Hi everybody welcome to the financial. Exchanges early this morning can carry and we got news of a flight disaster in France I don't know if you have any more details than were available early this morning. 144 people passengers on board six crewmembers. It left from Barcelona it was headed to Dusseldorf in. Germany there were very few French on board it's primarily Germans. Some Turks. And the plane. Any Americans that we no know now of the plane. The last. That they heard from the pilot was emergency emergency. It and the plane. I dropped in its altitude from 38000. Feet to 24. Thousand within just a matter of minutes. And then that was it. It landed in the Alps in the Alps it's an area that is desolate and very very difficult to get to they can only get there on foot. And they do not anticipate there in the survivors but they're trying to get there. They're not rule that the plaintiff in the year for 44 minutes I believe it was a 46 minutes. And there's no reports of whether or issues or any other issues. So. They are not ruling out the fact that this could very possibly be. Terrorism Boca. Tonight they they know no reason to believe it is but no reasonably good isn't it is that that's that's exam that's a good way to put it very. First major accident in France since 1981. Worst disaster since 1980 to figure Abbas. You know and run by Lufthansa. And it just a very you know a lot of Spaniards languages very very sadly it's a big vacation time. And that would be route that would be related to vacate when it now. So I'll just have really unfortunate situation some guard and if we. Get more details of course we'll make sure readily available to you. We were also trying to find the story from Boston dot Thomas or at least Olympics David. I actually had this not immediately have an idea so what's happened this is this morning on the chairman of Boston 20/20 four. An ounce of that group has a new position when it comes. Chewed the idea of think of any referendum. Vote they have decided that they are going to endorse a statewide referendum. To decide whether or not they should move forward with this it. So of John fish making an announcement for owner of the chamber of commerce in Boston. It would be on the ballot on November 2016. During the presidential election. So laughter said that he spoke with the governor and Marty Walsh on Monday night. And the referendum endorsement comes the day after they said that they. But not submit that the committee. I committed to not submitting needed and if people. Saying that they don't want Garza came a day after. He let's talk NFL. National Football League in they're gonna be putting he'd tell a football game. On web TV only but that's not relieve the whole story. Now it's not mean that that is part of the story they came out of this winter meetings against right that are going on as or their audience is coming out. And dumb if they did announce that October the 25 that game between buffalo and the jetliners. That's Jacksonville which will be played in London will be broadcast only on the Internet. At that. In those two counts and it will start at 9:30 in the morning. And the reason that it's being played at that hour is because that will be prime time in China. And they want the Chinese exposed to American Papa can you imagine if the sun. China but the popular China market of one point three billion people. Like the NFL and make him a dough right now aren't new to basketball. Arena you've got. You know and NBA players go to China. To play when their careers are winding down there they're not quick enough right BA. Under the NFL's rookie China. And you know as that was the whole thought process behind. Going to Europe treasure these he wanted an elder your and they had an in your number what five or six years like they never seems to take off. Anywhere else. Quite the way it's launched here in the United States true. True I so it'll be on the way add. But if you live in Jacksonville where you live in buffalo to a Stabile but watch it on local television but bird junkie like gave colony. If he wants to watch it on DirecTV and his NFL Sunday ticket it will be fair rate and you would be watching buffalo in Jackson probably a hot game a lot trading after not a heat and any. CEY. Is them what what a test pilot run that is the jaguars are involved yes and it's ridiculous. And the battle until back at those epic is actually pretty adamant beat someone public tender it's that crappy game but they haven't announced the partner yet that is going to be a bidding war that one game probably rate right and then they won't do anything regardless until probably the next set. Of discussions for contract which it's probably long long time sure there'd be just renegotiated TV deals than they sort talking. Minimum five years I would think it. And it they'll dropping their TV blackout. Right to longstanding rules that Indy hometowns. Of the risk of that pay team. So let's say they're playing down at Foxboro if it's not sold out than we would not seen that game here locally. But they're dropping so which by the way last season there and we were sold out every game and the season to fourth and was like two games. But I'm otherwise they are we the patriots. React and Jackie them back to the jaguars to their fans watch any of their games last year probably no probably not. It's only taken now that they did and now. They'll get to see a mall now I've seen the value of CNN and other markets though that that's where you don't remember it was like here in the sky. Can I be honest with you I totally forgot that that was a rule because when have we not seen patriots now a tight back in the early ninety's our teams. Remember. It be. Fair because. Nobody in 1992 days to record it patriots record 1980 to nineteen that are fair off turn. Arm I'd I was also I don't media and I think it's funny when you watch a game and no one's there are so it. What do you guys think. This is it's he is in Portland poverty retires he b.s so you see that Bruins painters union and I. It was all Bruins it's. I'll what was there which wasn't a lot and they sold the most tickets in anticipation of the Bruins coming to town. It's just. NFL rule change. The they're going you know but he knew it two point conversion. Right now that goes off from the two year rate. Rumor has. Actors to hear and aficionados. Opinion on this the potential rule changes to move it from the two yard line to the one yard so Tom Brady has its new movie news. Almost become an automatic point to what. I don't like public where's. I did to him I'm not much I think it has to be a bit of a challenge because you get two points and obviously you're doing it for. You're looking for two point serious situation where you need it fits on the one yard line you can guarantee Marsha on the just gonna get the ball every single time. I and I guarantee that. Yeah I mean I don't like that so much in fact if if anything I think could be chemical they moved out one. And on the theory makes it real fast. The problem with the extra point but normally that's another thing you know they talked about bringing in Google+ because that's so. But most of the two point conversions today passing place. Well. Does that sound but it's that's right one for Iceland are pretty close ones I've seen night I remembered that has been to this would nature running. Always right and then the defense is there that's acted. Like it to. Go work. Football legend Joseph Montana making a comeback but not the type thing. He's a launching Z. Fund start up investment fund fees and extra 25 million dollars in two which makes it released small investments. 