Welcome to sound off on par total on for my cohosts on the field very Nintendo's got a special guests from the recall only warrant for offend. Found officers so they just a veteran perspective on news current events and politics and the reason why we do this is what's the point 5% of the United States population serves in the military. So we try to do our perspective after a certain military ourselves. Johnson Vietnam War are veteran he was his marine he's certain he served as veterans service officer in Natick and new and he's involved with a nonprofit called home of the brave and his The American Legion post 440 commander new and and I served in the army in Afghanistan and I'm involved with. Nonprofit called pensions without orders. So John I don't tonight. Don't record components. Whose usual great to be built our Q where if you win put tickle your but he survived the you lose some conference that he would tell him literally hear the guy. This time in the original words you've become what more more mature. You don't happen to slow you home and watched the Euro sank after excluded pork for a stolen TBM. And fall Lou up what the parade you know. Slow but you know what I was along the trap and the watching the porridge and I know pro would remove soaked would have put. Truly a bold terror and Vietnam vets that much road forward yeah I can tell us that this would have thought we would have more slope. That would put ourselves then we'll talk to warm the bulk we don't know. But I have warm welcome to the show. Dual degree or with the marine squirrelly in we're so proud to have you on on the show. Everything I don't want that fake account John that's always a pleasure show a pervert Perrier are careless. Records show. Would do it well prime. What do they just are passed from Marblehead. And a couple weeks Garden City. Made winter compression down in Virginia. And I went to bring this up just quickly. It at a banquet at the end we had in general. Whitman. Burke Whitman was the guest speaker. And general Whitman's from the frames with Whitman's sampler chocolates. But he pointed out that it. We all know now because it's been publicized Krewell we have our tragedy of the torn through suicide today. Well now the Department of Defense. Is funding research. To find. What perhaps is to root cause of these are treasures suicides. In their. Funny this. Through the department difference in conjunction with the work for the VA is done. And that may sound very simple and of course the doing this but this hasn't been done before the department of protest and I really had. Funding for research with this problem so this is new. This the department difference he's recognizing now that. The reserves are problem they asked me dealt with these are the people. And the even though these. Military people so many of them of our. Transition over the military. This still part of your family. Department to France for him. So word here I was just pleased to hear that they are going to stat. Research in this storm with a beard. It's the planet Santana there's been some research and it's only just brought up more questions. Quality a lot of the general public and in I was even you know fault. Kind of thought it was so related to distrust of deployments and you know everything that people through combat the I know if you look at the numbers there are a lot of veterans that that then deploy urgency combat that are. They're killing themselves while also in his it's not. It's not as simple as to sell inventory Afghans themselves about the chemical themselves for a you know and obviously what we're looking outlaw more than just Iraq and Afghanistan but I think. That the food general narrative has has has kind of been involved. You know it's and so it on the relates to scoop. You were doing. Run employs fruit between sort consumes every wouldn't sue us if we did it for our question about orders from world water day and this past Tuesday on the 22. Guys trying to terrorism awareness and so what we do know all the questions about orders is on. We going to do. Humanitarian. Then write notes that so it's water projects overseas. For every one that we do we. We memorialize. It was veteran that was killed in Iraq and Afghanistan and you know societies and all veterans groups as a way for veterans to get together Anderson stopped the other. You know we can do a little part then you know had a great. We've let me ask if someone to find no more room for mentioned Pope their Kyle probably door because I think that's an old standard tortured them into one hole envision all the folks want to join. You know absolutely and we we just started it's only about a year old what we do was slaves in instructions about orders dot org. And you know how to play on Doctors Without Borders but it veterans were no orders to or and a lot of good stuff on there people can also donated they want to. But quick got changed and talk a little little votes from some things going on in the news. This announcement we talked about it a little bit. Going on control while the the movie patriots day Mark Wahlberg is involved with a John Goodman's going to be an actor and it. It's it's it's gonna highlight everything that happened in the Boston Marathon bombings on an area and on film on solve it and move the Watertown neighborhood. You know will vote for younger brother was apprehended. But the flow I mean announced on an. They had it. They've hiring thing for fractures and all new people shall focus all along those lines but I heard some some complaints people are saying it's too soon. You know that is distinctive to you kind of profiting off of tragedy. But you know like my quick take honors. This is this is and know from Hollywood. Hollywood's been doing whatever thin and into tomorrow won't movies. You know for for me for Iraq and Afghanistan questions at this point in Vietnam movies planet or to movies. You know it can be just as hard firm for a veteran watch those movies and it could be too soon for them. You know. Iraq and Afghanistan you know officially over the past oval and on. Well what we have upon Macon Macon those movies and I feel what you would also say the noticed that the told the story Cha wanna be your your quick take on best professional local local stores. No I have no crime work but I don't put too it's too soon move all of whom you trust them