From Wall Street too you're street bearing in humans you've covered in the financial exchange with Barry Armstrong and Jim Carrey again. Hi everybody welcome. Usually exchange pairing him with the. Here on Wednesday it possible snow and it's not five degrees. No golf. The ball 22. It's not snowing and it's five degrees. And. Nobody's moving because there'll sitting in their cars that are too worried that you've heard what's going on so I'll tell you story my son's fiancee. Works at South Street Seaport gas and should be live in Somerville. She had to walk from Somerville to the south station team to get to work it appears there's no public transportation in the city Boston don't go to Boston don't go to the parade watching on TV because you can't get there. Well sure how they're gonna get the players there at players just got Abbas and down Angela I'm watching that picture of him driving down there outlook they're still they're still there if those talks are right absolutely. So it's just gridlock I can't remember I I was telling gave. I can't remember a worst commute from me you know short of their being you know something really crazy. This morning it was absolutely terrible you know it and I'm sure there's a lot of people that are working from home and trying not to limit. If your medical worker he worked at a restaurant eat you know there are some people cannot work for all -- working construction you have to be very. In you know the horror stories that I'm hearing. About the commute last night you're just east it was a nightmare I was listening this morning to a commuter talking about how yesterday. She got a train and she got a sparks can Morse school there and had did to go further. There were a thousand people she sat. Reading for a box. She got back on the train because it was going to train was going any further from the point. And went home you know I think that's probably what happened with a lot faster I don't think it's completely was opening Monday in the earliest KG in the inquiry we're gonna storm. And so I mean that you know we have no commuter rails and you know there's no teeth are very limited leopard. And now we've got all these mounds of snow and what do you think this cost the city overnight. Because they said that for 24 hours straight they were trying to take snow off them were not there. They're trying in India you know acting the you know it's great that we won the Super Bowl but holy cow. You know going into the city today I can't recommend. No I generic action and one of the young guys that are work where he lives in Brighton hey you know young Ryan and he's he's got the that he's going to be great to see the only employee took the day off and need to go you know why would any and I'm sorry I mean come bodies of BC guy NBC lost the Beanpot I'll continue to just kinda yes yes he's great progress yes but I mean you're in premium and others spent here it is prosper. Sick of these rolling rallies why would I go. In traffic in freezing cold weather to watch people just drive right literally guy who hasn't been to a patriots rail you know right right he's probably he's not Rhode Island now the other guy he was in hear from him. Fatalistic notes is business but I'll tell you what I would not. Drive in and you they're you can not. Relies on. Public transportation yeah just you you have to assume if you work in the city you have to assume that you walk yet because. You can't rely. Lowber is is charging lately three times the normal fare because there's so much demand for their so much to me exactly day and you know we've we've talked about that before that outward and that's how they actually race. Price based on demand and they've had so much to me and that is costing people Portugal. Until when it's four degrees. And you feel like your future daughter in law who had hit a walk to probably could be did get a new thank you mayor wall. Well I know I'm not put this on I'm not put this on the mayor I mean you know what we viewing and he's not charged MBTA at that now he denied the MBTA and you don't want the the the MBTA problems run deep. And the deer tick it would take twenty years to fix the something I actually think we should all be thankful this is happening is maybe this will be. Some of the wake up call that we need to re budget you know we talked about this yesterday about the idea that. Maybe this will be the thing that makes some people go of the Olympics you've got to have getting some beef and got to rebuild our infrastructure the city is falling apart. Days like today and yesterday and Monday are evidence and yes our city's old and fallen apart it's a wonderful city. That's fallen well and you realistic about this at a time in the city could be so enjoy the five and it could be so exciting because all of this is happening. Boston the last time rumors joyous laughter. Prices. Tick off at that where we live I. Gave earlier I sit there just that it. If we won the super bull we've all been so angry it's an wanna know so angry if I can you if we lost that game. I'll check would've got fired for not calling a timeout. And he would guess what he would if you look at what I'm not announcing uniforms that you don't want so much Greenwood all want to get fired. All right let's we have against traffic reporter whose gonna help us you know. A bit of color that she's she's just an updates from quickly folks up here in the car. You're listening to us he try to figure out what that's going on the the answers this don't go well. An illicit people listening to there are under way. Also we hitless yesterday Pepsi I'll never be LX amount of people. Mark my words predictability on the S 12345. Buses. Players still move and those guys have no idea what their past 500 dollars are in the 65. But does it. Only do you know equipment guys that it's about it's author issued and Anderson is joining us a little bit about what's going on and Angela I think probably one word. I think that's Woodward gridlock right hit a detriment explained. I meant are you. Can make you. To. Opt. So what is. You know what's what's it like a worse it's worse and yet that's. Our. It's. An aggregate why open quick. Attack under. There. It out. And whenever. And more. On. Act. Like a way. I worry that. Oh. Although it out. There so I couldn't ride. A lot. Are. Up by the all that well people. I went on there and I'm that the next. Car. I'm match so Angela let me ask you this what are they gonna do both players is there on those buses right now coming up I think it they get police escorts and again that part the sea or what's I. That police escort simple. Yes. If you are sitting on. Its app grade and there are a. Well are more importantly you're sitting in the expressway trying to do need to get to your job right. You know well and hi sue yeah having a heart attack yeah. Yeah at this point I've practiced so many people just gave up. Yeah that. Pretty far away. And author and I hit back to back up. You'll what's what's happening with the hospitals and an EMS and that I think you've heard our part we actually see I've heard from people that are at a hospital that they gave up parking lot walking. Past. If you look at the report people