25 million dollars. The fund will be called liquid to and it's an opportunistic on with no specific area of focus Montana said. It's seeks taking focus on its own down the road he said it. He hopes the paperwork done by this week. The size of the fund indicates it will be likely focus on seed stage investments now. You might say to yourself thought about ten it was a pretty good quarterback and he was. Almost as news talk very. Montana says he's interest it invested in interest on three different occasions Dropbox twice. And other large start ups like core OS and the pass of the guys made some pretty good investment that would suggest 'cause he made some good decisions in the pocket years ago and we now we announced that it has to be okay with the fact of as sort of a million we are north gonna go to yet but just give me your money. The ice probably his Monday start. Of the he seating. 20/20 five million dollars. But it's a life you know and Jardine Nazis Joseph Montana are really having an opinion on interest. Well that's anyway B Tom Brady when he retires I guarantee him. Tom Brady retires in five years after he retires he start to fund David of the person. What would be the first investor. Tie it Tom Brady can have your acumen. Invested money out of a David and be their number one. It really talking to Lee months old he's a defense reporter Politico he's our next interview would lead. I think we're talking to him about the fact that. Came on the Wall Street Journal today that Israel has been spying on the Iranian nuclear talks have been going on with the US. It's why according to the Wall Street Journal. On Netanyahu knew so much about what was going on and the reasoning behind him spying is what's kind of interesting. We'll talk about that next our text number is 68680. Breaking financial news is the financial exchange with the very Armstrong and Jim Kerrigan. On the financial exchange radio network. And a lot hermit questioning talent with your legally change quick tip of the day. Today we're talking about last minute cleaning techniques for the procrastinate or they can help seed your assets if someone goes in to a nursing. Todd can anything be done to save the liquid assets of an unmarried individual. Yes there are some things now remember it's never as good as as advance planning but it's better than losing all the money and that's really the goal. In order for an individual who single to get on Medicaid. They have to have less than 2000 dollars and often times they won't they'll have you know few hundred pounds and if that they saved over their lifetime. Well that bucket of money is there the individual would then have to. Purchased one of these Medicaid annuities and please let me just for a lot of reminder. That these annuities cannot be purchased prior to someone going into the nursing home case so don't let somebody tell you that they can you make an annuity today. It's a last minute planting technique. And once you buy this annuity lets me take two or 300000 dollars up excess assets. And purchase the annuity that goes access assets are converted to an income stream so value and less than half less then 2000 dollars of assets. Because now. Big chunk of mass that has now paying out and incomes and a monthly check you'll receive. Over your life expectancy whatever your life expectancy is that's the term of the annuity. The moment you buy that annuity you're now eligible for Medicaid annual stretch out the money make it last. Lot longer folks if you are single warm married in their feast with a nursing homes de veer is something that can be done to save your assets last minute that you need some guidance. Collar office right now for the brain a guy from Cushing and Dolan cleaning for procrastinators. 8668485699. At 8668485699. Aaron Tim Miller financial exchange on FaceBook. Please go dot com slash financial exchange this is the financial exchange radio network and. Talk Mac ever wanted to financial exchange great to have you with us on this Tuesday morning. We were telling you before we went to the break about a story coming on the Wall Street Journal this morning about Israel's spying on the Iranian nuclear talks with the US and wiwa. Delve into that just a little more deeply. Leave Montel is joining us she's defense reporter Politico lead thanks for joining us. Should we should be surprised that Israel would be spying on the United States and allies like Israel. Will if you're actually denying their report they think they're getting need nations from other rule is firing on arrow on it out. And our allies and maybe aren't. I'm so. Bristol and figuring out what they actually arguing that the Fed. And the official was quoted in the story. And it ancient yeah because greatness that we even got out. Because they're intercepts at least made between Israelis are. And it and that as a in this story US official act that there's a difference between the US Israel by other. And you know using the information that they got. To undermine the administration that and then the administration's. Nuclear talks that there are. But it's leaking that information should congress. Which is what error these are the quoted. Story again unnamed national. That or they're using Israel are doing good so that's kind of what the big. Right so essentially you're saying is real learned of this this is according to this official by spying on Israel. We learned that they were spying on Haas according to this that this individual and the reason behind it was two weeks some of this information. Now oh. When Netanyahu came to congress he did have information that was somewhat surprising to the administration. Yet an end dot regular cars in trauma aren't as well as knowing what it he talks out. On elks there's some statistics. Environments in the story. That. It is such as the number centrifuges that are are making it would keep operating. As Carter I don't feel that kind of a cheer US officials as there have more information and I'm there and say well. Leap from what you know is this an on going policy this kind of spying on an app on an ally go to school one regularly a war. Is this reflective of the prime minister and the president's relationship. You know that the course insist on ecstatic that are regularly are. But not necessarily the closest allies in Israel and its allies but again there's a lot struck between. It's negotiation and they're Netanyahu administration is technically and sell especially surrounding this is our spirit is our nuclear deal. There's a lot of you can admit stressed he won't nation Kirk aren't surprised. That there would be from that line going on. Unit on entry and it and it you know at a higher level like Iran talk though. Agassi aliens is it happened. You'd been like that might be a rant peppers in the back. I'm partially because of the timing it partially because Egypt negotiations it'll. So will these