Hi everybody welcome to the financial exchange carrier truck with you here on a beautiful Wednesday. And so much to discuss. He was already stars with a test of story and then at 10 AM we've got this data regarding existing home sales. And I have to push it out on top story we're gonna skip Tesla will come back to test. Existing home sales. In a looking at nationally there up one point 9% when you compare them to last me existing home sales up one point 9%. When you compare. Existing home sales year over year ago truck they're up four point 7%. In in the northeast. Existing home sales up thirteen point eight. Percent peak number last year. Big number there and this is also nationally the highest level of sales in February of 2007. Now so you are the highest level in about nine and a half years right now you are seeing in particular in the north east and the south. Significant bumps in the number of details and in the last year. And the place that you really seen the struggle the midwest sales down six and a half percent makes sense they'll make sense energy sector. Yeah I guess you're considering that I guess yeah it when you are totally considered out. Audience banked there and absent a crashed out there definitely you're gonna have polled default mortgage defaults car loan defaults. You'd North Dakota South Dakota Ohio Pennsylvania Avenue school up and downs it anywhere where there's a big energy sector Texas is going to be ugly. And look just if you look at his nationally at the sales pace that you saw in May you've got about a four point seven month. Stock of inventory out there typically a six month supplies where you have a healthy supply and demand. You still seeing low inventory numbers you know that it's still is ball we've talked about the the potential for. You know some bubbles and in real estate right there and I are going to have issues there's nothing from a supply and demand perspective yet but showing it. But you know you figure you wonder more people are gonna start with homes on the market when they see some of these numbers that are coming. Prices up four point 6% across the country but in the northeast down point 5% very peculiar deceit pricing down a little bit. So anyway strong housing numbers day to get the look at and say overall it's a strong housing. Report in terms of existing home sales and thanks to talk herself for garnering that information force talked. Packers the man. Hey I let's talk a little bit about tassel hey everybody and their brother is just beating up on line and Elon Musk. And I'll be on a night the at a man crush on him yet I think he's. He's rich Smart. Everything you wanted man he's a risk taker in this area it's great guys. And another idea is born you exotic. Ilan mosque. Largest individual. Shareholder in Tesla also largest individual shareholder in solution that he is the CEO of both of those companies and chairman of the board and chairman of both the boards. Last night coming out out of nowhere on tally your shorting solar city stock you just got your face for. While I was sorting tussle whatever I closed at that position at this would Hamachi give you must have been nice little bit change. 1% net net today a tale Tesla stock was down eaten half percent. Solar city stock up 11%. And nobody likes ST nobody. I mean I've I've been talk and guys all morning long on for for four hours and found anybody likes this the I don't like. What talking about what you like barely let me tell you my in and understand is due you have to understand the solar business. The solar business. And I'm talking about solar panels on C you'd ever. You make if you drive down your ultimate voice in in your community. You know. I have to commercial properties where I've installed solar panels and if you're consumer Ike Italian. Solar makes a lot of sense it's a good deal in a way it works is. You by the panel's you have them installed professionally. On your roof. And the son pays your electricity bill and when there is no side and you just tapping into the end of the grid and win. The Europe creating more like candidate elected a year and create more electricity and you need chuck. You sell it back to the power company at full price. So when the wonderful deal for somebody who wants a panel. But the company doesn't make money. That's the problem that I have with that is I yet I addicted it is a once you get past kind of a three to five year run. You want to being in the black ordinance that make a lot of sense my question is as an investor source that he was accompanied its losing about a billion dollars a year now okay. It is not profitable and they've tried to overcome that by scaling but they ever really been able to do that. And I wonder you know effectively it looks to me like Elon Musk as a company that is doing very well and saying look I'm gonna try to prop it up and you know bring it in choose this. Into the fold and another company. Just so that I can you kind of keep it afloat it doesn't strike me as something that makes a ton of sense because is a money losing operation it doesn't add value to. Tesla on the surface I agree it does here's where I think it adds value to test. When it's going to do with what's going to happen to the energy business is people like you'd shocked and people like Tucker and people like me. Who don't want to subsidize our neighbor neighbors solar panels because that's what happens I don't know yet recognized suspect. When your neighbor. Put solar panels on his roof you're paying part of their like yeah I think there's regulation it's gonna take care of that purity seeing it start pop up in places now and when that happens. Then what you're gonna wanna dues journalists say why wanna block the grit and what are you gonna do you know by Tesla battery and put it in the basement I