On a term. At. Right and it was you know passed unanimously accepted output port however there is an option. There's still room board. Other larger Margaret you get on the company I would say it's the last remaining sizeable in grand. You know help you are in store packaged goods company maybe and bluster though but I don't think there are iron so I would not be part. Did the merge. Obviously it's really a lot. And as you could see you without you Betemit Coca-Cola and in their struggling or 12%. On the top line and they'll now. To have this act occurred there is or about. Is it is growth pretty much the most up precious commodity out there when you're looking at stocks right now. Growth is big but it recorded record compliment organic in the current position. Into that growth. Are they able. Well ideally and Martin's at least old mark the current and technically separate about. Lightweight figured it hit its vertically integrated as a dale. Condit he shouldn't but it could benefit certainly from. You know greater and larger and more chance to meet Patrick. The ability. And you need to be able to roll. Already so. To speak when he expressed regret that you understand that I've spent 3%. So. Though it does like it as a whole lot reflect and and year. It's a but with a lot of shots a lot of early age. Armed. Products that they are developing at the supermarket or it's not are the ball. Instead so they're very creative and earth matters but. Mark. I mean you got a deal at least part in it he. You're having your mark it and earning it you know incremental Kirk. Very good will Jack thank you again for joining us stand out congratulations on the victory lap on white way for you are right. I want. All. Outstanding Jack Moore from the street. Talk about two companies here PepsiCo with the ticker PEP. White way of foods with a ticker WW AB in case you missed it earlier. White wave is being bought out there. By Dan known the French company that makes a number of yogurt products most notably Dan in here in the US. As Jack said potentially may have someone making a counteroffer here in the stock is actually trading above. The offering price possibly on the expectation that someone may come in. Inmate in additional offer on the company at this point that company once again is white wave boot up about 18%. After the offer from Dan known today. But pretty much it's it's a relatively quiet day. In markets you're not a ton of movement. But again that is one of the stocks is moving right now white wave foods ticker on that once again is WW. AV we are out of time for this hour right now. We would back a little bit later right here on the financial exchange from the insurer match dot com studios. Always have to have one liken it it's been you know I think. A relatively quiet day in markets but I think a lot of people are starting to gear up for tomorrow with a big jobs report coming out the government jobs report due out. 8:30 AM on Friday the essence you've been waiting game recipes about flat now's about flat this name. Yeah not a whole lot of news then that the acquisition by Dan. Got not a whole lot of movement so far I US Treasury's ten year treasuries has sold off a little bit to one point 4%. German ten you're still in negative territory point negative point 16%. Gold has retrenched a little bit down into the thirteen 54 arranged an oil today. Recovering a little from yesterday. Up about forty cents to 4783. Right now. Let's talk a little bit about. Verizon and before we do this out and talk just both you and Tucker about. You know really you're your cell phone usage ruby both have as carriers as Verizon Verizon. So I'm the only team to a guy here so what's your experience been in general. His service expensive. Got family members based UNC had seen people use and sprint and T-Mobile and we'll just far more reliable for a as a. Now Verizon is going to be depending on the plan they're gonna be raising their plan prices by between five and ten dollars a month at this point would that cause you to while. You know look elsewhere may be considered jumping ship not. Think to a I would jump ship that it's only him you know five dollars in extra month and half I rarely get a drop call it think it's worth it. I'm very tempted to try out you know I see those as it over the sprint just hire a deal about Verizon. Heritage on it and you see that commercial and always tempted to do it be nice if you go test out these networks in San camera Karrie has thrown around me for five days CO BOC at a different places that I go actually work is. You know travel fair bit itself mainly around Massachusetts but if it drops calls and ornament locations. Workforce. Now what's what but I've always found interesting about the wireless industry especially in the last ten years that you're you're two smaller companies T-Mobile and sprint. Have really been able to dominate. The pricing model they've really cost a lot of the changes that we've seen in the last decade as far as pricing goes. And I'm curious if more people start to look outside of Verizon. After this year obviously look at Verizon can pass this increase through. Notes it's going to result some additional revenue coming there but at a certain point you know look. I always say this you know people don't realize how much they actually spend. On phones and TV and so forth just because it comes on a monthly basis but for example of your spending per family if you're spending 200 dollars on phones. 