talks continue in a different way as a result of what we've learned. You know I get a lot of that injury is classified in the unit is is it Arie and got the he he. You know it's an expert ticket. So based it alert in court in Israel are and other ally is crying comes in a court at the current. So we don't know. Now we get some of them. And they're they're still working out and it is not very well or any other Il. They're a client or limiting and and their anger and a lot of willingness. You know our art our our unique than necessary. And actions to come to repeal vote so it still. Illegally. Are. And that deadline is next week. Marks the 31. Art. Well it's it's very interesting. Thank you very much for your insight we appreciate me. I think for. I think he'd be naive to ever believed. That allies are not spying on one another a regular basis. And I think we also beat naive not to think that. This is reflective of the ongoing dispute between these two administrations I mean I. I think that. I think the relationship that Netanyahu has with the president used. Is ditch here it's it's going to deteriorate what has been a long time close ally now and I think it'll take a long time to rebuild some of that trust especially the democratic. It's into office. After he's gone you have to wonder what is Hillary Clinton's relationship right like with. I don't know what it is either I didn't I didn't realize I mean I think it only really came to light in the last year year and a half just how bad this relationship is between the two of them. Waits it is not go there. So it wouldn't be surprising if Israel wouldn't trust what was going on behind closed doors in these talks and we know that Netanyahu feels very strongly about what is going on there. So it's certainly would be surprising if they're responding. I think is very difficult to put yourself in and Israelis. Perspective and unity DDR. In the middle of it I just imagine being it's like being an island in the middle of an area of the world where people everybody hates you up right. You've you know they they catch attempted suicide bombers on a regular basis say so much that's going on in Israel. That we have no. No way of understanding because we don't live it that's right it is nowhere in the United States. The only people that can really give you a perspective on it would be Pete Americans who have visited. Israel and then they'll come back and say well this is how it really is an evil people off their for a period of time you know if you went over to study early so they like that. Very it's okay so counter to the way we live here in the United States and I think pretty easy it's impossible for us to. When it first have a perspective where it's fun is if you've ever had a chance or talked to a kid that's gone of their study for a year to. That you learn a lot you do. You do I actually was interviewing some kids who were of their last summer. And you were there win net win some of their you know when the palace still in these. College kids college since may and they went over with a group. And they literally landed. Which of their first hotel effect these kids to school wants it to me what to Brandeis and down by the end it by sundown. They gave administration college called back. And I interviewed these kids in and I ended the when the teachers were the sponsors who was with them and asked them if they felt uncomfortable. Two or three times they had to put a bomb shelters in a 24 hours that they program. And they said what was amazing about it was that the people around and they were taking their cues from the people around the and it's it's everyday life. Give their siren goes off you walked out of the bomb shelter he sat there for ten minutes come back out to go on about your business. You know so they were they were alarmed but the people around them was that was just everyday life so you're absolutely right about that I think we at any cents. Of we don't we have no concept of what that. All right when we come back we're going to be talking about the Joker so cards are Naia that's our next topic on the financial. This Barry Armstrong and I'm joined today by state planning attorney toddler from law firm Cushing in dole in its time for your legal exchange quick tip of the day. We're talking today. About the different ways that you can only real state and taught I wanted to ask you this one. What are the implications of transfer your home. See just take your home yet and you give it to your children in order to protect it from the nursing my ex he had somebody asked me yesterday sixty years old. In the heard about this thing transferring using only missed here. Kind of makes my teeth itch. Really you know app putting your kid's name on anything while you're living is frightening with or without the light the state so your question was interesting it was. At least using a light the state does provide the parent the right to live there that some protection night. I feel better about that. But I really don't like having the children's name. On any property. For the following reasons one when you do that it's a completed gift to you've lost all control over your order anymore. I worry about if the kids go through divorce an ex son in law the ex daughter and when your like. Number three is it you know Ali you know I don't you've now subjected manager just said Barry took their creditors and does that. Necessarily have to be divorced does it could be a lawsuit business failure and could be any creditor so the other basically that creditor has the ability to get the ascent to pay them back which means you lose your home I certainly don't like that idea not to mention there's also a tremendous amount of tax problems associated with doing that so don't don't do that. When I would like to know is the headline reads the Boston bombers defense team just scored a big wean in court and what's this all. Well you know I've. We said this all along the argument in court is not whether or not he was involved in the bombing and we all know he's guilty of being involved what their tree and I finish yeah. What they're trying to do is make the determination as to whether he should be put to death. And what the defense is trying to do is to prove that he was brain washed and bullied by his brother and to get involved in this and the prosecution's spent about a day and a half for two days teen staking days with these experts. On the stand talking about how they went into all of these electronic devices. And how they found and retrieved information about these radical. Muslim. Web sites. And what the defense came out of some of these guys with yesterday was how can you prove that he read those at that he's the one who download those on there. And I guess it must have been very heated and very loud and down. It was sort of the defense's first opportunity. To start down the path. That they plan to pursue which is. This kid was bullied in this kid was forced into this and you have no proof that he was the one his brother had access to all these kinds of things. Interesting call out at WBUR did you see that. Tell me about it because this one. I find actually trouble. Yeah well you know high got to tell you I think we all knew that if you were gonna when they search and