don't and just you're not gonna even have a power cord when in your house. I disagree I don't think there's gonna be many people going off the grid while the the idea. And did you and did you like little grid power the Genesis of the lawn mosques ideas he's researched this this is not a dumb guy right he's saying. Hey it's going to be cheaper for people to buy one of my batteries and he wants to it batteries are scale business right. Panels are scale business and he wants to be able to not only going to homeowner and say I wanna sell you forty panels but I also wanna sell you forty panels. With his battery which is where we're in a story the power and that way you can go off the grid the problem is that neither of those businesses are profitable. Yet but there's nothing that you you look at source it is nothing to suggest it's going to be a little bit beat my theory on this is going to be. There's going to be one survivor in the solar panel business in the survivor will be the company can go off the grid. Because you're right all the solar companies lose whether it's energy that. Know that no one want like the people who want to go off the grid. It's this small minority of people so far that went cute once the power company comes to me. And says will bury you right we're not gonna buy back here excess power from solar panels you know I'm gonna do an essay on Google by battery and on and block different. I don't think people understand what that means. It's the agency buying the XX power no I don't think I don't think most people understand what going off the grid means in terms of reliability just he's got a battery and doesn't mean that it always works if that battery breaks for whatever reason you're sitting there and you've got nothing. And in the power companies can say sorry we can't help you know like. I think that the idea of going off the grid is more attractive than it actually. There's less attractive than it sounds. First ball would I described as the logic behind tests whose desire to purchase solar city. Now I don't know if you pull this off stockholders. Even those Elon Musk owns a lot of the stock. He has recused himself from voting so he's not gonna vote this right so he asked to sell this and he's been on the phone all morning. Trying to sell this too big investors you know the big investors are. Mutual funds. An investment. It's I am I have real questions about this deal because the other thing this means for tussle they've got to go out and raise another two to three billion dollars now. You know they they've got to go out his all that capital U member about a month ago they did that thing where they you know big Goldman bumped up their price target and then they raise money off the back of that bright. What they've got to go raise money again I mean because you're talking about trying to wrap up to 500000 vehicles. I wonder. I have serious questions about Tesla as a company now I I love the product I like I love the innovation. I have serious questions about their ability to run a profitable business. Now I just wanted to give because nobody had been talking about what the synergies are between ten excellent source that he. So wanted to push that out and I will tell you I do not own stock in either company I don't own any shares in Tesla. And I don't own any shares in solar city. Odd what a bill quickly to the bricks and vote it if it appears to be well let's put it this way. There's a 24%. Chance of a bricks it according to the gamblers however. 69%. Of all individual bets being placed have been for the leave side. So it see it looks. Democrats are significantly smaller because if you look at the dollars wagered. The dollars have gone to the remain side but you've seen a lot of small bets going to believe side but the bigger ones are all on the remains which to me when you look at that. Little money tends to vote with its heart big money tends to vote you know with with its. For me while on Monday I saw the poll you know sought to polls on Monday there's been really no polling done since the weekend there will be. Rick where we might we're a day away. Well week in and here's the question do we know more night when we go to bed now probably 2 AM. Somewhere in that ballpark I I think that's the correct answers I'll get my. My text message at two or 3 in the morning but will wake up on Friday in low. I think the market's rally. Had been doing so based on. The fact that there are bad bedding everybody around the globe is betting that Great Britain remains in the European Union. I think it's definitely true you looked at just what European ETFs as an example have done over the last week from June 16. June 16 the biggest one the vanguard Europe ETF was down around 4494. It is rallied 12% since then. That's on I think the expectation that you are going to. Actually what happens if they vote to leave. A that'll be a 20% wheels are gonna come off put a percent there. Hey you know most guys my age spend their time golfing in my spare time I listen to Ginny fields speech and I'm going to I've got a highly resort here that I've I've got a highly real again elements commentary yesterday if you speaking in front of congress. I couldn't believe how stupid questions were coming out of there out there were some well. What these guys are complete more but here's the thing what you expect well I expect sub and I would expect the congressional leader. Have a basic understanding how the economy I think that the problem. With congress is that. In and look at the problem with that human nature you vote for people that are like you and and you don't want someone who is not well versed in these things but unfortunately a lot of congressmen are a world subject to to what the congressman said. But I will what you hear the highlights of Janet