2500 bucks a year yeah I mean we really not talking about a small chunk of change you even just one phone with a basic data plan and a basic. Now voice plan you're talking more pro 6070 bucks a month so almost you know 900 dollars a year. Yeah it's very significant. Yeah I mean based on the fact alone that their reason the president mean a few years ago you know that's when really T-Mobile sprint they really start going after Verizon AT&T cut prices are directly going after them and changed the types of plans they offered. And Verizon AT&T they had to adapt they had to cut their costs it to get rid of the two year contracts do all of that but the fact that they are now willing to raise prices on that that tells me that. They they understand their position they're pretty comfortable with it. I think there's a real problem in and part of it is just due to the nature of the Telecom industry because there's so much investment that's required right now in terms of you need your basic you know land lines set up and you need you need to have all of the towers and so forth if there's a ton of investment that goes in there. But you look at it and it's starting to get to the point again if you have you know let's say that you've got a couple kids you know 1017. One's eighteen. And you've got phone for them you've got phone for husband and wife. I mean you're talking about you know again it took 300 dollars a month when it's all that and Don just to get phones for those people. I wonder if at some point soon people start to say you know what I mean we haven't seen this yet at all. If people start to talk about you know cutting off you know cell phones in a certain way just because we've seen it with cord cutting where people that look I don't wanna pay. 200 dollars for cable gonna cut the quarter pay fifty or sixty bucks a month they called today. No one's talked about it with cellphones but at some point you have to get there right. I don't know I'd be shocked to see it today in a year I guess I've seen one or two stories of people Sam fed up of having a constant information in my fingertips getting eaten working it's nice always does it get a flip phone and use that I don't see edit from the company's perspective from the industry perspective. They've got to be thinking how do we grow revenue at this point right and and look anyone's got a data plan at this point eight there's no more conversion to happen so how are you doing you got to raise prices of course it goes. Just about all the conversion over to Smartphones is taken pricey still subscriptions stragglers but you don't know they're necessarily ever going to convert. I think you're probably somewhere around eighty to 90% saturated as far as people who will ever go over to a Smartphone so. Verizon began bumping their wireless plans up to ten dollars a month depending on the plan use that's gonna be coming. In the next couple months there some good news for Samsung there are a galaxy S seven. Driving forward there are second quarter profits better than expected. Yeah and I was glad this is I use Sampson Cameron only people and those are you I'm quite happy that you know like yourself I love it. That I am looking at the the ascendancy Alec and it seems that VM related sales. And clearly struck a profit rose 14%. 17% year year. What was your reason for choosing the android platform over the apple like it did you have apple product I've never used Apple Computer never really used in. IPhone Norton patter and those products oh and I'd just never had dropped I've always use a different platform. Whether Microsoft or android. Is never use the student that. ITunes connection. Actions that you try. I think you join us some good and I you know I am really quite happy with Lander platform all the integration to do who's quite nice and I'm pretty happy that. Yeah like I know. That Samsung galaxy satin is the best Smartphone out there. But I just won't make the switch because I've been involved with apple far too law how absolutely I mean if you if that's the great thing about I leave I environment I've been involved yet apple how long it sounds like I l.'s relationship that we have a very solid relationship you know pleasure if you like it yes. But you don't want to leave exactly tuck yet I fear I know as a finance hats to him cook we can help you passes he can help you. Yeah I mean the big thing for his answer to and it's like their discount from higher rate you go from apple the Samsung you're not saving money on nine prize but it seems like paper to grow that brand which is good. I guess I guess they're blimps is what you may be seeing out there at some point the next couple years and Chris I appreciate you joining us here. Chris talked to me about these is it appropriate to call them blitzer do you have a different name for them. Well we have different bank we call them architect trapped coal at a depth. Blatant and trusting an update it in America in which stemmed everything you say in English English but what did it is say the world's largest bat crap. Ninety team because longer have that on 300 feet in American money. Talk about global feel like it's funny like he could get Lynn Scott. What's together but like that purpose not to let. Not give they Eric on apoplectic when shape well at getting all the benefit. And efficiency of being like that. Now what was the impetus for this project what problem wasn't trying to solve. That is the fundamental problem. Trying to help it get acting what indie act sufficiently. And she could write about that biggest downfall is getting things getting the action packed down on the ground again. Like keeping blatant and I don't wanna come down. So we sold about Biden making I like keeping. A little bit heavier and act but not actually sing beat all the efficiency could not having the unique entity to get the white the aircraft down. But you still get something that control DoubleClick and what do kaine in about when and doesn't need a lot of ground crew or in the structure to support it. Then the what you but he can carry eight. What do draping it can be called as it can be people or commit dual and the fuel for things get ultra and you're lifting to Spain and yet but three weeks at a time. We said. Yep yep that would let the united states military. Don't really