though would trickle from movies what were pretty were pretty would. Detective movie we'll commute and William I'm not real sure what toward the move could put. Certainly. All flow of the country if not all the world problems for Millwood who want to assume I don't put to slow. A memoirs one true for room all it would through a comfortable for more beautiful. Now on outside is just lone survivor fan you know you know I was about Afghanistan and American sniper their bunkers and Roanoke. Expect to be too soon for a lot of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans I think it was too isn't watches movies but I did. You know ultimately think you know they that a good it is walls as closets well represented an accurate. You know it's appointment told stories and I think the biggest fear a lot of losses. You know these things we've forgotten you know is that it's tragic is that they was. You know that was the lessons we learned it was certainly don't wanna ever forget the victims. Interactive look at the movie you bold move peaceable what do you hold true when you might argue we heard. Whose trip we're gonna Colmes forums for plumes shouldn't slow and so forth football was stardom some of whom were gone wild sing and what the Yugoslav wouldn't you polled are you some food. Put children in slow. Mobil's supplement problems and are you are you have no problem with this movie. Now why I don't know what would you say hello this is the I don't think it's two super terrific it is sure if it's done accurately and Patrice everything correctly. It's good to be creates an awareness that all of us have to be aware of what is going norm. Within the world today. We saw this past week we've terrorist bombings over in Brussels. We've seen. Couple months ago we are terrorists. Attack in Paris France. Who would those events be able to reoccur either here in Boston are generally in America I would say yes so girl to make people aware of the world that we live in. Through the media of a movie. I yes it is good it is ongoing it didn't stop it's not like World War II was over now and no word from fort bear what happened. We're living with this today and people should be oh we are now. I don't know. Couldn't just open once we're controller whose womb stardom. The larger group women's items that come hell. A control that it's a tool Rivera and you still see a lot of the military regards from Guidant recent movements. Oh come from below 26 point two models like boom boom for the marathon and but they've had to stop because the communal undercarriage backpacks on that group freedom for security release of insulin neutral small thing but it's at them. A real point of fact funerals. Instead the word the world we live in today. But it's a reality no the people in Israel I guess who Lou for this for a decade to think there will accept this is part of their you know lifestyle you and that is now come to a Mercury no. Years back in the arm and went through were Frasor the problem be. The bombings by the IRA. That they were acutely aware of our activities such ISIS' and for a sweep dismissed it is. Over the air if that's got another world. Well over the end I was right here so we have to be aware. And I thought stuff presents an allegory about a Michelle and the only person that Afghanistan veterans who terrorists some just to see what. Exactly what they did Afghanistan come back here is is so certainly certainly troubling and you know I don't play I told you so game we lose we've been saying is these sort of terrorist attacks where we help them before they did some. Where you know what hopefully books movies but will explore the mine sort of blues some of problems some part what Portland took that now hopefuls tremendously and things will be good for overrun does cause I don't. More final yards and always flown to Reuters notes has been done that is a thin line of them China told story and then and run insurance score fire on the you know how many how many losers looked at the federal and so cover anthologies. This could be my way of being famous and you know it's it's it's kind of a sad state of affairs component certainly sort of reduces. But it's worth studying for sure different. But I guess with the quick break and wanna touch that dial it got some good stuff I don't know you know more coming up and all veteran employment. You Ellison and a sound off from WRKO am six radio voice of Boston. Welcome back to sound off on Coke total alongside John Phil Gramm Warren Griffin. And god John. Don't know if you noticed for the fifth fiftieth anniversary of those Vietnam a war and I know you guys that that they parade of unless you're from north the West Roxbury. No home but this coming week this Tuesday. The Providence VA is going to be holding an event and now we have had the oberg from the director's office. On the line to talk to us a little bit more vote. With the province via will be going. Other welcome to the show. Choose can you give me. If I can all right tunnels have been through a war over it which is probably good for all of its been sold there weren't and I won't just a global bushel. So I thought. Hi had a warrant written there. I know I am very well argue you will resume shouldn't smuggler fool with the Congo whom we will lose come wolverines would come though. All my way John slope. Hold on 12 over you know we looked them we overcome. A separate. Do you love salt not look so so Ozal bootable was the videos put Milan down. I think bell and next Tuesday on March when he thanked I'm from 93 we are putting on a welcome home Vietnam veterans. And then it. They then opens at the clock where people can come in just carry and and look over and we'll have all these different posters in different facts about Vietnam. And then from ten to twelve. We'll have a formal ceremony where we will have. Some speakers we're having up to you know Vietnam veteran to figure by the name of Wayne Smith. And I'm it's if we anticipate going to be an athlete fantastic day. Well at least started the process that we really want to ensure that we did exactly what the Vietnam veteran sort of want to do. So we enlisted our five Vietnam veterans should be on our steering committee and they've really kind of guys ask. How they want our. And then to be in they've been so instrumental and you know. Educating us and making us understand