changes of venue I thought to myself for you crazy because there's no place. If he could possibly get them the death penalty in new. More rattle even here in the Boston area so. Anyway this new poll is out and wanting what kind of visibility Utah. A little burial on Twitter yeah. Barry G Armstrong. Is the financial exchange radio network bit. Recreational. Legal marijuana. Is causing venture capitalists and investors to take a I don't know take point and pay attention we're joined by Jeff Cox from CNBC. It talked to us about recreational marijuana it's getting some big money attraction I Jeff Oreo. Hey party very you don't. Hardy on I I was somewhat surprised by the it the way to all of a sudden recreational marijuana. Is is taking rooted in you're giving it you know it almost seems as if all regions of the country are gonna have at least one state. Where recreational marijuana is readily available. Is that a fair statement. Yeah I mean it it appears that way and of course that's stuff generates money according to a study this week from converge X brokerages here in New York that looks and all kinds of odd ball trends in the market just try to find you know different investing opportunities in different trends. They believe that there are pretty much a bit. Is that marijuana business just in Colorado is going to have the Dalai UH no more than a billion dollars. This year so I mean that's quite a big number and it's attracted some big money from me a private equity for the venture capital side rather. In so far it has been limited to private investment right they like I was looking in I was get these questions I'm sure you do too Jeff. People email you and say want to get about buying this penny stock it's deep it's a marijuana company. Should I get invested in night I've I'd haven't found anything worth investing in through the public markets have you. No and I think we're probably still a ways away from that but yes these companies are are have been you know that this isn't just you know I don't out mystery panhandling for money I mean you know private tour holdings is probably in June that the highest profile case of this. These reports background in November or so that pierce he'll actually put some. So Miami you know appears pretty big name in the and ended in the venture capital thanks so key. It is firm's founders fund put a pretty good investment in and to buy into this company are basically three separate part ventures and couple other ones that have been perhaps it is to social network on a lot of apps out there but not as far as you know being able to grow by its. Buy shares a company that's not there yet that this is sort of you know your to have you know probably boxy looking for real growth industries. Right now. No one's looking interest anyway. Net Disney can I take it day if a guy like Peter Steele is investing in this she is this a sign to us. That marijuana recreational marijuana is going to be legal. Across the country within the next five years. I think it's role playing you know I was listening to a report on the BBC what has come and work yesterday they were talking about tactic it was two. This could it be San Francisco it was it was a bout to it's. That is that that the liquid. Temper grew we grew marijuana that it used to treat cancer you know submit medical marijuana I think is going to be very uninteresting. Part of this but of course you know recreational where water is the one that everybody's going to be watching for kind of the sexy part of the business you have to stay one thing about this I have been a few that's beat. Six months ago heartfelt about the whole issue noticed that it is you know. Why not a that the people of it always expanded self determination and communities that it's okay wideout golfer I have that play I was in Denver back in November. And I'll it was just it's done the ever lovely city. What had a lot of fun there were there for profit the Charles Schwab that's but somebody's street people. In Denver it's just a big east media company your company people were just kind of out living on the streets. And my driver took to the airport said that it really seemed to have. Exploded. After legal we will finish number one that's why I think you know it's it's a social problem. I think it's also an economic issue that you have to think about too you know what's the overall impact on the communities. That are. Legalizing ought. Right right. Well the ill the curious to see what happens during the next. Yes it was all the money's going to what I mean it is convergence is Rite Aid and you start to have you know I'm the one billion did you know they put its. Market value at one point 221 point five billion dollars and of Colorado stars dispute that kind of money I think the economic. Attraction is going to be cutters used to bowl and it's only a matter time before shall be comes out of IPO that's based on. And in some way shape or form while legalize marijuana. One in it to your point Jeff if Colorado has it then. It's it's taking money out of various state economies were looking up your New England. And from what I read actually Connecticut could be the first state in New England. To legalize recreational marijuana. All of a sudden everybody from Massachusetts at all the New York need New York if we're gonna run right over the border to buy their legal marijuana. Yet and you know I mean just looking at it from purely revenues standpoint rather than the market valuation which you know if they have deployed multiple but I've been to multiple comes from 76 million dollars in after tax earnings sorts 313. Million dollars in pretax earnings. On it means you're you're talking about. You know. Well a a lot of body have been hurt and at a time when communities are doing everything they possibly can define new revenue sources and media here is you know a huge one that's just kind of sitting there for taking and as you. Correctly point out and I think is very appropriate look at it that way the Colorado. It's kind of reaping all the benefits now at you know at some point there going to be other state treasures Oregon say hey you know we're we're we're missing the boat on this and yes of the board believes states out there I think are gonna start to to to really take notice and and I think you'll start dispute spread. But can you imagine the governor of New York would have. And it shouldn't be with all the people just driving up 95 her across the border Rick as you know they would have dispensaries right on the border. Right you have no doubt about it you know and I think what you look at is that the political climate here means little would and particularly near city amiga but I think that the it would be something that would go over it pretty well and yet you keep the driver in the Connecticut back ago and and and the states start to respect kind of revenue it is it's going to. Catch detention of people well you know that about it. Jeff thank you very much for your time we sure appreciate it hurt our. Jeff Cox CNBC and Kim. Yet you told the cash it had to be a couple of years ago. That recreational Merrill want do you think that this is a trend wouldn't continue. So feel that way I do. I do. Because the political wins via anything I still think it will