are stuck and our and our. Job right out and how I was coming. Out of work at the and it trying to get cute at it was a pop of an epic that is in my opinion. There's a public safety concern as well. I agree that probably people blocking her act. They're your problem that's gridlock a big ally. Matter. All right well listen thank you very much good luck on not making your way to back day. Don't know yet I don't drive to the city it the message is this don't drive to see him as you can walk don't know. Call your bosses say let America and I I gotta tell you working from home yet again this is in theory. How unproductive have these last two weeks it for a pretty bad. This yet I I really I mean I wonder I got wiped out all last week and vast majority of this week's in terms of my activity in disease activity because you eat your plane ticket here. They don't want to do and then they can't. And just think if you were sitting you know on wealth and street or not it's it's bad in this area produces an economic hardship on employers. And unite it. I understand everybody's excited about the parade in and I am too but her idea. And I've got to believe this is at stake game it's all happened in really tough is that a couple of just housekeeping notes all of our. All of our trivia questions are posted on our FaceBook page called and can you make sure that she did that and we are deepening to exchange on FaceBook. Today we're talking about last minute cleaning techniques for the procrastinate or they can help seed your assets if someone goes into a nursing now. Todd can anything be done to save the liquid assets of an unmarried individual. Yes there are some things now remember it's never as good as as advanced planning but it's better than losing all the money and that's really the goal this. In order for an individual who single to get on Medicaid. They have to have less than 2000 dollars and often times they won't they'll have you know few hundred dollars and if that they saved over their lifetimes there. Well that bucket of money is there the individual would then have to. Purchase one of these Medicaid annuities and please let me just throw a lot of reminder. That these annuities cannot be purchased prior to someone going into the nursing home case so don't let somebody tell you that they can tell you Medicaid annuity today. It's a last minute planting technique and once you buy this annuity lets me take two or 300000 dollars of excess assets. And purchase the annuity that goes access assets are converted to an income stream so value in essence have less than 2000 dollars of assets. Because there. Big chunk of assets has now paying out in income stream a monthly check you'll receive. Over your life expectancy whatever your life expectancy is that's the term of the annuity. The moment you buy that annuity you're now eligible for Medicaid annual stretch out the money make it last. Lot longer folks if you're single warm married in their feast with a nursing home stay. The air is something that can be done to save your assets last minute that you need some guidance. Collar profits right now for the brain and guide from Cushing and Alan cleaning for procrastinators. 8668485699. That's 8668485699. All the best in business is right here. Very on the stroke and can carry him on the financial exchange radio network. Kim there's a story in today's Wall Street Journal that caught my attention. And I'll read the second paragraph to you. Mr. walker a Republican has proposed a two year tuition freeze Indy 300 million dollar cut to the University of Wisconsin system budget. About a 13% drop next year from current funding levels under the plan mr. walker would shift control of the university system. From the state to a new independent authority. He also has said that he thinks that faculty needs to work harder god forbid they article does say that for at. I thought I mean it it's. East taking a very bold pro yes he is in Wisconsin. And Doug Belkin is the reporter for the Wall Street Journal that wrote this and he joins us now on financial exchange hideout. Good so what's the response been to this see it very bold move on the part of governor Scott Walker. He's got university faculty. Pretty upset which it is predictable that's just that's. Good we are sitting at the them. You know PC. Made a big stink with the public employees' union when he first got into office in 2011 and he really porous the state in the gross national prominence that that. This is as sort of a page in the same playbook. It's amazing he because he Gandhi it would it would there what are his chances of a pull this off. Well at the legislature is overwhelmingly Republican so the chances are very good color in this probably does a lot to help him on the national stage does it not. It's it's going to be. Rocket fuel and Iowa certainly word innately prefer the right this is not CO. This is not going into the principal Massachusetts probably isn't that it would it would in themselves and denial. What about. With this constituency ago. I think it seems like to me you know a lot of these these parents out there might think is a great idea. Yeah well in the tuition is the one that significant impact of this for those parents that tuition is probably Angela. This so if you know. How broadly the state subsidizes. Universities so public education it if it goes a long way to determine which costs for parents keep the page. OK I stay patient. He might go up a little bit right daddy's the but a state school still so much less expensive. Than me. A private school and you're looking at a new sane OK but it I don't have a kid in the state school this is keeping my taxes lower income taxes well. And that. It's this is. Very interesting to watch it is it because. This is not his first go around just as it was a guy has not been afraid of controversy like this remind us about the his battle with the public unions a couple of years ago. It was pretty remarkable he was elected in within like two weeks. He passed act to hand which stated that the public unions with the exception police firefighters. No longer would have the right to bargain collectively. And they would have to start. What 8% more for their health and retirement costs of their pensions. And now. It was like someone dropped a bomb in the capital at 400000 people protesting in medicine for weeks. Following that there were tens of millions of dollars being pumped into this state. For a recall election on both sides conservatives groups and and liberal groups pulled. Collaborate to this date to get rid of him or keep him and he won handily won by seven points which was real. Since it was stated the state has purple. I was content has supported Obama did not vote for Republican presidential candidate for awhile but they have gone four votes senatorial candidate and governor. Intuitive that put on the map certainly from a national perspective and anyone election between fourteen and he's got a lot of concerted interest in backing for a presidential run if he's. He certainly could still in the water I think this. This move here. In the heat took its and I too and I particularly the other big issue is he at the Democrats years ago