what it was like to come home from Vietnam and to struggle that they had until we have you know five amazing men on this committee. On and it's such an honor and a pleasure to work with them. And so they want and I asked them before. I came on for the immediately what do you want me to say what is it that sound you on the drive home to everybody in that it's that. We want to welcome home our Vietnam veteran and I Vietnam's Arab veterans and that district. And it is open to all veterans and apparently they don't necessarily have to be Vietnam veterans. Men can he decides Providence Boston the Boston DA will be happy there ceremony. On the twenty pension Monday from one to three in Jamaica Plain. In addition to. Far province will also have about Kyle it's one of our representatives. And he'll he'll be able to support the veterans that they want to for the first time. It role in the VA health care most Vietnam veterans are. Unaware that they are eligible for VA healthcare the loss would have I'm an information to. From our state which has hit a Rhode Island we've just adopted new partnerships. With the states so that we work hand in hand together at our outreach event. To ensure that if the VA cannot just a veteran that we were able to get. Assistants at them through the states so where we're gonna try to start showcase in net that partnership and it's gonna start on on. The around the time when he the 29 when we have our a formal event in camp in Leon who is the new director. A veteran affairs for the state of Rhode Island will also be speaking at a aren't eventually you if you look at and meet him in. You know how to get a little understanding what he's doing four of them veterans are states. Will. The it's great to have her back on. At the radio operators to fix my in my headphones insults on deck with a little program there and it could cancel me with a good conscience Jerry I think John don't play them on my headphones. I don't what to do veterans have Darcy peer anything dom in final piece of that before but you know what what what does a veteran to do it's it's it's it's a tiny event. They don't they do not have to aren't BP if they want to they can call up didn't speak. Terry gang I'm mark who's Orr Kathy Boyle Kathleen boy that Boyle works for the TBA regional hospital Providence and Terry king about quarks. The director's office in Providence that the VA hospital they can call them if they have questions. But no they can just show up against it starts at 9 o'clock with a formal ceremony starting at ten. And what will be doing at 10 o'clock the night session speakers is also giving out these special Vietnam more commemorative pins. That was commissioned by the DOT. I'm gave me so we will lab. The giving no documentation and that we have the Providence VA wanted to give something special so that every person who came got to. You know participate really support in our veterans and we made it special. A ribbon pin that. Represented Vietnam. Political campaign ribbon so we will be led will be giving a tax people as well as his and so that we all can shell. And arrow wake up support for Vietnam veterans the support that they didn't necessarily get when they came back home. Fifty years ago. Artist great is they're all website or antenna that there's people's real cannot TI other commissioners sheriff on FaceBook or Twitter. Get our FaceBook page. So if anybody goes says FaceBook and look at the province PA will see MySpace page there and it it has all the information there. You know I'm assuming it's on the pace of pages of the other. GA. It'd be as well it's a national thing NBA used to into the etc. and I Providence and RI is relatively rare event but they're doing it on the austerity itself. Or do were all doing an event in some way shape performance all going to be a little different different tone. I. I think what's unique about products that we weren't we short that we got our Vietnam veteran part two partners with us and mean this event there are only to be exactly what they would want to welcome home. He'll look two quick things number one I think the programs for you do as an outstanding job and you sort of much just ruled Ireland but a lot of sold piece the Massachusetts. So we defeated our from a lot of votes to almost awkward sort of loosely you know bill. Second thing I militants who just spoke with a unified slump yet nom for a T ball with they'd want to have this slope. Are you government in my hardware that boasts. I am Margaret. A moment should you choose Sloan shoots the blue bulls who was social spectrum. A couple of putts I am I'm trying to think what I know the name that I Shuster who beast room and still unfortunately she will not be killing hobby there and I'm not erupt not have a replacement perhaps but I'd be happy that they can and I think with attempting it includes an excuse me they really want to meet him. Didn't Arctic other thing banks offer for all of size or anything else that we should noble person and then from Vietnam veterans know. No I didn't I hope they'll come again on the if they need to that the episcopal phone number two car for the Providence VA its fourth 01. He's 737100. Extension. 2573. Or you need to call the BBA regional office. Speak to Kathleen the numbers for Carol one QG three. 3602. And I encourage everybody to come. And it's and we will have we encourage everyone to use valley parking so that they ensure that they get. Parking spot and now we're really looking forward to having actually fabulous event and we want to welcome everybody to come and we look forward to seeing everyone there. All right thank you so much Heather I tell overt from the director's office at the Providence VA medical signer. So a lot of what do you guys think about that I Laurin no you served in the in the Vietnam War. You know from from slicing to hear me being in Afghanistan bachelor we were taken better team mobile better care of only returned home. And so Heidi how do you feel when you see that the VA's. Nationwide is going to be I have an open houses and in ceremonies were for Vietnam veterans. Well it is outstanding that they do in this I think there were there was there you. Rejection of the veterans against the PA when we first came home. To almost mirror the rejection that the veterans start. By the general Parker Lewis when we first came home. I think