Yellen speech yesterday that's next from our insurer match dot com studios. Barry Armstrong here and I'm joined by Todd blocks from the law firm Cushing and dole and we're talking about Medicaid income trust Todd if somebody has done their trust planning what is the biggest red flag that they should be looking for in the drafting of their legal documents you know you need to do to really take a look at your documents and look for certain paragraphs that must be in there. In certain paragraphs that should not be in there for example it's OK if it's as you have the right to the income that perfectly okay. But you want to make sure there is actually a paragraph in there that prohibits you to get the principal directly. He can get it indirectly but not directly and if you don't see it say you're looking for your document you say well I see that I have the right to the income. But it just doesn't say anything about my ability to get principle in other words it's silent as to principle that is probably the single biggest red flag you can have because. If you don't spell it now the State's gonna come back and say hey because you didn't deny the rights to principal in the state you're probably can get. The states are doing this because they're under tremendous financial pressure sure they. And I think because there are also learning that a lot of lawyers have been practicing in this field for a very short time and are drafting these things incorrectly and the winning. And the clean their winning went when they're drafted in correctly but the positive front is there's been a lot of cases lately saying it's been winning. For this for the people. Todd what's key is making available a brand new guide it's designing the perfect in come only durable global trust that's a mouthful. This there at the charts graphs and numbers old just listen to. Yes it's the financial exchange with Valerie Armstrong and chunks of on the funding to exchange radio network. Larry Summers has appointed a new phrase for secular stagnation. Analyst that's catchy yet you know it's. And get used to based on what we heard from the Federal Reserve yesterday. We are going into a long period I guess we've already been a long period of secular thing could you say that. They probably could mean it's it's been a very slow growth environment since coming out of the recession we have not seen the level of growth that we have in previous recoveries. And it's it's being I think slower than just about every one had anticipated and everyone hoped for let's hear what Janet Yellen had to say. Giving testimony yesterday in front of congress. Since my last appearance before this committee in February. The economy is the need for it to progress toward the Federal Reserve's objective. Of maximum employment. And while inflation has continued to run low or 2% objective. The Federal Open Market Committee expects inflation to rise to that level. Over the medium term. And whip it the pace of improvement in the labor market. Appears to explode more recently slow suggesting. And are cautious approach came to a stop last month monetary policy remains appropriate. In the labor market cumulative increase in jobs since its trough an early twenty TM. Has now topped fourteen million. Well the unemployment rate has fallen more than five percentage points from its peak. In addition as we deep teal in the monetary policy report. Jobless rates have declined. For all major demographic groups including for African Americans and Hispanics. Despite these declines hair Wear fur it's troubling that unemployment rates for these minority groups. Remain higher than for the nation overall. And at the annual income of the median African American households. Is still well below the median income of what you're US council economic growth has been uneven over recent quarters. US inflation adjusted gross domestic product. Is currently estimated to have increased. In an annual rate of only three quarters percent in the first let's. Operate their Tucker meet three quarters of 1%. GDP growth she's reflecting. Q1. GDP yet. Three quarters 1% we're seeing projections for Q2 of what maybe two and a half in that ballpark Judah to a quarter to perhaps somewhere around you extrapolate that. You're looking yet. Perhaps an annual GDP. Of what. Maybe we're lucky we if we hit two for the year I think you're probably somewhere in that one and a half to 2% range that stagnation. Rate to 8% growth. 2% growth you know was listing did Jack Reed who's a you know little known congressman from New York he came out. And said you know what eat we got to take pressure off of the Federal Reserve it's up to congress is right paths some pro growth legislation he's right. The Fed can't generate growth people who think that the Fed can generate growth they don't understand how works depicting what the Fed is designed to do is reduce friction in the economy by saying look we're going to try to have a stable monetary system. When that works but they can't generate growth now they you know this because if you look at what Japan is done the last twenty years with that is done the last five. They can't do with the ECB has been trying to they can generate growth you can't do it with monetary policy. When you ask yourself the question I ask you all this question when was the last time you saw. Congress he saw any legislation coming out of congress that was pro growth. Lose it had you have to go back to the bush admin street you've got to go back probably thirteen years to 2003 with a prescription drug plan where they said hey we're gonna do something that's going to help grow the economy. I don't know you know elect a tax cut. Obama has raised taxes on numerous occasions in the more you raise taxes all you're doing is you're taking money out of the private sector