very upset about is that. He should he's gonna cut taxes he's and he's gonna draft a revenue stream in Wisconsin. But it's gonna be made up for by you which publishes a quarterly job to be coming stated that hasn't materialized and as a couple of billion dollar deficit that part of the reason he's. To enact a university. Like it is because this state budget that is down in reference to money. But if they. I it all you almost get this sense and maybe this is an isolated incident that you get the sense that the pendulum has shifted. You know if it swinging back it to the point where people are saying look at our cops are important and our teachers are important. But yet they that important really did you have to be paid at that level in order buying call might help. And if I guess the country's gonna weigh in on this in the Republican Party would be weighing in on this where does he rank in terms of the you know there's twenty or more candidates now for the Republican nomination where would you rank Scott Walker on that list toward. You know surely mean BP B is an even declared it was a poll Iowa. He was actually the top he was I think it would 60% that would until it was nobody's really the front runners this but he's. He's positioned to be a player in the present. And I accuse him he's young good looking right either he gets the upper midwest upper midwest he's not from the northeast people like the northeast so. But Doug will be followed I'm sure you're gonna be writing about it so we're gonna keep you on speed dial them. Thank you. Douglas Belkin Wall Street Journal you know I think a lot of people are tired too and boy this case there he was in that same idea that. You know I I don't want to pay for you or. Full retirement year insurance. And all of that because your public worker because nobody came from. And I think that people are tired that as well and have yeah I turn me you know I mean I I understand that you annoyed that that the police officer puts their life on the line and I understand that a school teacher influences the rest of the kid's life I get all of that they should be paid for that you know what they're they should also. Be paying for their own retirement and partial. Health and I think that's what's happening. I think across the country thinks out there is a perspective along those lines where people are just saying hey I don't get a pension and work your private sector workers in only about eater 9% of private sector workers. Have eat pension plan like copper teacher fired her or university professor the rest of us are trying to. You know we're socking money and or for what they were personally responsible for that. The pendulum I it is if Scott Walker is successful and I don't know that he will be that if he is successful that's going to be his plot it's certainly he has. I agree with you. That that's going to be the basis for his handers well and that's going to be good and bad because that's also going to be would other candidates are gonna go at him saying you know this is the guy who came in in Tora. Unions and had the audacity to take away you know a collective bargaining rights and so I mean that that's going to be where it that's going to be. A feather in some other candidates caps as well it is and I think the I think the country's ready for that reference. And if they understand it and Indy it's explained to them. With the cost as you look at some of these pension deficits across the country. When you're in Rhode Island Rhode Island you know they've had employees lose their pensions in Rhoda right it's it's a big problem public pensions our major financial problems this country well and near a major financial problem. Four on not just for those who are gonna end up not getting them for those of us who are paying them again. I understand the importance of some of those positions but why is that any more important than what. Dave's doing connect them maybe Scott Walker is the referendum on top. Hey when we come back or be talking to Travis Miller from Morningstar. We've got stock talk coming up soon and financial strength. Really you know GAAP putting your kid's name on anything while you're living is frightening with or without a life estate so your question was interesting it was. At least using a life estate does provide the parent the right to live there that some protection night. I feel better about that. But I really don't like having the children's name. On any property. For the following reasons one when you do that it's a completed gift to you've lost all control over your order anymore I worry about if the kids go through a divorce and ex son in law the ex daughter and when your house like. And you know number he needs that truck liking the whole structure could given to a family member may be but you know I am it's a very nice tip. And then staples we talked about staples yesterday. That merger with office of the vote now officially hasn't occurred rightly acknowledged. Right well it looks like there were they've worked out most of the details. Associated with it it's going to be a six point three billion dollar acquisition. The issue now will be the regulators they'll have the final say it again this becomes an antitrust issue. They tried this deal Berry or back in the late eighties and couldn't get through because of antitrust but now. It monopolies are so different in this particular retail space this really would not be a monopoly because this kind of item is available and so many other locations. You you pointed that out quite well yesterday Moscow its. Markets more to me. So to to call the two of them coming together a monopoly would be really sort of they think they'll be of the pull it off in both stocks benefiting from that announcement. Breaking news at a General Motors they have increased their dividends. And as a result. The stock today is up a dollar and 35 dollars and eight cents per share that just crossing. The tape on and then. The Lombardi trophy. Going back to make you know we are patriots. When they're making their way. To the city but. The globe trophy is actually made in Rhode Island which I had no idea I mean did you now. A good question for you now in this gonna sound like a stupid question but today. I mean I guess we had a company do you keep correct I believe they keep so there's a place down in July which cannot confirm that but I believe they keep. I'm sure it's in that hall fame soon so I may be our listeners will know and they could just. Texas X 86 it's 22 inches high it weighs seven pounds and it takes up for months to complete its like me. It has done. But they wrote it as it should just I'm in bulk for the next few years in now again we already know what it's gonna look like what's gonna stay on it is in and out. Its rating action I took profits its meeting Cumberland. I division at Tiffany right to Tiffany trophy. Circle that's pretty cool. Do you see that video of that plane crashing into the room. Taiwan you know they just pulled it out like that just a minute ago 25 people confirmed that all is nineteen hours out point five. Horrible they're big they're kids maybe horrible world events you know he had the the train. That hit the