interested in radium bolt because during the. Afghanistan campaign I wanted something that could provide assistance abatement. Today. Really helped develop the project but a lot of money into it it'll get a full front special and they Afghanistan draw down content right at the end of the program that we want on the program but we. Baltic. The camera now in redeveloping every developing as much force civil applications are from the rich. So how far along in the process are you at this point have you are you in full production right now are you taking orders where do you stand. Yep so we asked. Just about to fly at the new version that a sport is that we did the US army special Chinese court at law because it dignity that fly. In a civilian that it. So we just coming in the truly take you away from taking on express and you'll you'll it'll late that it needs when that happens. Stage we have to data about triple I'm all some breathing in edited for rotten news com. Try to contact Macedonia and let the things that we need to act on it. And not expect we gave probably MI but simultaneously. We taking orders are sweepstakes and we go to that one of the world's biggest trait Sherry in every aspect of Barbara access. It's happening next week we can't compete night meetings and I mean that leaking we had built a state of country to have looking define ordered. Is there chance we could see this replace Air Force One is that something that you've been. Let. It's Ike. Because the different tilt it going to be more comfortable. Than apple bought. You can see very save whoever the president is going to be net on and I'll not comment on. On the betting bigger than they are they'll be able to say all the citizens of the United States. Rita clearly plate put them on whatever whether they won't need to hold not. He went that was quickly to apple on speed is not wanted benefit but it helped me. But at the wringing brought it up the ultimate laughter ray it'll pay Edgar Wright didn't say it. The people at the site that we we advocates you know I told that the ground trying to not Condit I think from attack craft in the future. In terms of hauling cargo how much more efficient is it. From a cost perspective board different carriers who may be looking at one of these. But it beaten markedly more stations. Number what we don't need an apple we don't need any infrastructure at site. We can get right to be aware that it could be as we have to sort of bypassed a poll by a couple of. What can I guess it the metal to a lowering Iran to try to. Like a lot. Compared to an airplane. We spent about twenty spot to that extent of the few about. Three quarters lack at all in a twenty ought to let it because it has that changed. But in the next best thing that can pay to get eight to pay for many led helicopter. That very limited in range and and that you'll open and. They'd learn a lot of guilt with 10%. Of the fuel and a helicopter again not that such a big. Market and because look at the efficiency would not. Using. Energy to get the weight of the act crept up wearing using entity to get what ever quit cold it would carry an opening act. Chris is there a minimum size that you are able to have this technology work and I'm curious if this is gonna be something. That is pretty much exclusive to big companies that are. Buying these full size once or you may eventually. Have smaller be a personal sized ones that are significantly smaller and able to be purchased by consumers. But I love top more on but he he just the physics and it doesn't work tricky thing. You know average. American made 800 kilogram of weight not hundred cubic meters. Opinion dropped on it and they re not about in keeping the bulky an awful lot a lot of lip being GAAP. Just to get a single and in the act and basically everything that beneficial. Work. On make it big yet because. About the whole game veteran everything that isn't beneficial. Worked on a put it square function fate you've got you know the people want out against the glass started this a bit. My optical pocket picked but some. Basically that they get the bat and our. They're 300 feet long and he's about as humble that he can make what does that build anything you couple that he would pick up some. Forty to fifty per scaled demonstrates. That we could hardly anyone on the little. And so it just got to pay come what are we getting. They get no more so what will happen at 400 bought an apple want that can carry fifty pounds and about 200 tons of lights. They're cool we're doing well we're getting some text in for some of our listeners weird if people go if they want to read or learn more. About. These vehicles. I take educated eagle at Lambeau. Where did you what you find out all about that that would have a web site at www. Heartbreak and vehicle dot com. Quote is just putting. Wanted to achieve a set and you know get lots and lots of we go back. Outstanding look Chris it's a fascinating. Fascinating product that you're developing here and very curious to see how it goes the next couple years good luck to you will definitely catch up with the in the future okay. I. Chris Daniels from hybrid air vehicles I would love to see more more and I know that we shouldn't use the term blimp apparently but. I would love to see more and more hybrid or vehicle well it's if you think about it in terms of the the cost savings in and when I look at it. I think in terms of you know talking about. Things like minding fewer promote deposits that there's no air strip to what's that about Ivan did you know clear hold pat he simply clear you know little field in this thinking Landon under something like that gets. Think the big draws going to be towards areas with the lack of infrastructure so yeah getting raw materials out of you know pretty remote areas would be a pretty good tool mean here in the states in you've got training you've got so bad you