those barriers are coming down now. More more veterans so Vietnam will become. Enrollees in the VA health care system which I know John just did mention two ahead of this the bush worked Herbie. Province BA. Facilities very very good repair a lot of feedback from other veterans who are no who've gone there and it's very part of our province. We're fortunate to appear in Boston to have. Both sides to make a plane arm for our turn came Wes Clark spree and veteran. Working with the hostels and are we are we have the best medical facilities. In the world. And they're medical facilities in the Syria feed off and contribute to the VA's here so. We are blessed with duke health care that we have a no other parts of the country caravan of healthcare is not up to where the standards that they should be. Upper Providence is really cut out into the facilities on trucks phone heavens let's. Pretty close cut to 95 to get there aren't on yet they patriots veterans from Rhode Rhode Island. Actual overt eastern Connecticut. An and keep an ounce and solve these masks and that they've got clinics and New Bedford in Hyannis through to oversee. Soldiers at a facility in like. The other side you know they did they do of the valet park and saw that today is that that is a nice and nice little benefit that they have. Tempo up get out my door into the Priscilla no sometimes a packing can be difficult period and darken it difficult for all hospitals and movies though. Different than anything else. Yeah and it's a busy hustle down in Providence in the partnered with brown university and you know at seven floors and then and did they do a whole lot of treatment of veterans. You know at that facility. I know Massachusetts. Vietnam veterans day is much point nine which is a week from. What's on the Tuesday that it from his BA scoring error. Event I don't know if nationwide. Vietnam veterans day varies throughout the country so what order might also be much trying to. Yes. You know how do you think. The Vietnam veterans of I feel about us I mean. Took awhile for from the get the recognition. You know is too too little too later is that is that something that that they truly do appreciate it does point. I think now there's there are grudging appreciation I know it charm I put on the parade back in October. From the West Roxbury VA. And some of the participants. In that parade through Vietnam veterans. Have not taken part in any. Event like that. In forty years since the Vietnam War ended. They came and joined in with this and I made the reception was just very very great and appreciated by the here Vietnam veterans. I'm my thing has always been that Vietnam veterans or appreciate. Until the parsed shoes and I ran were released. Back when Reagan became was sworn in as president. That they're great so this is great if our sisters are being released and it was great that they were being released. But people then begin to reflect fair concern you know we never really appreciate the sacrifices made by the Vietnam veterans and mistreatment of the veterans when we came home from Vietnam. And people's consciousness became. Heightened at that time. And since then. We have been much more appreciative. That since I've never actually heard. The image flawless on some. Global before my time with them those Reagan it's unhelpful to the military. You know and and one of the Cold War saw it maybe. You know that whole dynamic kind of kind of sort of 222. To bring their appreciation back. And what I noticed you know from the Vietnam veterans is is because of their work. You know and I've seen a stickers I'm sure you guys have but the they said. Never again America should veterans not be thanked and treated well and because of the Vietnam elections I think the Afghanistan and Iraq veterans like myself for. We're treated so well you know because I think that you know versions room were a little let down by some of the veterans for them. And then stick up form and I think it's our historical for us. Genesis of that story. Who really respect is shown to the Iraq Afghanistan veterans it's so well deserved. I'd. One of the things that everybody all veterans benefit from now is the recognition of PT EST you know being a problem when veterans come home from war. In any war that they were in they've lost part of this all and they come home. And that recognition just wasn't I given until Vietnam veterans are kept pushing and pushing say there's a problem here. And the same with the Agent Orange and on the our scoring affair of state college and was a small preference group here and we're saying that there's a problem with those chemicals that they were using in Vietnam thing. Asian arms there was agent ring patiently and other colors were very patient on which became the here. Keystone of the researchers being down. But of the government and and the camera sort of from Dow Chemical itself most complete denial that. There are any problems being cause there's. And the victories and had to really push hard for that recognition to. In scientific research come through their friends they had to admit that you're soaking there is a problem. Arts and now are women veterans voiced their concerns about what is going on. In a war zone. That voices. Listen to now. You know all I think the other thing and it kerchief from Ron you guys vote on. I think put Iraq and Afghanistan. We saw so much of counterinsurgency. In guerrilla tactics. You know and then. I'll warn you brought up posttraumatic stress and you know how that makes war fighting different when. The enemy is hiding within the civilian population when they're using women and children you know as there is and things like that. I get the feeling now. And I I think we have a long way cot go as a society took to realize what counterinsurgency isn't you know we're seeing the terrorism and to throughout Europe right now. But on. I I think because of the counterinsurgency that we've seen in Iraq and Afghanistan and actually made us think about what you guys signed Vietnam I think a lot a lot of narrative on Vietnam was that yours fight fighting Charlie in North Korean news. And there was a conventional war. But you just had a conventional war and unconventional war the same exact time well we'll reach a personal story there I don't. It's like Aaron I. Kind of developing opinion in my but I think that you