in your putting it in the hands of the government right. Private sector if you raise my paycheck all spent a promise right it's old most Americans are ADB give them more people. An increase in their paycheck they're gonna go out spend what does that do to get the economy. Congress has done nothing in terms of inspiring. Any kind of capital spending let's hear announced any ailments. She year. Subdued foreign growth in the depreciation of the dollar weighed when exports. Well the energy sector was hard hit by the steep drop in oil prices. Since mid when he fourteen. In addition. Business investment outside of the energy sector which surprisingly weak. And with it you feel Opel it indicators point we noticeable step up in GDP growth. In the second quarter the foreign seat continues to anticipate that economic and conditions will improve further. And the economy will fall in the manner it will warrant only gradual increases in the fact reflect history let's stop that. There too so. Which he was hinting at there when she made that statement only gradual increases we learned last week that of the Minnesota fed bill on a raise rates one time between now and the end of 2018. And he asked. You're going to be living with low low interest rates folks for a long time. I think you are in and the problem with that is you know we also talked about how fed policy can hurt the purchasing power of the average American look at you've got money in savings account earning a quarter percent if you're lucky now connect. If inflation running 2% you're losing purchasing power now typically your being taxed I refer to that is attack he absolutely is because typically. If you are giving up your purchasing powers of the government has more which is pretty much what he'd do when you have rates below inflation. That is a tax you don't it is not a direct tax it's not something where you're paying money the government. But you feel saying hey tax is these seem basic principle. Right he talked anybody who's got money invested in a bank CD in let's say it's 200000 dollars. What's it hasn't moved from 200000 dollars in the last several years. And yet what you combined with 200000 dollars is significantly less today than it was five years ago there there had been no change in terms of of the value of your account and I don't know how how I don't know how you can define that is being anything. Other than any form of tax are when we come backward B typing a look at its the push towards a new soccer stadium for a New England there now they play out of the side to let. In Foxboro. Understanding how to build a well rounded investment portfolio is one of the keys to being able to withstand market fluctuations that means you need an advisor who can create a global investment strategy that includes the international markets many products made in Japan and across Europe are extremely popular in the United States particularly those from the auto and electronics industry it may also be beneficial to consider a foreign nations diversified low cost index fund wore one of its exchange traded fund if you're advisor hasn't discussed the value that exists within the international markets been called the Armstrong advisory group at 803934001. Again the question is what was the name of the character played by Marlon Brando in the 1972. Film the godfather. Truck or a talky bit about soccer do you go to soccer games. I've been to probably now is that the Brazil Peruvian couple weeks ago to upstate New York. There doesn't seem to be much of me soccer fan base in New England they I was looking at the average attendance for a revolution games about 141000 people. Yeah I don't know if I would go that far I think there's a lack of a soccer fan base that either wants to or is able to travel to Gillette Stadium you think etc. I think it is a huge factor here. So I can tell you I would have revolution season tickets if they played in Boston why that he just because it would be taken two years I got either walk or take Petit. Trying to trying to get in and out of Gillette if you if you had a big group of people there if you ended up with you know 3040000 people there. You want to deal with especially you know you talking about you do for football games eight times a year ago not ya gonna do it yet 1617 times a year hypocrisy how law how many games as soccer's I believe the MLS pleased either 32 or 34. Game schedule at this point. So Bob Kraft to owns the team probably wishes he did not my guess is he's. He's losing money on this team with 34 games what they place a seventy homes seventeen a way to money loser though the team. I think they are close to profitability and analysts now. I'd leave it there either pretty there's somewhere right around break even right now it it was a money loser for probably ten to twelve years. But they are getting close I think either breaking even or making just since small profits. So he would like to build the stadium. Next to UMass Boston for soccer. I think they would cleanup you do I think they would clean paper and again I would I would have foresees tickets if they were in Boston. Amtrak. But I honestly I say that I've been to a revolution game in probably the the last time I went with when they were in the finals back in 2003. So I've been to a game in thirteen year because there's tons of New England kids that play soccer sure they -- I don't wanna go to Foxboro. I mean I never on who were Aleutian game because it's all the way in Foxborough on a knocked it drive an hour out. Go to the game in the dry in a take an hour and a half coming back fighting trapped in an effort that some people do it for football but they won't do for soccer yeah yeah and tells a different beast so how biggest stadium does he wanna build the Boston. Well there's there's. Talk about you