car in New York, New York Palestinian ally he has seven people confirmed dead in that accident. And then of course buried that awful you know having talked about this off the air at the office situation with the Jordanian pilot and crisis released that video and Jordan. It executed their two basis and prisoners today. You know interestingly enough do you remember you know talking about the soft the year. And I kept saying you know well and the Jordanians the Jordan the king of Jordan sees it can't just kept asking for proof of life. And they would provide the amount they determined they think they killed pilot package anyway on January 3 I think we actually showed him being burned down but they. He's already dead in the burned so when they kept saying. We want proof of life and you can have this woman it was that woman they way they want it more than anything it was. Woman they were holding and they would provide moment they couldn't. So we are pretty bad Ari SS and sees this is the Connecticut company. There from Windsor Connecticut they've announced plans to spend two point seven billion dollars to acquire San Francisco based software company specializing. In the investment management industry. SS and C shares were up yesterday gear up again today 33 cents at 5996. The symbol for SS and C technology used is SS in CE. And then nine New York Times given us a little bit surprised yesterday. They certainly did they the profits were better than what everybody at into the anticipated it would be and I'm surprised by that the casino in New York Times has had its share problems. We have but if they are still. The worldwide. Newspaper and the QB Chad is a it's an editor with the circulation numbers are but I suspect they have greater readership than say USA today here are some of these other. Washington Post yeah. And then say it ain't so chipotle Mexican growth shares are down 53 dollars okay I'm ticked off about this I hope. They showed a 27%. Revenue increase in the fourth quarter. And investors said 7% or less just not good enough no not that's not entirely accurate but now it part of what it. The that the. Problem for chipotle is is that he said weren't is who you know we we crushed it in the fourth quarter. But we're not sure we're going to be able to continue to grow that it's really. Forecasting and because that company was growing at an astounding rates and you know Italy opened so many stores what saturating yeah. Exactly they have right now like I looked it up. The company opened a 192. Stores last year that's a lot that is not. Bringing its total to 1783. In the company plans to open another 190 to 200 stores in 2050 right so there. They're growing and let. You know it it's just ate the they're gonna have problems with the police first it'll be the labor they benefited. During the last five or six years from me really bad. Illinois and I don't know who the winner was that he I don't know we had a general. Yeah I think we have a winner I'd still be beat Karrie has brought the winner in yet I think a lot of people think she was from Arkansas then they were from Arkansas now you'll he hoped. Number he's from hope all right but she's she's Ari let's go to our guest our guess is Travis Miller from Morningstar. Charles Fishman I'm sorry Charles Fishman. From Morningstar Charles how laureate today. I'm doing fine first congratulations on the patriots. We're pretty exciting you guys out Chicago's earlier terms yes. There's always next year yes there is it is going to be quarterback next idol. Who knows what audio right it's not going to be Jay Cutler is our I don't think that's I don't know it yeah. I hate now I've. Days are over you wouldn't want the job right here thanks by the whatever we get caught much Paul please I try to get in poultry. Time in the last two weeks the line without but the war. Chicago you know in my apartment would they don't have enough of them in Chicago is at the I don't know what's going on. What. You know it's amazing you've been in one. One pretty good out there pretty in it was bought an iTunes like that in that the block. Yeah I should say that they'll be like Starbucks before you know they're gonna opened couple hundred stores this year so. And expose more interest in the utilities but totally sold his stock and investments in this hour talking about today centerpoint yeah centerpoint Houston utility I mean you know you got investors out there looking for deals yeah and they're gonna have to take a little more risk of the bombs here. Well we don't bonds break. Pretty pretty awful pretty low yields and so if you're gonna take a little more risk we went directly toward regulated utilities that you know or in areas with solid. Constructive regulation diversified and well managed and I think they used to utility centerpoint that's bill. A little over 4% yield verses. I am median yield on our regulated utility group of morningstar's over 3% so. That's good to what kind of utility are they nag gas or the Houston probably how to how to they make their electricity. Well they don't make electricity. Texans remember deregulated their electric market and in Houston. Like I like. Houston electric light I think was what they were called yeah they've busted a marked cancel her point was just wires running down the street. So you you're dealing with a poorly regulated. Utility and since senate bought gas distribution made they actually supply the US open Minneapolis and know about another half a dozen cities the Minneapolis. There's the big one. As most of error in dire most of their lines underground because Houston's and fairly modern city. Now probably most some or bombs sometimes in your high risk period to put him down below interesting though they've just completed installing a million Smart meters. And they were one of the first cities to do this so they're really. Pretty advanced pretty. You know they focus on electric and gas distribution and so do I I reports like companies and just do one thing and do it well. Sure I can buy the stock today for 2287. It's traded as high as 25 in the last year. We think the fair value in the stock. Point five as what we have is fair value in this thing has been flat underperformed and probably the reason is the end I think two things in his oil exposure. Into areas one is it's this city. 4% owner of an able which is of midstream company and that's. Quite a bit of value you. Com and they're big push was up in the pocket and of course the with the oil prices coming down a lot of concern about what's gonna happen there com. But you know so that's the deregulated peace in this company. Bombs but the in the and the other concern is used to I mean people keep saying well this time is different you know in the fall in oil prices are gonna hurt to Houston economy but. Say right and I and I think there's a lot of truth to that guns are so much. Petrochemical development what's going on in the lower prices actually helped dozens in industries. In Texas has diversified their economy too much greater degree than they had in the past so I can you. I think that's true that so I mean you're dealing with now way. 4243%. Yield was and we believe the secure. One time they