know are seen as an LADs like we did buy it. It's it's become more mainstream for people realize that there are suicide bombers and and roadside bombs in and things of that nature. And similar to you know a lot of the tactics of Taliban. Al-Qaeda took reps from from Vietnam. Well I know the New Year's bear watching now programs like sixty minutes they would focus on the school so the terrorist. Over in the Middle East and and they were showing our kids 67 years old. Being indoctrinated in the site hero for sacrificing yourself for the ridiculously. And basically schools are in place well that was ten years ago so. Ten or fifteen years or so now these little boys and girls that we're going to school for. Now ten or fifteen years and that is just part of their culture we have our culture we have our we've stood we strongly believe it. Well unfortunately this suicide bombing it is part of this. Terrorist culture it's just in dark fraternity in so by the time it's funny. It just becomes. Part of their lifestyle that yes I will circle for Microsoft. For the greeting current and you know post and we saw it done in Brussels. With the terrorist attack prepared this week. I've actually well I'm a brother was read some books on Vietnam iris had this this perception out there. You know scuttle Forrest Gump response perception out it was more of a conventional. Warfare enemy and on. But I was reading books about how they're they were Reagan. Landing zones and in and all that sort of stuff on. You know would would land mines and and you walk into those go to rice paddies and and getting now like you know that one nice pop part to stop then. And our eyes I've I feel like those. Does the public in general missiles and understand that the counterinsurgency and and due to guerrilla tactics. You know our soldiers and our our veterans are certainly from there was. On up when we let alone will take a quick break. He'll listen to sound off from the New York and succeed. Welcome back. Who sees the world according to John Henry segment. Would discuss gum fruits and services for veterans and their freedom slump. Today you don't wanna take to win them tool to discuss slow. Medical benefits that are available until we've provisions of Massachusetts. General was trumped the 115. Put call normal fills a poor groom to help the votes them in the wrote fear and winds of urine some global financial. Difficulty. The cease particularly good for bulls wore on fixed income slow but we can hope. Veterans slow spot also supplies principles and so veterans. To a trained medical benefits but typically you would can help them. Would do. I hope the insurance premiums. Toward prescriptions. Coal payments too dark to lose. Health insurance. Myriad of different benefits. Whom if you are unemployed and not working news sort of million and you wind up puts a medical needs do soar we some hope that would be of real bowl we're. I would suggest that you go to your local city New York town hall and Colin turn the veterans service offers sober and that is the word according to John talked to next week. Welcome back to sound off from Kyle total on such on the go over in Warren Griffin. If you want to reach out to the show please let us know weren. Email sound off on the Bjork Mayo at gmail.com. And on FaceBook and Twitter sound off on. W curtail. So that's where switch gears a little bit to have a good segment about Vietnam and some of the things that the views to America as you know veterans. Wanna switch gears talk about such unemployment over. On the on the line we have brought art from a recruit military and they have. Fix fair short stay in have a couple times a year big big veteran on hiring fair. The next few times you know it's pretty good excuse to us in the field. The patriots and you know I guess the revolution to Obama will look more concerned with the patriots are. But so we have we have rob on the line rob Walters show. You very much continuity. Morn solo. What we're when you when you as the women's this. Employment there. Yep so that's what are going to be going April 7 so that will be BS seventeenth event that we tell the Gillette Stadium and it's definitely got exponentially growing for us so. It's going to be on April 7 from 11 o'clock at 3 o'clock in the open to anyone who served any veteran city current service members transitioning and also lot the doors are open to thousands as well. Not a credible what what sort of employers are there on our live look and hire people on the spot what will look and eventually expect. Yeah so so there are a lot of employers are going to be hiring on the spot with us would recruit military we. We. We referred art that opportunity Expos and sort of just the typical career stairs so literally thought pattern is looking to start their own business or opportunities do that. There's opportunity to work with small local companies there's op opportunity to work with fortune 200 to continue their education it's happened to read sources such that BA. Vocal rehab program other nocturnal real type programs so literally a little bit everything for every one. It's great so you know sometimes you see a lot of like blue collar just all. You know but. Police and law enforcement type trousers so we expect all sort of blue collar and white collar jobs. Oh absolutely hated. Blake gets a little bit everything for everyone I mean we have companies are hiring entry level hands on type position we also have those that are looking for hiring executives. They know the different intangibles skill sets and what not to come from folks that that's separate from the military and are looking to tap into those leadership qualities and you know that he did this skill set that it came in pretty soft skills that veterans are what you all want to bring to the table. That's great you have to have you guys seen you know what he said it was the seventeenth time going to be open it up to a lot of or a Massachusetts. Oh yes it's your lead seventeen to bet is that we've been growing more more force were expecting how close to a hundred exhibitors for this event coming up here a couple weeks. So I consume Molly you know under in the past sixteen times as their man of don't know a lot of opportunities for veterans and in. Have you heard some some good good sores or factions have been hired because of the saloon. Yep participants