know highways you can get suffer companies that that's a good point need to look at some other. Developing nations that might be good draw. Elect I think there's some huge things that you can do there and even even in the US look you talk from a you know we're talking earlier today about the the cost of train at this point train transportation. You know you city and you say okay. Look maybe this is the fastest way to go but. The average train you taken in the US right now is not going faster than a hundred miles an hour right and this gives you look first of all it's probably. Amazing view from this thing I mean you just kinda tooled around up there and then beyond that. You know the fuel savings in the cost of wonder what this would end up costing if you develop passenger versions of this if if this would be something that you know could make sense. Four replacing regional transportation where it's you know you're traveling you 500 miles and C can do that today obviously and you wonder if that's something that didn't you contribute in significant cost savings. Compared either air train this point more ups and be very interesting to see what's a little bit attribute today. We are doing Hoover Dam trivial why the kids on this day in 1930. Effectively it's into the kind of like a board that you can attach things to physical board had pictures that you attach a digital board on mine too so if you wanna share ideas that you are for instance finding for your new kitchen renovation which we are trying to do you. You can and those shares with people and kind of you know we can bounce ideas off by the so effectively act at that sharing site people to and share ideas on anything from recipes to you. Designs here and outfits and some publisher. Yeah it's it's. It's not a website that I particularly want to ever go to our knowledge if something had preferred stay away from end to this point in my life I have which. You know I'm very grateful for but let's talk a bit about this technology that developing because this is something. Google's been working on this Amazon has been as well it's it's one of the holy Grail as far as. Online retail and it's the ability to take a picture with your phone and send it to whether interest Google or whoever it is and say what is this I want to buy. Right here I am and that's why I have some concerns about the super interest is trying to take a look at this and see if they can really develop this technology or maybe they have already developed and are planning on rolling it out. But Amazon and Google have really struggled with this of him being able to take a picture of something and it successfully identified this is what this product is in this where you can find it. Yeah it's it's been difficult mostly because when you take a picture of something it's not. Just hanging up their perfectly like it is right in an image from the retailers something like that a lot of times you may take a picture of a jacket that you wrinkled up and it's you know kind of off. Axis and you don't quite see every bit of it. And so it's been a real challenge to get the accuracy. To where I think people wanted it's not. As simple as something like facial recognition where you able were you points of my reference and yet things are moving around as much but Jackie just by wrinkling your you know shadows crossing in the wrong way can be can look completely different. And because that's very difficult to get the software to work. He had I items I can imagine it working with maybe you have some success with furniture I mean if furniture isn't up to change much you can get the search that fair and easily deal the fine I mean this would be a big drop this company there and pull it off appliances. Yeah appliances that sort of thing I've just steady state objects that aren't going to change beta right now it's it's made some money on mobile advertising but they are able to do this to direct people to an Amazon to a way fair and say oh this is where this practice from this weakened by it. This amateur cost record from the app I think that the big drop this company. Up that big would be very cool to be something that might actually get me interest in interest for the first time ever but until then I will continue to avoid like the play. Let's talk a little bit about oil and specifically we've been talking about oil for the last. I don't know probably a year and half were closing in on two years since prices start out that that was that was what September 14. It's not going to be as easy as people think simply. Start ramping production up again because a lot of those people that were laid off they're not necessarily doing the same thing. Anymore the only analogy they used who has you know try and pull on the hook up on your car just leaving it there for a year and a starting at a year later the knocking it works so well he needs you know ramp up hiring you need to drilled you know get these wells rate to go again and it's gonna take awhile to do that. So while you have seen a rebound in prices so far it doesn't seem like the wells coming on. Quite as quickly as anyone would anticipate. Yeah it's I think you're the big thing you have a lot of talent that is gone elsewhere now. You have a lot of equipment that is not necessarily ready to go on day one because a lot of it has been shuttered and is necessarily in working condition right now so. A lot of questions as to how rapidly. You would be able to see oil lot output ramp back up again. And that does need to get into the questions about whether rob banks lend against oil deposits at what prices and and things like that so a lot of questions there that's going to be something. That yeah I think as the next year and a half goes on we're gonna have to. Really see how that all shakes out. Let's do a little bit of chatting about your mobile truck specifically. Chatting about Medicaid you're