were talking eight to 10% growth on that dividend I don't think that's gonna happen now with what's going on with the oil but I I still but they just increased they're different and four point 2% last week so I think we'll see those kind of increases for the next few years. So you know when you look at Charles from minute just an investment strategy standpoint you can buy today for 2284. Rate. You can beat by a thousand shares you put a cell ordering him. At 25 dollars a share which is 10% gain in while you're waiting for it to go up 10% in value your being paid four point 3% tax favored. And we liked it there and and there's a big if if it just it's one of those it's it's not a it's not sexy it's not like buying Google or Amazon or some like that are chipotle but you know what. You get rich real swell and another. That is. That's that's buying it is born but it's good for its blue blood utilities like they're at their. Born integrated in a great investment the problem is somebody utility user. Pretty pricey right now with the demand for yield but this is one that I think goes stands out as. A little bit of you know attractive right now. Good at what we like it then we appreciate your time thank you Charles. And Charles Fishman joining us today from Morningstar the stock we're just talking about it's called. CenterPoint. Energy C in PE is the symbol for that stock he get paid a dividend of four point 3% Charles tells you. Somewhat secure. Dividends are not guaranteed. Any left to talk about as relates to Hoover. No I think we that we you know we kind of hit that early on did it. You're charged a lot users don't have the means by which Iran would do operating well I don't see the buses yet them and weird moments away from when the parade is supposed to start. That they could be load them up. And then you know parade begins this year we'll check it out here and. Just currency effects on Twitter is school chancellor that I because there's a lot of kids there are. There are districts that are cancels that day in maybe bill orca was one of the pool camera number of them were canceled so. I do see the buses now until I see seven buses. War it would appear to be patriot buses can making their way to the bosses to Boston for the parade. The main I think they might be run and a little bit. You know in desperate Esther yeah. Our eight January US auto sales of held strong compared did you know hit and the it was easy to beat last year's auto sales but it was a good it was a good January regardless it you know if you work as January's always have bad years he brought the guys in the auto business and it doesn't really get started you by car detailing beaten by a car. Nickel and stability to a dealership last two right now glued to a dealership the engaging. In in. Plunk down your cash and say you know by car by a couple cart chairman Alan really good price church and on the cart them by as he gets. He gets Golan. President and that's coming right. I Antalya it I think if you know even at this point right now it's still a decent time because it's been a rough two weeks for ground here. We'll talk more about that when we come back roster will be talking to Isaac are in store from Bloomberg what is the future of oil prices oil prices could continue to. Accelerate. Dino oil is up 19% in price in the last five days. Talk about that. It. It's back to school time and it's time for you to brush up on your education about estate planning. It's time for the financial exchange with Barry Armstrong and Kim Keller again from Wall Street to your street bearing in humans got you covered in the financial exchange with Barry Armstrong and team carried him. Hi everybody welcome for the second hour of the financial exchanges. Verbeek talking about oil we're going to be talking about forward in the wages in the Detroit area. And then we're going to be talking about Green Mountain Coffee Roasters in about. About half an hour so busy show for you busy hour. For you here on the financial exchange before we go to our first guest I'll give you our second trivia question of the day and by the way. All of our trivia questions are posted on our FaceBook page we are the financial exchange on FaceBook. What was built with sporting facility was built in the year 1914. And was originally called. Wiegmann park if you know the answer to that you can. Text us at 686 CD what was built with sporting facility was built in the year 1914. And was originally named. We human park help I'm pronouncing that properly. Our text number 68680. And more importantly we're joined by Isaak are in store from Bloomberg News to talk about oil I Eisen. I. I think we've seen neat I believe it's about a 19% increase in the price of oil. In the last four days. Is this a precursor to a continued increase in an oil prices. Opinions are mixed on that some people I think looking at defendants saying that it's just kind of reaching a bottom but other people still think that there. It's further down to go really what's happening here and in two Prez coming backed down a little bit today what's happening here is this sort of Peter taught her. Up between the traders and investors want to see. Supply response one succeed at lower prices or reducing. Production and there's some evidence that that is already happening and we. Producers. Idling drilling rigs and cutting their spending and laying off employees. So that's part of what's behind it built a little bit of her rebound the day at the same time you can reports. That stockpiles are continuing to build. Because of the cola is not over and actually looks like it will get worse support it's better so that's pushing the other way pushing prices back down a little bit today. Yet that's what they didn't understand are reading in in I think it was and Bloomberg. Storage facilities have the biggest amount of oil in 84 years. That's right. So would be you know oil got to go somewhere there's the moral rules being produced than is being consumed. And there's a lot more places to put it than there used to be. Which you know adds some breathing room boat that's you know traders see that as a as a treat their star at least he does inventories increased like. Well you know Isaak you'd talked to a lot of different analysts and I was talking to Nick Johnson over Pimco. He suggesting that oil is going to be sixty dollars. Per barrel by the end of the year were fifty now what are you hearing from the oil analysts in in the oil traders that your talking to. It's a pretty consensus views 606570. By the end of the year in that range of most people think that. We're not gonna stay as close we are now but we're also not gonna go as high as you were last summer. You had the the CEOs BP yesterday saying that a hundred dollar oil is not coming back for a long time. If it's conceivable you know he. The lifting that occurs to me is I remember back to 2011. And gold went to 19100 dollars an ounce and it seemed to me at the time I think that you know gold had overshot the runway. I wonder if when oil fell to forty dollars a barrel if it didn't do the same thing but in the opposite direction in other words. Commodities tend to move in these bubbles that are extreme