know in general you're probably looking at something between twenty and 35000 people somewhere in that ballpark my guess most of the soccer specific stadiums that have been built in recent years you talk about the size of Chicago 20000. Columbus, Ohio 20000. New York City 30000 Merced in New York. Red Bull arena is in where is it wants very much for Arlen. And they sell on out though they get people to go to began W they aren't let's see what the average attendance is about twenty yet they're pretty now selling out there it looks like. But you look at the other stadiums Toronto 30000. LA 27000. All there the city depth its you have now is that a minority it fan base is it something that he is definitely got a lot of Brazilians or go to the gain in Kansas City. All depends on the city if you look at places since Seattle for example plays in the Seahawks stadium. They draw 40000 a game they sell that place out they don't over you know upper tier but they sell 40000 tickets a game you go to how do you turn that to light why is it is soccer that much more popular at the location of the stadium nausea. Fans have always been a little bit nutty when it comes to sports you talk about you know some of the things they do and I think that just that as well as this the founders I think came in right after. The Supersonics left in basketball and I think he filled a little bit of a void there and so I think you had that but I think there's a lot of people that if you had a 25 to 30000 seat stadium. Apps like again I would have season tickets if that if they had a stadium in Boston it was accessible by public transportation. I would absolutely apps a lot of money go near it is to build stadium can cost a fortune. You know we will but the new stadiums that you've seen built they're not as expensive as Bayside expo was where he once great aren't yet the new stadiums are as expensive as you would think I'm gonna pull up 14 some of the new stadiums that are out to support and for example has a 21000 seat stadium. That opened back in 2000. That it's renovation exit there there's with the renovation that they did but it effectively cost about forty million dollars to renovate in old stadium some of the new ones I think Toronto has won. Yet Toronto has won that they built back in 2007 the cost 71 million dollars or you're not talking hundreds of millions like like you would. For football or baseball stadium because it's not the size and up complexity skyboxes too like the luxury suites and things like pattern jock and more about you don't have as many. OK just if you don't typically have the same corporate demand that you do when your other major sports. But you would absolutely be able to have some usually most places now for soccer specific stadiums sixteen to twenty is what you need as opposed to you know basketball arena which may have fifty so when you went to Argentina Peru that was Brazil Peru Britain Brazil Peru death was at sold out. Knows who they closed off a portion but there were I think about 34000 people there. I think it's probably the most dynamic story in the restaurant space today and not only and everybody realizes that at the start much retail locations and am doing very well traffic there but still at the other thing is being behind now what they're doing. They've done be. You know at the forefront of the small border paid development about to capacity with restaurants. To the scene. What is the biggest red flag that they should be looking for in the drafting of their legal documents you know you need to do to really take a look at your documents and look for certain paragraphs that must be in there. In certain paragraphs that should not be in there for example it's OK if it's as you have the right to the income. That's perfectly okay but you want to make sure there is actually a paragraph in there that prohibits you to get the principled directly. He can get them directly but not directly and if you don't see it they are looking for your document you say well I see that I have the right to the income. But it just doesn't say anything about my ability to get principle in other words it's silent as to principle that is probably the single biggest red flag you can have because. If you don't spell it now the State's gonna come back and say hey because you didn't deny the rights to principal and the state you're probably can get. The states are doing this because they're under tremendous financial pressure I'm sure they. And I think because there are also learning that a lot of lawyers have been practicing in this field for very short time and are drafting these things incorrectly and the winning. And they're playing their winning went when they're drafted in correctly but the positive front is there's been a lot of cases lately saying it's been winning. For this for the people. Hi everybody happy Wednesday and happy stock market recovery that Dow up. 73 points at 171902. And chuck the only thing I've been telling. Is it written votes to leave the European Union we're gonna get this all back. Yeah it's I think a lot of this rally has been based on some thinking that Britain is not going to be leaving the U. I sure think so. Polling has been pretty mixed it still is really within. You know if you kind of rate near that 5050 mark on a lot of the polls right now yeah but the thing you typically see is undecided voters in events like this typically. Tend to lean towards the status quo and so because that. I am starting to think that the more likely scenario is than staying in the EU. But I still think there's a decent chance probably 25 to 30% that they don't end up that they end up leaving. It's funny you know you've you've been on the fence the whole time and I've been convinced that the unit remain. And the closer we get the vote the more nervous