specifically so we're averaging a little over a 120 tires per bag and so this is we're we're doing surveying and what not only employers is what was the bet that attend. After the fact that the smoke clears and finding out how many Atlanta unemployment opportunities. Also how many Hamid. Opening bit that these employers tend to feel from from the position and so the other thing we're doing on site is taking it step past the typical career fair at its. Had like you know awkward. Middle school dance scenario most what he didn't pay and employers on opposite sides of the table kind of have an awkward out setup there. Or we knew we are actually working onsite as matchmaker so for that walks in the door and have a background in. HR IT security were making sure that they meet with the right folks that day on top of that we're sitting down with the employers. Finding out what they're looking to fill what they're hoping walks in the door and then making you know how well connections throughout the offense so it's it's really exciting Condit to take that opportunity to a network with other veterans ourselves. And into our nature that were changed in many black is possible that one day. That's great phone should veterans are showing up to this Lou what suits on with with -- amazing Carl letters are. How should I should voucher approach they want. Yep this'll be employers we we do agree chop on educating them in in showing a wide veterans are are the best. How pull out there to fish farms so what we recommend doing is. If you go to recruit military dot com forward slash Boston. It's going to give you a list of all the exhibitors that are there are so you're applying for Java me dressed to impress or that it's going to be very competitive as you know you know military post while competing against each other when we're in. It's kind of the same setting where you you're trying to dress to impress or recommend wearing a suit. Bring about forty copies of your resonate on top of that makes you checking out the exhibitors that are that are are registered via the event. Do your research on him find the position that. That that match what you're trying to do career wise also I recommend focusing on. Finding out you know. Getting into a career path that you wanna expand on not just finding a job that you're gonna be happy and for three months and paying the bills and then you're up to something else part of something that bid is really the trap you walk down a noble noble do all we can't on our side to help you. To connect the dots need to shall be event. It oh John we don't forget a one Bruno also Q and on the commercial social we have outstanding November the seventeenth time he'd done it what a court of four dorm that. But I was wondering do you want to rule anything in between the fears that we would to a vote. And Donald to look career counseling with veterans or help them pro former and to view slowing slip that. We do so are one of the things that I do I'm I'm the only member of Duluth recruit military stately get here in the local area. So what I do is we do a lot of clear boot camps and things like that I know the also have a lot of local partners who were with the EH ER allotment for a weekend so any opportunity that I have to get in front of bets and you'll hopefully be resource to them anymore were more than happy to do so for this event I mean it is an awesome event but we're here twice a year. It's alleged beating we could we do one in September in one in April but in between there were doing all we can. Got to make that local impact. On top of that we can't be career site it's the largest most effective military career page out there on the net right now also ease any. Any veterans or spouses or those transitioning that are looking for Earth Day you don't maybe they missed the event. Or don't wanna wait until the next one and September we have about 300000 jobs that are specifically for that I'll recruit military dot com. All of our services are 100% free to anyone who has served as well they're their husbands and wives. So we always do is log on literally create a profile and in their tapped into that employment portal immediately. You can put told students freedom rebels and troops for room for a slip some reason. Get in we work with about we had the opportunity of working with about 20000 different companies nationwide so whether they're looking for small local. Position worked with a another small business sort of you know get into fortune 200 powerhouse team work could literally everyone. That's Austin Warren Griffin here rob thank you so much for coming on and I'm. The latest no but this event. It is a former retired middle schoolteacher in industry in Europe analogy to the the dance programs. And had. What we have found with the Marine Corps leaves them with the Marines have. A program called marine for life. And we work closely with the Marine Corps itself. And we found now that where it's going to be starting an executive. Detachment. Because some of the officers who are going to be transition now. Now don't know what to do once they've completed their military. Service and would target phone firm colonels and generals. That they've done a great job in the military. But now they're about 45. And their life is known for and they wanna make history interest in transition into the public sector. Other private sector. And which aren't to set up a program. So that they would be a skills from. Made available to the I guess your fortune 200 companies so I'm glad to see that you are looking for. Transition. Of all levels of military. Yes definitely in this is that one of the one that we do appear mean to 103. Offense so we doing over the next twelve months so even if they're separating out not necessarily come back to New England. Or they're going anywhere else in the country and our resources are there available for them as well we will have a lot of companies are looking for those you know up higher and if it executive and field grade officers that are out there as well also. You know literally it's only a few mouse clicks and if you typed words well away from them find their next our great opportunity when they transition now in in this is also. There are a lot of services out there indicator to to the officers specifically a lot of those GMO contingency recruitment firms. But without and we