and maybe a little bit over exaggerated. Yeah absolutely a lot of people think that that's that's exactly the dynamic complex at the same time it could overshoot. Even further you know people are saying you know maybe thirty is not out of the question. But certainly you know in the longer term nobody really expects. It's just stay there what has to happen is those people were quite the task of forced some of the higher cost producers have to market. They can decide they're not gonna invest in producing because they can't make money at those levels and that then reduces the supplies so prices can go back up. You know from a conspiratorial. Perspective. One could assume we're guessed that maybe BP Exxon and Chevron all got together and said you know what guys let's go to forty. And choke out these little guys that are borrowing money and Tenet driving us crazy. Or if there's any truth of that or not lately with your take on. Well that's certainly what OPEC can do it that. Or at least the countries that are controlling okay two what OPEC production targets namely Saudi Arabia and its allies. They want to maintain their market share and today he want Q. Put some of the US producers. Al that has been make you root for them. But you know in terms of the oil majors and this sitting on the part of anyone really and and they've been having an you know lay offs and and read and write downs and has definitely been independent front the it is decrease in prices. So. You know that's it certainly is tougher than to cope with the road as much as anyone. No I hear you raise some good points you know their stocks have suffered but not as much and you've seen some stocks go down 6070%. You haven't seen that with the big boys like Exxon. Well they integrated companies like Exxon has the advantage of also had some refining businesses. So when days you know get less money forward the oil that they produce and sell they also it's a little bit cheaper for them to buy a little. Then refine and into its if you like castle. Right god god well you you know these aid we appreciate your time in your perspective on this Isaak thank you thank you Isaac and star Bloomberg News and you know Ali I I've I wanted to talk about oil because when I was reading the January auto sales report yes like all the Carson. In this is good I mean it it's good for GM it's good for Ford and Toyota but everybody's going back and buying these big cars. And I just you know I'm patches is. I mean. With all due respect folks if you bought an SUV because you thought gas prices were gonna stay low you're not too Smart and media about a TV is unique one in. Good for you more power to the end. But you know I don't think anybody should be speculating on a couple of months a low prices you know but clearly it is I mean he did number yeah they are and I don't get a but I had the numbers the and if I share these because I I think it is important sales of light trucks and suvs in January. Grew nineteen point 3%. Representing 54%. Of the sales mix this according to researcher Robert auto data. Passenger. Cars grew at seven point 7%. All right so trucks and and the big stuff there are grown 19% passenger car still growing. At seven point 7% in electric cars are well under 1%. And I just worry that people are gonna buy these aren't things and then they're gonna be stuck at four dollars and saying geez what they do well I just wonder too varied though if. And I'm gimmicky. Amid give consumers credit and think they didn't bite and solely because gas prices went down but instead because. You people like to own an SUV and may be money has loosened up a little bit to working out and maybe you can afford one more rattling its January. You need an SUV at this time a year and maybe that's why by I think if you based on the idea of the gas prices are down. He may be very sad come June are no new you haven't had a heck eight Toyota. Predicting massive net profit CNET had tests at a popular stock yet to report that they report this morning. Mostly you know momentarily if they did it's just been. TM as the symbol on them in Boston there two dollars and 46 days ago this is the company will be you know this this. This is tough island say company like General Motors. And it's good for companies like Toyota and a talking about the value of the US dollar. The yen has been just. Brutalized. Right. And it's it's tough if you live in Japan because Japan is an import content charter is to bring in the food to make a lot of things the our our imported to it so if you live in Japan in the value of your currency has declined dramatically that where it's great for Toyota. And you have Toyota is like printing money or because everybody wants to buy and gives them. With some might deem to be an unfair advantage over an American venture like this they can they can. They can build truck for a lot less money. In Japan because the currency Sulzer and as a consequence Toyota shares trading at 133. Dollars and 58 cents so. The big. For an auto makers are big benefactors. On this the German vehicles look it's happened the Euro rate. The Euro is gone from a dollar sixty down tuned. In here it was a dull. There's just he is it. It's tough on American manufacturers. Yet this situation. Tourists will be talking about that he got an American international company they're going to be struggling for them. Tea who's not going to be struggling and that would be workers. At Ford. Hope is this a great story it really years of Ford is an up that more quickly than they normally would they're gonna the bottom workers. Hourly in it we're going to be joined by Michael Martinez. Was built in 1914 in a regionally and it was called Wiegmann parked I already I think it's Wiegmann yeah it is weak now that's right and yeah. Well I'm are. Ran to do that comes in Cambridge welcome thanks very much thanks for listening we appreciate it I didn't know that unless it was replete then he can get me. Are so anyway we were mentioning before the break. There's a great story coming from forward out of Detroit and joining us talk a little bit more by the Michael Martinez he's from the Detroit news great ideologues are. Cricket you bet so this is a really cool thing Ford announcing that they're entry level our wages will be increased. Definitely a great news for the fourth workers as we can come also the same week that they. Heard they're gonna receive a 1900 dollar profit sharing checks too so they're having a good week. Boy they argue you do it daily guardian in Detroit and it had some tough talk and sound. Right let's talk about this there're there're couple. And you know there's a lot better than I'd living their decrepit you know there are a couple different levels. Of Tom pay scale when it comes to these these motor companies and so explain how this works and why this is significant. Sure law in the other sports to seven negotiations with the United Auto Workers this setup. This deal to Wear on the and a cap on the number of second tier wage workers entry level. Week workers think it has and a cap was around 20%. Up there workforce anything over that. Would have to transition to the top tier wage out to about nine more dollars an hour moving