I get. I'm I'm concerned about this because I keep reading stories. And keep getting text messages from our listeners and on my FaceBook page embrace and I'm not I'll bury your guy you got this all wrong they're gonna leave. I don't know. I got I'm genuinely nervous about the. It's in general most people who are undecided when they get in chewed them the voting Booth typically in and we've seen this play out in past referendums and so forth we sought in the Scotland referendum last year you know he also signed to maintain the status. You know we also saw it in this was one was back awhile in the back. The at the separatists who wanted to leave Canada are they just a little out there though a toilet that was a close vote was that close it was very close and there's a lot of animosity. Between French Canada and English speaking cant go which way. Well the couple out west don't care much for people in my income back. He just made that I'm not gonna get into the Betty there's a lot of hard feelings on both sides of that trade. And you know they were. Hell bent on leaving the separatists and and they've won several elections separatist parties won several elections in combat. And they voted Tuesday said tear to your point Gerry get in that Booth Galilee Largo ago. It was a Social Security check. Maybe the devil I know isn't as bad as a double I don't. Yeah the easier just across the board is not even just voting and it has its human behavior you know that people tend to stick with the familiar even if they don't particularly like. You have to explain something to me yes it's. Happens pretty regular. Oil inventories were down a lot 900000. Barrels to 900000 dollar barrels and I said at a salon at Utrecht principle because I know it's gonna go up. It's up but it's not like two to 4895. That's it's moved up slightly here I think it's you know it's it's. A smaller than expected. Decline in the of those inventories actually. The expectation. Was that last week UC about a five point two million barrel decline. This one is smaller here so I think it's you've lost a little bit of momentum in terms of how fast those inventories are dwindle. Tucker I've got good news for you are really cuts and stimulus money in my cards I think that he. Millennial are no longer the worst. Really I've got something you've earned a law generation ours the worst and best of you're no longer the worst 13 of people ages 36 to 51 that would be referred to as Generation X. yeah sock. Says that they've had seen nothing in an emergency. You're 36 years old and you don't have any money numbers they've done nothing this is 13 of this age groups of your 36 to 51. Do you have any money saved up in an amber treatment as the 13 of your peers do not well and. And keep in mind just in general. 27% of all Americans above age eighteen don't have a six month emergency fund either currency talk a a quarter of people and this gets back to you know and and I wonder if this is overestimating actually the number of people that you have that safety you remember that study that we referenced couple weeks ago that said the like 40% of people in kidnapped 400 dollars available. I don't know it's 47%. Of Americans across the board I'm not about doing this one and a generational basis we're just yeah in general you measure the whole country. 47%. Of the country could not write a 400 dollar emergency check without having to sell something borrow money you're you know there. The wheels come off again 400 dollar emergency checked. How well can we be doing is a country if 47% of our population does not 400 bucks in the bank. Yeah it's it's it's a real real problem with you know with where things are right now you simply do not have. Enough people in high enough paying jobs to be able to get that money. Yeah so we save. Write it world broke nobody's got any money nobody is an emergency fund but then our next story. Reflects the improving credit scores in each hit dispute this this is data. There we've come across consumers improving credit scores give bank's recent cheer I don't care banks have reason to cheer or not. But the number or the percentage. Of US adults with credit scores that are considered sub prime today. All right so let's just think. Which you know with the sub prime but he changed somebody it's got to a bad credits 30599. Yeah so if you're in that category you're one in five. Today. Which from my perspective it's getting better but I think it just means we're less bad you know you talk about how bad we were back in 2008 and 2009. I mean you Hewitt. You're at a quarter of people that we're sub prime at that point 258 is bad about that one in four people back then were below 600 terms their credits when I told you how about it but you lost your job I mean I'm not saying it's their fault necessarily I'm saying. Look like you that that's how bad it was to say now that we've gotten down to you know 21%. Just means that less bad than before it's got to help the real estate market doesn't. Gotta be like you think about link if you go from 25%. Of people. They do eat you can't borrow much money opens you've got a 580 Kenya and Dina and I'll probably not right here and it can't do you hang it Holland of interest it's usually not affordable for that I think. One thing that's interest though I was talking with a friend the other day he is. 42 I think okay. And is wife is a nurse and they've moved around a little bit for different nursing jobs and so forth and they had a bad experience buying back before the op financial crisis. They're very hesitant to get back in the real estate market ever again ever it's something they still feel that way this much later yeah. Yeah and it's it's it's just you know they were so scarred by what they went through. That I think that even though you're seeing a