literally opened our doors to everyone that they did four years from him listed China got powder 25 years sit on on the officer's side got around everyone in between. Excellent. We will some one thing I have become more aware of in the bars them here we are great bars from the area. Lenovo. You launch number roomful of veterans of 200 colleges and that in due to read chilled to bottom to what tumble of the extra confidence. We get. Only do so one of the things that I do personally vocal lot a lot of these colleges or work with the US student veterans associations and you know and what not come out and talk with the student that's very in. In the campuses specifically because a lot of them are attending school first time error full time in in utilizing new GI bill and their benefits to do so. But they're looking to reconnect her afterwards so what what what are usually target with Dennis finding we work a lot of great companies that are looking for. Either evening errors you know wait makeshift type worker second shift work. Where they can he gain. Hands on experience in a field while it's still going to school in and transition and that that schooling and that. And their hands on experience into the corner papadore looking to do so. We were a lot of employers are targeting these folks specifically because. They need great people working in those different ships are the regular nine to five and as that to mean my helping a fourteen year marine I mean there's been some some those dictatorships that I've worked and I I've been more than happy to work them. So. And you know that vets for any company looking for a good workers. The veteran population especially the I Iraq Afghanistan veterans of today. Yard picking the cream of the crop to our common work for you. The experience have had for the military is outstanding but before without. Getting into the military now is so selective that it the people were eligible to join the military today. Is a very small percentage cherry picking the cream of the crop of the younger generation. Then you are training them within the military. I've been there I transition out so what you have this just in outstanding candidate for any kind of chart that's coming up with these. People basically have already been vetted in life. That you're getting the cream of the crop. I agree 100% on that and the other thing is with these folks see you know we we don't have a draft heard it it's not. In voluntary military service future earth poked it's stepped up to the plate as I need a wartime environment and a lot of other folks were were afraid to do so. They're gonna gonna still have that same mentality and it's not have to have grown their personal trait in their harmonies in the military or whatever fresh face Serb and so. A lot of employers who work with nauert just things simple things like act if he's somebody special to work on time which stuff is better and we. That that's the simple concept blossomed when marketing marks you layer you know we're we're going to be there and we need to be put it that's seems to be. Don't those common not courtesies and what not to work in the workplace years and years ago or are still very prevalent in the military but not so much without general society from what we've we've noticed public employers as well what we see firsthand. And he's you know he's here and in a time out and recruit military. Sure at some point point. Well rob what should if there's an employer listening right now or someone hours for purposes then and they wanna get in tapped into this what were they need to do is just a time for them again at the fair. You know how can they tell peninsula. The veterinary. A great question we we we. We still have space available like you give all the details for our acting out. If they wanna contact me directly you know we see different Promos keep things that are going on right now for the Expos specifically. Also there's really that's that are listening in Iraq I have a complete open door policy and always will it help out another bet you do all that I can't you know how to make it. The next career transition there and help them anyway that I can't and so if anyone wants to get all the meat specifically I can be reached via email it is our aren't just. It is our ER and DID. Act recruit military and dot com. Or can be reached via phone at 6178418000. In like that so that they wanted to di tale auditor just see which. Which exhibitors and whatnot are actually out there at the pantry and the companies that they want if you can hear their competitors or you know any of their. You know partner companies are out there as well they can just go to recruit military dot com forward slash Boston to get albeit. To get all the details on the event. That is very rather as everything else on the that there was Jewish and noble. No literally mean that the doors are open have specifically yet there. Doors are open bar chart at 11 o'clock we'll do kick off speech and everything in the words there till 3 o'clock but there's still exhibitors there it still. Candidates walking around who were not going to be the ones who stand in the way of that so I would recommend registering beforehand also. There's a lot of changes out there and in the unemployment rate captured Eagles CPP in the Department of Labor didn't have anyone who's a contractor or a certain eight government contractor needs to apply online I can. So I would recommend thinking that every company out there it is big government contractor just being in that mindset. And applying for the job on the line of pretty not that confirmation page that we when the patch a lot they can have a meaningful conversation with a recruiter rather than just being deflected to web site because that is what is going to happen a lot of decent time because of the weight employment law is now. But they can sidestep this by applying online doing their due diligence and in in doing their homework and recalled before it edgy shall to be bad for highly encourage everyone to register beforehand and and you know set themselves up for success. That that's great piece of vice wrote a really appreciate. Everything that they are Jon and you just upload that date and you know obviously the locations at Gillette Stadium but that's the part number club right. Correct it's right behind Toby Keith and everything merit