from. About nineteen pump and an hour to 28 dollars an hour it's big stigma yeah it is definitely an outboard. Just. Exceeded that cap number. With this new announcement this morning that they're gonna added 15150. Gad. To support production of the new F 150 pickup truck so because they've exceeded that number. They have that transitions some of those lower level workers. I give my period. So how will they be chosen is it's seniority. They it's all about seniority and booze or predict that over the next few months between 30500. Workers. Well received that they bombed and they're gonna come from the lower level workers who have been the longest. And Ford says they're gonna come from three specific areas. That are plant in Kansas City, Missouri. Louisville and Chicago. Wow he's met for an added it is it's really terrific loser Ares had been hit hard to shore so by removing those. Those workers up a paid notch. This means obviously they're bringing more workers in on the bottom side. Definitely it's about those the announcement this morning majority of those workers are gonna come from a port in the city. Assembly plant which along with a point in Dearborn make it. The new F 150. That kind of all the rage these days in the aluminum body it's a bunch of weight should entails sir are really going strong. That's why important. Hire more workers make more trucks. How long are they at that particular paid Corey. Along do our work M free move deal. Are you want I'm not sure there's an exact time although you know it poured keeps continuing and workers and go over the limit naked. They can move up to higher pay a peace deal rather quickly and. Sure sure I was just wondering if this is like a big surprise to some of these employees or that. They were on the verge anyway. You know I'm sure it will be surprised that this sort of condition put in the these 2007 negotiations that. You know what kind of talked about instead it has to be a great thing that ever happens but it never happens center GM and Chrysler yes Chrysler also has caps at some point but those have been taken away. Ford has always been under the cap for the boom this is big news. It's your wrist and then you're you're trying to profit sharing to liberty about that. Definitely oil every year via the auto makers. Were in fact the workers rate after the announcement how much money they've made and port workers found out last week that they'll get on average of 2009 dollars. Depending on how many hours they work per week and the tracks would come in March that and a bonus but I'm sure a lot of people. We use either save her maybe go by and you boulder or. Cycle as obsolete that he does it compared to years. Last year it's down from last year manager with a record of workers receive. About 8800 dollars and we just found out today GM workers will receive about 9000 dollars. And then Nam get Chrysler workers are gonna receive about. 2750. Foot Ares I ought to make it varies by year that your port was down a bit in the profit of the numbers in the smaller. Referred well thank you very much Michael we appreciate the insight. You back in a kind of nice to see forward doing well you know. And listen G did talk about doing well a look at GM yeah yeah and he you know they was they were able to do is. The unity the flushed a lot of their dad right forwarded port plans it and Chrysler didn't know who what I respect about board. And it is maybe seem petty. It would take any government money donated. And that you know. They just like driver four. I don't like it right speed the day and I just respect. The way he did that company that was all Alamo all he's gone but well they tighten their belts. They get in the indicated that a product but the unions to their crime rate is this is finally unions they recognized as the the UAW I think back and he came they had. 7800000. Members and the numbers drop ice 70%. Because what happened was those jobs went to Mexico Korea attorney and counseling a lot of great the issue we we still. Purchase it just as many cars in America. As we did 2030 years or more powers are sure that the number of workers in that industry has shrunk because they were overpaid average worker. I peak it got to about 85 dollars or was close on knee that was the cause when you include their benefits and help pressure. And that obviously is down a lot now as you're talking about them getting raised and they're going to thirty dollars that's right so that might equate all in witty 45 dollars an hour. In and that's going to allow them to compete with the Japanese workers in the Mexican workers and I I think Mexico is the next great. Mean that mr. actor that's that's gonna become me very large manufacturing destination. Right here is your third trivia question of the day. The what was the Willis tower in Chicago previously. Is the Willis tower but I tell you can if you visit Chicago. Everybody calls it the seers of course still. Happy that you say the world's how they look at you like you're strange. Uneven have to visit Chicago I'd say they're right here in Boston US and I. You know argue that isn't saying two different things about the tallest building I thought it was in. Asia and couple techsters are seen at Singapore Malaysia. David is suggesting it's in Dubai so where's which would as part obscene about I don't know if there's. If it's not that important tip for content that currency and up and you mean to David to our. A Ari well I'm. Next topic that were talking about his company called Green Mountain Coffee Roasters compare personally keeps his company's business saturates. And any machines well I I have to. In my house that are functioning and ask me the question for me back on her. Where well I warm like it to be you know can you quick question I know the answer from date. Do you only put bottled water in New York for an attack mean to. Did you put bottled water and yours. Into eighth work that these well I think people have told me that's where your where man. I have an idea that too and it broke me. But I love it. All right well that's a top guy cure is the name of the company Green Mountain Coffee Roasters agree church the name of the product yes green coffee roasters in Vermont is the name of the company. It is now. 1980s. And what did they do in the beginning just copy yeah Coca copy but it wasn't until they came out your machine. The company took off and Michael brush from MarketWatch has been following this company for quite some time Michael howry. So I'm insiders. Buying the stock even at these elevated prices. Armed yet you know the signal here it's. Pretty amazing and done. One of the neat things about here is that. East siders were at about half price in Hamburg are keen and mentioned it in stark letter at. At about our dollars counts double and they're buying again. That's agreed to do EC. On strength that's really. You know people seem to. It's not true that all enterprise or to. Look at the arts and that's the key here. OK so they're buying again and they're not big he's not small purchases. That's true. I have over ray. Wants to sit about it pours in one room I quote sheer size and we are. In dollar purchases which is really quite short