and the reason is because I think like like Texas that eventually that money is going to be too irresistible. And when Connecticut does put it. You know just past this and that's the most recent story I've seen it exactly he considered Connecticut Vermont a commitment to New England states Connecticut having huge and it's. You think about Heatley just think about how close it is nice to. 25 million people if Connecticut does New Jersey has to do the well and what's interesting about that though will be how they'll. You know the big thing is you can't take it across you can't buy it taken across. They'll provide penalty rates so you can biting kinetic it and so what the car was in New York State well I think there's criminal criminal penalty if you have a certain amount. By a so you know he would you want over. For your once a week by hand you know your violent more than what I think is considered. You know non criminalized and I just think it'll I think I think. I think New York will have much change choice. Natalie yeah that's a that's my point my point is you know you put Border Patrol. Which would be a huge inconvenience and cost. Very few gifts. And that's a. Stately Bjorkman and have an awful like Domino's I'd look and it managers race. New Jersey's the most can densely populated state in the country rate if Connecticut does you know Rhode Island has to do your party allowed to grow and. Can elect to stop them. Take oil like the medical reasons everything that lot of people like. I know I've no familiarity with it's I've no idea but I don't know me. I don't know why people like some he knows who makes him a phenomenon answer. So what's that you marijuana. What does that bring to that at that. And here I am baby. A. Dave wants to know what marijuana does succeed dictating how does that make him a look at that city's. It's back to school time and it's time for you to brush up on your education about. Estate planning did you know that from married couples you may be paying unnecessary estate taxes if you don't have a trusted place. For a married couple in Rhode Island this gift to the government can be as high as 100000. Dollars for two million dollar state. I don't know about you but I had plenty of other people in my life that I'd rather give 100000 dollars to. Came within the last hour we got surprisingly. Good information. Good news as it relates to new home sales. He rose during the month of February to a seven year high. I'm surprised by that because I think that new home sales you're talking about. New homes that are recently constructed yes selling at a clip of 539000. Most since 2000 and meet the reason I find it surprising news. There were not a lot of new homes being sold. In the northern quarter the northeast quarter even as in go to Minnesota worries me think about how many homes are being sold during that period time yet to be very very few new. Yet strong Dean Foods strong data. He gives me pause it ate you woody does. Is it helps me understand why stocks have rallied so much during the last year to the stock market knew that this was coming. And that's why you had an increase in in stock prices new homes. You talk about it driving force for the economy I think the last time I did some research on this. About 21 different people. Have employment as a result of the new home being constructive I'm just talk about people working on the home when the right. Landscape burgers carpenters the truth for you that plumbers roofers and then driveway guy cement guys the 21 different people being impacted their and its 21 different families are our households being impacted me and so when you have a strong housing market it is often times enough. To help inspire the economy you couple that with lower gasoline prices which we are experiencing. Great. Eat right now I've got the price of crude oil at 47 dollars a barrel so still very. You know very reason right American consumers getting stronger by the day saving. The money either unity gas bill went from eighty dollars a week to forty dollars a week they're better off financially. He got strong savings rates he of low gas prices in new home sales. Picking up and from new homes are better than used homes because. Gears there's not as many jobs being created when Jones told. Get sold. I like that news in an interest rates we can't continue this conversation without taking a look at the tenure pressure right now trading at 191. And in a very credible source. Says that the ten year will plunge to one point 5% the US markets still appears to be very cheap that's what causes you to come down. This according to coma all three Kumar. President of Sri Kumar global strategy she said this yesterday on CNBC's power lunch. So. You know it the the reason I think you could see the ten year treasury note yield declined Kim is it's at 190 now. I told you with the German ten year treasury is rated point money and so it's one point 7% higher than the German ten year treasury well. And if I'm eighty. Saudi hajj you find me. If I'm a Russian. On what would I wrapped her own terms of currency. Why would rather only US torture and US dollar. Is is got a better likelihood of paying off. Then a German treasury. I am I just. I I think there's some validity to the point where we could see it declining interest rates and of course gold trading. And 1189 and actually surprised by gold. Gold's been a pleasant surprise to us by day's route. Over that five day period time so. There it is your son is quick and it is not just typical when you see the markets fluctuate UH if you don't then people get panic and that's where they put the money down no goal Australia you know. The the gold in my estimation came should be declining. The gold should be moving in tandem with the oil. I my handle one gold is like 800 bucks amounts maybe even less than. Expect it just doesn't make sense what's going on with gold. Is counter intuitive I can be wrong David unity had a 50% decline in the price of oil why having knees had 50% decline. In the price of gold you've had you know from its highs you've had perhaps would 40% decline right. It was at 1919 not at 12100. So I still think there's a ways to go mangled. The answer is one person's opinion. Meg Ryan who was born in Fairfield Connecticut should they cutesy answer to this one. How many movies did Meg Ryan Starr with Tom Hanks to get them so you never they were. Want me that you may have to go out and you that you were Ogden know how to do things like that path yet he got himself in trouble. Baghdad. In an as an added bonus if you need all three of the movies in extra Michael I was literally gotta say that and you had a game. Do I do I want. We don't know about valued now via we know I just told you that may grind start read the heavy listed the ball to them Danica name. That's too hard. I think it's too hard over academic but is it up you know on that. You've got mail yes. I'll shoot like Melissa of the one sleepless sleepless. You don't know Joseph vs the volcano. I've heard the he did that Irwin that's. That I can't what you guys do this clearly I need to take control of that is an adult in the room. All right here's a better. How old is. Text number six in the sixties you know how old mate Ryan is. Sent us a text and and let