vocal trusts. You know I think a lot of people when they hear that term they tend to be afraid. Of giving up control they hear that word irrevocable. And yet they get nervous about. The of the topic in any generally. Don't really know what to do so what we do have today. Is we have a great guide. From Cushing and dole it's written by Todd lots key of the law firm Cushing and Dolan and it's titled the top. Misconceptions. Related to Medicaid durable global trust there are a number of them out there some related to taxes some related to cost basis some related. Not being able to sell home that in an air mobile trust there are a lot of questions that people have about them a lot of times. You know people don't necessarily get the right answers of Todd put together this. Paper here it's a great read it doesn't cost anything to get into debt it. You simply have to make one phone call 866848. 5699. Once again it's titled. The top misconceptions. About Medicaid irrevocable trusts again all you have to do to get it is call 866848. 5699. For the top misconceptions about Medicaid irrevocable trust is a great guide for anyone who is yet considering. Any type of a state plan anyone who has a parent who is considering estate planning pretty much everyone can find something in this. That I think would be abused them once again that number is 866. 84 rate. 569. Securities are securities America ink member in IPC advisory services are securities America advisors. Are represented at Armstrong advisory group in the securities American companies that we. Barrington and chuck. Phillips hey this is the financial exchange radio network. Interest rates come down and we've got a lot of questions about whether mortgages are going to be coming down as well. And we think you know better person to talk to than Jake toll is the senior vice president of residential lending leader bank and beyond. Jay let's talk a little bit about. What you are seeing in rates at this point have we seen any movement down as far as just your basic thirty year mortgages at this point. We have it it then very interest cinco. Great to have fallen excited about a quarter point cut. In this whole corrected situations started. And we've seen of flurry of refinance applications coming in in in really you know that the majority of activities tapping into a thirty year fixed rate. Which is tied to the mortgage backed securities and and being impacted by circled economic news. So it's it's been a very interest I think time from Landers perspective. When you look at refinancing what are the guidelines that you'll typically look at. In order to. Recommend to someone if they should or should not refinance how much of a difference in rate should there be and maybe how much principles should have been paid off at that point. You wouldn't take a question there's there's a couple key component at play the first one in most important qualities that make sure that. There's enough equity in your hole so. Typically did you read it and we we usually are asking for hours. You know what they're property worse than it and how much is involved bound to. You know usually if it about 80%. Loan to value ratio of the loan amount audience I think it's 40% of what how to could be worse. That that typically this signal that a refinance. You know should be something that can be pursuit the second thing. Is that the credit history to go get your back straight out there. Yeah apps boot Patri available usually minimum Michael score of 720. That being said there's plenty of programs available. For folks who have of course like consent. In meet tight because hundreds of and then this third important think that would have won it that. Either come situations that do they have the people that you operate it income history. So that we can yet ticket to support while. To those three components are really kind of world we focused on talk to borrowers that recent. Outside of the thirty year what are the products each seeing people using. At this point he's seeing an uptick in adjustable rates or anything like that right now you know. We or your reasoning is coming in we do see him fifteen year expected beef for folks to old girl. For a while and in. They want to keep their mortgage short. Don't 5 morning 71 arm you know he's got that had been moved down as much. Because owe more of the the movement in the rate actually been on the long term side so there fifteen years in thirty year rate. And in in terms of new home purchases what does this do. When we talk about rates coming down he said the thirty year was down about a quarter percent is that right right what went when. The thirty year ticks down like that what does that do in terms of affordability how much more home can someone afforded that. Yeah creek creek questions so I mean. It. Ultimately. Should push up home value if you think about it. A person now able to older more Holmes for this team team. So we you know if you if you take example someone who may be. Bite of 500000 dollar home and put to 40% down to take up 400000 dollar mortgage you know quarter point. In rate reduction almost a thousand dollars a year in their pocket. 