lot of improvement in credit scores and people getting their financial house at least somewhat more in order. I think there are a lot of people that don't want anything to do with homeownership. Because they did see another stat that made me feel pretty good monthly debt service payments accounted for ten point 07%. Of households disposable personal income at the end of last year. That's down from a peak of thirteen point 2%. In 2007. Sort of try to edit it what I'm trying to say is. We may not have an emergency fund but as a country were managing our credit much more responsive. And here's the other thing when you relate that to what's going on in the economy that may be part of the reason why you have a somewhat sluggish economies people aren't borrowing as much as they did before in order to buy things OK so. You know you factor that in. And look where I'm a little bit better behavior than we were before but in the short term that does hurt a little bit because you don't have as much consumer spending bill. We'd love business owners here at the financial exchange in if you own a business I hope you'll visit our website it's the financial exchange showed dot com and let us know about your business tell us a little bit about your business but the contact section. Jim Andrews he's the founder of discovery patterns Jim thanks for making the drive down from Manchester, New Hampshire terrific though. So tell us a little bit about discovery patterns what do you guys do how to make money. Well we do as we provide it intelligence insight based on this more information exists on the the the Kuwait talking about that right now is big data. And in particular for us it's called unstructured that. That's the messy stuff that is coming from machine sensor for. Some kind of device on a car it's to help you port discourse of writing about something other expressing feeling and opinion. It's a take all that unstructured data and roll into the analytics and the database that we have. In week we sent the side the high level view we're the world's going what major themes. Are evolving and what trends should be focusing on based on its collective intelligence. From unstructured data ex what what do you big sources four that data is are using new FaceBook posts are using Google certainly we're deeply data for all that there's there's basically there's many many RSS feeds up there that access to news aggregators and access there's major blow up places that you can collect thousands and thousands of blogs. In general we tend to shoot the the FaceBook and Twitter stuff because it is so messy. And in terms of having a long term view about world world might be going oh deciding might be on. FaceBook and and and quarter very good form very very quick events that are happening in terms with interest what's sexy. But we're looking that was happening for four months or maybe here for years on the road. Looking at all these trends you know accumulate to something that's useful. Does this also within the strategy that use and know that both FaceBook and Twitter had problems with. Either fate users are bot uses and so forth this helps to weed that out as well. Absolutely is is that you have the consent of and in Twitter and FaceBook. To be you know boosting the system about how great you are up a greater product as a candidate has yet. But in this case here is that what you're accumulating information over many weeks and months and maybe even years and it's really really hard to be spoofing the system when you're looking at such a long string. Of how a trend or theme is evolving. And so we find that all being weeded out by our analytics work that. No do you look at data in any particular industries or we do projects across various industries depending on what client need. Well we are basically across the start of the economy yup and we took we tend to tell people that. We're most useful is when there's major changes happening in an economy and industry. Where there's lots of data. For example today Internet of things OK lots of data about where is that and nothing's going to be the winners and losers robotics. Connected health. You get the idea that things that were when he is moving right that's what we can be pulling so who hires. Well well we we actually were from large multi nationals and their first major company engaged with that Qualcomm Nokia. Man like Qualcomm was what Qualcomm if you remember way back before you know Smartphones where this thing. Is they weren't just competing against companies they were competing against continents and countries. The other standard cults TDMA it was competing against the European standard which is yeah and overtime you know they were competing with standards. And ultimately they won you know their standard was adopted but at the time they were trying to assess. What is the competitive position what are the trends across the world. With house seat you maker evolved from two G three cheat for achievement and types of you know wireless communications so that's why companies like Qualcomm. Would be one of our clients PP yup Siemens you get the idea that it's big. These are big money issues that are affecting Wall Street right now and sort talking to major financial institutions hedge funds. About where's the market going and how can make money by sing a little bit early earlier that somebody else so let's talk about Rex. Because the markets trading on breaks right now it. Would would the analytics telling you as a relates to Brecht well. This is our analytics have to be 80% completely on surprising. And so that 80% surprising is that the key issue with financial markets are on the world is worse rocks and that's what I wanna know they talked and I've been time element talk about it for the last month or so the Viet elixir or hurt