us know. Detroit. Do you believe this story coming at a speech sure you can how you think they got there to begin with our bank. So. It turns out there are only months. Just months after the age you know largest back in municipal bankruptcy in US history and you know all of people lose their jobs and services are pensions and you name it handles all the bondholders leading though and and de lo and behold the City Council president and the council members. Are considering their. Raising. Their pay salaries they're. Currently. Is unbelievable the Detroit. City Council president has paid 80800. Boxes 33% less than the average pay for city it would be similar to that. Pre guide me actually I'm surprised that. And that the regular council members make 76900. So. New lottery at 7000 and that's when he went percent last density comparable. And the mayor says now he's gonna pass salaries he's not sure that he thinks that's right he makes a 166000. Almost 166500. He 11% below. The average density at Kevin or gave himself for them see that he gave the guy hidden at the Decker yeah I didn't see that. Well that's a load yes he certainly did. A book for. And for a job well I have some of those police pensions. The city worker pensions but the schoolteachers who were retired and got to pay more about them look. It should habits are not not been there and did you plan to begin right an attitude. And they don't for. Yet time is running out there's a limited amount of space for our event. Kim let's talk about this you'd be a fraternity they are exploring their legal options over The Rolling Stones. Discredited. Gang rape article. You remember when all this occurred right in summer this whole article I mean it was numerous page and it. Damning about this. About this fraternity about EPA. And Rolling Stone is also the one. But a couple of pictures are Naia they and uncover. They did. And anyway date you know it's it shortly after it was published it's slowly but surely started to fall part story. And there were individuals who were quoted in the article who said that is not what I said. And I was misquoted and so on and so for a while there was of course a huge investigation. And India and they've they've discredited the entire story. Not even clearer that there was ever any young woman who was attacked there gothic you know. So now that fraternity which is phi kappa side says we want some recourse and this is made the young man of this fraternity look bad to. It's made the fraternity nationwide look bad and by the way it made you VA look pretty bad too right. So on they're looking and they of lawyers who were looking into how they could do it were you know recoup some damages. Rolling Stone has caused them. I think he'll seek seek. The idea case I think that could don't you. They didn't follow it explosive announcement that way for them well I think they have a key union have to follow it just just the facts that I've told you right now that. You know they were suspended on campus Jones was such an hour or you know at the end. Of course they they were pointing the finger everywhere else and it is that Carter know and it I don't know if there were thrown out. Every young man who was an attorney was a suspect at that point in now and it just made everybody look bad. What if you're in the middle of the job hunt what if your idol that he now think about that these are college kids so. Right they when we come back we're going to be talking about nursing homes closing why. Our nursing homes closing throughout the region. The latest business and financial news in your pocket and at your fingertips download our mobile lab by surging financial exchange show when they're Google play your iTunes stores this is the financial exchange or radio network. Story circulating. The headline news as nursing homes closed residents scrambled to find alternatives. The first paragraph reads like this hundreds of rail nursing home residents have been forced to move. As a growing number of New England facilities have been bought sold. And closed over the past year two years this according to state records. So right now we are joined by an expert in the nursing home field his name is great car keys and CEO at the richest Alter time. Nursing home that is a nursing home or health care facility located in West Roxbury Massachusetts. Great welcome to the program thanks for joining us. Good morning glad to be here. So why are we seen. Closures of nursing homes to route not just Massachusetts but we're seeing the same story is repeated in all six New England states. Them the answer is really multifaceted. Down. You know we have a lot of issues going on right now and and really one of the first ones it is the passage of the accountable care Iraq. Which is looking for all to reduce dinners and now. One of the issues is maintaining census. Does Andy tremendous change in. What is available for the deal older Americans. Once they need long term care services. We have had a lot of investment in the home care industry. We've had a tremendous expansion of assisted living. Many people who normally would go to owners in number in assisted living. And then we have which the article brings out mass held rates of payment. The nursing home industry in Massachusetts. Does in fact and it's been shown. According to the states on reimbursement form dealer that their town average paying 34 dollars a day. What's. And the cost of caring for patient. Let's stop it right there can't be sure let's let's let's talk about that a little bit. So they are forcing based on what they read how much do they reimburse a nursing home for per month great. Rain is it it's a range they were a pre nursing home has. Five actually six rate. Based on ten classifications. Of the patient according to there a need. I'm. See you get reimbursed based on the severity so is it fair to assume that you'd get a nursing home would get paid more for. And alzheimer's patient then it might for somebody who's. Being you know just it is frail and and can't get around on their own. But interesting you bring out and not necessarily. Because some people where Saddam. And alzheimer's condition may only need read directing they don't need a lot of nursing. Skilled services during the course of the day other than perhaps redirecting so. The answer is out of that but what anybody. There is a wide range of the need. So how much are nursing homes losing. Easy it's on average it's about 34 dollars per day per patient when name yet handsome Indian. Correct so if if you have in the vicinity of seventy or eighty. Patient Medicaid. Paid for patients. That'll be 75850000. Dollars a year. Under what accounts you. And these are all private institutions are they not. Yes the other Ryan knows state of the Iran state run nurse. So it kind of makes sense as an attempt like why like if you're private business why would you keep your doors open there. And that's what's happening great game facilities are closing throughout the state. And it's causing a lot of problems for families bury it because they thought they get their stories their cases in the story Kim where. You know mom was being treated she goes to the hospital for procedure. What's to come back to a nursing home she's told them with tonight hosting