83 dollars a month of interest they don't but you know that's substantial. So that that allow that person to bite you know slightly more expensive property in the may have done in the past. Jane there's also a lot of people out there that may have been impacted back in 0709. By the financial crisis and I know a lot of them if they're finally getting to the point where their credit is better. But not necessarily in that. Good to excellent range what types of options are out there for them of their interest in getting back into. Homeownership. Yes so there's there's some good programs out there for folks who. Less than perfect credit you know that the one that really comes to mind is yet BJ program. And and you know there's certain. Local programs like meant housing and others. That are available in you know the great thing is that although they mean and yet he aptitude that streak. We they're still gonna get a phenomenal rate and needed to differences. Meeting negative rate that cute and slightly higher but we're at all time lows right now so there's plenty of programs available. A broad spectrum. Told the process take for refinancing. You know it it typically take. Anywhere between two re weak spot five or stick week depending upon a couple of things. The primary. The primary point the process. That take up some behind the appraisal process. And go to Billy decrease or get out there and provider value of the property to the second thing that takes a little bit at times sometimes it. If the borrower has the second lien on there hole like home equity line of credit with another day. And because. Two letter the first Sloan had to get deep approval of this. Second lien holder to do the refinancing that can take some time. I would I would like it anywhere between you know to read it because we it also of course you know which which which activity some of the lenders are getting quite be the and that and that kind of extended a little bit but usually you're able took lockyer read it for about six EPA's and that's that's sufficient time orchard. Heard good. Talking about mortgage rates specifically talking about refinancing we get a lot of questions that come in about when it makes sense to refinance you looked into recently for yourself is that right. Yeah I had and I decided probably wasn't worth the you know it's a fair bit of work to do and I'll get all the reports together and and you fair bit of closing and I found the rates hadn't come down quite far from where I'm currently hand to refinance but I did just get my mortgage backed December. So desert but yeah you're only within the last six months of but. It is a case where someone did you even bought a home two maybe three years ago yes it sounds you've seen rates come down half a percent three quarters of 1% so. There may be some situations. Where people actually know made it may make sense and refined even though it's only been a couple of years you have attention and keep in mind that it's really in the longer term have come out the fifteen yard -- makes cents where's your arms might now get this the short term the the adjustable typically if not move right now. Let's talk about this article from CNBC and this is an article talking about charitable giving and specifically. Making sure that you are betting the charities that you are giving to so that you're really giving to what you think you more. Yeah and I personally do this reverend donating to charity navigators are pretty good place to start that'll you know help you determine. How much of its really spent on overhead. Just how much of your dollars going directly towards the cause your hoping to donate to do. They've any guidelines as far as where you know what is do you have any personal guidelines as far as look at the threshold that you look for in terms of how much money actually goes to. You know a certain causes opposed to overhead and you know expenses. You know I think. I think one of the guidelines that I seen out there is upwards of 90% he is seen having going towards the actual cherry rather than you know company CEO compensation and other overhead it obviously also depends on the type of charity. You know certain of that in certain types of brick land trusts or things like that where they're trying to. Preserve land could be spending a lot of money on acquisition with Josh doesn't exactly go towards that category but it really depends. This ponderous reaches that they receive. What thing that I found interest in reading through this just that I think you know I never necessarily thought about not know of other people did. Either is the fact that. When you if you were to donate via credit card. But times that charity just Pip processing before that credit card processing and so you may think you're donating a hundred dollars they only get 95 that actually and he makes more sense. To send the money via check or some other form. Yeah that's another thing to take in consideration given so just something to consider there but your quick recap of bond markets today the Dow Jones currently down at seventeen. 888 down just 29 points right now the S&P 500 is down about one point at the moment the NASDAQ is up. 60 pretty much flat market today so for dad not a whole lot of movement. Wave that report tomorrow. Still waiting for the jobs report tomorrow and I think we take a look through some of the other on numbers that are at their ten year treasury still below one point 4% only one point 39% is a little bit of money has gone back in there. This is one that I find amazing the how loaned to the dollar dollar 29. Dollar and I'm really really hurt exports. Yeah it's it's it's going to be a challenge for US based exporters and I know. In particular when you look at some of those other companies that are based in the UK yeah there actually potentially seeing some benefits if someone wants to do business with him and the time to go to London. Written or Ireland. To replace the depth if you have planning a vacation over that way. Not necessarily a bad time to lock considered doing it at this point what if some other numbers here oil. Still up just slightly right now up about actually just turned downward very sharply in the last couple minutes we got a crude stock draw that was disappointing down now dollar twenty after being up about forty cents just prior to that. Gold at the moment trading down about eight dollars to thirteen 58 so little bit of a selloff there after a big rally in the last couple weeks. But overall as you said this is a market that not shown a ton of movement today I think a lot of people waiting for that jobs report tomorrow.