Internet become this. How much market penetration had made me in another world what percentage of American households have a cure. If that's questioned because. That's one key to this story it is controversial. It reports after the close they've had recall issues who knows what's gonna happen. You know that tomorrow near term. But to your brain I think this is the key here there's a 120 million houseful US and its 60%. Coverage and that. That public go up to. Are and you know by each day that would mean sent a group of except yours which as you know pretty good. We just wanted to you Tony households I mean I think you find them in just about every business. In you know that you address well I mean there's one here in the off. Daniela. I don't eat yet that's true and and now it's kind of spreading Oswalt and if you look at the this kind of the changes in consumer behavior. If you look at other cup. He's set of darkness like that's like 60% of sort of early adopters pay and better breaks into the mainstream and were kind of adapt this. What do I do what's the rumor on near cold drinks you know I've been worrying about it's a year I've been hearing about insuring getting into the cold dream of Phnom greatly with Lou what do you know. Well you know one of the things that this company is that. It has 400 engineers. And these people are worked on this space shuttle stealth bomber and they spent years developing this altering. Machines and it's a lot more complicated that you might think because. Just take one example this is in drinks. Refute. Notice this but it buries tree to tree by and a up the kind of bubble side. Characteristic they both in this machine surrogate you know. And that brings partners like Coke and ducked prep work because they say you can reproduce exactly. So I think this machine will be popular. And surveys but it's like oh tax. Am also sure that it should be popular topic of evidence amber but I mean what you'd think. I don't know I I just see a lot of soda drinking on the decline Michael. Yes that's true but it's not just sewed it so it'll be all it. Speeds. And I guess part of this year announcers and so that just reading what they say analysts say is that instead of having. You know that the Obama in the music goes stale after you know. A couple of days whatever you can choose individuals served interest oh expression and do it you can also by the they have. You right. Thanks because these tribunals as opposed to just a couple of bottles yeah that and rated ever but it states. So Michael what kind of market penetration do they have internationally. Like I they'd begin Europe. You know that's another key question here and I think its support people because. It Coca-Cola. Big state can expect. An error partner I guess were Coke and Coke who is what kind of company. The better question. That. They are. Above and secondarily. There a distribution. And there and in the third. The first to order. And ended. His Coke that's one that's so cute it's discussed a global distribution achieved networks that. We pre. And palm or if they'd start. Certain machines. They're each. Globally that's going to be. Who knows if it will that's question mark but it can. It's. Yeah and I mean certainly an innovative company and I wanna see the soda machine. Because I actually don't drink very much sodium aluminum and restaurant or. But I that LT what they do drink a lot of I think a lot of iced tea. You know I that it hit them out there and ordered him like it'll make seltzer water. Which is something that I drink a lot of that correct and somebody came out with that line well I don't think so this third straight right. If years is that. Error or machine and recreate. Suspect and and and nick also circled. So it can do that and I think that's why the it's. Now getting the big part like the dark upper arms so. I think that the question mark and of course it is such utterly out but I thank you insert. Well a year. Thirty. Sir. That tells their courage that it can be that's kind of big question. OPEC well. Michael I will post this on our FaceBook page and and not. Gergen and pats. The eight. Who whose coach of the jets. I I really don't know. And strict. Know what's going on right now don't know what Boston is close senate he heard. Not allowed to go to Boston to. If you're in your right mind others Tom Brady in his little guy had his his schedule is little boy on their. All right well Michael thank you very much. You need berg I yeah I like the product. I do too I like it a lot and I think that Michaels and on to something here I know we had to sort of stream. But I don't think the technology. And he did the efforts have been put into that product like what they're doing over here accurate for their cold drink. And I think that probably when it does come around next fall and that's going to be huge seller. Well guys if you wanna learn more about this companies to Green Mountain Coffee Roasters are based in Vermont. The symbol for the stock is GM CR and I will host Michael's article. I won't tell everyone and faster very quickly you know apparently works they'll win going again and minority yesterday on the originally ordered on line and ordered it on line. And it's it's fifty bucks for the pills take to a day and all the work. Well and I expect to become much more handsome. I'll be much smarter pitcher. You who maybe didn't hear the show yesterday we should tell anybody or to worry about there's. It's. There were how many five of them RC five Nobel laureates it has because I was with Klein yesterday and I was telling him about those while I despite your Hawkins them. Enough they say this is a part of the Democrats. In the possible they're not paying the interest. But when you get it first of all the scientist granted he's a. Avery yeah. Right MIT right and then you've got five Nobel laureates who were also endorsing this to me right A it's worth fifty bucks. That that's how I look bright for fifty bucks I'll try it give it how long do you think it should try to. You're integrated like yours it gentlemen till I realize you just trying to catch up well the difference you know these these gentlemen yesterday reported these gentlemen. Went with it as a supplement verses going through the FDA only because of timing they wanted it on the market well the problem. That sometimes. You know is surrounding these supplements is that they're bogus and that you know that's what made this one. Yesterday interest in it he buried notable individuals are kind. Because you have to be very carefully comes to supplements because anybody can call anything except for purposes. And what we found at Wal-Mart target and a couple of stores. And there's a number of attorneys general who have gone after some companies that are claiming that they have. In there products partners. Are essentially taken the placebo. Signal that markets irritating is if you go would you spend 25 bucks for that problem. Of a placebo yet. And I think that EU's common with a lot of these supplements right exceed year advertises and I can get to be the kiss again you know here I am I just signed up for. Well that's I'm anxious to see how this one and how this all goes down but.