or to appear OK that's OK yes Brecht that is one of those. Things and caring UK to the center of our world financial resource base okay. The other the other. The other club and our financial radar space ex US economy to. Because that is not certain of where the US economy is news when combined Rex at the US economy. You have the sense look at these with a loose with the world is really worried about the outward that's about China necessary but India there worried about the US where about naproxen okay. The key factor that is that is influencing which way Brooks Mike oh yeah it's really interesting right now periods it's it's all about employment. In total. OK because we were told by a reported that there was immigration it's not immigration or maybe the immigration in the employment tied together. Well it it's that employment is this sometimes a proxy for immigration. The people who are four for staying in the UK and the George Soros is that at all. We'll say that employment is going to be really bad if the UK at least right. They're using it as a club right you know on the stage no need we heard the argument yup. That that's playing in terms its collective knowledge transfer what people writing about it this course. That of course on the other side immigration people were more immigrants and controlled take my job right. You don't know who we're hearing is well known the reason I don't have a job as I lost it to. An immigrant from Eastern Europe so you think about that is that the so okay this this Brooks at the neutrally proxy about about immigration employment issues as you know. So if you can really boil it down to something and in terms of high level fame level conflict that you. You know know how to address okay which way it will perhaps maybe be going. Instead of just asking a poll that are due to stay or do you leave. It might be better pull it for people to say. Do you feel threatened by the current employment situation right or do you feel that the UK having its own economy. More Tommy would be that for an appointment that and I'll betcha that don't know poll had actually asked the question and taunts. Then you're absolutely right and this the first time I've heard it in that. You know dished out in that that what that that's what's what it's all about it's appalling as many times self serving me in the last question wanting to get the answer that they rank consult back to there their benefactors of but it you'd turn around and say okay what is really important appointment in the case of the US the US election right now the top issue is security sure. In my say for an afternoon at San Diego and Orlando that's how I feel don't know that the pointless say it's OQQ. Do you want more immigration most of its that's okay. But to really turn that around to say to light to really wanna feel safer by the US but by the policies are governments in the pro Aussie yes yeah. But of let this but they have to you really have to trust that the key issue is because. People in the end of voting or voting for something that it's very fundamental and oftentimes things security police. And so so it it has been very clear you know what it is the poll attention as. First what the collective we don't view is that which was something its trend earthy. So chuck and I have been worried and investors have been worried about bricks for the last month when we start to worry about on Friday. What's the next big thing is that the presidential election here in the United States possible. Of course I need it is that and I see something from doctor Spiegel that was you know basically rally against prop him up from the from the German point. And so yeah I think it's that sense of stability know it because trump this trump to most people heavily toward analytics is in place stability. That's what's showing on. I'm curious went when you look at the data you've been in business what about ten years or so and aren't doing this so in terms of if you look at long term trends as far as stability and I guess almost looking at cohesion and things like that do you see trends in your data that suggest a greater divide today then you over the last 4810 years. Let absolutely in terms of you know people can go to the the news outlets that information outlets that reinforce what they want. The fact is that you can basically you know by for Kate you know societies you know on what they wanna believe that wanna believe total up to the right to progressive you know what are we want college tour. You can have the sense of reinforcements constantly happening because they can be. By sleep than their picture group mostly in the social networks. And so yes so if you look easily see things being much we're divided but every seen any data that's able to break through debt and all that effective in reaching both sides are now. Well that what ends up happening is data wise no but issue vice yes. You get something that if if you think for today for example that US election that that Hillary Clinton has the women vote locked up. But if they become concerned about the safety of themselves and their children didn't. You know the wouldn't open the game's about noted that something fundamental at that. Jim thank you very much for joining us and privilege I don't know how to our listeners get more information about your company every patterns dot com discovered that it's very good thank you very cool technology we appreciate. It's been a very popular product but more importantly we're really helping small businesses who need to grow and expand their business. There's a lot of uses for the small business loans and give you a couple of examples. So recently helped the restaurant in Cambridge that was doing so well they actually need gates and in this space next to work. We help them local law firm.