duties he can go you're gonna have to find another place. That's is that pretty upsetting for her senior citizen great win when they're told. That they can't go back to where they'd be in the nursing home that they've been a resident at for two or three years. Oh it is devastating. You know and and we all see it within our own families went. When you have to make changes at the age of 85 Manning 9500. No it's devastating. Because once again one thing that the article pointed out you've the older person goes to a new environment. Well. Nobody knows anything about that human being and now we have to learn all the piled them. And add your rate a little advantage again you know repeal late eighties and nineties. To wait for people to get to know who you are all over again. It's not not a good thing. So you pointed this out as a problem last year has it gotten worse or better since we last talked. Well it appears that you know we continuing to have closures. The more important one perhaps is that a lot of facilities are changing hands. I'm I think the number in 2014. The work about a 130. Nursing homes in Massachusetts that changed ownership. Now. Why would anybody buy into that industry I can't I I would have a tough time. Justifying an investment in a nursing home knowing that it's gonna lose 34 dollars per day per patient. And and that welcome that the issue that we have well we all have to deal with. We re lying on other payment sources ops that as much of that loss. That where occurring from the mass cult program so the Medicare program in the short term rehabilitation patient coming out of the hospital going home. While the rate that we're paid approximately three times. The mask how. The private pay patient. I'd be out of pocket the person who pays the wrong way they'd pay a higher rate of course. Then the Medicaid reimbursement again we're subsidizing. The Medicaid program. Sounds sounds like it's tough industry to make money in well right now media I just trying to envision. Hundreds of thousands of dollars per year. It's got to be difficult to make ends meet Greg. Yes it is and and and I guess that's why a lot of the consolidation a lot of the national companies. Are the ones who can survive because they can I handle what cost structure you know spread over there you know. Hundreds of facilities instead of vote for one like we're an independent what did we do here as a nonprofit. On the trustees it looked at that okay. The nursing home industry will continue to change as their health needs change you know hospitals in the home care. Well here. How that we support then what they're doing well they've got into the assisted look. So we have assisted living apartment. He could help subsidize. Yes. An adult day program. Where people come and you know they can continue to stay atop so a lot of the national ministry has branched out into support of. Great leader get out I'm I'm I'm had not the gates heartbreak but thank you very much for joining it's great car CEO Deutch has all the time. Joining us today and. The benefits of solar power Ryan welcome to the program. A lot there Ryan I've heard that for the first time solar is now cheaper than utility power meaning I can get solar power off my roof. For less money than it would cost me for national greater Northeast Utilities. That's absolutely right we at first I never at the point where solar energy is dramatically cheaper than utility and utility makes this easier every year. By reason the rates low solar power is getting cheaper and cheaper thanks to dramatic drop panel cost. And lots of lucrative incentives and ask Jesus or the point now in the average rate Massachusetts's right around twenty cents. And the average rate work for solar energy was to level cost. A six point eight. So a lot less expensive. Pilots now. So what are the available incentives what do the tax incentives for putting up solar power short. Your whole rate at 30% of the cars back as a tax credit but there's also cash it paid every quarter for ten years. Based on the production assistant on top of the 30%. 30%. Hi this is Barry Armstrong from financial exchange recently I've been hearing many reasons why we should consider buying gold geopolitical uncertainties stock market corrections you name it I don't disagree with the idea of buying gold but I have always been suspect of the ads that I see on late night television or even yet frankly that I hear on the radio I like to buy gold from local institution that I trust I owned gold and I by in my gold points from leader bank I walked right in to any leader bank branch and I can buy American Eagle gold points leader bank is a local bank with. You showed little tore everything business and finance is the financial exchange with Valerie Armstrong Jim Kerrigan on the financial exchange radio network. Is the stock market overvalued got that nine NASDAQ sitting at 5029. And the Dow is right now up 21 points and 181132. Trim tabs recently issued a report. That does not bode well for US equities at least in the short term we are joined today by Charles Biederman he is the investment research chairman at trim tabs joining us to explain the research about the market perhaps being a little bit overvalued today Charles welcome to the program good morning what are. So help us understand it has the the whole idea of money fall and how you use that technical data. To give us an idea that perhaps the stock urges too expensive to. Well. Too expensive the relative brazen so he'll within a minute. But in essence all there is in the stock market in reality our shares of stock. And money flows in and out of the checking account for stock market intermediaries sent over 80% of stock is held. Outside of 10 one's own personal account. So we measured the changes. In shares of stock. And changes in the money available. So since the end of 2011. Kind of companies. Have reduced this year count. Have spent about a trillion and a half dollars reducing the overall share count. That the west shares outstanding. And the amount of money that they did that where it's more than the amount of money investors have taken out of the market. Since that time so more money chasing fewer shares. Kind of makes sense right that prices are gonna go up as a result. Yes so that we see a tremendous amount of corporate activity reducing share counts bill okay. And debt committee it's. Curious thing is the market overvalued well as companies. We're neutral here you know and not doing any thing the market would obviously go down. And my opinion obviously sent everybody else is cellar is it separate companies. Charles is it possible to use this data. To determine how much of a decline in stocks we could get in the next ninety days. On the next ninety days are all in on probably not much I mean art what we're just it. It's more of that there's a tremendous amount of bullish sentiment. Out there you bet. You know word of golden age and stock can only go up until when that happens people get exuberant admin we could have. A correction you know 5%. Something in that range maybe ten bit. Doubtful yeah I mean as long as the underlying trend which is the amount of shares outstanding keeps being reduce. And is more money chasing fewer shares. The of the market can do only one