without teacher plays free parking. Shortly it said doors open up middle middle left on the clock sharper fall via the veterans coming through all be there are excited about 7 o'clock in the morning just make sure all the exhibitors are set up in. And talk with the employers and finding out what they're going to be looking for that date that we VG you know make it any successful for everyone as possible. Gloria and that's Thursday. April 7 coming helpful. So lots you know thank you so much rougher for been on the show and everything. Recruit military is stolen you to get our veterans veterans on jobs and hired. Not my my great pleasure gentlemen of tiger ever beer resource to you know police on a city give a shout valuable my contact info and it'll warn John straight talk with you to her. Craig around a bunch of guys with some poke fired several programme amplified gentlemen have a greater thanks to Ito. So go to John Warren Moon. You know bit based off for you guys do for use and run until lot of veterans of confirm employment. You know what will we see out there. Well you don't. Are always fun and people what war control employment you know and put a lot of times when people come soon either real William. Tough situations. You know ordinances of veterans are episode reward them for help for me and she was trying to keep their homes to assume that a lot of that. Is predicated upon them covered picture ups or. Yeah but there are 21 come. Though and I'm the first time there was Dutch arm porno was hired gun no the unemployment rates of over there Russell the society. We're kind of changed a little bit this tunnel programs and what income before Warren made a good point bold pro war and today it's more the draft of spoon. For him people in the Bibby you recruit them they have to pass of the bet a better review for actually comes together and I mean you'll have to beat. An educator of the individual poster from the military today and then once they get someone would rather have them and Troy and I'm open. They demonstrate to support them do all of them issued to an average countries would become. For an audible. Tool for any company. But rob says. 9% of success is showing up duke. And there's a lot of very. Feeling today is well I'll work Monday two's event thick armor take Wednesday off. Are fright commanded to our 8 o'clock and says some thirty were supposed to you can go right. But. The people would come and have a military that's not their Richmond. If this supposed to be there are 730. Bill being here quarter past seven. They will show up all fired days or six days whatever. Went to the employment news are in need to have this real cream of the crop that. First it's been allowed to join the military. Because as the number of people who weren would have tried to join the military. And you don't measure rock. When they don't measure up turn our backs are trying but. You don't rich reference cheats these so these veterans that are covering today. I just outstanding individuals that they are any company would be fortunate to real time. Warren review its way to hold them in Foxboro because tool belt which are excellent you know you're a woman who he wants you out of me do you probably yeah regarding its beforehand and the reason for the success that they've had over the years. I did on a few times and it a people like over 500 veterans on throughout and it's it's it's amazing potential of Velika. All but you know I was talking all the folks on the other veterans. That the trip to book tens of if not hundreds of thousands dollars and vote department offense puts into training their soldiers and nominee people conservative voters think about what basic training is like. You know how many people gone away for nine to twelve week you know and job training seminar if you could cause. But you know I talked to claim that you think you know. On this say that there infantry or something and Alcoa doesn't translate on to civilian sector analysts here you know I was a sharpshooter. But I you know I and are hopeful my progress from players and and other people's but yet you you've. You've gone small unit training or large unit training you've been in charge of vocal tone. Italian popular reverend. You've been responsible for how many tens or hundreds of thousands those with the equipment and and completely accountable for it. And I'll sort things are completely transfer rule to civilian section just ecological apple don't put too went through the other sometimes. Well the military put their trust in all of its military personnel like he served with the equipment. With. Trained and disciplined a large numbers of people. And so when they transition and other military. They have those ghost of that the commercial for work you can trust them and are going to be. Putting all your equipment disrepair so any company that has the again it perhaps an entry level position. I you'll foreign that these people will accept the entry level position. And then move up very quickly through your system is a friend in my and it does have big chart with Hewlett-Packard's New Hampshire. His son graduated from Providence college and went into the military he's with the tenth mountain division right now. He says some of the people that. Hewlett-Packard. So our house our looks just from doing so it's always in the army as a Kaplan mountains. Polish to vet. And that reaction just is a disgrace and I sit. Well that's the salute was the U when you feel silly pass in the Marines limited would you hire any of the other people always working with the sit in a heartbeat said these people so well trained to secure Packwood benefit. Enormously by having them in there. We don't wanna I wanna open slumped carrion Warren that our new control while backwards that. You have to beautiful would translate military jargon into civilian speaks Holbrooke they concede. That there was a relationship. Between what you do in the military to what you're good and civilian life too slick I'll slip through way to put. Part of what was translating that language social morals per compute discharge reward of up to look at it and say you always see what. But there are programs now available to our computer program loans available to make that large transition while Europe people coming outward. Also have because we are up and up for it for the show tonight.