thing according to the laws of supply and demand. And that will change at some point in time and at some point in time companies will be selling more shares spend their buying. And unless there's a new source of funds god or someone. Drops a load of more money for the Federal Reserve somehow robe and maybe create money just to buy stocks. Unless there's a new source of cash. What companies stop fighting we will see a significant decline and stock prices. Charles when I don't know quite rightly another aspect of your report says that the investors have added 46 point eight billion dollar equity funds mutual equity mutual funds and exchange traded funds just in the month of march that's the most. For any month. Since October of 2013. And when I think about investors who buy mutual funds I think about individual investors right. Funds and exchange traded fund most of the money going into exchange traded funds the B Pacific. But those those are retail investors and historically retail investors have always come into the game. Yeah I definitely Tammany. Well what we've seen you know are well we've actually spot you know. Analyzed our monthly data in relationship to the market. And why we issued our clarion call short term decline. Is that historically a record inflow. Into ETS. And mutual funds that are relevant which which one. Is this short term top. Because whatever exuberance gets that. You know what all the money that's going in is and who's left to invest. You just met president that not a value indication. It's more of you know. Sent him an indication then that then we are research goes that the stock market professionals. And that's not necessarily something that day to day investment should be the brotherly. It once big once the drug is empty it's empty right. S and that it gets three spill I mean it doesn't get re build. If companies keep reducing the share cap that well on the other hand. In the run up to Easter. There's usually a tremendous amount of new operate but I think next week there's going to be a whole bunch of IPOs. Big dollars and that's also ahead where it went. Ten billion dollars a week two billion a day in new operating takes money out of the checking accounts. That's a lot of money. The trustee keep track of how much money sitting in cash and in checking accounts and money market accounts. Yet it's not a significant the amount. I mean that these ditch the transactions are more important. You know that level. In reality you know are my met that is that it's called apology which is what. Actually happening now and in the stock market they're all the only thing that occurs at transactions. Shares of stock are bought and sold at a deep keep track could be about a shares in the amount of money that's transact things. You were I have a good sense of what's gonna happen. Charles thank you very much for your time we appreciate your joining us today on the financial exchange. Thank you know that's Charles Biederman he's the investment research chairman at trim tabs. Suggesting that we might be setting ourselves up for a stock market decline so invest accordingly. Kim there's a story out of Brussels. Hoover technology drivers. Came under attack from taxi drivers in the Belgian capital over the weekend in a burst of violence. Highlighting tensions in Europe over the growth. Of the California. Car hailing company. We haven't really seen that in the United States have. No we haven't we haven't seen it here in the states at all but we seem to be seen you know for Europe in a number of cities is just the latest. And now we're not talking about them you know yelling adamant protest outside the cars means they are. Actually. You know saw fighting there solving these people. That the what I glean from this is bad in Europe. The medallions and licenses if you write must be held by individual persons. As opposed to in the United States with the tend to be held by the company Boston cab. Right for example Boston cab B you've got that when it did throughout the country yeah you'll see a lot of these medallions are held by. Large institutions. In when you talk to the drivers for Hoover right in the I talked to another one yet today. And he told me said I used to be taxi driver now I am making much more money driving for Cooper. In Europe it must be just the op serve because they would be drivers. Would not be attacking Rupert drivers. If it was owned by. A big corporate entity must be owned by an individual church and there they have a personal some skin and it in the game there that's my interpretation it. Easy double reading too much into noddle thinks so because I don't know why they'd be doing it otherwise and lusted systematically cutting down on it. On that customer flow so dramatic that the Islamic seemingly period I think you're right I think they must have some skin in the good news for those who of you who Libyan Fall River in Freetown. Massachusetts is poised to give Amazon.com. It's second significant tax break of the year as the on line retail. Online retail giant. Moves forward to build large piece equity. Warehouse warehouse for an in in Fall River creating. 500 jobs right. Details of the proposed state tax credit were not made available in advance of the Tuesday meeting. McKee is just this is just in it's it's done to eat. Yeah. I don't know why wasn't released by at. If you they. They hurt they're tough company to work for apparently in two tough tough company to work with but. I am right when I read the story said OK they're gonna build it in fall or wire to building it in Worcester. Worcester would appear to me. Unity if you look at a map right and wouldn't it make more sense you've got to train depot in Worcester. You can get the goods there it would you it must be cheat they must have found a cheap. Our landlord or a location in which to build or they got a better tax deal and that would bother me if I'm a resident. The greater Worcester area. I'm saying to myself well we have a depressed economy here so why is the state giving extra money to Fall River which also has a depressed right. Rite Aid they both are in this situation. But I I look at it and say just. From a business perspective. In this might be my first criticism of Charlie Baker but Charlie if it if it's a business right. Why did you pick Fall River I wish I can ask that question sheriff Charlie why did you pick Fall River. Over westar. Because he may not see there being much more traction in Fall River. Where there may be. Other opportunities for Worcester on the line unemployment urgent the size yeah unemployment in Fall River by the way nine point 3%. In the month of December as opposed to five and a half percent sheriffs throughout the rest of the statement these jobs that are being created. Figured it's it's several million dollars to build warehouses but then they're going to be 500 jobs created. Payne 35000 dollars you're so they're not high paying jobs. But in an Amazon by all accounts is they're tough to work for. By you write their jobs it's 500 counts when we come back Kim is gonna explain to you why. You should start taking a nap. During the afternoon that more coming up on an extra. Get the market updates hey I'm. I'm here on the financial exchange and a financial exchange radio network.
